Ticking Tile

October 16, 2008

Dear Ted:
Why is Toothy Tile bearding when he has a baby with his boyfriend? As much as I adore Family Tile, I think Gray Goose should take Baby Tile with him and leave Toothy. Enough is enough when manufacturing a fake image! The baby comes first and requires honesty. What do you think?

Let's pretend for a second that we have a proof Jake is bearding with Reese. Would you like him all the same?

^^ I posted this comment last night, and I do think that he is bearding with Reese, but at a different level than I think most here think. Just as some posters here share my opinions or somewhat. I believe Jake is bearding with Reese because of the pressures of HW and his career. I also think that they may be a item (sexually active) together because (I) believe Jake likes men and women. It is deffinately unfortunate in this day and time that people, including HW celeb. can't be themselves openly (GAY OR BI) but most of mainstream America and the World are HOMOPHOBIC! So, I know why he would go down this path, (FOR NOW)!! I don't claim to know anyting for a fact about Jake and the famous Laker pictures did nothing for me! I just had a gut feeling about Jake, that's it and I'm sticking with it. And it's not Wishful Thinking, ok. Now there are many HW Male celebrities that I would love to be gay and open about it, but they seem straight and I don't know enough about them.

^^ Sorry, Meant to saY I posted the comment about: before we read or heard of the Jake is gay rumors were you, we, fans? I posted it last night. Now answering the other posters question.

I'm sure Jake is gay and bearding. I know about homophobic America and Hollywood, but I do mind being lied to by Jake.

((He is actually quite good in promoting whatever he has to promote. He is so successful that people really believe what they see.

Like the story about fighting with this fellow in Jarhead, getting into arguments with his director during that time, quarreling with Sarsy, being a manly, slightly unbalanced person.

Would love to see some Chris and Jake chill out scenes, but maybe he values his privacy too much these days.))

^^ I agree with most all of your taling points!
The fight with the actor in Jarhead I always thought was more Publicity right from the start. I'm sitll one who think that Chris and Jake were more than friends if not a some point in time. They are/were VERY CLOSE!

"PoP is the wrong career move if Jake wants to be known for his acting. It's a summer popcorn movie all about the special effects. I bet earnest Jake will have people laughing where there's no comedy intended."
ITA, remember that interview they had with Jerry Bruckheimer in the summer, he said that POP would be a cross between Pirates (with the action & special effects) and Lawrence of Arabia (for drama) and in a interview with Ben Kingsley-Ben said Jack was taking the role seriously with the drama and the lines. So we'll probably get ernest Prince who is troubled, finds the girl of his dreams, has to rescue her and resolve his family issues. So yeah, I think that POP will be campy and Jake will be try to promote a serious story.

Anonymous said...

I never did see the Pirates trilogy, not because I didn't want to, just because for whatever reason I didn't have enough time, there are so many movies to see. I did see the previews and thought the creativity was wonderful in it. For PoP, I'm not expecting Lawrence of Arabia, I'm expecting a fantasy adventure, which is what I imagine Pirates was like. Enjoyable, wonderful costumes, scenery. We'll see what Jerry Bruckheimer & Co. will surprise us with. In the recent jogging pics, Jake's eyes were looking very beautiful and exotic, I thought. Can't wait to see.

Anonymous said...

I also expect POP to be big fantasy, popcorn fun, special effect, big adventure type movie. Disney and Bruckheimer are good at making movies like that. I just don't think that Jake will be good at playing the role of the over the top superhero-I think he may come off looking campy.

Anonymous said...

Well, let's hope that everything goes as expected, whatever they intend it to be - a Jack Sparrow type, or something more serious. I should rent the Pirates series - the previews for the last one I thought were incredible - special effects and makeup effects, color, cinematography. :)

Great review for "Milk": http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/film/reviews/article_display.jsp?&rid=11906

Bottom Line: Superb biopic of Harvey Milk reaches out for cross-cultural audience

"Milk," written by Dustin Lance Black and directed by Gus Van Sant, is the first great film to look at civil rights from the perspective of the gay movement. The subject, of course, is the late, charismatic San Francisco gay activist and politician of the 1970s, Harvey Milk, played with extraordinary depth and wisdom by Sean Penn. "Milk" resists bumper-sticker identifications: Yes, it's a biopic, a love story, a civil rights movie and sharp political and social commentary. But it transcends any single genre as a very human document that touches first and foremost on the need to give people hope.

