No, not Toothy Tile

The Boys of Sizzling Summer
OMMG! (That's Oh-My-Mystery-God!, babes), we've got yet another Toothy Tile in the works, how divinely hideous, so check out our sexually outrageous Blind Vice Friday.

Heavy Betting

Oh my, who's the latest closeted Hollywood star putting Toothy Tile's daring public nooky shenanigans to shame? Any guesses on Public Thrust, darlings, our newest boy who likes to do it while everyone watches? Clues comin' up!

June 19, 2008

One PDA Pooftah Blind Vice

No, not Toothy Tile. For a change. Ever since ol’ Tooth re-recommitted to Gray Goose and they got all hideously domesticated, our double-T seems to have lost his devotion to doing it in every open space he can manage. Like WeHo parking lots and the such. I mean, so many men just have sex the same way they pee, right? Let it fly (whatever the bodily liquid) wherever ya want! Morals be damned, a man’s gotta go—or go-go—when he’s gotta, right?

Right, squeals our latest boy wonder in the annals of Hollywood homosexual clandestine coupling. Dude’s name is Public Thrust. He’s a star of considerable rising proportions, is on some huge-ass projects. Huge. P.T.’s career is certainly humming along just fine, thanks much. And isn’t it fascinating, P.T.’s peeps, who supposedly have his best interests in mind, are doing their best to steer Mr. Thrust away from any gay projects that come dancing his way (‘cause, let’s face it, the guy looks as queer as my hair), all the while Public-babe is hitting some H-town parties that don’t exactly cater to the beer-and-football type o’ guys.

More specifically? Let’s just say that while Thrust’s managers and such are doing their best to keep their star out of anything remotely Brokeback Mountain-esque, P.T.’s performing, quite impressively, I must say, at some H'wood dos where doing each other is the point of the gathering. Orgies, gay ones—in case you’re having trouble reading my totally homo cryptospeak.

You know what this means, don’t you? It’s the same with Toothy. It’s the same with married men who cheat. It’s all about getting caught, in other words. Public, just like Tooth, wants to be found out. They desire to be out. But they just can’t seem to find the guts to do it. So they let their peckers do the walking, or talking, as it were.

Congrats on your Blind Vice badge of Honor, Public! Welcome to the chubby clubby!

And it ain't: Tom Welling, John Krasinksi, David Archuleta

‘Get Smart’ finds formula for box office win

Remake of ‘60s sitcom earns $39.2M; audiences reject ‘The Love Guru’

Audiences still get Maxwell Smart.

Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway’s “Get Smart,” the Warner Bros. big screen update of the 1960s spy sitcom, raked in $39.2 million to debut as the No. 1 weekend movie, according to studio estimates Sunday. But movie-goers did not get Mike Myers’ “The Love Guru,” the weekend’s other new wide release. The Paramount Pictures comedy about a self-help mentor took in just $14 million to open at No. 4.
...
In “Get Smart,” Carell re-creates the bumbling Max Smart character created by Don Adams, with Hathaway playing the capable Agent 99 as the duo try to stop a plot to arm unstable governments with nuclear bombs. Dwayne Johnson co-stars as a superstar spy colleague.

Critics picked apart the movie for emphasizing action over the crisp verbal comedy of the TV show, but Warner Bros. figures that was a wise commercial move. While 60 percent of the audience was 25 or older, that still meant a sizable younger crowd that was more keen on the movie’s action, said Dan Fellman, the studio’s head of distribution.

The IoS pink list 2008

From businesspeople to authors, the famous (and infamous) to the unknown, these people have influenced our lives over the past 12 months

How do you define influential? In drawing up this year's celebration of Britain's gay and lesbian movers and shakers, the panel had to debate whether tea-time television or morning radio had more influence. As you'll see, the presenter of Radio 4's 'Today' programme just had the edge over the creative genius behind Dr Who's renaissance. Russell T Davies's announcement that he's handing over the reins of the show to Steven Moffat had some bearing, but we look forward to hearing what he'll do next.

The top 10 would have contained a young comedian (and something of a role model, we suspect), but he preferred not to receive the plaudit, which is a shame. Only three new Pink List nominees declined, which perhaps shows that, though the old stigma against homosexuality remains, it continues to decline.

Meanwhile, there are those who are not exactly influential, but whose presence enriches or entertains us. This year we have introduced separate sections on prominent gays and lesbians from other countries, power couples whose combined force impresses, and those young personalities who may well be promoted to the main list in years to come.

