Every Day is Toothy Day

October 7, 2008

Dear Ted:
You so often told us that Toothy Tile knows he's Toothy and that he's proud of it. What about Gray Goose, is he a proud one, too?
—Robert

Dear Smile Like You Mean It:
Hardly. Grimacing through it all.

Dear Ted:
Who is the most loving, sweetest and hottest hubby: Toothy's or yours? Is Baby Tile old enough to walk?
—Grace

Dear Tile-icious:
Mine. No.

Dear Ted:
If Jake and Reese are just PR buddies, then as far as I can tell, he hasn't dated anyone since he broke up with Kirsten Dunst back in 2005. Is he that picky?
—Jill, M.E.

Dear Dump or Dunst:
Maybe he didn't date KiKi, either.

October 11, 2008

Dear Ted:
Would you answer the million-dollar question: Is Toothy Tile gay or bisexual? How about Gray Goose? What is the real nature of Toothy's relationship with his beard?
—Mia

Dear Tricky Tooth:
You mean the one on his face or the one on his publicist’s speed dial? Gay as my vocabulary, darling. Ditto on the real love in Toothy’s life.

Dear Ted:
I have so many questions for you! Is Daniel Craig Toothy Tile? Is Obama going to win? Will Brad Pitt pull a Woody Allen and marry Zahara 18 years from now?
—Jenna K

Dear Lot to Handle:
No. Hopefully. Better not.

Dear Ted:
Does Toothy Tile's GF/beard know that he's T.T.? Or if not, that he's gay?
—Pat, Chicago

Dear Loose Goose:
Enough with Toothy! He’s not even that good of an actor, what’s all the damn fuss, already? And, of course, Toothy's woman knows he's Toothy, as well as his mattress persuasions, duh. She's been down this road before, think she'd be over the swinging studs by now, but whatever.

Dear Ted:
You're so jaded about celebrity relationships. You seem to think like there's an expiration date to these couplings.
—Dnnro

Dear Downer:
No worries, every day is Toothy Day here at A.T.!

"3:59, nothng is obvious. I have several children. I am sorry men in your life "come and go". My own husband and myself have observed our marriage vows and the basic relationship of love and trust is between ourselves. We expect our children to grow to maturity without the stickiness of feeling that they are STUCK in relationship with their needy parents."

That's not what I meant. Love and trust are extremely important ina relationship. It's not about needy parents, it's about the priorities many women have when forced to choose between a man and a child.

Please, leave my love life out of this.

POV's and situations are obviously different. I'm not a parent myself, but I know many of my friends with children say that they put their kids first. I can't say how it will be with me, I'm not a parent yet.

Not to belabor this point, but I think it's an important one. Parents may mean they as parents put their children first in terms of their own life choices, not that they prefer their children over their spouses or value them more.

This impacts upon abortion decisions, whether the life of the fetus is more important than the life of the mother.

I, personally, would not want to feel that my husband values our children more than we value one another.

Children learn from the parental relationship, and are maturing beings - it is a different kind of love, not one of preference.

Well, if you need some spiritual, aesthetic and libidinous hygiene after looking at the latest round of staged Reeke photo-ops, check out Chris Fischer's Edible Island Weblog. Jake's hunky best friend still pings my gaydar like a church bell and he's been in Europe for months - how convenient. ;) Check out the last two pictures are the bottom on the page. I'm telling you, the man is hunky and his chest is ripped. More semi-nake Chris pictures, please. VERY Michael Tolliver in Tales of The City.

TRUE LOVE

For Naomi

I catch it again: the reflection of you
(so much more stunning and true
than all the Marilyn Monroe diamond snow
sweet sewn seeds of success,
sucked so clean boned from the glory fish
of breast and beast and queen blood flow
to kingdom combed clean toothbrush fresh
my dream come through more red, white and blue
than my first view of Playboy magazine

that it undoes me completely.)

Your strategies succeed so mercilessly well
below the hard-wrought structures of civilization
(architecture, zoology, French, mathematics, etc.)

that your ligaments are attached to mine.

And, even though I’m 3000 miles away,
I fall to any knee I can find every time
your stone hard commandments are invoked
(far more potently I might add than
any golden calf Sinai ant hill version they sold to us
for worship)

because you and me are playing for keeps, babe

(womb powered, moon gathered

peace entreaties not withstanding).
We cannot risk the earth spinning
off her candy axis, can we?

Or can we,

even though my half thoughts stutter
at any view of myself
(mirror, photo, video
camera or mind’s eye snap shot),
because, of course, it’s

you

I see,

you

I carry

(baby inside me
that will never come out.
never cry, suck, piss or whimper
as I did,

this one will stay inside
what ever there was I was supposed to be
so you, my mist of all the silver cinemas,
can eat her way motherly to lunch in bed
and nap on the wine red blanket to heaven)

unless I do something

now.

DL QAF gossip:

"I was a crew member and I can tell you Mr Harold and Mr Harrison dated for 2 years (2000/2002) but as fas as I know they're good friends now so I can't see anything wrong with Randy Harrison behaviour, he still loves Gale Harold as much as he loves Mr Paige but he's not in love with GH, not anymore, sorry guys."

Anonymous said...

