Happiness is a Choice
Portia de Rossi knew her "quiet life" was over when she fell for Ellen DeGeneres. Now, with a new book and a passionate taste for politics, she’s ready to step forward as the first lady of our fight for marriage equality.
She has that least likely of all Hollywood endings — a marriage everyone believes is the real deal. "It’s one thing to have attention; it’s one thing to stand for something," she says. "But unless it’s backed up with genuine happiness, I think people can sense that it’s not worth celebrating."
Whenever anyone asks De Rossi about marriage equality — and, grateful for whatever "little tiny platform" she’s given, she hopes they will — she reveals herself to be an impeccably prepared spokeswoman, a perfectly poised first lady of advocacy. Further proof will come in March when the Human Rights Campaign will acknowledge De Rossi with its Visibility Award at a ceremony in Los Angeles.
A year and a half after their 2008 wedding, she and DeGeneres are still that almost obnoxiously adorable couple. If anything, getting married has only made them more so. Even the paparazzi seem to buy into their love story, mostly leaving the two alone. "To think that a married gay couple is considered boring and normal is fantastic," she says. "Happiness is a choice too. It’s a choice to live in a state of gratitude and to fix what makes you unhappy. Being honest with who you are, being able to go out into the world and show people that you can be successful and be happy and be in a good marriage — it’s important."
She makes another straightforward "case closed" argument for actors coming out, usual Hollywood scare tactics be damned. "People say, 'There are lots of openly gay actors.' And I’m like, who? If everybody I knew that was gay and not being open about it came out, it would make a huge difference to people coming up as young actors in Hollywood. Huge. To producers, to people in casting. I’m sure that when I was with Ellen a lot of people wondered if I could play a straight role convincingly. By having the opportunity, other people can go, 'Oh, that’s OK. It didn’t kill that show. That was believable.'"
In comparison to her wife, at least, "I haven’t said 'I’m gay' that often," she says. Maybe that was true back when the idea of Portia as the femme fatale still cast such a long shadow over her public life.
This is what she has to say now: "Being on Oprah was a very surreal moment — to go from being so closeted and so afraid to talk about my sexuality to sitting with my wife, talking about my wedding and how much I love her. To look out at that audience and see most of the audience crying — Oprah was crying! Life can take so many twists and turns. You can’t ever count yourself out. Even if you’re really afraid at some point, you can’t think that there’s no room for you to grow and do something good with your life."

Great that he's straight or that he's helping gay youth?
trust me, you know me, my picture might even be on the blog some where

Also GB did not post during the time SC had that rehearsal the other day, or many other times Jake is sighted at a specific place/time. He also made a remark about a gay actor who wants to stay in the closet that the actor "couldn't imagine walking down the street holding his boyfriend's hand." (which we all know Jake did)

Here are two links to a picture in that same People issue I was talking about. This one is kind of interesting so those of you who aren't snowbound might want to swing by Borders or Walgreens this weekend and check this one out in a more up close manner.
Towards the front is a picture of Maggie & Peter at a party posted as being on Feb 15. Jake to her right.
Jake sitting awfully close to the arm of a man's suit. But this person is cropped out of the picture. Thanks to Special for her help with putting the pictures in a format where we can all see them without having to stand at a checkout counter.

Who is the man with Jake - guy from the car? Where can we see the original picture, before the cropping?
Who is the man with Jake - guy from the car?
I don't think so, this guy seems bigger.
I don't think the person is someone "important" in Jake's life. If he was, they would've moved away when the picture was taken. Jake didn't lean away by much. He wouldn't trust the photographer.
Is Jake's hand on the guy's shoulder?
True. he obviously wasn't concerned. I bet they were out with a groupof people that night and the person that was cropped out was a civilian that couldn't be ID'd. I was thinking it could be their Dad but I don't think he would be cropped out.
Also hi friend in the car, that was taken the same night and it looked like he wasn't too thrilled with the paps. He isn't the guty in the Peoplepic but i bet he was in that group.
How come IHJ didn't post that picture?
The photo is deceptive, at first it looks like Jake has his arm arounnd his shoulder, but if you look again, you see the guy's shoulder and it doesn't look like it's around his shoulder but on the back of the seat they are sitting at.
IHJ didn't post that pic because it looks like a fan pic not a pap pic, paps aren't allowed to wander into establishments like that and bother celebs unless they are invited in, which I doubt Maggie and Peter did.
E-mail Stephanie and ask her.
E-mail Stephanie and ask her.
What would be the point? I don't think Stephanie would be willing to share her secrets with me :)
IHJ didn't post that pic because it looks like a fan pic not a pap pic, paps aren't allowed to wander into establishments like that and bother celebs unless they are invited in
And that "fan" sold the picture to the People magazine?! BTW, IHJ posts fan pictures all the time.
I don't think the person is someone "important" in Jake's life.
I bet they were out with a groupof people that night and the person that was cropped out was a civilian that couldn't be ID'
Agree. Plus, it wouldn't matter if the civilian could be ID'd or not, they'd still be cropped out - Maggie with Peter and Jake are the subject of the pic. People readers don't care about non-celebs.
People readers don't care about non-celebs.

