Celebrating August 4, 2010
August 4, 2010 - Proposition 8 ruled unconstitutional‎

From the ruling: "Proposition 8 fails to advance any rational basis in singling out gay men and lesbians for denial of a marriage license. Indeed the evidence shows Proposition 8 does nothing more than enshrine in the California constitution the notion that opposite sex couples are superior to same sex couples."

I remember Secretagentman on Towleroad YEARS ago. He posted that Jake was indeed gay and it was well-known in the industry. He gave us some industry tidbits and the Jake is Straight troll that used to post everywhere went ballistic. He just shrugged her off. I really liked him.

Good times :)

Jake was never confirmed for this event, it was just assumes by lazy entertainment "journalists" because he did the PSA, just like the Haiti relief fund, he only did the PSA and was never suppose to do the telethon.

Now he has skipped other events like the Literary charity for kids twice, once in L.A. afew years ago and again earlier this year in NY.

He also did that food charity with Natalie.

He's gay.

I've known several people who have dated him. All men.

I don't why he's making such a statement, but I'm sure he's under a lot of pressure from agents and managers to keep a lid on his sexuality. From what I'm told, he's secretive in his habits.

But his "art" speaks for itself. He'll come flaming out of the closet at some gay awards show banquet long after his career's gone dormant.

Watch: CNN Asks, Are Gay TV Characters Bad for Society? said...

The way this Showbiz Tonight special segment is framed is pretty disgusting. And who the F is Charles Gainor of the Culture and Media Institute?

There's a "furious new debate" (see screenshot) about gays on TV? I guess I didn't get the memo.

Imagine if Showbiz Tonight did a segment questioning if TV was too Black, or too Jewish?

It's particularly nasty when you see that CNN is also running a poll, which seems to be related to this sensationalist piece, but stands alone, with no apparent connection on CNN's front page.

Watch the segment...

UPDATE: CNN pulls poll at GLAAD request.

Martin Sheen joins hotel workers on Royal York hotel picket line

It would seem like there’s no natural alliance between the glitzy lifestyle of celebrities in town for the Toronto International Film Festival, and the struggling workers running the hotels they stay in.

But as Hollywood star Martin Sheen reminded striking hotel workers outside the Royal York, actors are union members too.

Sheen, in town for the festival to promote his movie The Way, made a surprise appearance outside the venerated hotel Friday morning and marched alongside striking workers in their one-day walkout. Wearing a sign reading “On strike for justice, Unite Here,” Sheen told the Star: “I’ve been involved in labour struggles all my adult life and I support it.”

Both Rachel and Jake are determined to keep their relationship private by keeping a low-profile and not stepping out in public together.' The website said the pair – who are notoriously private when it comes to their personal lives – want to keep their relationship quiet for as long as possible. Jake and Rachel are perfect for each other. They will look great together and make beautiful babies if they ever decide to settle down. Jake is looking for a stable relationship

Is this^^ standard boilerplate bullshit in Chapter 2 or in Chapter 5? I've seemed to have misplaced my PR BS Handbook.

LOL the Gybil story on ONTD.

I wonder why they're so late with this "story." Aside from the usual few dim bulbs who think they'd make a "perfect couple" (if you're talking starlet who gets publicity by being a professional beard and closeted gay guy than, yeah, they are perfect for each other), some of the comments are pretty funny and there is the obligatory J&A Laker's game pic:

She's srsly Queen Beard.
Is there such a thing as revenge bearding? Like, she's pissed that her last bearding gig didn't work so she's gone for a bigger, better bearding job to make Hayden jealous?

It's nice that he's willing to be a professional gay boyfriend for all the recently-single actresses he knows, but...Rachel Bilson? I thought she just broke up with a gay boyfriend.

The internet has corrupted me. I just saw beard+Jake+Rachel Bilson+Hayden Christensen and loled forever

LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling play lovers caught in a disintegrating marriage in the upcoming romantic drama “Blue Valentine,” but playing husband and wife came with an on-set price.

“We did the sex scenes, and it was toxic,” Michelle told W magazine, in an interview for the mag’s October 2010 issue. “Ryan and I stopped relating to each other as Ryan and Michelle. Those scenes took forever.”

“In real life sex is messy,” Ryan added. “We wanted to get under that wonderful messiness.”

Michelle told the mag that it’s ironic that she chooses films that require nudity, since the former “Brokeback Mountain” star isn’t completely comfortable with her body.

“I have the usual self-loathing and body issues, and yet I seem to be naked in a lot of movies,” she told W. “It would be really nice if the pictures did not get posted online. But then maybe that’s a reason to do it: Just get naked, and who cares if it ends up on the Internet.”

Michelle, who got her start on the hit show “Dawson’s Creek,” said the teen drama prepared her for life as a working actress.

“I was so lucky to get ‘Dawson’s.’ I was auditioning for pilots twice a day,” she said. “You get used to the rhythm of rejection. But auditioning for pilots taught me to change my clothes really fast. To this day I can get in and out of my bra and panties faster than anyone.”

Let's talk about sex

^^^ what's up with posters (male or female) complaining about men sporting beards "facial hair"???