I can't believe that I ever thought Jake was attractive. He's actually homely in those jogging photos. I think his looks have disappeared right along with his personality.

Anonymous said...

Hard to look attractive when you have no personality of your own What they say about beauty coming from the inside is true, especially in Jake's case. We never see a real smile from him anymore, his face is tense, he has a hang-dog quality to him, or maybe it's shame and embarrassment. He wears baggy clothes because anything too form -fitting would look to gay. Need I say more?

Anonymous said...

IA. Jake's looks are tied to his personality and he's lost both. He's also lost most of his fans. The blogs and fansites are just about dead. Most people posting seem to be there out of habit and not out of any love for Jake. The only comments on the gossip blogs are generated by the usual gay Jake vs. straight Jake battle. Without that continuing battle, Jake would garner almost zero interest.

Anonymous said...

Without that continuing battle, Jake would garner almost zero interest.

Of course he wouldn't. The BBM high is long over. He needs a hit asap (maybe Prince of Persia will be a hit?). Without a hit the only ones who are interested in him are gossip mags and that only because of the Reese connection. But that's at least something I guess. Any publicity is better than zero publicity.

Anonymous said...

"Without that continuing battle, Jake would garner almost zero interest."

That's for sure. He went from being Jake Gyllenhaal, Academy Award nominated actor from Academy Award nominated film Brokeback Mountain to being Jake Gyllenhaal, Reese Witherspoon's boyfriend. That's really improving your image and your acting career Jake.

Anonymous said...

What he needs are some sexy photos without the midget. Nobody wants to look at him with the old ball and chain. It's not just about the wait between movies. It's what we're given to look at in the meantime. Jake having fun with his buddies, biking, looking happy, confident, sexy, vs. dragging around with Reese. Jake really should fire his manager and pr, they have really done his image some serious damage with this showmance. Film roles like PoP are not going to do him any good if nobody is interested in seeing him in films anymore.

Anonymous said...

^I believe PoP is a film that would be successful with any decent enough, good looking actor. It's an advanture/romance popcorn flick. It'll be fine.

Anonymous said...

I'd rather talk about Chris.

http://edibleisland.typepad.com/

Anonymous said...

"Without that continuing battle, Jake would garner almost zero interest."

I think jake will keep the small group of fans he had since DDarko
( people who like him as actor)

then you have the BBM fans, specially fans of the movie and the caracthers. Some will follow him maybe , a lot won't ( he can't be jack twist all his life)

And at last you have the gossip fans who come here and there to comment about his sexuality , i don't consider them as fans , just people who have fun "continuing battle" till the day the game will weary them.

I forgot movies lovers who aren't fans but are or can be interested in his movies. The majority in fact, completely distant face to his private life.

Anonymous said...

I wish we concentrated more on Jake as an actor and stopped lurking under his duvet and at whatever he does there.

Just reread the first TT-BIs. Ted never mentioned anything about TTs Bf being an actor till February 06. Before that he always gave the impression TTs Bf was an ordinary guy, talks about same size, dark haired etc. I think Ted gave in to the massive promo Danielle Dillon did for Austin Nichols at that time and began to cater to the WFT followers.
Also if you reread the items, he contradicts himself fairly often.
Do I think Jake is gay? Oh, yes, sure. Do I think the Austin saga is true? Not so sure. Do I think Chris could be the man in Jakes life, off and on? Absolutely possible. Everything that happened these last years suits really fine. Do I believe in BT? Honestly I hope there is no BT. Jake parading around Reeses kids and hiding BT is just vomit inducing. I still hope he has enough integrity left to not have started this mangy fauxmance, the worst acting they both ever delivered, with a baby, who, if not shown to the public, at least deserves every attention possible. And I think this is not a given if daddy prances around with another ones spawn.
Thanks to the guys who delivered it for the Chris update. Intriguing that he is in Europe these days, don´t you think.

Anonymous said...

While I am sure that Jake is gay, I think Ted is just cooking up the story about Ryan being bi or gay. Even DL, known for really liking Ryan, always said he is straight. He is a pouty cheater and while I think Laney often enough doesn´t know shit, her details about his cheesy shtick with the waitresses in Kanada were believable. Presumably, according to some gossip site linked to a Ryan thread on DL he already started to cheat on his new love.

Mandy Moore Estranged From Lesbian Mother

Mandy Moore isn’t speaking to her mom. The 24-year-old pop singer has reportedly been estranged from her mother, Stacy Moore, ever since the middle-aged woman came out as a lesbian last March.

Mandy was devastated when Stacy dumped her dad, Don, and moved in with her female lover earlier this year. “When Mandy’s mom came out as a lesbian and took up with Claudette Laliberte, Mandy felt betrayed,” a Star Magazine blabs.

The snitch adds, “She always believed that her mom and dad were happy and that her mom was straight. Now she has no idea what to believe and feels as if she’s been lied to her entire life.”

The turmoil between Mandy and her mom has the actress/singer threatening to boycott her older brother’s upcoming wedding. Mandy has warned him that if their mom is at his wedding later this year, she’s not coming, the tabloid claims.

If Jake's gonna get R preggie and saddle his firstborn with two older H'wood siblings of divorced parents, and a mother who believes that it's good for children's character to be bullied in school cause they learn to stand up for themselves, Im sorry for him.

