Interview with Jake Gyllenhaal
We talk to the Day After Tomorrow star.

Jake Gyllenhaal, at 23, has notched an enviable variety of small and character-driven films in his relatively few years as an actor. Through shrewd selection of parts, Jake has built up a reputation as the go-to-guy for directors looking for the "thoughtful teen" roles so popular in independent and modestly budgeted Hollywood productions. Yeah, we know that sounds snarky, but it's true. Gyllenhaal has brilliantly chewed up the screen on such IGN favorites as October Sky, The Good Girl, Highway and Lovely and Amazing. Although it was his role as the title character in Richard Kelly's Donnie Darko that made most people wake up and take note of Jake. Infusing the character with a deep, brooding manner and quiet elegance, Gyllenhaal broke out in ways most actors can only dream of.

Jake now toplines this summer's effects extravaganza, The Day After Tomorrow. Starring as Sam Hall, the son of a climatologist stuck in New York City during a flood and subsequent deep-frosted ice age, Jake navigates through water, ice, and even runs from a roaming pack of wolves. We recently spent some time with the young actor on a tornado-free Los Angeles summer day.

Q: Do you have a mentor?

JAKE GYLLENHAAL: Yep, I do. I have a mentor. I have...guides. I have a lot of guides. Not a lot, but people whose opinions I really respect and who I will turn to. A little while ago, they used to be in the business of acting, or movies, but now they're not at all.

Q: Were you encouraged to act as a kid, because you come from an acting family?

GYLLENHAAL: Yeah, I was. My parents destroyed my life as a child. (Laughs jokingly) No... my parents, my family... I grew up on movie sets, so it was something I just found familiar. When I was growing up also, in high school, I would audition for things and my parents let me audition for things – with the thought that I wouldn't get them. And then I would get them...sometimes, and it would surprise them. Not that they didn't think I could. (Laughs) When I did, it was like they told me I couldn't do it. Which now I thank them for more than anything. But, I hated them at the time for it. I thought it was everything I wanted to do then.

Q: What would you would be auditioning for?

GYLLENHAAL: Movies. I mean, they let me audition for school plays and do them, which was really nice of them. I remember a friend of mine's mother was an agent, and she sort of went, 'Oh yeah, whatever, we'll look for things.' So we started looking for things, and I just would go on auditions, you know, professional auditions and rehearse with my dad. The best thing that I got was rehearsing with my father. It was always about the process of figuring things out, and trying something new, and having another take on something and keeping it alive. So I started to fall in love with it because I worked with him like that. That encouraged me. It was more creative than it was professional when I was little.

Q: Was it ever competitive with Maggie, or were you always supportive?

GYLLENHAAL: No, please. I don't know who you think I am. (Laughs) We were always competitive when we were little. Up until very recently, we've been really competitive. And then there came a time, where we just said to each other, 'This is useless. I'm never gonna get the roles that you're gonna get,' for the reasons I hope people know, because she's my SISTER. (Laughs) In this business competition between siblings is ridiculous. You need each other. When she just recently went through her whole press fiasco for Secretary, she needed me...and I was there for her. I need her now because she has experience that I haven't had, and she's been through the whirlwind of press. I can talk to her about it, and competition just doesn't work – it just didn't work after a while.

My sister was in a movie called Secretary. She was nominated for a Golden Globe. And there was a lot of talk about her being nominated for an Academy Award for it. It was just a really big breakthrough performance. It was an independent film that was very small. Her performance was just recognized, out of all of those independent films that come out every year, as just extraordinary ... It was just an overwhelming thing for her. A great thing, but also overwhelming.

Q: Was it weird for you to play a dude in high school?

GYLLENHAAL: Yeah, but it's like he's never really in high school. He's written as 17 years old, but I never approached it like that. I approached this movie like ... I'm gonna show up, it was an exercise for me, selfishly. I'm gonna show up every day on set, and I'm going to be just presenting what they wanted me to do. There's very little subtext in the dialogue that I have to say. And I really need to try to make it as real as possible. The only reality that I can really bring to it is where I am now. Wherever I am. So it was just like, 'Relax, Jake. You don't have to force the character. If he's 17 years old, that's fine. Let people say he's 17 years old, you don't have to play 17 years old.' It was just showing up every day. Just being present, and not worrying so much about... I hate when older actors play younger and they're wide-eyed! Everything's so incredible! And you're like, 'I don't know what YOUR childhood was like, but it wasn't that incredible.'

Q: You say your parents discouraged you from acting...wanted to give you a "normal" childhood. What sorts of summer jobs have you had? Good and bad.

