Every Day is Toothy Day

October 7, 2008

Dear Ted:
You so often told us that Toothy Tile knows he's Toothy and that he's proud of it. What about Gray Goose, is he a proud one, too?
—Robert

Dear Smile Like You Mean It:
Hardly. Grimacing through it all.

Dear Ted:
Who is the most loving, sweetest and hottest hubby: Toothy's or yours? Is Baby Tile old enough to walk?
—Grace

Dear Tile-icious:
Mine. No.

Dear Ted:
If Jake and Reese are just PR buddies, then as far as I can tell, he hasn't dated anyone since he broke up with Kirsten Dunst back in 2005. Is he that picky?
—Jill, M.E.

Dear Dump or Dunst:
Maybe he didn't date KiKi, either.

Dear Ted:
Would you answer the million-dollar question: Is Toothy Tile gay or bisexual? How about Gray Goose? What is the real nature of Toothy's relationship with his beard?
—Mia

Dear Tricky Tooth:
You mean the one on his face or the one on his publicist’s speed dial? Gay as my vocabulary, darling. Ditto on the real love in Toothy’s life.

Dear Ted:
I have so many questions for you! Is Daniel Craig Toothy Tile? Is Obama going to win? Will Brad Pitt pull a Woody Allen and marry Zahara 18 years from now?
—Jenna K

Dear Lot to Handle:
No. Hopefully. Better not.

Dear Ted:
Does Toothy Tile's GF/beard know that he's T.T.? Or if not, that he's gay?
—Pat, Chicago

Dear Loose Goose:
Enough with Toothy! He’s not even that good of an actor, what’s all the damn fuss, already? And, of course, Toothy's woman knows he's Toothy, as well as his mattress persuasions, duh. She's been down this road before, think she'd be over the swinging studs by now, but whatever.

Dear Ted:
You're so jaded about celebrity relationships. You seem to think like there's an expiration date to these couplings.
—Dnnro

Dear Downer:
No worries, every day is Toothy Day here at A.T.!

Kenneth Brannagh is adapting it?

16 October 2008

Even more news is surfacing regarding Kenneth Branagh’s not-totally-official-yet directing of Marvel Studio’s “Thor” movie, tentatively scheduled for release in July of 2010.

Branagh, best known for his combination of film and stage work, as well as his film adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Henry V”, which he directed and starred in, has been rumored since this past September to be Marvel’s somewhat unusual choice for directing their big-screen adaptation of the Norse thunder god character. Theater news site Whatsonstage.com is now connecting Branagh to the project, They’re also announcing it as the reason that Branagh has withdrawn from directing Jude Law in a production of Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” next year, indicating that Branagh would be busy.

Which gay couple is fighting over a third party? Both members of this couple are in the entertainment industry, one more famous than the other. The third party, who is also a famous entertainer, has become quite the couple-wrecker due to some sexual waffling within the established couple. The most interesting fact here is that the third party is the opposite sex of the couple, and has been battling rumors about sexuality, too. (Blind Gossip)

Teddy seems a bit pissed off now !

Wow, Thor would be just amazing with Kenneth Branagh involved - it will be different and probably very good. Jude Law has a gorgeous face, doesn't he? *sigh*

Oh, shit. It's WAR!!!!!

Even though George Takei married his boyfriend back in early September, William Shatner felt compelled to NOW talk about being snubbed from the wedding.

And it's vicious!

Shatner has taken to his YouTube account and gone on a full-blown attack on Takei, saying that George has a sickness and psychosis. It's quite incendiary!

'Max Payne' ushers in wave of videogame films

The latest film adaptation of a videogame hits theaters in the United States this week with the release of "Max Payne".

The dark, atmospheric film, which stars Mark Wahlberg as a cop in search of the men who killed his wife and child, follows in the footsteps of games turned into films including the "Tomb Raider" movies starring Angelina Jolie, which were commercial hits but critically clobbered by gamers.

"Videogame translations are not for the weak-hearted," said John Moore, the director of "Max Payne". "It's been a very mixed bag in terms of results. If you read the chat threads there's a big thumbs down from gamers, as opposed to the comic book adaptations, which have been a rip-roaring success. Videogames have sort of stumbled in their transition to the big screen."