I dont see him as a sweet daddy some others seem to applaud - he has shown no affection towards these children in pap pix, and actually looks stern and angry when Deacon seems to be in distress. Get down on his level and give the kid a hug for fuck's sake.

^He' not as pretty as he used to be. He ain't aging too well.

I think I know why he seems unhappy now. He realized Reese is a stuck up major bitch and her kids are spoiled brats. He's annyoed by them.
At first it probably was great to be wanted by Reese, now he's over her, but can't quit because both there movies are coming out and since they conveniently use their relationship for promotion...
I'm betting by now he regrets not paying tribute to Heath and posing for photo ops with Reese instead. I think all the things he did, he did because he was advised and out of loyalty to Reese.
He's over her now, but stuck.

My two cents.

I know that Jake spent time with Matilda when she was born. I already mentioned that, but there was an interview after an award show and they asked Jake what he was gonna do now and he said go and visit Matilda. I think Heath and Jake were pretty close when M. was born and he chose Jake to be her Godfather. Heath likely would have had more kids and Trevor (his best friend) would have been the Godfather for his next. I'm sure of it.
In an Italian Vogue issue from 2007Jake said that he and Heath were friends.
I don't know if he sees Matilda, because he works very much at the moment and don't forget the Reeke business, but I think he calls or writes birthday/Christmas cards.
I don't see him totally abandon his goddaughter, especially now that the kid has no father anymore. I mean, I hope he isn't.

I wrote all that because I know someone will write Jake being Godfather means nothing and he and Heath didn't keep in touch anymore and so on. But I don't think so.

Italian Vanity fair interview

COVER PAGE: Jake Gyllenhaal, the Cowboy is alone now. “Brokeback Mountain has given me the most important experience of my career, and a friend indeed”. His name was Heath Ledger, and he isn’t here anymore.

INSIDE PIC: “Fame is dangerous. I have seen so many actors gone awry. And I know that when you go through bad moments, those who help you are those who really love you.” This is what Jake Gyllenhaal said 3 months ago. Can you imagine how he feels now that his best friend Heath Ledger, isn’t here anymore? “WHEN SUCCESS BURNS YOU DOWN”

PAGE 78
New Mexico, January 2008
Sitting on the director’s chair, Jake Gyllenhaal’s staring at nothing. He’s there, but he’s not really there. On Tuesday 22nd , when he learnt about his friend Heath Ledger found dead in NY, he had disappeared from the set of Brothers. He came back after 2 days, shot his scenes, but his mind was faraway. To protect him from paps and nosey people, Director Jim Sheridan has doubled surveillance. “I’ve got a duty”, “I have to take care of Matilda”: these are the few sentences that his collegues could pull out of him. “Brokeback Mountain” sealed the friendship between him and Ledger, and let arise the love between Ledger and Michelle Williams. From their love was born Matilda, 2 years ago, Heath wanted Jake to be her godfather, Jake said he was “incredibly honoured”. Now that little girl is the last trace of that friend who has meant so much to him.

New Mexico, December 2007
Brothers is a movie about the war in Afghanistan. They’re shooting a scene in jail, actors have to display their homesickness. Every prisoner has put a pic of his wife or girlfriend on the wall. Jake picks a pic from his wallet and adds it to the others. Curious, his colleagues come close to the wall, until they understand that it’s a joke: the pic was taken on the set of BBM, it’s him with Heath Ledger. Jake bursts into laughter.

Los Angeles, October 2007
“Ours has been a blind date. In the movie we had to play the part of two lovers, but we had never exchanged more than a couple of words, we had no idea if we would have been fine together. But BBM worked because we found that “feeling”. In the story, Jack and Ennis don’t know each other, and fall in love slowly and in the same way we have slowly liked each other. And have become friends. Friends indeed: I think you can see this in the movie”
Din don. Three months before Heath Ledger’s lonely death. Jake Gyllenhaal, who can’t imagine what will happen, is telling me how much he loves him. The interview has just started in the hotel suite, when the doorbell rings “Room service” a voice says. A hot cappuccino is brought into the room “Did you ask for it?” the actor asks me. “Of course not” I answer.

Gyllenhaal shrugs and let the waiter out of the room. He looks surprised. So do I. It doesn’t happen often that in a 5-star hotel like this a waiter knocks at the wrong door. Above all it doesn’t happen often that a waiter enters - by chance – in the hotel suite where one of the most appreciated actors of the moment is promoting his new movie – Rendition, out in theaters from February 28th [in Italy, ndr], it’s the story of a CIA agent who takes part in the research for justice of the American wife (Reese Witherspoon) of an Arabian man (Omar Merwally), under suspicion of terrorism, unexplainably disappeared and nastily tortured in the name of America, as ordered by a hard-shelled government officer (Meryl Streep).

