Happy Birthday Jake Gyllenhaal!

Honesty has a beautiful and refreshing simplicity about it. No ulterior motives. No hidden meanings. An absence of hypocrisy, duplicity, political games, and verbal superficiality. As honesty and real integrity characterize our lives, there will be no need to manipulate others.

Jake Gyllenhaal Did NOT Buy Taylor Swift a $100,000 Bracelet

In yet another instance of dumb and dumber, HollywoodLife picks up a story from In Touch that claims Jake Gyllenhaal bought new lady love Taylor Swift a $100,000 diamond bracelet.
“It’s an Oscar-worthy bracelet — nearly 30 carats of colorless diamonds set in white gold,” HollywoodLife quotes an In Touch “source” as saying. “It cost Jake about $100,000, but he wanted to do something special for Taylor’s birthday.”
Not only that, but HollywoodLife even posted a picture of “a similar” looking bracelet.
Wait, there’s more…
According to their so-called “source,” who knows as much about celebrities as our insurance selling neighbor, Gyllenhaal and Swift “love coffee, so he sent her 21 pounds of the best Kona coffee available, along with a coffee grinder and a coffeemaker… And he made her a birthday card, as opposed to buying a generic one!”
Here’s what HollywoodLife and In Touch got right: NOTHING.
Here’s what HollywoodLife and In Touch got wrong: EVERYTHING.
Gyllenhaal did NOT buy Swift a $100,000 diamond bracelet – or 21 pounds of coffee.

A rep for Gyllenhaal tells Gossip Cop: “All aspects of this are false.”
Additionally, as we noted last week, stories about Gyllenhaal buying Swift a $10,000 guitar are also not true.
For the record, the actor doesn’t throw money around like that, but he does support such charities dear to him as “New Eyes for the Needy” and “The Chez Panisse Foundation.”
P.S. Even our insurance selling neighbor correctly guessed this was all bogus.

I guess I'm in the minority not thinking that bad of the Gyllenhaals. I don't think everything they do, they do for publicity.

So Maggie was posing for Us Weekly with Ramona and the beard because she doesn't care about publicity?

Anonymous said...

IDK, but to me Maggie seems quite successful w/o publicity help.

Then why did Maggie pose for an obvious tabloid piece with the Swifster, with her innocent daughter thrown into the mix? She stayed as far away from Reeke as she could. Yet, only one month into the Swyll showmance, there she is faking photos with Tay Tay. Someone here even posted about how the leaves on the Swyll landscape were in the same place as the Maggie and Tay Tay one. So the whole setup was exactly that. A setup. So you tell me. Why would such a "successful" and "respectable" actress do that? The whole thing was obviously a publicity stunt.

^^Who makes up this shit? Jesus Christ. Of course WFTers will believe Jake's pr started the rumors, only for him to deny it.
Most seem to have such a bad opinion of him. It's just freaky why they are still following him.

I for one don't like DiCaprio. I was turned off by his homophobic remarks, like hating the "bad" rumors about him that he's gay.
He also was extremely dumb in his younger years. I do agree with Winslet though that he grew as a person and got smarter with years. Still not a fan of his personality though. No interest in following him. I do agree that he's a solid actor and when the film he's in intersts me, I'll watch it.

You are probably one of those "they". I for one still like Jake, but am obviously in the minority not thinking everything about him is fake.

Here's an even more interesting question to the naysayers: what aspect of Jake do you like? Do you like his films? Do you like his personality? Do you like his looks? What is it that keeps you interested in him? I'm more interested in what the haters find appealing than what his fans do.

Anonymous said...

I noticed special venom towards Jake's mom. That's strange to me.

Not so strange, if you have followed Jake's career for any length of time. Naomi Foner, along with her best bud, Carrie Byalick, are the ones calling the shots in Jake's career. Both, for instance, were instrumental in persuading Jake not to come out in 2006. They were also directly responsible for this wiggle room statement that was released in early April of the same year. Note how they expressly lied about when Jake met Austin. This purposeful "inaccuracy" is what a lawyer would call a loophole. Everyone knows that Jake did not meet Austin in High School. They met in their auditions for The Day After Tomorrow. Yet, his reps intentionally made that kind of mistake in their official statement about Jake's sexuality for a reason. Just in case someone outed him later on:

"Gay fans of Jake Gyllenhaal are determined to claim the "Brokeback Mountain" star as their own. Blogosphere gossips have been claiming that Gyllenhaal was ready to admit he was having trouble quitting actor Austin Nichols, whom he has known since high school. But sorry, guys, there won't be any coming-out party. Even though Jake is now split with Kirsten Dunst and Nichols broke off his engagement to Claire Oswalt, Gyllenhaal's rep says he and Nichols are just friends."