GYLLENHAAL: It was all pretty good. I was a lifeguard for three summers in a row. For two summers, I was simultaneously a lifeguard and a bus boy at a restaurant. So I'd work from 7am and then I'd get off at 5pm. And then I'd go to the restaurant and work from 5pm to midnight. I thought that was fun...I don't really know why now. But I had a really great time doing that.

Q: Did you ever get to save anyone or give mouth-to-mouth?

GYLLENHAAL: No, someone had got stung by a man-o-war once, and I peed on their leg. That's the extent of my lifeguard experience. That was it. It was a pretty tame beach in many ways. But occasionally, I would really like to just pick up the lifeguard buoy and run down the beach like something was actually happening – Baywatch style.

Q: How fair is it to compare this film to [Roland Emmerich's] Independence Day?

GYLLENHAAL:Well, it's not fair because it's better. I like to look at it like, this is my legitimizing of a big movie, but it's like independent-Independence Day. Like, it actually has something to say and is based in reality.

Q: Independence Day really didn't have a message, but this one does. Is it okay to have a movie like this where the message is so...blatant?

GYLLENHAAL: I've been talking to journalists and reporters, and they say, 'Wow, your movie has a message.' I'm like, 'What world am I living in?' Aren't movies made to have something to say? Why make a movie if you don't have something to say? What are you doing it for? Are you doing it because you want to make a lot of money? That's fine. Are you doing it because you want a lot of attention? That's fine. But, if you're going to spend seven months of your life – for me seven months, for Roland Emmerich, 3, 4, 5 years of his life – doing something, I think you have to have something to say. So it's kind of ridiculous somewhere in me, I think, that in America you can say, 'It's surprising that this movie has something to say.' Because, that's what America is about. It is surprising ... I think it's a subject that is a pretty easy subject to be talking about. It's non-partisan, everybody knows that it's something we need to pay attention to: the environment, global warming. Pretty much everybody in the world knows its happening. Especially my generation was brought up on Earth Day and recycling. We had our first recycling bins at school, I remember that. ... So I was brought up on that. So I know it's a really important thing, it's always been non-partisan and important.

Q: Your sister hooked you up with your current girlfriend and you seem to be in a really good place. Tell us about that.

GYLLENHAAL: (Laughs) About my sister being a madam? Is that what you mean?

Q: Having one of the few normal relationships in this town...

GYLLENHAAL: Well, it's hard to maintain. But, it's great. I think it's hard to maintain any relationship. But, Kirsten [Dunst] and I both know what's real and what's not. I think we really are open with each other in our relationship about everything that is going on, and that's been a deal we had from the very beginning. So, it's not that hard. We know we're actors, we know what happens when you're both actors, the attention that you get and what people want to see. If we didn't want to have that, we wouldn't be actors. So, we have that part of our life, and we have the part of our life that we share together that has nothing to do with being actors at all.

Q: Do you get a kick out of it? Reading it in the magazines? Some people like it, some hate it...

GYLLENHAAL: We get the magazines just fine, because, you know, it's funny to me that people find other people getting coffee really interesting, or walking their dog in the dog park. But when you're doing it, and it's the only time that you have to have any free time, it gets annoying. It does get annoying, and I can't say that I don't get upset about it. But there's no reason to get upset about it, because there's also great things that come with the same side. I understand why it would bother some people. For some people it's really bad.

Q: Would you ever want to work together?

GYLLENHAAL: Yeah. I mean, it's funny. Before I even met her, she was like...she's at the top of her game. She's the best young actress, I think, in our age group. She really has an amazing career, she's incredibly talented, and before I even met her, I wanted to work with her. But, we respect our audience too. Like, reading it in a magazine right now is enough.

Q: Are you going to keep making big films like this? Or balance it with smaller indie films?

GYLLENHAAL: Well, after this movie, I did a movie called Proof with John Madden, Gwyneth Paltrow, Anthony Hopkins and Hope Davis – which was a really incredible experience. That is a smaller-sized film. I'm about to go do a movie with Ang Lee called Brokeback Mountain, which is with Heath Ledger. So, already I'm back kind of doing sort of smaller films. But, they have a little bit more profile to them, you know? But, yes, I'm going to continue doing what I want to do. And if it means I want to go and make a big movie, if it has something to say, I will want to make it. I don't want to spend my life wasting my time. If it's a big movie, I want to do it. If it's a small movie, I want to do it. I don't care how much I get paid for it. I don't care what attention it brings, or what attention I have to bring to it – I'll do it anyway.

Toothy would make this lady blow lines off his, umm, little Toothy Tile, until he was "numb," bitched the gal who did the blowing. Then they could get down to business in what we're told were very "interesting" positions, i.e., painfully unnatural and not exactly enjoyable.