As I was reaching the room, Reese Witherspoon stepped on the lift: beside starring in the movie, she’s been Jake’s girlfriend for some months. She’s wearing a black dress, pigtail, she’s petite. She’s really pale, later on she’ll tell she doesn’t feel good and will call off all the interviews.
Gyllenhaal is taller than what you expect. Sitting on the sofa, he keeps moving his long legs, as if he couldn’t find the right position. In a couple of minutes he’s passed from the suit worn for the press conference, to a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. He looks very young and in fact, despite his many movies, he is young. He’s 27, his debut in the cinema at 11 (family matter: his father’s director, his mother’s screenwriter, his sister’s famous actress Maggie Gyllenhaal), at the age of 20 he has his first lead role, in the hit movie Donnie Darko. But his golden year is 2005: the controversial love of two gay cowboys in Brokeback Mountain, the madness in Proof, the Gulf war in Jarhead.

[Page center] With Heath we had a blind date. Before Brokeback Mountain we didn’t know each other. Than we’ve become true friends
PAGE 80
SF: And now a post 9/11 theme. For being so young, you are quite active about politics. In 2004 you took part in democrat John Kerry’s campaign, you fight for civil rights and ecology. Haven’t you ever thought that lining up could harm you?
JG: I fight for the things I care about, that’s what my family taught to me. And then, an actor necessarely makes a political choice when he decides to play a role in a movie. Every movie is political: the audience is sitting there in the theater and you have the power to entertain them, but to influence their believes too.
SF: Because of your believes, someone has called you “the new Sean Penn” or “Clooney’s heir”. Do you like these expressions or do they annoy you?
JG: I do respect both Sean and George, I like their intellectual honesty, I appreciate the work they do. But I’d like to be considered for who I am, with my thoughts and my priorities: we all have our own.
SF: What do you think about the tortures used by American agencies in the name of national safety?
JG: My personal opinion is that torture is wrong. But I also think that people have the chance to say what they think when they go to the polls. If you vote for someone who has certain ideas, you’re also responsible for the consequences of his/her decisions. What we see in the world now is the result of Bush’s administration choices.
SF: Most of Rendition’s scenes have been shot in Marocco. How did it feel being an American in a Muslim country?
JG: People are amazing and the warm welcome we received made us forget about all the paranoia for safety that Americans usually have.
SF: Have you ever seriously considered to be a politician?
JG: Truth is that I’m more interested in acting. We live in an age where politicians play like actors, and actors play like politicians
SF: Have you always known you’d have done this job?
JG: Maybe I wasn’t sure I’d have done this job, but I’ve always loved the abstract idea of acting
SF: But you attended Columbia University to study Eastern philosophy and religions.
JG: Philosophy was the only subject I was interested in at high school, we had no theatre classes there. And today I’m happy of having followed those classes at Columbia: I think it made me grow up from an intellectual point of view

SF: And from a religious point of view?
JG: My mother is Jewish, my father is Christian: both cultures, rather than religions, have affected my education. About Buddhism I’m fascinated by the ability of getting out of the cage of rigid rules, opening your mind. My favourite teacher was Robert Thurman (father of actress Uma). He taught me that Buddhism is first of all a philosophy of life, then a confession of faith.
Din Don. Doorbell again. The actor looks at me quizzically before saying “yes?”. “Room service” says the voice on the other side of the door. We both answer “No thanks!”, but the waiter ignores us and he enters with another cappuccino on the tray. “It’s not possible” says Jake “What the hell is it going on here?!”. I have few minutes left, so I get back to the interview.

SF: In 2005 you starred in 3 successful movies. Don’t you ever feel the pressure of expectations? Are you never afraid of failing?
JG: I rather felt the pressure in the beginning, when I didn’t know who I was yet and what I would have done. Today I’m only happy of having so many opportunities. In my life, as in my career, I’m living an important moment. Why should I stop?

SF: Does Reese Witherspoon has anything to do with your important moment?
JG: Funny, isn’t it? Reese and I have known each other for a very long time, we’re friends, then we do this movie and everybody thinks we’re dating.
SF: Are you trying to make me believe that you are only friends?
JG: (He lifts his eyes, blushes before answering with a lie) “yes”.
SF: I’ll ask it differently. In this important moment of your career and your life, how much does love mean to you?
JG: Love is always fundamental and it lies to my heart much more than career. And I’m talking about love in general, not only the one for a woman
PAGE 82

SF: Would you like to have a family of your own?
JG: Sure it's one of my aims for the future.
A value that I put at the centre of my life: my parents are still together after thirty years.

SF: Brokeback Mountain was a movie about a love story too. Between two men actually.
At the time many people advised you to not accept a script that could damage your career. Two years from then we can say that the effects have been opposite.
JG: I think that Brokeback Mountain has been the most important experience in my career, it gave me a lot of chances. You know what's funny? No one asked me if I was afraid to play a CIA agent in a movie. I played a lot of controversial characters in my career but only when I was gonna play a gay man they warned me I was making a risky choice because the audience could have thought that I was gay for real.

SF: In fact there were rumours about your bisexuality. At the time you declared provokingly that you had never been attracted to a man sexually but you would not be afraid if that happened. Still you've just admitted that that there are a lot of prejudices in the movie business that are hard to beat.
JG: I understand if someone prefers not to talk about such a subject because he's afraid to be swallowed by the audience's curiousity but I grew up in a world where there were many gays and they had no reason to hide.
Fortunately the world is evolving and in my generation there's more acceptance towards homosexuality. And I hope that soon we can get over prejudices.

