Friends with PR Benefits

September 18, 2008

Dear Ted:
We get it, Jen Garner sucks. Onto more important things... Toothy Tile! Could you please run down the "And it's not..." list for me. After all this time, I am getting hazy on the Un-Toothy Tiles. My guess for T2... Matthew Broderick.
—Jen, Iowa

Dear Too Much Toothy:
Toothy's much sneakier than lame-ass Broderick. As for the list, check out the Internet. I do believe someone out there's been keeping track.

Dear Ted:
Is Toothy Tile Viggo Mortensen? You mentioned Lord of the Rings in one of your responses about a Toothy Tile guess.
—Cheryl

Dear Connection Failed:
Not the Lord of the Homo we're looking for dear, sorry. Think younger, less real-life brawny.

Dear Ted:
Love the new format—Monday mornings not so much, the yellow hurts my eyes. Toothy Tile has to be Matthew McConaughey. He has that "trying too hard" macho vibe. And the baby mama was a pragmatic career move.
—Groutless in Toronto

Dear Macho, Macho Matt:
Matt's more Hickville than Gayville, sorry. But at least he's not Toothy, I'll say that much.

Dear Ted:
Kindly please replace your word of retard to peabrain or D.D. (Delbert Dumbutt) or something that is decidedly less targeted to a group of people who already got the shaft in life; the mentally retarded. I love you, baby! I'm just defensive about the term since my son is high-functioning autistic. Now get a move on with some serious gossip. BTW, is Hillary Clinton Toothy Tile? Thought I'd have some fun today!
—Mckinn

Dear PC:
Noted, but don't go too Tropic Thunder on my ass and take it with a little bit of humor (I get your point, though), just as I am with your BV guess. It's good for the chuckles, but Hil ain't your man.

Dear Ted:
Does Toothy Tile know he's Toothy Tile in your Blind Vices? I've always heard that people in celebrity camps scroll blog sites (just to make sure they're getting talked about, of course). Just wondering if his people have figured out you're talking about him.
—Brg4Eyes

Dear Eavesdrop:
Toothy knows, alright. That's why he loves to do his out-me mamba all across T-town.

Dear Ted:
You mention that Colin Farrell has been in a "family twister" Blind Vice and that Toothy Tile is "less brawny in real life." You also have said that there is a Baby Tile, and Colin has a kid, does he not? Is he Toothy?
—AJ in Columbus

Dear Jigsaw Jumbler:
It sounds good on paper. But in reality, C.F. is as hetero and horny as they come.

Dear Ted:
Are the And It Ain't choices (1) always (2) sometimes or (3) never themselves the subjects of other Blind Vices?
—Barb

Dear Multiple Fess:
There is a golden ding showering you behind Door No. 2, darling!

Dear Ted:
As much as I wish Toothy Tile was in actuality Sarah Palin's husband, I have convinced myself it is Hugh Jackman. Yay or Nay?
—Katy

Dear Wishful Thinking:
Nay. Almost, but not quite.

Toothy Tile is Jennifer Garner. Enjoy your column...can't agree with you on your politics. God bless America and God bless you!

Dear Kinda Kindred:
Glad we can agree to disagree—par-tick on the testy J.G. being Toothy. She wishes she were that interesting!

Dear Ted:
Are Clay Aiken and his baby son Toothy's boyfriend Gray Goose and Baby Tile?
—Jane

Dear Too Obvious:
Toothy's lover isn't coming out anytime soon.

Dear Ted:
Now that Sophia Bush is single and working on One Tree Hill with three of her ex-boyfriends, Chad Michael Murray, James Lafferty and Austin Nichols, do you think she will start dating one of them again? I hope she goes for Austin. I liked them together.
—Paula

Dear Ex Factor:
CMM is out, fer sure. He can maybe hope for some hate sex, but that's it. I think Bush should even the scoreboard and go for Benji Madden. Thoughts?

Dear Ted:
Could you tell us more about Toothy's boyfriend? He is half of the most intriguing and beautiful Hollywood gay closeted couple and the other daddy of Baby Tile. Don't you think he deserves more attention from you?
—April

Dear Man Hunt:
No, but his abs surely do.

September 30, 2008

Dear Ted:
I called in sick today and said I was deficient in my Vitamin T—OK, that was cheesy, but I think I deserve for this question to be printed since I risked my livelihood over it! Have you and Mr. Tile ever done the nasty (prehubby, of course!)? I reread some entries and you two sure seemed a little flirty a couple of years ago. And, who is hotter, Toothy or his BF? Is Mario Lopez his lover?
—Thrasher

Dear Bedroom Boinked:
In order: No. Yes. Neither, I like men, not little beautiful boys who still retain a tad of privileged baby fat. No.

Dear Ted:
Recently you said 1 in 10 people in Hollywood were straight. You must be including behind-the-scenes creative folks, agents, producers, etc. In terms of actors/actresses, what is the percentage that is straight?
—Cupcake in Cincinnati

Dear Left Brain:
One in 25. Make that 100.

Dear Ted:
OK, so Clay is gay. Big whoop...file that reveal under No Merde. Quick question, though…Has Clay ever been a subject of one of your Blind Vices? If yes, which one? And yes, I know he's not Toothy Tile.
—Jen

Dear Aching for Aiken:
Clay is far too dull for our sexy Vice archives.

Dear Ted:
The mags have been pushing the Reese-Jake romance for over a year now, but neither will confirm or deny the rumors. What’s the big secret?
—Mallory, Conn.