The audience for this film is all over the map but probably modest -- the gay and lesbian community for sure and anyone with politics on the brain. And anyone who cares about acting too, not just for Penn but persuasive performances from a large and talented cast.

The film is superbly crafted, covering huge amounts of time, people and the zeitgeist without a moment of lapsed energy or inattention to detail. Even the opening moments -- black-and-white archival footage of cops rousting men covering their faces from gay bars of the '50s and '60s, the kind of harassment that led to the 1969 Stonewall Riots in New York -- offer a poignant reminder of what was not that long ago.

The narrative device is a tape recording Milk makes in his final and 48th year to be played in the event of his death. (He received many death threats.) Here he tells the story of his eight years in San Francisco, how he moved there with his lover, Scott Smith (James Franco), founded a camera shop that became a center for the gay community and took up activism to become the "Mayor of Castro Street."
Van Sant and Black cover a lot of distance with a simple approach: The key people in Milk's life deliver the key moments, political strategies emerge from personal convictions and emotions spring from the close relationships among the activists. Thus, the film brings in young street punk-turned-activist Cleve Jones (Emile Hirsch); Milk's surprising new lover, Jack Lira (Diego Luna); his campaign manager, Anne Kronenberg (Alison Pill); and fellow supervisor and eventual murderer Dan White (Josh Brolin).

Black's screenplay is based solely on his own original research and interviews, and it shows: The film is richly flavored with anecdotal incidents and details. "Milk" surfaces in a season filled with movies based on real lives, but this is the first one that inspires a sense of intimacy with its subjects.

This allows for unusual moments, such as a couple of phone conversations Milk has with a handicapped gay youth from the Midwest or his electrifying observation that he looked into White's haunted eyes and believes White may be "one of us."

Van Sant moves beyond his experimental filmmaking of the last half-decade for a restrained, unembellished approach. The style is classic filmmaking of the '70s, a film that watches and observes everything and everybody. He makes excellent use of archival footage throughout the period film, especially such images as the Castro district undergoing sweeping demographic changes and the awful moment of Dianne Feinstein's City Hall steps announcement of the assassinations of Mayor Moscone and Milk.

Penn is one of those actors in complete control of his entire instrument. He uses voice, body movements, line readings and something indefinable within his own psyche to transmigrate into another person's body and mind. Franco, meanwhile, demonstrates the dilemma of a person who signed up for a committed relationship but not necessarily a revolution.

Luna is loopy and sometimes, seemingly, just looped as Milk's erratic boyfriend. Brolin is surprisingly sympathetic as a man in over his head, unable to differentiate between friends and foes and clinging to traditional mores in a city caught in the ferment of radical change.

With top contributions from his entire crew, Van Sant captures in "Milk" an entire panoply of clashing passions, opinions and personalities within the gay rights movement that changed a country forever but drove a wedge between its people that remains to this day.

Obama Reiterates Position on Gay Marriage, Opposition to Prop 8

Barack Obama reiterated his opposition to Proposition 8 in an interview with MTV to be aired at 9am today on the network.

Said Obama to Sway in response to a question on the anti-gay ballot initiative: "I think it's unnecessary. believe marriage is between a man and a woman. I am not in favor of gay marriage. But when you start playing around with constitutions, just to prohibit somebody who cares about another person, it just seems to me that's not what America's about. Usually, our constitutions expand liberties, they don't contract them."

Obama has said he is in favor of civil unions and leaving marriage matters to the states to decide. Watch it, AFTER THE JUMP...

This powerful man should just be honest about who he is and stop trying to fake romances."