Anonymous said...

"Do tell what is true and real about Jake! Go on!"

You can't come up with anything 5:44 PM? If you don't, don't tell me you call yourself a fan.

Alright, here's what I like about Jake - Jake is obviously a very caring person. He loves his family and has long term relationships with his friends. He is charming, witty and often funny. He combines a warmth and strengh that's appealing to me. And I like him as an actor, even if I don't like all of his movies.

I don't agree with his tabloid romances which are overshadowing his career. But I'm hopefull he'll grow up in this regard one day.

Once again. This is not a fansite made of nonthinking robots who salivate over Jake Gyllenhaal. There have been plenty of positive things said about Jake over the years. It's his, "I'm straight and normal" crap that inspires the kind of anomosity you see. Love and hate are very close emotions. Jake had a lot of promise. Still does. But, having sex with Anne H. 18 times and saying that LaOD was the "child" of Brokeback Mountain understandably provokes anger in many posters. I suppose you would just have Jake's PR machine steamroll over everyone and passively allow them to continue to spew their lies, without proper rebuttal? I thank the Internet for, at least, allowing everyday folks who pay that $12.00 for a movie ticket to call these professional liars on their manipulations.

Makes perfect sense to me. I remember that statement. It came out just after the infamous Lakers photos with Jake and Austin sharing googly eyes for one another and that when viral over the Internet. Jake's rep knew darn well that Austin was not a friend of his from HS. The poster is correct. The statement was released with an obvious factual error. On purpose.

So, it's a "I dislike Jake G." blog, with a few fans who co-post. Got it.

It's his, "I'm straight and normal" crap that inspires the kind of anomosity you see.

Jake never equated straight with normal. Never. Also he's not the only actor (with gay/bi rumors) who stated that he's straight. Even WFT 2 favourite James Franco stated that he's straight in a magazine.

saying that LaOD was the "child" of Brokeback Mountain

So what if he said it? He probably meant his and Anne's involvement in it and didn't really think it through.

I thank the Internet for, at least, allowing everyday folks who pay that $12.00 for a movie ticket to call these professional liars on their manipulations.

Wow. Did you recently spend $12.00 for any of Jake's movies?
Are you as venomous and passionate towards other actors or just Jake G.?

There are a couple of extrememly hateful posters here who seem to live on this blog. They only see the bad in Jake. They are full of hate, even if they deny it. It's obvious. They don't keep their hate just on this blog but spread it on other blogs, like JJ, where they don't have to register. The writing style is recognizable.

Not playing stupid. There is something wrong with you if you don't realize that your comments about Jake are hateful. You are obsessed with an actor that you don't even like and respect. But you are not the only one, there are 2 or 3 posters just like you.

Read statement again. And, then maybe try to use a dictionary if the words are too complex.

Jake never equated straight with normal. Never. Also he's not the only actor (with gay/bi rumors) who stated that he's straight. Even WFT 2 favourite James Franco stated that he's straight in a magazine

Oh, yes he has. What about statements like, "I think it’s important for ever man to find the right woman and every woman to find the right man,"? Or, his uber heterosexual antics with showmances. He's definitely selling heterosexuality as the only acceptable existence. And, this is not a James Franco blog. Franco has no problem playing gay roles, and doesn't shove fake girlfriends in our faces every other year with high profile publicity stunts.

So what if he said it? He probably meant his and Anne's involvement in it and didn't really think it through.

Oh, I'm sure Jake thought it through. These are not isolated statements from Mr. Gyllenhaal.

I thank the Internet for, at least, allowing everyday folks who pay that $12.00 for a movie ticket to call these professional liars on their manipulations.

Sure. Ever go to a movie at night in Los Angeles or San Francisco. $12.00 is not uncommon. Remember, we have to pay for all his publicists, private plans, fake contracts with women, bodyguards and cleanup squad.