Dear Cladestine Couple:
Those two are just friends with benefits. The benefits, of course, meaning publicity.

October 1, 2008

Dear Ted:
I'm wondering if Toothy Tile is Jason Lee?

Dear Det. Closet:
Right look, wrong dude. But there's certainly a common thread here, doll-babe, at least 'tude wise.

October 2, 2008

Dear Ted:
Toothy Tile is Mario Lopez because of his toothy grin, dimples, fab shape, perfect abs, consistent seemingly gal-chasing ways, and hanging out with BFF so often but that easily jealous husband of BFF is never jealous of Mario. That's the biggest giveaway. Right, Ted?
—Markie from Cincinnati

Dear Access Denied:
Toothy isn't C-list, darling.

oh no they didnt

Anonymous said...

I don´t see why the Austi-poos do have to be so bitchy when it comes to Jake and Chris. Maybe because Austi-poo would be a lovely little nobody mo? You should not be so overly concerned that he will vanish from the face of the earth if it´s not Jake he´s with.
I still think it´s much more likely that Chris is Jakes man.
They lived together over long periods.
He took him to important events and showed up with him.
They very obviously share clothes and more.
Chris lived with him in NY and in LA.
Chris gave up his job to be with Jake and now does random things at MV, which gives him lots of time to look after more important things like BT and Jake without even getting noticed.
They hide in plain sight.
They would not be the first couple to have met when they were really young.
Remember we are talking love here not sex (only).
Ted would not dare be specific if it involves a non celebrity.
Ted loves the TT-fans. He will give his most loyal fan group what they want, without you ever being able to call him on it.
And of course you, being flaming Austin fans may think whatever you will.
Just don´t think you could tell me what I have to believe, ´kay.

The bright glassy wideopen eyes, small tight pupils, stone face. That's not drunk. I'm not saying its meth, could be legal amphetamine to keep his appetite/weight down , keep him awake (isn't he a morning person and here its night) and alert for movie shoots. But if its legal he had too much and not by accident. Funny how a family Disney movie could be his undoing with lies bearding and drugs. The Price of Persia.

Don´t you guys think it´s time to ask Ted about Ginelle O´Midget in Toothys life?
What exactly is Gin-girl doing? What does she gain by showing up with him? She will look like a first class fool, having been a beard for Toothy and covering up his life with BT and boyfriend. You may say that she has money enough, but being type A you would expect her to want more and look after her reputation.

Ent Lawyer BI

Another tweener today. This time it is a guy though and one of the biggest of the big tweeners. I really hate that word, but at least it is to the point. Anyway this tweener has always had his sexuality questioned and spending the night in the hotel suite of this ambiguous A list male singer is not going to help quash the rumors.

DL:
Usher is the A list male singer and Zac Efron is the tweener and they were both in Paris last week. This BI has been solved.

Maggie Gyllenhaal says being a mum won't change her choice of roles in movies.

The actress, whose daughter Ramona is two-years-old, has not been afraid to star in films with a darker subject matter, such as Donnie Darko and SherryBaby.
"I've been lucky enough so far only to have to work on things that have interested me," she says. "If Ramona sees them at some point, even if I have my clothes off, or if I'm playing a drug addict, as long as they're about something and they're worth making and they're asking people who see the movie to think in a different way or open their minds or their hearts, then I'll be proud for her to see it. I think it's only if I start making choices based on things that I don't think are honourable, then I'll be ashamed for her to see the movie, but I don't think the subject matter will have to change."

I know for a fact this is the very same annoying-ass hostile individual who's plagued this fandom for years and frequently shows up at DataLounge to bitch at anybody over mentioning the words "gay" and "Jake"/"Austin" in the same paragraph.

How is this? Check out the strange apostrophes in her writing (it might not show up in italics here so you'll need to go back to her post further up at 11:52, the big long post about "Austy-poo". There's a bigger space between the letter and the apostrophe, as if it's being typed in from a Mac or something, not a PC, or a different text set up or browser. You can track this individual easily on DataLounge too when it's having a meltdown (which is often) because the text settings are really easy to identify against everybody elses (who all look alike as they do on here).

Basically, believe nothing this person says, and treat it like you would a moldy sandwich. Punch and delte, as they say on DL, punch and delete.

Well, 2:05, I never believed Jake was some naive ultra-cleanie. I have always assumed that like most of young Hollywood he's experimented.

I think he does indulge, and maybe does take things for conditions he may have but I still think he's got a grounded enough background to act as a safety net for going over the edge. And Hollywood is a very fast-paced lifetstyle so I think many of those big stars take things just to keep their eyelids open with the busy schedules.

Would not surprise.

PoP on-set extra reporting Jake texting every chance he gets:

i've been so crazy busy with shooting this film, the hours are so long that when i come home, i'm absolutely shattered.

oh and when i say "busy," i mean "hanging out with jake gyllenhaal" while th crew sets up shots. that's right, i'm that hype.

(you guys are detecting the sarcasm right?)

just to clarify, he texts his girly reese like every two seconds (mostly while the crew is setting up the next shot) and has his mobile hidden in his costume. she even flew down to morocco when they were filming there, so no, i'm not gonna have a secret rendez-vous with him. although the lovely gentleman who plays his brother, tobey kebbell...i mean DAY-UM! he totally knows i fancy him, and his makeup artist told me half-jokingly that i was invited back to his trailer after the day's shoot...i refrained this time, but come monday morning, he's mine, bitch.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia said...

