Heath's Birthday
I remember a conversation with Robert Richardson, the Director of Photography on "Four Feathers": "Just make sure that the audience are able to look into Heath's eyes. They tell a story of ancient wisdom and all of humanity." Not an easy job for a DP when Heath would so easily break into an Australian crinkle and narrow his eyes, so that the point of light so carefully placed by the DP would search desperately for its subject! I used to tell Heath that he was an ancient soul in a youthful body and mind. That his struggle was between the ancient wisdom he carried in his soul and coming to terms with his youth.
That struggle showed and I - the 'brother from another mother' as he called me - embraced him at those moments.
I wish I was there to embrace him when he passed away. I was so close. But then, it was not meant to be.

Let's say Heath was a nasty, homophobic ass and hated Jake and wanted to distance himself from him and BBM. Then I have a few questions.
First, why did Jake seem to like him so much, if Heath avoided him?
Second, why did Heath make him godfather (even if it was "just" a symbolic gesture)? Why has Todd Hayness (the openly gay director of I'm Not There) such a high opinion of Heath? Or why was Heath a good friend of the gay singer Michael Stipe?
I'm honestly curious, not wanting to start a fight, really.

When was the fighting incident between Kiki and Jake? Was it during TDAT promo? Because that couldn't have been it what pissed her that of, because some time after BBM shoot we have pics of her and Jake looking quite friendly.

So Maggie hooked them up in 2002, his PR lied about them breaking up in 2004 because there are pics of them as pointed out and they were clearly together, then in Feb. of 2005 they supposedly got together at some Oscar party over the objections of Maggie who had a falling out the Drunkst.
I think it was explained that Jake and Drunkst pretended to breakup so the paps would leave them alone bu that made no sense since they appeared at places where the pasp hung out.

Jake and Kiki "got back together" was just publicity, I bet they were over long before Winter 2005.
Bottom Line is, most gay men hated Heath because they thought he was a homophobe and avoided Jake.

Jake didn't do anything to piss off Jake, if anything it was the other way around: Kiki got hooked on smack, shot it between her toes. All the whispers in HW about her became louder and made it difficult for to secure roles. Kiki was tarnished now in Jake's and his PR. He "reunited" with her in '05 to suit his own image, didn't matter that seh was now officially hooked, when it got real bad, he dumped her for good at the end of 2005.

10:01: Oh yes people did care about the Kiki drug rumors going back to 2004, around the time they supposedly broke up. She was having a hard time getting insured for roles, managed to for Marie Antoinette, but kept low key after that and refused to go to rehab. Everyone in HW knew, just because you didn't red about in the rags or gossip blogs doesn't mean there wasn't concern. When you say nobody cared in 05/08 about Kiki's drug use, you are talking about people like you who follow gossi,industry people were/are very aware. They kept a lid on it for a while because she was A-list. Jake was living with her when she began shooting smack betwen her toes.
His PR may have wanted Jake to hooked up with any women, but Kiki was damaged goods in late 04-05 and wanted him away from her. Jake cared about Kiki and most likely ignored his PR at first and tried to help her by getting back together with her but he should have talked her into rehab instead.
At the end of '05 he finally listened to his PR and dumped her for good.
She is still isn't clean and is seen stumbling out of clubs.
Rumor has it that RDJ isn't clean either but he is more "quiet" about and looks stable, she doesn't.

Kiki lobbied hard to get Jake for Spiderman 2 when Tobey "Hurt his back": drugs. He even auditioned for it, there was a video of it and it was posted on IHJ for 2 seconds before the studio made them remove it.
When Drunkst went into rehab for "depression",she made a public apology to Toby, it wasn't specific. Some though that it had to do with Toby and Kiki dating breifly during the filming of Spiderman 1 and something she did to him then, but most think it was because she was pushing for Jake at a time when Tobey was trying to clean up his act.
Tobey and Jake seem to be Ok now making Brothers together and such but at the time bet Tobey was pissed.
The Jake list was actually a mention by Lainey when she wrote about pissy/whiny Jake during the awards season in '06.
He was pissed at his people for not pushing him and jarheadharder, he was really dissapointed that it didn't take off as he had hoped although that had nothing to do with his PR. At one time, IHJ had photos of him crying with her. I think it was after a lunch.
From a vague recollection, I'd say they walked around a corner, stood against a wall, he was leaning over her as if to kiss. Next he's crying.