Posters have jumped to the conclusion that this must mean anal but I don't think Ted, as a gay man, would use the word "unnatural" to mean anal. Also anal isn't necessarily painful at all speaking from personal experience. Depends on the active partner really.
Could be deap-throating oral. Would be unconfortable if the guy is numb and can't come for ages.

One Gag Me With Cocaine Blind Vice

Toothy Tile, we hardly knew ya. Last week it was signed confidentiality agreements with your male paramours (other than your main man); this week it's far, far, far worse: pretend, horrible sex with a member of the opposite sex, in hopes that your studly reputation will somehow be fixed. Ain't gonnna work—here's why:

Repeat Blind Vice offender Toothy has a former fling running her (yes, her) mouth around town about a drug-infested hookup with Mr. Tile. Do tell, babes! Apparently, T.T. banged said blabber to try to prove to himself—or more importantly, the powers that be (managers, publicists, the public) that he isn't gay. See, the more chicks he hooks, the farther back in the closet he goes; just how his handlers want it.

Eh, not really the best plan, as Tooth's last female "lover," if you could call her that, has been yapping away about her evening with the now A-list famous type. But it wasn't exactly candles and cuddles like you'd think.

Try tons of coke. Toothy would make this lady blow lines off his, umm, little Toothy Tile, until he was "numb," bitched the gal who did the blowing. Then they could get down to business in what we're told were very "interesting" positions, i.e., painfully unnatural and not exactly enjoyable.

As disturbing as this news is, we must say we feel a bit sorry for our beloved Tooth (not to mention the used honey). This all took place, we're told, before Tile hooked up with his current beard, right when he was adamantly told not to come out, so it's no wonder he turned to drugs.

What's next? Meth with Morgan Mayhem? Pray not.

And It Ain't: All 3 Jonas Bros.

Always wondered if this BI from August 2006 was about Jake. Fits in with depressed summer.

"Which handsome Hollywooder - the one all the gay blind items are about - actually took a girl back to his room after a night of drinking at the Tribeca Grand? When she was surprised by the technique he suggested, he told her, "I don't want a paternity suit on my hands."

Remember oral sex also avoids paternity.

TIPS TO LIVE BY

VETERAN public relations man Howard Bragman says he had the three key ingredients to making it big in the world of show business. "I grew up a fat, Jewish, gay guy . . . In Hollywood, those are the first three rungs up the ladder of success," Bragman, founder of Bragman Nyman Cafarelli, writes in his new book, "Where's My Fifteen Minutes?" He adds that growing up gay in Flint, Mich., was "a little like that 'Twilight Zone' episode with a whole planet full of deformed people and they make fun of the normal guy."

Pretend? Toothy didn't come or something during a bj?
I think that blows the idea of anal sex out of the water. That isn't pretend.

Hm... pretend as the sex Toothy didn't (really) want?

STFU Jack/Jeff

I wholehartedly agree. Jack/Jeff can't stand the thought that his beloved Reese would "fake date" a closeted dude.
Well, Jack sweetie, it's far more likely he's gay or bi than straight.
What a freak!

But I dont believe they were ever close friends.

I don't agree with the "ever". They seemed very close to me during promotional tour. If they remained as close is another question. I'm betting no one here knows.

Congressman Barney Frank 'Disappointed' by Warren Invite

Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank released a statement today in reaction to Obama's invitation to anti-gay Pastor Rick Warren to give the invocation at the presidential inauguration.

Said Frank:

"I am very disappointed by President-elect Barack Obama's decision to honor Reverend Rick Warren with a prominent role in his inauguration.Religious leaders obviously have every right to speak out in opposition to anti-discrimination measures, even in the degrading terms that Rev. Warren has used with regard to same-sex marriage. But that does not confer upon them the right to a place of honor in the inauguration ceremony of a president whose stated commitment to LGBT rights won him the strong support of the great majority of those who support that cause.

"It is irrelevant that Rev. Warren invited Senator Obama to address his congregation, since he extended an equal invitation to Senator McCain. Furthermore, the President-Elect has not simply invited Rev. Warren to give a speech as part of a series in which various views are presented. The selection of a member of the clergy to occupy this uniquely elevated position has always been considered a mark of respect and approval by those who are being inaugurated."

Celebrity Sagittarius Jake Gyllenhaal Profile

Jake Gyllenhaal is a Sagittarius, a sign commonly associated with strong opinions. But Jake's Sag Sun is conjunct dreamy and imaginative Neptune, which makes him more comfortable engaging the public as an actor reading someone else's lines than speaking his own.

