LG is not happy at all about the Kirsten rumors. In staying with the "Jake must not be tainted or dirtied in any way" theme, she not only claims concern over Kiki's "issues" but is also bothered by the fact that she doesn't wash her hair often enough
Hmmm I wonder if LG is our "Jake dropped Kirsten because she's dirty and a druggie and has issues and too much baggage and she was bad for his image" poster. Probably, huh.
"What happened to Sophia Bush, who JJ was claiming was on the invite list? I was preparing myself for another nauseating Sophin post."
Just Jared took the story from the NY Post but he confused the invite list that was for the private Guns N' Roses concert that took place on Valentine's day last month, not the Rufus one.
Rufus Wainwright's top-secret show The Rose Bar Sessions, a series of secret shows for a hand-picked crowd of 100 at the Gramercy Park Hotel's exclusive venue, will next host a performance by singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright. But the date's a strict secret. A spy said, "Not even hotel staff know when it is." When Page Six revealed last month's performance by Guns N' Roses, the place was flooded with more than 5,000 calls from people trying to get on the list. Those who made it included Mickey Rourke, Josh Lucas, Ryan Phillippe and Sophia Bush. Meanwhile, hotel owner Ian Schrager told us that Danny Meyer'snew concept for the rooftop restaurant will debut this spring.!
Hmmm I wonder if LG is our "Jake dropped Kirsten because she's dirty and a druggie and has issues and too much baggage and she was bad for his image" poster. Probably, huh.
Nah, I actually don't think so. Writing style is way different for one. And LG is so defensive of Jake (and his hetero status) her head would explode if she hung out here too often and then she wouldn't be able to keep everyone in line at DC, lol.
Atticus, I politely ask if they'd like to hang out with me and get to know each other in private. I don't go up to strangers in public, sniff their butts and mount them without asking their name or taking them out to dinner first.
And great catch on JJ ripping off the GNR guest list. I don't see how anyone could have confused something like that. And no wonder that bit of "news" didn't have a link.
Now here’s a PR strategy, a well executed sales pitch. Sam Worthington’s people, no doubt, will tell you there’s no manipulation involved here because it’s not necessary, because their client is that genuine, that authentic, that REAL, even in UNreal Hollywood. Sure. Whatever the reason it’s working, the bottom line is it’s working.
Sam Worthington, despite starring in the biggest movie of all time, and another huge blockbuster coming up (Clash of the Titans), tapped to be the next bond when Daniel Craig tires of the title, despite all this, Sam Worthington is still a mystery. They’ve played it very cleverly.
Next step: positioning him as this generation’s Man’s Man. The picture they’re painting: he was a bricklayer, he is not vain, not fussy, not into famewhoring, he doesn’t need much, he’d rather be homeless than fanny about at parties and premieres, the heir to Mel Gibson without (hopefully) the homophobia and the racial diatribes.
This is what they’re pitching in Details. Worthington is the magazine’s new cover feature with a good article and unfancy photos to complement his personality. And the running theme of course is that this is the Hero for both sexes. James Cameron said it best:
"It's hard to find a guy who works for women and for men. With a lot of actors, women love them, but they don't inspire men. I needed someone who could lead men into battle.”
True. This is the problem too with much of today’s talent. Orlando Bloom, Zac Efron, Robert Pattinson – the girls love them, but there is no way my husband would watch them. These are their challenges, of many, going forward. Worthington does not have that obstacle. And while his quiver doesn’t extend to my own loins, I can understand that it would extend to yours. Balance that with how he wields a hammer, and that the fact that he can do drama opposite Keira Knightley, and you can see why his team believes this is a complete package. And curiously enough he’s the Anti-Hollywood package. In other words, Worthington is not going to start moaning about “his craft” any time soon:
"Artistry has a kind of weird connotation because you can sound like you're going straight up your fucking ass if you say that. "I'm not a great fan of people who say they put a sheet up in the backyard when they were 7 and entertained all the neighbours. When I was 7, I thought I was a fucking fire truck."
That sense of entitlement we’ve been finding so offensive appears to be completely antithetical to the Sam Worthington Ideal. He does not speak as though he’s been ordained, touched by the divine hand, from God’s mouth to his ear, to be an actor. For him it’s a job, one he wants to be good at, one he’s willing to work hard at. At least that’s what the label reads. And for now, I’ll buy it.
I think after the beading the tabloids figure Jake is fair game, that he wants to be tabloid fodder, and that he wants to be seen as straight and is not going to protest them if they link him to every woman possible. More lasting damage from Reeke, imo.
Right now I can think only of Harrison Ford as an example for a great Hollywood career which started from zero to fantastic box office success and continued as a very nice movie career for a very good actor.
"Rachel & Olivia stories were based on something."
?????? Based on what??? Those stories were shamely written. He only shared a chat with Olivia and with Rachel he simply presented an Oscar. There was no indication that they might be sexually involved, there was only the fact that they "looked cute together". Besides, Rachel is dating some guy,she is not even single!!
At least, Jeremy Brenner's people are planting stories about him actually having romantic encounters with females...
Promoters of Disney's "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" -- in which Gyllenhaal stars -- are said to be looking for a way to get the actor's face front and center at the Indy 500 or "the race of all races," as E! Online gossip columnist Ted Casablanca described it.
"Rachel & Olivia stories were based on something." ?????? Based on what???
Based on the facts that Jake and Rachel presented an Oscar together and that Olivia was around when Jake and Jamie talked at the party. That's a lot! lol
Kate Winslet's marriage to Sam Mendes hit the rocks after they made a movie together about a couple who break up, friends said last night.
Months of stormy rows followed the filming of Revolutionary Road, in which Mendes directed his wife co-starring with Leonardo DiCaprio. A source close to Mendes explained the break-up by saying: 'He became bored working on his latest theatrical project, and he took that boredom home with him. And that led to the spark being taken out of their marriage.'
A: "I think there's a good way to do a prequel with someone else, but not me. What any studio is interested in is making a franchise like Bourne an evergreen that can just go on and on. With me playing him, Bourne got his memory back three times. So I don't think anybody wants to see me say 'I don't remember' again. But you could do a prequel with another actor being the first Bourne before his identity gets passed on to me. In fact, why not two or three? As for me coming back to do him again, I'm just saying no."
Jake Gyllenhaal in town shooting Source Code
said...
Fine American actor Jake Gyllenhaal has been spotted around town and if you're wondering what brings the star of Brokeback Mountain to our fair city, here's da scoop. He is here to star in Source Code, the real cool-sounding new movie from Duncan Jones. Jones is the guy who made that real cool sci-fi film last year titled Moon, which is a total mind-muck of a flick about a guy stranded by himself on a space station on the moon. The astro-nut is played by Sam Rockwell and it's just a terrific performance in a terrific film.
Source Code has already generated mucho favourable buzz on the Internet simply cos the story sounds so intriguing. Gyllenhaal plays a U.S. soldier who somehow becomes trapped inside the body of a commuter on a train and he is forced to keep on reliving a train bombing until he can find out who the bomber is. The cast also includes Michelle Monaghan, Jeffrey Wright and Vera Farmiga, who was recently nominated for an Oscar for her role in Up in the Air.
Jones has been shooting the movie here for the past three weeks. Click here to check out Jones's Twitter site, which is very active.
One popular route for gay men of the era was to remain lifelong husbands and devoted fathers. Their children now watch 'Mad Men' and, Batt said, routinely come up to him and Weiner and say, "My dad was Sal." Nearly 50 years later, loveless double lives are still common and sometimes end in tragedy. From the anti-gay state senator who was recently arrested for driving drunk from a gay bar to the heaps of actors and actresses in Hollywood's deep closet, plenty of people have gauged the cost of coming out and decided they can't afford it.
"If you are openly gay, the masses can be asses and sometimes can't get past the fact that that's how someone lives their private life," said Batt, who has been with his partner, Tom Cianfichi, for 21 years. "Some actors have to make a choice. If they have the opportunity to become these huge megastars, making millions and millions of dollars and have to live a lie, that's a choice they have to make. Not that I would ever be a big star, but I just had to live my life the way I saw fit."
LOL no, none of them knew. I kind of wanted to ask her what exactly they talked about but, I just couldn't! She said something like "Well I know all about oral sex now." OMG.
What's also funny is they saw them tape three shows and when I asked her what the topics were for each one the only one she could remember was the oral sex episode.