On the Sunny side of the joke

On the surface, FX's straight boy raunchfest It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (FX, Thursdays @ 10pm) might not seem like the kind of show that screams "gay favorite." Three guys and a girl own a bar in Philly. Danny Devito's there too, for some reason. They're all terrible people with no moral compass. It's like Seinfeld, if Jerry and Elaine were to become crack addicts and George and Kramer tried to make money off of dumpster babies.

Which is all well and good, but GLAAD says this is the season of gay TV, so what's in it for us? Does teabagging, gluing pubes to your face, guy-on-guy nipple admiration and the promise of "hard, thrusting, pounding man action" work for you? That was just this season's premiere. Also, one of the characters has an on-again/off-again relationship with a transexual. It's no surprise that Philadelphia's just up the road from Baltimore, as this show owes more than a little debt to John Waters brand of dirty, sleazy fun. We're hoping to see DeVito dress up as Divine.

Be warned, though, if you're offended by jokes about "retarded" people, sex offenders, or people debating whether its racist or not to choose to consume the flesh of a dead white person over a dead black person, this is not the show for you. Everyone else will love it.

Still doubtful? Consider this bit of dialogue from last season:

Dennis: Some gay guys are twinks, and others are bears. This gay guy's a bear. By the way we're totally cool with that. To each his own.
Frank: Wait, I'm a little confused here. What's a twink?
Dennis: A twink is small and slender, like Mac.
Mac: Oh no, I'm too muscular, I would be a bear.
Dennis: Ohh don't think so bro. Not hairy enough.
Frank: Smooth. I would be a bear.
Dennis: No no see I don't think you'd be a bear either. As a matter of fact I don't know what you would be because you're definitely not a twink.
Frank: I'd be a top, that's for sure.
Mac: Can a twink be a top, or is that reserved for bears?
Dennis: I'm sure there's a great deal of switching back and forth, but I think more often than not bears are tops, unless they happen to be power bottoms.
Frank: What's a power bottom?
Mac: A power bottom is a bottom that is capable of receiving an enormous amount of power.

This Star Magazine story is just another pile of horse manure. Once again, we're distracted from the real story : the postponement of Brothers is yet another professional embarassment for JG. Jakey Gyllenhaal had dinner last night at Cipriani and left via the back door, hoping to elude photographers. Not successful.

Jakey’s been in London shooting the Prince of Persia for what seems like ever while Reese has been tied up with her kids in LA. Apparently they Skype whenever they can even though the time difference makes things wonky. It’s also the children he wants to keep in touch with too. Awww….

I’m told she has however managed to sneak in at least once without detection for a few days…

Still…long distance sucks hard. Especially since these two have become very, very serious about each other. Star Magazine says they’re about to break because of it. Coming from Star Magazine, this means you should believe the opposite.

Filming on Prince of Persia is expected to continue well into the fall which is why Jake’s next film Brothers with Tobey Maguire and Natalie Portman has been delayed to next year – possibly summer. Brothers was originally scheduled for a December release, especially since test screenings supposedly prompted Oscar buzz.

But without Jake promoting it, it won’t stand a chance in such a loaded season. As such, they are reportedly taking it to Cannes instead and launching the campaign from there so it looks like Jakey gets an extended break after Christmas when he can rejoin his girl.

Just another 8 weeks, right?

What's with Cuntara's vendetta against the Gyllenhaals? I thought Stephen had left Naomi for her.

Anonymous said...

oh and I might as well tell you while I'm here that the Star story was PR for PoP and Jake. Someone called it when they said that Brothers was pushed (which most members of the ticket buying public are not aware of) but just to ward off any "Jake is over" murmuring the story is focusing on Jake's HUGE new career. The relationship drama and the importance they place on their relationship even though it is so gosh darn hard to do is the hook.
It gets you to read the story and digest the fact that Jake Gyllenhaal is indeed a huge movie star.

Anonymous said...

The timing is wrong for the break up, he would have to get a new beard, too much trouble. No way Disney is going to let jake go around single. This BS story was made up because there is nothing to report, so why not make up a story that they hit a rough patch, big deal what relationship hasn't. it would have been more interesting if they claimed they had a big fight.

Looking for a house in London doesn't sound like a couple on the brink of breaking up.

PR would have gone to People or Us if they wanted tis like they did last year when they broke up 101 times, LOL!!

look for the reconnection photos from london.

Anonymous said...

If the Star if "filler" and unapproved fiction, then the househunting, being part of the same article, is also? I'm waiting with baited breath for the dissconnect photos from London. Oh wait - I bet we already saw that two weeks ago. ;)

Anonymous said...

Sex on the plane was a tip that came into Star from a source on the plane and it was never denied by their PR. I think they planted it to make them look "hot". The other stories are filler. The cohabitation dog/cookies/cute little stories about the kids etc. that's all just regular BS.

Ever notice all the "Kirstin is drunk, miserable and jealous" and "Ryan hates how much his kids love Jake" stories are in OK Mag?

US Weekly prints the big event features like It's Real, It's HOT and It's LOVE as well as the moving in feature.

All the tabs serve a purpose. Favors and money change hands all the time not just Jake and Reese but the whole lot of them.

Anonymous said...

What abrupt change? A Star story that appears on page 12 of Star repeated on blogs??? It ain't over, if there is a contract it will expire after Pop is released, or he gets a new beard, Reese is already broken in.

If anyone is sick of it It would be Reese having to run off to wherever he is, Jake is fucked if she bails now, if so he will be forced to beard with the likes of Greta Caruso

Anonymous said...