Jake Gyllenhaal is a Sagittarius, born December 19, 1980 at 8:06 pm in Los Angeles. This outgoing and enthusiastic sign is a natural for self-expression, but usually prefers to share its own ideas rather than read from a script. Jake's Sagittarius Sun, though, is joined with Neptune, the planet of imagination, in the Fifth House of his chart, the sector associated with creativity and play. This is an excellent combination for an actor because it reflects Jake's need to perform along with an ability to alter his personality to fit each role. Neptune's taste for illusion permits him to go from tender to tough with ease. His Oscar-nominated role as a man who loves men in 'Brokeback Mountain' and his tough U.S. Marine in 'Jarhead' demonstrate the range that has made him one of Hollywood's top young male stars. His choice of parts, too, shows how daring Jake is, willing to risk his career in 'Brokeback' by entering forbidden territory for most leading men. Sagittarians generally like to take risks. The excitement of danger -- physical, emotional or professional -- addresses this sign's need to go where others fear to tread.

Venus, the planet of love, artistry and beauty, also reveals Jake's interest in breaking the rules. His is in Sagittarius, which reinforces his Sun's interest in chancy activities. But it's a close conjunction between his Venus and revolutionary Uranus that really sets him apart. Venus conjunct Uranus makes for unusual tastes, appreciation for the strange and unusual, and relationships in which freedom is more important than security. Jake's interest in arty films is not an actor's pretension, but a real desire to participate in projects that shatter old images and invent new ways to tell stories with film. It's often a sign of open-mindedness when it comes to love. Jake once said, "You know, it's flattering when there's a rumor that says I'm bisexual. It means I can play more kinds of roles. I'm open to whatever people want to call me. I've never really been attracted to men sexually, but I don't think I would be afraid of it if it happened."

Jake's Moon -- the planet of emotions and moods -- is in adaptable Gemini, underscoring his ability to change attitudes, appearances and roles with relative ease. Diverse Gemini is hungry for variety, which is ideal for actors who have to reinvent themselves in every part they play. Jake's Ascendant (Rising Sign) is Leo, another positive attribute for someone in the public eye. The Ascendant is one's image, what we see when we first meet them, and none is better for presenting a powerful persona than Leo. This confident and dramatic sign knows how to get attention and keep it. It's the perfect staging point for Jake's diverse talents, boundless imagination and gift for presenting new concepts in an entertaining form.

METAL MONKEY Horoscope
Feb 20, 1920 to Feb 7, 1921
Feb 16, 1980 to Feb 4, 1981

Monkey people, on their merry way to becoming famous, like to strew memorable bits of impishness and practical jokes along the way. Lots of fun, they also possess a serious side and influence a good many people throughout their lifetime. They know how to accomplish the most difficult of tasks with the greatest of enthusiasm, concentration, and ease. Even so, they can easily get discouraged and confused and MUST do things their way! They often become great mathematicians, super chess players, researchers, entrepreneurs or scientists. And, great mentors! Monkeys have a burning passion for knowledge of every kind and they magically are surrounded by the finer things in life. Life is a big adventure!

Duck Soup and Rice are among the keys to good health!!

When Metal Monkey says no, that's it! They are so strong, so individualistic, and yes, so stubborn, you can talk yourself into the ground trying to convince them to change their mind. They won't budge! But when all is said and done, you admire them for their value system, fortitude, soaring ambition, and tremendous success. Success, after all, is not wishy washy. And Monkeys know the meaning of hard work! What fun the metal monkey is to be around! You can talk about anything under the moon, but beware: they can be pretty persuasive, so stand your ground. Sometimes a Sense of Mischief can rear its head: Sometimes this habit of playing tricks on others leads to a fun round of belly laughter, but other times, too much! They can't always get along with some people because of this mischievous streak. But they don't care. You see, they are quite independent, relying solely on themselves. They have few friends, but great ones. And Grand Romance never takes a holiday with them: a life with Monkeys is Stars in Your Eyes, Romantic High Spirit, and Grand Passion indeed.

Famous Monkey people: Elizabeth Taylor, Charles Dickens, Lyndon Johnson, Eleanor Roosevelt, Nelson Rockefeller, Leonardo da Vinci, Simone de Beauvoir, Isaac Stern, George Lucas

Good point !I don't know what to thing , but for sure it's suspicious now!

Anonymous said...

The sad thing is, I think TT is quite capable of the behaviour in the latest Blind Vice, it's the rule rather than the exception in HW, I think.

Anonymous said...

^^^^

Yes,a lot of actors like to play wild in private but it's the way Ted writes the column that makes me think he is just having fun doing it. I think Toothy saga became too bizarre and self parodic.
But i'm not complaining, i still enjoy it and have a lot of laughs reading it!

Anonymous said...

So you don't think Toothy really did this, it's just Ted taking a little creative license?

Anonymous said...