Q: I saw the Mad Men Barbies. Pretty good resemblance, but does Jon Hamm get an extra cash payment for that? —JameeFr1, Texas via the Answer B!tch mailbox
A: Indeed, the Don Draper Barbie does capture some of Draper's existentialist ennui, if not his inner demons spurring from all the lies he's living. Sounds like a fun dolly! Speaking of fun, there's also this way adorable, blocky Lego rendition of Jake Gyllenhaal's Prince of Persia character. But is there money forthcoming from all that happy plastic?
Not likely, entertainment attorneys tell me.
"In most circumstances these rights get dealt with as part of the initial deal with the actor," says Miles J. Feldman of the law firm Liner Grode Stein. Courts have heard arguments about just how much an actor's image is entwined in an iconic character. But "generally," Feldman says, "the copyright holder has the exclusive rights to exploit the characters."
In other words, no extra pay, really. Everything's built in to the actor's fee or weekly salary. Unless a TV show's producers didn't anticipate huge success when they first signed on the actors—the kind of popularity that spurs Barbies.
In that case, the show producers or toy manufacturers may cut a separate, new deal with the actors after a show is hot, but only in the context of the franchise, such as Mad Men. Enter a Don Draper doll, dressed in all his ring-a-ding-ding finery, but not a Jon Hamm doll. That would be a thoroughly unrelated type of hot.
None of this means that stars don't get some involvement in their toy merchandising.
When NBC announced a charity auction of some signed bobble heads modeled after The Office character Dwight Schrute, the actor who played him, Rainn Wilson, got to choose the charity.
Duncan Jones said... @ManMadeMoon what's it like to work with Jake? @andreascliment Jake is fantastic. Really get on well with him. Very good sense of humour and a snappy dresser.
X17 Xclusive - March 16th, 2010: Reese Witherspoon was spotted at the Brentwood Country Mart Tuesday afternoon. When a photographer asked her how she was doing, Reese responded with, "Your behavior is embarrassing!" Uh, okay! A little harsh, good thing no one asked her about the weather.
Disney has set two big screenings for ShoWest 2010: "Toy Story 3" and "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time."
The Pixar sequel will be screened March 16; the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced "Persia" will be shown March 18, the final day of the four-day exhibition confab in Las Vegas.
LOL. As much as I think Kate and Leo would be cute together in RL, she is apparently not his type. He seems to like young models. Kate also has baggage, two kids from two different men.

Dear Ted: Does Toothy Tile read your column? If so, how does he feel about being such a popular Blind Vice? It always makes me sad to think that he has to live a double life. I couldn't imagine how awful it would be if I had to pretend I wasn't with my husband when we were out in public. —Ellen
Dear Popularity Contest: Yes. Loves it. He's sad, too. Don't even start.
Toothy loves being a Blind Vice???!!!! So, what's up with all the bearding?
I can totally understand what Ted's saying here (and it's not that I take everything Ted says as gospel, I don't). I'm no psychologist, but it makes sense to me that a person who is closeted and truly conflicted about it, would get a kind of thrill from seeing himself semi-revealed in this way - it has to be liberating in some sense. He can keep doing what his handlers want him to and protect his career, and at the same time get some small satisfaction that his true self is out there, even if it's in a strange BV parallel universe.
Maybe its just my imagination or wishful thinking but whenever I see Jake doing the Hollywood thing such as the Oscars or the Golden Globes or even an interview about a movie, its like there this big secret that everyone knows about but pretends it doesn't exist.
Also think Jake dated Reese to get sympathy from Hollywood insiders. He could play the "look who they made me date just to sell tickets" card.
I also think there's an excitement factor at work or at least there was in the beginning. If you sell an image that a lot of the general public is buying and that same image gets supported by a lot of the PR dependent media, maybe there's a heady feeling of power there, too. You can have your cake and eat it, too - although I would think that would wear off after a while and that's why the "He's sad, too. Don't even start" sounds believable.
Unfortunately, I think the subdued, scared, awkward Jake that came out when Nate asked him about Heath was a brief and revealing glimpse of the sadness he carries around inside him (not necessarily about Heath, but in general).