SF: Last year you dedicated a song to your Brokeback fans. You played it during your guest appearence at the SNL. The audience has been impressed by your glittering dress.
JG: And that it's been quite an improvisation. I worked on it just the day before the show would be broadcast.
I asked to sing so my press agent suggested the song (And I am telling you I'm not going from Dreamgirls ST ndr), someone else suggested to play it in drag and I said “Great!”. The dedication to Brokeback fans was part of the game.

SF: You do that often?
JG: Singing? Yes! Dressing in drag a little less.

SF: Talking about TV appearences, is it true that you appeared in a show about Italian food?
JG: Yes! With all my family. I love good food and my favourite is Italian food.

Another ring at the door.
We both thought that that was his press agent to announce that my time was over. We were already saying goodbye to each other when another waiter, in silence this time, put the third steaming cappuccino upon the table. Jake and I looked at each other trying not to laugh. “You're Italian, right?” he asked me “Consider this crazy situation as an homage, something that we Americans have set to make you feel at home”.

SF: I pointed out that the next interviewer was German .
JG: We'll bring beer.” he laughed “The waiter has been warned yet”.

SF: I read somewhere that your parents, when you was a kid, let you go to auditions but not to accept the part in case you took it. Don't you think that this is a little bit cruel as an educational method?
JG: No, that was love. Having a son asking you to become an actor is just like having him asking you to let him go to a party where everybody get drunk and take drugs. They knew what it all was about and wanted to protect me.

SF: But you get to success at a very young age as well.
JG: And I've been lucky. Reaching success at an early age can be dangerous.
I've been with actors all my life, and I've seen many of them having success and get to a bad end.
But I'm lucky because I have a family that helped me not to stumble.
The only people who can help you are those who stay by your side in hard times, those who really love you, not stopping at saying so.
But sometimes neither this is enough. To Heath Ledger this wasn’t enough.

Jake's credibility in interviews and otherwise is totally gone, for me, by now. . .

^You can never know, maybe he lied that he was friends with Heath and that he loved him. Question is, why would he do that?

Anonymous said...

all depends on what you mean by "friends", what you mean by "love" - we have no idea what goes in lives of celebs.

it's fun to look for clues and make up stories, but come on!

(and sometimes not so much fun)

why would he post a picture of Heath in a prison setting on the set of Brothers when it is common to post pictures of lovers, spouses? it was said to be a "joke" what kind of a joke? hahaha not. did he really break down on set? some say he was not even there. his replies to Ted and Lisa were ambiguous and T&L's report was influenced both by pruning and their own sensibilities.

blahblahblah

his replies to Ted and Lisa were ambiguous

Replies about Heath, as reported by T&L, weren't ambiguous.

To sum up what Jake said to Ted and Lisa about Heath. He confirmed that he was one of the Godparents of Matilda. He said Heath was a close friend, a "special" friend. That he, Heath and Michelle became friends during BBM shoot.

Anonymous said...

it was said to be a "joke" what kind of a joke?

Of course they said it was a joke, because Heath's a man. If it were a pic of Resse or any other woman, you bet it would be no joke. *rolls eyes*

I don’t even know if the story is true, just commenting on the writing.

T&L's report:

“Originally, I didn’t want to do Brokeback when Gus Van Sant brought me the story, I just didn’t think Gus would do it justice, but when Ang came on board, it became an absolute yes, resounding yes to the project.”

“Yeah, that movie changed a lot of people, we are sure glad you did it,” Lisa said solemnly.

Jake became very quiet and looked down into his lap where his hands lay. “Listen, this movie changed me. Yes, it changed my career, but it also changed me.”

Oh, man! Gimme a break, Jake!

I think Jake and Heath loved each other as friends, really.

I don't know what is up with "Reeke" but I don't like them together, I don't like her infulence on him (I think she has an influecne on him). I think he made some mistakes while "with" her. The biggest mistake was to "get" together (as beard/gf whatever) with her.
I hope all this ends soon.

It's old news that Gus was attached to BBM, I remember hearing about it in 2000 and I doubt Gus brought the story to him The story was Gus was attached to it and after that Joel Schumacher and Jake said that he didn't like either director. WhenLee took ove rhe was because of Hidden Dragon, Heath signed on after. Either a little revionist history from Jake or T&L embelishing.

The first names attached to BBM was J. Phoenix and M. Whalberg.

"I see the fear of movie studios too afraid to make the movie with Gus Van Sant years ago. Columbia Studios and Scott Rudin came on board as soon as Gus Van Sant committed to direct. Once their options ran, however, it was extremely difficult to find funding for our screenplay/film. However, we would not have compromised our screenplay by removing or altering integral scenes in the story line."

I'm glad Heath and Jake did it. The performances were great, but their real life chemistry helped a lot. One of the best on/off chemistry I've ever seen. Good casting job by Ang.

I doubt Gus brought the story to him

Why?

"In truth, many things act against the prospect of success for this ambitious project. The script was kicking around for almost seven years and even a director as accomplished as Gus van Sant could not find actors who were willing to undertake it."

