Bittersweet

Actor Cheyenne Jackson talks to The Advocate about being out in Hollywood, closeted actors, his childhood, coming out and everyday domestic dramas.

My favorite part:

"As a pleasant contrast to the e-mails he receives through his website from right-wing Christians warning him that he’ll “die a horrible death," Jackson’s inbox is regularly flooded with messages from small-town teenage boys whom he’s inspired to come out. "One of them asked me to send him a picture, and he said he held it as he told his family because it gave him strength. A couple weeks later when his friend was going to come out, he let the friend hold my picture. It’s kind of heavy, but at the same time if they feel support and strength just by the way I live my life, that’s great."

It’s a comfort Jackson didn’t have attending House of the Lord Christian Academy in his tiny, rural hometown of Newport-Oldtown on the Washington-Idaho border -- "very Little House on the Prairie," he says -- where the only gays were known as "the dump dykes," two mullet-sporting lesbians who ran the local garbage dump. "The school would quote Scripture -- ‘It is an abomination in the eyes of the Lord to lie down with another man’ -- and I was told that I would be going to hell, so from a very young age I knew that it was something that I would have to deal with later in life."

Though Jackson always had girlfriends, his heart belonged to Chuck, his best friend in high school. "I was in love with him," Jackson recalls. "I truly thought that we would be together. If he got a girlfriend, I’d purposely make sure that my girlfriend was best friends with his girlfriend so that we could always do shit together. He was a Mormon, and right before he left on his mission, I took him to lunch and said, ‘Chuck…’ And he said, ‘I know. I’ve always known.’ And I was like, ‘You have? Oh, my God!’ To this day, he’s still a friend, but now he’s married and has five kids."

Thank god for WFT and now WFT2. The other Jake sites are so syrupy that I can't even read them. Some people actually think that Jake and Russell will get along famously and that Jake will easily handle any of Russell's tantrums. Talk about being in lalaland.

I think Jake and Russell will get along just fine. Jake will do whatever Russell says! LOL
Jake easily handle Russell's tantrums? Now that's something I'd like to see!

I never saw "Spiderman" but I have seen "Cider House Rules," "Wonder Boys," "The Ice Storm" and some other films with Tobey and he is ALWAYS very, very good.

LOL! Go see The Good German. He's terrible.

Oh Jake I cry for you NOT.

Jake strikes me as a bit egoistical, I don't say he is a bad person, but he seems to always put his interests first. He's very ambitious. I do believe he was upset about Heath, but he certainly didn't let the situation with Heath interrupt his plans. I think Jake didn't release a statement or payed tribute, because he expected many other co-stars of Heath wouldn't do it either. He must have been surprised by the reaction of fans and co-stars. Now it's too late for anything from Jake, otherwise it would just seem disingenuine and he knows it. He'll probably talk about him in an interview for one of his upcoming movies.

Agree completely.

People Magazine Freelance Reporter Suing Paparazzi Who Taped Ledger

Two photographers that duped Heath Ledger into using drugs on film are being sued by a People Magazine freelance reporter.

According to the New York Daily News, an unnamed People Magazine freelance reporter is suing two photographers for making a video of Heath Ledger in her hotel room in January 2006.

Apparently, the two photographers, Eric Munn and Darren Banks, befriended the late actor while he was at the Chateau Marmont Hotel. They led him to believe they were guests at the hotel and had him return to “their” room with them.

While in the room, Munn and Banks brought out cocaine and Ledger did the same. Munn left the room to start filming the actor. Once Ledger realized they had lied and that Munn and Banks were actually paparazzi, he became angry. In response to his anger, they agreed to destroy the tape. It also turned out that the room they brought Ledger to was actually the room of the People Magazine freelance reporter.

The tape was not destroyed and was sold by the photographers’ agency, Splash, to Entertainment Tonight shortly after Ledger’s death. However, the serial show did not air the tape when an outpour of disapproval came from Hollywood.

The People Magazine freelance writer is suing the photographers for intrusion, fraud and privacy violations.

What a hypocrite bitch! I bet she’s doing this lest of being sued by Heath’s family.

Jackie thank you for keeping WFT2 running. This place is a gem in a fandom where nobody is allowed to say anything that doesn't fall under praise to Jake. It's refreshing to come here and not encounter mindless worshipping for a change.

LOL! Go see The Good German. He's terrible.

I've found a critic who liked Tobey in The Good German. Didn't see the movie and now I'm intrigued.

'The Good German'

"The last time Clooney played the mark, he was fat and bearded in "Syriana." Here all he needs is Maguire's Tully, whose easy malevolence pegs him instantly. Maguire is fabulous as the kind of kid who can rhapsodize about his mom's apple pie (pie you somehow doubt she even makes) and then offer you an hour with his "girlfriend" if you're interested. At first, the unexpected shock of language that would have never made it past Production Code censors and a sex scene that would have made their heads explode feels inexplicably elating. And its not just the naughty bits that make it seem so naughty. In a few quick strokes, Soderbergh and screenwriter Paul Attanasio (working from a novel by Joseph Kanon) sketch a convincing scenario in which it is technically not possible for the good guys to win a war because good guys don't fight them. Or they don't start them, anyway."

The actors look tired. As he has throughout the shoot, Mr. Russell is touching them — a lot, and sometimes in private places. At one point, Mr. Wahlberg grabs the director's megaphone, shouting: "This man just grabbed my genitals! It is my first man-on-man contact!" At other times, the director whispers into the actresses' ears — lewdly, they later say — before a take.