Finally, and with the help of Stonewall, we highlight people who you might not have heard of – unsung heroes who through their work promote equality and understanding. We thank all of those whom we celebrate here.

Each person has last year's position in brackets above their name

1 (49) Evan Davis; Journalist
Once described as a cross between Gollum and a needy vicar, Evan Davishas shot to become everyone's favourite BBC journalist since joiningRadio 4's 'Today' programme earlier this year. News that he was steppingdown as the BBC’s economics editor in March drew cries of dismay fromall quarters, not least fans of his 'Evanomics' blog. But his reincarnationas one of the 'Today' anchors has exposed him to a wider audienceand beefed up his reputation. Intelligent, with a less adversarial style thanJohn Humphrys, Davis is considered the perfect complement to the existing roster of heavyweights. He once told an interviewer that "it would have been a dereliction of her journalistic duty" if she hadn't asked whether it was true that he wears genital jewellery.

2 (1) Russell T Davies; TV dramatist
Davies is groaning under the laurels for his revival of 'Dr Who' – and for the seamless, subtle introduction of homosexual characters into Saturday prime-time telly he certainly should be proud of his OBE. The 45-year-old has proved he can command huge audiences with sparky, witty writing – surely the most powerful figure in British TV drama.

3 (16) Cameron Mackintosh; Impresario
Topped 'The Stage' 100, the industry list of the most powerful figures in UK theatre, for the fourth time. Producer of 'Les Mis̩rables' Рseen by more than 55 million people worldwide. Sir Cameron moved into the limelight himself on the BBC's 'I'd Do Anything', to cast the roles of Nancy and Oliver for his revival of Lionel Bart's musical.

4 (5) Ian McKellen; Actor and activist
Is there a more famous politicised gay man? When not voicing the giant bear in 'The Golden Compass', Sir Ian McKellen continued as a peerlessly influential spokesperson on sexuality in countless interviews accompanying his year-long RSC world tour of 'King Lear' and 'The Seagull'. Will doubtless continue that in 'The Prisoner' remake.

5 (88) Dawn Airey; Television executive
Airey, 46, shocked the TV world this year when she quit as head of global content at ITV after seven months. 'Scary Airey', as she has been dubbed, is to join European broadcaster RTL, becoming chairman and CEO of Channel Five, a position she first held eight years ago. She has a daughter with partner Jacquie Lawrence, who is a film-maker.

6 (3) Elton John; Musician
Sixty-one he may be, but the world's most famous gay man shows no signs of slowing down: Sir Elton's Las Vegas extravaganza, the Red Piano show, comes to the UK soon, and he and partner David Furnish campaign and donate tirelessly via the Elton John Aids Foundation. But the $2.5m he raised for Hillary Clinton's campaign came to nought...

7 (12) Michael Bishop; Chairman, BMI
The former baggage-handler has turned BMI into the second-biggest full-service airline after BA. Sir Michael prefers, in interviews, to talk about his business rather than his personal life – but it can only be good for modernising the City to have a high-profile, openly gay man. Times aren't easy, though; BMI's pre-tax profits nearly halved to £15.5m in 2007.

8 (10) Alan Bennett; Playwright and author
Leeds-born national treasure who moves effortlessly from memoir to plays, monologues, historical dramas and screenplays. Reticent in person, expansive in diaries. His latest bestseller, 'The Uncommon Reader', out in paperback next month, displays his mastery of voice – and his gentle sympathy for the older woman (it's about the Queen).

9 (32) Alan Carr; Comedian
There are reports of a TV bidding war as the self-styled Tooth Fairy nears the end of his Channel 4 contract. As well as hosting 'The Friday Night Project', and its Sunday incarnation, Carr has a second series of 'Alan Carr's Celebrity Ding Dong' due in August. He's also the first male spokesmodel for the Fashion Targets Breast Cancer campaign.

10 (11) Graham Norton; TV personality
The BBC's Saturday-night superstar is unstoppable, easily riding out the recent brouhaha about star salaries. He's a ratings giant, capturing a cross-generational fanbase while maintaining a visibly gay – not just camp – sensibility. And thanks to BBC America, his reputation for exuberant iconoclasm has spread beyond these shores.

11 (27) Nicholas Boles; Chief of staff to Boris Johnson
Tory candidate for Grantham, the safe seat held by defector Quentin Davies. When Boles, 42, came out last year local Tory activists gave him a round of applause. As London Mayor Boris Johnson's right-hand man, he has control of an £11bn budget. Boles is soon to return to Tory HQ as head of policy, and is tipped as a future cabinet minister.