Depending on the date of the crying pictures it could have been around the time his Uncle died which would have been around May/June of 2005. At a book reading on MV with his father, some described Jake near tears when his father read the poem about the Uncle that passed away.

I have often wondered about the amount of "male" stories put out about her. You hear nothing about her for ages and then the only thing to report is she's "dating" or "cozy" with some guy she's been seen standing next to. People think she's goes through a lot of guys but does she? Or is it just her people covering up for the fct she ain't dating any guy right now?

I don't think Heath was messed up. He was extremely shy. He once said that people would ask him why he would be so uncomfortable in interviews, and he responded that he was shy. And he couldn't understand why other people couldn't understand that.
I agree he was beautiful and gifted. I had always hoped that given time ( and I am one of those who believe that he and Jake were friends) he could have played a part in drawing Jake into a more creative approach to acting and life. I think Jake adored him and had great respect for him. You could see that Heath was reconstituting his life and was preparing to take off in so many interesting directions: the work with the Masses, his directing, even going for the grand master level in chess, as well as his acting choices. I can't think of any other actor of Jake's generation who could have been more inspirational. There certainly isn't anyone like that the Jake knows currently. I think Heath might have been the mentor that Jake could use.

But 12:12, I thought the recent bike pics with Jake and Austin was supposed to be the evidence that Jake and Austin are still together and everything is fine. Unless I read you wrong, you seem to think that there is a possibility that Jake and Austin may not be as secure as some want to think. But if that's true, why wouldn't Ted report that. He's reported on their problems in the past.
I myself am not as sure about the implications of the bike pics as others. I don't think it was a pr slip. To be fair to his family and friends, we don't know if they tried to help or not. We can't just assume they didn't.
Also whether he abused the pills he was on or whether he used them for problems he actually really had, we can not know. "Syringers"? I don't think so! He didn't inject anything he mixed 6 pills which he swallowed. MKO was probably just an acquaintance he ment in one of the clubs he went to.

Let's try to get this straight. Heath did not mix the drugs together and take them. They were not all taken at the same time. There were only traces of 6 pills found in his system. That is part of what caused the problem. Some of the drugs had been in his blood stream for at least 24 hours. People don't often realize that drugs can stay in your system for such long periods of time. So you can be mixing drugs that could kill you in combination and not even realize it. These same sort of mistakes kill thousands of people every year.
The pills found in his system were for the treatment of his back pain, insomnia and anxiety attacks. Heath lived alone. Did you expect his family and friends to live with him and monitor what he was taking? Heath died from the mix of prescription drugs. It was an accident. There were no illegal drugs found in his system or around him. He may used Coke or other illegal stuff in the past, but it was the past. There was not evidence of any of that kind of use going on when he died. That was evident from the medical examiner's report.
I find it interesting that when some of you try to tarnish Heath you can't even get the basic information correct.

3:20, referring to a best male bud, without using quotes, is part of what some of us are talking about. Ted was talking about how Jake can show everyone he is secure. People had talked about Jake being afraid to be seen in public with men because of the gay rumors. So going biking with a guy would be a way to show people that he isn't afraid. Pr was obviously okay with it. But Ted doesn't imply, or identify, that the guy with Jake is his boyfriend.
Referring to someone as Jake's best bud doesn't mean anything. Ted once used the same expression to describe Jake's relationship with Heath. I think 1:33 and 2:28 have a point. "GF" is not the sam as "beard." And that is definately a reference to Reese, not Grey Goose Austin.

I know they said that back in 2005 and into 2006, I still think it is a bit different for them to id Jake as TT back then when they were running the blind items all the time and with everyone guessing Jake. It was in the air, so to speak. Saying it now like this out of the blue when there are probably new readers who don't know, and while Jake is bearding, just has a different tone to it, in my opinion.

I have no problem discussing Heath, Michelle, Anne, Austin, Chris, Atticus, Boo, DCF, Reese, bearding, gay rights, politics, etc. but when a new mention of TT comes out, in fact any slightest mention of TT that Ted makes, I don't think it's unrealistic for me to expect that people in a TT blog would want to talk about it. Kiki is a junkie, rehab didn't work. She has been on smack for years and also while she was with Jake. In the beggining it didn't effect her work and the whispers were low-key and Jake wasn't "tarnished" with it. After awile when it became obvious Kiki had a "problem" and Jake'sPR went into panic and released a statement in '04 that they had broken up.
They stil continued to see each other off and on until late '05 when evn Jake admitted that she was a "problem".
Kiki's bloddy feet are signs of her shooting up, i guess she ran out of places between her toes to shoot.