I wish the Star would come out with a story about Jake reconnecting with Kirsten, if there must be reconnecting. :)

Anonymous said...

PR would have gone to People or Us if they wanted tis like they did last year when they broke up 101 times

Reeke could go on for a month or 10 months, but there is NO need/reason to announce the possibility of a break up in People or Us.

What could be more romantic than an old flame?

Bullshit.

The STAR sex story is Bs, the dog stories are BS and the drifting apart/reconnect/house hunting stories are BS as well. All not approved by PR because it serves a purpose, even this one. It may look like a about to break up story to you but to me it was a story on how they are struggling with a long distance romance and they have hit a rough patch, the house hunting crap is a recurring theme with jake and Reese and the rags.

They don't go out of ther way to give the Star crap like they do People and Us, but they won't complain if they print BS to help their agenda, even this story because it will plant the seeds for the next photo op.

Remember last year Us had jake and Reese broke up right before the Rome festival, they weren't even speaking to each other, and you know what happened in Rome.

Anonymous said...

Yes, we know that ALL tabloid stories and Reeke are crap.

Anonymous said...

No they didn't that was before Toronto and they weren't speaking to each other. The plan to go to the next level was still being mulled.

You missed the part about the Star story not being about them. It's about what a busy A list movie star Jake is becoming. Pay attention.

Anonymous said...

They only ever had one picture that ever looked somewhat real, and that was in Rome, where he had his arm around her and she had his hand in his back pocket. Only one out of hundreds that ever looked even the slightest bit convincing.

Anonymous said...

^^sorry, her hand. ;)

Anonymous said...

It'snot BULLSHIT. Jake is the one with the gay rumors and the Disney franchise, yes he would be fucked if she decided to end it now, the timing is wrong.

And don't give the BS that she needs him for her image, if youhave noticed he hasn't been looking hot lately, and yes it looks like she is doing him a favor.

And you forget that both Us and People announce that they had broken up on 2 difernt occasions, no they didn't say about to but their PR sure the hell would float that to the Star the rough patch story would have appeared in People and Us and you know it.

Anonymous said...

Reese was really desperate. LOL

Anonymous said...

It'snot BULLSHIT.

It is BS. Reese is the one who pushed the fauxmance in November 2006 because of her image.

Anonymous said...

To me, she looks rather forlorn lately, walking around with her kids, as adorable as they are. Jake always looks hot, but plummets a few degrees when he's with her. Rome was different, maybe because that was the first series of pics we'd ever seen. Now we've seen too many lukewarm ones.

Anonymous said...

That should be Us and People announced their break uplast year and their PR wouldn't float that to Star, but People and Us 9:43: You're right it was about Jake the busy A list star, the drifting apart was an afterthought IMO.

Just anothe BS rag story this time touting his film and how hard it is to be apaet while filming, poor babies!

Anonymous said...

Jake doesn't look hot at all anymore with or without Reese. His glory days are over.

Anonymous said...

9:51 Reese pushed?? I thoght Jake and Reese shared the same PR? Aren't they on the same page?? How the hwll do you go from Ryan to JakeTT? She knew about the rumors, so many other actors/male models/himbos to choose.

No, definately doing him and his family a favor now Disney is involved and now they are now both chained to mouse ears.

Poor jake, forced to beard he must be tired of it, Ha!!

Jake always wants the actresses that are more successfull and more popular than hi and of course they have to be blue-eyed and blonde as well.

If Kiki didn't turn out to be a junkie he would still be with her.

Anonymous said...

And don't give the BS that she needs him for her image, if youhave noticed he hasn't been looking hot lately, and yes it looks like she is doing him a favor.

Double bullshit.

After the fauxmance Jake can "pine" for a while and then go back to "casual dating". It would be great for his (PoP) straight image.

Reese needs family values, someone crazy about her kids and someone BETTER than Ryan.

Anonymous said...

9:58 PM

LOL

Why would actors/male models/himbos want to date her? She would pay them? How would she stop them from dumping her after few weeks or months? How would dating some male model be her "revenge"?

Anonymous said...

Didn't you read Lainey?? He wants to STAY IN TOUCH WITH THE KIDS awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!! Jake is The Greatest Boyfriend a single mother who is just like us could ever be!

Anonymous said...

Why would she even want some himbo? I see her with a successful, slightly older man, maybe outside of the business. If she really is with Jake, they could have easily have found a home somewhere in the UK or Europe during this entire time - other couples have done it. They certainly have the resources. The few weeks he's been working is no reason for a serious relationship to have problems and drift apart. What about couples whose spouse/SO in overseas in the armed forces? Or an Engineer assigned to Belgium for a few years who moves his entire family?

Anonymous said...

They ain't breaking up anytime soon so get over it.

You kep saying it's not working, there is a difference between online stuff and mainstream crap.

From the little I hear from people i know in PR is that Jake and Reese have enough fan support from the fangirls that read those rags and more importantly, the HW crowd some who pushed them to get together.

And as far as Jake "pining" and "casual dating" stuff, ain't happening. According some that's the reason why the gossip bloggers went after him, no way that Jake is long gone. Not only does he want to straightned out his image he wants to be seen as a great stepdad to Ava and Deacon.

He thinks Reese is a wonderful mother, her that image is what he is interested in.

