Stretching It

Let’s have a moment of silence for the end of one of H’wood’s golden couples—shimmering, as far as their hair is concerned, anyway. Blondies Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe are officially and totally divorced as of this week, tho both parties really, in their hearts (and other sweaty locales), had jumped ship before they separated back in '06.

Both R&R appear more than okeydoke with the way things turned out—but we bet Reesikins has def been declared the winner in this battle of the exes. Ry’s got his poor-man’s Reese replacement, Aussie Abbie Cornish, while Witherbabe possesses two of the most coveted men in H’wood: Oscar and Jake Gyllenhaal. The Gyllenspork (are these verbal fusings making you puke as much as we are, yet?) guy ‘n’ gal are still going, against all odds, par-tick all over Hell-Ay. In fact, guess how the amour babes celebrated Reesie’s Big D? Romantic din din at Cut, full of love-nothing’s and well-done proclamations for each other? A night of naughty lovemaking up at the Madonna Inn? Nope.

Yoga. Yeah, R dragged her buff beau to a stretch class at Santa Monica’s YogaHop on a Saturday afternoon. Is this how the supposedly sexiest duo in T-town really breaks a sweat? Either that or she couldn’t stand a single second (or photo op) away from her fella. Our sly exercising source said the celebs, each with their own personal yoga mat, were supercute together, with R.W. keeping Jakey-boy as comfortable as possible for his first yoga class at this peaceful place.

The adorable dolls did their best downward-facing dogs and lotus poses without any PDAs and slipped out early, prolly to avoid the after-class crowd. Wouldn’t be surprised if the BFF babes hightailed it over to the mall for a facial and matching mani-pedi makeovers.

OK, thanks.

from previous comments:
But perhaps what that poster was trying to say was that Jake's parents provided a very supportive environment for Jake and continue to do so, while Heath's were far away and not in the industry.

Well yes, but that has nothing to do with Heath's death. Because mummy's boys like Jake die all the time, too. And guys like Heath who live far from home go on living all the time as well. Heath also spent last christmas at home with his family and by all accounts had a wonderful time, yet he died a month later anyway. So I fail to see the really repulsive link that the poster was trying to make - that Heath died because his loser family didn't love him as much as the morally superior Gyllenhaals love their children.

If Heath had reasons to be depressed it was because he hardly got to see his daughter, not his family.

Gay men and heterosexual women have similarly shaped brains, research shows

^^^ It's all in the genes:

Striking similarities between the brains of gay men and straight women have been discovered by neuroscientists, offering fresh evidence that sexual orientation is hardwired into our neural circuitry.

Scans reveal homosexual men and heterosexual women have symmetrical brains, with the right and left hemispheres almost exactly the same size. Conversely, lesbians and straight men have asymmetrical brains, with the right hemisphere significantly larger than the left.

Me too.

That poster thinks the Gyllenhaals are the epitome of perfection and morality (LOL) whereas Heath's parents are divorced so they have new families, new lives which must mean they couldn't possibly love their children as much as still married parents. Umm WHAT? How can someone compare parents’ love for their kids? How can they claim to "know"? Talk about being narrow minded and totally disgusting.

Makes sense. Many gay men perceived themselves to be gay and acted gay from early childhood.

I don't think neither Jake is nor Heath was 100% straight. Jake is bisexual in my opinion and Heath perhaps was bi too, but he definitely prefered women.

If Heath had reasons to be depressed it was because he hardly got to see his daughter, not his family.

Supposedly Michelle didn't let him see the child as often as he wanted. Just rumors of course.

Reese is the worst-dressed and she's also lost her cuteness. There's nothing appealing about her.

Anonymous said...

"Even in a culture that often cycles through moments of bisexual chic — Britney and Madonna, make way for Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson (photographed smooching in Cannes, France) — and despite survey data showing that young people, in particular, are open to sexual experimentation, bisexuality still tends to be treated as a novelty, a titillating fluke, a phase or even a cover for homosexuality. Dr. Chivers herself was an author of a 2005 study using similar methods that found that men who called themselves bisexual were significantly more aroused by one gender, usually by men.

I wonder if Heath was the type of guy who could have had the greatest family and support system in the world, but still would have gone his own way. He seemed like such an independent spirit, and you can't interfere with that. He was doing what he loved, in his own way. Unfortunately for him, his life ended far too soon. I only wish that he had found more benign stress/sleep relief. I'm happy that Jake has his family and those close to him nearby.

The posted did say "I think". First post:

Please don't attack me for saying this, but if Heath Ledger had such a great family and support, I don't think he'd be dead now.
I know he had parents, but they were divorced and had new families.
I don't think they were as good as the Gyllenhaals as parents.
Jake's mom always looks like she adores her children. I'm glad Jake has her.

Who Are the Difficult Actors Missing From the All-Strop Team?

