Prince of Persia
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
Mike Newell:
'I’d known Jake for a long time because I’d known his parents and worked with his sister, but I’d never worked with him. His face is his fortune. He looks like he has one layer of skin fewer than anyone else; he’s tender and vulnerable in a way that a lot of people aren’t. But then he made himself into an action hero. I saw him do it, step by step. Of course the stunt man is there, because of insurance, but Jake did all his own riding, his own fighting, his own gymnastics. It’s something that you don’t see until you look at the whole movie and think: Christ, he actually did that. On the one hand he gave what I expected him to give, which is the sensitive actor stuff. But on the other, he really worked hard.'
Sir Ben Kingsley:
'Jake is a great leading man to work with - he's wonderful to work with because he makes himself vulnerable. For a strong young guy like that, not many of his American counterparts are vulnerable. They don't dare to be vulnerable because they think vulnerable is weak. It is not - to be vulnerable is to be very strong.'

«Oldest ‹Older 801 – 1000 of 2554 Newer› Newest»One of Jake's sexiest roles was Hal in Proof, in that love scene. I think that Gwyneth's character was the one who was holding back and uptight, part of her character's makeup.
If you watch it, give us feedback and if you still think Gemma and Jake had bad chemistry.
I will watch it, but Dastan and Tamina from PoP trailers made me cringe.
Actually, I liked Gwyneth in that scene too - she was wonderful as Catherine.
I prefer the scene with Aniston ;)
That one was great too. :)
I'd say all of his love scenes have been pretty realistic portrayals, and I'm a straight woman. :)
Then there was the ones in Rendition *swoon* and Zodiac where he was an adorable geek. All different aspects of different relationships, which were believable to me. Who you love in your personal life makes no difference, and it's not all that different anyway. It's certainly translatable. :)

Absolutely :)
LOL, our trolly couldn't wait to jump all over Ted in the comments:
Ted, you old, dried up meth queen, stop lying, you never saw Prince of Persia. I hear you are not allowed out of your cage, LOL!!! Don't blame Reese for this you silly, queen, Jake has wanted to do a film like this for ages, something your drug-addled brain wouldn't know. BTW, it doesn't suck and it is doing a lot better than thought, but you Bibby suck moose balls among other things.
Poor, silly trolly!
"By the way, Disney (which owns ABC and ESPN, who broadcast many of the NBA playoff games) pulled off one of the most shameless movie plugs in recent history, when ESPN's otherwise super professional sideline reporter Doris Burke was forced, "hopefully under duress," as my colleague Mark Heisler put it over the weekend, to interview Jake Gyllenhaal during Game 3 of the Celtics-Magic series. Since the willowy Gyllenhaal is clearly not a major basketball fan, it was pretty obvious that he got all the free airtime to plug Disney's "Prince of Persia," which he called "a huge, big, epic, action, comedic, romantic movie." That piece of puffery came right after Gyllenhaal admitted that he was, ahem, rooting for both the Celtics and the Lakers, something you could say only if you were a conniving politician or an actor desperate to get everyone out to see your film."
Why did Memorial Day turn into doomsday for the movie business?
No wonder straight males didn't flock to PoP.
Okay, I had to check in on the babblers, haven't done it in weeks. Only looked at posts since last Friday.
Only one picture up of Jake from the JJ bunch, and only two anons mentioned Austin by name, and of course linked it to Jake with Austin and his girlfriend Sophia. Everyone seemed to think Jake looked out of sorts in the pictures.
Looks like Jack/Jeff/Brothers Spy was trolling them about Reeke and POP and the bad b.o. but his posts were gone.
Babblers are not being realistic about the bad b. o. for POP--what a surprise. Only UV could get a thrill out of POP doing well in India.
something you could say only if you were a conniving politician or an actor desperate to get everyone out to see your film."
LOL.
The serious sports guys don't like those HW actor types doing promos in the middle of serious sporting events, lol:
Direct Link to Mark Heisler article
...
At ESPN the promotion never ceases, as when sideline reporter Doris Burke, hopefully under duress, interviewed actor Jake Gyllenhaal at Game 3 in Boston.
There had to be 1,000,000 Celtics fans more deserving of that courtside seat with Jake, who's not what you'd call a hard-core fan, noting that he roots for the Celtics and Lakers.
And if they met in the Finals?
"I'm just waiting for a Boston-L.A series to make my decision," he said.