Uh oh. Someone on the Serious Jake thread at DC posted a link to the Digital Spy site that picked up the People "best mood ever!" article about Reese and Toth.
The mods should be swooping in any time now with a reminder that they're OT. LOL.
Well, chin's publicity crap IS very OT for the Serious Jake thread.
Yes they sold it to people, if People wasn't interested they would peddle it to Us, Ok or some other rag.
Yes, IHJ posts fan pics but not all the time and obviously not this one because they never saw it.
If it was a pap pic, Stephanie would have come across it and eventually post it. I'm sure now hat someone will forward the scan to her.
PS: All the fan pics that are posted on IHJ were found elsewhere on the net, blogs, etc. This one never showed up on anyones blog which means that the fan sent it directly to People or someone who works there took the pic and Maggie and Peter were ok with it.
Yes they sold it to people, if People wasn't interested they would peddle it to Us, Ok or some other rag.
We don't know who took the picture.
speaking of People, don't you think it's odd that they deleted that article about Reese yesterday? Yes, it was picked up and posted elsewehre, but it seems like they didn't want to be teh "source" for it even though a slightly different version appears in their print edition (not the front page, but buried on pg. 21).
11:23 maybe Jake's PR called and threw a fit since it seems alot of people read it as the 5 things Jake is not rather than the 5 things Toth is.
Did you guys see the title of the article on pg 21?
It said "Jake Who?"
How rude is that.
Well, chin's publicity crap IS very OT for the Serious Jake thread.
Oh, ITA. But a couple of posters have already responded with how sad the article made them and I'm amused because you just know it's driving the babblers crazy to see that Reese is not the angel they wanted her to be and Jake was not very bright to get involved in that whole mess.
True. he obviously wasn't concerned. I bet they were out with a groupof people that night and the person that was cropped out was a civilian that couldn't be ID'd.
ITA. It looks like there are more people with them (five glasses in the pic), they seem to be crammed in a relatively small space (corner) so I’d say it’s a large table. Maggie is leaning into Peter in the pic but in normal position she’d be shoulder to shoulder with Jake which is a pretty tight squeeze. I agree with 10:45 AM, Jake has his arm draped over the seat, not the guy’s shoulder.
It said "Jake Who?" How rude is that.
Rude and stupid after years of selling Jake as the perfect "boyfriend" and Reeke as the perfect and serious "couple". But we all know that tabloids and chin's PR don't have a problem with insulting people's intelligence.
Fake story, Jake was in Montreal yesterday:
:-o Jake, Cake Fake? :D
I think it is likely that the pictures at that Crazy Heart event were taken by someone associated with it. That is why they are so relaxed, and why Jake is not concerned about practically sitting on top of a guy--quite likely Austin, the fingers are similar. Jake knew that the pictures wouldn't be used, or would be cropped before they were.
In tone they remind me of the pictures of Austin taken at that Fashion Week party a year or two back, that were taken and used by the DJ at the event.
Why would Jake be crammed up against some "random" guy instead of his sister. That makes no sense. There is something very couple-like in Jake's posture.
speaking of People, don't you think it's odd that they deleted that article about Reese yesterday? Yes, it was picked up and posted elsewehre, but it seems like they didn't want to be teh "source" for it even though a slightly different version appears in their print edition (not the front page, but buried on pg. 21).
Did you guys see the title of the article on pg 21?
It said "Jake Who?"
Yeah, I do think it's weird. But how different is slightly different and is the "slightly different" print edition version the same as the "Jake Who" article? Can someone post the whole article, please.
speaking of People, don't you think it's odd that they deleted that article about Reese yesterday?
That is strange. People magazine web site is sloppy, but deleting an article is very sloppy editing.