Reese is not getting revenge by dating Jake, she may feel pity, she may be bored she may even enjoys his company but the only image i have seen since she divorced Ryan was single working soccor mom, Avon spokewoman with BF Jake tagging along playing daddy, and she doesn't need the latter for her audience, but jake is trying to build a new audience and yes it's the mini van crowd.

Fanboys son' care if he is dating, single or married.

Anonymous said...

Reese is not getting revenge by dating Jake

Yes, she is, and there is about 157 tabloid articles to prove it.

Anonymous said...

Well, I wish they would just come out with it, it's getting tiresome. Some fans won't really care that much what's going on in their personal life, so it does look like some sort of coverup that they keep such secrecy. People would quit wondering and move on.

Anonymous said...

10:20: You are actually taking a BS Star story seriously.

That aside, of course they could find a place in London for the entire shoot of the film there but you are forgetting two things: Ava and Deacon. Unless Ryan agreed to have the kids move to London fom June to December and go to school there, then no. He has joint custody. If Ryan suddenly gave up joint custody of the kids then how much you want to make a bet she wouldn't pull the kids out of Brentwood.

There was a rumor back when Ryan and Reese broke up that she wanted to move with the kids to TN or SC but Ryan said no way.

Anonymous said...

^^The kids would have probably been better off in TN or SC.

Anonymous said...

...and she doesn't need the latter for her audience

Yes, she does, very much so. Reese is "a great mother" and can date only men who "adore her kids". That's the image for her romcom and Avon audience.

Anonymous said...

Reese is a major PR whore, there is no way she wanted to move to TN or SC.

Anonymous said...

I don't even really mind all this; it's the gameplaying and showmance, if it is one, that's annoying. If they announce an engagment or marriage, that's the line I've drawn to drop it.

Gameplaying is great for PR! Remember all that fun during Toronto and Rome Rendition promotion?

From the poster at DC who met Jake on the PoP set:

Re: Let's Get Serious About Heath
Posted by Royandronnie, October 01, 2008, 07:04:20 PM

don't know where is the best place for this, but all serious Heathens should know, from Jake, that not only was it Heath's idea to switch the shirts in the final scene, but also his idea that the young Ennis' shirtsleeves should be too short.

Wasn't he something?

These tidbits also:

* "Heath wanted to have a paternal relationship with his directors…he didn't get that with Ang…" Jake agreed with the accounts that said this was deliberate, that Ang kind of refused to help Heath along to add to the frustration in his performance. "He was very loyal to his directors, even when the movies weren't very good." "Like The Brothers Grimm," I agreed. Jake didn't disagree, replying that Heath "loved" Terry Gilliam.

* I don't hear all that well, and since Jake seemed kind of soft spoken in the interviews I had seen, I worried a little about understanding what he said. I never actually had any problem--but I sure did notice that the his voice did drop noticeably when he spoke of Heath.

* I told him I had some of Heath's Brokeback costume. He smiled widely when I told him I had the "You bet" postcard shirt--and the smile wiped right off his face when I looked him in the eye and added "and the Reunion shirt." He actually drew back a little.

Oh, to have been able to read his mind in that moment…

Say what you will about Brangelina, one thing I respect them for is that they operate as a family unit. If Angie has to appear in NY, the whole family picks up and goes to NY. If Brad is filming in New Orleans, the whole family moved to NO for a bit and now guess it's on to germany. They have both seen what seperation does to relationships and have learned from it. Not suggesting this for Reeke, mind you, as that relationship is fake. Just bringing up the noticable difference. I know he and Austin cant do it until they come out.

Reeses fanbase did not and most probably still does not dig Jake. They expected her to go on to some exec, some politician or, at least, someone with a reputation like Liev Schreiber.
Jake is perceived as being gay nearly everywhere, not only on the net but also in some rags. "the gay" is predominant and rightly so, by everyone except the fangirls. Reese is not naive, she must have known that she would only and ever be the beard.
I would love to know what they promised her to make this sad joke happen. And don´t tell me she really had some gain in being linked with the synonym of gay. It cannot be easy to live a charade, when everyone in HW knows about it and somehow pities you. When every rumor is counterattacked with calling it what it is.
Did they offer her some influence, some roles, or producer benefits?
I´d love to know what they offered her, because as much as she seems to love to motherhen people she likes, I doubt that she does this just for some photos and rather cheesy and obviously wrong rumors, because that´s still what it is according to their PR.

ACLU guest on PoP set has "realized" that Jake not "being there" had to do with Paul Newman's death.

Sorry to say this but Im in a grumpy mood this morning: d'you think Jake knew his fifty year old guest has been writing dirty captions to pix of him for a couple of years?

Reese lived a charade of a marriage with Ryan and everyone in HW knew. Her public image and prestige (Oscar) is more important to her.

Reese isn't doing any favors to Jake, it's a mutually beneficial business arrangement. She started fauxmance rumors 2 weeks after the divorce was announced - she was so desperate for "Reese is better off without Ryan" PR.

No, I don't think Jake spends a lot of time on the DC Forum, but it's his loss - those captions are great!

Expecting Prince of Persia

Will Disney and Bruckheimer’s next project “Prince of Persia” grow to be another solid hit after their biggest hits trilogy “Pirates of the Caribbean”? For sure, they were hoping this will be the next big franchise that follows in the footsteps of Jack Sparrow. MTV recently have a chance to meet with the creator of the video game and screenwriter on the film, Jordan Mechner, and talked with him about the progression of the project so far. The movie is actually on production in Morocco and Mechner claims that the Arabian night adventure will be epic. "The scope of this is going to be massive. It's really spectacular." And that's not all. They really expect that this will "do for Arabian Nights movies what Pirates did for pirate movies."