Temperamental and/or difficult actors are nothing new, of course, but as alluded to earlier today in our glimpse at the new-and-slightly-spiritually-improved Mike Myers, it takes a special kind of difficult to make the "stroppy" cut. To wit, does your rep for tantrums, whining and/or demanding final cut equal or exceed your rep for such actions making your films better? Then you might be headed for the All-Strop Team, as laid out today by Guardian contributor Andrea Hubert: Folks like Edward Norton (the captain), Eddie Murphy (the leadoff hitter, if only for knowing when to take a walk on Pluto Nash), Gwyneth Paltrow (the cleanup hitter, for publicly referring to her film View From the Top as View From My Ass) and others.

But who else should make the cut? A few more possible draftees — plus your own recommendations — after the jump.

Jake Gyllenhaal: Infamously clashed with David Fincher on the set of Zodiac and cried in the press afterward, to which co-star Mark Ruffalo responded with little sympathy. More recently was reported to be dreamily whimpering around the set of David O. Russell's stop-start satire Nailed.

Katherine Heigl: Last week withdrew herself from consideration for an Emmy repeat for Grey's Anatomy, arguing that her role didn't benefit from "the material this season to warrant [a] nomination." As you can imagine, the show's staff supported her zero percent.

Jim Carrey: After early run of hits, managed to alienate studios and directors alike with excessive salary demands and minor on-set idiosyncrasies like pissing in the middle of scenes. For the dual suicides of overbudgeted projects Used Guys and Ripley's Believe it Or Not, we're starting him in front of Paltrow (and he'll probably bitch about that, too).

Debra Winger: Never met a co-star in the early '80s about whom she couldn't find something to hate, from Richard Gere in An Officer and a Gentleman to her fart-target screen mom Shirley Maclaine in Terms of Endearment. But she can laugh about it now! Sort of!

Mike Myers: Made Penelope Spheeris cry. That's stroppy.

Oops- Anne Hathaway Dumps Loser BF

Anonymous said...

Which starlet with an often-troubled boyfriend actually plays for the other team — and puts up with her boy toy's habits to maintain hetero appearances?

So, is this BI about Anne? No other candidates?

Anonymous said...

EXCLUSIVE: Devil Wears Prada star Anne Hathaway splits from long-time love

The Devil Wears Prada actress Anne Hathaway put on a brave face at her latest film premiere last night after breaking up with long-term boyfriend Raffaello Follieri, the Mail Online can reveal. The 25-year-old movie star ended her four year relationship with Italian-American businessman, 29, over the weekend.

The Brokeback Mountain star's decision follows over a year of scandal linked to Follieri. Last week, it was reported his charity Follieri Foundation, which funded vaccination programmes in developing countries, was being investigated by the New York State Attorney General's Office.

An insider tells the Mail Online that Hathaway made the painful decision to end their relationship because of the effects his controversial business dealings could have on her career.

Hathaway served as a director on the charity's board until some time last year, with her rep saying: 'Since she is no longer associated with the foundation, why would you expect her to be familiar with all of this,' when asked about the investigation. A source said: 'It's heartbreaking for her to dump him, and she's devastated that it's come to this, but she really didn't have a choice. His scandals were hurting her reputation.'

"So, is this BI about Anne? No other candidates?"

There probably are other candidates, but there's been BIs like this before that fit Anne so she's always the most obvious choice. On ONTD anyway. I don't know about anywhere else.

Anonymous said...

So obviously Anne Hathaway. I wonder why she's still with her dodgy guy, though. He's going down hill fast. There were rumours about her and Emily Blunt as well as a blind item about her and Heather Matterizo (sp?) on the set of those Princess diaries films.

Interesting.

When Will Anne Hathaway Dump Her Loser Boyfriend?

Anne Hathaway can be so very dense. Her friend and fellow starlet Kate Hudson tried to warn the actress that her Italian boyfriend Rafaello Follieri was a loser, but Hathaway got pissed instead of listening. But the evidence keeps adding up. First he squandered tens of millions of Bill Clinton's dollars on penthouses and vacations when it was supposed to be used to redevelop Catholic properties. Then he got arrested for writing a $215,000 check against an account with $39 in it (to a PR firm no less — genius). Now his "Follieri Foundation," which supposedly vaccinates children in third-world countries, is under investigation by the state Attorney General for allegedly not filing basic tax-disclosure form. Now Anne's caught up in the mess because she used to sit on the foundation's board, probably because Follieri set it up to impress her and distract the winsome starlet from what a total scuzz he is. Who Are the Difficult Actors Missing From the All-Strop Team?

One of the comments:

"Just worked on a couple of shows with Myers and can't disagree with anything written aside from the "gay" thing... overheard him talking to someone he's friends with about his girl friend of 18 months. I know that doesn't disqualify him, but I don't get the "gay" vibe from him. Who knows...

