The Price of Success

July 13, 2009

At Outfest on Sunday afternoon, three-time Emmy winning and openly gay director Todd Holland told a small audience that he advises young, gay male actors to "stay in the closet." The remark came during a panel at the Directors Guild of America titled, "Taking It to the Streets: LGBT Directors Get Political." Outfest, which pushes the slogan "protecting our past, showcasing our present, nurturing our future," is one of the premiere gay and lesbian film festivals in the United States.

Holland, who was talking as one of the featured panelists, and who once worked as a director on the critically acclaimed HBO sit-com The Larry Sanders Show, explained that it's a necessary career choice if a gay actor wants to succeed in Hollywood.

Fellow panelist and filmmaker Kirby Dick, director of Outrage, a 2009 documentary about gay politicians who stay in the closet to further their political careers, told Holland: "I know where you're coming from, but it's a regressive argument."

Holland, who was legally married before Proposition 8 was passed by California voters in November, responded that he was just being realistic, but Dick, who is heterosexual, believed that if "an A-list actor came out, it would have more impact on the culture than an A-list politician."

No one talked about the personal repercussions of a gay actor succeeding in Hollywood by lying about his sexual orientation to the general public.

Holland's comments underscore a decades old problem in Hollywood, where gay and straight studio executives, agents, and other major players often advise up-and-coming gay, male actors to live in the closet. Rarely, though, has someone like Holland been so public with that advice.

Besides Holland and Dick, "Taking It to the Streets" featured filmmakers Jamie Babbit, Katherine Brooks, Frieda Lee Mock and Charles Herman-Wurmfield, and was billed as a discussion about how gay and lesbian filmmakers "are taking a more active role in creating social and political change."

One audience member, openly gay filmmaker Matthew Mishory, later told Queer Town that Holland's mind set is pervasive throughout the entertainment business.

"This stuff doesn't just extend to actors," says Mishory. "We've been told, as gay filmmakers, not tell queer stories or else we'll get pigeonholed."

Mishory has just finished a film about legendary gay director Derek Jarman called Delphinium. Through that work, Mishory has come to believe that "the promise of the New Queer Cinema of the 1980s and 1990s has not necessarily been delivered."

Before the panelists started their discussion, blogger and lesbian filmmaker J.D. Disalvatore warned Outfest crowds on her blog, The Smoking Cocktail, that several of the filmmakers "were not particularly political, so looking forward to seeing what they pull out of their asses for this one."

A few hours later, the 47-year-old Todd Holland publicly shared his "advice," with young, gay and lesbian filmmakers sitting in the audience. One person who heard the remark, and didn't want to be identified, told Queer Town, "What kind of message is that for an older gay filmmaker to send to young gay filmmakers? It's the kind of thing that will keep people in the closet."

"I think he must be hearing things or he wouldn't mention marriage and children. How much wanna bet the dumbass is going to "adopt" Baby Tile."

Ted DOES say "but what, for instance, happens if ..." but I agree it would be the perfect/only way for Jake to adopt BT and be able to get BT in the open. That very thing was predicted a while back by a poster on OMG and everyone laughed like yeah right. Either Ted gets info/ideas from OMG (and here) or that poster is a lucky guesser/has info. I can't remember who it was, sorry.

Anonymous said...

I think Ted ends up talking about fake couples in general, but he is definitely settling the ground for a possible engagement/marriage.
Poor Ted! What's he gona say about BT then? :D
I do believe Jake is gay but that doesn't mean he can't get married with his beard. But raising a hidden child at the same time??!!! no fucking way....

Anonymous said...

Adopt BT? I don't think Baby Tile exists. If Reeke have kids, they'll make their own like Will and Jada, John and Kelly, Tom & Katie etc.

Remember the good old days when Reese didnt' want people to think she was pregnant? Wasn't there some speculation Reese had her tubes tied, and that is why a few years back she was able to get that tabloid to pay up when they claimed she was pregnant?

Anonymous said...

So, now Reese is bi? I find that hard to believe, and I find it especially hard to believe that Ted is the only, THE ONLY, gossipmonger who knows of this.

And you know damn well that she would never adopt kids. Why should she? She already has her own.

Ted does love his games.

Jakey’s beefy but not serious
Too muscle man for my taste here…but EW.com has the first official photo of Jake Gyllenhaal in Prince of Persia, Disney’s highly anticipated big blockbuster next summer – by the time it’s released in 2010 it’ll be 2 years since filming. Which might be why they’re starting to tease now…by putting his large arm on display.

Jakey tells the magazine that “I’m tired of taking myself so seriously” as an explanation for why he chose this project. Click here for more on Prince of Persia.

Jake’s other film Brothers, also shot a while ago, is now tentatively scheduled for a December open, perhaps hoping for awards season.

The trailer has been making the rounds. Have heard the performances are outstanding. Jake was shooting this when his friend Heath Ledger died.

But…they give away so much in this preview. I won’t lie though, the prospect of a Natalie Portman/Jake Gyllenhaal love scene…I’m there.

Yep because she would have to prove she was not pregnant at the time the pic was taken. How do you do that months later when the litigation starts, show them used pads/plugs that were timestamped?! The only way to prove it without a doubt is proof of an earlier sterilization procedure. And remember, the case was over within a few days at most. Cut and dried, open and shut case, no appeals. Proof again that there was without a doubt no possible pregnancy.

I don't know if Ted is saying Shafterella is gay/bi. Seems like he's saying she just likes spending time with her female frinds more than Jake or anyone else, including dating guys IMO.

Nice too that Ted does the Shafterella BV today, when the Chin reportedly just arrived in Philly to begin shooting her movie again. And fans thot she was snobby and preoccupied before, wait for this!

Anonymous said...

"One Sneaky, Sell-Out BV"

I wonder what Ted means by Sell-Out:

Bearding in general?

Reeke marriage?

A Reeke marriage as a way to get BT out in the open?

Jake is gay & Reese is bi/gay?

Jake is gay & Reese is asexual but putting on an act of dating?

Anonymous said...

the more I read the B.V., the more I think this may not be Reese. Reese isn't known for being super athletic, and certainly not a tennis player. Also, Ted doesn't say the this person was previously married, nor does he reference the kids that Reese already has. Ted just refers to her previous "man" and the possibly of her current guy getting married and having kids.

Ted makes reference to what they would tell any futher kids, but not what they would tell the current ones?

I really thought before this was Reese, but now this doesn't seem to add up to be her.

Anonymous said...

