I agree, up to a point. Mr. Evans is mistaken about how little progress has been made for same sex rights. We've never lived in a time when same sex couples have had more rights - and can get married legally in Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire as of Jan 1, Connecticut, and Iowa, and many countries, such as Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, Canada, Spain, Belgium, and South Africa. South Africa, once under the oppression of apartheid, legalized gay marriage on November 30th, 2006. South Africa has one of the most inclusive constitutions in the world, calling for equal rights for gays and lesbians. Other US states recognize civil unions, or at the very leasts are having their minds opened. We stand on the verge of much more to gain, depending on what our President does in the coming years, a President who is more gay friendly than any we've ever had. Minds are being opened all over the world.
^^Argentina and Mexico City recognize gay marriage and adoption rights as well, remarkable for predominantly Catholic countries.
Apparantely Jake doesn't realize the world has changed and has actually participated in taking the cause for equal rights back decades. Hopefully he is proud of himself and can look himself in the mirror. Money must be more important than doing the right thing for Jake. Don't ecpect anything to chage.
But really, who needs Jake? I don't understand why he's the key to same sex rights.

Not every gay man is a tormented closeted case. Maybe some guys want to have a straight public life and have hidden sex with other guys in private and they are fine with living that way. Maybe the "secret sex life" turns them on,who knows?
I can see "secret gay sex life" being a turn on when you're having fun and sleep around, but not if you have a boyfriend, someone you really care about.

It's better to take people like NPH as role model. HIMYM is a very popular show and most who watch it have no problem with him being gay. Elton John has many fans and his orientation is not an issue for most. If you are really sure about your orientation and comfortable with it, why stay in the closed because of close minded people? I think sooner rather than later homosexuality won't be such a tabu as it was and sadly still is (not to that extent though). But people like maybe Jake encourage the thinking that being homosexual somehow hinders you in life and career. That's a pov that is really not needed and throws every development back. It's a pity.
But there is still a possibility that Jake is attracted to both sexes. I know many hetero- and homosexual people don't "believe" in bisexuality, but remember people are different. It even happened to me that I was attracted to a girl. It happened once, but it still happened.
So, I won't comdemn Jake completely, because I don't know what's really up with him. Maybe he doesn't even know himself?

Why are people still trotting out Rupert quotes? He's supposedly the biggest jerk to work with, made bad career choices, and is not very talented, imo. Funny how nobody wants to talk about the positive examples, like NPH. So many people, particularly closeted gay men and their apologists, have a lot invested in keeping the status quo.
And a lot of the other actors who have been out in their careers from the beginning, lets face it, are not all that talented and/or don't have any real star appeal. For them it seems like playing gay characters gives them a career they might not otherwise have.

I think Jake is financially stuck in the closet, he grew up very well off but apparently the parents are now divorced and broke. Maggie is married with her own family and there probably is a financial responsibility Jake feels toward his mother. Unfortunately, studio heads don't think much of public tolerance, acceptance or intelligience. Its ironic that most of HW is apparently gay or bisexual but the people in charge are the most bigoted.
^^Jake's parents were never really successful in Hollywood. His mom had this one hit-script "Running On Empty". That's it. What did they do except writing and directing to keep their standard of living? I heard they were estate agents. Can't they continue doing that?
Stephen and Naomi had (at least) 2 houses, I don't believe that they were millions in debt and that they are broke.

Everyone got hit in the poor economy this past year, even the rich. The LA house sat empty for quite a while until it sold. Mortgage, insurance, gas, heat, lawn care all continued.
3.1 million does not sound like alot of money for for people who are divorcing and were in debt at the time of the divorce. I don't know what a "holiday house" goes for in California these days but certainly not what it would have gotten 3-4 years ago.

It's pretty interesting to me how since the big Reeke spilt Jake has been living such a low-key, out of the pap lens life. Before those pesky paps seemed to be just everywhere-outside gyms, outside museums, in the desert, outside every coffee shope in LA. And now, Jake's been (if the tweets are true) in NYC for his Birthday, back to LA and back to NYC for the holidays and not one pap pic and very few tweets about him. It's amazing to me how well Jake can fly under the radar when he wants. Makes all those Reeke pap sessions look even more that they were obviously arranged photo ops. It's also pretty interesting that the Chin hasn't had any holiday photo ops. Since she was doing daily photo ops before the holidays, you would have thought that she would have had many photo ops scheduled during the holidays to show how much time she was devoting to her kids now. Guess Ryan must have had the kids for the holidays and she couldn't schedule the paps.
There are rare occasions when it is hard to avoid paparazzi (like that medical building) but the rest is very much up to a celebrity.