Nailed girls and boys, keep in mind that a swift kick to the groin is worth a thousand words! lol

6:12, enough with the exaggerations. You've been trolling OMG too. It's one thing to disagree/be dissappointed with something an actor has done and discuss it, it's quite another to get a perverse satisfaction out of putting down someone, which it appears you are skating towards. Chin up.

No need to be sarcastic! I'm willing to bet that most celebs, even the ones you like use drugs! ;)

I think it's a shame that some people feel the need, for their personal benefit, to drag a dead man through the mud. Let him rest in peace for God's sake!

Chelsea Gets Down With The Gays

Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton took some time off the campaign trail this weekend to hang with Oregonian homos. Clinton and about 2,000 of her closest queers donned their reddest, gayest apparel for the Red Dress party, a drag event that raises money to help fight HIV/AIDS.

Chelsea doesn’t appear to be wearing a dress - a party requirement - but she did spend a few hours getting to know the boys before bouncing off to Philadelphia.

Why did my post get your dander up I wonder? I haven't even mentioned OMG anywhere, I've just thanked Jackie because she continues what Dany started, a blog where bs doesn’t fly. Places that worship Jake are a dime a dozen on the internet. Blinders off to you ! ;)

UK - Rail company apologises for homophobic incident

The Customer Service Director of rail operator First Capital Connect has said she was "both appalled and embarrassed" by an incident at London St Pancras station when a gay couple were told to stop being affectionate. The incident occurred at around 6:30am on Sunday, March 30th.

A public announcement was made by a First Capital Connect staff member, directed at the gay couple, requesting "passengers please keep their hands to themselves and refrain from kissing." A heterosexual passenger, Jean Lechmand, was so shocked at what he had heard that he complained to the train operating company.

"The behaviour of the gay couple was not lewd or lascivious," he told PinkNews.co.uk. "In fact they were doing no more than any regular heterosexual couple does on a regular basis at train stations, on buses, in the streets and anywhere else loving couples happen to pass through.

"The announcement was not only out of line but hurtful and hateful. "It was blatant discrimination against members of the public based on sexual orientation. "Furthermore, it has the potential to cause a great deal of personal anguish."

Mr Lechmand, who did not know the couple, later reported the incident.

He pointed out that the centrepiece of the Ł800m refurbishment of St Pancras station, which is now the terminus for Eurostar trains, is a 9m high sculpture of a couple kissing - a straight couple.

Hollywood hunts star to play first man on the Moon

Producers search for a talent big enough to fill Neil Armstrong's boots in film of astronaut's life
...
Brad Pitt and Viggo Mortensen were among the names being put forward last night. Tom Hanks, star of Apollo 13, is a confirmed space enthusiast but at 51 may be thought to be too old.

Armstrong was 38 when he and Buzz Aldrin landed on the Moon. Matt Damon, star of the Bourne trilogy, will be 38 this year, while Eric Bana, whose credits include Hulk and the next Star Trek movie, is 39. Christian Bale, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jake Gyllenhaal could also be in the running.
...
Now the hunt is on to play the man who left his historic bootprint in the moondust. Barry Norman, the veteran film critic, predicted: 'He's a big American hero so it's got to be someone like Brad Pitt. Looking for the all-American boy with the square jaw, they should send the script to him, whether he'd be any good or not. Pitt would be the ideal choice. Johnny Depp is a better actor but I think he'd be less accepted by the US public than Pitt.'

Dan Jolin, features editor of Empire magazine, had a different suggestion. 'Viggo Mortensen has got that kind of rugged frontiersman feel to him and I can imagine him in the astronaut get-up on the Moon. He's already quite out there as an actor.'

I knew OMG was doomed when someone brought up (rightfully so) how he/she could never forgive Jake for the shopping/partying in Soho photo ops only a few weeks after Heath's death. They were ridiculous, replying with a concilliatory "It's not Jake's fault-it's Reese's fault--Jake has to do this..." yadda yadda.

Is Jake a mentally challenged child? No one is putting a gun to his head? WHy do the rules of decent behavior not apply to him? Oh, that's right. He's an immortal deity and we're not.

Oh and if you post anything about Heath in OMG, it either gets ignored or deleted.

Anonymous said...

I'm not defending anyone, but it is hard to accept and admit that someone you admire doesn't really deserve it.

Anonymous said...

Oh and if you post anything about Heath in OMG, it either gets ignored or deleted.

Yep, sadly it seems Dany was right in her final post. Whatever Jake does is the right thing to do, we must never question his conduct we must only follow.

There’s nobody to be blamed for Jake’s behavior but Jake. I bet he regrets nothing and doesn't even give Heath a second thought. If Jake doesn’t care then why are his fans making excuses for him?

True.

What excuse would be good enough? Well-concealed domestic life?

As for poor Jake, puleeze.

Anonymous said...

"Yes, I think Jake's public reaction (lack of reaction) would be the same."

Don't agree at all. I think his lack of reaction was everything to do with trying to distance himself from BBM and Heath as much as possible. I can't imagine him trying to distance himself from anyother of his former co stars/films like that.

Anonymous said...

11:26, then he's an idiot. Because I doubt very much he'll do another groundbreaking film, one that future generations will remember, like BBM; I also doubt that any of his on-screen pairings with have the impact that the one with Heath had.

But that's Jake, I guess. Mr. Mediocrity.