Wasn't there an Ent. Lawyer blind item about an A-list actress who nobody would ever suspect was interested in another woman that people were guessing might be Reese?

We'll probably get more details about Shafty as the weeks go by.

Anonymous said...

I really thought before this was Reese, but now this doesn't seem to add up to be her.

Ava and Deacon are not the product of a sham relationship and were not used to prove how "straight" Ryan was. My guess is that when Ava gets older she's going to be clamoring to live with Ryan full-time.

Anonymous said...

How does it add up? I read nothing in Ted's description that nails it to Reese. Reese was married and has two children. These two very specific clues are not referenced and would make it very easy to narrow this BV down to someone like Reese.

So, could someone tell me what specific clues link this to Reese?

Anonymous said...

Read previous Shafterella Shoshstein BI.

Why do you expect such specific clues??? The point of BI is to be vague enough and leave something for the next episode :)

If the point of the blind vice is to be vague enough for the next episode, then why should I think this blind vice is about Reese or anybody else for that matter. There has to be something specific enough for people to link a BV to someone in particular.

So again, why should I think this is Reese?

Because it was clear from the first BI that Shafterella Shoshstein = Reese Witherspoon and this BI fits, too.

One Sneaky Dame Blind Vice

Okay, babes, we're back to you skanky hets this week! I swear, straight folks are getting as kinky as us gays, are we teaching you that well? Apparently so.

Shafterella Shoshstein sure seems to be taking lessons successfully, and has been for some time, who the hell knew? When she busted up with her man not that long ago, everybody was sympathizing with poor S2. How could such a sweet, darling little babe have deserved such treatment from her male-slut partner for all those years? She's too talented, too charming, too damn dazzling to have to have endured such wretchedness, America cried!

Turns out we were all weeping for the wrong partner, perhaps. S.S.'s ex is just now starting to put the truth out there, via a few tanked encounters with his fave bartender. Damn, sure hope this good-lookin' lad doesn't have to become full-blown alcoholic before we find out the full truth of the matter, but jeez, keep on drinkin' there, buddy-boy!

Oh, and Shafty, shame on you, girlfriend. Cannot believe you penis-partied galore all that time, while letting your less-designing other half take the tabloid fall. Actually, I can. They don't pay ya the big bucks for nothin'.

Does anyone know of Reese having a pad, temporary or otherwise, in Beverly Hills?

And why has Ted not mentioned S.S. having kids, in either blind vice?

And how is it that Ted is the only one hinting at Reese's sexual proclivities? Am I supposed to believe he just found this out?

I don't know. It sounds like a way to explain why Reese is continuing to beard with Jake, especially when Ted so loudly proclaimed they would be over and done with long before now.

Just curious, but has Ted ever admitted that his predictions about a couple's breaking up was wrong, or that he was wrong about whether or not they are real?

Or does he just come up with ways to explain his lack of knowledge about what's really going on?

Anonymous said...

And why has Ted not mentioned S.S. having kids, in either blind vice?

Why would he?

I think to most people Beverley Hills and Brentwood are fairly interchangeable.

Its Reese, get over it, and let's be honest, RW liking a bit of sweaty lady loving makes her a heck of a lot more interesting than before.

"I don't know. It sounds like a way to explain why Reese is continuing to beard with Jake, especially when Ted so loudly proclaimed they would be over and done with long before now."

Ted probably thought both of them were more intelligent than to let this shmae go on for so long. He's probably as amazed as anyone else that two seemingly sensible people can't hear the laughter and mockery that follows their every move.

he's a gossip columist, not a greek oracle.

Ted mentioned ONCE that Jake's rethinking the bearding arrangement (something like that).

Ted said Reese and Jake would end when the Rendition DVD came out. I agree he's not a greek oracle, but he needs to stop making predictions and pronouncements like he really is in the know about what's going on.

He knows some and spins the rest.

Anonymous said...

In the first BI, Ted says Shafty liked penis, no mention of pussy. I sent Ted the ent lawyer BI about the A list actress and a woman that people guessed as Reese, that was months ago. He saved that to tack onto his update, wouldn't be the first time he took "fan" suggestions.

And don't tell me he just found out.

I also sent him some gossip about Ryan taking it up the ass for movie roles, waiting for him to spin that into a BI as well.

Ent and Ted need a reason why this has gone on for as long as it has.

Jessica nad Justin are NCS and are bearding for each other, not news but you can se how things get started.

Ted said the arrangement would end after rendition, then the awards. Ted has no new info onJake and none IMO on Reese, just more silly fanfic like that BT crap.

Reese swings both ways, LOL!!!!!

Anonymous said...

As a gay man, Ted probably knows a few people in the gay community who told him about Jake going out with gay guys. Maybe one of them saw Jake kissing or blowing a guy in some club, but that's it. The only thing Ted knows for sure is that Jake likes to fuck guys, after that, he knows NOTHING about Jake's plans for the future or his thoughts about bearding or with who he wants to sleep with. But of course he has to write the column to receive the pay check

I'm still waiting for the big expose on Bertie Knox, are they a Babbler, TB, non-TB, turncoat, doing Joe, etc. Did we find out anything from the intensive background search that someone with no life spent their day tracking it, did on them? The Babbler police?

Anonymous said...

Anyone? Anyone? ;)

If Bertie knox is also NETB then she was a TB from day one, I remember posting on WTF in the begginning then OMG. She became bored and stopped posting. She occasionally still posts on NETB.

If she is posting as Bertie Knox on WDW that's interesting because Kate/WDW always said that she wasn't intersested in Jake's private life but she posed all the time on WTF and I would assume here and OMG. She also was the only Jake blog to post the Ojai pic, even GB didn't I assume because they have a ban on talking about the kids and Ava and Deacon are in the picture.

Also, someone posted a thread from WDW proving that NETB/Knox were the same and she commented as NETB and Kate responded to her as Bertie. The thread was a year old.

What I don't get if Kate posted on WTF, here and OMG and the posts were JIG as some think, then she is weird because she posts more reeke pics than GB.

I remember her from DC and she was a majir Jake/Chris shipper.

First we had Brad Pitt in Troy. Then Colin Farrell in Alexander. Now joining these long-haired hunks with epically pumped pecs in epic pics comes...Jake Gyllenhaal in Prince of Persia!

Almost didn't recognize him without a latte in his hand.

We can barely look away from EW's "first look" sneak pics—but instead of drooling, we can't stop giggling. Beefcaked within an inch of his life, Jakey looks like one of the animatronics from some Gladiator theme park ride—or like he's on the way to a Purim costume party with Dem and Ashton.