I thought that too, one of many things we will never learn about Jake. Unless Jake decides to write a tell-all book.

Jake hides his real self for a long time, is that his second nature by now?
I'm no psychologist, but it makes sense to me that a person who is closeted and truly conflicted about it, would get a kind of thrill from seeing himself semi-revealed in this way
In light of prominent anti-gay activist Roy Ashburn recently being caught walking out of a gay bar, and proving once again that conservative voters have little to no Gaydar, here's a list of 10 conservative anti-gay activists who turned out to be gay themselves:
Spokane Mayor Jim West has worked really hard to debilitate gay rights in his community. He supported a bill to ban gays and lesbians from working in schools, daycare centers, and some state agencies, as well as a bill that bars the state from distributing pamphlets informing people how to protect themselves from HIV/AIDS.
He's proposed that "any touching of the sexual or other intimate parts of a person" among teens be considered a criminal act.
However, for 25 years, West was having sexual relationships with boys and young men from his community and was, before he was caught, frequenting the very incognito website--just to show you his ninja skills--gay.com All under the covers, of course. He even offered to find boys he'd "befriended" jobs with the city of Spokane in exchange for sex.
Unfortunately, I think the subdued, scared, awkward Jake that came out when Nate asked him about Heath was a brief and revealing glimpse of the sadness he carries around inside him (not necessarily about Heath, but in general).
The subject of Heath is an elephant in the room for Jake and Jake has no one to blame for it but himself.
Jake hides his real self for a long time, is that his second nature by now?
Probably, but it has to take a heavy toll.
Playing with fire can be addictive.
Exactly. And I do think Jake can be a bit of a thrill-seeker. He can't risk the semi-public sex like he used to but he can feed that part of himself in other ways.
He could still be angry at Heath for dying the way he did.
And I suppose Michelle wasn't angry at Heath for dying and leaving their kid orphan? Or Heath’s parents and close friends? Is anger supposed to prevail, not their love for him? Damn1
If Jake and Heath weren’t close why should Jake feel angry with Heath? He probably doesn’t care enough and it’s not his problem anyway.
If they were close, while there must be frustration with Heath for being reckless with his meds, those feelings must be of secondary importance. When someone you cared for dies young, you’re left with sadness and missing that person not with being angry or hating them for screwing up.
I guess 12:08 has never experienced the death of someone close before their time. Anger plays a huge part of the emotional rollercoaster you find yourself on.
Anger plays a huge part of the emotional rollercoaster you find yourself on.
This is true, but as this would apply to a lot of people who knew and loved Heath, I don't see this as an excuse for his silence. Imo, I think pressure from his handlers and a lack of maturity on his part is the real reason for his silence and I don't believe he is cold or unfeeling or that he doesn't care. Sadly, he has a lot of growing up to do for a 29 year old.
I'm sure Jake cared about Heath, that's enough for me
Read the rest of my post - I said I thought Jake cared. If that's enough for you, fine. I don't get the hyper-defensiveness about this issue or why Jake is supposed to be treated like some sacred cow.
I don't get the hyper-defensiveness about this issue or why Jake is supposed to be treated like some sacred cow.
We have never treated Jake like a sacred cow and it's not nice to trash him for not doing what we believe he should have done - emotions aren't right or wrong.
CDAN – This former A list boy bander is struggling to stay in the closet, but he might be emerging thanks to his affair with this male A list fashion designer who is supposedly very attached to his current boyfriend.
We have never treated Jake like a sacred cow and it's not nice to trash him for not doing what we believe he should have done - emotions aren't right or wrong.
I didn't trash him. If that's your idea of trashing, then I think you're being hyper-defensive, thus treating him like a sacred cow. And we're not talking about emotions. You might try actually reading posts instead of jumping to conclusions and throwing out those same old tired lines - I didn't criticize any emotions. Actions or inactions are different than emotions.
If fans of Matthew Morrison were taken aback by a December Elle interview (posted here) that seemed to obsess on the straight actor's sexual orientation, they couldn't have been more thrown than Morrison himself.
The interview duly noted the "Glee" star's assertion that "I'm not gay," but the reporter went on to say, "I had indeed read in various places that you're straight, but in light of the circumstantial evidence, I wasn't sure."
The questions put Morrison, a Broadway veteran who grew up singing and dancing, in the uncomfortable position of explaining that he wasn't "insulted or angry" about people assuming he is gay.
"That was, like, the worst interview I've ever done, and it kind of turned me off from doing interviews completely, because that guy was such a d**k," Morrison reveals to Zap2it. "It just turned into like a verbal sparring match and I was trying to be polite to him, but just right off the bat he came out with all these crazy accusations and stuff. So I was like, 'Ok, buddy... .' I was completely caught off-guard."
Jake is a sensitive man, his silence is reflection of his emotions.
LOL. I never said he wasn't sensitive. I said he cared. But okay. Let's say he's the most sensitive man ever to walk the face of the earth. So I guess no one else who loved or knew Heath was sensitive? And their heartfelt words were really a reflection of their insensitivity. You know what? Head over to babblers or lashers if you want to keep lecturing people, that's their m.o.
And I suppose Michelle wasn't angry at Heath for dying and leaving their kid orphan?
No doubt in my mind she is angry. But after he died she wanted the world to know about his good sides too, I think she felt obliged, cause he was the father of her child.
Jake is a sensitive man, his silence is reflection of his emotions.
I don't doubt that Jake's sensitive and that he liked Heath. But to me his silence is instruction from management. Like I think management instructed him and Heath to avoid being seen together in public. I think it's that "simple".
But to me his silence is instruction from management.
Look at his reaction to a simple question about Heath. That can’t be faked, he froze and looked downright panicked at first. In the end all he managed to get out was a lame response. His management probably doesn’t want Jake to discuss Heath but based on his reaction I think he doesn’t want to either. Why, we can only speculate.
Does anybody even factor in that after BBM both Heath and Jake were making other movies sometime thousands of miles apart which might account for them not being seen together and having nothing at all to do with management?
Let's say he's the most sensitive man ever to walk the face of the earth. So I guess no one else who loved or knew Heath was sensitive?
Jake is a person, an individual with his own character and emotions. I say give him some credit. Jake obviously doesn't want to talk about Heath and I will presume he has a good and very personal reason for that.
Babes, start saving your money for a new pair of Manolo Blahniks because Sex and the City 2 is right around the corner.
But be careful what you dish about the flick ahead of time!
Aside from the fact that we got creator Darren Star to hint a little that Big and Carrie's sex life is going down the pooper, we're surprised that almost two months out, other spoilers from the second movie have been practically nonexistent.
Or rather, we should say, we were surprised because we just found out how serious Warner Bros. is at keeping SATC 2 totally under wraps:
We're told by one of the actors that everyone working on the film—from the stars down to the makeup artists—have had to sign a $2.5 million nondisclosure agreement. ... SATC 2 Being Kept Super Secret—But Why?