Burke even had to ask about "deviating from your traditional roles" — whatever those were — in his new flick, "Prince of Persia," distributed, of course, by ESPN's corporate parent, Disney.
"Oh man, it's like a whole bunch of fun," gushed Jake, getting to the reason for the interview, "and a huge, big, epic, action, comedic, romantic movie."
On the other hand, according to The New York Times' Manohla Dargis, it's "at once generically insulting and relatively innocuous."
I'm not sure what that means, but it doesn't sound like a whole bunch of fun.
Of course, if you look at it that way, the conference finals were huge, big, epic, comedic and romantic, too.
And they were just the warmup.
IDK, I don't think just because someone's entire life doesn't revolve around sports is reason for straight guys to boycott PoP in droves. :(
They didn't boycott it, they just weren't interested, Jake's comments didn't help any.
Thanks, 2:17. It's been ages since I've peeked in at babblerfest - usually don't have the stomach for it, lol. So UV didn't post the Austin pics after all - just one with Jake alone? Very interesting :)
Only UV could get a thrill out of POP doing well in India.
LOL. UV also truly believes Jake walks on water so you do have to consider the source ;)
Austin needs to do something more than 'date' Sophia and be in crappy shows like OTH to be relevant.
Why did Memorial Day turn into doomsday for the movie business?
...
So what does this tell us? First, if you're looking for something to blame for the bad weekend, start with the movies themselves. They were stinkers, and everyone figured it out pretty darn quickly. But moviegoers also have figured out that ticket prices are higher than ever, and they're beginning to get a nasty case of sticker shock. They won't avoid the really good movies, such as Chris Nolan's upcoming "Inception." And they probably won't avoid a slam-dunk family favorite such as Pixar's upcoming "Toy Story 3."
Yep, the two movies I'm looking forward to this summer :) Too bad Jake didn't try for a part in "Inception" - and I'm not being sarcastic. No, he wouldn't have star billing over Leo, but I think it would've been better for his career than PoP.
Austin needs to do something more than 'date' Sophia and be in crappy shows like OTH to be relevant.
Is that a reference to the babblers' lack of interest? If so, if Jake had been out with a woman, any woman, they would have been all over it like flies all over sh*t.
I don't know why ESPN is coming in for so much criticism for cross-promotion. They all do it. I see it during football season, especially with the Sunday and Monday night games, especially right before the Christmas movie releases (NBC and yes, ESPN again) and Fox during the World Series is truly a media whore for their shows.
However, I wish Jake had given better answers. Trying to please everyone by not picking sides?? For someone who seems to like sports he sure has trouble talking about games and teams.
if Jake had been out with a woman, any woman, they would have been all over it like flies all over sh*t.
Well, they do have their wedding outfits still hanging in their closets, after all, gathering dust. And no doubt some have baby presents wrapped and ready, too :)
Is that a reference to the babblers' lack of interest?
No, it's an observation. Frankly, I couldn't care less about what the babblers do or think.
No wonder Jake wears hats from different teams all the time. He's so desperate for everyone to like him that he refuses to voice his real opinion. That's why he skirts anwering questions during interviews by attempting to be funny.
Austin needs to do something more than 'date' Sophia and be in crappy shows like OTH to be relevant.
I wouldn't even know what OTH was if I hadn't heard about it here. I guess it's a steady paycheck, but not much more than that. I imagine the competition for good parts for guys in his age range is fierce.
I saw Jack's comments on GB, he was gloating about the failiure of Pop, said Jake should stick to indies and his precious Reese must be laughing now that Pop and Ryan's movie bombed while she is filming Water for Elephants nad has been offered a role in the next Paul Andeson film.
He "embraced" Jake because of Reese, now that she "moved on" he can trash Jake like he trashed Ryan when they broke up (which he did)
Someone copied and pasted some of his postings on imdb where he trashed his precious Reese and called her Phoneyspoon among other things and pointed out that he forgot to delete his comments like he did on her other threads, LOL!
He then disappeared! He never was a Jake fan but will and always be a Reese stalker (online) fanboy.
I think he had lapse when they broke up and deep down thinks she is a Phoney.
Well, they do have their wedding outfits still hanging in their closets, after all, gathering dust. And no doubt some have baby presents wrapped and ready, too :)
LOL.
And LOL that someone is actually obsessed with the Chin.
Babblers are not being realistic about the bad b. o. for POP--what a surprise. Only UV could get a thrill out of POP doing well in India.
