But posters are bothered and it's hard to ignore mods who are obviously so biased towards Jake.
LG should have never been allowed to mod on the Jake threads that she also posts/slobbers on. She posts as a poster but when someone disagrees with her or her Jake philosophy she turns into a mod. I used to frequent DC but after it became a mod-centered site I left. Sites should run on the input of the posters, and the mods need to be in the background; DC is just the opposite. DC is running off all the posters. When it finally dies what's going to be left is 10 mods talking to each other.

From the way Jake reacted to Nate's question I have another theory: unrequited love on Jake's part, whether they were involved or not. Maybe it was too painful for Jake to see Heath and/or too hard for Heath to see Jake hurting because he (Heath) couldn't reciprocate, whether he wanted to or not (his new family responsibilities). Either one of them could have suggested that they stay apart for a while until things sorted themselves out and healed. And then, time ran out.
He said he saw them together a lot by the pool.
In between the cold showers I always had to take.

Even before the 82nd Academy Awards show was behind us I felt a new set of players already emerging for the 83rd with enthusiastic buzz and early screenings pointing toward a few nominees from the 81st Oscars who may be back next year. From the Indie Spirit Awards to a slew of A-list pre-Oscar parties around town the hype was already starting.
When I caught up with him Saturday, 20th Century Fox co-chair Jim Gianopulos talked enthusiastically about their Thanksgiving release, "Love And Other Drugs" while animatedly describing the plot line of director Ed Zwick's sexy drama about a Viagra salesman's encounters with a young woman suffering from stage one Parkinson's disease. Jake Gyllenhaal and 2008 Best Actress nominee Anne Hathaway ("Rachel Getting Married") star. It would seem to have Oscar written all over it, especially after a screening for select Fox executives on the lot Tuesday night. "The film is in remarkably good shape considering it doesn't come out for nine months," one senior exec told me yesterday. "I would be stunned if Anne Hathaway does not receive a nomination for this. She's stupendous in this role. Jake is also very good." Expect to see this one emerge at the fall festivals for sure.
Hathaway's competition could come from her "Brokeback Mountain" Oscar nominated costar Michelle Williams, who made a splash at Sundance winning strong reviews opposite Ryan Gosling in "Blue Valentine," which was picked up by the Weinstein Co. and will get a prime December release slot. Like many films premiering at fests these days, the print seen at Sundance is not final and in fact the movie is undergoing a three-week editing or tweaking process now to get in shape for its year-end awards run. At my UCLA Sneak Preview showing of "The Greatest" (April 2) Wednesday night, producer Lynette Howell, who made both films, told me not only has Gosling matured into a major league actor since his first Oscar nod in her "Half-Nelson" in 2006 but that Williams equally deserves recognition for her work in this. Howell also told how fortunate she feels to have Carey Mulligan, hot off a lead actress Oscar nomination and BAFTA win, co-starring in "The Greatest" opposite Pierce Brosnan and Susan Sarandon. When she did the film she was a total unknown, hadn't yet made "An Education" and had to audition extensively to win the part. Now that the poignant movie is finally coming out she's as promotable as the two top-billed stars.
Buzz like this is premature and/or is posturing by the studios to get publicity for their films.
Nobody was talking about the Hurt Locker, Crazy Heart or Sandra Bullock this time last year. And don't forget all the talk about Brothers that went nowhere.

^^Difference is that Anne will probably put butts in seats for LAOD. And if it is a decent hit, coupled with an (hopefully) acclaimed performance. It could happen.

Anderson Cooper throws out more gay hints on Regis And Kelly. We all love him and we all know that Anderson plays for my team. This is a funny clip, little long but funny.
Kelly has a picture of Anderson from his high school yearbook and hides it down her shirt. He laughs and says "Sweetie, that's the last place I would look."
We love Anderson because though he has never said he was gay, he lives his life as an openly gay man. He doesn't need to come out, we just love the fact that he jokes about it and doesn't hide it.