A: Is “everybody” right when they say someone is gay, or are they just repeating rumors? It kinda depends.
To be fair, there are plenty of closeted celebrities who are quite open in their private lives — on movie sets and at semi-private Hollywood parties. (Many of these celebrities used to be completely open even in Hollywood restaurants, West Hollywood streets, but that's changed in the era of Perez.)
It stands to reason that there are plenty people who have attended these events who could say, with some authority, "Oh, yeah, that person is totally gay."
Then there are, of course, the people that actually have sex with these celebrities — dates and hook-ups and the like. They're also in, um, a position to know the truth — as are any very close friends to whom they might kiss-and-tell.
These folks are the source of on set of "gay" rumors. But there's another set of rumors that is much more ambiguous: the person who sees a celebrity at a gay bar, who may be straight, but out with gay friends. Then there's the friend of a friend of a friend who knows someone who had sex with a particular actor — but this method of sharing information didn't work when we all played the whispering game in kindergarten, so what makes you think it works as an adult?
There are also people who flat-out lie, because someone "looks" gay, or because of wishful thinking.
The problem is, when it comes to "gay" rumors, you never which "everyone" is the authority.
Years ago, around 1990, I was part of an activist group that was told by a national group that we needed to pressure celebrities to come out. They sent us a list of “closeted” celebrities, and they assured us that they were "absolutely positively sure" that every single person on that list was gay.
I still have the letter, and reading the names now is kind of fascinating, because many of the celebrities have, in fact, since come out: David Geffen, Kelly McGillis, Greg Louganis, Linda Hunt, Stephen Sondheim, k.d. lang, Jodie Foster, Lily Tomlin, Jim J. Bullock, Melissa Etheridge, George Michael, and the Indigo Girls.
(Incidentally, was there really a time when Jim J. Bullock, Melissa Etheridge, and the Indigo Girls weren't out?!?)
But there are other names on the list that I was assured were “absolutely, positively” gay — but who aren’t: Whitney Houston, Ron Reagan, Jr., Don Johnson, Rob Lowe, Burt Reynolds, Sylvester Stallone, Dolly Parton, Debbie Reynolds, Sharon Gless, Tom Selleck, Olivia Newton John, Julie Andrews, Robert Downey Jr., Richard Gere, and Diane Sawyer.
In other words, “everyone” had about a success rate of about 50%, which I think is about right.
Jake is a person, an individual with his own character and emotions Yes, but don't throw the "sensitive" card out there as if that sets him apart from and above everyone else.
I say give him some credit I'm not stopping you or anyone else from "giving him credit" if you wish. But please stop expecting other people to abide by your wishes.
Jake obviously doesn't want to talk about Heath ITA :)
I will presume he has a good and very personal reason for that. LOL. And once again we throw in the straw man. Again, you may presume as much as you want, no one is stopping you :)
Jake is a sensitive man, his silence is reflection of his emotions.
Jake obviously doesn't want to talk about Heath and I will presume he has a good and very personal reason for that.
Oh give it up. The constant exceptionalism you expect everyone to grant Jake is tedious. Jake obviously has a personal reason for not talking about Heath, but he is no more sensitive than some other actors. Daniel Day-Lewis can probably feel a butterfly's wings beating halfway around the world, yet he managed to talk about Heath.
I think it was the brilliant David Milch who said that a decent man should do three things: respect humanity, treat children with kindness, and honor the dead.
greek4cheerful: @hatie123 I always thought so much of Jake Gyllenhaal for not talking about Heath. Corey should follow that example.
Yes, everyone who loved, worked or knew Heath should’ve kept quiet, let the media rip him to shreds and then just forget about him. I mean WTF, he’s dead, who gives a shit?
There is no correct way to honor the dead. Neither you nor I knows if or how Jake has honored Heath. Heath seems to be the type of guy who didn't want a big fuss made over him. I didn't know 1/2 the actors who have spoken about Heath since his death were his friends to begin with.
Which should suggest how private Heath truly was or tried to be in his personal life. Just because Jake hasn't express his feelings about Heath's death to satisfy your standards doesn't mean he didn't grieve or hasn't honored him. Jake doesn' owe you or anyone else an explanation, statement or excuse.
I have to grant I'm glad that Jake and no one close to Heath scurried into Larry King's cave to blab about him. But there's a big difference between spewing to Larry or some tabloid and saying a few heartfelt and dignified words, the way DDL and a few others did.
Jake cares only about his career and money, and would do anything to protect that? Is that what you are saying?
What? LOL. Why are you putting words in my mouth? I didn't say anything like that, nor did I infer that. I'm sure he cares about a lot of things. Do you actually read posts? It doesn't look like it. How many times did I already say "I think he cares." "I don't think he's cold or unfeeling." Those were my exact words.
Look, obviously you can't come up with anything to refute what I've said because you ignore my actual words and you have to resort to this exaggerated crazy talk in addition to the straw man argument. Please stop, because I'm not going to waste my time responding to anymore b.s. and you'll be talking to yourself. I get that you don't share my opinion and it bugs you that I'm expressing it, but there's nothing I can do about that.
How you do know Jake hasn't honored Heath? Not everyone has to honor people they cared for publicly. Heath was a very private man. Why is it so important to you that Jake speak about Heath, what connection do you have to Heath and Jake and their friendship?
Celebrtities should have to share everything with their fans especially grief.
Jake doesn' owe you or anyone else an explanation, statement or excuse.
He doesn't owe me at all, but if they were friends even a little, Jake owed it to Heath. His silence when almost everyone else had/has spoken suggests he does not care about Heath being smeared, and does not honor his memory.
Anyway, Heath doesn't need any kind of endorsement from Jake. Many other good people have said fine things. What I take issue with is your pushing the idea that Jake is SO exceptional in his sensitivity and emotion.
Celebrtities should have to share everything with their fans especially grief.
Of course not. But why can’t some people understand that a short statement doesn’t equate to sharing his grief with the world? Jake didn’t have to write a ten page essay on how Heath was a good guy, talented actor, etc., didn't have to go into anything personal. A couple of touching sentences and this whole situation would’ve been avoided.
Jake didn’t have to write a ten page essay on how Heath was a good guy, talented actor, etc., didn't have to go into anything personal. A couple of touching sentences and this whole situation would’ve been avoided.
Maybe he doesn't have anything positive to say about Heath.
Maybe he doesn't have anything positive to say about Heath.
Maybe he would have said how senseless his death was and caused by recklessness. Causing his kid to become half-orphan. And that he didn't want to diminish his drug problem like many of Heath's other friends did. That he had so much to live for, his kid, career and friends, but he threw his life away instead of searching for help.
If Jake wanted to say all that, it's good he kept it to himself.
Many think they weren’t friends. In that case, Jake doesn’t have much right to judge and be angry with the mistakes Heath did in his own personal life, instead he should be relieved Heath kicked the bucket, less competition that way.
Causing his kid to become half-orphan.
LOL, give me a break. The same kid Jake ignores.
Just wondering, are you the 'safe and clean friends' poster (not that I expect you to admit it)?