With other film versions in the works for game franchises like Sony's Pictures' "Metal Gear Solid," Universal's "God of War", Walt Disney Pictures' "Prince of Persia" and others that track record could change.

NATURAL OUTLET FOR HOLLYWOOD

"Max Payne" is the second fall videogame adaptation by 20th Century Fox, which had success last year with the $100 million hit, "Hitman." Fox is also developing a film based on Electronic Arts best-selling PC game "The Sims" and is working with Capcom and Hyde Park Entertainment on "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li" and the new "Street Fighter IV" game.

"I think so long as there are interesting, exciting videogames created with good plots, good stories and interesting characters, it's a natural outlet for Hollywood storytellers to reach for those foundations," said Patrick Aiello, producer of the "Street Fighter" film.

Capcom has also partnered with Arad Productions and Warner Bros. Pictures to bring its ice planet action game franchise, "Lost Planet," to the big screen. David Hayter, the voice of Solid Snake in "Metal Gear Solid" games and the screenwriter of the "X-Men" movies, is working on the script.

"The key to making a good movie is bringing to the screen something that people haven't seen before," said Hayter. "If you're really just putting them through what they went through in the game, you're not giving them much because they can go home and play the game and literally move the character in the way they want to or take the paths that they want to take."

Arad Productions is developing games like Sony Online Entertainment's "EverQuest," Sony Computer Entertainment America's "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune," BioWare's "Mass Effect" and Namco Bandai's "Pac-Man" into films.

Stuart Beattie, who worked on the Pirates of the Caribbean films, has penned a script for a "Gears of War" movie, based on Epic Games' best-selling franchise. "For those of us who know how great games are for source material in Hollywood, we're all scrambling to try to make the big game movie that will show Hollywood just how powerful game translations can be on the big screen if they're done right," said Beattie, who is a huge gamer.

Hollywood producer Jerry Bruckheimer, who worked with Beattie on the Pirates films, hopes to turn the game Prince of Persia into another Disney Pictures franchise. Bruckheimer enlisted the game's creator, Jordan Mechner, to write the screenplay for the film. "Just as Pirates of the Caribbean had been inspired by all these great old pirate movies, Prince of Persia had drawn from all the great old Arabian Nights movies," said Mechner.

As more Hollywood producers who play games have moved up the production ladder, Hollywood is taking a closer look at games today. If "Max Payne" makes a killing at the box office, Hollywood already has a diverse line-up of game adaptations waiting in the wings.

Jennifer Aniston - more lingerie and striptease in Star magazine:

"Jen Pops The Question: "Marry Me!" Jen said she'd only take John back if they got married, and he agreed. On John's birthday, they went back to Jen's house in L.A. A source says: "She lit a bunch of candles and slipped into some lingerie. She owns a ton of it — especially garter belts. She doesn't wear them outside the house, but she wears them in the bedroom!" A "friend" says: "Jen surprised John with a striptease. She got this little red and black number online. Nothing too X-rated, just skimpy. She wanted to do something special, so she gave him a private show and sang "Happy Birthday," just like Marilyn Monroe did for JFK."

Anne Hathaway to star in 'Fiance'

Warner Bros. has set Anne Hathaway to star and Burr Steers to direct the romantic comedy “The Fiance.” Studio is eyeing a March production start.
Pic will be produced by Offspring Entertainment partners Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot.

A rewrite of “Fiance” script is being done by Etan Cohen, the “Tropic Thunder” scribe who just turned in a script for the Judd Apatow-produced comedy to star Sacha Baron Cohen as Sherlock Holmes and Will Ferrell as Watson. “The Fiance” was originally scripted by Dyanne Stempel and Jennifer Robinson.

Hathaway will play a woman who cancels wedding plans and breaks up with her seemingly perfect fiance so she can try to figure out who she really is. Her meddling parents try to patch things up between the pair, making it impossible for her to move on.

The comedy was originally set up at Disney. After the studio dropped it, Gibgot got Hathaway interested as well as Steers, and suddenly four studios were vying for it. Shankman and Gibgot just produced “17 Again,” the Zac Efron starrer that Steers directed for New Line.

WB will likely put “Fiance” in production in March, so Hathaway can follow it by re-teaming with Steve Carell in WB’s “Get Smart” sequel. Hathaway, onscreen in Sony Pictures Classics’ “Rachel Getting Married,” is shooting the Tim Burton-directed “Alice in Wonderland.” Hathaway next will be seen in the Gary Winick-directed Fox 2000 comedy “Bride Wars” alongside Kate Hudson.