LOL, more babbler hilarity. And the thing that is so ironic about it is that Jake is a fine actor in his own right and all this over-sensitivity and defensiveness about his co-stars makes it look like they don't really have all that much faith in his acting ability. They always seem to think there is some conspiracy against him or something. Jake was really good in Brothers, imo, but they still felt the need to put down Tobey's performance and even take digs at Tobey's looks, too.
He doesn't need to come out, we just love the fact that he jokes about it and doesn't hide it.
Someone needs to send that clip to Jake (yeah, I know being an actor and being a news reporter is not the same and I know it wouldn't do any good, but still ...)

I remember reading that in the DC Slash thread where UV said she'd like to see a story where DeadJack or GhostJack comes back to haunt Ennis only to tell him to fuck off or make him miserable. I was shocked at her hatred of Ennis and how little she really understood of Jack and his love for Ennis. Of course, if he ever came back as a ghost (if you believe in ghosts), he would NEVER tell Ennis to go fuck himself. He knew what Ennis was going through--he LOVED Ennis. He would probably tell Ennis NOT to drink his life away--not to mourn him but to move on and enjoy the rest of his life. But UV just doesn't understand love, does she?
I don't get why people have animosity towards Ennis either - they were both victimized by society's oppressive homophobia. Although after my first few times of watching, I admit I was angry with Ennis a little. But then I understood him.

And there are places where you can discuss both sides of the coin. I just don't see the big deal. I don't think this is the place to discuss UV's opinion of slash...
I get what you're saying, but with UV "defending" Jack in fics is the same to her as "defending" Jake against gay "rumors" in RL so it's all related in her mind and what drives her to be such a condescending bitch all the time. A long time ago, some brave person sarcastically suggested that she should write her own fic, that it would probably be great! - and LG swooped in and said that UV was an excellent writer - and pointed out the writing she did on her babble blog as an example, lol. So it all ties together in a sick way.
Personally, I feel anyone should be able to write whatever they want. If you don't like the storyline, I agree, don't read. But there's more to it with these two - they are the ones who take it seriously and become nasty. A few people have even had their work harrassed. Someone posted about a story because they felt it wasn't portraying Jack in the kind of light they wanted to, and then moderation had to go on. UV is kind of a copycat as well.

Jake CLEARLY cared about the people he worked with on BBM. Look at the shots of him and Heath doing promo--and there are shots of Jake hanging out with Michelle and Heath. And he seemed to get along fine with Anne (as he did recently with their newest film).
He also has stated that BBM was a special experience for him. And yes, Jack Twist was his best role AND his best performance (although he is a tad shaky at the end during the confrontation with Ennis--but I think that's more because Jake was wearing the most distracting age makeup--and Heath was beyond exceptional in that scene).
Jake CLEARLY cared about the people he worked with on BBM.
That is more than obvious.

I believe this to be Sophia's facebook. Mostly because she posted on Rowdy Stowall's FB, a comment on a photo of his kids saying 'Uncle Austin says "silly gooses..."'
Also, because of her different profile pictures (it's recently been changed - looks like S & A to me). And because of the only thing visible on her page: the pages of which she's a fan (Art of Elysium and one in support of same-sex marriage...). Anyway, probably doesn't tell us much. But still. Could be good to know.

The National Enquirer is reporting that Jeremy Renner, the Oscar-nominated star of The Hurt Locker is HOMOLICIOUS, and although not closeted, he prefers to keep the subject of his sexual preference out of the press.

After we reported on speculation that Hurt Locker actor Jeremy Renner was gay this morning, a source came forward and reminded us of a very CURIOUS article in the real estate section of the El Lay Times way back in January about the Oscar nominee's house being sold!
The story says:

It sounds like Jeremy Renner has been living a dignified, honest life. Not closeted, not bearding. Just private. I think people like him should be admired and left alone.

I thought Jake and Heath were both outstanding in that confrontation scene - I don't get too concerned about technical things like aging makeup, etc., I just get lost in the story. Ennis and Jack are as different as night and day, but two sides of the same coin. Brokeback is one of my favorite films of all time.