Jake is not her father and not responsible for her. The only person who is, is her mother. I do think, however, that he keeps in touch with them. They probably aren't in each others close circle of friends though.
You can most definitely be angry when someone close to you dies - yes, angry because they screwed up, not just because they are gone. It's one of the early stages of grief and it doesn't have to make sense, why you feel the way you do. After two years tho, I would think most of the anger would have subsided. You could definitely see that Jake cared about what happened to Heath, and cares about him, IMO, by the way he answered Nate's question. I don't want to see him uncomfortable, but still, IDK.
Maybe he would have said how senseless his death was and caused by recklessness. Causing his kid to become half-orphan. And that he didn't want to diminish his drug problem like many of Heath's other friends did. That he had so much to live for, his kid, career and friends, but he threw his life away instead of searching for help
Ah, yes, the truth always emerges and the hatred for Heath always ends up being revealed. You're talking about a human being. You know, I think Jake's silence is odd and I'm disappointed in it - but no way do I think he's capable of the kind of despicable callousness you've shown here.
UGO got the exclusive first look at the final poster for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time starring Jake "Man Meat " Gyllenhaal. The poster shows off Jake's muscular tan figure, Gemma Arterton's belly dancing hips and Ben Kingsley's enormous ears. I actually hadn't noticed how big Ben's ears were before. Very distracting...
I have a problem with posters like the one below. Why is everyone looking in a different direction? Jake is off looking in La-La Land, Gemma is staring straight ahead as if she just spotted a 50% off sign at a clothing store and Ben Kingsley is trying hard not to look like that grandfather who beats your children when he agrees to babysit.
I'm going to be seeing Prince of Persia next week at ShoWest in Las Vegas, so be sure to check back when I give you my thoughts on the film.
Click on the cleverly cropped poster to see the entire thing.

lol, perfect descriptions. Gemma actually looks more intimidating than the Prince. Jake looks handsome, of course, but despite the muscles and the two daggers, his expression is almost bewildered.
Dear Miss Kitty Kelley, I'm ready to talk to you now. Please hurry. Love, Atti P.S. I'll attach pics and vids in email tomorrow (from internet cafe) and I'll send the underwears by Fed Ex
I wonder how many critics will be at the POP preview. It's not the entire film, but from the screen shots showing up Jake looks out of place half the time. Let's hope he pulls this off.
Even if Heath was no longer a friend, they were co-actors in an iconic film. A few words - I'm so sorry, he was a great actor and my regrets go to his family - would have sufficed. It was rude to say nothing.
Exactly 12:23. And it's not as though he had to actually say them in person and on tape or hold a press conference. A written statement issued by his publicist would have been fine.
A couple of touching sentences and this whole situation would’ve been avoided.
Social norms and forms are the most important?
True, honoring a death and the life that preceded it is not, strictly speaking, necessary. We don't have to hold funeral services. There is no need to mark someone's passing in any way.
It seems to me, however, that not respecting and acknowledging someone in death amounts to devaluing life.
The form can vary. But conclusionary rituals - memorials, a toast, words of remembrance - serve to distill a memory of the deceased and say: this person's life had value and meaning.
Whether you personally think that important or not, to skip such rituals is to skip the first step in healing from the loss of the person. Psychologists say that those who skip the funeral completely or make no acknowledgment of the deceased have the hardest time afterward. They end up experiencing huge amounts of anxiety whenever facing the reality and finality of the death.
The other purpose of ackowledgments is to celebrate the life of the person who died. People pay their respects to the family, share memories and stories of how the deceased affected their life. Many families are surprised to know their loved one touched so many different people in so many ways. This sharing brings comfort to their grieving hearts. If for nothing else but this, social rituals are important.