People magazine, March 8
JAKE WHO? SHE'S MOVING ON...REESE LOVES THE SINGLE LIFE!
...
It's been about three months since her split from Jake Gyllenhaal, 29, and Reese W. isn't looking back. The actress, 33, has moved right along in the romance department, quietly seeing Hollywood agent Jim Toth, 39, of the powerful Creative Artists Agency, where W. is a client. "It's not exclusive," says a source close to the actress. But that doesn't seem to bother her. "She seems genuinely happy with her life and excited about the future--whatever it holds."
...
'has had her fair share of romance woes but seems to now know just what she wants. "She's not looking to get married. She's over that because she's been there and isn't thinking about having more kids," says the source. Meanwhile, the mother of two has been declaring to friends that "she is single," claims another source. "Reese genuinely seems content with life right now," says the source. W is certain things will fall into place. says the pal, "She's open to dating and finding love, and she doesn't seem regretful at all."
Thanks, 11:54, I was just putting that up.
I think it's worth it to store this back in the mental file somewhere. Reese is "jumping" right back into the pool awfully quick.
Why? To prepare for something? It's like she's setting herself up to be attached & in the best mood ever. Why?
Why wouldn't she just be happy to be Gloria Gaynor for awhile? Why the need to be re-attached so soon?
I sniff something in the air.
Why would Jake be crammed up against some "random" guy instead of his sister.
Jake wouldn't sit so close to some "random" guy, at least not in the public place ;)
^^^Thanks, 11:54. Definitely more than a few cheap shots at Jake there, but from what I can see it's a lot different than the "manly" online article that was deleted. The "Jake Who" headline is really nasty, beyond the usual PR crap, imo. But this article doesn't have laundry list of the ways that Jake doesn't measure up to Toth the way the deleted article did.
I'm glad someone put up that other People blurb as well; interesting to compare.
If Jake & Reese are managed by the same PR company, why would one dept. diss the client of another? Why would they let one client keep heaping it on like that?
Jake Who. Man. There's your thanks right there. Right under the guillatine.
And I'm not saying Jake is blameless at all. Heaven knows he hacked me off plenty of times during the whole thing.
But still. Ouch.
I'm sure Jake and the chin don't share PR teams.
No, I know that. But the same firm, right? You wouldn't think even the departments would backbite at each other.
Maybe I'm thinking too much in my usual manufacturing world mode. Maybe PR companies operate differently.
But the same firm, right?
Maybe, but not likely - CAA and 360 aren't PR agencies. Anyway, I think Reese's attempts to make herself look better by trashing Jake are a big deal only to Jake fans.
P.S. ... a big deal only to Jake fans and PR. Maybe Jake's PR asked People magazine to take down that article from the web site?
adrienne710: I'm trying to decide between marrying Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Seacrest, and Marcus Flutie. It keeps me occupied.
Reese just wanted to be attached to someone once Ryan and Abbie split. Jake is no longer in the picture and Toth is convienent.
IMO the online story made it sound like they were seriously dating, the print sounds more like they are casualyy dating and are not exclusully dating each other and not serioes so that it can end very quickly.
Reese just wanted to be attached to someone once Ryan and Abbie split. Jake is no longer in the picture and Toth is convienent.
If that's all it is, there would be no need for the "Jake Who" headline and no need in the online story to point out how "manly" Toth is (in obvious comparison to Jake). It's all way over the top and transparent as PR bullshit - but there are apparently still a lot of naive people out there who buy it.
What are you saying, 1:17 PM? That Reese isn't just selling "I'm so happy and so over Jake" bullshit, that she's trashing him, too?
I think there could possibly be something more to it. I'm not saying definitely but it's a possiblity that Reese is preparing or situating herself in a certain way in case a "big mess" is somewhere in the future.
Just putting it out there for future reference.
There just could be a bit more to it than just her usual way of trashing ex-s as tr has explained very well.
What are you saying, 1:17 PM? That Reese isn't just selling "I'm so happy and so over Jake" bullshit, that she's trashing him, too?
Yep, it's obvious to me that she's trashing him in addition to trying to make herself look good with the "best mood ever" and all that bullshit. She started trashing him immediately after the break-up with the stuff about not understanding what's involved in being a step-parent, blah, blah. And now she's continuing - even stepping it up a bit. Why, I don't know. It actually doesn't even seem like a smart move to me. But, of course, I don't think the way she and her PR do, lol (and thank god).
Why, I don't know.
1. Jake ended the showmance when that was convenient to him.
2. Jake didn't say anything about his "wonderful girlfriend" during Brothers promotion.
3. Reese is a spiteful bitch.
Jake in People 2

Yes, they are and she does.