I have to wonder if it is Ted's way of backing out of the TT saga. I think either Reese's PR or Jake's PR have gotten to him. I'd call them sharks, but it would be an insult to the sharks. I still think he or they want to distance him from Brokeback, the Brokeback fandom, and anything having to do with the gay, including OMG and WFT2. If they make Ted look asridiculous, or the TT story as outrageous, as possible, they think that's the way to do go. Meanwhile, making him look like father of the year to children who are not his, and who never will be his. Playing to the majority of fans, and the arthouse, independent fans no longer needed, until the next film he does, after the dust settles.

You are a hausfrau thinker. Not everyone is as into the sappy as you. 4:14 said it perfectly. They would be simply stupid to do that now or last year. Look for a surrogate, spend money and time, when they have not secured anything, when they are busy making their future as actors. Not even Wicked and Eastcoast TB over at OMG believe this cheesy story about BT. I don't get how some of Jake's fans don't see that something seems not ok with the man. They say he's tired and pissed at the papz, but look at the new pics, he's pale and seems shell shocked.
Even if he is with Reese for real, I don't think he's happy with this patch work family. On top of that the situation with Heath and his parents.
Don't get me wrong I'm still annoyed about the Reeke photo ops, esp. in inappropriate times. But this set of pics made me feel a bit sorry for him.
Or maybe I'm just paranoid (and sentimental because it's his birthday) and am just seeing things and it's really just him being tired and annoyed at papz (assuming they didn't arrange the photo op this time)?

My Publisher’s Assets Have Been Seized

Cantarabooks may be in some trouble. Hopefully, it will be worked out soon, but there is a complicated legal situation and the company’s assets have been seized, including the publisher and editor’s personal assets–literally every penny they have in the world. Their rent money. Their grocery money. They are a small family business, and they own no property. This is all they have.

I don’t even completely understand it, but it sounds essentially like they are being harassed by a crazy person that they made the mistake of working for several years ago. And how it affects me is only that I might not get my piddling royalty check at the first of January, and, worst case, I might eventually have to look for another publisher to put out Billy Wayne Carter in paperback, or publish it myself. I hope it doesn’t come to that.

More to the point, I just want to say publicly that my interactions with Cantarabooks have always been professional and reasonable. Sure, it hasn’t been perfect, but the whole e-book experiment and their approach to publishing is relatively uncharted territory, and I feel that they’ve done the best they could. I’m still honored that they thought my book was good enough to publish it, even though they don’t have the resources to do much promotion, and the book hasn’t sold as well as I initially hoped it would.

Moreover, at this time when mainstream publishers are all in panic-mode, it’s more important than ever that small, independent publishing houses have the support of the literary community. It’s vital to their very survival and to the survival of literature as we know it.

Another thing. According to my publisher, Cantarabooks has not actually been served with any legal judgment or even a lawsuit. How this person has managed to freeze their assets is, at this point, a mystery. More on this story as it develops.

Below is excerpted from an email I received from the publisher, Cantara Christopher.

No, I don't think BT is scandalous - I think media and general public would think so.

^ It would be terribly scandalous with Jake running around with Reese. Let me change that out of respect for him. Jake dating Reese and being a surrogate stepdad to her children while hiding his surrogate REAL child because of shame is beyond scandalous. It's also Stupid and Really self centered. And why is Austin not proud of the baby. If they wanted a baby, deal with it and stop pretending. So, I don't think they have one.
Please leave the emotions out of this one.

Prop. 8 sponsors seek to nullify 18K gay marriages

The sponsors of Proposition 8 asked the California Supreme Court on Friday to nullify the marriages of the estimated 18,000 same-sex couples who exchanged vows before voters approved the ballot initiative that outlawed gay unions. The Yes on 8 campaign filed a brief arguing that because the new law holds that only marriages between a man and a woman are recognized or valid in California, the state can no longer recognize the existing same-sex unions.

"Proposition 8's brevity is matched by its clarity. There are no conditional clauses, exceptions, exemptions or exclusions," reads the brief co-written by Pepperdine University law school dean Kenneth Starr, the former independent counsel who investigated President Bill Clinton. The campaign submitted the document in response to three lawsuits seeking to invalidate Proposition 8, a constitutional amendment adopted last month that overruled the court's decision in May that briefly legalized gay marriage in the nation's most populous state.

Both Attorney General Jerry Brown, whose office is scheduled to submit its own brief to the court Friday, and gay rights groups maintain that the gay marriage ban may not be applied retroactively.

The Supreme Court could hear arguments in the litigation as soon as March. The measure's backers announced Friday that Starr, a former federal judge and U.S. solicitor general, had signed on as their lead counsel and would argue the cases. The new brief provides a preview of how Proposition 8's supporters plan to defend the measure.