12 (2) Stephen Fry; Everything
When not writing, acting, chairing 'QI' or outing himself as a techno-geek, Fry does such things as making a BBC film about HIV/Aids to commemorate 25 years of the Terrence Higgins Trust. His panto for the Old Vic, London, which paralleled Cinderella's straight relationship with a gay one for Buttons, garnered the year's most homophobic reviews.

‘Nailed’ shuts for fourth time

Production of troubled indie comedy Nailed, starring Jessica Biel and Jake Gyllenhaal, has been shut down for a fourth time due to financial problems. Below-the-line crews refused to work Friday. After members of the Intl. Alliance of Theatrical & Stage Employees were not paid, IATSE leaders ordered them not to show up at the North Carolina set.

A person familiar with the situation said the production’s expected to resume Monday for the final two days of principal photography, including a key restaurant scene. IATSE crews also stopped production twice in May after not being paid, then resumed after receiving paychecks. The Screen Actors Guild also ordered its members to stop working on May 9 after film financer Capitol Films failed to deposit enough required money in SAG accounts set up to pay the actors. Capitol Films was not immediately available for comment.

Calm down, Jake. No one is accusing you of anything.

No, no one is accusing Jake, because pretty much everyone thinks they weren't that close friends anymore. They probably only saw each other every once in a while.
I'm talking about the people who were really close to him. I can't shake off the feeling if they tried to help they weren't persistent enough. Maybe they never thought that the worst would be the outcome, but you have to think of the worse in this case.

That's why it's ridiculous media said things like "it hit Jake harder than anyone else". And then we saw pictures of him with Reese looking well and content.
I'm glad media stopped writing this kind of cr*p.
The terrible news certainly weren't easy for Jake, like for the other co-stars Heath worked with, but he'll certainly move on faster than Heath's family or close friends.

When the Brokeback cast was on Oprah, the audience cheered for Jake the whole time, by far not so much for Heath. That's what fans said who were there. They also said Jake and Heath seemed to be good friends.
I hope Heath knew how many fans he had too.
It must have sucked when all the TDK fanboys dissed him when they first announced Heath would play the Joker.
It seems like he always had to prove himself. After BBM many people said that was his only good performance and he couldn't have pulled it off w/o the strong performance of Jake. I'm sure many of the posters here know what I'm talking about. Those who said this, obviously didn't see his other performances. Granted some of his films weren't that good, but most of the time his performances were spot on.
A movie critic, I think Roeper from Ebert and Roeper, said that Heath was very underrated as an actor. I agree with that.

This week will be another big week for Brokeback. Why now? This Friday at 9pm, after the GLAAD media awards, will be the U.S. network premiere on Bravo, a cable channel and part of parent company NBC.

What will be edited out for television? Is Bravo a test run for it to be seen on NBC? Or this NBC's solution putting it on Bravo instead on NBC?

One thing it is, is a chance to reach an audience who was too scared to go to the movie or rent the video. Putting it on network TV, in whatever form, may reach that one person, that one teen who may need it most to realize that " love is a force of nature".

'Nailed' gunned down -- again

Even in the final stretch of filming in Columbia, "Nailed" can't catch a break. Filming was supposed to finish this weekend on the comedy starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Biel, but shoot was shut down for a fourth time. The International Alliance of Theatrical & Stage Employees ordered members to avoid the set on Friday because movie crews had not been paid -- again, Variety and L.A. Weekly reported.

Filming was expected to start again today, a source told Variety. The S.C. Film Commission said it did not know if shooting had resumed. Attempts to reach the production company of "Nailed" was unsuccessful today. The independent movie's backer, Capitol Films, received financing this month to get filming restarted after the last stoppage by crew members that began on May 22 and lasted nearly two weeks.

The financing was supposed to be enough to get through the shooting and pay union penalties, sources told The Hollywood Reporter this month. Still, the sources said at the time they don't know if there's enough money to last through post-production. "One more shutdown will kill the movie," a film executive told by The Hollywood Reporter this month.

The shoot around Columbia, which started in mid-April, was supposed to end Sunday.

Gawker comments:

100% Mike Myers for number one. He's been openly gay in Toronto for a long time. It is commonly accepted that he married his wife for his mother's sake and as soon as she died they divorced. (He's also been openly douchey in Toronto for a long time--one star we're not proud to call Canadian).

#1 is Mike Myers. While shooting Love Guru in Toronto he was pretty open about it. Also, the 'groovy' adjective nails it.