^^Hathaway's Love and Other Drugs performance, in short, sounds like the first strong contender for a 2010 Best Actress Oscar.
:D
I'm not saying definitely but it's a possiblity that Reese is preparing or situating herself in a certain way in case a "big mess" is somewhere in the future.
Reese knows that a "big mess" isn't an imminent PR danger, I think this is about her "moving on" PR fiction.
To hear it from a trusted research-screening informant, Anne Hathaway's performance as Jake Gyllenhaal's Parkinson's-afflicted love interest in Ed Zwick's Love and Other Drugs is "wonderful, really wonderful...she knocks it out of the park." Plus their love affair, he says, is portrayed in strongly compelling terms. Resulting, he reports, in a significant manifestation of deep-down feeling plus some heavy love scenes with ample nudity. In short, a deep-drill thing -- push it, turn it up, go for it. Right away you can feel the expectation.
My concern here is with Zwick, a problem director who has always emotionally overplays this or that aspect of his films. But my informant, who saw the film last week at Pasadena's Pacific Paseo, is, in my judgment, a sharp and reliable observer with taste. And -- hello? -- everyone knows the meaning of a recently Oscar-nominated actress (as Hathaway was for Rachel Getting Married) returning with another powerhouse performance that involves coping with a delibilitating disease.
Hathaway's Love and Other Drugs performance, in short, sounds like the first strong contender for a 2010 Best Actress Oscar.
I don't know when 20th Century Fox is releasing Love and Other Drugs, but I know it was shooting as recently as last November in the Pittsburgh area. The fact that it's already being research-screened seems to indicate some kind of fast-track thinking. I would guess a fall release, perhaps beginning with Toronto/Telluride, but who knows? I wrote a couple of Fox guys about this but I guess they don't work on weekends.
Set in the mid '90s, the drama-with-comic-flavorings (as opposed to a full-out dramedy) is partly based on James Reidy's "Hard Sell: Evolution of a Viagra Salesman." The IMDB says the script was co-written by Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz and Charles Randolph.
Gyllenhaal plays Reidy, a Jerry Maguire-ish pharmaceutical salesman on the make. Hathaway's character, Maggie Murdock, is coping with first-stage Parkinson's disease, and...why am I trying to be the authority here when I haven't seen it? Here's how my source put it -- his descriptions are ragged and unfocused at times but I don't have the knowledge to sharpen or hone.
"It's pretty ambitious story about the mid '90s Viagra boom and selling pharmaceuticals for Phizer. Hathaway, Hank Azaria. Oliver Platt plays Gyllenhaal's mentor, and it's probably the best role he's ever had, and perhaps his best performance. He teaches Gyllenhaal the ropes, and he has a really great speech toward the end. The story line, which is basically about Gylenhaal becoming a pharma salesman, is fairly complex. George Segal and Jill Clayburgh play his parents. Josh Gad is the fat younger brother -- the Jonah Hill character.
"Gyllenhaal and Hathaway's love affair is the main thing. Hathaway's Maggie is coping with stage one of Parkinson's -- a very intense and interesting charatcer, well versed in her sickness. And Jake is trying to sell Viagra, and they meet and are attracted and end up having an affair.
"The script take pains to paint the Gyllenhaal character a rake, a ladies' man. Zwick doesn't do that good a job in some respects. There's a lot of bullshit Eloi humor and basically shitty schtick. Mostly about the younger brother being a fat-ass. There's some lame orgy in the middle of it with Jakes accidentally overdosing on Viagra...girls at a aprty make him swallow too much of it, and he won't go down...priapism, a medical situation.
"The most exciting part of the film is their relationship. A lot of nudity, a lot of really well done lovemaking stuff, and some of it that isn't so good. It's hard to explain. But Hathaway really knocks it out of the park...she's amazing, wonderful. Gyllenhaal is not as impressive, in my view. He's good in this but he can be a cypher. He's got a pretty narrow range. His character is a really smart guy with no drive...he could have been a doctor but he didn't do it. He's a good salesman but also a ladies' man. But Hathaway dominates.
"So the relationship part is good, the pharmacetical stuff is good. And like I said, Platt has a great speech at the end.
"Hathaway is so great she's almost in a different movie. They movie spends some time on the Parkinson's effects. She and Jake go to a big drug fair, and there's an alternative convention across the street focusing on organic Parkinson's remedies, and she goes over to this event. We see some real Parkinson's people talking up their personal stuff the way the unemployed talked for Up In The Air. At one point she's shown taking senior citizens across the border to get cheaper drugs in Canada.
"Hathaway is a hard case, in a sense. She doesn't want a real love affair with anone because she knows it's not going to last because she's fucked. The symptoms of Stage one Parksinson's are intermittent jitters and losing physical ability, hands shaking...she's in that stage, taking drugs. But you're feeling all through it that this is a must-happen relationship.
"The core of the romance is Jake's overcoming his shallow relationship history, and Anne overcoming her emotionally aloof thing. And she's really wonderful, absolutely wonderful."
There's also an IMDB guy who claimed on 2.18 that he attended the same Pacific Paseo screening. The location and date seem to align so here's what he said:
"I don't know what I was expecting, maybe just another idiotic rom-com, but this movie is original, funny, unbelievably sexy, and really moving. And it's about something.
"I have to admit I've never been much of a Jake Gyllenhaal fan, but as a slick Viagra salesman he's not only charming and witty, he's also got this new warm, strong and quiet leading-man thing going.
"Anne Hathaway burns up the screen, and not just because she's naked half the time. Even when she's dressed you simply can't take your eyes off her. I thought she was good in Rachel Getting Married, but in this one -- as a free-spirit arty girl with early-onset Parkinson's -- she's very funny and really hard-core. My guess is another nomination will be coming her way.
"What else...? Josh Gad, who I recognized as one of the correspondents on The Daily Show, is the potty-mouthed younger brother. Sometimes it feels like he's a refugee from a Judd Apatow movie, but he's also sweet and innocent. Oliver Platt, who's always good, is in it, too. And Judy Greer has got some funny stuff but she seems underused (like maybe they cut part of her story?)
"I'm the big know-it-all who always predicts what's going to happen next in a movie, but this time I was always surprised. One minute I was laughing hysterically and the next I found myself wiping tears away. Some people will compare it to ,em>Jerry Maguire, which I think is a truly great movie. But this one has real depth to it. I'm not sure I've ever seen a comedy show a relationship with this kind of intimacy and authenticity. I don't know how else to say it -- I really believed these two people were in love."