So, yeah. We aren't buying this rough-and-tough Gyllenhaal. We much prefer him toned down, all sleek and sensitive. (Though we bet Reese sure doesn't.) I mean, come on, it looks just so, well...gay, right?

Why are people trashing posters on OMG? And why are you suggesting that they made death threats to anyone? Do you have proof? Trying to stir babbler/troll? And trying to get a look at Jake is hardly grounds for concern, lots of people when they know an actor they're interested in is hanging around try and get a look at him, look at all the Robert P. fans chasing him down in NY.

It's when people stop caring about you that actors have to start worrying.

Ted lives in LA. He knows the difference between Brentwood and Bev Hills. Far be it from me to defend the bitch who destroyed Jake, but I am not convinced it's Reese. A local would not mix up those communities. That said, I can see Ryan initiating 3somes.

Ted even hated BBM, because of the ending, among other things. His critique of the movie contained some of the most nonsensical things I recall reading. Example, he didn't like the ending because it was tragic. WTF??

After reading what went on here last night about death threats, etc., all I can say is Reeke PR definitely trolling about. The reaction to the POP poster is pretty much negative everywhere. The comments are mostly Jack looks like a pin head on puffed up body, Disney miscast Jake as Prince and he looks stupid. If I was Reeke's PR I would have my interns trying to drum up as much interference as I could manage. They think that by getting WFT2 & OMG to bicker amoung each other and maybe close that they solved the problem of Jake's online he's gay believers. But really, that POP poster is doing all that damage by itself. Someone said a few days ago that Jake started Reeke to get POP, well, here's hoping that Reeke costs him POP. After 2 years of photo ops that have over exposed him and made him look progressivly like Reese's pet, people will be quicker to dismiss him. Had it been pre-Reeke Jake, the one who everybody like and found to be likeable, sexy and confident, people may have been more forgiving of making a bad movie role choice. Looks like another benefit of all that bearding for Jake.

No I'm not. Don't know who made up that piece of gossip but I also read it on fanchitchat. Her son would have been 12 at the time and Jake was at Columbia supposedly. Jake 18/19 the son 12, they would have made Jake a pedophile!!

It was dismissed as made up gossip and rather sick too, makes you wonder why someone would want to put that out there.

Does anyone know of any rumors of Jake sleeping with other men during the course of his relationship with Austin.

Apr 20, 2006

hey, P-Bitch! I live in LA to and I've heard LOTS of stuff about Jake-y and being gay (but really bisexual, as if theirs a diff).

A guy friend of mine that's str8 does valet parking for xtra $ sometimes, and he SWEARS ON HIS LIFE AND ON HIS MAMMA'S GRAVE that about 2 years ago he saw Jake kissing this older dude when the stopped the car and didn't think anyone had come up yet to get his keys. Hours later when they came out Jake signed an autograph for my friend but said no when he asked if he could take a picture with his cell. My friend kept saying that if he had had his cell out and could have gotten a pic of that man and Jake he wouldn't ever probably have to work again 'cause he would sell it. I told him that was wrong, but he would have done it anyway.

I totally believe my friend cause he doesn't have a problem with gay people and he didn't have a reason to make it up. He' isn't the kind to do that.

wehohag, is this story part of the toothy tiles story? Jake and male in parking lot of mall? just don't see it, but could be true. people keep say gay, but I read he was bi-sexual.

----- Posted by: thom | Apr 21, 2006 5:53:04 PM

I don't think it is part of the toothy stuff because the guy who is my friend that saw it saw it back when we were in all high school and that was almost 2 yrs. ago. I've never read all the toothy things but I thought it was all just some gossip colum.

My guy friend would never lie about this. He just isn't the kind to do that. He has a sister that I went to school with at an all girls school and he went to an all boys school wiht my brother. Their at the same college now so I will ask him if it's part of all that toothy stuff, but I don't hink so.

----- Posted by: WeHoHag | Apr 21, 2006 8:53:04 PM

What I left out was that my friend was working for a temporary valet service when he saw this. When a restarant's regular valet would call in sick the restarant would call this service my friend worked for and they would send people to replace the sick ones. I will have to ask my friend what restarant it was, but I know it was a restarant and not a mall.

Did producer's bithch comments get deleted? The comments were interesting. P'sBitch if you are on site, I would like to know if (you) have any evidence of JG sexuallity since you say that everyone in W.Hollywood knows he is Gay! I have a freind who lives in W. Hollywood and told me that one of the actors in BBM looks familiar after he saw the movie. I was not aware of the rumors then.

----- Posted by: thom | Apr 22, 2006 4:43:39 PM

hey, NYCER - - that is NOT what I said. I did NOT say my friend slept with him. I said that two years ago my friend was working as a temp valet and saw him with an older man. They didn't know anyone was watching and they were very close and it looked like they were kissing. They were in line at a restaurant to turn their car over to the valet and there were several cars on in front of them. They didn't expect the valet to come up to them and take their car until they pulled in under the restaurant's garage thingy, so they got caught by surprise.

My friend would NOT lie. He even got Jakes autograph when they came out but said Jake would not let him take a pic. And like I said this was like two years ago.

You need to read the posts before you start accusing people of doing things they haven't. THAT's how shit get started.

We already saw that 9:39, we are talking about Datalounge gossip not Towerload.

Anonymous said...

Read again. We are talking about rumors of Jake sleeping with other men during the course of his relationship with Austin.

Anonymous said...

The 9:39 post says nothing about Jake sleeping with another man unless kissing is considered by you pearl clutchers as sleeping with some one. Course of his relationship with Austin? Wasn't he with Kiki when the Towerload thingy happened, 2004?

I love how wehohag second hand account on that thread changes the description to kissing an older man to standing close to him and they looked like they were kissing.

Anonymous said...

Wasn't he with Kiki when the Towerload thingy happened, 2004?

Jake was never just with Kiki, he didn't give up gay sex just because he was with her.

Anonymous said...

2005 - Jake was with Kiki and with Austin.

The 9:39 post says nothing about Jake sleeping with another man unless kissing is considered by you pearl clutchers as sleeping with some one.

Jake was kissing some man because he's affectionate, it has nothing to do with sex. LOL!

The sighting happened in 2004, not 2005. Simple math dummy.
The Anna Wintour thing was a nasty piece of "gossip" It's agood thing it was disclosed that the kid as 12 during the supposed fling.

There are some "fans" out there that clearly hate Jake to try to peg him as a pedophile.

No one said it was 2005.