Austrian Politico Admits Affair With Right-Wing Haider

The truth comes out! Twenty-seven year old Austrian politician Stefan Petzner admitted this week to having a long-term affair with his recently deceased boss, Jörg Haider (seen in the foreground).

Though it's long been rumored, the murmurs of Haider's homo ways were revived last week after photographers spotted him at a gay bar just minutes before he was involved in a fatal car crash.

Taking Haider's spot as leader of the ultra-right Alliance for the Future of Austria this week, Petzner told a radio host that he and Haider began their relationship a few years ago, but promises that Haider's wife knew about their goings on - and didn't give a hoot:

A Report from Ron Burkle's 'No on Prop 8' Beverly Hills Fundraiser

I have a report from last night's major 'No on Prop 8' fundraiser at Ron Burkle's estate in Beverly Hills. Our source writes:

"First the good news: 'No on Prop 8' raised at least $3.9 million from last night's event! Ron Burkle underwrote the entire evening so that every dollar donated went to the No on Prop 8 campaign. San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom donated $100,000. David Hyde Pierce donated $50,000. They also announced that in the past two weeks, 'No on 8' had taken in $10 million to the 'Yes on Proposition 8' campaign's $2 million. If I'm doing my math correctly, at this point we should be fairly even with the bigots in terms of funds raised.

"Mayor Gavin Newson opened the event by calling the fight for marriage equality the civil rights issue of our time.

"Patrick Guerriero stated that 'No on Prop 8' had just completed a Spanish language radio ad that was ready to air. He also announced that 'No on Prop 8' would soon be running recently completed ads specifically to address and counter the false claims made in the advertisements run by the Yes on Proposition 8 campaign.

"Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa stated that the campaign was trying to reach out to Hispanic voters and that he would volunteer to be the face of the television ads and the voice of the radio ads.

Daniel Craig on Who Would Make the Better 'Bond': Obama or McCain?

Agent 007 himself, Daniel Craig, is weighing in on which presidential candidate would make the better James Bond -- and which of their wives would make the better Bond girl!

"Obama would be the better Bond because -- if he's true to his word -- he'd be willing to quite literally look the enemy in the eye and go toe-to-toe with them," Craigs tells Parade magazine. "McCain, because of his long service and experience, would probably be a better M," he adds, referring to Bond's boss played by Judi Dench.

As for which First Lady hopeful --- Michelle Obama or Cindy McCain -- would make the better Bond Girl, 'The Quantum of Solace' star confesses: "That's much too dangerous a question."

MAYBE William Shatner's invitation to George (Mr. Sulu) Takei's gay wedding last month got lost in the mail. Shatner, who played Captain Kirk on "Star Trek" and had a decades-long feud with Takei, rants on a new YouTube video: "The whole thing makes me feel badly, poor man. There is such a sickness there. It's so patently obvious that there is a psychosis there." Takei insists he buried the hatchet and did send out an invite. But Shatner rants: "He has continued to speak badly about me for all these years. Obviously, hiding his homosexuality - talk about festering and not living the truth of your life and feeling bad about yourself."

Reeke story making the rounds:

Reese Witherspoon's sex shop splurge

Reese Witherspoon went on a spending spree in a London sex shop. The 32-year-old actress reportedly spent £656 on sexy lingerie in Myla - which stocks underwear and sex toys - while visiting the UK city with boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal recently. The 10-minute shop saw Reese splash out on four garments, much to the delight of the Brokeback Mountain actor.

A source told More magazine: "She bought two Trudie camisoles for £199 each and two pairs of Trudie shorts at £129 each, in two different colours - blush pink and grey. Reese was lovely, chatty and down to earth, while Jake couldn't stop smiling."

Although Reese has now returned to her native US to look after her children - Ava, nine and four-year-old Deacon with ex-husband Ryan Philippe - she is rumoured to be planning to buy a house in the UK with Jake, 27.

An estate agent recently revealed she and Jake have been looking for a house in London's exclusive Mayfair district. The estate agent said: "Reese liked places where the entrance wasn't on the street, she was concerned with security issues. "That's not easy to find in central London, but we came up with a few places they both seemed to like."