2. Jake didn't say anything about his "wonderful girlfriend" during Brothers promotion.
3. Reese is a spiteful bitch.
LOL. Well, yeah, I guess we do know. I'm sure the list is a lot longer, too. Things were probably really bad for awhile if you take those yogurt trip pics into consideration. I also think her PR thought three months was a respectable amount of time before they hooked her up with a new guy - if they did it sooner it might give the impression she had a guy waiting in the wings and that doesn't jive with her "wholesome" image. She has to look desirable, yet pure, lol.

^^This is such a nice picture of them at HE. I have to admit I was a bit miffed at Jake for literally ignoring Anne during promo of previous movie. So looking forward to promo of LAOD.
Interesting that all the praise is heaped on Anne with Jake just happening to be in the same movie. Boy needs to get serious.
I'm a fan of Jake, but I will be honest, even though he is solid as an actor, he's not great. He is Clooney like, if the movie is good and the role really fits he can be really good though (see DD, BBM).
There's some lame orgy in the middle of it with Jakes accidentally overdosing on Viagra...girls at a aprty make him swallow too much of it, and he won't go down...priapism, a medical situation
Wow! :)
He is Clooney like, if the movie is good and the role really fits he can be really good though (see DD, BBM)"
Don't sell Clooney short. He may not have the range of a Depp or Daniel Day-Lewis but what he can do, he does VERY VERY well. Plus, unlike Jake, Clooney doesn't get overshadowed by his talented co-stars. Vera F. and Anna K are TERRIFIC in Up in the Air--really solid--but George is so solid and so charismatic and confident on screen, they don't quite steal the film from him (but sadly if Jake was in the role, they would effortlessly). Jake needs to unleash his charisma and confidence on the screen ala GC and the late Heath.
He's good in this but he can be a cypher."
Sigh. He always is a cipher. That's disappointing to read. I think the problem is that he's really a character actor in a young leading man's body. He needs to take more interesting, maybe not so much leading men role--like a villain (he'd be FANTASTIC) or someone edgier. I think that's one of the reasons why he scored so well as Jack Twist, who wasn't exactly a hero (but not a villain either).
Set in the mid '90s, the drama-with-comic-flavorings (as opposed to a full-out dramedy)
Thank God, they didn't turn the book into a romantic comedy.
He's good in this but he can be a cypher.
Sigh. He always is a cipher.
Not true. I don't see how Jake could be a cypher when "story line, which is basically about Gylenhaal becoming a pharma salesman, is fairly complex" and "Gyllenhaal and Hathaway's love affair is the main thing".

For what it's worth I'm hearing/understanding that she brings a greater energy field to the film than Gyllenhaal." (from Jeffrey Wells)
Good for Anne.
Good for Anne.
And for Jake, LAOD seems to be a really good movie.
3:04, Jeffrey Wells' informant said Jake was good but Hathaway overshadows him and that Jake can be a cipher and has narrow range. Also, did you read that Wells said on top--how he doesn't bring as much energy to the film as Anne (whose character is doomed basically because of the disease)?
Good for Anne.
Anne is a true leading lady and has acting chops. Hats off!

Anne being better than Jake doesn't mean that Jake's acting in LAOD is bad or that he's really a cipher in LAOD or other movies - it's one person's opinion.

What in the heck is Jake at? And why is he in a dress shirt and tie, and clutching what looks like a laptop?
^^Maybe he thinks he's a business man now?