LOL! (Sorry Jake!)

Italian interview with Naomi Watts who talks a little about Heath
http://www.style.it/vanitypeople/spy/hollywood-e-dintorni/2010/05/12/naomi-watts-con-liev-e-stato-un-colpo-di-fulmine.aspx
Naomi Watts:
Anni fa è stata fidanzata con Heath Ledger. Eravate ancora in contatto quando lui è scomparso, a inizio 2008?
«Sì. Avevo da poco avuto Sasha, e lui era venuto a trovarci».
L'aveva visto depresso?
«No.
Davi, please can you translate? Thanks.
Naomi says she's in contact with Heath's family and Matilda. :)
That's nice.
Thanks DaviB! :)
Naomi says she's in contact with Heath's family and Matilda. :)
She said that she remained in contact with Heath's family after they broke up. It's nice that she also has contact with Matilda. She's such a nice lady. No wonder Heath loved her so much. :)
Naomi says she can't make any sense of Heath's death and that she still dreams about him. She obviously really loved him, too.
"Years ago I was engaged to Heath Ledger." Correct?
I wish Heath and Naomi never broke up. H & N
But they did and then he went to his rebound MW. Ugh.
Beautiful couple. :)
She said Heath was NOT depressed. She still dream of him, ans she is in touch with his family and his daughter.
Beautiful couple. :)
They really were. You know, I think neither of them really got over the other.
She said Heath was NOT depressed. She still dream of him, ans she is in touch with his family and his daughter.
I think he was actually glad the relationship with Williams was over. And i also think he tried to get his act together for the daughter, in order not to lose custody. I think the legal battle over Matilda was the only real issue in his life (he had a great career, a family that loved him, a new girlfriend...). Gemma Ward's sister and Heath family and friends claimed that Heath was enjoying his vacation and his time with them and that the only issue was the legal battel with Williams over Matilda. Then the awful accident happened...:(
Translation:
Years ago you were engaged to Heath Ledger. Were you still in contact with him when he died, at the beginning of 2008?
«Yes. I just had Sasha and he came to see us.»
Did he seem depressed to you?
«No. Heath was a very optimistic person. His death continues to be an incomprehensible tragedy. I still dream about him, I'm in contact with his family and his daughter.»
Do you believe that everyone has a destiny?
«Let's put it this way: Heath's life was too short but it was filled with beautiful things.»
Thanks 4:45 PM!
Years ago you were engaged to Heath Ledger. Were you still in contact with him when he died, at the beginning of 2008?
«Yes. I just had Sasha and he came to see us.»
Aww. Sigh.
Thanks 4:45 PM.
Heath go and see her after Sasha born. I think H and N really cared for each other. I'm happy Naomi can be in Matilda's life.
You know, I think neither of them really got over the other.
I think he was actually glad the relationship with Williams was over.
I agree.
I feel Heath did have a bit of a bad conscious about Naomi, cause they broke up because he supposedly wasn't ready for family life, then bam a few months later he impregnates another woman. I read Naomi was quite devastated about it. All througout she still stayed in contact with Heath's parents, I think they were and still are very fond of her. I think Heath again approached her when he and MW were at the end of their relationship. But during BBM promo at various events when they bumped into each other they were on friendly terms. She's a very respectable woman.
I agree, Naomi Watts is a classy lady through and through and a great actress.
Naomi says she can't make any sense of Heath's death and that she still dreams about him. She obviously really loved him, too.
This is the most beautiful thing I have read. She's a lovely, lovely woman.
I still dream about him"
That has to be kind of strange for Liev Schreiber. I remember an article a few moths ago about them having relationship problems because of their egos and Naomi's difficulty with getting over Heath's death.
5:19 PM - Liev and Naomi may have some problems, but their sons will keep them together for a while. I'm sure.
5:19, That's not a good reason to stay together in a relationship. Sorry.
"Naomi says she can't make any sense of Heath's death and that she still dreams about him. She obviously really loved him, too."
Wow. I can't make sense of his death either and I never knew him unlike Naomi. Very beautiful and heartfelt thing to say. Deeply honest. A class act (and BTW, she's amazing in the little seen Mother and Child).
I wonder how Jake feels now that PoP was received so poorly (undeservedly IMO) and if he regrets doing the movie? He did say he refused to take on roles that required a British accent. Doing a solid British accent in PoP, he shouldn't be fearful about it anymore.
At least something good about PoP :)
At least something good about PoP :)
True. In everything "bad" you can find somthing good.