We don't know what happened in private, we only know that Jake didn't share his feelings with the rest of the world.

Dear Ted: You've lost me on this latest Morning Piss. Writing that other bloggers are trying to out an actor sends readers on a hunt to find out his identity, thus further spreading the rumor. And I'm sorry, but I truly believe that Blind Vices are just as bad as saying a person's name outright, albeit more polite. Because of your Blind Vices, I associate certain people with certain lifestyles. Whether my instincts are true is another story; however, I still can't read about a certain someone without thinking "That poor Toothy Tile!" —Helen
Dear Vice Crisis: The rumors about that certain celeb are out there already—and not on tiny goss blogs, mind you—so I felt it deserved addressing. How you take B.V.s is your prerogative, but the simple fact of the matter is that I will never explicitly out someone and I don't pressure the Vice stars to admit their sexuality. I just like reporting their dirty deets. And they secretly so love it!
Dear Ted: I'm pro love and couldn't care less about anyone's sexual preference and think it's terrible that gay actors have to hide their sexuality in order to have a successful career. That said, I kind of agree or at least understand why they feel the need to hide it. I wish it weren't the case, but I have to be honest in saying that it does make a difference to me when I'm watching a gay man or woman in a heterosexual role, it's just not believable. Like Neil Patrick Harris—such a cutie, so talented, great actor, love him, but can't watch him in a hetero role. Is it just me? What do you think the answer is? More gay roles as the norm? I'm just curious as to what you think about this. Also, why does it seem there are fewer lesbians in Hollywood? There are always rumors of gay men but not women...Do they just hide it better? —Lola
Dear Honest to a Fault: Obviously you do care about someone's sexual preference if it affects the way you see that actor when he is playing a role—and that mentality is why gay actors are so afraid to come out. Just because, say, Angie and Brad play assassins in Mr. & Mrs. Smith doesn't mean they're out killing people on the weekend. And R.Pattz playing a vamp doesn't mean you'll find him sucking blood on his off hours. So why should it be any different for gays playing straight?
I have to be honest in saying that it does make a difference to me when I'm watching a gay man or woman in a heterosexual role, it's just not believable.
Gay men still don’t get to play Rhett Butler in Hollywood
...More than half a century ago readers of the now defunct tabloid, the Sunday Pictorial, edited by the obsessively homophobic Hugh Cudlipp, voted Rock Hudson their favourite piece of cinematic beefcake. Hudson was, though, gay — a fact successfully concealed for decades by the all-knowing film industry that forced him into a short-lived marriage. It was not until the Eighties when his film career had already nose-dived and he was dying of Aids that illness finally forced Hudson, who was much liked in Hollywood, out of the closet, where he had precariously lived all his life.
Hudson's need to keep quiet about his sexual self was understandable in the gay witch-hunting Fifties and the decades of intolerance that followed on. Yet, in one sense, little has changed in Hollywood.
Today, if you are gay and have the looks, talent and ambition to be a cinema star, especially a romantic leading man with big box-office clout, you still need to conceal your sexual orientation.
The same applies to the British stage. “It's very much like the American military — don't ask, don't tell,” an influential casting insider for film and theatre was telling me last week. “You really can't afford to come out if you're trying to be or have become a romantic male lead in film.”
The Hollywood movie industry and producers, forever prepared to keep Hudson's true sexuality under a veil of secrecy, may apparently gather or even have shadowy evidence that some star has gay leanings but they will keep a vow of silence, if only on the grounds that they believe disclosure would affect the man's box-office potential and their profits.
Rupert Everett is the one outstanding example of an actor who proclaimed he was gay and tried to make it in Hollywood. It didn't work — at least not for long. The Scottish actor, Alan Cumming, plays oddball characters in Hollywood movies and on Broadway. Sir Ian McKellen, coming out in middle-age, made a lucrative, second-life career as a character actor. Antony Sher, Simon Russell Beale and Simon Callow, all well over 40, did come out.
But John Barrowman is the first and only actor who has come out as gay and enjoys leading man status — his fame, though, depends on television.
Hollywood may yet change its arthritic state of mind about sexual orientation, but first the world will need to alter a little more too.
True, honoring a death and the life that preceded it is not, strictly speaking, necessary. We don't have to hold funeral services. There is no need to mark someone's passing in any way. It seems to me, however, that not respecting and acknowledging someone in death amounts to devaluing life.
If someone, for example, told you that marriage is the only right way of honoring love and family life and that you should marry your longtime partner, you would tell the person to fuck off because only you have the right to decide about official and public acknowledgement of your love and commitment.
Despite previous reports, Jake Gyllenhaal will not be filming scenes for the upcoming thriller Source Code. VIA Rail couldn't come to terms for their fee with the producers, so Ottawa will miss out on as much as $200,000 injected into the local economy. Also, we'll miss out on Jake Gyllenhaal. Thanks, VIA. If you can't get the trains to run on time, you could at least expose us to a hottie or two (co-star Vera Farmiga).

RIVER: That's really sweet, Keany.
KEANU (about River): he’s beautiful, inventive, funny and creative, too.

«Oldest ‹Older 1201 – 1400 of 2896 Newer› Newest»I think there will be stories about Jake and Kirsten reconnecting and they'll use anything, made up sightings and even Atticus.
That would be a bad idea if Kirsten is really dating that guy, Rachel and Olivia are single.
What happened to Sophia Bush, who JJ was claiming was on the invite list?
Sophia will get her own post! Duh!

No wonder James Cameron is such a good director: he knows audiences.
Atticus: Quit yapping and pointing and throw the damn ball!
Rufus Wainwright's top-secret show
The Rose Bar Sessions, a series of secret shows for a hand-picked crowd of 100 at the Gramercy Park Hotel's exclusive venue, will next host a performance by singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright.

