See, ol’ Tooth, our fave partner in sex-in-public crime is being just as brazen, only with words, not his crotch. The pretty boy (man, on occasion) is gleefully telling more than a few gossipy girls — which means boys, natch, in highly exaggerated fagola speak, but then, I’m sure you already knew that, hon-cakes — that he’s quite aware the hunt for his identity is on. Emotionally, I think Jake learned to hold on to what he has. (Mommy and Daddy stayed together even though there was MAJOR issues throughout the marriage.) I do think they are a couple (but I don't know how close they really are). I do wonder if when they were 'secret' he was having fun, but now, I don't know. I think they both see it benefits them both to get press and be seen.
What I do find interesting, Reese doesn't like to share his attention. If you look at all the pictures with Mom, you can see they were together more than most sites show, but she did walk off. There were stories where Jake bumped into the Portman family and Reese pouted and went to sit at a table. (She did seem to chat with RDJ wife, but those were pap shots.) RDJ needed those pap shots too, all the diva reports aren't good for his image.
2008 was a tough year. Close or not to Health, he lost a friend. He was young and father, I'm sure it pained him and he didn't need to make it public or about him. His grandmother died. We don't know how close he was to her. He was away from home (Pick the home you want him to be in, but he was away from it).
He might have a wonderful life that we don't see. Or, he doesn't. But I think some people are just unkind on this site. It's fun to guess what is really going on, but some don't have to insult him.

From now on, 3 words will precede Jake's professional introductions ..Academy Award Nominee, Jake Gyllenhaal, he no doubt enjoys that prestige, yet he could not find time to say a word about the man who starred with him in this classic film that impressed both gay and straight audiences alike? The film that gave him that prestige. A groundbreaking film that made him ,as you say, a household name all over the world. Most of the write ups about Heath's death spoke about the role he will be best remembered for: Ennis Del Mar in BBM and most fans waited with bated breath for his last completed film TDK. He was an impressive Actor's actor and so richly deserved all the accolades and respect bestowed on him and his work following his death. But where was Jake? I'm totally disgusted and disappointed in him. Then he uses this fake showmance with Witherspoon to stay in the news while he hides out in the closet hoping the gay fans will go away? Adds insult to injury.
I once thought that maybe some one gave Jake bad advice about not speaking out, but now coming upon the anniversary of Heath's untimely death one year later ,he just comes across as an ungrateful, wimpy ,bastard. All along it has been tough watching Jake make a fool out of himself. What has gone on the last two weeks though have been awful. This must have been planned before Jake came back from London. First the birthday fiasco. What got me most about that was that is was such an obvious staged performance.
Then they had the audacity to humiliate the photographers who were sent to the restaurant to take the pictures by getting the staff to call them names and throw eggs at them. That was either planned ahead of time or two nasty people showed their true colors on a whim.
Then the weekend with RDJ to show that they had friends. I dont think either one of them has any true friends right now. Maybe Jake has Chris but Chris is making his own way now and not babysitting Jake anymore.
The showmance has been tough to take but I have always keep the hope that Jake would be man enough to keep his family out of his lie. Well low and behold in comes Mrs. G. I am sure she approved and agreed to go along but more and more I now see what lengths Jake is willing to go through to make people think he is not gay. Jake must be one desperate, insecure, lonely man right now. I have lost total respect for him.
I wish I could say soon I will look real bad and Jake will come through but I dont think that is possible anymore. Like Ted says he is cemented into the closest. Doubt he will be able to come out even at the age of 90.
A lot of folks have given up following Jake. I'm not. I wanna watch his every move. Actually I am not a star gazer or a celebrity watcher at all. I normally dont have much interest in people I dont know and what they do. But Jake was so good at making it look like he was someone special in a way that sure caught my eye. Was that all a facade? I dont think so. I think Jake is a gay man living a lie for fame and money. Most performers let their acting and talent do that for them. Jake sure must lack confidence. His last two films have not been great but he is a young guy and with hard work could be a terriffic actor. He sure has gotten some nasty advice. I do think it is gonna hurt him in the end if he doesnt snap out of it soon. Im still rooting for him to come through. I saw the gleem in his eyes when he made the remarks at Bafta and the MTV awards. I saw how he looked on the stage at GLAAD dancing with Jennifer. I saw him on the stage with Rufus. Looked like he had a ball. SNL was unforgetable. I hope to see that gleem in his eye again someday.

SNL was to promote Zodiac and bringing BBM up was probably a way to remind people he starred in that movie. Jake was happy BBM was such a hit and his enthusiasm had more to do with the success of the film than it's "message" IMO.

For me, no matter how hard Jake tries to be manly and butch and macho, he's bound to fail. Even if he is straight and likes girls. He gives off the sissy vibe, mommy boy vibe,delicate boy vibe.His appearance doesn't help either.Big cerulean eyes,moles, nimble fingers, perfectly chiseled lips, long lashes, dimples- Jake has this angelic look to him. I'm pretty sure he was teased at school by other boys,cause he was awful pretty and girly. He is a grown up man now. I know a lot of straight men, I am a stright woman. They never look at other men the way Jake very often looks at his co-stars, male friends, etc. He's usually all smiles and has this very tender look in his eyes. He hugs other guys a lot and loooooves being the centre of attention. Kelly, Mendes, Fincher had their hands full when they worked with him.

The basket would be greeted with a wave of roaring laughter and "Are you kidding me?". He apparently was terrified when the key hit his face in Pinewood studios. He was TERRIFIED. Probably called Reese straight away.
He can buy a million of power tools, have five kids, drive a Hummer or start practising martial arts- he will never be a macho in my world.