I think PoP's poor box office and critics are a powerful kick to Jake's ego but his career will be fine.
I wonder how Jake feels now that PoP was received so poorly (undeservedly IMO) and if he regrets doing the movie?
I hope Jake keeps in mind that he needs some time and distance to see how bad or good was PoP for him and his career.
PoP won't hurt his career - but it won't help it either. But LAOD should give him a real boost if all the good buzz holds true, and I think it probably will.
Fran Drescher met her ex-husband, Peter Marc Jacobson, in high school, and they married in 1978, when she was just 21. They split after 21 years of marriage and remain close friends--and now both set each other up with men.
In Touch Weekly's press release follows:
Fran Drescher has never been shy about voicing her support for gay rights: In 2008, she and her former husband co-hosted a cocktail party in LA to benefit an organization that has sought to block California's ban on same-sex marriage. But it turns out that the cause was even closer to the Nanny star's heart than her fans could have guessed -- as In Touch can now exclusively reveal, Peter Marc Jacobson, the man to whom Fran, 52, was married for more than two decades, is gay. "Peter and I met when we were 15," Fran tells In Touch. "We were just kids and didn't know who we truly were. We went through a lot together."
The couple split for good in 1999, and according to an insider, Peter later came out of the closet to Fran. They continue to collaborate and are still "the best of friends. We love each other dearly," she says. "We have even fixed each other up! I more successfully than him, by the way." They're even working together on a new sitcom based on their relationship. "Peter and I feel so blessed to have met each other and to still have a caring, loving relationship," Fran says. "Love is what we're all about."

Hollywood (Finally) Gives Us Positive Persians
huffington post
Before the conquest of Islam in the 6th century, many Persians were fair skinned and had light eyes, and this is still true today.
Sorry Mojgan, I'm not buying that fiction.
Not to mention that there are only a handful of international stars who could carry a $150 million blockbuster.
Thanks!
This is a good thing. By portraying Iran's ancient world in romantic and mythological ways - similar to how Hollywood has historically treated Rome and Greece - it becomes one of the most important mainstream films yet for Iranian Americans.
There are no stereotypes, no falsifications, and no misconstrued messages. The film and the video game were inspired by two of the greatest works of Persian literature: the Shahnameh, or Book of Kings, a massive poetic composition written by the great poet, Ferdowsi (also considered Iran's national epic), and A Thousand and One Nights, a collection of stories incorporating ancient Persian folktales and legends.
Well I'm buying it, and I bought it. This is what I had hoped for PoP. More PoP please! :)
7:35 PM, are you serious, you would like Jake to do more PoP movies?
Yes. I'm very serious. If Jake doesn't decide to do it - I hope that someone will continue the tales.
...her shoes are reminiscent of the giveh- hand woven, embroidered slippers often worn during ancient times.
Gah, I fell in love with Princess Tamina's shoes also! :)
"Peter and I feel so blessed to have met each other and to still have a caring, loving relationship," Fran says. "Love is what we're all about."
Bless you, Fran. What a bittersweet, beautiful story. I hope their new sitcom makes it to the air and is a hit :)
Ha! I'm glad someone wrote that article in HuffPo to put to rest some of the ignorant comments from critics and others floating around the net about PoP. :)
Gah, I fell in love with Princess Tamina's shoes also!
We need more fans like you!
"Ha! I'm glad someone wrote that article in HuffPo to put to rest some of the ignorant comments from critics and others floating around the net about PoP. :) "
Just remember that Steve Gyllenhaal and Jamie Lee Curtis are regular contributors and Naomi contributes occasionally. So is the article totally unbiased?
They didn't ghostwrite it, I don't think. Jordan Mechner has said that those classic works had been an inspiration to him at least a year ago. There's a link to that somewhere, I think WDW had it when PoP was first being talked about. The article does try to clear up misconceptions, that's only fair.
Steven Gyllenhaal, Jamie Lee Curtis nor Naomi have no control over what the Huffington Post prints.
"Steven Gyllenhaal, Jamie Lee Curtis nor Naomi have no control over what the Huffington Post prints."
I'm sure they don't. But everybody knows everybody over there and most of them all vaction on Martha's Vineyard together for years. So if someone whom I had known for many years had a son who had a movie come up that sucked and was heavily critized, I would feel bad for my friend and fellow contributor and try to soften the blow or write something a little more positive.