I usually cut these stars some slack because it is their face out there for the public to ridicule, but that's no excuse for being a dick. What's worse is I don't think Myers even enjoys his success. He seems too preoccupied with being miserable and disappointed with everyone around him.

On the flip side let me mention "stars" I have worked who have a great attitude and are a joy to work with:

Jack Black, Samuel Jackson, Will Smith, Adam Sandler, Justin Timberlake and (surprisingly) Quentin Tarentino.

They always show up on time, are professional and make working on a show fun. Black and Jackson in particular are the kind of people you would love to hang out with. There are others but that's off the top of my head."

Anonymous said...

^^^ One more:

"Thank you for reaffirming my faith in Quentin Tarantino! The man seems to genuinely LOVE movies and if he was miserable and cynical about his profession, then all hope would be lost.

Also, Jake Gyllenhaal MAY be a bit of a baby but David Fincher has a bit of a rep himself (although Brad Pitt does seem to be able to work with him repeatedly.) And David O. Russell? Well, "stroppy" reportedly doesn't even BEGIN to describe him - so props to Jake for choosing to work with challenging directors..."

Sophia Bush's Two Good Men

According to the rumor mill, One Tree Hill star Sophia Bush is dating not one but two eligible bachelors: Oscar nominee Jake Gyllenhaal and actor Austin Nichols (Glory Road). "We all met up on a hike and, apparently, I'm with both of them," she says of the tabloid buzz. "If I have to be in the company of men, I'm glad it's those two."

In reality, Bush is single and has been separated since October from her costar and husband of only five months, Chad Michael Murray. So, how has it been working with her ex? "We're professionals. It's my job. It's not really a big deal," she told us at a recent New York City event to promote the new One Tree Hill soundtrack, Friends with Benefit (proceeds will go toward the National Breast Cancer Foundation). "My life is really great. I can't begin to complain."

Is Ted slowly trying to get out of the mess he created in the first place? I still think he saw something, but interpreted too much into it and built on it due to good reception. Take a look at how Jake behaves around people he likes, he is very intimate with them, it could lead to misunderstandings.

I'm sure that Reeke's PR teams (if not the stars themselves)surf the online gossip sites and the comments. A while ago in IHJ,it was posted that some girls met Jake with IHJ posters and he commented that he knew the site. Every time there are pap pics, there isn't a single gossip site that at least half the comments are about how fake phonyspoon is. With that, I'm curious how much longer they are willing to go on with all the fakeness. The relationship has served it's purpose-they've both changed their public perception. I think the longer phonyspoon goes on now, it's going to start making them look bad because more and more people believe it's a fake relationship.

Jake was nominated for Zodiac last year for best actor for these awards, not exactly a teen film and Reese wo fro best actress for Walk the Line, again not a teen flick.

Jake and Reese's PR/interns probably determined that the negativre comments on sites are coming from that same place: BBM fans, a audience that they want to get rid of and it's working. Eveen though his online fandom is dying, it's really dying among that fanbase.

Jarhead, Zodiac and Rendition didn't bring new fans.

9:22am, it means that Jake signed a contract to portray the role of a good looking, well liked young man who seemingly everything-money, looks, personality and fame. But, the young man has rumours following him about being bi or gay and he feels this is holding him back from getting the big money, big fame movie roles. So his role is to starting dating this famous actress who is ageing and desperate after her husband finally dumps her after he's been misrable for many years, and they fall so much in love that suddenly all of Holloywood's powers that be are tripping over themselves to offer them huge movie roles and give them A++++++ movie careers. The name of this drama? Phoonyspoon. So far, both actors have not given award winning performances.

Anonymous said...

Just Jared is even referring to Jake as Mrs. Witherspoon. He no longer has an identity of his own.

A battle of past and future Mrs. Witherspoons will be going down at this year’s Teen Choice Awards. Current squeeze Jake Gyllenhaal and ex-husband Ryan Phillippe will be battling it out for male actor in a drama. Jake starred in Rendition while Ryan was in Stop-Loss.

Ted's "sly" excercising source: Tay, tay from this blog:

http://myfavshiz.blogspot.com/2008/06/couple-that-does-yoga-together-stays.html

Of course it was already posted here along with the People blurb. He or I sould say his intern don't even bother trying anymore. From the notation of the personal yoga mats that was noted here (Jake is a clean freak, admits to showering several times a day and wearing socks with flip flops when you really should be barefoot for this)
to the fake that she was an expert and he a novice to them leaving early, lifted from this blog, that I'm sure was on Becky's google alert. The only dif: tay said that they were so in love he says no pda which is silly, during a yoga class?? And of course the caty remark about facials, please Jake hasn't gone for a facial since his days with Kiki I bet.