I think that's one of the reasons why he scored so well as Jack Twist, who wasn't exactly a hero (but not a villain either).
I agree that he was terrific as Jack Twist - his best performance, imo.
But, Jesus, don't say Jack Twist wasn't a hero in front of babblers, lol. They'll go ballistic.
Oh wait, maybe he's clutching the edge of table, and people are just mashed in looking because of how the picture was shot. Can't tell if that burly, guard-like guy is with him. Maybe this was taken at Katz's, which is not to far from Economy Candy.
So, I guess the sighting in MV was wrong. Too bad for Jake that Maggie headed back to LA on Friday. ;)

No tweets about Maggie today.
So, I guess the sighting in MV was wrong.
Why?
I guess we're getting Jake on GQ for PoP.
Most likely. I'm quite embarrassed for Jake for doing PoP. I hope I'm wrong about the movie being an embarrassement.
3:46 pm--I have a feeling it's going to be a BIG embarrassment. I don't know what Jake was thinking. If he wanted to do this kind of film, he should have done "Avatar."
Marie Osmond's teenage son just committed suicide. I wonder if he was gay?
Travelling to Martha's Vineyard from Quonset, Rhode Island: 1 hour and 30 minutes

He wasn't a hero--he was a deeply flawed human being (just like Ennis) but very sympathetic in his flaws. Jack is definitely Jake's signature role and performance. And he showed REAL range in the part--people forget that. Maybe it was because he was dealing with a great director (Ang is better than Zwick), a great co-star with whom he had great chemistry (I think Jake has had the best onscreen chemistry with Heath--followed by Jake and jennifer aniston) and a WONDERFUL screenplay. Maybe Ang and Heath forced it out of him but Jake really hasn't surpassed himself in his subsequent roles.

It's great she had the opportunity to play opposite Johnny Depp. She praised him a lot in a recent interview.
Oddly enough Jake and Anne had great chemistry on BBM as well."
They worked well together but they really didn't--but then they weren't supposed to--Jake was supposed to have GREAT chemistry with Heath, which he did.
His best chemistry with a woman onscreen has been with Aniston.
I still think he had great chemistry with Anne in BBM, not like with Heath obviously, but still. Just my opinion of course.
As for Aniston, they had solid chemistry, but I think his chemistry with her in the movie is overrated.
will someone clue me in on why Jake would be in Martha's Vineyard? Does he have family there? Friends? A home?
As for Aniston, they had solid chemistry, but I think his chemistry with her in the movie is overrated."
I disagree. They're hot together and if Jake was straight, I'd root for them to be together. He even had steamy chemistry with her when he presented that GLAAD award to her a few years ago.
Jake's childhood friend lives in Martha's Vineyard.
I disagree. They're hot together and if Jake was straight, I'd root for them to be together. He even had steamy chemistry with her when he presented that GLAAD award to her a few years ago.
We have to agree to disagree.
If Jake were straight, he and Anne would be great imo. Jen is old and her face looks botoxed, yuck. (Sorry fans)
Jake's friend Chris lives there, and Jake's parents owned a house there before the put it up for sale when they got divorced.
We know Jake was working in Montreal on Thursday, and today in NYC, why would he go to the trouble of traveling to MV for what was presumably less than 24 hours? I guess its possible GQ took pictures of him there, but other than that, it doesn't make sense.
And gee, look at all the people talking about Jake's chemistry on the heels of the People photos. Trying to distract again from the topic of Austin, just like clockwork.
I'm not a fan of Aniston's but I think you're hitting below the belt. I also think he has great chemistry with Aniston--even off the screen.
But of course, the chemistry he has with Anne IS SO INCREDIBLY SMOLDERING AND FANTASTIC NO ONE HAS CHEMISTRY LIKE THEY HAVE__NO ONE ONE NONE ONE --(except maybe in small letters, Jake and Heath).
Please. Are you Jake's PR person or do you work for the film?
I’m with 3:54 on Jake and Anne's chemistry. That scene in Lureen’s car always struck me as kind of clunky. I also agree that Jake's best onscreen chemistry was with Aniston, Heath aside of course.
Thanks 4:00 & 4:05 for the Martha's Vineyard info!
That should be chemistry with women. I guess some people would rather see him miserable and bearding than out and about and happy with Austin.
I didn't notice they had chemistry in BBM I was so focused on him and Heath.
^^^LOL that's funny. You know as well as I that topics jump all over the place here. The chemistry topic came up because of the viewer reviews on HollywoodElsewhere. Don't be so paranoid.
4:05 I think the talk of Jake's chemistry is in relation to his craft and not his personal life. Right folks? you're talking about on screen chemistry?
Please. Are you Jake's PR person or do you work for the film?
Oh please. I just happen to be a fan of both actors. Jake and Anne. That's all. Jeez!
We know Jake was working in Montreal on Thursday, and today in NYC, why would he go to the trouble of traveling to MV for what was presumably less than 24 hours?
Why wouldn't he? Visiting someone you love is good for your soul.
It's not just about movies, as evidenced by the comment about "if Jake were straight....." And those reviews of Anne in LAOD have been posted before.
That should be chemistry with women. I guess some people would rather see him miserable and bearding than out and about and happy with Austin.
No. I'm actually still waiting for new pictures of them.
I see the Chris shippers are here too. Weee, it's a "anybody but Austin" party.
And those reviews of Anne in LAOD have been posted before.
Not the first one.