Along with revealing for the first time that they object to carving an exception for already-married couples — a position that puts the future of thousands of unions in jeopardy — it asserts that the Supreme Court lacks the authority or historical precedent to throw out Proposition 8. "For this court to rule otherwise would be to tear asunder a lavish body of jurisprudence," the court papers state. "That body of decisional law commands judges — as servants of the people — to bow to the will of those whom they serve — even if the substantive result of what people have wrought in constitution-amending is deemed unenlightened."

Reese PR went out of its way to say they would be attending a pageant. They practically invited the paps so the look of annoyance was just for show.

Ted has said in his regular column several times that Jake is not as he seems, so the BI is not that out of left field.

When baby tile was conceived, they were on the verge of coming out. Jake changed his mind later. It's not like they can undo a baby just because things worked out differently. Just like the bearding. Don't think Austin would agree to it today knowing what he knows now.

Reeke PR definitely made sure that the Christmas paegent was a photo shoot. So that means that by tommorrow we should have surprise pictures from the papas of the "private and lavish birthday party for Jake that Reese has planned". I'm sure that those paps will surprise and annoy them just like the ones from the Christmas pagent did. It's also obvious way PR went out of it's way to make sure the the pagent and birthday party were out there; Reese needs to take attention away from the Ryan and Abbie in Austrialia for the holidays with her family and the rumors that this means they are getting married. Reese can't stand it and has to try and take as much attention away as possible. Just like her impromptu trip with Jake and the kids and nanny to Mexico when Ryan's movie opened.

Ted will never out anybody. He is a gossip columnist. If started giving away the names of all of his blind vices, a)he wouldn't be talking gossip anymore and b)none of his "spies" would talk to him anymore for fear of being found out. Also, Jake will never ever come out. Even if Reese dumps him tommorrow, can you imagine how if would look for Reese if even 5 yrs from now Jake came out? Reese would look like an idiot that she was dating/living with her "so suportive new man in her life" that apparently proposed marriage every week and she never knew he was gay? As Ted said, he cemented himself in the closet.

Interesting that "Try tons of coke. Toothy would make this lady blow lines off his, umm, little Toothy Tile, until he was "numb," bitched the gal who did the blowing." has been now changed to tight little bod Heh!

Original BV:

Try tons of coke. Toothy would make this lady blow lines off his, umm, little Toothy Tile, until he was "numb," bitched the gal who did the blowing. Then they could get down to business in what we're told were very "interesting" positions, i.e., painfully unnatural and not exactly enjoyable.

Current version:

Try tons of coke. Toothy would make this lady blow lines all over his tight bod until he was “numb,” bitched the gal who did the blowing. Then they could get down to business in what we're told were very "interesting" positions, i.e., painfully unnatural and not exactly enjoyable.

Anonymous said...

What'd he do? Tie her up? Plus it sounds like an angry sex - he "made" her blow lines off him, then got down to business in painfully unnatural and not exactly enjoyable positions. Wasn't there a rumor about him dating a stripper going around? Sounds rather angry and abusive for our sweet Tooth, that's why I find it a bit outrageous, and suspiciously similar to certain slash stories out there. JMO.

Anonymous said...

So, if some of you find nothing outrageous about that, then you weren't smart enough to pick up on it, or find nothing wrong with abusive behavior towards women. I said it's rather outrageous for someone who appears as nice as Jake, and who doesn't appear to be a cruel person.

Anonymous said...

LOL

Did you ever heard about rough sex? Spanking? Sadomasochism?
It has nothing to do with "abusive behavior".

Anonymous said...

The BV states that it wasn't enjoyable for the woman. That implies it was abusive, and where the line is drawn.

Anonymous said...

It also says it was painful. The fact that she went through with it anyway suggest she was a hooker, possibly.

Anonymous said...

Men tend to be a bit more abusive to hookers and strippers, as opposed to wives and girlfriends, the "good girls". The BV sugges that a little spanking, rough sex, and S&M, instead of being fun, went over the line to become abusive and objectifying the woman involved.

Anonymous said...

"painfully unnatural and not exactly enjoyable" - not painful, just very unnatural.

Anonymous said...

Not exactly enjoyable - means not enjoyable. Painfully unnatural means just that - painfully unnatural. He wouldn't have used the word painful otherwise. Your reading comprehension needs work. That suggests to me S&M, and with the previous BV about confidentiality agmts, a paid escort for that purpose.

Anonymous said...

Oral, anal and other acts are not painful and are enjoyable. So what else could it be? A darker side of our Toothy is being presented, which I don't really believe. I think this BV is embellished. So I gotta wonder what else in the TT story has been embellished.

Anonymous said...

^^And those acts are natural, I forgot to add.

Anonymous said...

Painfully boring, painfully slow, painfully ugly is not painful.

