She seemed credible about a lot of other things. I have heard mixed things about Tom Cruise from people who have actually met him and worked with him. So I can understand why Dawn would think he's straight (but weird) and why Ian would think he's gay.
I think Tom just has a very low libido.
Iheartjake.com has tons of pics of Jake. After you have viewed 1000s of them like most of us have, you'll be qualifed to distingish Jake's expressions and can see for yourself that nothing compares to how he looks when he is with Austin. Nothing. And he has never looked like that with Reese.

I have no problem believing that Jake had been in love with Heath because it would explain his reaction to Heath's death. Yes, Heath could be wild and untameable, but I am sure the challenge would have appealed to Jake.
I don't like or dislike Austin. But he just isn't at Heath's level, and I don't just mean as an actor. I just think that, if Heath were gay, he would have been a better choice for Jake. He would have inspired Jake.
Yes, Jake and Heath had a powerful chemistry. That was not just the result of acting. Jake was too obvious about his affection.
I agree. But I think drugs and large egos got in the way. And Heath was as complicated a person as Jake is with an apparent liking for the ladies and perhaps confused. Who knows in this game?
I think Jake and Heath could have gotten old together though. Out of all that cast I think they had the special fizzbomb thing. But twasn't to be. Water under bridge and life moves on. Heath left a good acting legacy and a daughter.

And The Oscar Goes To…Matilda Rose Ledger, But Who Will Accept The Award If Heath Wins?
What do you do with a trophy when the winner is no longer around to accept it? That’s just the dilemma the Academy Awards is facing this Sunday when the Best Supporting Role is announced. The late, great Heath Ledger (we finally saw him in The Dark Knight - a creepy and amazing performance) is up for the award, but since his death last January, this has been a nagging question for all involved.
Heath, who died from an accidental overdose of prescription meds, was NOT married, and therefore the normal procedure of giving a posthumous award to one’s spouse won’t work. The next step is to give the golden statue to the winner’s oldest child. Ok, but Heath’s oldest and only child, Matilda Rose, is just three years old. Minor glitch right? But wait there’s a catch. A contract must be signed and while Matilda may be as brilliant as her mum and dad some day, she’s simply too young to sign. Here’s more from Yahoo:
Academy tradition calls for a posthumous statuette to go to the spouse, or, if there is no living spouse, to the oldest child. Ledger wasn’t married, and Matilda is his only child .
Yet because she is only 3, Matilda is legally unable to sign the winner’s agreement — a contract required of all nominees that says the recipient will not resell his or her Oscar without first offering it back to the academy for $1. The agreement is the academy’s way of limiting what might otherwise be a lively secondary market in Oscars.
“From our point of view, somebody has to sign the winner’s agreement, and a 3-year-old can’t do that,” says Davis. “Nor can a parent sign any kind of legal document that obligates a child to do something once they turn 18. I didn’t know that before we looked into it, but it’s a good law.”
After conversations with Williams and with Ledger’s family in Australia, the academy hit on a solution: “In the event that Heath Ledger should be selected as the supporting actor recipient, the statuette will be held in trust for his daughter by her mother, Michelle Williams , until Matilda reaches the age of 18,” says Davis. “At that point, she may execute what we call an heir’s agreement and keep the statuette forever — or, if she chooses not to do that, it will return to us.”
In other words, the Oscar statuette can spend the next 15 years with Matilda, but her mother, who has signed the academy’s agreement, will be the legal custodian. When Matilda is old enough, she can claim ownership by signing the agreement. If she does so, she’ll become the official owner and will be legally bound not to sell her Oscar; if she opts not to sign, the statuette will revert to the academy without any payment.
As for who would accept the award, that — like many other aspects of the ceremony — is a matter that show producers Laurence Mark and Bill Condon are keeping under wraps. Davis will only say that tradition calls for a posthumous Oscar to be accepted either by a close relative or “an artist who was close to the nominee, and who can speak credibly for him or her.”
There’s little doubt Matilda, under the watchful eye of her protective mother, will sign the contract and keep her dad’s statue safely secure, IF he wins. And chances are good he will, with experts and the public giving him an 83% chance of picking up the Oscar. While this Oscar dilemma may be temporarily resolved, we still don’t know who will actually accept on behalf of Ledger should he win. I’d put my guesses on Michelle or someone closely affiliated with the film, maybe even Christian Bale (a long shot, especially after his recently revealed F-bomb tirade) or perhaps director Christopher Nolan. At this point, your guess is as good as mine.

And so, it would appear, is the process of adapting a film from Life of Pi, Yann Martel's prize-winning fantastical yarn.
Eight years after its publication and six years after it was optioned by the specialty film division of Twentieth Century Fox, Life of Pi has a new prospective director: Ang Lee, the Chinese-born auteur who won an Oscar for his direction of Brokeback Mountain. Lee, whose last movie was the sexually provocative Lust, Caution, is in the final stages of talks to direct the film.
Before he shoots a single frame, though, he will need a new script. Previous efforts have been scuttled, including adaptations by Dean Georgaris (The Manchurian Candidate), M. Night Shyamalan (The Happening) and Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Amélie). Gil Netter, who first optioned the book and has overseen all of the scripts, is still in the producer's seat.

There's something special about a handful of Jake and Austin pics that I haven't seen in any of the hundreds of his other pics. A trust and comfort level in someone that comes with being a couple for a long time.

Just think 5 or 6 Austin pics contrasted with 90+ Reeke pics at a basketball game and it doesn't even compare. J&A seem in their own world.