If Ted and his intern don't have any thing to say regarding them and have to gleam from other blogs they need to claim their sourceBlogs, people or just don't even bother.

PS: And please don't say that he had a seperate source, also she was officially divorced last Oct., they already "celebrated" in Oct. in Rome.

Zodiac is very interesting movie but didn't add to his fanbase. New fangirls and boys will help only if they are willing to spend their money on his movies.

By Andrea Chang, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
June 13, 2008
The gig: As the self-proclaimed "Queen of All Media," Hilton has become a pop culture phenom with his Hollywood gossip blog, which draws about 7 million page views a day. PerezHilton.com is filled with snarky comments and paparazzi photos and helped usher in 24-hour celebrity "info-tainment."

Education: Bachelor's degree in drama from New York University.

Former jobs: Publicist, actor and journalist at gay publications and tabloid Star magazine.

Got the idea: Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, began blogging as a hobby after seeing how easy it was. He focused on Hollywood "because it was something I was inherently curious about, fascinated with. And, let's face it, celebrities -- a lot of them -- are crazy."

Along the path: Started his blog, then called PageSixSixSix, in 2004 with a post about Howard Stern. Within months, tabloid TV show "The Insider" dubbed it "Hollywood's most-hated website." This led to a huge boost in Web traffic.

Name change: After getting sued by the New York Post, which publishes gossip section Page Six, Hilton changed the blog's name to PerezHilton.com. The name reflects his Cuban roots and "the wacky world of celebrities." And what does pal Paris Hilton think? "She loves it."

How it works: Hilton, 30, constantly checks his e-mail, text messages and voice mail and scours the Web for the latest gossip on "A-listers to D-listers to Z-listers," updating his blog an average of 40 times a day. His sources include publicists, agents, managers, dog walkers, nannies and celebrities themselves. Advertisers pay as much as $54,000 to run a one-day ad package on the site.

First big purchase: A new Toyota Camry.

Most surreal moment: When Madonna made him a video in which she seductively asked, "Who do you love more: me or [Hilton's dog] Teddy?" Naturally, Hilton posted the clip -- and his response -- on his blog.

Guilty pleasure: "Cheesy pop music," especially British group Girls Aloud.

The Perez brand: Hilton debuted a clothing line, sold exclusively at retail chain Hot Topic, last week. He also appears in a summer movie, "Another Gay Sequel: Gays Gone Wild," hosts a syndicated radio show, is writing a book on celebrities and is in talks to start his own record label. "I want my own little empire."

What fame hasn't brought: Hilton dishes that "in 2007, I got laid once. One time. Which, for a gay man, is unheard of. That's like, celibate."

In his own words: "I think what I do is noble. I think my job title is entertainer. I shine the light on celebrities behaving badly, and I also shine the light on those that get it right. And those that get it right, I applaud."

Sex is overated. I heart Perez, because he used gossip and the internet to launch a record label, radio show, clothing line, in other words he used it to promote himself and admits it. He is the go to person for PR, agents, etc, they use him to float crap, sometime bypassing the usual People, Us gauntlet.

He is a pig but you know what, most gossip bloggers are, and I love the fact that most of them are jealous of him, they won't admit it in public but they must be.

Lance Armstrong and Kate Hudson in NYC last night kissing & holding hands.

Lainey has a series of photos of them that show what a couple having a hot love affair look like. (Also the snog video @ The Sun.)

I don't particularly care about these two, but they are sexy with each other. His hand on her back, the way he takes her hand.

There hasn't been a SINGLE photo of Reeke where I thought anything but...awkward. Zero sexual charge. Nada.

I know I'm repeating what many here have said, but it's just weird, even for a fauxmance.

We all know Reese is a prude, so that's fine for her. But what about Jake? He needs to bring the juice to his role as Boytoy to Reese's Miss Ellie.

The Creepy Brit Who's Destroying The Honorable Craft Of Celebrity Journalism

OK! is the celebrity magazine that is the most willingly manipulated by celebrity flacks, which is really saying something. So it's perfectly appropriate that the magazine just promoted sleazy former celebrity uberflack Rob Shuter to its executive editor position. That's because Shuter is skilled at doing the two things that OK! is most famous for: lying on behalf of celebrities, and losing other people's money. Even he, the great fabulist, couldn't write a more sickening script than this.

Who is Rob Shuter? Once upon a time, he was one of the most powerful celebrity flacks in America, repping clients like Paris Hilton and Jessica Simpson. Eventually he got fired from his agency, Dan Klores Communications, lost his big clients, and ended up at OK!, which is really where he belongs. ...

DNfromMN - Movie Review - Get Smart

GET SMART
Release Date: 6/20/08

The Story: Maxwell Smart (Steve Carell) is promoted to being a secret agent for CONTROL after the evil KAOS breaks in and steals/starts killing agents. Smart and Agent 99 (Anne Hathaway) are tasked with rescuing the world from KAOS’s stolen nuclear weapons.