Then why was 2005 the date given for both of them being together? Were they referring to the Towerload link? If not then why 2005? That's what happens when 2nd hand gossip gets repeated over several years, in this case five years.

Because Toothy Tile started in March 2005.

10:56 AM,

sorry that people aren't impressed with Jake as Prince of Persia.

Anonymous said...

I am still going to wait for the trailers. I just remember how alot of people's opinions about Heath changed dramtically once they saw the trailers for TDK.

Anonymous said...

We already saw a bit of PoP footage and Prince in action. How did you liked it, 11:12 AM?

Anonymous said...

I did see that bit of footage that was from ET(I think), but I need a bit more to get a better sense of the film.

What I did see, so far, leads me to think this could be good. If it can balance a sense of humor along with the drama and fantasy (ala Raiders and others), I think this could be really good. The film has a good director and some top notch actors in it. But I still want to see the more formal trailers.

Anonymous said...

We already saw a bit of PoP footage and it looked like every other sword and sandals movie.

Trailers - I expect them to concentrate on cool special effects.

ITA 7:00 a.m. about the trolling, Reeke and PoP.

And I said it before, but I'll say it again. A lot of Jake's beauty came from inside, and now that he's bottling everything up and turned into Reese's child, that's largely gone.

Anonymous said...

Far be it from me to defend the bitch who destroyed Jake, but I am not convinced it's Reese. A local would not mix up those communities.

Ted didn't mix up anything, he just said that SS has a pad in Beverly Hills.

Anonymous said...

Ted knows absolutely nothing. He has no clue what is going on in peoples lives.

I LOVE when Ted upsets stupid trolls. lol

Anonymous said...

Gawker and Ted are not the only ones to say Jake looks gay in Pop. And of course, saying Jake looks gay is only a problem if you think it is a bad thing to look gay, so to criticize Ted on that ground is ridiculous.

From Michael K:

Here's world-famous Persian movie actor Jakey G working the weave, leathah and swords in a new still for that Prince of Persia: Sands of Time mess which hits theaters next Summer. There's something about this that just screams "I Can't Believe It's Not Dick Butter" to me.

That being said, we all have to give clappity claps for Jakey's crotch bulge game. That's probably where he keeps his hair scrunchie. Jakey must have taken lessons from Soulja Boy. I'm not mad.

Anonymous said...

Wow, Soulja Boy is big! lol

Anonymous said...

I think they made a big mistake roiding Jake up. The prince in the game looks more natural.

ITA, but gays and some women love big muscles so maybe that's not so bad.

A Poet from Hollywood: The Secret History of the Gyllenhaals

The first six chapters of my upcoming memoir can now be found at Palamedes Review. Thanks to ex-boyfriend and itinerant ESL teacher Broad Freeman for the safe harbor.

Start here

The Secret History of the Gyllenhaals said...

Chapter O N E

“Suppose I do manage to get a reading for Stephen Gyllenhaal at some bookstore in New York. What I’m afraid is that the room will be packed with girls expecting to get a glimpse of Jake and they don’t buy anything.”

“Who’s Jake?” said Andy.

“Jake Gyllenhaal, Stephen’s son. They’re very close. The whole family’s very close. If his dad gave a reading, he’d come to support him.” This was right around the Jarhead craze but a couple of months before Brokeback Mountain was released.

“Oh yeah, that guy. Well, that is a risk,” said Andy. “What do you think you’ll do about it?”

At that point, I didn’t know what I’d do about it. I didn’t even know if we were even going to end up publishing his book. I’d sent Stephen the contract twice, but he kept insisting he never received it. The only thing I knew is that from the moment I first contacted him on the phone back in July, I’d entered into a strange relationship with him.
...

But just as brightly and swiftly, he [Stephen] turned the conversation to other matters. He explained how he got into poetry writing—it had been prescribed to him by his analyst, more or less, as therapy. With a fresh willing audience, he went on to talk about all sorts of things, from Socrates, “that old fraud” (he was taking a long-distance course from Columbia University), to the movie business. “Dinosaurs! They’re all dinosaurs!” he exclaimed.

The Secret History of the Gyllenhaals said...

Chapter T W O

But interspersed in the manuscript were other poems, still unpublished. Poems of confident style and immense feeling about his family, his father and mother, his son and daughter, his wife. The ones about his wife were the most emotionally complex, mixing as they did tenderness and fleeting joy with bitterness, loss, regret. They were poems dedicated to a stronger spouse by a weaker one, and they spoke to me at the deepest level.

So dear reader, here it is, the first irony in this story: I began to fall in love with Stephen Gyllenhaal through the poems he had written to his wife Naomi.
...

People would ask his name and I’d tell them. “You mean that Donnie Darko guy?” they would say. And I’d have to correct them, “No, that’s his son Jake. Stephen’s been a Hollywood director for over twenty years. He’s won awards.” They’d ask me to name some of his movies, then shrug at most of the titles until I got to Losing Isaiah. At that name they’d brighten. “Oh yeah, Jessica Lange and Halle Berry. My mother loved that movie.” It seemed that Losing Isaiah was the one and only artistic endeavor that got Stephen any respect from the general audience.

Then in late 2005 the media storm began.

It was heralded by the photo of a cute, smiling, brown-eyed [???] young man on the cover of USA Weekend magazine which bore the title, “Find Out Why Jake Gyllenhaal is the Hot Talent You Should Know Now.” We usually didn’t pick up the Sunday paper but the moment I saw Jake’s face we bought a copy. The article about him was the main article of the magazine, and it was a long one. It talked about his two upcoming movies, Jarhead and Brokeback Mountain, both of which were sure to make him a household name.
...

At this point, dear reader, I think I’m going to have to share with you one of Stephen’s poems so you don’t think Michael and I are complete lunatics.

At 25

a man now stand you
on roots no one can claim
as good as you
(pure born god-son
look at you anywhere
across the globe).

At birth you were blue
I witnessed you suck
that first breath in and turn
as white as snow on top
of Everest. Pure. Pure.
Goodness and Mercy.

Jumble of words my only
clue to give to you
for your mountain view

to burn the libraries
and burn us too
(all that’s come
before you.)

Your (my side) grandfather’s
head handed him
on a silver Salome platter (he knew
more than he could hold on to)
and your great grandfather
stumbled and I shamble
and out of the phoenix ash
of my/your ancestral men you flew
out of the John Baptist ash
you flew beyond the pebbles
in the Jordan where we, the men
before you wash our sad, sad feet

but not for naught—the truth
when sung soothes far beyond
all gold.

