Jake losing his dear friend makes him someone who has a lot of life experience and he will put his sad emotions into his acting. He believed he could have done more to help Heath Ledger and prevent what had happened but he should not feel that way. I don’t know if Jake knew what Michelle Williams was doing with her lawyers going after Heath but even if he did he couldn’t stop it. She is scum. The main scums who should have called 911 are that masseuse and Mary Kate. I believe that masseuse knew much sooner than she was willing to admit that the paramedics should have been called and Heath Ledger would be with all of us today.
Actually, the main scums are the people who saw Heath deteriorate and did nothing to encourage him to go to rehab, take time off, stop taking drugs and partying. (Mary Kate would fall into this bracket but she has a lot of company). These are the people who enabled him--they're the main scums.
And lastly, Heath was no innocent here--he should have recognized that he needed help and thought about Matilda, being around to see her grow up. My brother was an addict too and what really helped clean him up was the realization that if he didn't, he wouldn't be around to see my nephews (his reason for living) grow up.

You can talk until you're blue in the face, but it's not going to to do any good if the person who has problems refuses to get help. Re. Heath. I've always had mixed feelings towards him. But what I respected was his acting talent and realistic pov regarding Hollywood and his career. He wasn't a B.O. draw either, but I think later in his career he didn't even want to. I remember a comment by Heath saying that BBM was a hit because of the buzz surrounding it. He was not delusional (like, I believe, his co-star). I respected that. What I wasn't a fan of were the reports of partying and womanizing ways even while in a serious relationship with a woman. What I know is that often when I saw pictures of him and Michelle they looked miserable together, very differnt to his pics with Naomi Watts. I can't claim to know what went on in his life and his relationship with Michelle, but Mr. Gilliam gave me an idea, even though people are torn whether to believe him or not, I tend to believe him.
This all said, TDK would have made Heath a star, he was again dating a hot, young model, had a healthy child... his future looked so bright. :(
12:34, NSA is a better rom-com than LAOD because NSA KNOWs it's a rom-com and sticks pretty much exclusively to that genre whereas LAOD did know what it was and pretensions of being something greater than its parts.
Natalie and Ashton have a kind of awkward chemistry--they're sweet together and have a nice rapport. They're not as "hot" as Anne and Jake (and their scenes aren't nearly as sexy or provocative) BUT their characters are a hundred times more sympathetic, likable and relatable. She's playing a good girl and he's playing a good guy--they're neither sleazy nor desperate. (I know Anne's character had a reason to act that way but other than her great boobs, I didn't understand why Jake was so interested in her considering what a one-dimensional bitch she was--here in NSA Natalie is a commitment-phobe but she's not a bitch)
Also, there's no sleazy brother--the two are surrounded by a greek chorus of friends but they're by and large well written and well played by good actors like Greta Gerwig, Ludacris, among others. Even Kevin Kline, a great actor, plays Ashton's fading TV idol father.

4:19, have you seen NSA? I did. It doesn't suck. It's better than LAOD (which I thought was a mess and very offensive and in poor taste). Ashton is surprisingly good. I couldn't believe it. He really can act. That's the revelation of the film and he works well with Natalie.
Audiences seem to like NSA and it's already a hit. Natalie will probably win an Oscar for BS as well. I'd say a very successful year for her.

This argument is the problem with Jake's career. No doubt, those lettuce eating rodents who still make their comfortable livings spinning their tales about Straight Jake are probably still spoon feeding the guy this easily digestable pablum. Jake's career has tanked because of HIS decisions. HIS performances. HIS lack of imagination and unwillingness to see that what people always liked about Jake was HIMSELF. It wasn't the fans, it was his handlers and "advisors" who convinced him to sell out. That he couldn't be himself and have a successful career. They transformed him into a caricature of what they thought a movie star looked like. Unfortunately, there's no longer any flesh on the bones or blood in his veins. I disagree that Jake is lazy. Prior to 2006 he worked constantly. Look at imdb from 2001-2005. Eleven movies AND a critically acclaimed play in which he won an Outstanding Newcomer award. Yes, Jake started bearding with Kiki in 2002, but he worked his butt off the whole time. Something changed in late 2006 and I think that something was wanting to raise a family in the closet. That's when the Reeke crap started to be floated on the Rendition set. Jake was always in the closet, but it was more a glass one and he regularly made self- deprecating and provocative jokes that skirted the edges. I believe Austin and Jake are still together. Jake actually even made a point of being photographed with Nichols after the premiere of PoP in late May (with Austin's beard pushed into the background) and the OMG crowd discovered a photograph of him with Jake in Leadville back in late August. Evidently, one of the runners at the event, put it on the blog and no one noticed Austin until October. There's a few naysayers who say that isn't him, but the pic is pretty clear.

Boy, you know what's so ironic about this statement? Jake is considered to be gay by more people now than he ever was before he went into a deep closet. Even during the press for Brokeback Mountain, I don't remember people openly talking about Jake being gay. Sometimes I would hear that folks thought he might play for both teams, but not constant buzz about him being a liar and hypocrite. Or, constantly pointing out that he was an obvious tabloid phony who's just desperately trying to push himself as being straight. People aren't as stupid as Hollywood elites think they are.

What keeps Jake from being conventionally good looking is his longish face. Ang Lee said it was difficult to shoot Jake, he needed to find the right angle.
And he should stop wearing full beards, stubble is good, but a full beard makes him look older and less attractive. I get he wants to be taken seriously and thinks a beard will do, but good work and staying out of tabloids would be the much better method. ;)

Please, Jake had proven extremely well that he stay out of sight when he wants too. He left LA and went to Nashville and there wasn't any pics. He spent Dec in NYC and there were no pap pics. Jake is only "caught" in pap pics when he wants to be. Also the above post was stated as a supposition, not as a fact.
NSA is no. 1 at box office with 20 millions.
I must admit that Natalie and Ashton look good togher.
What bothered me about Jake and Anne is that Anne is just too tall for Jake. Jake is tall enough with 6 feet, but Anne looks better with a guy who is 6 feet 2 for instance. I like it when a woman is petite and a guy tall. Ashton and Natalie is a cute combo.

My assestment.
Most posters here think Jake is gay and hiding his sexuality while bearding. Some say it's because of the "showmances??". Most are here because of Ted's (blind Items which points to Jake, which also started off saying Jake was bisexual). Some are here because they intuitively think he's hiding something, his sexuality.
Well I was also interested in Ted's rumors and followed them until I had a flash of reality and started to think for myself and see how some of his reason and other sh-t sounded just like "for entertainment purposes only".
Although, In the beginning of followning JG I felt something was different about him just as most do, this did peak my interest.
Since then I have heard of many Hollywood young and old male stars who are in the closet. I believe some, I know this does and can happen, I also know there is more than what we see and more to these things than we know.
So many of the men, especially the young one's with the rumors have gotten married and some have a child or children now. (Orlando Bloom - Many rumors of he and the guy from LOTR) Both married with kids. I know the rationale that they can still be in the closet, True.
But, Some may not be and it can just be rumors! Also, Some can be bi-sexual men, young and old who don't want to, or will not come out as bisexual. In the closet bisexuals. LOL
It happens Wayyyy more than the avaerage person realizes.
There will always be those who will considered these men as gay no matter what, and I think this is part of some of what we have seen with these guy, maybe Jake. Most of these guys will have girlfriends and maybe get married with children. So you will see them with the opposite sex and if attention points towards anything other than straightness, they will (act out) as being nothing other.
Point is, most of the stars with gay rumors are probably bisexual to some degree. Yes, some are Gay and some might be totally str8.