Well said and ITA. But there are people who really do see JT as an actual hero and think the only flaw the character had was loving Ennis too much.
I think LAOD sounds promising.
I see the Chris shippers are here too.
Where? Someone suggested that Jake and Chris are a couple?
But of course, the chemistry he has with Anne IS SO INCREDIBLY SMOLDERING AND FANTASTIC NO ONE HAS CHEMISTRY LIKE THEY HAVE__NO ONE ONE NONE ONE --(except maybe in small letters, Jake and Heath).
LOL!
I doubt it's Jake's PR person, just an annoying Jake/Anne shipper.
Jake's friend Chris is just ok looking. Austin is the shit! :-)
I doubt it's Jake's PR person, just an annoying Jake/Anne shipper.
I'm not a shipper. I already mentioned that I'm a fan of both actors.
End of topic for me!
It's always anyone but Austin. Well, those people who think that are going to be in for as much of a shock and meltdown as the babblers if Jake and Austin ever do come out. I want to see that as much as I want to see the babblers' heads explode.
Oh, for Christ's sake, no one was shipping Jake with Anne or with Chris - it was a discussion about on-screen chemistry and didn't have anything to do with the People photo. Lighten up.
4:21 PM, oh shut up already with your "anyone but Austin" crap. We’re not allowed to discuss Jake’s chemistry with other people, be it in real life or onscreen now?
It's always anyone but Austin.
People magazine photo, from February 15 - that was Monday, Austin was on the East Coast filming OTH.
Jake in MV and NYC tweets - Austin is in LA.
Not our fault.
Rule #1: slobber all over talking about Austin and his outstanding sex appeal and his infinite Real Life chemistry with Jake and how they're the Real Deal THEN maybe just maybe you can discuss Jake's chemistry with other actors onscreen and maybe just maybe if you grovel and throw yourself at Austin's glorious feet and pronounce endlessly how he and Jake are True Loves in Real Life then and only then you might be able to theorize who Jake would be good with if he was straight.
Rule # 2, get mad when someone points out what you're doing by talking about Anne, Jen, Heath and Chris, and point out that it was IMPOSSIBLE that Jake and Austin were together.
By the way, Feb. 15th was a holiday and Sophia was in New York, no Austin in sight, so unless you have photos, I don't think they were filming OTH that day.
And Austin is not in that many scenes in an episode, no need for him to be on the set 24/7.
4:22 and 4:25 sounds like Jack/Chica
P.S. If Austin had still been in NYC, I'm sure he would have been seen with Sophia on Monday.
No, his work was done in NYC, not needed in NC, so I think he headed to LA for a couple of days to spend time with Jake before he had to head to Montreal.
On Tuesday, February 16, Jake arrived at the airport in Montreal.
4:38 PM, fuck off! I'm neither a troll nor a babbler, I'm just tired of paranoid bs. Jackie can correct me on this, but as I understand WFT2 is a Jake/TT blog first and foremost and any talk about him and the people in his life, costars included goes. Don’t go telling posters what they can and can’t discuss.
Godot should be renamed JAB. Just Austin Blog. Oh and 4:21 this a Jake/Toothy blog. We can and will discuss anyone with Jake. Another thing: no one likes to be told what to talk about and have a topic jammed down their throats. If you want people to hate Austin, you're doing a damn good job of it.
anyone know where Austin was Feb 16th?
4:51 ITA.
4:22 and 4:25 sounds like Jack/Chica
LOL. I'm 4:22. Don't know who 4:25 is. And I also don't know who Jack/Chica is supposed to be. This is hilarious. Have you never heard of the concept of a conversation - where various subject matters naturally evolve? If you want to go back to discussing the People photo, go right ahead. No one is stopping you. I do think Jake looked very comfortable, relaxed and cozy with the guy next to him, but since I can't see his face I'm not sure what else there is to say.
Ted didn't have a Bitch Back today. That bitch!
I thought the lack of jake/austin pictures was due to reeke. But if none surface after reeke it could be that boat has sailed. these things do happen. :-(
It's always anyone but Austin.
Right now there is no reason to discuss Austin. It is very unlikely that Austin was in LA on Feb 15 and there is no reason to believe Austin is in NYC this weekend.
5:00 LOL!!
Sailed or sunk?!
5:02 both.
IMO Jake and Austin are married. Why? Because they're always in different states at different times, they never see each other and are out having fun with other people.
^^lol
If the naysayers want to eradicate gay sex then they need to make gay marriage legal. Because once you say "I do" - you don't.
5:07 that is hilarious!
I'm not bringing the "A" talk over here because it has always been apparent to me since I started blogging on OMG that it's not tolerated here. At best, my comments are tolerated and now I've had one deleted so I guess I see now where I stand here.
But telling people to f-off and trashtalking OMG and its individual commenters is about as low as I've seen it get. This is your guys' blog and no, I'm not going to come & try to steer a convo. But gee whiz, why does it always have to get rude & nasty?
I'm just saddened, disappointed and disgusted, kind of all in one. I thought wft2'ers and OMGers were at least somewhat allies/friends.
Apparently not.
Before it was even a topic I remember my grandfather about 20 years ago (he's died since) saying that he believed gays should be able to get married and be miserable like everyone else. He said why should they be free to leave and not be trapped?!
Your grandfather was a wise man.
Does anyone know what that Economy Candy in NYC is like? Do people just sit around at small tables and eat candy?!
5:19 I think he was trapped, lol.
prairie girl, go back and read the posts. Things were going along smoothly until 4:05 got paranoid and thought people were purposely trying to "distract" from the topic of Austin when a simple conversation was taking place. There's such a thing as being overly sensitive and defensive and that's what happened here. There was an article about LAOD so that's where the conversation went, simple as that. No anti-Austin conspiracy.
I'm not bringing the "A" talk over here because it has always been apparent to me since I started blogging on OMG that it's not tolerated here.
Sorry Prairiegirl, but that's not fair, we have discussed Jake and Austin thousand times.
prairiegirl, we were fine until that smart ass poster made a few comments here criticizing the natural flow of conversation that was going on. They started it and we defended our position; if it takes a few swear words to get them to knock it off then so be it. If you have a bone to pick, jump on them.
By the way I don't see you admonishing the comment they left on Godot about us; why did you post only here about it? You criticized us for defending ourselves against that snot but you don't say one word to them on Godot about the comment they left there denigrating us? Tell me, why is it okay for you to come here and make a remark about us defending ourselves but you let their rude out-of-line comment on Godot slide?
Like another poster here said, it was a natural flow of conversation. IMO Austin isn't discussed here simply because he gets talked out over at Godot; there's no need to repeat the same things here when he basically has his own venue, just like how not too many others discussed here get brought up at Godot.