Upcoming Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams Film, 'Blue Valentine' Put On Hold

Filming of Michelle Williams's next movie, Blue Valentine, has been put on hold while the actress copes with the death of Heath Ledger, a source tells PEOPLE. "We will hold off until she is ready," says a source connected with the film. "The production is in the process of sorting it out in respect to her."

The movie – a relationship drama centered around a young couple struggling with their marriage – also stars Ryan Gosling. Production on the film was set to start on February 25, but has been moved back to an indefinite date.

"We're hoping she will still come back and do the film and are happy to wait," the source says. "The film is tailor made for those two so of course we would want to wait. You can't get much better than them." Williams had just finished shooting her last scene in the film "Mammuth" in Sweden when she received the news of Ledger's death.

'Blue Valentine' synopsis from THINKFilm:

"A complex portrait of a contemporary American marriage, BLUE VALENTINE tells the story of David and Cindy, a couple who have been together for several years but who are at an impasse in their relationship. While Cindy has blossomed into a woman with opportunities and options, David is still the same person he was when they met, and is unable to accept either Cindy's growth or his lack of it. Innovatively structured, the narrative unfolds in two distinct time frames, juxtaposing scenes of first love and youthful sexuality, with those of disenchantment and discord."

The quote from OK! is hilarious. It reminds me of Jake's quote about marrying a mindful woman. How romantic and passionate!

Reese Witherspoon tries to stay incognito with shades and a black hat at LAX Airport in Los Angeles on Saturday, but still garners lots of attention.

Currently dating Rendition co-star Jake Gyllenhaal, 28, the 32-year-old actress has two children with Ryan Phillippe. Ava is 8 and Deacon is 4.

“Jake wants to get married, he’s never been engaged and he’s never been married before,” a friend of the couple told OK! recently. “He wants to experience that, and have that high of saying vows and making it official. He’s a guy that does things by the book, and I wouldn’t be surprised if by the year’s end he and Reese got married… it’s just convincing her it’s what to do!”

I just watched Brokeback Mountain and am hugely impressed. Ang Lee is a fabulous director. It was gripping. I had let it sit around for a few weeks and was not excited about watching it, I just thought I should since it got so much critical acclaim. It was great, very human, real. Excellent movie about relationships in general… what people are willing to accept, the disappointments, the dynamics. I highly recommend it.

What Jack remembered and craved in a way he could neither help nor understand was the time that distant summer on Brokeback when Ennis had come up behind him and pulled him close, the silent embrace satisfying some shared and sexless hunger.

They had stood that way for a long time in front of the fire, its burning tossing ruddy chunks of light, the shadow of their bodies a single column against the rock. The minutes ticked by from the round watch in Ennis's pocket, from the sticks in the fire settling into coals. Stars bit through the wavy heat layers above the fire. Ennis's breath came slow and quiet, he hummed, rocked a little in the sparklight and Jack leaned against the steady heartbeat, the vibrations of the humming like faint electricity and, standing, he fell into sleep that was not sleep but something else drowsy and tranced until Ennis, dredging up a rusty but still useable phrase from the childhood time before his mother died, said, "Time to hit the hay, cowboy. I got a go. Come on, you're sleepin on your feet like a horse," and gave Jack a shake, a push, and went off in the darkness. Jack heard his spurs tremble as he mounted, the words "see you tomorrow," and the horse's shuddering snort, grind of hoof on stone.

Later, that dozy embrace solidified in his memory as the single moment of artless, charmed happiness in their separate and difficult lives. Nothing marred it, even the knowledge that Ennis would not then embrace him face to face because he did not want to see nor feel that it was Jack he held. And maybe, he thought, they'd never got much farther than that. Let be, let be.

Anne Hathaway gets smart about career decisions

It was only eight years ago that Anne Hathaway made her professional acting debut in the short-lived Fox series “Get Real.” Take a few moments and try to remember the show. Today, Hathaway is so well-known in the feature film world that she landed the coveted role of Agent 99 in the new movie take on the classic television series “Get Smart.” This follows much big-screen success in movies, including “The Princess Diaries” and “Brokeback Mountain.”

On a Saturday in February, the 25-year-old Brooklyn native had just sent the audience at the WonderCon convention into a frenzy with her appearance to promote the movie four months before it opened. This kind of rapid rise to stardom could not be some kind of a fluke. There had to be a plan.

I have not planned one minute of my career,” Hathaway says after facing the fans. “That’s because you never know what kind of film you are going to make until it is edited and sold.”

