I always thought the Heath Ledger BV was the one that came out after that Canada.com about the star of a "sweet-sounding film" who basically called a teenaged rent-boy from the internet (while the star was in town for the Toronto Film Festival) to service him. He also had the boy sign a confidentiality agreement. Anyway, Ted's BV (that I thought was about Heath) came out shortly thereafter--it was about a star who secretly gets together with men, tells them not to kiss him or anything like that (has them sign confidentiality agreements) while he screws them. There were references in that BV that made me think of Heath and Michelle.
But now I'm not so sure that was him--I don't think Heath would have been so callused with guys (if he screwed them).

No, Ted is NOT writing a tell all book about Heath. He's writing a book that incorporates a lot of his blind vices and his experiences as a gossip writer. Ted has talked about this before.

The guy had a serious drug problem and it's sad that the director from Candy even seemed to encourage it to make the performance more real. Heath didn't take care of himself and neither seemed the people in his life. Sad.

I thought the question and the insinuation were weird, especially when it comes to Natalie, who I think is just an "okay" actor, but I didn't think Jake looked bothered. Plus, in the Australian interview he's the one who brings up the fact that he was honored to work with Tobey: "A: I was honoured that Tobey wanted to do the movie, because I know he’s very picky. And he’s had so many opportunities to choose to do movies and he picked this one. So, from the beginning I felt kind of honoured that he wanted to do it..."

Tobey is a VERY good actor, very underrated. People forget his earlier work in "The Ice Storm," "Wonder Boys" and "Cider House Rules."

What he said about Heath doesn't qualify as praise but I believe he was honest about it.
As for Tobey, say what you will, but I get the feeling Jake was being polite with his praise during Brothers promo and he didn't really believe what he was saying. But when interviewers make a point of telling you how great you co-star is what else to do but agree and up the compliments? Otherwise he'd look jealous. Also, I find it interesting that in many Brothers interviews he talks about the great competition between Tobey and himself. Once he said their relationship was awkward on set.
I disagree that Tobey was terrific in Brothers, his hamming was annoying and pulled me right out of the movie.
He's been gone for two years but some still have their knickers in a tight knot ;)

Babblers on DCF sure commented on his drug use and how glad they were Jake is clean. A few days after the guy passed. But then they pay tributes on his death anniversary on their blog. Hypocrites.

It occurred to me as I was re-reading that interview, that if I didn't know who Heath Ledger was, I wouldn't know that he had died two years ago from what Jake said.
I re-read it too and agree with you. I also think it's strange that he brought up Heath like that, out of the blue and without having had acknowledged his death publicly first. It’s like he talks about someone who hasn’t been dead for a couple of years.
The few times I visited DCF all I saw was blind praise for all the cast of BBM.

But they did comment on his drug abuse during the days following his passing. They couldn't wait to comment on it, not just on DC but on their own journals. They just tried to disguise their comments with stuff about how sad they were for Matilda or how angry they were. In the BBM fandom Jake was prefered, I guess because he seemed more open and there were this TT BI's that made him more interesting. Heath and Michelle had a couple of devoted fans though, but most didn't really care about them. And yes there were posts like "we are glad Jake isn't a druggie" or the insistence that Jake is straight, cause you know he wouldn't lie to his fans, ever.

The problem (or not) with Heath was that he had an arrogant, unapproachable vibe going on (although by all accounts he was a nice, easy going fellow) and he didn't know how to behave in front of media. This used to piss off Lamey who wrote that he could at least try to pretend sometimes. Oh well. I think it's no exaggeration that he was media shy, watch some premiere vids, I personally can't watch some of them cause he makes me feel awkward too.

1:03 PM # 1. One thing I agree with you is that it was Jake's prerogative not to talk about Heath. To me it doesn't matter either way. But to think it has deep reasons, to me, is far fetched. I think he just didn't want to bring attention to his and Heath's friendship that could lead to unneeded and probably untrue rumors. Now he saw that people don't suspect anything about their friendship and he talks more freely about him. Both had/have people much closer to them and these people praised Heath, so there's not only tabloid bs spread about him. But I guess some Brokies will alway wish there was more than friendship, and I don't even think it was that deep of a friendship, between them. But that's ok. :)

I think he had his flaws,of course, and he was afraid that people or journalist might discover