The majority of critics who didn't give PoP good reviews weren't complaining about Jake playing a Persian, etc. Most of them simply thought it had a bad screenplay with corny dialogue, was formulaic, and was poorly directed and edited. And I highly doubt Jake was chosen for the role because they were trying to be historically accurate, lol.

The critics didn't grade RH that highly either, but lots of people liked it.
I'm sure they don't. But everybody knows everybody over there and most of them all vaction on Martha's Vineyard together for years.
Like who for instance?
The couple split for good in 1999, and according to an insider, Peter later came out of the closet to Fran.
Later? All those years together and he could't tell her about his gayness?

AM : You have premiered Prince of Persia around the world and everywhere you go people have one question for you.
JG : The question I always get is how I got into shape. That seems to be from photographs and the trailer which is all they have to go on at this point. It’s interesting to them, seeing me in a different light. But what I would want people to know about the movie -- it's really important to say -- is that I know guys are interested in the movie, but kids! I cannot wait. All over the world at premieres, wherever there was a child, to see their response after was… [huge smile].
I screened the movie for my cousins and family the other day. My cousins were jumping off the seats! They’re anywhere from 6 to 14, and they were terrifying their parents, but jumping off reasonable heights, jumping and fighting, and that’s what I felt like when I saw Indiana Jones when I was a kid. That’s what I want people to know, people ask me if they can take their kids and if it’s too dangerous? And I’m like: "this movie was made for kids, for family." I can tell everybody now, you can take your kids.
AskMen UK
Wow, does this mean people are busy or are people bored with Jake. One comment since last night.
Oh no, Sophia is #1, Jake #2!
What?! No one gets bored with me!
Or my abs!
AskMen UK: Hollywood’s “sensitive” boy actor Jake Gyllenhaal is all manly and epic for Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. In the film, he’s a buff man’s man who’s able to leap tall buildings with a single bound as a noble-hearted royal avenger...
Awwwww, they love him! :)
chris_zhou: Jake Gyllenhaal played Dastan wonderfully. the whole movie was wonderful... if not for the last minutes. argh that scene RUINED the movie.

rockyourkarma: I'm at Laurel Tavern and Jake Gyllenhall just came in!! Hehe.

Oh no, Sophia is #1, Jake #2!
I'm the sexiest beard in town!!
AskMen UK
AskMen.com : This character is out of character for you as an actor.
Jake Gyllenhaal : The character I have in the movie is more similar to me than any character I’ve ever played in a movie. Really, contrary to popular belief, I like to have a good time and not take myself too seriously. I really don’t like to look inwards because it’s boring. No, not really! I liken movies to playing a piano: Sometimes you’re playing the chords and different notes with unresolved cadences and playing all major chords that are all over the place and you’re enjoying yourself with a great, simple melody. You know I love that type of music just as much as the complicated introverted complicated stuff. This happens to be a whole lot of really fun major chords for kids and families and everyone. I should be singing my answer!
At least they are not mixed
I'm an Oscar winning movie star, you cheesy-soap-opera bitch!
The character I have in the movie is more similar to me than any character I’ve ever played in a movie.
Dastan had a good time and didn't take himself too seriously?
Awww, that was very sweet, 9:18. Thanks for posting! :)
*Damn!*
Dress Up Man of the Month: Jake Gyllenhaal
JG : My thoughts on my last name are that it’s already complicated for people and I don’t want to complicate it anymore. I will clear it up. The last name is pronounced Jill-en-hall. It’s spelled with two l’s, two a’s. We have a song in my family; G-Y-Double L - EN - HAAL spells Gyllenhaal. It’s a Swedish name. It’s a family heirloom set to music. I’m singing all over these interviews, aren’t I?
AM : How important are your newfound abs to you?
JG : I don’t know if I have enough time to go into specifically how much they mean to me. But they make me who I am. Without them, I don’t know. At awards shows, I will always thank them, that and the hair. I think I’m going to make my hair jealous in the movie, anything about my abs. If you don’t mind, I would like to include my hair in this comment and so I’d like to say my abs have been a little upset actually that they have been covered by suits and shirts for most of the publicity of this movie so without them, thank you for giving me the opportunity to talk about them. I don’t know where I would be without them.
I really don’t like to look inwards because it’s boring. No, not really!
More likely because he doesn't want to take a hard look at what he's doing.
That dress up doll is disconcerting, it has a body more like Austin's.

Undress Man of the Month would be much more interesting!