ET's Thea Andrews talked to George Takei about William Shatner's extended rant attacking former co-star George Takei. Takei tells her that Shatner, in fact, was invited but never responded. He also challenges Shatner to join them in the campaign against Proposition 8.

Takei also responds to statements by Shatner that he waited to come out till he was 70:

Says Takei: "I had been out for decades. Bill just didn't know it, I suppose. And the only thing I had not done was talk to the press about it. But I've been active in gay issues, gay organizations. I was even a member of a gay running club. That's where I met Brad. The only thing I hadn't done was talk to the press, and I guess the press defines what is coming out."

Prop 8 Losing Support In California

Good news out of California, readers!

With less than two weeks to go until election day, more and more voters are saying they'll oppose Proposition 8, a ballot measure looking to overturn same-sex nuptials in the Golden State. And, not surprisingly, the lines are drawn largely by party affiliation:

"Proposition 8, a constitutional amendment that would end same-sex marriage in California, is losing among likely voters, 52 percent to 44 percent, according to a statewide survey released today by the Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC) with funding from The James Irvine Foundation. ... Compared to last month, more Republicans (70% today, 62% September) would vote yes on the measure, which would eliminate the right for same-sex couples to marry that the state Supreme Court granted in May."

Opponents of the measure live primarily in urban areas, like Los Angeles and around San Francisco bay, while supporters live in less cosmopolitan towns. Shocking, right?

This is 15-year-old Miley Cyrus' panty model boyfriend, 20-year-old Justin Gaston having a gay old time at some party a few months ago. Um....where can I get on the Evite mailing list for these kind of parties? I could do without all the Satan eyes and pit jizz, but I'm all for shirtless wrestling. And by that I mean "cuddling and canoodling."

If you add some strobe lights, a Kylie Minogue soundtrack, and a couple of drag queens, this would look exactly like a West Hollywood dance club.

Here's a few more of Gaaaaston in a crop top. Only Miley would date a bitch who wears a fucking half-shirt. Crop shirts are only okay for tops in a hurry who don't want to get a little ass jelly on their shirt hem. And is Gaston drinking a cup full of warm pee pee in the sixth thumbnail? Forget it. I don't want on that Evite list after all. I don't play that pissy pissy shit.

Ambiguity my ass, Jake and his handlesrs could give a rats ass. It's just Jake wearing the same clothes over and over like he always does and now that Chris is tucked safely away on MV, i'm sure he hasn't seen those jeans in ages.

Wonder what happened to make Chris decide to go back to MV full time. Jake was with him whenever he came to NYC and then about the beginning of 2007, Chris moved to LA and he and Jake were attached at the hip. Jake even said in an interview that his best friend lived with him for awhile and house sat for him. Last time Chris was seen with Jake was in a pap pic from the infamous Reeke lovefest in NYC after Heath's death. Chris is in a shot of Jake leaving the hotel with their bags. Bareback Brownshirts! Fey Fascist Loved Fallen Leader

Jörg Haider, the leader of Austria's far-right Alliance for Austria's Future party, died this month in a high-speed car crash. He was drunk. Why was he drunk? Because, of course, he'd just had a terrible fight with his gay lover, who was also his 27-year-old protege and party deputy. After the fight, Haider went to a gay club and drank heavily with male escorts. Did we mention he was the leader of the far-right party? The one that's anti-immigrant and anti-European Union and pro-traditional family values? And that Haider was married with children? Haider's successor and lover, Stefan Petzner, is now speaking openly of his love for his neo-fascist boss.

“He was the man of my life. Our relationship went far beyond friendship,” Mr Petzner, 27, said after only a week in the job, adding that Haider’s wife, Claudia, 52, “did not object” to their relationship. “I only had him. Now I am all alone. I would spend nights with him and his family and that was important for me because I often was afraid to be alone in the dark,” he added.

Haha this story is awesome. Dead gay fascists are basically the best fascists. This is like learning David Duke fucked Trent Lott, right?

Of course there's a rich history of hot far-right homosex among Nazis; the Nazi SA stormtroopers (the brownshirts) were led by Ernst Rohm, flaming queen, and his deputy, Edmund Heines, fellow flaming queen. The stormtroopers were like a big violent fascist gay S&M illegal police force! And Haider, of course, had a soft spot for the Nazis. He praised the SS, downplayed that whole "Holocaust" thing, and routinely made hilarious jokes about how prominent Jewish people were filthy and crooked.