Don't expect people to support Jake's publicity whoring and lies.

Jake played gay in BBM. Franco may not have a beard more famous than him, but he's often at public events with Ahna O'Reilly. Jake liking to be seen with more famous women than he is, is his prerogative, I don't agree with it though.

I've seen this tactic before. Attack the posters, instead of the validity and accuracy of what the individual is saying. Ad hominem attacks they are called. The right wing in this country are experts at this. Anything to shut down debate and make the truth go away. First, I don't post anywhere else. So you better take a writing analysis class. "I for one don't like DiCaprio."

Yes, I am also not his biggest fan but last time I checked he made headlines with a little movie called "Inception" - ever heard of?? - and not with a silly "relationship".

That brings me to Jake - after BBM I thought he is a fearless, free-spirited actor and person. I also thought he would continue to chose challenging roles.

I was wrong - IMO his career went downhill, and then he became tabloid fodder - it is unbelievable how many pap pics we got during the Reese years.

Then he disappeared during the summer and I hoped he would concentrate on his craft with LAOD and SC. I was wrong again.

Now he just looks like a fool, at least to me and I have lost interest. There are other actors like Franco, JGL, Gosling or Hardy worth my time.

But it is interesting to watch the ship sail or sink...

I didn't know that Jake's people issued a written statement about him just being friends with Austin Nichols in 2006. And, then they added that they've known each other since high school and are just friends. You're right. I agree with eveything 6:37 said about Jake. I discovered DD right before BBM came out. I made the mistake of thinking Jake was different, a free spirit who cared about his craft and family more than being a big A-list star.

I still like Jake as an actor, and thought he was good in LAOD even though I thought it was crap.

But as a person the more I see the more I am indifferent to him as a person. I don't hate him, I really do not care enough to feel hate.

Nor am I waiting for him to come out.

I am here because I am interest in HW and gay issues, the closet, how pr works, etc.

Finally, I think of this as my reality show--something that purports to be real, but that is in fact highly scripted and controlled.
Jake is putting on a show, and like any viewer it is my right to watch and give my oinion.

But whatever. Going back to real life.

I'll be back though. (I know you are looking forward to it, lol)

Franco did not say he was straight--he said he wasn't gay, leaving room to think he his bi.

Franco has no problem playing gay over and over again.

Franco had no problem participating in rallies against Prop. 8.

Don't like the fact he has a beard, but he does not use her to sell himself, and at least he uses the beard as cover to be otherwise out there when it comes to gay issues.

Jake has been MIA on gay issues, and has done thing like gagging over men kissing.

One more thing, i have always disliked actors who make themself tabloid fodder, be it staight actors or those in fauxmances.

Anonymous said...

The person who thinks true statements about Jake are hateful must be a teenybopper. Swifts demographic. Still at an age to get their feelings hurt. They will grow out of it once they get to adulthood.

Anonymous said...

Why do you think Swift fans are happy with the match. There is no evidence of this. The poll at the 100,00 bracelet story was rigged. Multiple voting permitted. Attendance at LAOD was largely older women and sad to say most likely there to see Anne not Jake. If the female lead had been an unknown the film may have done even worse.

Anonymous said...

Visit swifts fansites. Or follow her fans on tumblr. They love it. Most of the fans on her fansites are 20 and under as is a good majority of her fanbase. She does reach other demographics but if you go to one of her concerts the crowd is predominately young females. They haven't been around long enough to spot a fauxmance.

And I don't know if it's still there but her official fansite forums used to have a subforum dedicated to rallying the troops to spam message boards, polls and other comment sections in support of Taylor. So I agree with you that that poll was rigged.

Anonymous said...

And for the record Swift's fans tend to support her in any relationship as long as they "look cute together". Hence the Thanksgiving Day Paparazzi Photoshoot.

I think you can see when someone might be hitting a nail on the head or getting awfully close to the truth. This was good:

I've seen this tactic before. Attack the posters, instead of the validity and accuracy of what the individual is saying.

Exactly. Or derail the conversation onto something different from the original point, i.e. the country music/bluegrass/Nashville discussion. Someone made an excellent discovery/pondering on Maggie's quick willingness to participate in Jaylor and somehow the very interesting discussion got derailed into an argument about bluegrass/country music etc.