I remember your grandfather
(not sober) singing, weeping
in my high gliding stone dead
gothic church—

“A voice of one, crying
in the wilderness, prepare ye
the way of the Lord.”

I remember holding you, screaming
with good rage in a Sea Ranch night.
Taking you outside under the moon
and the giant pines—screaming, screaming.
Holding you. I didn’t know what else to do.
Kicking. Screaming with good rage
till you slowly trembled yourself into rest.

Forgive us, Lord, we know
not what we do.

Good rage. Burn us to the ground.
Good rage. So little good seems
to have come of John the Baptist
and what followed. Your grandfather
loved John the Baptist. Wept and sung
his words and went too easily
into their good night
which I won’t do.

All these words and others too
are here for you, may they be true.

I hope you agree that this is a beautiful poem. But you see, it’s also about Jake Gyllenhaal, and this was always going to be part of our problem.

Chapter T H R E E

In the end, actress and Gyllenhaal family friend Jamie Lee Curtis wrote the Introduction. She did it at Stephen’s personal last-minute request, writing it in a few minutes and delivering it to me by email via Stephen the next morning. It’s a generous, intelligent piece of writing and it sounds just like her. I’m still so glad to have it in the book.
...

As I said, from the beginning of our relationship Stephen had assured me that his “amazing” (his word) wife and kids were ready to help out with promoting his book. I wasn’t so sure about the kids but he couldn’t stop talking about them—announcing to me how he planned to read Claptrap in a national reading tour along with Jake and Maggie, for example. It would have been sublime, though with their movie-star schedules I strongly doubted that this would happen.
...

About two that afternoon Stephen called again, but this time I was around to answer the phone. “I tried to reach you this morning,” he told me mournfully. “Look, something’s come up. We, uh, we’ve just had a family conclave—” I swear he used the word conclave— “and we’ve come to a decision. We want you to remove all your references everywhere to Jake and Maggie.”

A stony silence on my part, then, “O-kay...”

He pressed on. “The thing is, you don’t realize what it’s like for us here. It’s insane! The kids can’t go anywhere without being mobbed! It’s like nothing we’ve ever seen before! Our friends Joanne Woodward and Paul Newman tell us it’s like nothing they’ve ever seen before!”

“It’s cell phone cameras,” I said. “It’s the internet.”

“No, it’s not that,” countered Stephen. “People are insane. When you’ve got people in this administration who can start an illegal war and rob this country of billions of dollars, you can see that everyone’s gone insane. You know, right after the Oscars these people would come up to me and say things like, ‘Well, you’ve got it made now. Just put Jake in a movie and you can have any deal you want.’ But you know what?” he paused, then intoned darkly and intensely, “I would rather starve in the streets than take that money! That’s not my money. That’s my children’s money, and their children’s children after them.” He sighed and seemed to calm down. “So, the family just took a vote. I think I said something about that…?”

“I think so.”

“We made a decision never to be photographed together in public ever again. The kids have got to be protected, you know.”

Chapter F O U R

It didn’t take long for Stephen to relax and open up. He started off talking about Jake and Maggie, of course, how brilliant they were, how much more on the ball they were than their parents. “We wanted to give Howard Dean a lot of money, but the kids saw right through him,” he told us. He dropped names. He dropped the name of fellow author Ethan Hawke. Hawke had recently written two novels, to tepid reviews. He had also been the juvenile lead in Stephen’s film Waterland, and had once lived in a room above the garage of the former Gyllenhaal residence in Hancock Park, a wealthy neighborhood in the heart of Los Angeles. “But we will never forgive him for what he did to Uma,” Stephen muttered darkly, shaking his head.

He also dropped the names, once again, of Joanne Woodward and Paul Newman, as well as the names of a few politicians on the national scene. He spoke admiringly of Bill Clinton, who at that time had a summer home close to theirs on Martha’s Vineyard. Stephen hinted that Jake and Chelsea had been something of an item when they were teenagers. Perhaps it was reminiscing about mingling with influential people that prompted him to remark to us with a kind of wonderment, “You know, we have lot of power in Hollywood”—the “we”, I’m guessing, referring to Team Gyllenhaal.

Finally mellow from the wine and the good food, he got around to a subject close to his heart. He spoke about “putting it all together”—his family experiences, how he felt about the Hollywood rat race, his struggle with his writing.
...

“As a matter of fact I grew up on the Vineyard.” My heart leapt at the coincidence. I asked her if she knew the Gyllenhaals. “They have a house in Chilmark they come to every summer,” she said. Close to the Clintons? I asked. “No, nowhere close!” she exclaimed. She went on to describe the kind of neighborhood Chilmark was, as well as neighborhoods like Oak Bluff and Vineyard Haven, and the differences between them.

Did she ever meet the family? “I used to see the parents around the island a lot,” she said. “Sometimes Jake and Maggie. I think Jake used to be a lifeguard.”

“So, what do you think about them?” I asked, my heart starting to race a little.

She shrugged her shoulders. “Hm.”

Chapter F I V E

Michael asked me how I knew—I told him that the gossip sites had posted paparazzi pictures of the three of them on the beach just that morning. He was aghast to find out how little time it took for even the most low-key of the family’s activities to be broadcast across the internet. Personally, I liked it. Wherever Jake went, the paparazzi were likely to be lurking about, so wherever Jake went with his dad, I was sure to get a glimpse of Stephen.
...

With the book now positively “going through”, he was filled with all sorts of new plans. Although he’d stopped bringing up the possibility of touring with Jake and Maggie, he talked now, for example, about doing joint readings with Ethan Hawke. “I thought you said you didn’t like him,” I reminded Stephen, to which he answered with a nervous laugh, “I don’t. But we’re still friends.”
...

When I returned to Michael twenty minutes later I couldn’t hide it from him that I was upset. He asked me what was wrong. I spat it out in acid little bullets:

“Jake. Doesn’t. Like. The. Cover.”

Michael, not quite understanding, asked me to repeat what I’d just said, which I did: According to his father, 25 year-old Jake Gyllenhaal, Oscar nominee, star of major films and therefore someone eminently qualified to offer his opinion on book aesthetics, had informed Stephen of his displeasure at the cover of Claptrap.

I recounted more of our conversation. “First of all, I reminded the idiot that he was the one who gave me the photo to use in the first place. In fact he insisted we use it. He told me to trust him because he had a great eye for these things.”

“You mean that fuzzy picture of the back of that guy’s head,” said Michael.

“Yeah,” I said. “That’s Peter Sarsgaard on the red carpet at the LA premiere of Jarhead.”

“How do you know this?”