It was a natural flow of conversation, I will agree with that. I am not arguing that at all - I am in agreement with you.
But then as it frequently happens, some start poking fun at individual OMG regulars or the fact that what few of us OMG regulars are left do believe they are still together, get accused of being fangirls, delusional, fiction spinners, etc.
And while that individual name calling out is left up and Special's name has been dragged through the mud several times, I mention a simple statement like "Sienna was never a regular. She was a fence sitter" and it gets deleted.
Why is that? At first I thought it was out of fairness; that no name calling-out would be tolerated. But since then, Special, Tom, etc., myself have had our names thrown out, I was called a homophobe and all of that was left up and probably still is for all I know.
I'm asking now what was it about my comment that deserved for it to be deleted?
And now I'll see if it gets deleted again. I'm not trying to be inflaming but this seems just as good as time as any to bring this up since my view about it has changed since it first happened.
Jake smoozing in NYC.
Prairiegirl what does your "sienna deleting" and other problems in 5:49 have to do with the "never about Austin" comment topic?! You saw a chance to admonish people here so you jumped right in even though it had nothing to do with your issues?
Did you mean schmoozing?

Shouldn't you check out first and then complain?
LOL I think Jake is working this weekend.
PoP promo work already started...
And this'll be my final word because I really don't want to get into it with some of you guys. To be honest, I don't know who I'm talking to and it breaks my heart to know that probably some of you have been very, very nice to me and defended me on that day when well, you know. All that stuff. I love some of you but I don't know who's who.
I just never get a full acceptance vibe but I pop in once in awhile. I lurk all the time because I think, have always thought you guys were hilarious. But let's face it. I'm a Jaustin believer and that will always be a minority over here. So I try not to bring it.
We all can't be defending each other all the time because let's face it, we all are subject to attacks. I get attacked all the time, heck I'm not a favorite anymore of people who have posted regularly in the past on OMG. I'm seen as a bully. So I'm not even totally accepted over there by some because I try to call a spade a spade and I will get trashed by people using made up names. That's the way it goes, I guess.
But I don't want to make enemies here. I like you guys, well, those who have been graciously nice to me, whoever you are. But there are some who regularly post here who do not like OMG and they can be pretty loud, let's put it that way.
As you were. I'm not trying to stir things up. I just don't like seeing a great guy like Tom who I love like a brother, get made fun of. And I will stick up for him. To anyone.
But since then, Special, Tom, etc., myself have had our names thrown out
There is no need to repeat that those are troll posts, right?