I’m in the process of moving so we’ll make this quick.

Dwayne Johnson – hot, clothes fit well (VERY well), no shirtlessness, sorry ladies.

Steve Carell – Funny, does a little bit of a Don Adams (original Maxwell Smart) voice at times, but plays it like Steve Carell. The man won’t win an Oscar for his schtick, but he can read his lines funny. (Also, I find him kinda hot.)

Anne Hathaway – The girl is beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Again, no acting awards here, but pulls her weight.

The ending is kinda lame.

What It’s Worth: $7.50. I won’t go full out on a weekend full price ticket on this one. You’ll feel like you were entertained fully, but while I was entertained, I don’t know that I would put it as something I’d watch multiple times.

Jake still has many fans, but ever sice he got together with Reese I noticed a decrease in interest in him, but I'm sure with his next movies, especially with PoP, fans will come back or new fans will be added to the fandom.

Anonymous said...

There are still a lot of Darko fanboys out there and they are excited that Jake aka Donnie Darko is doing Pop. When the news was announced some did a mock poster of Jake saying "From Donnie Darko to Prince of Persia". No mention of any of the films in between because you can bet they skipped them, The DD fans are Jake's age now and into video games, reaching back to your original fanbase is something he proably wants and that will even distance himself even further away from the brokies.

Anonymous said...

Jake's fanbase will keep dwindling. It may surge briefly with PoP but will quickly die back down again and he can go back to being soccer dad with his beard.

I doubt he wants to distance himself from any of his fanbases. Most actors want all the fans they can get, I would imagine, because they come and go. DD and BBM fans are probably some of the most loyal, and that can be counted on as a fanbase. Why would anyone want to distance themselves from that? It doesn't make sense.

Sorry, but you don't make sense.

DD fans are not necessary Jake fans (I know few).
People who don't bother to watch Jake's movies are not fans.
How could doing PoP distance Jake from BBM fans?

I hope PoP brings a lot of attention to Jake. Reese will hate it. She only likes it when the focus of the relationship is on her.

I totally agree. For one, we don't know for sure that he's bearding, and secondly, if he is, I don't believe it is personally directed at any of his fans. If he is, it's something that he's decided to do, either by direction from whoever is advising him for his career, or wanting to maintain his privacy, etc. I'm not happy about it because I feel it isn't good for him, but it's his life. If people no longer feel they can look to him for support, there are plenty of out actors to whom they can look.

Doug Liman Calls Moon Project An Ode To America

It took roughly eight years from the time President John F. Kennedy announced that America would be entering the space race to the day that Neil Armstrong first stepped on the moon. It may take that long until director Doug Liman gets to join him. “I want to have a locked script before I start shooting. That’s my goal,” Liman recently told MTV News of the long gestating “Moon” project he’s been developing with Jake Gyllenhaal, which just recently picked up a new writer.

Which means it’s back to the drawing board, at least in part. But while Liman is keeping plot details a secret (they may change anyway), he’s certain the patriotic tone of the movie will remain consistent with his current vision.

“It’s a celebration of America. Even though it’s a present day story it’s a celebration of the fact that in 1969 we sent a man to the moon,” Liman enthused. “Just think about what a car in 1969 looked like! It’s insane that we pulled that off. No other country on the planet could have done something that great.”

Gyllenhaal is committed to star in “The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time,” which has a tentative release date of June 16, 2009.

After the jump, Daily Show correspondents Jamie Oliver and Jason Jones learn a little lesson the difference between marrying for love and marrying for a citizenship. Best line goes to Oliver: “I want to be sodomized by your constitution.” Who doesn’t?!

My feelings right now about Jake is that he a cruel greedy man. How could he turn his back on a group of fans who loved him so much. The worst was how he handled Heaths death publicly. It was the worst thing he could do and I will never forgive him.

Anonymous said...

You know, it's very interesting to contrast the tremendous outpouring of tributes toward Tim Russert, the condolences paid to his family and his son Luke appearing this Monday on the Today show where he talked about his father with Matt Lauer--with how Hollywood treated Heath's death--the people who initially honored him were a few directors who had worked with him (Todd Haynes, Ang Lee, Chris Nolan) and DDL, who didn't even know him but had greatly admired his work but yet most of HW said nothing---thinking their silence was some sort of faux gesture of decency--and yet contrast that with the Russert tributes--it's quite amazing isn't it?

Anonymous said...

My feelings right now about Jake is that he a cruel greedy man.