All those Reeke basketball game pics just hightlight painfully to me what J&A can't do in public. But I love that you can see how much they'd want to, and some body language and facial expressions that they can't hide. I could be wrong, and Reese is just a more reserved person, but we never see much coming for her side, only Jake. It's all about her, which translates into what some women want to see - a man totally devoted to them, at their beck and call 24/7, treating their children like his own, showering her with gifts and going to exotic locales, to whom they only have to give the minimal effort back.
Jake is not at her beck & call. Her kids hardly know him after what? 2 years?!
I'd call going to see his sister and her husband's play, then getting a yank on the choke collar and coming right back to LA on the redeye at her beck and call.

Anon. 9:10, when I say her beck and call, etc. I'm not speaking about Reese specifically, or even if the stories are true, her, etc. just means certain female readerships I'm sure these stories are meant to appeal to. I'm sure lots of divorced women with kids, dealing with the workaday realities and looking for a Mr. Right would eat this stuff up. Whether or not it's real, it is being exaggerated for maximum effect. There's something quiet in the J&A pics that speaks louder than anything I've seen in other pics.
Halperin bringing up Heath didn't come out of the blue or on his own. A poster named "Kate" that commented on one of his TT posts last week asked about Heath and Jake and why Jake was silent. Since Ian spends most of his time lurking on his own blog responding a lot of the time to the commenters, he probably said why not? Heath is dead, all the "sources" are BS or made up: A source on the set of one of HEath's movies. What movie set? Notice the movie wasn't named, no timeline. And of course Dawn will agree, why not? That was the reason she was on the show.
It's safer for them to spin about Jake and Heath then Jake and a person that is alive.

I think we've said this before, some of us - I am sure there was affection with Heath, but no actual relationship to speak of. Would leave one wanting, not content. With J&A, with the backup of the TT story, there seems to be a serious relationship. There's more to go on with the Jake and Austin relationship. I hope this Ian story isn't being put out there to counter the TT story.

You forget that supposedly Halperin has been talking to people who are alive who claimed to have slept with Jake. The TT story is only spun by Ted. I wouldn't call a story spun by a gossip monger "backup."
Why would Halperin care about countering the TT story? That make no sense. He' call Jake's name in public as being gay. Why would he be afraid of Austin. He mentioned Austin, just didn't know if he and Jake were ever a couple.
Heath and Jake were not the focus of that session with Dawn. That is not the reason she was there. They covered a variety of people.
People believe there is an actual sexual relationship between Jake and Austin because you want to believe this and that 's fine. But the only "backup" is Ted's story and what you want to perceive that you see in photographs, and how you've chosen to interpret things said in interviews.
Just as you perceive you see love and affection between Jake and Austin, some of us perceive that same between Heath and Jake, especially Jake.
I don't think there was a sexual relationship between Heath and Jake. But if Jake could have figured out a way to get with Heath, Jake would have dumped Austin in a heartbeat.

I think the fact Ian doesn't seem to have any real information on Austin confirms that it is a serious relationship and not just some hookup as some people here seem to think. Austin's not going to talk, and probably not any of his friends either as long as they're together. I suspect that if they ever did break up we'd get a lot of loose tongues wagging.

The media and the public have been obsessing in recent weeks over the bizarre and entertaining antics of Joaquin Phoenix, whose announcement that he is quitting movies to begin a hip hop career is, of course, a giant stunt concocted by Phoenix and his brother-in-law, Casey Affleck, for their forthcomingmockumentary. That much is already common knowledge in Hollywood and beyond.
But IUC has learned from sources close to the brilliant rising actor that his Andy Kaufman-like escapades are in fact part of a larger strategy designed to inoculate him from the potential fallout of his imminent decision to come clean about his sexuality.
After they finally reveal that the whole hip hop/David Letterman meltdown thing was a hoax, Phoenix will resume his career where he left off.
But a source close to Affleck reveals that his new edgy image will help Phoenix make the transition from a sex symbol (which requires a public heterosexual facade) to character-driven roles where his sexuality won’t matter. Does that mean the hotties he dated such as Anna Friel, Liv Tyler and a host of other starlets were merely beards? Not necessarily. Like many closeted Hollywood actors, it’s entirely possible that Phoenix is actually bisexual, which always complicates the guessing game. I’ll reserve judgment until I see him walking down a red carpet with the female Stedman, Penelope Cruz, on his arm, usually a surefire tip-off.
Look for Phoenix to become the first Oscar-nominated actor in Hollywood history to come out of the celluloid closet unless, like his buddy Jake “Toothy Tile” Gyllenhaal, his handlers convince him that such a move will be career suicide.

I'd still like to know why the people who say Austin isn't good enough for Jake think that someone who is a big star like Heath is better.
Seems to me that in HW where even straight couples have problems due to professional jealousy that the potential for that would double with a same-sex couple in which both are going after the same roles. Like Heath getting TDK and Jake not, despite some gossip floated about that. Look at George and Brad.

I always felt Jake admired Heath a lot. Jake called him a really nice guy and probably respected him as an actor too. I know I was surprised about the drug rumors about Heath. He came off as mature, intelligent and well spoken in interviews. I don't say the rumors are true, I say I was surpirsed about them. To me he seemed one of those people who knew better.

The app store for Google's G1 phone on the Android platform is selling an app by Bendroid called "Straight?" in the Android Marketplace, Jason Dabrowski reports.
It's a program in which the user touches a finger to the phone's touchscreen, which then broadcasts one of two messages, either "You are THE MAN!" or "Sorry, sweety, you are... :)"
After the app was flagged, a Google employee posted the following response: "Regarding this specific case, though the app may be offensive to some, it is not in violation. Stereotypes in and of themselves do not constitute hate against a group."

I'm happy that the Oscars are going to be a bit toned down this year - normally if someone is rich and famous, I'd say more power to them, knock yourself out and go for it - but this year, where the economy is so bad, it's nice that there's a sensitivity to that. Gorgeous gowns and bling can be a bit of escapism too - so I hope there's plenty of that still. :)