I'm sure there are plenty of twitters when actors are revealed to be dating someone new, get engaged, etc., i.e., people are talking about them being straight.
Chatter about gay actors will only stop being a big deal when actors being out is the norm, not the exception.
And why would an actor care if people twitter about them being gay, unless they are closeted and gay is seen as a bad thing. It's not the reason they stay in the closet. That is is a really lame-ass excuse for why people think actors stay in the closet. Only fangirls and people who think being gay is a bad thing think it is bad to talk about it.

Which is why it's important that gay men and women don't stay in the closet and don't beard. The public makes a "big deal" because they believe it is "unusual" and "shocking."
I'm pretty sure HW is not going to change until soceity's homophobia ceases...And we wonder why actors stay in the closet.
It's a vicious cycle though, isn't it? And will remain that way until gay actors have the courage to break free from it. Society's homophobia won't stop as long as people still stay deep in the closet and beard, which perpetuates the notion that being gay is something to be ashamed of, which leads to people making a "big deal" out of it ... and on and on we go.
After taking his boyfriend to a very public Hollywood Oscar party, is Anderson Cooper getting ready to finally come out? Who knows, but based on the very gay joke he made on Live with Regis and Kelly, he already is.
As he often does, Cooper stepped in to fill Regis Philbin's seat on the morning staple. Usually when he's on, co-host Kelly Ripa does the outing for him, but today he stuck a little light loafer out of his glass closet door to get a laugh.
Ripa and Cooper were doing a segment where the CNN anchor was answering questions from viewers and Kelly produced a yearbook picture of Anderson that clearly embarrassed him. She folded the picture up and put it down her shirt saying, "You'll never get this back."
What was Anderson's clever retort? "Sweetie, that's the last place I'd look." (He also gave some serious gay face while making the crack.) It's actually a funny bit, but it only works if the audience knows that Cooper is gay, and clearly the studio audience of Floridian tourists didn't get the joke.
Well, Anderson, why don't you explain it to them?

I disagree. If you magnify the pic to 400% (doesn't anyone else have the Firefox image magnifier addon?) it pretty much looks like the end of his eye glasses stem. The way he's holding them, the end is peeking out between his 3rd and 4th fingers. You can clearly see the shape of the end, how it's curved in that odd shape. I'd love it to be a wedding ring but unfortunately it's not.
It's a vicious cycle though, isn't it? And will remain that way until gay actors have the courage to break free from it. Society's homophobia won't stop as long as people still stay deep in the closet and beard, which perpetuates the notion that being gay is something to be ashamed of, which leads to people making a "big deal" out of it ... and on and on we go.

But not for the reasons some of you think; some of you seem to take it way too personally. Some of you forget that actors thrive on changing roles, changing personae and being someone else; they DO NOT want to be pigeonholed or even iconized into one singular character in their resume. IMO Boner (yes I know it's Bomer but Boner is so much more fun) was discriminated against. It's obvious that he's not someone who is going to beard or to lie; I think his lack of playing the HW bearding game knocked him out of competition for being hired for movies. His bf Simon Halls is a PR person, and I wonder if he had any influence getting Boner the White Collar show. If he did, good for him and Boner making sure that this beautiful talented charming man isn't wasted. Other than White Collar and probably without Halls help, Matt as talented and beautiful as he is, after a few guest shots on CSI he would probably be relegated to appearing in backpage magazine ads for the latest prescription-only asthma inhaler or as the Orkin Pest Control guy. I've been a fan of his for years (I was one of probably five people who actually watched Tru Calling) and I've always wondered why it took so long for him to finally get a big break. I think a lot of it is there are a lot of pretty boys in Hollywood. Sometimes good looks can work against an actor.
He's always seemed to catch a break, only for it to not work out for some reason. He was one of the stars of Traveler, which was a really good show, but ABC aired it during the summer and never really got behind it, so it was cancelled prematurely. He was also supposed to be Superman a few years ago, but the director left and the new one cast Brandon Routh instead. Big mistake IMO, Matt is a classic Clark Kent type...and can actually act.
White Collar has been very good for him though and USA has actually built it's reputation over the last couple of years as being a good network with quality shows: Burn Notice, Psych, etc. He could have done a lot worse.