But sad gay fascists have to be all anti-homosexuality in public, because hot gay sex is a decadent liberal sort of activity, and they rely on constitutionally conservative working people for their support. Haider's party got 11% of the vote in Austria's national elections last month, and now they've fired his poor sad young lover. Or demoted him, at least. He's the deputy again, to a 43-year-old divorced guy. Which should end well for everyone.

Here's Petzner crying and maybe confessing his love. Maybe. We don't speak German.

I don't know. I don't think her mother mentions him a lot. I think she'll talk about him when Matilda starts asking questions. When she sees that other kids have daddies, she'll probably ask where her daddy is and then Michelle will have to explain. :(

Today,Germany has the largest Christopher Street LGBT celebration in the world. Before the fascist regime, they had a very proud history of being avant garde and were extremely open and liberal about same sex relationships, and very outspoken about the oppressive government. When I have travelled there, I find the people extremely helpful with understanding their lovely language, and friendly, down-to-earth, and lovely to me. And I love driving on the autobahn! The country should not be forever associated with fascism. They have a two-party democracy, just like a lot of countries do, sometimes with politicians who are corrupt and dishonest, not unlike the US. I find that blogs such as Gawker, in their constant quest for laughs and ratings, publish ignorant posts.

I also love that in these troubled economic times, he doesn't flaunt his position and wealth, just schlepps through the airport in old jeans like the rest of us.

Don't be naive, his clothes are very expensive even if he wears them repeatedly.

Jake's Hair: He should wear it fuller and a bit longer, IMO, like it was during the awards and film festivals for BBM and Zodiac. He's very blessed to have such a rich, full, magnificent head of dark hair, and a great hairline, that really makes his features look dramatic. Cutting it too short makes him look a lot younger and less dramatic. He should enjoy it while he has it, in case some day (quelle horreur!) it thinks out on him when he's older. Not that that can't be attractive too.

Arrivederci: Anne Hathaway's Ex Headed to Prison

Well, we know someone who won't be paying Raffaello Follieri any conjugal visits.

Despite his appeal for leniency, Anne Hathaway's Italian ex-boyfriend was sentenced to four and a half years in prison Thursday for bilking investors of $2.4 million by posing as an attaché for the Vatican in order to snatch up unused Roman Catholic Church property on the cheap.

On Sept. 10, Follieri, 30, pleaded guilty to eight counts of wire fraud, five counts of money laundering and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. As part of the deal, the disgraced businessman, whom prosecutors called a "sophisticated scam artist," also agreed to forfeit all the money he "made," as well as 12 watches and nine pieces of jewelry purchased with shadily obtained sums.

And considering he had been facing up to 265 years in prison if he had been convicted of weightier charges, he also waived his right to appeal any prison sentence shorter than five years and three months.

Morning Piss: What Can We Do, Ellen?

“She’s just talking about it everywhere she goes.”
—Response from an Ellen DeGeneres chum, regarding the recently wed (to go-to vixen Portia de Rossi) talk-show host, who’s taking an admirably strong stand against Prop 8, which would make gay marriage illegal in the state of California.

Ironically, I asked DeGeneres’ publicist for a direct quote from E.D. herself, but was told no, as she felt Awful Truth readers were already going to be voting against the prop, anyway. Obviously, she hasn’t read the comments section lately.

Some folks are still stuck in a miserable denial of rights to everyone.

But what truly pisses me off is the fact that we’re even having this discussion, period. Why aren’t we using these heated energies for saving lives, whether it be from cancer, AIDS, Iraq, drugs, take your friggin’ pick? Why all the time spent on hating others, everybody?

Jeez. It’s so pathetically and predictably American, too. Sometimes this country just reeks of provincialism, not sophistication. Says the dude who burps and farts way too much (says the husband) and who has no intention of moving to France, so don’t even try that, all you malcontent commenting types. Have a nice day, everybody!

Anderson Cooper is Not the Press-Shy Kitten He Pretends to Be

We all love Anderson Cooper. No one wants to make America's silver fox out to be some sort of hypocrite or anything, and he's certainly a good, down to earth journalist. But can we just pause and call bullshit for a second?