International Superstar (& Superhot) Athlete Supports Gay Rights
As soccer fans around the world get ready for the FIFA World Cup, which begins in South Africa on June 11th, the sports pages of newspapers worldwide are doing their usual job of ratcheting up expectation by profiling participating team rosters and team members.
Portugal's Púbilico is no different than other papers and yesterday they featured an interview with Portuguese-born Cristiano Ronaldo (pictured above), in which he made worldwide headlines by expressing discontent and frustration about his first six months as a player for Spain's Real Madrid. In the same interview, Ronaldo was also asked whether he followed developments in Portugal including the recent approval of a law that allows same-sex couples to get married. His response:
"The Portuguese man that I am, I try to keep informed about what is happening in my country. I know the law was passed and the comment it deserves is that we must respect the choices made by anyone, because, after all, all citizens should have the exact same rights and responsibilities."
This is a breath of fresh air coming from one of the top players in a sport not particularly known for its tolerance or respect towards gays.

Quieeet? That can be changed with Heath Trouble. Where are you my little friend, Ms Perfectly Possible?
You see, here's the kicker, me and Heath would have got on better than you and him
omg, too funny. OK, you’re welcome to him. (No thanks? Thought so, lol.)
tattoos I was referring to are years old... SILLY bloody WOMAN, he was scratting his upper arms and head area. Head, neck, and for fuck's sake he wasn't 'scratching his tattoos'.
No need to scream. You can see he was "scratting” his upper arm but can’t see the fresh tatt there. You’re no Sherlock Holmes, honey.
*During his I'm Not There interview junket on Saturday, November 10th, 2007, Heath Ledger sported a brand new dragonfly tattoo on his upper right arm (just below his Sun, Earth, Moon / 3 planets tattoo). The tattoo is fairly new, as you can tell by the way he's still rubbing it and by how the ink is still bleeding.
video: scratting his head, not his tattooooooo
I didn't actually say he was a hardcore anything…
It's perfectly possible he even died of hardcore drugs...
xD (“Perfectly possible” can be appended to anything, btw. Old smear tactic. It’s perfectly possible Obama is a Muslim born in Africa.)
I am not going to forget that what should have been a perfectly healthy and happy 30 year old rich and talented star died of the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine, no less than SIX drugs in one go
First part, true. Should have been happy, healthy. Wasn’t. But the drugs - Percocet (pain med), Codeine (pain), Valium (anti-anxiety), Restoril (anti-anxiety, sleep aid), Xanax (anti-anxiety), Unisom (over the counter antihistamine), were not taken “in one go" as you claim. It was over days in L/NYC. Traces of cold meds can stay in your system 48+hrs, benzos a week. (Heroin can stay in hair up to 90 days. Whaaaat-? Aha! – NY med examiner covered up that heroin hair.)
he died in some dive owned by one of the Olsens
3-bdrm loft renting @ $26,000/month.
this is an open forum, and I'm merely having a say
same.
You refuse to even acknowledge he might have had flaws
Keram knows, LOL, he had biggies. Say on. But cheating preg M/hardcore drug death would be so much juicier with a few facts. Why not try backing what you’re pushing?
Now, back to facts about Jake...I mean, Jake..lol..
Bono???
Always wondered about Adam Clayton, but Bono?
I get the feeling NE is trying to have its cake and eat it too--keep the Who is Gay feature, but use safe targets to look at.
The National Enquirer made my day with their “Who’s Gay & Who’s Not” roundup! They say that Lady Gaga and Crystal Bowersox are bisexual, Michael Emerson of “Lost” is straight, and Tyler Perry is maybe gay. Also, none of Cameron Diaz‘s friends would be surprised if she were gay. And stars like Bono, John Mayer, and Rosario Dawson are just happy to lock lips with members of the same sex.
Tabloid Cheat Sheet - The Frisky
What is it about Heath that makes people in some parts of Jake's fandom fight over him? Either love him or hate him, I just don't get why posters go on and on about him on a Jake site. There's some weird obsession with him, poor guy.
National Enquirer - 'Who’s gay and who's not' cover
Love how they cover their asses by mixing Bono in there. If only they'd used the shot of Liam Gallagher putting his tongue in Bono's mouth. "Yummy Bono, There's an oasis in my pants and you're totally invited."
What is it about Heath that makes people in some parts of Jake's fandom fight over him?