This derailment was done intentionally because I think someone nailed it.

Michelle Williams Opens Up About Heath Ledger's Death said...

Almost three years after Heath Ledger’s tragic death, Michelle Williams is opening up about how she has coped with his loss.

Here’s what the 30-year-old actress shared with Nightline:

On Heath’s passing: “In a strange way, I miss that year, because all those possibilities that existed then are gone. It didn’t seem unlikely to me that he could walk through a door or could appear behind a bush. It was a year of very magical thinking, and in some ways I’m sad to be moving further and further away from it.”

On handling the news: “I found meanings around the circumstances but the actual event itself I can’t find a, I can’t find it. I can’t find a meaning for it. I can find meanings in things and people and relationships that have sprung up and friendships that have strengthened. I found a lot of meaning in that but not in ‘why.’”

On giving their daughter Matilda a normal childhood: “It’s going well. We’re doing a good job of it. It is of more importance to me than anything in my life. I would rearrange anything to make that possible. If something starts to encroach on that it’s going to be removed from the equation.”

Watch Michelle’s interview, which also includes her Blue Valentine co-star Ryan Gosling.

Yes - on J. Ross show - it made me dislike Jake - at the same show was Adam Lambert who is such a likeable guy and not ashamed of just being himself.

Jake does not need to be the poster boy for gay rights but this gagging spoke volumes - completely unneccassary and not funny.

Obama: 'At This Point' He's Ready To Let Gays Die For America, But Not Marry said...

Barack Obama said yesterday, before signing the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell, that he was "not going to make more news" by trumping this week's big gay news by stating he was suddenly going to back same-sex marriage, an issue on which he's said his views are "evolving." Asked about that position again at Wednesday's post-repeal presser, Obama repeated that his "feelings are constantly evolving" — but still believes is between a man and a woman. Which means, for the time being, Obama publicly supports gay men and women who want to die for their county, but not gay men and women who want to marry the ones they love.

Jake interview with UK Glamour

By Lucy Broadbent

There is a king-size bed in the hotel suite where Jake Gyllenhaal is promoting his latest film. He grabs my hand, stares at me with his penetrating, deep blue eyes, and asks, "Shall we go to bed?" "Or should we do the interview on the sofa first?" he beams flirtatiously. "Get to know each other better."

Anonymous said...

He said thatr he likes to make a women feel special when he is dating her, he can't be talking about those BS stories of him buying Taylor diamond bracelets and guitars.

Odd the interviewer doesn't mention Taylor but mentions Rachel Bilson. This was after the cell pics of jake and Taylor wandering around Brooklyn but before the Us cover, the interviewer had to be aware of the chatter. Perhaps she was told no Taylor questions but asked the generaic are you dating anyone.

Yes it's odd, she mentions that he was rumored to be dating Rachel Bilson, that's an old rumor, Swift is current. She didn' ask him about Rachel, but that was he dating anyone and he said no.

Why not say he is rumored to be dating Swift, then ask the generic are you dating anyone. It's like she hadn't heard about the rumors which would be odd. Swift is popular in the UK and they heard the rumors.

Jake is a liar anyway. We know he isn't dating anyine but after the UK press junket he flew back to Brooklyn to do a photo-op with Swift and Co.

I'm more interested in his comments about making a woman feel special, especially in light of his intro to the reporter to have the interview in bed, boy is he pushing it.

Why would anyone with a brain even mention Bilson, they were never seen together, the rumor is old and it was denied.
Most likely they were told no swift questions, not even a sidebar mention in a print article, look what happened when they asked about her and Anne took over the question and he never answered, LOL!!

Was that here or the UK??

Too bad he didn't go into detail about what he does tomake a woman feel special, hee.

Please read the article: "... and more recently he has been linked with Rachel Bilson".

There was no reason to mention TS, the interview was done before Us Weekly photo shoot and from Brooklyn pictures no one would conclude that they are dating.

Dustin Lance Black Isn't Having Leonardo DiCaprio Dress In Drag said...

Screenwriter Dustin Lance Black concluded during his research that while J. Edgar Hoover, the FBI's first director, was probably gay, he likely did not cross-dress. Which means Leonardo DiCaprio, who's playing Hoover in J. Edgar, won't be put in any lady frocks by the costume designers. He will, however, still be smooching Armie Hammer, who played both Winklevoss twins in The Social Network.