I'm here waiting for Toothy. Ted C is the source of Toothy Tile. Ted has made it extremely clear that Toothy's bf is Austin Nichols. Everything I've followed points to Austin. Austin has known Jake since they filmed TDAT together and they've been photographed and spotted together since then. Right after the press really started pushing Reeke in March 2007, Toothy and Austin were seen together publically for a full week. They probably thought that the Reeke buzz would kill any gay gossip but they found out that they were wrong. After that they were spotted again at Borders late at night where they evidently weren't expecting to be seen. We haven't seen them together since. The JJ rumors started after that and the National Enquirer had a full 2-page spread with Jake and Austin's photos with the whole baby tile story and Jake's supposed denial of it. My guess is that the Rome photo shoot and the heavy-duty Reeking were a response to that.

Annie Proulx no longer at home on the range

Saratoga, Wyo.

On bridge street, few shopkeepers know the name Annie Proulx. But they sure know the title of her most famous short story, "Brokeback Mountain."

"Yuck," says a wiry older woman in the Hat Creek Gift Shop, which sells cowboy tchotchkes. "Some people are just plain strange."

"I wish I'd never written it," Proulx says at her home five miles outside town, looking out enormous windows onto the river and the limestone cliffs that define her property.

Not because of the people of Saratoga, a town she doesn't think much of. Not even because the word "brokeback" has been misappropriated, as in, "Hey, you're not goin' brokeback on me, are you?" It's all the manuscripts, screenplays and letters sent to her by men who rewrite or serialize her story, adding new characters, endings and even successive generations. "These cover letters," she complains, "always begin with the sentence 'I'm not gay, but . . . ' They think that just because they are men, they understand men better than I do."

The story, says Proulx, spine straight, hands slapping her knees for emphasis, "was about homophobia in a place." So much of Proulx's hard, fine writing is about place it's a wonder more people don't try to find her. After winning the 1994 Pulitzer Prize for her novel "The Shipping News," set in Newfoundland, Proulx became a fixed star in the literary constellation, winning almost every prize a writer could win.

She has often criticized the literary establishment for knowing nothing about what goes on in America outside its cities. She hates and generally refuses interviews (especially in her home). But she has agreed to talk -- although a polite e-mail from her publicist warns that she "takes a while to warm up to people." Her ferocity is literary legend, often cushioned by the phrase "doesn't suffer fools."

^^Good for her! I think she's honest, and feisty. And one hell of a good writer, about real things. The Shipping News was incredible. ;)

ACTOR WAS JOAQUIN UNSTEADILY

FRIENDS of Joaquin Phoenix are worried about the star, who has had a very public battle with drink and drugs. The two-time Oscar nominee ("Walk the Line" and "Gladiator") showed up to a tribute to Paul Newman last week in San Francisco and "was out of it," said one attendee. Other actors were performing scenes and readings, but Phoenix just got up and walked out. "He wobbled back in a bit later, but it was odd," said our source. "He was slurring his words and was unsteady on his feet." Phoenix gave a weird interview to "Extra" in which he said he was retiring from acting. A rep for Phoenix said, "He's fine. He just wants to focus on music, and he'll be at the screening of his film 'Two Lovers' on Saturday night in LA, and he's directed a number of music videos over the past couple of years."

JAKE GYLLENHAAL HITS THE ROOF OVER LATEST GAY RUMOR

Baby claim last straw for ‘Brokeback’ star

“Brokeback Mountain” star Jake Gyllenhaal is fuming over Internet rumors that he’s gay and having a child with his male lover!

The hunky screen star – who played Heath Ledger’s homosexual lover in the controversial Oscar-winning film – says he had enough with the anonymous Web site jabs that he’s more than just buddies with actor Austin Nichols. “Jake’s been a good sport over gay rumors – up till now,” a source close to the 26-year-old star told The ENQUIRER.

He even went as far as spoofing himself when he hosted “Saturday Night Live.” He mugged for a crowd of “gay cowboys” planted in the audience and also did a dead-on impression of Jennifer Holliday singing “And I Am Telling You” dressed in drag! Jake – who’s dated “Spider-Man” beauty Kirsten Dunst and Natalie Portman of “Star Wars” – has always been the first to laugh at the Hollywood gay buzz because he’s straight, the source said.