“Because way back when Stephen told me over the phone he was sending me the .jpg, he said it was Peter Sarsgaard on the red carpet at the LA premiere of Jarhead.”

“And now he’s telling you that the picture he not only sent you, but the picture he insisted you use for the cover of the book, is a picture that Jake doesn’t like.”

“Oh, it’s worse than that,” I said. “He’s now denying that it’s Peter. You know what he just said? He said that he’ll ‘never reveal the true identity’. He said, ‘My lips are sealed forever’.”
...

I met Stephen who was already waiting at the steps, talking on his Blackberry. We stood there punching each other’s arms until he his finished his conversation, and went in. It was four o’clock and the place was just opening up, the bartender had already started work. I sidled up with Stephen to the bar.

“This is great,” he remarked brightly, looking around. “Jake would love this.”

“No one cares about Jake here,” I muttered embarrassedly, catching the bartender’s eye.
...

As nonchalantly as I could I asked, “By the way, is Jake going to be at the reading?”

Stephen pressed his lips together and smoothly answered, “No. He has to stay in Los Angeles to do pickup shots for Zodiac.”

I breathed a sigh of relief. “Good,” I said quietly but still audibly enough, I’m afraid, that he heard. I regretted this immediately as I was turning over that pickup shots excuse in my mind. And while I was looking and looking at Stephen, searching, I guess, for some expression on his face that would tell me positively whether or not it was the truth, it hit me:

Jake was planning to stay away for his father’s sake. And Stephen knew it.

It was then my heart went out to him completely and unreservedly and I thought, Anywhere you want, I’ll go, anything you want, I’ll get you.

Chapter S I X

Feeling the buttons still in my hand, I remembered the two ladies Chaya and I had seen from the mezzanine. They were sitting right behind us. I turned around and asked them if they’d like a couple of souvenirs.

“Sure!” said one. I gave them each a button and asked them where they were from. “Ohio,” said the other. I asked them if they were here because they were tourists in town looking for something to do for free, and had seen the listing.

“Oh no,” said the other. “We came to New York for this.”

I wasn’t sure I heard them right. “You can’t mean,” I said slowly and deliberately, “that you came up to New York specifically to attend this reading.”

They brightened. “Oh yes!” they both said. “We love the Gyllenhaals!”

It took a moment for this to sink in. Then I had a flash of intuition. “So…are you with JakeWatch or IHeartJake?”

“IHeartJake,” said one. The other nodded.
...

The book was nearing completion and I had told Stephen that he was going to need a headshot photo for the back cover, fast. Hollywood being filled with photographers who specialize in actor’s headshots, I remarked that this should present no problem. But Stephen told me he could go me one better—he’d ask a friend with a camera to take his picture.

Well, the “friend with a camera” turned out to be Oscar-nominated (and eventually Oscar-winning) cinematographer Robert Elswit. Elswit had been the Director of Photography on two of Stephen’s movies, Waterland and A Dangerous Woman. In one of those show-business-is-a-small-town coincidences, he had also been the Director of Photography for Boogie Nights, the film that, as I mentioned earlier, based its main character on a porn director I once worked for.

Obligingly, Elswit dropped in at their house on Mulholland Drive one Sunday afternoon and proceeded to shoot Stephen in a single straight session. I have to tell you, when I got the CD in the mail from Stephen and proceeded to check out one picture after another—there were about thirty—I got a real frisson. It felt like I was viewing objects of art in an exclusive gallery. Elwit’s photos were the work of a master, beautifully composed, but fresh and candid. And they made Stephen look sexy, yet very intellectual, very literary indeed. It was going to be difficult choosing the one to be Stephen’s “official” portrait.

Finally I came to the last four pictures. Michael, who was looking over my shoulder, said, “What the hell is Jake doing there?”

I wondered that myself. When I called Stephen later to tell him I got the disk of photos, I asked him why he’d also sent me pictures of him with his son.

“Oh, you like them?” he said. “Jake was over at the house that day so Bob included him. He looks great, doesn’t he?”
...

Chapter S I X

So, swallowing my feelings of dread, I visited the fan sites. IHeartJake was an elaborate site that was difficult to negotiate. I skimmed through some of the forum postings to get a sense of what was going on, but I couldn’t find my pictures. In contrast, JakeWatch was a straightforward blog and easy to read. My favorite portrait of Jake and Stephen was prominently on display at JakeWatch all right, the lovely one with both of them in profile. An amusing caption had been added, and the comments ranged from exclamations of praise—“Wow, I can’t believe you got this yummy new pic of Jake! JakeWatch rocks!!”—to remarks of concern—“What did you use, a telephoto lens? This looks like a private moment in their home and I don’t feel comfortable looking at it.” Oh yes, I was surely going to be on Naomi’s death list.

Nevertheless, intrigued by the devotion of the fans, I started to read other entries and comments at JakeWatch. A lot of them were funny, thoughtful and well-informed. The fans were aware of the more public comings and goings of the family, but they were also familiar with their body of work, on screen and on stage, and discussed them intelligently. Most of the postings concerned Jake of course, but some were about Maggie, one or two were about Naomi, and a surprising number were about Stephen. “There are some of us here,” said one entry, “who think Stephen is even more attractive than his son.”
A little light went on in my head.

That evening I emailed the administrator of JakeWatch a formal message. Identifying myself as Stephen’s publisher, I informed her that I was the owner of the photograph she’d posted, that by posting it she was in violation of international copyright law, and I demanded that she take it down. I figured if Naomi were somehow ever to learn of the accidental exposure of her son, maybe she’d also see that I tried to rectify the situation in a Naomi-type way, and be merciful. If the administrator ignored me, or replied with a fuck-you attitude, I was sunk. Really, there’s not much you can do to recall material once it’s posted on the internet.

Fortunately, the administrator was a young student living in northern England who was very apologetic. Not only did she take the picture down from her site, she contacted the administrator of IHeartJake, who took down all the pictures from her site as well.

But I didn’t want to leave it at that. There was interest in Stephen shown by a handful of JakeWatch fans and I wanted somehow to tap into it. When the administrator emailed to tell me the pictures had been removed, I replied to her in a softer tone, thanking her, which prompted her to ask the question that gave me my opportunity: “Does Jake know about us?”

I emailed her back, telling her in so many words that the Gyllenhaals were familiar with what was being said about them on the internet. Of course they all took the high road, ignoring the sites that attempted to pry into their private affairs and pander to the crudest opinions. But they also appreciated responsible, respectful sites like JakeWatch and their friendly rival, IHeartJake, where fans were obviously more interested in Jake and Maggie’s careers rather than their personal lives.