Just read the UK Glamour interview. As usual, Jake is acting... in interviews. It's been years since I've read or watched an interview with Jake where I get the sense that he's being himself. It's all a character, and an old, played-out one, at that. I just don't find him funny or charismatic or charming anymore. I find him tired. I even get the sense that he's tired of himself.

My little sis is way into Taylor Swift, and I've been subjected to her cute little ego and her manufactured music for years now. Swift is beyond irritating, and utterly talentless. Even as a beard, I don't see how Jake could stand to spend much time with her.

In 2008 I saw Ryan Gosling a the downtown Los Angeles YMCA several times! No kidding. He joined there for like one minute. I know it's hard to believe but it's 100% true. I walked into the steam room once and he was in there alone with just a young gay latino hottie. They were doing something because when I walked in, I saw an outstretched arm quickly wrap their towel around their waist and leave. The latino that remained had an erection and continued to sit there. He probably didn't even know who Ryan Gosling was. I'm not saying Gosling is gay, but if has a predilection for any type of guy it's probably latinos.

Something really weird but remember the internet troll whose argument against Jake being bi or gay is that people are somehow perpetuating homophobia if they dare think Jake might be bi/gay?

Well I ran into that stupid lame-ass Adam Levine quote about 'will people please stop calling Jake gay man, I love this guy and it perpetuates weid homophobia...'

And I thought holy fuck is Adam the internet troll?! The nuances of the wording sounded so similar and whiny-insistent. Also a lot of celebs trawl the internets.

Not saying I defo think it is but would anything surprise? It's just the kind of haphazard logic dressed as pseudo-intellectualism that troll uses. Like s/he thinks it actually benefits people personally to have Jake gay. No it doesn't, we just think he might be!

Yes - on J. Ross show - it made me dislike Jake - at the same show was Adam Lambert who is such a likeable guy and not ashamed of just being himself.

Jake does not need to be the poster boy for gay rights but this gagging spoke volumes - completely unneccassary and not funny.

ANON 6:50pm, You are Wrong. If I can remember the poster (myself) said that claiming Jake is gay when he has said he is not, then bitching about it on blogs and the net about your belief as a fact, is a form of bullying. He may be gay, so what? Until he admits it or comes out, it's his business. He may be bisexual and likes both sexes. Maybe you are one of those folks who thinks bisexuals can only be female and there is no place for male bisexuals in society. Only gay or straight men. Whatever his sexual preference is, he's not bothering anyone. The bullying is when you badger someone about what their sexual preference is when.....
You know what bullying means and it's done on some of the Jake sites and here.

As for Adam, maybe he feels the same as I do, and in that case, leave the guy alone.

Nothing on US Weekly this week. InTouch has the 100K birthday present story (hollywood life) and Life&Style the "Taylor has Jake wrapped around her little finger because he's fallen so hard… that he's the one chasing after her so everything's on her time, her rules. She's in control and has Jake right where she wants him." story (jezebel).

Taylor Swift is a fake idiot.
Love how she says "y'all" and talks with a cute little accent when she's from... Pennsylvania.
There's this "behind the scenes" doc from the taping of the Thanksgiving Special she did with NBC. She makes everyone stop in the middle of a rehearsal because she's pretending she's writing a new song in her head and she has to write it down. It just suddenly came to her - like an angel from the lord.
Her fans are like nine years old.
Jake's taste in beards has steadily declined since the days of Kiki.

It's very quiet on the Jake front. 2 or 3 tweets placing him in NYC and now nothing the last few days. Wonder if it's like the calm before the storm. We didn't get the expected birthday weekend photo op, so maybe they're saying it for a big, all of the family Christmas one. Being that Jake hasn't been seen around with the new beard lately that his PR actually did damage control and are ending the showmance? That would mean they pay attention and want to help their clients career instead of sabotaging it.

The Don't Play stupid TROLL/Jake-Hater/Fan will always use the "Don't Play Stupid" BS when s/he has no answer or logic. I agree there are at least 3 people on this site that have nothing, I mean NOTHING good to say about Jake. It has to be that he has not come out (for them), otherwise why continue with the hateful lame arguments and comment. Now it's directed towards his mother. So What if she is working behind the scene for his career. I don't believe she is at all. But, So what, you don't like what you think is going on, there are other young handsome actors to drool over. Then some claim to have to pay money for his movies. Why go see them. It's obvious they don't like him. They claim he's lying to them, "personally".
WHAT??