Anonymous said...

But Ted didn't say any of those things. He said painfully unnatural positions of the body.

Anonymous said...

The thing is, to me, he's getting inspiration from slash, so that calls into question the validity of any of his Toothy BVs.

Anonymous said...

Bullshit. Ted didn't describe sex. BTW, BV is about hetero sex.

Anonymous said...

So anything goes if it's hetero? What was he describing then? Wake up. You need to learn how to read. The possibility does exist that it was literally painful, and he said flat out it was not enjoyable for the woman, and that she was "made" to do certain things.

Anonymous said...

painfully
adverb - distressingly, clearly, sadly, unfortunately, markedly, excessively, alarmingly, woefully, dreadfully, deplorably

Anonymous said...

You don't want to include this definition?

painfully
adjective 1. affected with, causing, or characterized by pain: a painful wound; a painful night.

Even as an adverb, it implies discomfort and something unpleasant at best, as in distressingly, by your own post.

The point is, I think these last two BVs of Ted's may be spiced up a little, or made up entirely.

Anonymous said...

The possibility does exist that it was literally painful, and he said flat out it was not enjoyable for the woman, and that she was "made" to do certain things.

So what? You never had bad sex?

No, never. lol

Anonymous said...

The point is, I think these last two BVs of Ted's may be spiced up a little, or made up entirely.

What about Jake doing coke and having gay sex with Hollywood bigwigs? That was bland?

Anonymous said...

Some of you seem to really get turned on by the thought of Jake abusing some woman, it seems.
How sad, sick and twisted is that.

Anything goes, except Jake having sex with some female which could be enjoyable. Well if she did not enjoy it, maybe he did. At least it seems he got his fun out of it.

Anonymous said...

If the source had said, Toothy ain't that great in bed, Ted would have worded the BV a different way. Also, if she had enjoyed herself, but he said she didn't. Even if Ted didn't use the word painful, unnatural positions still suggests something that might have been painful. Of course, maybe Toothy is well-versed in the Kama Sutra. lol

Anonymous said...

Nobody is getting turned on by the possibility of abuse that I can see, I was just posting my impressions of the BV, because I didn't like the sounds of it and found it the BV a little alarming that some of you are so blase about it. I can't speak for anything else.

I see this thread has predictably brought out the usual "Jake is gay" crap. The bottom line is that Jake is straight. He loves Reese. She is not a beard. They make a gorgeous couple and are obviously mad about each other. There is NO evidence to the contrary. Playing gay does not mean one is gay. Those of you who believe that have some serious mental deficiencies. He likes pussy. The sight of a hard cock probably turns his stomach. He and Heath probably exchanged some off-color "fag" jokes while filming BBM, as straight men are prone to doing. Sure there are stars hiding in plain sight. Cruise and Revolta come first to mind. Unfortunately, Jake is not one of them. I beg of you, for your own good, please move on.

I love how they pretend that they know what turns Jake.

Anonymous said...

8:39, no, that is one that people also found questionable. The point is who knows if they are true. I don't doubt that he's experimented with things and that these BVs are possible, but it just sounds questionable to me. I don't have to like, or accept, any of them.

Anonymous said...

I said it's rather outrageous for someone who appears as nice as Jake, and who doesn't appear to be a cruel person.

^^ The man had rough and wild sex, people do including Jake apparently, if it's real. Get over it.

They did coke and she peformed oral and anal sex for him that he probably paid for. It happens! Get over it. If you think these Hollywood stars PR machines images are actully who these people really are, you need to take the blinders off. And I bet you think Sarah Jessica Parker can't be a shrewd bitch in her agents office or in the bedroom.

Anonymous said...

anal sex?? (clutch the pearls) Nooo Not Jakey

But these are not painfully unnatural acts. Ted didn't say rough and wild, he said "interesting" "painfully unnatural" and "not exactly enjoyable".

Anonymous said...

And I bet you think Sarah Jessica Parker can't be a shrewd bitch in her agents office or in the bedroom.

^^ and then go out and smile for America on the Today Show....

Anonymous said...

9:03, don't claim to know me. I actually don't like a wholesome image either - but Ted's latest just didn't sound like much fun for the woman or TT, especially when you left out the part about TT trying to prove he's straight with her.

Anonymous said...

The sight of a hard cock probably turns his stomach.

That's terrible! No porn for Jakey? Masturbating in the dark? LOL

Anonymous said...

9:03 I'm one of those posters who thinks Jake having sex with a woman is NOT NEW for him. I think Jake likes both sexes, don't actually know which he likes best but if I had to choose it would be men. I happen to think Jake has tried drugs (different ones). Teen years and early 20s coupled with smoking (usually) go hand and hand, and a HW child. But he stopped smoking. Now if you believe Ted's info about Jake liking having sex in wierd ways and places, this ususally goes hand and hand imo. And, First, We don't even know if What Ted is saying is true. So there should really be no rush to judge him on being abusive to women yet. IMO

Anonymous said...