Reader, I confess to a minor deception. No such appreciation from the Gyllenhaals existed. In fact, to hear it from Stephen, he and the whole family regarded any reference to them at all on the internet as an intrusion and an insult. There were official fan sites for Jake and Maggie, but they were run by their respective publicists and were consistently incomplete, out-of-date, and of course offered their fans no opportunity to interact with the objects of their admiration.

The Secret History of the Gyllenhaals said...

Chapter S I X

After he was convinced that they were actually interested in his work, Stephen was easily persuaded to give the fans of JakeWatch and IHeartJake his very first interview in his new role as a man of letters. Because of this interview, these fans believed that they had established a special relationship with Papa Gyllenhaal; they had every right to believe it. Remember this when you read in a later chapter about the notorious falling-out between Stephen and his admirers at the Zinc Bar reading a few months later in October, forever to be known to Jake fans as “Babygate”.

But on this warm June evening, all was still rosy in the Gyllenhaal fan world, and that was how two ladies from Ohio came to be sitting behind Michael and me at Housing Works. Their devotion was so touching I felt honor-bound to tell them, “You know, Jake won’t be able to make it tonight.”

The one on the left piped up immediately. “Oh, that’s okay, we love all the Gyllenhaals.”
...

He was holding his Blackberry. “I think I’ve finally got a spare minute to call Jake in LA and tell him how I did.”

“Yes, tell him all about it,” I said. Then with all the vehemence I could muster, I blurted out, “Tell him you did it all by yourself! Isn’t this what you wanted? You did it all by yourself! Are you happy now?”

Stephen laughed, an easy laugh this time. “Of course.”

Stephen isn't that bad after all.

3. ONCE
A labor of love for all involved (the director struggled for years to get the film made and the two leads ended up a real-life couple), this musical Irish indie tells the simple, sweet story of a budding relationship (and artistic partnership) between a street musician (Glen Hansard), made bitter by a failed romance, and a Czech immigrant (Markéta Irglová) with her own complicated affairs. Together they make beautiful music: the soundtrack was nominated for a Grammy, and the opening track, ''Falling Slowly,'' won an Oscar.

4. BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN
The cool move here would be to ignore the fact that Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal enacted a truly groundbreaking love story — and simply concentrate on what a gorgeous, nuanced, heartbreaking movie Brokeback is for people of any sexual orientation. But Ang Lee's undeniably romantic movie did break ground. It reached, and moved, mainstream audiences in ways that no ''gay'' movie ever had before.

I can't believe I sat and read the full chapters. Even if half is true it explains why they are all in therapy.

Stephen is an odd duck with lots of issues. I wonder if he believes in what he says or it's just a Hollywood thing. I love how he drank when he wasn't with his family. He should be on a couch for hours a day.

I kind of feel bad for Naomi. This is the man she married and stayed with. I'd be hostile too. I don't blame her for packing up the food (especially when they later had money issues). But, why would you give your pregnant daughter food people picked through?

Peter came off as nice. Guess he drank the koolade.

Poor Jake. Pretended his family was great. They are a mess like the rest of us. It really explains why he was with or "with" Kiki. I wonder if he drinks. Whether or not he's with or "with" Reese, she seems a lot more stable than these people. I'm not saying she's nice or a good person, but orderly and stable. I bet he needs that.

THE AWL: Do you have siblings?
MICHAEL K: Yeah, I have a younger sister who lives in Brooklyn. She’s a kindergarten teacher.

THE AWL: Ha! Sorry, I don’t know why that’s funny.
MICHAEL K: Yeah, we’re complete opposites, different sides of the planet. But I see her all the time. Our family is really close because it’s just us three, my dad left when I was three. But she reads the site, too.

Jake Gyllenhaal looks mawkish in Prince of Persia shot

Actor Jake GysahlGreens seems to look perpetually doe-eyed and confused in every Prince of Persia shot I've seen. Still, here he is looking much more like the titular Prince than ever before, even if his face does resemble that of a child who just dropped his ice cream on a cat and is watching the cat run away with it on its back.

This is the first official picture from Jerry Bruckheimer's take on The Sands of Time. The picture is apparently available in Entertainment Weekly with much better quality, so if you're fixing to masturbate over this, you can do it to that one.

"I'm tired of taking myself so seriously," says GysahlGreens. "It's nice when a stuntman turns to you and is like, 'Actors don't normally do this.'"

He's right, of course, Proper actors don't normally appear in videogame movies.

I bet Jim Sterling summed up Jake's performance for the entire movie. Poor Jake, the reaction to the POP poster has been overwhelmingly negative everywhere. And this is before anyone has heard him with the soft spoken fake English accent. I can imagine the movie reviewers just being brutal on their reviews. Wonder how loyal of a girlfriend old Reese will be when Jake has not just a box office bomb, but a bomb of such large and expensive proportions. Maybe Karma is coming back to bite Jake in the ass.

Anonymous said...

Because of all of the sad, bitter types who are praying that POP fails, just to hurt another human being, I hope it is a massive success.

That would be their karma.

Anonymous said...

Nobody is praying for POP to fail, don't be naive!
It's a PR plot to raise no expectations at first. Then say, wow it's so much better than expected.

Anonymous said...

First off, no one wishes PoP to fail. I had a dream it'll fail, but all my dreams turn out the other way around. So there's hope it'll be fine.
Second, Jake should have waited for a better franchise. But boy was so desperate for a frachise for years that he happily agreed to do PoP when they offered it to him.
Brothers, Nailed and the flick with pretty Anne sound all fine to me. PoP was not necessary. He's still a young guy, Depp got his first franchise with 40! But let's see how this'll turn out.

I found myself reading some of Cantera's writings this morning and I got so bored to death I fell back to sleep. What is the purpose of her writing these essays. Who is gonna read them. Except maybe the Jake is gay crowd and the blabbers who are scared to death he is not straight crowd.

I see nothing that embarrasses the Gyllenhaal family at all. They sound boring and a little dysfunctional like the rest of us. She certainly knows nothing about Jakes sex life or sexuality. Sounds like a women obsessed with a man like some of us are obbessed with Jake. Or should I say for myself Jakes sexuality.

One thing I do get a kick out of is how she is glorifying Jake Watch and IHR. I think this is more of a shun to WFT, WFT2, and OMG. For some reason I think maybe Cantara is a bobblehead herself. Not quite sure why? But interesting. I will read some more of her stuff the next time I have insomnia:-)

Tom, stop playing dumb. When you were posting on WTF as tom86 you were well aware she slammed WTF and DC forum, Omg wasn't around then. She then, barely apologized to DC.