But Cooper isn’t into the usual contrivances of the magazine profile—there will be no lunch at a trendy restaurant, no “hanging out”—though this has less to do with his view of journalism (you go to the story, the story doesn’t come to you, you don’t create scenes, and so on) than it does with his discomfort with being the subject instead of the interviewer. It’s “weird,” he says, this penetrating-question stuff. He doesn’t like to think of himself as someone who fascinates beyond his ability to report and deliver news. He insists he is neither interested in nor does he read anything that’s written about him, including (perhaps particularly including) the daily panting in the blogosphere, where catty speculation about his personal life has become a genre in and of itself. He considers following his own fame to be a waste of his time. “No offense,” he says, “but I won’t read this article, either.”

The man is Gloria Vanderbuilt's son, for chrissakes. He has spent his life in the public eye, and if he was really that uncomfortable being talked about, he shouldn't make frequent guest appearances on Regis and Kelly. He'd be living it up in a foreign country, or helping sick children (or adopting them?), or whatever it is that rich philanthropists do when they want to stay out of the public limelight.

Starring on your own news show though? Not exactly for those so disdainful of the medium as Anderson pretends to be.

Rendition was a box-office flop, but it was one of the most brilliant films of 2007."

IT WAS??? According to whom? The film's screenplay was very simplistic and very cliched--qualities that a lot of critics pointed out in their review of the film. Also, Reese was miscast, Jake was uninteresting and mediocre--and Meryl was playing Miranda Priestly at the State Department. The only actor who got good notices was Peter S.

The film itself addressed an important issue but did so in a way that was insultingly simple-minded, over-the-top and stupid. And again, if you go back and read the reviews on RottenTomatoes.com, you'll see that.

Zodiac, on the other hand, DID get very good reviews. (Honestly, I though it was overly long and ponderous but a FAR better film than the dumb Rendition.)

What happened? Something.

Or nothing special? Maybe after Rendition release reeking was planned from the start.

Anonymous said...

I do think he's under a lot of pressure, and don't wonder that although Zodiac and Rendition were wonderful films, they didn't do well at the Box Office, and we all know what that means. I'm sure it distressed him, and I wonder if that lead to him wanting to do a film that would be more popular.

I didn't find Rendition to be cliched at all, anything but - I liked that it explored the cultural gap - the people were played as having hopes and dreams not so different than Americans, especially the young couple, I thought it said a lot with symbolism, but maybe not enough time spent on Douglas' thoughts about it and his job, that could have been explored a little more. Maybe it could have been longer, but it's a tough call for a filmmaker, what to include and what length to make a film.

A similar movie was Body of Lies, and I thought the character really showed a good respect and admiration for a different culture. Douglas' character seemed a bit uncomfortable, & understandably so, with a different culture, and reaching out to it, as was seen when he makes that long walk to meet and shake hands with Abasi Fawal (interesting that the name Abasi means stern in Egyptian), I think that could have been explored more. Both films an interesting take on Americans trying to understand and deal with a culture completely different than their own. :)

^^There you have it. These movies are thought-provoking and have a lot to say, as well as being entertaining - Rendition was beautifully & artistically filmed Body of Lies was more action/adventure - but generally people aren't going to see these types of films. I hope they will still be made for those who want to see them. Russell Crowe is a fabulous actor - a chameleon, and Leo and Jake had comparable roles, I thought, just different jobs. And Mark Strong was wonderful.

I agree. Or perhaps just limited. So far as Ive seen. Time will tell.

Ang used him beautifully. Very miscast in Zodiac, the weakest part of the film - why did Fincher want him? Even Jake apparently couldnt figure out why. A couple of crucial scenes that "fans" applauded loudly were given the bronx cheer even by some of those on the directors cut commentary.

Rendition - only in one of the deleted scenes did he show some understanding of the character. Fault of young writers and director, partly.

Graysmith is a total outsider – in relation both to the straight, nononsense newspapermen he works with and to the excesses of San Francisco’s counterculture. He doesn’t drink or smoke. In an age of rampant hedonism, Graysmith is that most unappreciated of creatures, the heroic square. Gyllenhaal brings an authentic intensity to the role that perfectly evokes the idealism of the crusader and the obsessiveness of the crazy.
