That's a good point. The difference is everyone knows Brad Pitt is straight, so he isn't worried that supporting gay rights will create questions about his sexuality. Jake is not in that kind of stable place in regard to either his sexuality or public image.

I disagree strongly. BBMt has made an enormous impact worldwide. Opened the door for "Milk" - that would have scared the bejesus out of people with BBMt. Prop 8 has brought the need for more activism out into the open, and also brought out the activists.

You can't fake sexual intimacy forever, and from all indications, Reeke has stopped trying to look truly authentic, natural and appropriately private. Now, it's just a staged show for the cameras. behind the scenes, I don't think that *anything* is going on.
Faked sexual intimacy is a special task reserved for bearding, and the new Will and Grace are walking down that checklist like pros.

Looking through the birthdy dinner photos, I believe Jake and Reese are at least friends. They seem to like each other.
Honestly, she could be his sister in those shots. No passion whatsoever, no chemistry--there is a comfort level there you find with a close friend but nothing there indicating a genuine passion that lovers have. She looks bored and he looks like he'd rather sleep for 20 years (he must have been seriously jet-lagged). He also doesn't look well. The man should go to a spa for a month to relax. I have a creepy feeling that very few people were there. Given how small the gathering probably was, it made sense for them to be in the window. If they were further in, the passing paps would start noticing that something was wrong. These two big stars and such a small party?
Not only did the party show that almost nothing of any great significance is really going on between them in private, but it also appeared to be just an excuse for a staged photo-op to distract us from Ryan and Abby rather than a genuine celebration of Jake's life.
Oh well, I guess that it's cheaper than going to Paris, Cabo or Venice again.

I agree with everything you have said in this part except for the no marriage part. I think she might marry him if she feels her career is failing in some respect. The wedding would be talked about for ages, this will give them a lot of publicity.

Dear Reese, as a type A personality with high standards you cannot be happy about the unmotivated and obvious desinterested attitude of your contract partner. You should really aim higher. You cannot be proud to deliver a fine performance while your partner is busy presenting his indifference, is yawning, busy checking his hair, making contact with the paps to make it clear that this is a show and is relieved when you finally head out.

I was looking through some of the old behind the scenes footage of Jake in TDAT, he cannot fake it no matter how many "romantic dinners" they have. and she has to know all about it. I think that pictures are from two different places and Jake wasn't at that lunch.
Jake was there,if you check out the earlier pics on IHJ they show Jake out by himself, X17 has a video of it saying he went to yaga class.
The Jared pics were taken later on, most likely they met up since he was out already, she was probably there with her son already.
That resturaunt is owned by his pal Mario Batali, good way to pimp his friends place plus it makes it look like they don't want her son pic taken together, they have done this before.

That video also shows how far apart they are sitting. When she leans her head on his shoulder for her pretend crying photo op, she has to lean over. I would be sitting closer to my boyfriend and if I was so upset that I cried in a public restaurant, I would move my chair closer so I could lean on him. Some are assholes and some simply follow the instructions from the agency - they're trying to get a reaction from the celebrity and make more interesting pictures/videos.
^^What happens to the pics that are not published? How can you prevent them from being published? If you can control what gets published, why are sometimes pictures made public that compromise the celeb? Why haven't the celebs people prevent them from being pubished in the firt place?

Jake had a good relationship with the paps at one time. Before Reese that is. Glad flynet posted that dinner video. It really shows the no chemistry, no love between the two of them. Like someone already said, its not what you see but what you dont see that tells the tale.
One example, the then husband of princess Stephanie of Monaco was caught cheating by the paparazzi. The photos got published, resulting in divorce. So, why didn't he buy the pictures from the paparazzi agency to avoid trouble with his wife?
Because PR and rags business isn't simple and straightforward.
I'm not claiming to know the rules but I do know that rags need celebrities and celebrities need rags.

I think sometimes celebrities don't even know they are filmed or photographed. I know they chose being famous, but the downside of doing a job you love that makes you rich and famous, is loss of privacy. No wonder some stars a paranoid or let their sex partners sign contracts to keep their mouths shut.