Nah, I actually don't think so. Writing style is way different for one. And LG is so defensive of Jake (and his hetero status) her head would explode if she hung out here too often and then she wouldn't be able to keep everyone in line at DC, lol.
No wonder Jake takes Atticus out of state to his movie sets. The LAPD has to protect all the dogs in the city.
Daddy likes to hump, too!

Creating Sam Worthington

Orlando Bloom, Zac Efron, Robert Pattinson – the girls love them, but there is no way my husband would watch them.
Thank Moses, I don't have that problem!

I think after the beading the tabloids figure Jake is fair game, that he wants to be tabloid fodder, and that he wants to be seen as straight and is not going to protest them if they link him to every woman possible. More lasting damage from Reeke, imo.
The only problem with Sam Worthington's PR BS, it limits him as an actor.
Right now I can think only of Harrison Ford as an example for a great Hollywood career which started from zero to fantastic box office success and continued as a very nice movie career for a very good actor.
Just to add that Harrison beats Sam in looks and man's man department.

Q: How to keep the Bourne hit-machine alive.
ONTD - Matt Damon Says 'No' to More 'Bourne' Films

Bryan Batt Talks Sal's 'Mad Men' Fate, Hollywood's Gay Problem
^^^
LOL I gotta tell someone about this! My 89 year old grandmother went to a TV taping with her senior citizen group and the topic was oral sex. LMAO
That's pretty funny. Was your grandmother aware beforehand that would be the topic?

Do Jake and Jon Get Paid to Be Action Figures?

I can totally understand what Ted's saying here (and it's not that I take everything Ted says as gospel, I don't). I'm no psychologist, but it makes sense to me that a person who is closeted and truly conflicted about it, would get a kind of thrill from seeing himself semi-revealed in this way - it has to be liberating in some sense. He can keep doing what his handlers want him to and protect his career, and at the same time get some small satisfaction that his true self is out there, even if it's in a strange BV parallel universe.
Toothy loves being Toothy :)
Unfortunately, I think the subdued, scared, awkward Jake that came out when Nate asked him about Heath was a brief and revealing glimpse of the sadness he carries around inside him (not necessarily about Heath, but in general).
whenever I see Jake doing the Hollywood thing such as the Oscars or the Golden Globes or even an interview about a movie, its like there this big secret that everyone knows about but pretends it doesn't exist.
What secret?
Unfortunately, I think the subdued, scared, awkward Jake that came out when Nate asked him about Heath was a brief and revealing glimpse of the sadness he carries around inside him (not necessarily about Heath, but in general).
I thought that too, one of many things we will never learn about Jake. Unless Jake decides to write a tell-all book.
I also think there's an excitement factor at work or at least there was in the beginning. If you sell an image that a lot of the general public is buying and that same image gets supported by a lot of the PR dependent media, maybe there's a heady feeling of power there, too.
Jake hides his real self for a long time, is that his second nature by now?
I'm no psychologist, but it makes sense to me that a person who is closeted and truly conflicted about it, would get a kind of thrill from seeing himself semi-revealed in this way
Playing with fire can be addictive.
In light of prominent anti-gay activist Roy Ashburn recently being caught walking out of a gay bar, and proving once again that conservative voters have little to no Gaydar, here's a list of 10 conservative anti-gay activists who turned out to be gay themselves:
Top 10 Anti-Gay Activists Caught
^^^
My #1 - Jim West
Some handcuffs, please. And no, not that kind.
Two DL opinions:
Maybe it's not so much "distress" as it is "anger." He could still be angry at Heath for dying the way he did.
Or maybe he feels guilt because he wasn't there for him.
So after two years, all Jake is left with is anger towards Heath (IF Jake cared for Heath that is). Wow, with such friends who needs enemies.
'Jake doesn’t want to talk about Heath because of anger' excuse doesn't hold water. People much, much closer to Heath talked about him.
And I suppose Michelle wasn't angry at Heath for dying and leaving their kid orphan?
Every person is different.
Every person is different.
LOL, what a clever comeback! Now everything makes sense.

Glad to hear that!

I'm sure Jake cared about Heath, that's enough for me.
Jake Gyllenhaal at Olive + Gourmando
That guy never leaves Jake's side.
When someone you cared for dies young, you’re left with sadness and missing that person not with being angry or hating them for screwing up.
Not angry or hating them for screwing up, angry for leaving you.
Bodyguard?
I'm sure Jake cared about Heath, that's enough for me
Read the rest of my post - I said I thought Jake cared. If that's enough for you, fine. I don't get the hyper-defensiveness about this issue or why Jake is supposed to be treated like some sacred cow.
Bodyguard?
Could be, even though he doesn't look like he's in shape.
I don't get the hyper-defensiveness about this issue or why Jake is supposed to be treated like some sacred cow.
We have never treated Jake like a sacred cow and it's not nice to trash him for not doing what we believe he should have done - emotions aren't right or wrong.

Jake is a sensitive man, his silence is reflection of his emotions.
ONTD - Matthew Morrison not happy with Elle interview
Anne outside her L.A. home. I seems she moved to L.A. I wonder if it was her bf's idea?
JJB
Maybe Jake is angry that he's the only "gay cowboy" left to make fun of? When Heath was alive they shared it. They were in this together.
Heath Nasty!!!
J/K. ;)
Does anybody even factor in that after BBM both Heath and Jake were making other movies sometime thousands of miles apart which might account for them not being seen together and having nothing at all to do with management?
Could be, even though he doesn't look like he's in shape.
I know karate and three other Asian words!
LOL :)
His management probably doesn’t want Jake to discuss Heath but based on his reaction I think he doesn’t want to either.
Why the management wouldn't want Jake to talk about Heath?
Q: Oh wingéd primate, can you answer my query? I have often heard about celebrities that "everybody" knows are gay, but are not out to the public. Is "everybody" ever right, or is it all rumor? How does "everybody" even know? In respect to your policy, any example you give can be of celebrities who are now officially out. — Kaci, Kentucky
Ask the Flying Monkey! (March 17, 2010)
Jake is a person, an individual with his own character and emotions
Yes, but don't throw the "sensitive" card out there as if that sets him apart from and above everyone else.
I say give him some credit
I'm not stopping you or anyone else from "giving him credit" if you wish. But please stop expecting other people to abide by your wishes.
Jake obviously doesn't want to talk about Heath
ITA :)
I will presume he has a good and very personal reason for that.
LOL. And once again we throw in the straw man. Again, you may presume as much as you want, no one is stopping you :)
I'm not so sure of some of those on the "are not gay" list.
I'm not so sure of some of those on the "are not gay" list.
Probably because some of them aren't straight :)

