Sam Mendes to open film festival
The Edinburgh International Film Festival will open with the premiere of a film by Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes, it has been announced.
The 63rd EIFF, which will run from 17 to 28 June, will begin with Mendes's latest offering Away we go. The 43-year-old, who is married to actress Kate Winslet, won the best director Oscar in 2000 for his film American Beauty. The full programme for the festival will be released next month.
"Away we go" follows the journey across contemporary America of an expectant couple, as they travel in search of the perfect place to put down roots and raise their family. Several of the film's stars, including Jeff Daniels, Maggie Gyllenhaal and John Krasinski (star of the US version of The Office), are expected to accompany Mendes to the Opening Gala on 17 June.
EIFF artistic director Hannah McGill, said: "We're absolutely delighted to open the festival with a wonderful film that marks a distinct change of pace for one of Britain's most celebrated contemporary directors, Sam Mendes.
"Away we go is the perfect Opening Night for Edinburgh: funny, positive and smart, and a film I'm incredibly proud to present to our audiences."
Mendes said: "I was last in Edinburgh in 1987 at the Fringe, and most nights the cast outnumbered the audience. So I'm really looking forward to returning - hopefully to a full house."

In the wake of Amazon.com's recent disastrous "glitch" which resulted in thousands of gay and lesbian books and authors being stripped of their sales rankings and removed from search results, the online retailer has announced they're launching new versions of the Kindle for LGBT customers, "to show our gay and lesbian customers we truly have our ham-handed fist on the pulse of gay America," said Amazon.com spokesperson Drew Herdener.
The Gay Kindle will debut later this year, and AfterElton.com was able to secure a sneak peak at the product.
There will be some new enhancements to this version, as well, including the insertion of "Hey, Girlfriend!" at the beginning of all Text to Voice narrations. And to further demonstrate the company is in touch with their gay customers, the gay Kindle will also filter out all books about sports, hunting and anything mechanical because Amazon "understands our gay male customers aren't interested in that stuff."

I do think Jake is TT, I believe he dated Austin, I'm not sure, however, if it's still going on or if they remained just friends. Yes, there was a particular reason to mention Lainey.
Ted was making a point about Nikki and Rob romance and Lainey is very involved with that gossip (see today's 9:47 AM #1 Ted post).

Michelle was right; sites should only post the most general of pics, nothing so personal as inside their home without permission. It might not be safe. People have to learn to put themselves in another's place. The star the fan devotes a site to is not an object, but a real person.

It was, the host posted on IMDB to clarify what happened. She said she didn't know it was a pic from inside her house, she thought it was from an industry party. Yes she decided to close the site herself, but if MW didn't hire the lawyer and maybe contacted them herself and asked them nicely, they wouldn't have closed it.
That's just how it's done, it's business - using a third party to contact the site. Being nice has nothing to do with it, she doesn't have to ask anyone to remove pics of her.

It's not spoiled for me either - I love the Jake and Heath discussions. But for more MAJOR discussion, like Dr. Parnassus coming up, his incredible Joker performance, his Oscar win, his other films, etc. etc. I just wondered if there was a place.
What gets tiresome for me is the endless Reeking - even if they are really involved, why not keep your private life private? I don't want to have to lose my lunch every day hearing about another sickeningly sweet rendevous of theirs. I hope it ends soon! :)
I think ennisjack.com or bettermost.com, even though BBM forums, have really nice Heath threads. As for fansites... "Heathbaby" used to be so great and they had a great forum, but the mod totally messed the site up (I think it was even better than IHJ).
Thank you - maybe even a TDK fansite, I'm absolutely crazy about that movie and everyone in it and associated with it, can't wait for a sequel.

I doubt there are too many J/H shippers. It's not like Jake/Austin. There's a big following because of TT. Not many really believe Jake & Heath were more than friends.

There's no real speculation about their relationship on any Jake, Heath or BBM site. It's kind of a taboo topic. But I don't think that many believe in a RL Jake/Heath relationship anyway.
The truth is, most believe in a Jake/Austin romantic relationship. Either they were dating in the past or are still dating.
Austin has signed with One Tree Hill for 2 years. So he will definitely be back next season, and if the show lives on, he will be back for at least one more. Sophia Bush has also resigned from what I hear. So it looks like the Brooke/Julian relationship will keep growing!