Women who like to watch gay porn

Watching Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal rolling around in a tent in Ang Lee's groundbreaking Brokeback Mountain had knees trembling all over the world. Many of those lustily quivering weren't gay romantics but women. 'Who knew man-on-man action could be so beautiful?' they cried. Although some women have been in on the secret for a while (Japan's female population lap up boy-love comics while slash fiction, which turns two male characters from cult TV shows into lovers, is mainly for women), us British girls have been lagging behind. Until now.

Leading gay fiction author James Lear, recently named Writer of the Year at the prestigious Erotic Awards, has seen a sharp rise in British women getting to grips with boy-only sex. His first book, The Back Passage (ahem) was more popular with women than men and his new novel, The Secret Tunnel, looks like it will repeat the same success. 'As one female fan put it: "One penis is good, two even better,"' he explains. 'They fancy men, they're turned on by men and so they're even more turned on by men with men - it's like "man squared".'

He's got the look

Of course, it's not just about being surrounded by manhood, quality is an issue. In most cases, hetero porn is made by men for men and as long as the leading actor is well endowed and can perform on cue, he gets the part. Although female directors such as Anna Span promise to cast attractive men in their films, mainstream porn is often full of portly stomachs and ugly faces.

Which is where male gay porn comes in, says Prof Clarissa Smith, author of One For The Girls!, a book about women's fascination with porn. 'In most cases, the actors in gay porn films are more attractive and have the athletic bodies women fancy.' Watching and reading gay male porn also allows women to explore unchartered territory. When women are faced with a male and female romance or sex scene, they naturally associate with the female. When it's men-only, you can be whatever you fancy - submissive or dominant.

'It's a holiday in someone else's experience,' explains Smith. It's even more basic than that, says Lear: 'Female readers don't need a central female character to identify with; they get off on men as men get off on women, appreciating their bodies, enjoying graphic descriptions of sex and objectifying men. They love the idea of a randy gay man seducing other men.'

Monica, 39, a designer, couldn't agree more. She only realised recently how much she enjoyed male gay porn and now watches it regularly. 'I log on to my favourite websites, then take what I see and reconstruct that into my own fantasy. My favourite scenario is a younger, pretty man being led astray by a bigger, butch guy,' she explains. 'It's sexy just watching them kissing. Often one of them has to be submissive, so maybe a small part of me likes seeing a man taking what we normally do.'

The sisterhood

Female betrayal is also a factor for Monica. 'I find it hard to detach myself emotionally from the woman and wonder if she is really enjoying it. With men, it's clear that both are genuinely aroused.' Prof Smith says this came up regularly in her research; many aren't convinced young Eastern European women's squeals of delight in films are genuine. If Monica could find one complaint with her new habit (and it is a struggle), she says it's too macho. 'There's lots of spitting and slapping as they grapple to be the alpha male,' she sighs. 'I would like to see something a bit softer.'

Perhaps Monica should check out Lear's favourite part of The Back Passage. There's lots of 'oh no, that's just so wrong' exclamations as the two hero detectives have sex in front of a suspect to persuade him to part with information. Righty-ho.

An excerpt from The Secret Tunnel by James Lear

The excitement of the morning, the wine, the company, and the constant rhythmic bumping of the train had made me reckless, and I was quite prepared to risk discovery in order to get my rocks off with Bertrand... it wouldn't take long, and would serve as an amusing hors d'oeuvre to lunch. But just as we were getting amorous in our carriage, with the blinds pulled down and our tongues in each other's mouths, there was a tap at the door. Damn these railway personnel! I disengaged my mouth and shouted: 'Go away!'

“Jake Gyllenhaal And Reese Witherspoon Get Some Breakfast
Can you tell I'm RABIDLY hungover today with headlines like that? Halloween involves way too much drinking. But it also involves dumb straight guys in sexy costumes, so it's kind of a win/win. Oh yeah, the famous people. Here's Jake Gyllenhaal and fag hag Reese Witherspoon out for breakfast in Santa Monica. He's back from London, where he's been filming The Prince of Persia. I just don't see heated sexual chemistry between them. I see a lot of complaining about how Lipstick Jungle isn't the same as Sex and the City and requests of each other to be honest, does my ass look fat in these jeans?”

Denis Leary Defensive Over His Use Of Gay Slur

DENIS Leary, already under attack for making fun of autism, is now defending his right to call homosexual men "fags." And incredibly, he says the Catholic Church and his parents are to blame for his slurs.

The "Rescue Me" star is put on the defensive in an interview with next month's issue of gay magazine The Advocate, which grilled him about his upcoming book, "Why We Suck," and a chapter titled "Matt Dillon Is a Giant Fag."

"What gives you the right to use the 'F-word?' " demands interviewer Brandon Voss. "I also have a chapter called, 'We'd Hate You Even If You Weren't Black,' " Leary shoots back. "I don't believe in the power of words. My parents came from Ireland, where the [C-word] is literally a word your mother and father would use to describe the weather or the car: 'That [C-word]ing car won't start!' And I come from a Catholic background where the nuns were always telling you, 'Don't do this, don't say this,' so any time anyone tells me I shouldn't say something, my reaction is, 'Why not?' "

The Advocate also takes Leary to task over a 2006 Elle interview where he was asked to name a man he'd sleep with if his life depended on it. "I'd shoot myself in the head," Leary answered. He tells Voss, "I'd have to have my wife dress up as a man. I never met him, but I always really loved Paul Newman - not only as an actor, but also the way he carried himself . . . So I guess I'd have to dress my wife up as Paul Newman."