Mechner also explains that the “Prince of Persia” movie was pitched to Disney and Bruckheimer "as an old-fashioned swashbuckling action-adventure in a tradition going all the way back to the Doug Fairbanks movies. The modern equivalent being “Pirates of the Caribbean,” an example of an old movie made new again, doing a fresh take on it for a modern audience." As for what we can expect? "Tonally, I'd say it's basically “Pirates of the Caribbean” with maybe a half-step towards “Gladiator.”

In addition, he also said “there'll certainly be a lot of stunts, a lot of special effects. I mean it's Jerry Bruckheimer!" If there is one producer out there who could show the world what video game movies should be like, it's The Bruck. And like the Pirates of the Caribbean films, Mechner explains that the story is essentially grounded in the real world with some fantasy elements. "If you take the first Sands of Time game, that was set in basically the real world, but with this mystical element that intrudes into it. It feels like it's grounded in a very real world with historical roots, but then its got this fantasy element as well. It's not completely over the top." That balance is key for turning this into a successful franchise.

Everything about this film is getting more and more interesting, right? Mechner, who had a hand in putting together the story, also claims that the movie has packed with lot of action, so there'll be swords and horses and all the things that wouldn't be “Prince of Persia” without. But because it's a movie, it's about the characters and character relationships. “There's no fighting for fighting's sake." However, because the action in the game is such an important part of it, Mechner adds that "fighting's a part of the story but it's not a movie about swordfighting." Based on what Mechner's saying, this should easily be one of the best big budget projects coming up in the next few years. And now I’m really can’t wait any longer to watch the film, why they have to release it on 2010??

I have a positive feeling that this project will become the biggest, better and the most popular game adaptation movie ever made. Bruckheimer usually does a great job with his production and if this is indeed supposed to be the next “Pirates of the Caribbean,” for both of him and Disney, I don't expect him to let this one become a failure.

Ledger, who lived for only the first 22 days of the year, has been given a nod in the best actor category for his freakish portrayal of the Joker in The Dark Knight.

Other celebrities who were named as influential Australians in the annual poll for the men's magazine include singer Sam Sparro, for the breakthrough artist award, and Daniel MacPherson for the man of style crown. Country music star Lee Kernaghan will find it tough to beat cricketer Glenn McGrath for the man of inspiration award. McGrath has been a pillar of strength in the wake of the death of his wife, Jane, this year.

The winners will be announced on November 18.

Based on those commentaries on POP, it seems like the Disney approved ones are trying to make POP sound Lawrence of Arabia on steriods and the real person commentaries are already smelling BOMB. I'm leaning towards box office bomb, but DVD good seller for kids. For people who are Jake fans or even mainstream rag mag readers, the usually handsome Jake looks horrible with the long hair and cartoon muscles. Hopefully, when he's done filming POP, he can finally take a shower, wash and cut his hair and wear clean clothes.

Long hair is a must for the character but they made a mistake with the steroids. Less muscles and Jake's normal face would make a far better looking Prince.

Prince of Persia Creator Talks Up Expectations for 2010

Not excited for the big screen version of Prince of Persia yet? You should be! Disney is hoping this will be the next big franchise that follows in the footsteps of Pirates of the Caribbean. And with Jerry Bruckheimer producing and Mike Newell directing, it definitely could be. MTV caught up with the creator of the video game and screenwriter on the film, Jordan Mechner, and talked with him at length about what we can expect. The movie is currently shooting in Morocco and Mechner insists it'll be epic. "The scope of this is going to be massive. It's really spectacular." And that's not all. They really expect that this will "do for Arabian Nights movies what Pirates did for pirate movies." I certainly hope hope that's true.

As skeptical as most people seem to be at the moment, it's this kind of early behind-the-scenes buzz that makes me excited. I'm a big fan of the game and I'm always looking out for any mention of the movie. This time we've got some of the best quotes yet. Mechner (seen to the right) explains that the Prince of Persia movie was pitched to Disney and Bruckheimer "as an old-fashioned swashbuckling action-adventure in a tradition going all the way back to the Doug Fairbanks movies. The modern equivalent being Pirates of the Caribbean, an example of an old movie made new again, doing a fresh take on it for a modern audience." As for what we can expect? "Tonally, I'd say it's basically Pirates of the Caribbean with maybe a half-step towards Gladiator."

Of course, Mechner says "there'll certainly be a lot of stunts, a lot of special effects.

This all sounds great so far, right? If you're concerned about the story being too contrived, Mechner, who had a hand in putting together the story, claims otherwise. "Well the movie's packed with action, so there'll be swords and horses and all the things that wouldn't be Prince of Persia without. But because it's a movie, it's about the characters and character relationships. There's no fighting for fighting's sake." However, because the action in the game is such an important part of it, Mechner adds that "fighting's a part of the story but it's not a movie about swordfighting." Based on what Mechner's saying, this should easily be one of the best big budget projects coming up in the next few years.

What I'm trying to say is that there's no reason to be concerned with this production. We all know video game movies have a bad rap, but hopefully that will change with Prince of Persia. And the more I hear, the more confident I become. Bruckheimer usually does a great job and if this is indeed supposed to be the next Pirates of the Caribbean, I don't expect him to let this one become a failure. Everything about it sounds like it has the potential to be incredibly entertaining and I think that's what is going to count the most with this movie. Mechner is only the most recent one involved in this to speak highly of the project and I suspect that he's dead on with his expectations. Only time will tell, I suppose.