As the poster said, there are other open actors to support, why not them. Because they want to continue hateful and mean comments and love when others follow their lead. Franco and a whole host of other handsome HW actors have gay/bi rumors, but they only have it in for Jake.
Sad and disturbing really. The problem is, is that these hateful "fans" don't see how stupid they look on a Jake fansite bitching about how he's living "his" life and what they precieve as fact or fiction in "his" life. SAD.

^^ another thing, I'm here because I am a fan of Jake's. I don't think he's perfect just as no one else is. I don't care one bit what his sexual preference is anymore. I have my beliefs but it don't make it true and I don't care. Why should I get over emotional about someone else's sexual preference and if they choose to hide it or not.

Trailer for 'Source Code,' Jake Gyllenhaal's New Movie (VIDEO)

It looks like a terrible dream for Jake Gyllenhaal -- and a wild, fun ride for us.

Gyllenhaal is back in soldier fatigues in his new movie, 'Source Code,' in which he plays a soldier in a very violent version of 'Groundhog Day.' He has to keep reliving the last eight minutes of peoples' lives until he figures out who killed them -- and you thought Bill Murray's situation with Ned Ryerson was bad. In this case, he's trying to figure out who set off a bomb on a commuter train -- and maybe save a love interest in the process.

It's a pretty wild trailer, and definitely a flick to keep an eye on. 'Source Code' is directed by Duncan Jones, who made his debut with last year's cult hit 'Moon,' and co-stars Michelle Monaghan and 'Up in the Air' star Vera Farmiga.

'Source Code' hits theaters on April 15, 2011.

As someone who watched a dear friend lose their young child to cancer (after a terrible 2 year battle), I don’t care who he sleeps (real or pretend) with when he does nice things like this. Richard Chamberlain: Gay Leading Men Should Remain Closeted

The one-time leading man tells the Advocate:

Q: You were a wildly successful closeted actor during a period of time when coming out was unheard of, but the climate of acceptance has significantly changed in recent years. How do you feel about gay actors who still remain closeted as we near 2011?

A: "It’s complicated. There’s still a tremendous amount of homophobia in our culture. It’s regrettable, it’s stupid, it’s heartless, and it’s immoral, but there it is. For an actor to be working is a kind of miracle, because most actors aren’t, so it’s just silly for a working actor to say, “Oh, I don’t care if anybody knows I’m gay” — especially if you’re a leading man. Personally, I wouldn’t advise a gay leading man–type actor to come out."

Q: When can a leading man come out — when he’s 69 and promoting a memoir?

A: "I have no idea. Despite all the wonderful advances that have been made, it’s still dangerous for an actor to talk about that in our extremely misguided culture. Look at what happened in California with Proposition 8. Please, don’t pretend that we’re suddenly all wonderfully, blissfully accepted."

Chamberlain was outed by French magazine Nous Deux in 1989 but only publicly came out in his 2003 autobiography, Shattered Love, at the age of 69.

Jake said...

Mr Chamberlain is right, but 69 is a bit too early for coming out!

Chamberlain is perpetuating homophobia with ignorant comments like this:

"...it’s still dangerous for an actor to talk about that in our extremely misguided culture."

Dangerous? What Chamberlain really means is that these pampered leading men types wouldn't be able to live the cushy, self indulgent lifestyle they've grown accustomed to because of the luck of the draw or inside access through family connections. Social and equal justice is not suppose to be easy and safe. If it were so easy to acquire there would be no need for words like "courage" "character" and "revolutionary" in our vocabulary. The first step would be for actors like Jake to stop selling themselves as something they are not. As has been said many times on this forum, it's Jake's relentless pimping of "I'm straight and love my blond, blue-eyed bimbos so much," that makes people gag and cringe.

I'm sure First Lieutenant, Daniel Choi, would not agree with Chamberlain's cowardly and pragmatic assessment. If people only did what was practical and safe, nothing would ever change.

Sometimes the real closeted Hollywood actors are the ones we least expect them to be, or some who are too obvious like Zac Efron.