Either you are playing dumb or your memory is shot.

She always loved JW and IHJ. That's why I find it amusing the facination with this woman here and on OMG and her rantings are ignored on IHJ and GB, since JW has closed.

What Cantara is posting isn't gossip. She hates this site bbut you go there giving it hits, probably the only hits she gets.

7:56am Man my memory must be bad. I dont remember posting as Tom86.

I think Cantara did blast WFT(probably thought it would get her into Stephens bed) but I was talking about the essays I read this morning only.

Cantara has the right to write whatever she feels. I am just not sure why she thinks anyone is interested in the Gyllenhaals. She is not a bad writer. She should just find a topic people care about. The truth is the only thing that has ever been interesting about the family is Jakes sexuality.

Anonymous said...

Yes, it is.

gossip - idle talk, usually about other people's private lives, esp. of a disapproving or malicious nature

I doubt many people from WFT2 or OMG are going to Cantaras site. What I read was what was copied and pasted by someone onto WFT2. I have no clue who posted it.

A WFT poster posted it here and posted the link here. If you go to other jake sites, you don't see her crappy writing there.

Who cares what Cantara or anyone else thinks about WFT, WFT2 or OMG?

Know your enemy! lol

Anonymous said...

Apparently you do.

Your "enemy" is an open book, has been since day one: Using Jake's online fandom to sell Stephen's crappy book of poetry. Unfortunately Jake's fandom online is pretty much dead. No more Jake watch and IHJ to exploit. JW closed and Ally at IHJ has long left the Jake fandom leaving Stephanie who has other interests.

She can't exploit GB and WDW because of her dealings with JW and IHJ and she hates WFT2 and OMG and the Jake fans on DC have all but disappeared.

No one has any interest in reading about the phony, broke,Gyllenhaals, even you. You won't admit it though. You must be disappointed that she sems to know little or nothing about Jake but that was apparent from day one.

Anonymous said...

We are interested in Gyllenhaals because we are interested in Jake, duh!

Wasn't there an Ent. Lawyer blind item about an A-list actress who nobody would ever suspect was interested in another woman that people were guessing might be Reese?

February 18, 2008

Quite honestly this is one of the best pieces of gossip I have heard in the past six months. I actually heard about it on Friday and was so jazzed by it that I almost posted over the weekend because I didn't want to wait until today.

These A+ list female film actresses (when I say A+, there is no wishy washy, they are A+) are really different, but they do have one very big thing in common. A woman. That's right. While one of the A+ listers is no stranger to women, the other A+ lister is, or would have the world believe she is. However, each of our A+ listers separately spent several months with a woman who must be magnificent or beautiful or extremely talented in the bedroom to attract the interest of these A+ listers. The only thing these two A+ listers have in common is the huge amount of money they get for making films. The fact that these two completely different personalities and looks could both fall for the same woman just boggles the mind. That, and the fact that at least one of the A+ listers has never shown a propensity to spend time with the same team. This one blew me away.

^Old article about the CDAN blind item:

March 8 2008

Blind Item: Is Reese Witherspoon a Lesbian?

So I stumbled upon this very interesting Blind Item on Crazy Days and Nights. This sounds a lot like Reese Witherspoon.

“These A+ list female film actresses are really different, but they do have one very big thing in common. While one of the A+ listers is no stranger to women, the other A+ lister would have the world believe she is. However, each of our A+ listers separately spent several months with a woman who must be extremely talented in the bedroom to attract the interest of these A+ listers. The only thing these two have in common is the huge amount of money they get for making films. The fact that these two completely different personalities and looks could both fall for the same woman just boggles the mind.”

But what is even more interesting is that the NY Post recently posted this similar Blind Item:

“WHICH sweetheart Oscar winner doesn't always have a heart as golden as her locks? She's known for introducing her best friend for 10 years as ‘my assistant’ when around other Hollywood types.”

Now it is pretty obvious they are talking about Reese there with the sweetheart & golden locks reference (she won Best Actress for Walk the Line).

But what is really noteworthy here is the mention of hiding a “friend” as an assistant, which is what all closeted homosexuals in Hollywood do (i.e. Queen Latifah’s “trainer,” Jodie Foster’s “assistant”).

There has also been speculation of Reese’s “boyfriend” Jake Gyllenhaal being gay, so maybe their entire relationship is a big sham. Is Reese his beard?

Well, I consider the chin liking women a bad news - it's one more reason for the fauxmance!

Anonymous said...

I'm posting this here w/o a link because they wouldn't appreciate a fangirl invasion on the site. This is a gay porn site basically but they have a gossip forum. I think it's funny that they link to GB. They believe Jake and Reese are legit BTW. The below comments are about the H. Bowl drunk picks and comments copied from GB. This gay site also links to IHJ. No links to here or OMG.:

more Gyllenbabel/updates:

although i get so tired of watching her trying to domesticate him (its too soon, damn it) ...

...Reese scored BIG points with me by getting totally wasted while returning from Jenny Lewis and Ray LaMontagne's show at the Hollywood Bowl. The paparazzi were relentless but my Jake saved the day.

Anonymous said...

"comments copied from GB"

Copy / paste from GB? Are you saying that babblers/Jack post on that gay porn site?

Anonymous said...

I think it's funny that they link to GB.

I bet that's Jeff / Jack / trolly's work! lol

Anonymous said...

The guy on the gay site is a long time member and lives in L.A. He's a Jake fan and like a lot of Jake fans, he comes across stuff through google for instance and posts there. GB comes comes up on google as a Jake blog as does WDW and Jake weird some times and of IHJ comes up.

The guys on that site also posts stuff from other fan sites as well.

So no, Jack and the babblers are not registered there and zi doubt that they know that place exisits. Don't think Jack would post personal pics of him and his BF, the sight is very explicit, LOL!!

Most likely they came across GB and thought the captions were funny, just thought that they don't think Jake is gay on that site.

Anonymous said...

I see, they don't care about Jake gossip.

Anonymous said...

Don't care or don't believe he is gay. There are plenty of other threads on actors they think are gay though. There is a thread that just posts pics of him, the latest is the official Pop pic which they liked for the most part. When they do post it's Jake and Reese which is what they do with a lot of the other actors.

I just thoght that it was interesting that I couldn't find any Jake is gay threads but there was for instance James Franco is gay threads.

Anonymous said...

They don't care enough about Jake.