Some J&A lovers don't like Heath because they know Jake would have dumped Austin in a nanosecond if Heath was gay. Some JiS fans don't like Heath because Jake liked him "too much". Babblers hate Heath because Jake liked him "too much" and because in their sick minds Heath was Jake's competition.
The tattoo is fairly new, as you can tell by the way he's still rubbing it and by how the ink is still bleeding.
video: scratting his head, not his tattooooooo
Bad link!
"I just don't get why posters go on and on about him on a Jake site."
IA. I don't get why jake went on about him in that GQ article either. He should have said No commnet and put it to rest.

:(
He should have said No commnet and put it to rest.
Why? How would that be better than talking about BBMt and Heath?
1:03, I think you pretty much nailed it there. I'd also add that another reason babblers hate Heath is because in their delusional minds Jake is pure as the driven snow and was too "good" to be anywhere in Heath's vicinity. And, sadly, I'd change "in their sick minds Heath was Jake's competition" to "in their sick minds Heath is Jake's competition." Yes, they still feel threatened by someone who's been dead over two years :(
Jake over Heath, bitches.
Stranded With A Star - Heath Ledger vs Jake Gyllenhaal
Bad link!
I don't know what that link was but on this video Heath is rubbing a dragonfly tattoo.
heath ledger discusses the Joker
Why? How would that be better than talking about BBMt and Heath?
It just seems pointless to talk, what is there to say?
It is pointless to talk about dead people because we can't bring them back? What about 'people are not dead until every memory of them is dead'?
heath ledger discusses the Joker
Beautiful voice.
Yes, they still feel threatened by someone who's been dead over two years :(
I wonder if they wish Jake had never been in a movie with Heath. Wonder if Jake wishes it, too.
As sure as day follows night, someone likes to try to stir up trouble at OMG by ragging on delusional J&A believers, then they come over here and have conversations with themself in which they claim Jaustinites don't like Heath.
Jaustinites are the delusional ones, but the person who carries on about Heath as though he was still alive and a "threat" isn't. Riiiiiiight.
1:39 PM, I think YOU are the stirrer.
That video you linked is not the one I saw.
He wore a grey and white tee in the one I saw.
So, please go dig for it. It's out there.
What about 'people are not dead until every memory of them is dead'?
Fair enough. But why bother keeping the memory alive here? It's a Jake and Austin site, so...
How is implying Heath was a druggie, slut, loved no one, etc keeping his memory alive? That's what most Heath posts here are about. Way to prove with that comment that Jaustinites have nothing against Heath.
How would that be better than talking about BBMt and Heath?
Jake should have only talked about BBM. What he said about Heath made some fans only dislike Heath more.
Here's Jake texting Austipoo.
"Does Beatty need more tofutti?"
What he said about Heath made some fans only dislike Heath more.
Please explain.
But why bother keeping the memory alive here? It's a Jake and Austin site, so...
Because Jake's life is so much more than relationship with Austin Nichols.

Olivia Munn has come out fighting for same-sex marriage, and has criticized Barack Obama for not stepping in to what is essentially a human rights issue.
“It’s ridiculous and I’m really upset that Obama, as a black man, and all the things that African-Americans have gone through after being oppressed, has said ’you’re less than’ and cannot stand up and say marriage is a union between two individuals who love each other,” she told Fox News. “I just think everyone should be allowed the same rights – if they want to exercise them, they can and if they don’t, they don’t.”
The statements follow the news that even the African nation of Malawi has relaxed its rules against homosexuality by releasing a same-sex couple jailed for their union.
It's also about a lot more than his relationship with someone who has been dead for over two years.
Somebody here would love to freeze time, and have Jake and Heath tripping off into the sunset with each other, and then rainbows will sprout, Jake won't beard or make bad movies, Heath won't take drugs and they'll raise Matilda together.
Didn't happen when Heath was alive, and it sure isn't going to happen now.
Isn't the talk about Heath on WFT 2more about him and Naomi Watts and Michelle than Jake and Heath?
I see no problem with discussing Heath, since he's the other boy from BBM, which is one of the favourite films from many here on WFT 2 I suppose.
Jake and Heath's friendship was probably nothing spectacular. Got friends during BBM and promo work, Jake is a symbolic godfather to M. and they kept in touch after BBM. Probably mostly per phone and now it's the same with Michelle and Matilda. End of story.
Maybe Jake had to cross Munn off the audtion list because maybe she isn't one of those hypocrites who talks about gay rights and gay marriage, and then turns around and supports the hompobic HW bearding system.