I'm sorry but I must agree with you. It's so sad to see this individual he has become or maybe this is who he always was. He managed to fool me for 2 years and to think how much I loved and admired him. I was such an obsessed Jake fan! Now the only thing that interests me about him is his fauxmance, I’m curious to see where Reeke will end up. :/

Me too 8.33. And I'll never go see a Jake or Reese movie because I'll always think ugh! King & Queen of fake. I learned about how HW PR manipulates the public through J&R, and that will always be at the back of my mind when I see them...
Wonder if the teen market will buy into Jake. Maybe they'll discover all about TT. hee hee!

Anonymous said...

What?! no pics of daddy Jake with Reese's kids for father's day? after all that trumpeting done by their PR?
Guess those kids know they have a real daddy....that's another thing that disgusts me about J&R, how they use innocent kids to further their fauxmance. Great Mom indeed!

Anonymous said...

Oh please like they had anything to do with some bored intern bs rag story.

Those kids aren't as dumb as some of you that obsess and actually believe some of that crap, how old are you anyway?

There were a few pap pics from Fathers day of Ryan shopping with Deacon for food with a few cases of corona beer at the bottom of his shopping cart, what a dad!!

Anonymous said...

" Yes, we know Jake's bearding 6:30 PM."

We certainly do. It's as clear as the nose on anyone's face. PoP provided Jake with 10 million reasons to beard, notwithstanding his semi-meltdown last fall.

And when you combine his near-silence after Rome, which oozes shame, internal conflict given his political background and cognitive dissonance, his pathological fear of straight all-male company (classic Will and Grace syndrome), the near absence of his family, who are probably trying very hard to preserve their own dignity, and Ted's consistent hints, it's so obvious.

Even when he's bearding, Jake looks gay. Billy Crystal was no fool.

And neither are we. The movie audience he had to secure - creepy fan girls who read US Weekly, Star and People like the New York Times - are clearly impressed. They're so loony that they lied about their identity on AfterElton to drive up Jake's poll numbers. The fangirls will see PoP in droves, and that's why he secured the deal.

Anonymous said...

My dad bought beer and I grew up just fine. Ryan took his kid shopping at some point and the picture was posted on Father's Day. After everything you've learned here does it not occur to you that the picture could have been many days old? Pictures never show up the very day they are taken. Reese was in Japan that week right? So he must have had the kids all week. Perfect time for Ryan to parade them out for a petting zoo trip or a sunny walk on the beach but you didn't see that. I think he seems like a very good dad.

Anonymous said...

some bored intern bs rag story.
you should know by now that most "bs rag stories" are PR sanctioned.

Those kids aren't as dumb as some of you that obsess and actually believe some of that crap, how old are you anyway?
Who said the kids are dumb? they get dragged around by their 'super' mom because they are too young to say no. How old are you anyway not to understand that?

So if you are a good father you don't drink in front of your kids, is it? which era and planet are you from, 10.07? LOL!

His name was Boo. from the novel 'To kill a Mockingbird' which Jake says is one of his favorite books. Atticus Finch is a character in it too.

Boo disappeared quite sometime back. I don't think anyone knows what happened to him.

Anonymous said...

I think that Jake's behaviour after Heath died could be perceived as disrespectful by some, but why would it be a slap in the face to the fans? You have to realize he doesn't owe us anything.

Marlon Brando said the only thing an actor owes the public is not to bore them.

But I think to say an actor owes his fans nothing is like saying the president of the United States owes nothing to the people who elected him.

Jake's fans help put him where he is. By going to his movies, they pay for his house, his car, the very clothes on his back. They give him his status (such as it is) through their $upport, and they can take it away with their lack of support.

Actors hate this covenenat, because they think of themselves as artistes, but they are in a business.

Jake's job is to help create and sell entertainment to YOU. Like anyone who sells the public a product – a product that the public spends its hard-earned cash on - he owes his customers (fans) an honest product. And he owes the customers who give him money a certain measure of consideration and respect.

I'd say the same for any professional, actor or president.

As for Heath, Jake didn't owe the fans anything on this, but I think he owed Heath something.

Austin new movie “Prayers for Bobby”:

Sigourney Weaver to make Lifetime movie

Three-time Oscar nominee Sigourney Weaver's next film project won't be on the big screen.

The "Gorillas in the Mist" and "Aliens" star will take the lead role and co-produce a film for Lifetime called "Prayers for Bobby," scheduled to debut in February. She'll play Mary Griffith, a woman who initially rejects her son's homosexuality, then becomes an advocate for gay rights after his death.

Based on Leroy Aarons' book, "Prayers for Bobby" centers on Mary Griffith, a devout Presbyterian who raises her children in strict accordance with church teachings. But when her son Bobby confesses he might be gay, she won't accept it and instead urges him to pray more and seek out a "cure." Bobby obeys, but he also spirals into depression and eventually commits suicide.

