You've got several OMG'ers (we're looking at you, PG) who make personal attacks on those who disagree with them on a regular basis, troll or not, anonymous posters. I have a feeling that the reason the troll pounces on those who believe Jake is married to Austin Nichols and has children is that they just can't stand the idea of Jake being a family man and hiding everything from the public. Personally, I think it would be great if Jake is a family man. It would be great if he isn't, as well. It's his life. I would have to respectfully disagree 3:02. I don't think it's virtually impossible to hide your children at all. I don't like the idea of him doing this, but it can be done. I think Jake can still be a freedom loving man and married. People who are in committed relationships do it all the time. Of course, it wouldn't bother me if Jake was still available either. I just don't think he is.
More than anything, I hate the bearding and the shipping of heterosexuality as the only legitimate way to live. That's when Jake really makes me angry.
It's impossible to hide a child. Can the children be hidden from the general public? Probably. But some seem to believe they are virtual prisoners or something. We may not know what's going on, but those children, if they exist, are not being hidden.
You give up traditional "freedom" when you marry and have children. Their needs take precedence. You can't have it both ways. Most are willing to do that for their familes and committed relationship, but anyone will tell you it means compromise. As a single person, you don't have the security of a family and committed relationship, so there are always plusses and minuses to every situation.
Ted has no reason to refer to Austin Nichols as hubby or to indicate that it's been a nearly a decade (which would be when Jake met Austin on the set of TDAT), if it weren't true. I believe Ted still writes about them being together because they are. If Toothy had broken up with his longtime partner, people would still follow the saga and it certainly wouldn't reflect on Ted. He has no control of whether Toothy stays with Goose or not. And, as some people have hinted here, Toothy might even be sexier, if Ted would write about him being a bachelor. Jake going into 5th gear in the back of a car, is far more interesting than him raising a family.
Actually, reading about boring sexual escapades isn't that interesting, more of the same tabloid stuff. TT being married and possibly with kids is a refreshing change. But the logistics of it are impossible. Again, trying to read others' minds and fill in the blanks. Get a life of your own, instead of writing not only fic for Jake's life, but for anonymous posters like a busybody.

There's nothing to understand. It's too far out fantasy, all that. There's no proof of what you are saying, that they couldn't be seen in public, or if the kid would out him as being gay. Or if he's afraid of being outed. I'd sooner believe that Jake has no kids than to think he's hiding not one, not two, but possibly three or more, away. It's outrageous.

Most families are created from love, and a gay family is no different. If a gay couple decides to have children, it goes without saying that they must hold their relationship in high esteem and are proud of it, if they make the deliberate decision to add to that by having a family together. Just common sense.
For straight couples, sometimes kids come along accidentally or maybe one partner isn't ready. Gay couples choose to have a family.
If you don't think giving up some freedoms comes along with an exclusive relationship, you must not have any experience with it. The divorce statistics say it all. People change over time, and what they might have wanted initially might not be what they want today. Society and religion push marriage and children as the way to be, and it isn't for everyone. If a person is mature and self-aware enough to recognize that in the beginning, it saves a lot of trouble and heartache.

Ah, the adventure bug has hit movie star Jake Gyllenhaal. He’ll be joining host Bear Grylls to kick off six new episodes of Man Vs. Wild Mondays on Discovery beginning with Gyllenhaal’s episode on July 11 at 9 p.m.
The actor will spend two days with the adventurer in Iceland doing whatever and going wherever Grylls does. "For me, it’s all about discovery," says Gyllenhaal

Peter Sarsgaard To Direct And Write Born To Run But Will Jake Gyllenhaal Star?
After a couple of years in which he’s won acclaim on and off Broadway in Chekhov productions as well as captured attention and large audiences in An Education and Green Lantern, Peter Sarsgaard has revealed that he is about to make a career shift. He has confirmed to Hitfix and Menswear that he is shortly to make his directorial debut with Born to Run, a movie adaptation of Christopher McDougall‘s autobiographical account of running barefoot with the Tarahumara Indians of Mexico.
Endurance doesn’t even begin to cover the epic scale of Tarahumara running. They can cover hundreds of miles, steadfast in their belief that running free of modern running shoes enables them to cover vast distances without the injuries known all too well by athletes.
Sarsgaard’s association with Born to Run was first noticed in August last year when McDougall’s appearance in the famous Leadville 100 race in Colorado was accompanied by a crew and cameras – plus the crowd-drawing Peter Sarsgaard and his brother-in-law Jake Gyllenhaal. Despite being more than able runners themselves, the actors didn’t compete in the endurance event. They watched, observed and filmed.
But which of the two was it who was involved with the project?
Sarsgaard is not only directing Born to Run, he is writing the script. Acting in it as well would be a step too far. He told Hitfix:
We’re going to try to make, you know, a kind of wild dirt magazine sort of version of Born to Run that honors the true free spirit of what a lot of these people are like… I was drawn to it because I wanted to play Caballo Blanco and then I got drawn into directing it and now I don’t feel comfortable [doing both].
With Gyllenhaal frequently spotted running across the Hollywood Hills, sometimes in the ‘barefoot shoes’ made famous by McDougall, one might consider him a definite possibility for the lead (incidentally, he is also about to appear in a celebrity episode of Man vs Wild with Bear Grylls). Chris McDougall himself has contributed to the mystery over which of the actors would feature:
They’re keeping that one a bit under wraps for now, but [Jake's] involved. I’m not sure in what sense. But I will tell you that this dude is in unbelievable shape. We went up this mountain pass and this guy just blazed on by.
Sarsgaard is currently looking for funding for Born to Run, which will be produced by Kathy and Frank Marshall. The aim is to shoot through the winter in Sierra Madre, Mexico.

The George Clooney-directed The Ides of March will open the Venice Film Festival on Aug. 31, I'm told. The film, adapted from Beau Willimon's play Farragut North, stars Clooney as a presidential candidate, Ryan Gosling as a head of media and Phillip Seymour Hoffman as a campaign manager. Paul Giamatti, Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood also star. The drama takes place during the Ohio primary for the Democratic nomination. It's extremely topical, given the recent resignation of Congressman Anthony Weiner for sending photos of his package to online "sexting" partners. The Ides of March involves similar scandalous activities. Clooney, who retreats to a vacation home in Lake Como in Italy, has had several of his films play at the festival. They include Intolerable Cruelty, The Man Who Stared at Goats, and the Steven Soderbergh-directed Out of Sight. Sony Pictures will distribute the film in fall.

Clooney's win was a consolation prize of sorts for not winning in other categories. That is how the Oscars works at times. Jake's performance was not one of those showy ones the academy loves for supporting roles, and I don't get the sense Jake is one of those popular people who everybody loves and wants to pull for during awards season.
