Becoming a father led to another life-changing decision for Clay Aiken, 29, the American Idol runner-up whose awkward charm, flat-ironed red hair and soulful sound inspired a curious and deeply devoted cult of music fans who call themselves Claymates. Long dogged by rumors about his sexuality, Aiken decided the time had come for him to publicly acknowledge what he's known privately since he was in college: He's gay.
Says Aiken: "It was the first decision I made as a father. I cannot raise a child to lie or to hide things. I wasn't raised that way, and I'm not going to raise a child to do that."

If someone asked me today, "Ricky, what are you afraid of?" I would answer "the blood that runs through the streets of countries at war...child slavery, terrorism...the cynicism of some people in positions of power, the misinterpretation of faith." But fear of my truth? Not at all! On the contrary, It fills me with strength and courage. This is just what I need especially now that I am the father of two beautiful boys that are so full of light and who with their outlook teach me new things every day. To keep living as I did up until today would be to indirectly diminish the glow that my kids were born with.

ITA. But, I think that they were hot & heavy in 2006 & part of 2007 and Jake agree to partake in Reeke ended the dating. I do think that they are still friends, possibly with benefits, and do hang out more often than we are allowed to see. Look at Busy Phillips. When we got the Reeke does Coachella photo op day, they were standing next to Busy & it looks like they were ignoring her. But seeing the Farmer's Market twitpic, makese think that the sighting of Jake a few weeks ago at breakfast at Lamil with a couple & their little girl may have been Busy and her family.

President Obama today addressed a group of local LGBT leaders and gay youth this evening at the White House, touting passage of the Matthew Shepard hate crimes act and his executive order directing hospitals to grant same-sex partners visitation rights and medical power of attorney.
Obama also promised to continue fighting for DADT repeal until the bill reaches his desk, and reiterated his commitment to repealing the Defense of Marriage Act.
The President acknowledged the youth in the room and said that they offer hope for our future.

Ian Somerhalder is also showmancing with his Vampire Diaries co-star Nina Dobrev. They are still in the "are they - aren't they?" dating phase but they already staged many photo ops, including the lakers.

It's been 2 years since Heath died and they knew each other only for twice as long, so if they weren't friends/close why would Jake still be weird about Heath and his death? I would think he should be over it by now in that case.

I've no idea how seriously Heath took all the godparent business, but I think Michelle does take it seriously, she makes an effort to keep in touch with Matilda's godparents. Michelle loves Busy (they both have a necklace with half a heart for each) and she likes Jake very obviously to me.

Wheeeee! The Inception trailer looks fantastic, I love all the characters - Leo is so intense in it, JGL too, not so boyish anymore and sexy. Marion Cotillard and Ellen Page, Michael Caine, Tom Beringer. I don't want to see too much so I don't spoil it for myself. :)
DiCaprio has such good instincts regarding good scripts/movies. He may not be one of the most versatile actors, but the guy has such intensity in every movie, which is appealing. Though I cringed a bit in Shutter Island spoilers ahead!!!

On the career front, Jake can next be seen in the David O. Russell directed romantic comedy titled "Nailed," which co-stars Jessica Biel and James Marsden.

Anne Hathaway's Jewelry From Convicted Ex-Boyfriend To Be Auctioned Off
New York, NY, United States (AHN) - Anne Hathaway's jewelry from her convicted swindler ex-boyfriend is set to be auctioned off. Federal authorities are planning to put the baubles under the hammer.
Following Raffaello Follieri's arrest in June 2008, the FBI seized the jewelry he had given the actress during their relationship. The expensive trinkets – which include silver earrings with diamonds, silver chain with a cross pendant, two gold rings, a Louis Vuitton box, and a five-strand pearl necklace – were bought using the money Follieri generated from his illegal activities.
Follieri was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple counts of wire fraud, conspiracy, and money laundering.
The authorities gave Hathaway chance to bid exclusively on the items, but she apparently chose to totally forget her ex, according to the New York Post. The auction will be held to repay the swindler's victims.
No date has been set for the auction yet.

Waaaaay too many pixels have already been spilled over the waste of time that is gay Newsweek writer Ramin Setoodeh, but I confess, I was watching Jonathan Groff on Glee the other night and just smiling my head off, thinking, “I am soooo impressed that this handsome, wonderfully talented guy had the guts to come out so early in his career, even before being cast in a big fat hit that would make him rich and (probably) ensure life-long employment!”
He's literally done exactly what almost every gay person says they would do if they were in his position – although, to date, he's one of very, very few people to actually have done it.
Then I remembered the nasty, catty things Setoodeh had written about him – how he wasn’t convincingly playing heterosexual because he seemed like a “theater queen.” That article, and all the attention it received, must literally have been Groff’s worst nightmare.
And I was suddenly livid with rage, thinking, “What an absolute a**hole Ramin Setoodeh is! To completely undercut this brave actor like that!”
On all his lying, self-serving TV appearances, Setoodah talked about how he wrote the article because he wants there to be more openly gay actors, but why in the world would there be with evil, snotty gay journalists like Setoodeh sabotaging them like that?

But I agree with you, Gilbert. There’s this idea that straight people are obsessed with gay people, but I don’t think they think about us any more than you and I think about, say, Asian-American people (assuming you’re not Asian-American); we think about the issue when we’re directly confronted with it or when our attention is called to it.
Okay, sure, the gay issue is a little more complicated because there are a lot of nasty anti-gay stereotypes (like we want to molest children or destroy “the family”), and also because the gay issue is mixed up with sex: almost everyone has a sexual response to the idea of either gay men or lesbians, which also results in some kind of emotional response.
But I still think the people that obsess over gay issues are mostly: (1) gay people, (2) our gay-supportive straight allies who usually have some personal friend or other connection, (3) and the anti-gay haters who I think, frankly, are either secretly gay themselves or have some other deep-seated insecurity.
I absolutely think most straight people see “gay” in an actor only when a big deal was made out of the actor’s sexuality (as in the case of Ellen) or when the actor plays a high-profile gay role (as in the case of Sean Hayes).
But even then, if the actor “works” in the self-contained reality of a role, I think it’s a fleeting non-issue. What matters most is (a) whether the actor is likable and (b) how talented they are at their craft.
As in so many things, I think the real problem is fear itself: the fear of casting directors and producers that audiences will be homophobic, the fear of actors that casting directors and producers will pander to their audience’s worst bigotries.
And, of course, there’s also the apparently perfectly appropriate fear that some catty a**hole gay journalist at Newsweek will raise a big, bitchy stink, validating all the above fears.

Jake got Kirsten to get Austin a role in Wimbelton and then Sophia got him into OTH and now S & A are pushing Sophin to get attention for the show and themselves. They seem desperate. But can we blame them? It's a business where you earn a lot of money doing fun, easy work.

I agree. She seems very self-conscious, controlling and aware of every site and comment that talks about her on the internet (I am sure she lurks here too). She has a confrontational style, she adjust to respond to criticism and seems to be willing to do anything that can bring her a higher PR profile. Now that we know her better, her personality is similar to Reese. Both are annoying as hell.
On the other hand, I thought she was dominant, but she seems to copy and follow Austin’s lead. Every time he says something, she mimics or says something similar to match Austin’s personality. She seems insecure.
If Jake really wants attention he should hang out with his star friends like Adam Levine (which he does lately), RDJ (which he does occasionally) or Annie Hathaway. Now he'd get PLENTY of attention if he'd hang out with Michelle and little M.