An update for the Gyllenhaalics

When I casually mentioned a couple posts ago that I’d be interviewing Jake Gyllenhaal, I had no idea there’d be a tidal wave of his fans, mostly from iheartjake.com, rushing to my blog with a million questions for the star.

As it turned out, I happened to be his last interview that day, so after speaking for 15 minutes about his new film Rendition, there was just enough time for me to squeeze in a couple extra questions from the Gyllenhaalics. Here, below, are his replies:

Me: Many of your fans are wondering if you still have Boo, your puggle? They haven’t seen him in a while.
Jake: (After a few seconds pause, then a sigh of what sounds like lament, he looks to the floor and responds) “I don’t have my puggle … I don’t have my puggle.”

Me: Do you ever read anything about yourself on the Internet?
Jake: (Another pause) “Sometimes people send me funny things … I’ll leave it at that.”

Me: Do you know about the Jake in ‘08 presidential campaign? It was a MySpace page but it got taken down recently.
Jake: “Wow, no, I don’t.”

Me: I hear you’re really into food — how do you feel about cilantro? Some people love it but other people think it tastes like soap.
Jake: “Oh, I really don’t like cilantro! It’s like the only herb I don’t like.”
Me: It’s a very divisive herb.
Jake: “It is.”

And to answer some other, more general queries: Yes, he’s tall — about six feet; Yes, he’s definitely just as “scrumptious” in person (and a great dresser, unlike his friend and co-star Peter Sarsgaard, who wasn’t wearing any socks at the press conference); and, Yes, he still cycles (he even noticed a little chain mark on my leg and thought it was pretty cool).

Later, when he walked on stage at the press conference, he somehow managed to spot me in the crowd of journalists. Before he sat down, he pointed right at me and gave a little wink, which basically turned me to mush. And what did I do in response? The lamest, most embarrassing thing I possibly could’ve done: I smiled, and gave him the thumbs-up. Horrible. Straight out of Wayne’s World. Biggest regret of my life.

So there you go, guys. Hope that keeps you satisfied for the next little while. Maybe I’ll get to interview him again next year and we can reconnect.

Prayers for Bobby: A Mother's Coming to Terms with the Suicide of Her Gay Son

Very painful and personal, this is the story of a mother's struggle to reconcile the tension between her deeply held religious beliefs and the suicide of her gay son. Mary Griffith came from a religious family and raised her four children to believe in God and live a Christian life. Their conservative Presbyterian church was the center of family life for every family member except Mary's husband, Bob. When 17-year-old Bobby confided to older bother Ed that he was gay, the family's life changed. Mary convinced Bobby to pray that God would cure him and to seek solace in church activities. Bobby did it all, but the church's hatred of homosexuality and the obvious pain his gayness was causing his family led him increasingly to loathe himself. Excerpts from a diary he kept, family photos, and letters written by Mary to her dead son make the book intense reading for both high-school and public library patrons.

To me, this one was a little heartbreaking to hear. This once troubled actor who has peaked and valleyed between A and C list his entire career depending on his drug use was thought to be clean and enjoying some big success once again. However, it is just that success that may have caused his most recent slip. Oh, he slipped alright. Twice is what I hear. Separate nights. The question is going to be whether it was truly just a slip or if this is going to be another long, twisted spiral downward.

Justin Timberlake Totally Putting From His Guy Friend's Rough

Justin Timberlake's best friend Trace Ayala says that JT is always naked around him. Uh huh. Ok. Go on. He also says that he wasn't bothered at all by seeing his best buddy twerk a Speedo in his new flick The Love Guru, because apparently Justin's hanglow is in full swing up in his urea (yeah, I used a "u") fulltime.

"I see the kid naked all the time, so if he is wearing a Speedo, I'm like 'Yeah! He actually has clothes on!," says Ayala. What's going on with these two strange rangers? I think there's some paddy-whack happening! Some flippy-floppy down below deck! Someone's rodeo clown is in someone else's barrel! Ayala and Timberlake share a clothing line together, as well as a giant bottle of Astroglide, apparently.

Covering for his best pal and their love that dare not speak its name, Ayala says that he thinks Timberlake's monstrous beard, Jessica Biel, is a nice girl. And that he hopes they tie the knot soon. He probably said this while averting his eyes from the interviewer and sighing.

"You know, I have never seen him with anyone like that -- ever," Trace says. "She is the best. I love Jess." Well, yeah, she's a bodybuilder. If I have to hear anymore about this Speedo scene. It was supposed to be for Joey Fatone damnit! You got the wrong bitch from N*SYNC!

on an original script by director Doug Liman, pic tells the story of two friends who build a rocket from spare parts and try to land on the moon.

Sounds like another geek role for Jake, but this time in a buddy movie.

Who will play his friend?