I would disagree. For all his performances he was praised for, he really deserved it.
I do agree with the rest of what you said though.
I know I have problems with Jake not talking about Heath because he died while Jake was bearding with Reese and running away from anything that had the slightest taint of gay about it. It is impossible for me to separate his silence from those facts. I will always wonder/think that Jake didn't talk because it was part of his pr campaign to disassociate himself from BBM, that he was afraid if he got too emotional people would read too much into it, that it would just make people think of him being Heath's bottom, that he would never get people to see him as straight at a time when, publicity-wise, that is all he seemed to care about.
Maybe I'd feel differently if he'd been completely silent too. But instead we got Reeke hiking, the story about Reeke laughing it up that seems to have been a pr/fake blogger sighting that was planned before Heath died (and no one thought to pull the plug on it), and Reeke shopping in Soho, where Heath lived and died.
Even if Jake didn't want to say anything for other, legitimate reasons, his people should have been smart enough to release even the shortest of statements on his behalf, even if it was to say he was too upset to comment. They should have known what it meant to Jake and Heath's fans. And it certainly didn't help Reeke, because I think it just soured even more people on them.
Of course expecting the same people who thought Reeke would make him the new Brad Pitt can't be counted on to be smart.
I know some think Jake was in his entire right to not talk about Heath's passing and I believe that too. Is not like i think he should be fined for not mentioning his friend's death but please, don't tell me that Jake's silent is not a cause of speculation and questioning.

This really impacted Ted and Lisa as they sat there silently listening to Jake, his body language saying as much as his words, and they could sense an underlying difficulty as Jake spoke. Emily also seemed transfixed as Jake spoke.
To try to show the emotions going through everyone at this point, there was a moment when Jake seemed to lose his train of thought, or whatever he was thinking was either difficult to express or something, he ended up putting his head down into his hands and said he had lost his train of thought, and Lisa said, “Don’t worry it happens to all of us!" So much was being felt and expressed at that moment it didn’t seem to surprise anyone that everyone’s brains were getting a bit scrambled.

let me put it this way since you have already judged me.
I liked Heath and thought of him as one of Hollywoods most beautiful and promising young male actors. I noticed him more after BrokeBack Mountain. I really felt for him in his interviews, he was really a shy and nervous person and it did not come off well on TV. While being engrossed in the hype of BBM, I noticed Heath did little press. When the rumors of Jake got bigger after he did BBM, IMO, Heath seem to not want to be associated with Jake. I don't know this to be true, but it just felt that way. All the paps chasing Jake. I know Heath wanted no part of this. And I believe Heath's people (the bad PR bunch, oh Yes Heath had them also) advised him to stay away from the BBM issues or Jake and move on the his next projects or otherwise get caught up in the whole Jake / Heath Gay BBM issues. Somehow all the all negatives shit stuck with Jake and Heath was unscathed with the BBM. Of course, with a woman on your arms and a baby on the way helps the probing eyes look in another direction.

If what you say about Heath is or was true (dip his toes a little into homo loving), what does this make him to be sexually in your book. Ohhh, don't get me started. Just imagine if they got together again. I do think Naomi was very important to Heath and a big part of his life for a time. For whatever reason, it didn't work out, but they were able to remain friends. You don't stop caring about certain people in your life just because you break up, and especially if they died tragically. I think the world of Naomi for being so supportive during that time.

For many years, there has been only one place where I am in touch with my emotions fearlessly and that’s the stage. Being on stage fills my soul in many ways, almost completely. It’s my vice. The music, the lights and the roar of the audience are elements that make me feel capable of anything. This rush of adrenaline is incredibly addictive. I don’t ever want to stop feeling these emotions. But it is serenity that brings me to where I’m at right now. An amazing emotional place of comprehension, reflection and enlightenment. At this moment I’m feeling the same freedom I usually feel only on stage, without a doubt, I need to share.
Many people told me: “Ricky it’s not important”, “it’s not worth it”, “all the years you’ve worked and everything you’ve built will collapse”, “many people in the world are not ready to accept your truth, your reality, your nature”. Because all this advice came from people who I love dearly, I decided to move on with my life not sharing with the world my entire truth. Allowing myself to be seduced by fear and insecurity became a self-fulfilling prophecy of sabotage. Today I take full responsibility for my decisions and my actions.
If someone asked me today, “Ricky, what are you afraid of?” I would answer “the blood that runs through the streets of countries at war…child slavery, terrorism…the cynicism of some people in positions of power, the misinterpretation of faith.” But fear of my truth? What will happen from now on? It doesn’t matter. I can only focus on what’s happening to me in this moment. The word “happiness” takes on a new meaning for me as of today. It has been a very intense process. Every word that I write in this letter is born out of love, acceptance, detachment and real contentment. Writing this is a solid step towards my inner peace and vital part of my evolution.