I think Jake likes convenience. He is used to Austin, trusts him. I don't know if he'd move on from him that quickly, unless a gay version of Heath turns up. But that probably won't happen anytime soon.

I just read some of the posts over at OMG. They are trying their best to make " little goose on the side" sound like some kind of reference to Baby Tile. A "lttle on the side" is a sexual reference. Ted answered a question about two relationships. There is nothing in the question or the answer that refers to any child.

8:09 I've been on DL since it existed and I remember the Ryan at the White party story was debunked almost immediately. Especially when he was in LA that weekend and those photos were linked. Some twink wannabe who looked very little like Ryan excited some deluded idiot. That is all. I've only heard of him being straight but very gay friendly. He worked with David LaChapelle way back before he was really well known, Greg Araki etc., he made 54 which had man on man action in the first cut at least. Ryan is a good guy. The White party was debunked but the gay for pay stuff came from NY during his stint on OLTL. Some were surprised that he hooked up with Reese after, but gay for pay means you did stuff to get roles and doesn't mean you are gay.
HW is full of gay for pay actors, when they get their foot in the door, no more need to to that anymore.
I believe some are upset because Ted's comments are not supporting their particular fantasy. He is saying that Jake wants this bearding relationship with Reese and wants it for as long as possible. This is about his career which is his primary concern which makes Reeke his primary relationship. But he does want to keep Austin as his side piece. For whatever reason, Austin can't bring himself to leave.
This is not supporting the idea that Jake is somehow using the bearding to "protect" his relationship with Austin. It especially puts the boot to the idea that Jake's relationship with Austin is really his primary focus, or that Austin is his real love. Jake is bearding for his career, not to protect Austin or any other gay relationship. Ted said nothing to reiterate the idea the Jake is still in love with Austin, but Austin is convient for the sex. Some people are too emotionally invested in Jaustin to accept any reality that may contradict the "true love" fairy tale.

All Ted had to do was use quote marks around the words "best bud" to imply the gay angle. Ted knows how words and implications are communicated in print. We know that whole point of that particular bit was to question Jake's sexuality. It was obvious, not subtle. But it was curious that when he had a chance to make reference to Jake's relationship with Austin, he didn't take it. He certainly could do so. Hell, even Perez did that.
The term "best bud" means nothing. Ted has uses that term all of the time to describe straight male friendships. That why if he wants to imply more, he would use quotes.

"a little goose on the side" is not a primary relationship in private or public. No "little ... on the side" relationship is ever primary. Ted could have contradicted the letter writer's assertion that Jake is no longer in love with Austin and is just using him.
Ted pointedly didn't.
The attempts to spin Ted's comments into something they aren't are silly. Might be time to let the fanfic go.
There is no way Jake is f..king Reese. They display absolutely no intimacy. Jake currently asexual? Possibly. He is not a man in control. Look at his body language. The stress has to be affecting his libido. Besides, Ted had said that even with Austin, Jake often needed the chance of being caught in public to get aroused. They broke up over it once. Can you see Reese doing it in a parking lot? No way.
Rather not see Reese, or even contemplate, doing "it" anywhere.
Austin certainly seems happy recently. Obviously he's content with the little side action he's getting.
Of course, little doesn't necessarily translate into infrequent. Could be exactly what he's doing on those mystery weekends is Jake.
Jake is a grown man who is making his own decisions. Some of you just need to accept that. You don't have to like them, but he's making them. That includes making the bearding the primary focus for the sake of his career and shunting Austin off to the side and only being with him when he needs him.
Austin is also making the decision to be treated like this. I just happen to think he's a spineless idiot for doing so.
For once, Ted's writing and meaning are pretty damn clear. It's amazing that it's upsetting some of you so much.
But no, he is not making his own decisions. He is being pushed by Disney, Reese, PR, the old HW homophobes. The boy looks on the verge of a nervous breakdown. And I use the term boy on purpose, not man. Ted reaffirms that the relationship is for PR purposes only.