Paul Newman: Forever young

By BILL EGGERT
For The Tribune-Democrat

...
Despite playing such Western icons as Butch Cassidy, Judge Roy Bean, Billy the Kid and Buffalo Bill, Newman was equally remembered for such cinematic roles as real-life boxer Rocky Graziano (“Somebody Up There Likes Me”), “Fast Eddie” Felson (“The Hustler” and “The Color Of Money”) and Luke (“Cool Hand Luke”).

I appreciated him all the more when, decades after “Slap Shot” was made, I worked on a film with Reese Witherspoon. She was neither nice nor gracious, although her co-star, Patrick Dempsey, was as friendly as Newman.

In an age when many celebrities let fame and fortune go to their heads, it’s reassuring to remember that there are big stars like Paul Newman who never let the bright lights of Hollywood affect their egos.

The general public never heard of Donnie Darko but they've all heard of BBM even if they don't know who Jake is. DD is a cult film with a very limited audience. To refer to Jake's role in Donnie Darko instead of his role in BBM is an outright avoidance of mentioning anything gay in IMO. It reminds me of when there was a media frenzy surrounding Jake and Heath because of BBM and I'd read an article that referred to Jake as the star of Jarhead instead of mentioning BBM. It's pure homophobia.

The other thing I wonder about is how much do gamers really care about a game being made into a film. The poor box office for most games that are made into movies make me think that the gamers just aren't interested in a static film. Games are interactive. Movies aren't.

By the time PoP comes out in 2010 the special effects they are filming now may be passe.

I think PoP, if done well, will get ok reviews and have decent B.O. Jake's name could become a household name. Let's wait and see.

David Belle to choreograph the parkour!

If David's IMDB page is to be believed, he's going to choreograph the parkour in the film [PoP]. How awesome is that?! Now I can't wait to see it!

Would this blog exist if Jake was quietly living with Austin and raising their child? He neither denied and confirmed he was gay. Would that have been enough.

If you look at Bruckheimers imdb profile, he has as many flops as he does winners.

Two flops:
Deja Vu (2006) with Denzel Washington
King Arthur (2004) with Clive Owen

Please define "quietly living"? Jodie Foster "quietly living"?

"The general public never heard of Donnie Darko but they've all heard of BBM even if they don't know who Jake is. "

Maybe but i still think he is far better in DD and Jarhead.

Gamers haven't played PoP since it was popular ages ago. They are not buzzing about this movie. The fact that it is based on a game won't get them to go to see it. Disney will be marketing it to the audience who fangirled at Depp in PotC. Why do you think they cast Jake? He's the sexually ambiguous younger version of Depp or at least that is what the pollsters tell the powers that be at Disney.

Well, he did (clumsily) deny it.

Prince of Persia is like Pirates and Gladiator… FTW?!

As a movie buff, I’m often not impressed when film makers use other movies to describe their own. To me it beats the purpose of offering something new when you say it’s like this and that. But that’s me..

I also happen to be a Prince of Persia player from back when computers were so pixelated you couldn’t tell the prince of Persia from the Aladdin genie. So even if screenwriter Jordon Mechner told MTV that the movie is a lot like Pirates of the Caribbean and the Gladiator, I think in this age, you’ll be able to tell the difference.

“Prince of Persia” isn’t just going to be like “Pirates” in terms of scope and tone, the newest Disney/Bruckheimer tag-team is actually going to “do for Arabian Nights movies what ‘Pirates’ did for pirate movies,”

I’d say it’s basically ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ with maybe a half-step towards ‘Gladiator.’”

“There’ll certainly be a lot of stunts, a lot of special effects. I mean it’s Jerry Bruckheimer!” Mechner insisted. “They’re shooting in the deserts of Morocco. The scope of this is going to be massive. It’s really spectacular.”

“Well the movie’s packed with action, so there’ll be swords and horses and all the things that wouldn’t be ‘Prince of Persia’ without. But because it’s a movie, it’s about the characters and character relationships. There’s no fighting for fighting’s sake. In a game, you have a lot of fighting because you’re doing it and it’s fun,” he said. “But in a movie, fighting’s a part of the story but it’s not a movie about swordfighting.”

From that description, I think I got more of The Mummy Returns vibe which is not good at all. However it is a Jerry Bruckheimer movie and that’s quite enough credibility. The Prince of Persia movie stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton, Sir Ben Kingsley and Alfred Molina. It is set for release May 2010.

Anne Hathaway: Grace Under Pressure

While watching SNL last night, I was struck by how graceful Anne Hathaway was in joking about her troubled relationship with her criminal ex-boyfriend, Raffaello Follieri. Hathaway has undoubtedly been under a lot of pressure from the press lately, with questions about her involvement with Captain McShady popping up every time she tries to give an interview to promote her supposedly Oscar-worthy performance in Rachel Getting Married. In playing along as the gullible sweetheart with a heart of gold during her SNL monologue, Hathaway displayed the kind of charm, self-awareness, and sense of humor that will surely help her through what is most likely an incredibly strange and difficult time her life, and I salute her for it. Sometimes being able to laugh at the things that hurt the most is the only way to get through it. How do you all deal with a tough breakup? Is laughter really the best medicine?

What's your real question? (We don't expect Jake to come out before 2029.)