I don't get it. Men can change their looks and styles also. It's called a change every now and then. Women do this shit all the time with hair color, extensions, wigs, too much makeup, dumb "IN" fashions that don't look right on their bodies. And Men better not complain, even though most I know don't like all the excessive shit women do for change and style. Give Zach a break, and while you're at it, give Jake a break also with his lumberJack look. Let them do their thing. Zach looks handsome IMO.

The Scientific Explanation For Why Certain Dance Moves Are More Attractive said...

What pattern of fist pumping and hip swaying makes the ladies swoon over dudes? Science is here to tell us!

One researcher wanted to see whether humans move in the same way animals in the wild do when attracting potential mates.

[Dr Nick Neave, an evolutionary psychologist,] asked young men who were not professional dancers, to dance in a laboratory to a very basic drum rhythm and their movements with 12 cameras. These movements were then converted into a computer-generated cartoon – an avatar – which women rated on a scale of one to seven. He was surprised by the results.

"We thought that people's arms and legs would be really important. The kind of expressive gestures the hands [make], for example. But in fact this was not the case," he said. We found that (women paid more attention to) the core body region: the torso, the neck, the head." Movements that went down terribly were twitchy and repetitive – so called "Dad dancing".

And while the researchers didn't study how members of the same-sex interpret these dance moves, I can tell you from person experience that, hands down, shoving your ass into my crotch does not impress.

Is Jake Gyllenhaal going to be our next A-Lister? said...

Using the films Donnie Darko, Brokeback Mountain, and Prince of Persia as stepping stones to fight your way through Hollywood’s fierce sea of talent is quite an impressive move from Jake Gyllenhaal. He’s gone from Indie Goodness to Heroic Mainstream appealing a varied audience, and considering he’s only 30 I think we’ve got a lot to see from him yet.

If you look at the other films he’s participated in such as Jarhead, The Day After Tomorrow and The Good Girl, he knows how to recognise the blockbusters. But they’re usually demanding characters that have substance to them, rather than playing the soppy lead to make all the girls swoon. Although, that is exactly what he’s doing in this latest feature to be released on DVD, playing the Prince of a incredibly popular computer game. He beefed up for the role and transformed himself, much like Taylor Lautner or Tom Hardy for roles in films they knew would get them noticed. But although he’s playing the good looking, strong prince, he’s also an action role model enticing men to look up to him and want to battle like he does. See? He’s quite the clever actor…

more said...

To have such a varied amount of characters in his acting history means producers and directors are going to be very open for him trying new roles. In films currently in post-production or filming now, he’s playing a Senator (Nailed), a free-spirited lead in a romance aside Anne Hathaway (Love and Other Drugs) and a commuter in a Sci-Fi film (Source Code). They couldn’t be more different , unless he was playing a woman which still could happen. He’s really proving himself to be the next big thing, and although some might already see him as that, you don’t get the same reaction to his name like when you say “De Nero” or “Al Pacino”. Why is that?

Maybe because he hasn’t had a scandal in the newspaper which will attract attention to him. Or maybe because he doesn’t have a Hollywood Star as his wife. But doesn’t that make him all the more great? He’s playing these huge, challenging roles that demand so much attention from the film world, yet he still remains pretty grounded. He’s almost like a minor version of Johnny Depp keeping his film world separate from his personal world. It worked out well for Depp, so Jake’s sticking to the right thing.

Lets wait and see until we start naming him Gyllenhaal without the Jake. Then he’s made it big!

" He’s almost like a minor version of Johnny Depp keeping his film world separate from his personal world. It worked out well for Depp, so Jake’s sticking to the right thing."

Nonsense - J. Depp lives (or lived) in France and did not parade his wife around like a trophy.

When the first set-pictures of PoP were shown Reese was there "holding hand" and made him the laughing stock of the internet.

"He beefed up for the role and transformed himself, much like Taylor Lautner or Tom Hardy for roles in films they knew would get them noticed."

A joke mentioning Lautner in the same sentence as Tom Hardy. Hardy was praised for his role in "Bronson" and he disappeared in the character. Not a Box Office succes but it earned him much respect among critics and fanboys.

Jake did a good job with PoP IMO but the film was not well received by critics and audience.

Sorry but at the moment he is nowhere near A-List.

Anne Thomson wrote a realistic article on Jake back in June:

LOL 7:53 maybe you should read it again: Maybe because he hasn’t had a scandal in the newspaper which will attract attention to him. Or maybe because he doesn’t have a Hollywood Star as his wife. Or maybe you should ask yourself why everyone knows who Kim Kardashian is but haven't a clue about Beth Grant.

Huh? Are DeNiro and Pacino best known for scandals? I don't think so. And are they even married? I don't know that much about their personal lives except that I remember something about Pacino having kids with Beverly D'Angelo a long time ago, I think. What an odd comparison.

ITA, destiny. It's poorly written and the writer can't seem to distinguish between being "famous" and being an "A-lister." Those two things are not interchangeable. Someone gave an example of Kim Kardashian - um, she may be famous (or infamous) but she's not a freakin' A-lister. Reality show famewhores are a dime a dozen. Are they seriously trying to say that the only difference between Jake and DeNiro is a scandal? Please. And trying to compare Jake and Johnny Depp's personal lives is flat-out stupid.

He was seen at LAX a few days ago, no indication whether he was departing or arriving though. But previously to that sighting there was one sighting of him and McBongo on MV, so I'd say it was him arriving back in L.A. He's probably in L.A. now.