Take Chad Allen out of the equation for starters because he was a TV actor and not a popular, marketable filmstar or TV buff bod.
So, were talking about someone who IS marketable to the masses, say Wentworth Miller. Now then, you're a media agency like TMZ and some pap comes up to you and offers you some pics that show male actor getting visibly jiggy with actor B in a private residential place somewhere.
You buy these pictures off the pap but you don't publish them. Why? Because, if you publish them and therefore OUT the popular closeted star, YOU become the one that is blacklisted within the industry and acting agencies (big powerhouses like CAA and William Morris) cut you out of the equation when it comes to favors, scoops, exclusives, etc. They make sure that you get a reputation as a bad business that outs fellow industry people and they play it so that the public feels so sorry for said actor it turns against you..."WHY did you out him? You're disgusting! There was no need to out him!" etc etc. Then nobody buys your product or reads your site and bit by bit you go out of business, getting a bad reputation around town as an outlet that outs its own and is considered untrustworthy and sleazy. The industry knows the fraus will just turn round and scream "we didn't need to know he was gay!"
And Hollywood is self-generating. Media agencies NEED actors and their agents as much as vice versa. They all try and keep one another sweet while they are popular and on the rise. Everything hinges on cohesion. Nobody wants to be the one with the reputation for outing someone because it can badly backfire and you can end up out of a job or with people not trusting you, as explained. There is a LOT of trust in Hollywood and it's a fine line between breaking that trust and overstepping the mark for money, etc.

Clay Aiken Reflects on a Year of Coming Out, Being a New Dad
It's been a year of major developments for Clay Aiken.
In late September the American Idol favorite acknowledged in a PEOPLE cover story that he's gay – an announcement that followed the Aug. 8 birth of his first child, Parker, with his best friend, music producer Jaymes Foster, 50.
While Aiken's coming out generated significant interest on Internet blogs, it's the singer's status as a new dad that he says makes 2008 the most memorable. "At the end of the day, Parker is the most important thing of the year, and of my life, without question," Aiken, 30, tells PEOPLE. "Having a son and that type of responsibility is obviously going to be something that I remember forever."
Still, Aiken, is mindful of the widespread support he received after coming out. "We've been very impressed and my heart has been thoroughly warmed to find people very supportive," he says.

And he's also aware he may have inspired other gay men to come out. "I'm very humbled by that. I really don't know what to say about that. You know, I'm NOT a Reese fan at all, meaning I don't like her personality or her image (although I do think she's a good actress--I liked her in "Walk the Line" very much) but based on the recent round of pics at the restaurant this is the first time in her "pairing" with Jake that I've wondered WHY she's in this. She probably could do much better (maybe get an older, very successful man) than this sexually confused, screwed up man-child.
Because Reese can count on Jake being part of the charade as long as that suits her.

Contact with the paps? All I saw was him pointing and her looking and then Jake calls over a staff member to complain i bet then they leave. They are laughing at the staff cursing at the paps in Italian and throwing eggs at them.
It may be an act but no way in hell did he make contact with the paps to let them know it was an act and he was happy it was over, you seem to have cherry picked parts of the video.
Reality is they went their to be seen, pretended to be upset, left and laughed like little kids because the paps got egged and cursed at.

6:40, they haven't been together for YEARS. They're not a longtime married couple. They've been together almost two years (with breaks during that period). This is NOT a case of an old married couple being together for 20 years. If that's how they are now after not being together that long, it doesn't bode well. In fairness, they supposedly only have just passed their first anniversary, and they don't see each other all the time, he's been away for quite awhile. They have been together for almost two years maybe at the most? That phase of a relationship can go on for awhile hopefully, and is prolonnnnnnged when you don't see each other regularly. ;)

Prepping themselves for the ultra-long plane ride back to Los Angeles, Ryan Phillippe and Abbie Cornish were spotted meandering through Sydney International Airport earlier today (December 22). The “Cruel Intentions” stud and his “Stop-Loss” gal looked pretty unenthusiastic to see the paparazzi, doing their best to avoid the prying shutterbugs as they made their way through the terminal.
The trip back to Los Angeles is an unexpected one, as Ryan and Abbie were reportedly supposed to be spending the holidays with the Cornish family in Australia.