I told him I had some of Heath's Brokeback costume. He smiled widely when I told him I had the "You bet" postcard shirt--and the smile wiped right off his face when I looked him in the eye and added "and the Reunion shirt." He actually drew back a little.

Oh, to have been able to read his mind in that moment…

If I was in her place this would be enough to make the trip worthwhile.

Anne Hathaway's Pain; New Movie's Gain

Anne Hathaway didn't hide from personal troubles. Her new film didn't hide from audiences.

Hathaway's Rachel Getting Married stood out in a limited-release debut, grossing $275,000 at only nine theaters, Exhibitor Relations estimates said today. No weekend film made more money per screen—a whopping $30,556—than the indie-minded family drama.

Overall, Beverly Hills Chihuahua ($29 million) topped the box office, while Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist ($12 million) scored with young women.

Rachel Getting Married seemed to benefit from strong reviews and Oscar buzz for Hathaway, who stars as a choppy-haired, chain-smoking rehab graduate (and, note, not the titular bride). The movie also likely got a boost from an all-out promotional tour that saw Hathaway not only make stops on David Letterman, Good Morning America and Saturday Night Live, but talk openly about how she spent her summer. Her tabloid-tainted summer.

"I broke up with my Italian boyfriend [Raffaello Follieri] and two weeks later he was sent to prison for fraud. I mean, we've all been there, am I right, ladies?" Hathaway joked on last night's SNL. Well, at least the experience was worth a good gag, if not a killer opening weekend.

5:15 would you have said that when Johnny Depp was 27? He had just made Edward Sissorhands at that time but was best known for 21 Jump Street.

Would you come out if you were 27 and making a ton of money? Every young actor wants to be Brad Pitt or George Clooney. Hollywood is fickle he could be washed up in five years. Let him enjoy this moment.

Anne Hathaway sure has B.O. appeal. A little scandal on the side proves as helpful sometimes. That's the world we live in.

He got all the opportunities he has now mosty thanks to BBM not DD. But BBM is Ledger's baby anyway. Jake can have DD.

Here we go again.... Jake won an Award for his portrayal of Jack in BBM. And he was up against the same big Time A-list actors that were nominated at the Oscars. Heath also. Jake WON!!! Period!!
And, he deserved it. Not saying that Heath, Clooney, Phillip did not deserve it, but Jake DID ALSO. And, he was the youngest of all of them (best Male and Supporting Male Actor) Now if you or anyone else wants to continue to belittle this fact and accomplishment of Jake's, so be it... Your choice, but he did (WIN) FOR HIS PERFORMANCE IN BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN!!

Samantha Ronson Pays $86K to Perez

Samantha Ronson can scratch this lawsuit off her setlist.

On Friday, gossip blogger Perez Hilton received a big, fat check from Lindsay Lohan's gal pal for nearly $87,000 to cover his legal fees from a failed libel lawsuit.

In July 2007, the celebrity DJ sued Perez (aka Mario Lavandeira) for defamation after he reported that she owned the cocaine found in Lilo's car after a May 2007 crash. A judge threw out the case in January 2008 and ruled that Ronson had to pay for Hilton's legal fees, which she hadn't up until now.

Thwarted Souls’ Broken Wings

Silence is never empty in Ian Rickson’s magnificent production of “The Seagull,” which opened Thursday night at the Walter Kerr Theater. When a hush descends on Chekhov’s restless country estate dwellers — as it often does, abrupt and unbidden — the air remains alive with crosscurrents of thought, clashing chords of longing and the steady thrum of time passing. Brought to life by a superlative ensemble led by Kristin Scott Thomas, the thwarted souls of “The Seagull” are as self-revealing in frozen speechlessness as they are in frantic flights of conversation.
...
With sly brilliance Mr. Sarsgaard presents Trigorin as an awkward, reticent man transformed by a worshipful public into a closely watched dandy. Power has, in a sense, been thrust upon him, and he exercises it with a passivity that is equal parts purring smugness and self-contempt.

Accent confusion leads Eamonn Holmes to accidentally out Salma Hayek as a lesbian

Sky News anchor Eamonn Holmes has accidentally outed Hollywood star Salma Hayek as lesbian. Interviewing her for This Morning, which he hosts once a week, he was struggling to understand her accent, when he inquired at her surname: " 'Hayek doesn't sound very Mexican." She responded by saying that she was half Lebanese.

"You're a lesbian?" he responded, thinking she was coming out.

"No – Leb-an-ese", she said slowly, spelling it out for him.

"'Oh sorry, i thought you were half lesbian. Forgive me."

In 2007, Penelope Cruz laughed off the idea of a lesbian affair with Hayek, who the same year was named by The Hollywood Reporter as the fourth most powerful Latino actors. She has also been named Hollywood's "sexiest celebrity" in a major poll.

Penelope Cruz and Salma Hayek Lesbian Rumours Update and Video

Penelope Cruz was on the Late Show With David Letterman earlier this past week to promote her new movie Volver. The topic of her and Salma Hayek’s rumoured lesbian affair came up when Dave showed the picture that started the rumour in the first place. The picture, by the way, is of Penelope grabbing Salma’s booty at the Bandidas premiere.

Penelope had is to say to Dave: “We did that in front of 100 photographers and the story now is that apparently we are lovers. I’m sorry to say, that is not the case!”

There you have it everyone, it’s just a rumour.

Johnny Depp created a great character for PoTC. Jake has always relied on his looks and doe-eyed earnestness for his roles. That's not going to work for him anymore. He's too old and his looks have changed too much for him to pull it off.