A little more Tedspeak, left out of some of the above quotes from the BV:

See, the more chicks he hooks, the farther back in the closet he goes; just how his handlers want it.

As disturbing as this news is, we must say we feel a bit sorry for our beloved Tooth (not to mention the used honey). This all took place, we're told, before Tile hooked up with his current beard, right when he was adamantly told not to come out, so it's no wonder he turned to drugs.

Doesn't sound like a whole lotta fun to me. Kinda puts the whole thing in a new light, don't it.

Anonymous said...

Liking to having sex out in the open isn't painful and not, arguably, unnatural or a weird place.

Anonymous said...

* 47 TV interviews.

This should be standard response ("bedbug letter") to those who keep going on about whether Jake is bi- or straight.

9:29, I think Jake tried drugs before thinking about trying to come out. being told adamantly not to come out is the bad and sad thing here. Even if he was thinking about it but would not do it, is his choice. No one elses. So this is the painful situation in my opinion. Most of the other parts of the post are what most young 20 to 30 something guys go thru if they are not married. Either gay or straight or bi. Just hoping with all that crazy bullshit no one gets hurt, or goes to jail. Especially don't hurt the women they fool around with. And some WOMEN do the same thing at times, but not as often.

Anonymous said...

It's sad & creepy....

Anonymous said...

She "bitched" about it, which implies she complained. And getting down to "business" also implies she was a professional. Ted is a great wordsmith; writer's choose certain ones for a reason. But we don't know if it is true, or embellished a bit.

Anonymous said...

Maybe so, Anon. 10:20. I hope so. The implication is that Toothy was angry because of the restrictions he is under by his handlers, and may have taken it out a little on the woman. Actually, I don't believe this one entirely.

Anonymous said...

When was this TT blind item about the woman supposed to have taken place? Years ago, right? Why has Ted sat on it so long? Is he only hearing about it now? And if so, why now? Why is this woman bitching about something that happened a couple of years ago? And is she bitching directly to Ted? For what purpose?

If this woman is making noise about something that happened a couple of years ago seems like she wants people to know. Why would she tell Ted and why would he put this in as TT blind item? Wouldn't she stand to make some money off the deal if she sold her story to one of trashy UK tabs? Because otherwise why talk about it at all.

Anonymous said...

If Jake was told adamantly not to come out, that would have been after BBM crashed at the Academy Awards. At the time he would have been with Austin 3 years. So what does he do? have weird sex with some woman to prove he's straight?!? What the heck is it with these HW types? Must be something in the water!

And a year or so later he starts bearding with the Chin. Oh man, is he a dim bulb or what?

Anonymous said...

More Tedspeak:

. . . this week it's far, far, far worse: pretend, horrible sex with a member of the opposite sex, in hopes that your studly reputation will somehow be fixed.

Just not a very fun 'n' games sounding BV. "Repeat offender" sounds a bit on the metaphorical criminal side, and there's a fine line between S&M and criminal behavior, meaning where one party draws the line. Banging is always been a kind of a rough word for sex. So this wasn't the most pleasant sounding of BVs.

Reese Witherspoon to Jake Gyllenhaal: Happy Birthday!

Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal share a romantic dinner to celebrate Jake’s 28th birthday on Friday (Demceber 19) at Italian restaruant Il Ristorante di Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica, Calif. The couple enjoyed wine, champagne and a special birthday dessert treat.

Jake will next be seen in Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, out in 2010. He’ll play Dastan, a young prince in sixth century Persia who must join forces with Tamina (Gemma Arterton), a feisty and exotic princess, to prevent a villainous nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.

They look lovely.

Candlelight glow, sorry. But she isn't kissing him, or he isn't kissing her, unless I missed something. The wine glasses are nice too - but are Reeke real? She's smirking at the paps which looks to me like teasing. At least that's my impression.

Nice performance for the paparazzi pictures.

Set up. As usual. They could at least use a different agency to make it look less bought and paid for.

Jake cut his hair, so PoP is done.

So much for Liz Smith's insider info. lol

He has a wonderful laugh - the first five pics are beautiful, I have to say. Even if they are set up! ;)

Happy belated birthday wishes, Jake. All the best to you.

Not if it's true.

She would need a sex tape to prove it.

No she wouldn't. Have you ever read any of the sexcapades stories in say, News of the World? I hear they pay big money for sex-with-celebs stories. This girl blabbed to the wrong person.

She was the one who pretended more from the very start of reeking, sometimes she really looked pathetic.