She points to “Princess Diaries” as the perfect example. The final product ended up being a family-friendly movie about a young woman whisked away from a pedestrian life into the world of royalty. When Hathaway signed on, the character wore knee-high combat boots, swore a little and was involved with underage drinking. By the time audiences saw it, the movie had taken on a fairy tale feel. Her “Ella Enchanted” was written for a teenage audience. It ended up being popular with children.

Hathaway shows a willingness to make fun of where her career has taken her when she says the movie “Havoc” was “supposed to be good.” So instead of a plan, Hathaway has just taken roles and done her best to help tell the story the director is trying to tell. “Get Smart” director Peter Segal has nothing but praise for Hathaway. The director, whose previous work includes “50 First Dates” and “Anger Management,” describes working with Hathaway and the rest of the cast as the best moviemaking experience of his life.

There may not have been a plan to Hathaway’s career, but she has always thought hard about each role she accepts. That was particularly the case with this film. Agent 99 is one of best-known characters in television history.

With every single role I play, I have a moment where I say, ‘I don’t think I should do this.’ There are usually several reasons why I think I should never act again,” Hathaway says. “I loved the series growing up. And Barbara Feldon was an icon to me. So I did have a moment’s pause of accepting the inheritance of that role.”

She decided to take on the part as a way of showing respect. And so Hathaway, with “Get Smart,” has reached the kind of fame, even without a plan, about which most actors can only dream. Surely she must be taking advantage of this status to do jet-setting things.

“I am taking lots of yoga classes and learning to play the banjo,” Hathaway says with a smile. Interesting. She must be planning on starring in a movie about a woman who rises from rags to riches through her love of bluegrass music. “I decided to learn the banjo because my hands aren’t big enough to play the guitar. There was a banjo on the set of the last movie I made, and I liked the way it sounded,” Hathaway says.

In other words, she never planned on playing the banjo.

Reading through old posts someone wondered if Jake was only Matilda's "celebrity Godfather". According to Teresa, Heath's friend and the woman who was the owner of heathledgercentral.com, Jake is Matilda's real Godfather, not only celebrity Godfather.

Jake also officially confirmed he was her Godfather, saying he loved Michelle and Matilda and that it was an incredible honor that Heath asked him to be her Godfather.
IDK why people still question this. He is her real Godfather. Whether he is a "good" Godfather or whether he visits her or not is another question, which I don't have an answer for.

IDK why people still question this.

Because it's easier to question it than Jake's behavior towards the father of his godchild and the godchild itself. If he's a "celebrity godfather" then Heath and Jake were never close, he didn't owe him any statement or memorial attendance and his dissing of him was the right thing because they weren't friends and he was nothing more than a simple co-star like Sienna Miller. So you see Jake remains perfect and his integrity stays intact this way. It's so easy to make excuses and spin to fit agendas, too bad they're just that - poor excuses.

"I can't shake off the feeling if they tried to help they weren't persistent enough."

How nice of you to judge a bunch of people you know nothing about based on a "feeling".

The actors strike could disrupt and delay Prince of Persia, and force it to shut down production:

“...More than 1,800 people, both in the U.S. and abroad, are lined up to work on Disney's nearly $200-million-budget "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time," a video-game-based tale starring Jake Gyllenhaal that's set to begin production in Morocco on July 28.

"Of course, we're concerned," said the film's producer, Jerry Bruckheimer. "We'd have to shut it down and everybody goes home. . . . But I can't believe either side wants a strike." Bruckheimer said if the production was delayed, the crew nonetheless would continue working on visual effects, editing, set building and other areas not requiring actors.

Moreover, if halting production pushes the eventual start date of "Prince of Persia" too far into the future, the film would risk missing its planned release date next summer....”

Dear Ted:
Correct me if I'm wrong, but in your recent Truth, Lies, and Ted video, there are at least two comical clues as to why Jake and Reese will not be living passionately ever after. One clue was visual, the other verbal, but both reaffirmed your status as gossip's most clever columnist! Kudos!

Dear Ted:
Love the column, Ted! Especially Sex, Lies and Ted! Great to see you in the flesh again, baby. I've noticed a few let's say "dubious" pairings in H'wood. How many reasons are there for a phony romance? Particularly when it is a serial occurrence?

Dear Repeat Offender:
First off, it’s Truth, Lies and Ted. Sex, Lies and Ted would be quite a different show, but glad to see where your mind is going. And faux-mances are all formed for one thing: publicity.

I think just about every man in Hollywood has been suggested for Toothy, so there is only one guy left: It’s gotta be Carrot Top! Please Tedly, tell us someday soon—I might be dead by the time you spill...

Don’t insult the annals of this column’s beauty, darling, please.