Maybe someday Jake will do the last for Heath.
greek4cheerful: @hatie123 I always thought so much of Jake Gyllenhaal for not talking about Heath. Corey should follow that example.
That's NOT my tweet :)
^ I'm not holding my breath.
Jake obviously has a personal reason for not talking about Heath, but he is no more sensitive than some other actors.
Who said anything about Jake being more sensitive than some other actors? Why Jake's personal reason for not talking about Heath makes him a bad guy?
greek4cheerful: @hatie123 I always thought so much of Jake Gyllenhaal for not talking about Heath. Corey should follow that example.
Yes, everyone who loved, worked or knew Heath should’ve kept quiet, let the media rip him to shreds and then just forget about him. I mean WTF, he’s dead, who gives a shit?
Thre is nothing wrong with keeping your feelings to yourself.
...and honor the dead.
I get that you don't share my opinion and it bugs you that I'm expressing it, but there's nothing I can do about that.
What is your opinion? That Jake should have talked about Heath beacuse that is the ONLY right way?
.... honor the dead.
I wonder if Jake and Anne will permit questions about BBM and Heath during LAOD promo?
Anne did pay a nice tribute and during interviews spoke fondly of Heath though.
Not.

:)
He eloped with his chubby boyfriend there.
Chubby short straight assistants are safer!

Of course you do. I believe pigs can fly, too.
I see you didn’t bother to answer my question, I guess I don't need you too. ;)
Dastan: You are wearing too much clothes!
Beautiful post, Anon. 6:16 #1.

No, but the King has two biological sons.

I'm going to be seeing Prince of Persia next week at ShoWest in Las Vegas, so be sure to check back when I give you my thoughts on the film.

lol, perfect descriptions. Gemma actually looks more intimidating than the Prince. Jake looks handsome, of course, but despite the muscles and the two daggers, his expression is almost bewildered.

Totally OT< but was it Reese who started the curse of the Oscar Best Actress Winner getting divorced after winning the Oscar?
I think Sandy is heading that way, not to mention Kate. I blame Reese, she put a bad shadow over the Oscar for best actress.
No, but the King has two biological sons.
Whew. Then it wasn't incest.
Oh no, not the incest jokes! lol
I'm sure when the movie airs there will be plenty of such jokes. ;)
We would never do anything like that!
Many families are surprised to know their loved one touched so many different people in so many ways. This sharing brings comfort to their grieving hearts. If for nothing else but this, social rituals are important.
We don't know what happened in private, we only know that Jake didn't share his feelings with the rest of the world.

That will be interesting.

Dear Ted:
You've lost me on this latest Morning Piss. Whether my instincts are true is another story; however, I still can't read about a certain someone without thinking "That poor Toothy Tile!"

Dear Vice Crisis:
The rumors about that certain celeb are out there already—and not on tiny goss blogs, mind you—so I felt it deserved addressing. How you take B.V.s is your prerogative, but the simple fact of the matter is that I will never explicitly out someone and I don't pressure the Vice stars to admit their sexuality. I just like reporting their dirty deets. And they secretly so love it!
Dear Ted:
I'm pro love and couldn't care less about anyone's sexual preference and think it's terrible that gay actors have to hide their sexuality in order to have a successful career.

Dear Honest to a Fault:
Obviously you do care about someone's sexual preference if it affects the way you see that actor when he is playing a role—and that mentality is why gay actors are so afraid to come out. Just because, say, Angie and Brad play assassins in Mr. & Mrs. Smith doesn't mean they're out killing people on the weekend. And R.Pattz playing a vamp doesn't mean you'll find him sucking blood on his off hours. So why should it be any different for gays playing straight?
Bitch Back!
Because of your Blind Vices, I associate certain people with certain lifestyles.
Gay lifestyle?!?
I have to be honest in saying that it does make a difference to me when I'm watching a gay man or woman in a heterosexual role, it's just not believable.
Lola doesn't like gays.
And since she loves honest guys with big baby blues so much, maybe Hewitt could help Gyllenhaal mend his broken heart.
Fuck off, People magazine.

^^There are some adorable pics and quotes (They spoke very fondly of each other. And there are some nice tributes of Keanu after R.'s death).
If someone, for example, told you that marriage is the only right way of honoring love and family life and that you should marry your longtime partner, you would tell the person to fuck off because only you have the right to decide about official and public acknowledgement of your love and commitment.

Keanu has a lot of luck in his professional and too much tragedy in his personal life.

True. River died (in a recent interview he said that he still misses him), his sister is sick, his baby girl and baby mama died. :(
Despite previous reports, Jake Gyllenhaal will not be filming scenes for the upcoming thriller Source Code.

QUESTION: Define 'Best Friend'.
RIVER: Someone you can tell all your secrets to. For me it's a guy you enjoy being with, a guy you love and a guy you care about. Keanu is my buddy, dude.
KEANU: I've always loved you, River. River is my best friend and I don't have many of them.
RIVER: That's really sweet, Keany.
KEANU (about River): he’s beautiful, inventive, funny and creative, too.
To do more Shakespeare, perhaps?
Keanu Reeves: Um, who knows? I really would like to do Shakespeare with River. I think we'd have a hoot. We could do A Midsummer Night's Dream or Romeo and Juliet.
River Phoenix: I'll be Juliet.
Beautiful Keanu/River pictures
