Julianne Moore was predicted to earn an Oscar nomination today for Best Supporting Actress in A Single Man. That spot went to Maggie Gyllenhaal for Crazy Heart. Now you know I’m all for Maggie G. Love her. But Julianne... she was robbed. Also, much as I’m a fan of Sandra Bullock, it’s criminal that she could have an Oscar before Julianne, and most criminal that Hilary Swank has TWO. Still makes me angry.
Having said that, it’s not like Maggie is undeserving. And she shouldn’t be blamed. Maggie at the Oscars is a great thing. Maggie is no Aniston. She is never sartorially bromidic.
Example: Maggie went out for family lunch this weekend with her husband Peter Sarsgaard and her brother Jakey G. LOVE this dress. Yes, Duana. It’s very, very you. And that little Ramona. Is. So. CUTE! Exactly half of each her parents, adorable.

It's a cute thought, but there is still no single evidence Jake (let alone any other Gyllenhaal) is in touch with Matilda. Either they are always indoors when they meet or there is nothing. Not true. Maggie and Peter aren't big stars, and don't use paparazzi for self promotion and had no reason to arange LAX paparazzi, unlike the chin they didn't have anything to announce. Unlike the chin, Maggie's movie had two GG nominations.

I agree that in part it must be the closet, but I think there is a part of Jake that wants to keep what he loves and values the most to himself and not for public consumption (BT, Austin, Matilda, Heath). He uses for publicity what he doesn't care (ex-beard) or what is already public (like his parents-sister).

I was started as an actor here in LA in the mid 90's and I was also gay but not out and it was eating me inside- especially when i had scenes with women..having to make out with them etc. Anyways...i made enough money to put me thru college and then i came back and transitioned to behind the cameras. Being in front of the cameras is so damn much pressure...the rejection and competition in auditions...you really only as good as your last role.
I am now happily open about my sexuality..i dont flaunt it.. but i dont deny it if im asked directly.
I dont blame actors starting out for staying in the closet and bearding etc.
Interestingly enough i find it easy to flirt with women/chicks..i guess since i know it wont lead anywhere. But with men/guys i have this weird awkwardness i get all shy nervous and flustered.

There's a difference between keeping something private, and completely hiding it. Funny how all the famous straight couples are well known, even if they manage to keep their lives very private, but most gay couples are not hidden away and not known to the general public.