Nonsense. Austin was named as a strong possibility on FanChitChat before Feb 06 (on the Toothy thread), and then after the Lakers pix in Feb when they looked at each other like lovers it all made sense.

Many people do feel betrayed David. It is very important to many of us to have someone as talented and as well thought of as Jake come out. It seemed like he was so close. It has felt liked we were smacked. Its hard to tell if he is lying(bearding) or if he misled us. Because I really do believe he mislead his fans.

I loved BBM and all of the actors from the movie. I became a TT fan because there was something so sweet and endearing about TT and his bf, especially after the Lakers photos surfaced. I now think that Jake is not gay and that he was purposely ambiguous because he loved the attention that "being gay" brought to him. I also think that he's now being purposely ambiguous with Reese because of the attention that being Reese's bf brings to him. He's an average actor who needs to create a "celebrity" persona to get attention. I'm fascinated by how he's alienated his fans and turned himself into a pathetic wuss. I'm here to watch the whole thing unravel and I don't feel sorry for him at all.

While I'm disappointed that Jake didn't come out, I can understand it. However the bearding disgusts me and is homophobic. And there is no doubt in my mind that is what Jake is doing. His whole body oozes shame and embarrassment when he's with the midget, not love. Not even friendship.

Anonymous said...

Ive known a few men who have not come out of the closet until mid life - a couple of them married, with children, causing enormous distress and confusion to their families.

I think Jake's prefers men but is afraid of being ostracized by family and the H'wood het community. I think his flirting with the gay community and his continued playing of the BBMt card is a way of keeping in touch with this part of himself.

What he's doing now is, to me, very sad, and yet not uncommon.

I agree he's an "average" actor, no way comparable to Heath Ledger, but has played his cards very well with no small thanks to H'wood "connections". No telling where it will get him, in my view.

That was so weird, why was his performance in Rendition among the best of the year, when his performance and the film were mostly panned? He stood there with Javier Bardem (NCFOM), Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild), Cate Blanchett (I'm Not There), RDJ (Zodiac), who all received mostly great reviews for their respective, mostly well received, films and Cate and Javier were even nominated for Oscars.

I'd rather talk about Chris, who's been in Europe for months. Ahem.

Dustin was surprised Jake got top billing? Who decides who gets top billing? Was Dustin only kidding or was he being serious?

when are you going to ask Chris about BT?

Who cares about it beside actors? As a moviegoer I couldn't care less about top billing.

"Who cares about it beside actors? As a moviegoer I couldn't care less about top billing."

Dustin kidded Jake about it, direcctors cut commentary, but I suspect he was serious.

as to who cares besides actors?

you think people dont pick up on this stuff? Jake has had effective pr, even when its as blatant and urp making for some of us as Reeke.

what makes Jakey run. . . .

"Goodness gracious," Obama said as he took the stage and peered at the human mass in Denver's Civic Center Park. Smelling victory, Obama supporters were everywhere, packing even the steps of the state Capitol way off in the distance.

In a campaign of huge Obama rallies across the United States, the Denver gathering topped them all. Local police put the crowd estimate at "well over" 100,000 people.

Do you notice or check top billing on movie posters? I don't.

I have worked in advertising and pr and know how this stuff is picked up subconsciously as well as consciously. maybe you dont notice but lots do. common knowledge "in the industry" -

Jake walks Deacon the way that Reese walks Atticus. All the time you see them thinking : "Did I agree to this in the original contract? Will I have to pick up his poop too? Isn't there anyone else they'll let me hang out with?"

Yes, he's walking through his checklist day by day. So far, he's covered 1-9 and 11. We'll see when he gets to 10 and 12-14. Diligent Jake won't miss anything on the list.

YAWN.....

1. Make sure that the press photograph me leaving Heathrow - check
2. Arrange planned photo-ops with Reese - check
3. Arrange planned photo-ops with Reese's rugrats - check
4. Nurse my envy of Gemma Atherton, who has spent more time acting and promoting movies recently than planning photo-ops for Star, Hello, People and US Weekly- check
4. Avoiding commenting on anything Reese has said about the fauxmance - check
5. Avoid any mention of postponed completed films (Brothers and Nailed) or postponed uncompleted films (PoP) - check
6. Avoid all gay men and any straight male groups larger than 2 like the plague - check
7. Do not comment on Prop. 8 or the new Harvey Milk film - check
8. Do not comment on Reese's dogmeat upcoming film, Four Christmases - check
9. Do not audition for or signal any interest in any other films or plays - check
10. Vote and make sure that the press photographs you entering and leaving the voting location - ongoing
11. Do not mention that Chris has been in Europe for months - check
12. Don't spend any time with family or non-industry friends (assuming that there are any left) - check
13. Meditate, work-out, shower, wash long hair and masturbate regularly - check
14. Make sure that the press photograph me leaving LA International or arriving at Heathrow - ongoing

Sure a lot of comment from the babblers, you'd think they'd be like pigs in the mud over the latest Reekefest. LOL, I guess even they're bored and not buying it, have to come here to have some fun.