But he stopped laughing when an Aug. 28 story on the celebrity Web site Jossip carried the headline: “Jake Gyllenhaal is gay and having a baby!” That report was picked up from an obscure Web site called IDontLikeYouInThatWay.com – which linked him to Nichols, star of the HBO series “John from Cincinnati.”

The site quoted an unnamed “former Hollywood publicist” claiming: “Jake Gyllenhaal is planning to come out some time by the end of next month…He and his boyfriend of several years, rumored to be actor Austin Nichols, are expecting a baby in September.” The site ran a photo of longtime pals Jake and Austin sitting together and laughing at a basketball game.

“Jake has been dating this guy for years, even before he broke up with Kirsten Dunst,” according to the IDontLikeYouInThatWay.com report. “Kirsten found out about his bf and confronted him at Chateau Marmont. The confrontation was loud and they broke up right there. News of their breakup followed a few days later.

“Jake and his bf are currently expecting a baby through a surrogate. They used a company based in Westwood, Calif. The baby is due in September.”

The story – which pals swear is pure fiction – incensed Jake.

“There were all kinds of rumors that Jake was gay after ‘Brokeback Mountain.’ Apparently, some people don’t realize that he was just acting,” another pal told The ENQUIRER."

Leonardo DiCaprio is crossing his fingers for a US election win by Democrat Barack Obama and said Monday he believes the rest of the world is, too.

"I think it is the true ideals and dreams of America to have an African-American president named Barack Obama to be the representation of the United States at a time like this," said DiCaprio, in Paris as co-star of Middle-East themed movie "Body of Lies."

Obama, DiCaprio went on, is "a man that has great policies, a man that is a great intellectual, who knows what he's doing. I've my fingers crossed that he will win because I think he'll make some dramatic changes in our country that we're looking for, but the rest of the world is as well."

"everybody's got their inner racist, younger people less then older."
Is this a recitation from Reverend Wright's "God damn Amerikkka" opus?

I wish the self-loathing Log Cabin types would go somewhere else. Isn't there a site that celebrates McCain, bearding and making lots of money regardless of the personal cost they can post on?

Hey, QB, it was a quote from Pravda, I mean the New York Times.

No, it wasn't a rethorical question. What would Jake's acting career look like if BBM never happened?

An indie actor like Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Bruno Takes On The Gay Marriage Haters

Sacha Baron Cohen as Bruno is done terrorizing the runways of Paris and now he's creating chaos in California for his movie with the really long time. Yesterday at a Yes on Prop 8 rally, the infamous homosexual known as Bruno joined the protesters, waving his banner like a proud queen. When the jig was up and dumb whores started to realize who this blonde flamer really was, he was quickly taken away by his production team.

Wait. The flaming troll in the green is against ze gays marrying?! I mean, you can tell that leprechaun's manpussy puckers every time he sees a big dick. Even the dude in the black shirt knows that some homo activity is about to go down between Bruno and the homo-elf.

Don't these dumb bitches have something better to do on a Sunday afternoon? I don't know... like partake in a little gay sex?

And any of you that vote NO on Prop 8, will automatically get an invitation to one of my weddings. I'm sure I'll get hitched several times in my life, so there's a seat waiting for you at one of them. I promise to put a dildo, a bong and an In-N-Out gift certificate in all my gift bags.

Ent Lawyer BI

Well costumes can be fun for everyone. This actually happened the night prior to Halloween, but costumes were still worn. Our B list actor who used to be an A list action hero was at a party with someone everyone assumed to be his girlfriend. His girlfriend is somewhat, but not overly famous, but this person was wearing a Sue Storm from Fantastic Four mask so no one could tell. Throughout the night the pair spent more and more time groping and kissing in a corner and on a couch and less time mingling. It was during one of these makeout groping sessions later in the evening that the mask slipped off the woman and it was discovered our action star was with another guy.

The part about there being many kinds of "like" is very clear - I figured that one out even when Ted first mentioned it. Dont understand why people did not get it in the first place. The second part implies the relationship with Austin is the equivalent of a marriage. They'd have to be very committed to each other to put up with all this. Still, it's a lot to ask of any partner. I do not understand how Jake can put Austin (or Chris if that's who it is) through this.