Go to IHJ and check out the Jake/Kiki photo ops, and yes most of them were. Jake was younger and loved the attention, Kiki was even younger and didn't have kids so there were never any why isn't she with her kids comments.
The photo ops are similar and a lot of them are of them shopping. True they did more PDAZ bits, but agaiin they were young and prolly smoking pot a lot of the time.
There will be very little pap shots of Jake IMO, which is good, don't need to see pics of him.
It's also obvious he doesn't have an actual home, I think he ditched jis HH house and he just stays with friewnds and fasmily and hotels, IMO. He may have a place in Venice but i bet if't a lot smaller place then he had.

His handlers made it seem like he had a place in NY but in reality, it was his parents that had a loft in Greenich village which was sold and his sister that had a place in Tribeca and Kiki who had a place in NY and his freind Chris. That's where he was staying when he was seen there.
Now he is seen in Brooklyn because that's where Maggie, Peter, and his mom along with cousins, etc live and the east side of NY and eastern LI because he has fsmily there (fasmily in PA too). Made freinds while hanging in Tribeca/SOHO and stays with friends or hotels.

I want to give some love to my favorite gossip column. The Awful Truth over at www.eonline.com is written by wordsmith Ted Casablanca and always has the best dish and is probably the most enjoyable to read. Ted has loads of personality and a writing style that takes some getting used to, but when you finally get it, you really feel like you're really reading something juicy. And often times, you are...
Ted seems to always have the best dish that doesn't end up on TMZ or in the tabloids. There are certain things that just can't be written about our beloved celebs without these publications being seriously sued. See, Ted doesn't want to be sued either so he only ever gives just enough information to get his point across and lets you fill in the blanks. For the really dirty dish, he posts blind items, which he calls "Blind Vices," and tells the whole story in detail but doesn't use the star's real name. Still stumped about who he's referring to? Just look at the comments and his gossip-hound readers usually make very informed guesses.
Ted's scoop is almost always spot on...usually after a huge celeb scandal starts to surface Ted will reveal a blind vice he wrote weeks, months or years earlier detailing the dirt. He says recently deceased star, Brittany Murphy was a regular Blind Vice, though he's not revealing which one yet. In light of Murphy's death Ted has reached out to Blind Vice favorite, Morgan Mayhem aka Lindsay Lohan pleading for her to get her act together and it's not the first time he's done it either. He's not heartless....he loves celebs like we do and wants the best for them. Lindsay has even responded to friends and fans concerns posting on her Twitter,

This is Jake Gyllenhaal arriving at LAX yesterday. Not sure where he was. But we all have our theories.
As you know, Jakey and Reese Witherspoon are over. He did however spend some time in late December just before Christmas in New York, spotted hanging out with friends at a charity benefit. Curiously enough, Reese a few days later was also in New York. The two were never reported together.
However Reese was still in NYC on Christmas Day. Odd, non? She is devoted to her children. Her children were not with her. They were presumably back in Los Angeles with dad. Perhaps that was the arrangement this year with the ex husband? That Ava and Deacon hang with Ryan and Abbie instead? Still… my smutty senses were tingling about that.

Sure they broke up. But they broke up before too. And no one seems to be ruling out a reconciliation. There’s a mystery here. Keep you posted.

BuzzFoto – This popular celeb couple has an image problem. It being that the female REALLY cares about how she and her partner are perceived and the male couldn’t care less. The female is so obsessed about the PR side of their relationship, about looking to be secure and in love, that it is driving the male to resent her. He is starting to want out, because the harder she pulls the further he pushes away. We hear although she is super famous and beautiful, she is incredibly insecure. Her whole focus of the relationship has long ago moved away from passion and more about appearance.
Over the holidays, the male tried to do some normal activities that a family would do and the female was determined to turn it into a PR event. The two ended up in a very heated argument, and the male left and spent the night with another woman. This happens more and more frequently. The female claims she doesn’t care, as long as the male shows up when she needs him to. We fear the relationship is doomed, which will break a lot of hearts- and not just those of their fans. Us Weekly is featuring the split on its latest cover. According to Us, Jakey wanted to marry Reese but she felt pressured and they fought and then they ended it over the phone. Supposedly Reese isn’t sure if J is suited to her children. Or something. The bottom line, if you believe the magazine, is that Reese drove the separation and now Jake is heartbroken.

And no, this has nothing to do with gayness. It has everything to do however with the fact that she’s a humourless bitch. And that thing looks like he's carrying everything but the kitchen sink in there. Now that I think about it, he's always used the backpack which if he has his laptop in there, that means he's going to have to take it out of there to go through checkpoint.
So far, I've only had to take my laptop totally out once in the airports I've been in lately and I have the butterfly open case. That would be just one more thing I have to mess with when all that stuff comes tumbling out onto the belt and you have 10 other people behind you scrambling to catch their shoes, coats, etc.

9:11: LOL!! When did they "write" that? The mention gossiping on the set of LAOD, but that film wrapped a month ago, is this the same rag that started the Jake and Anne rumors? Jake has nothing to confess to Reese, she already knows.
It looks like they used "wild internet rumors" for that story including Jaxson, he may be BI or he was caught with some dude, all discussed, gossiped and speculated last year when he was filming Pop.