Doug Liman’s Moon Movie Gets New Writer

...
Up-and-coming scribe Dan Mazeau has been hired to redraft the action film about lunar colonization that is slated to star Jake Gyllenhaal. Doug Liman, who will direct the film, wrote an original screenplay with John Hamburg (”Along Came Polly”). “Black Hawk Down” author Mark Bowden revamped that script.

Now Mazeau is on board to try to bring it in for a landing with a different take “based on an original story by Liman, Bowden and Simon Kinberg,” according to the studio.

Doug Liman is not exactly an unknown name, so to have Dreamworks bring in a completely new writer to rewrite his script, they must have really hated Liman’s script. If that’s the case, how long before Liman jumps ship? I don’t see him staying on to direct a movie that has essentially been taken away from his creative control. Unless, of course, he plans on rewriting it anyway during production, which happens all the time.

This should tell you how lucky Jake is get the PoP contract. Nailed is a mess, Brothers will get limited release and the much touted Moon Movie project will be done .. well, when the moon turns to green cheese. Nothing is else is on the immediate horizon for Jake.

Given his limited prospects, 10 million dollars to beard probably sounds like a pretty good deal to JG right now.

Luck has nothing to do with it ;)

I'm afraid this one sounds too much like October Sky? Although I wasn't sure about how I felt about the moon colonizing original idea, too science fiction-y could be cheesy. This one could have a bit more realistic approach, if that's what they are going for? Dunno.

Someone is looking forward to the Moon Project - he even posted photoshoped picture of Jake The Astronaut :)

Jake Gyllenhaal heads to the moon!

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again (pounds fist on table) there’s just not enough sci-fi around these days.

Yeah, yeah, Jim Cameron’s got his uber space opera ‘Avatar’ shaping up and the vociferous re-make machine is busily chewing through a variety of planned and in-production gems of yester-year that should be left well alone (read ‘The Day The Earth Stood Still’) but how about something completely fresh.

For a while now, Jake Gyllenhall has been attached to an untitled project centred on a mission to the moon with Doug Liman (‘Jumper’) at the helm and it sounds like it might actually be finally taking off. Various scripts have been flying around and recent news suggests that scribe Dan Mazeau has got his teeth into it for a bit of a buff and polish.

Plot details are sketchy but it seems to involve a private expedition to the moon and a race to colonise it. To be honest, that’s enough for me. It’s an original script, there are some decent names involved and there’s plenty of room for a good story. We shall keep our bino’s trained on the big white round thing for further news on this when it breaks.

^^Well, I like that idea. Original and a good story. I like what Dan Mazeau said, something to the effect that he unabashedly loves popcorn movies, but they have to be really, really good and they have to move him. Me too! :)

Hm... Can't think of anyone I'd like to see as Jake's rocket science buddy.

One PDA Pooftah Blind Vice

No, not Toothy Tile. For a change. Ever since ol’ Tooth re-recommitted to Gray Goose and they got all hideously domesticated, our double-T seems to have lost his devotion to doing it in every open space he can manage. Like WeHo parking lots and the such. I mean, so many men just have sex the same way they pee, right? Let it fly (whatever the bodily liquid) wherever ya want! Morals be damned, a man’s gotta go—or go-go—when he’s gotta, right?

Right, squeals our latest boy wonder in the annals of Hollywood homosexual clandestine coupling. Dude’s name is Public Thrust. He’s a star of considerable rising proportions, is on some huge-ass projects. Huge. P.T.’s career is certainly humming along just fine, thanks much. And isn’t it fascinating, P.T.’s peeps, who supposedly have his best interests in mind, are doing their best to steer Mr. Thrust away from any gay projects that come dancing his way (‘cause, let’s face it, the guy looks as queer as my hair), all the while Public-babe is hitting some H-town parties that don’t exactly cater to the beer-and-football type o’ guys.

More specifically? Let’s just say that while Thrust’s managers and such are doing their best to keep their star out of anything remotely Brokeback Mountain-esque, P.T.’s performing, quite impressively, I must say, at some H'wood dos where doing each other is the point of the gathering. Orgies, gay ones—in case you’re having trouble reading my totally homo cryptospeak.

You know what this means, don’t you? It’s the same with Toothy. It’s the same with married men who cheat. It’s all about getting caught, in other words. Public, just like Tooth, wants to be found out. They desire to be out. But they just can’t seem to find the guts to do it. So they let their peckers do the walking, or talking, as it were.

Congrats on your Blind Vice badge of Honor, Public! Welcome to the chubby clubby!

^ TT and GG are domesticated?! I thought they had cooled things.

What, Austin is living in Reese's garden shed, where he and Jakey eat their morning granola together?

Or is that Chris we see peeking out from the blinds?

Isn't Jake supposed to be selling his house ("leaky-roof ") to buy one with a more concealed driveway so Austin can come and go in complete privacy?