I think many of you are hurt that Jake hasn't come out of the "closet". Jake was made out to be the "Jackie Robinson" of hollywood. Many people feel betrayed by this friendship with Reese. I don't care if he's gay or not.

^^^ Were any of you around to read the personal stories on the BBM Website back in Late 2005, early 2006?? Those were real stories of men and women about their sexuality. They poured their guts out about being gay or bisexual. Do some of you know that their is a whole subculture of- (Let's just talk about the men Ok) -Men or young guys who participate in sexual acts with another male but never consider themselves homosexual and deffinately not GAY! Young college guys may occasionally fool around, but have a girlfriend, and they don't think twice about considering themselves as GAY! Army buddies have dealt with same sex situation very often, but don't consider themselves as gay. There are many men who have girlfriends and some have wives and children, but occasoionally like to have sex with another man secretly.. Call it downlow, closet, bearding whatever you like, but this has gone on for years. Some men who later in life maybe late 30's or 40's make a descison. Come on some of you have to know this!!! We all know that some are very aware and express themselves about their sexuality at a very early age, and that's great. My support is there. But for some there are steps and life situations that happens first. I like the guy Jake G. and felt he was not completely straight after seeing one of his movies, but I do feel Jake fits into one of the catagories that I mention. It would be nice if he was a role model and was an out masculine leading man. But if Jake is gay or bi, ( and I thinks he's bi ) This will not be happening anytime soon. He may even get married and have children. I say Jake talks about this openly at 38yr. old or older...
Just my humble opinion.

Synecdoche, New York Review
...
Synecdoche, New York, Charlie Kaufman’s directorial debut, is impeccably acted, inventively designed, sometimes laugh-out-loud funny, and often devastatingly sad. It was also still such a mystery to me after two viewings that I found it hard to trust my own vocabulary to describe what the experience of watching it is actually like. But Burton, rambling on 400 years before the fact, seems to nail it, or at least part of it: a life where the madness of creativity and the madness of love/lust are constantly exchanged for one another, to the point where please from either is unattainable. But it’s also about the fear of death, the impossibility of romance in the absence of longing, the instinct to project our desires on to others and to seek answers about ourselves in mirror images. In other words, as theater director Caden Cotard (Philip Seymour Hoffman) says of his own life’s work, “It’s about everything.”

We all know that some are very aware and express themselves about their sexuality at a very early age, and that's great.

"The DVD commentary for the new edition of City Slickers (why the world needed one of those is beyond me) features a juicy revelation by star Billy Crystal about the actor who played his 10-year-old son.

“He was always performing,” said Crystal of the lad. “He would sing from South Pacific and we’d all go, ‘He’s gay, he’s going to be gay.’”

I don't believe RW when she says her kids are the most important to her. It's her interests in my humble opinion. The pictures of her, Jake and Deacon are disturbing. The boy seems in distress and I understand Jake just standing there and doing nothing, but she's his mother. Instead of holding him and comforting him she stands there with her hads in her pockets. Huh?
She's like most of the Hollywood mom's, not better.
When I look at pictures of celeb moms, Jennifer Garner, Kate Winslet, Michelle Williams seem caring and good moms.
It' just pics, but those are the impressions I got based on pics.

Anonymous said...

RW is only interested in her own success. She will pimp anything for it, marriage, kids, anything. According to Ted she's a "conniving handful"!

I hate those Deacon pics. I mean he's just a four year old kid, being forced to do something he obviously doesn't want to do, for his mom's career success. Guess she doesn't have enough ability to succeed on her own...

Anonymous said...

To me, what's the most distrubing about those pics of Deacon and Reeke is that they both are standing there while Deacon looks like he's ready to burst into tears. Neither one of them comforts him, but most of all, they both look annoyed. Jake has an annoyed look on his face and Reese looks pissed at Deacon. Then when Deacon is walking with Jake, Deacon still looks upset and uncomfortable. That's so wrong of Reese to do that to her child.

Anonymous said...

Jake is very immature as far as I can tell. There's no way he's ready to take on the role of stepfather to Deacon and Ava. He likes being the center of attention and that's not going to happen when the kids are around.

Exactly. Looking at the pictures, I'd bitch slap Jake and Reese. Ugh.

For the poster who claims that the Austin rumors were started by WFT and Dany AFTER the Lakers pictures in Feb '06:

Jan 28 2006, 07:37 AM

"There's a school of thought that this 'boyfriend' might actually be Austin Nichols, Jake's co-star from Day After Tomorrow. I do not know about that and perhaps they have just stayed friends is all - but on a related note, Austin is reportedly now dating...Sophia Bush. And Sophia Bush and Austin 'n' Jake have been seen out together a lot. With Jake tagging along, according to E! News.

Make of that what you will. I just give up these days and hold my hands up and say, 'Hollywood, do what you will!', lol."

WFT didn't begin until April 2006.

The Austin rumors were around in 2005. There were postings on the !E message boards and on ONTD suggesting that Austin was the bf. Ted also insinuated that the bf was an actor way back in 2005 when someone asked if the bf was Matt Dillon and Ted said "no, not as famous, yet."