I'm looking at you Sophia Bush.
Beautiful voice.
omg, yes. He's mesmerizing.
I see no problem with discussing Heath, since he's the other boy from BBM, which is one of the favourite films from many here on WFT 2 I suppose
That's the way I see it.
Somebody here would love to freeze time, and have Jake and Heath tripping off into the sunset with each other
Not everyone who likes talking about Heath sometimes feels that way.
End of story.
There is no end of the story. Jake, Michelle and Matilda are here and we don't know what tomorrow brings.
Not everyone who likes talking about Heath sometimes feels that way.
IA.
Jake won't beard or make bad movies,
I don't see PoP as a bad movie. Zodiac was amazing, didn't watch Brothers. Rendition was the only bad movie after BBM imo.
Somebody here would love to freeze time, and have Jake and Heath tripping off into the sunset with each other
Sure, why not?
What he said about Heath made some fans only dislike Heath more.
You mean it made Jake's fans dislike Heath more? Is that even possible? ;) See, Jake does Heath no favors by talking. He must really dislike the guy.
Jake, please stick to your abs and hair and never mention Heath again.
You mean it made Jake's fans dislike Heath more?
I don't give two shits if they dislike him. I'll talk about Jake AND Heath when I want to on here.
Now here's someone worth hating:
What Does Bill O'Reilly Think About The New Gay Friendly McDonald's Ad?
Here's a hint: He compares gays to Al-Qaeda.
Sorry, but LOL ONTD comment:
McDonalds wants you to stay in the closet and eat away your feelings obviously. It's all apart of their master plan.
Ryan Phillippe hearts the gays
It’s no secret that filmmaker Mark Christopher clashed with Miramax over the final editing of 54. At Outfest 2008 he held a secret screening of his director’s cut, which featured 45 minutes of unseen footage that explored your character’s bisexuality and included your kiss with costar Breckin Meyer. Do you wish the studio had honored Mark’s original vision?
I absolutely do. I understand the reasoning from a business standpoint, but artistically I’m against the changes that were made because I feel like there was a better movie there to begin with. We thought we were making something like Boogie Nights because it was about a time of complete sexual abandon, but the studio watered it down. They had Mike Myers from Austin Powers and Neve Campbell from Scream, so they felt they could make a mall movie out of material that was a lot more edgy and honest. I did hear about that secret screening. I don’t know how big of an appetite there is for it, but I would certainly support a DVD release of that version. Breckin and I were a bit sad that nobody got to see us kiss.
Those films in the ’90s certainly earned you a big gay following.
And thank God for that. I’m very aware and appreciative. Because I started my career playing a gay teenager on One Life to Live when I was very young, I’ve always had a heightened sensitivity to that response, and I’m definitely considerate of that audience.
...
One Life to Live recently aired daytime television’s first gay sex scene. How much same-sex affection could you show when you played gay teen Billy Douglas?
Me and the guy who played my boyfriend might’ve held hands once or twice, but that was it. The age of those characters had something to do it, but things also weren’t as liberal in 1992. Still, I felt lucky to play the first gay teenager on television—not just daytime but television, period. What was so amazing about that for me was the response I got through fan letters that my mother and I would read together. Kids who’d never seen themselves represented on TV or in movies would write to say what a huge support they found it to be. One kid said he’d considered suicide before seeing a character like him being accepted. I also heard from a father, a mechanic, who hadn’t spoken to his son since he came out. When our show came on in his shop, it gave him some insight and understanding as to who his son was, so it opened up communication between them. As much as you can write off how silly the entertainment industry can be, it can affect change and make people see things differently. That’s beautiful.
...
The MacGruber screenwriters are writers on SNL, which also has a tendency to rely on gay jokes—like when MacGruber’s son, played by host Shia LaBeouf, came out of the closet armed with a vibrator and anal lubricant. As a recent SNL host yourself, where do you draw the line when it comes to homophobic humor?
I have my own meter as to what is and isn’t offensive, but I might bounce something off of my gay friends to get another perspective. You’re right, SNL does do that, but it’s all in a decent spirit. I know a lot of those writers who are incredibly liberal and supportive of gay rights.
What else did you and your gay buddy do in Austin?
We ended up going to a gay bar there, but I don’t even think anyone noticed me. I was kind of shocked. Maybe my gay fans are just better behaved than my straight fans.
You weren’t worried about sparking gay rumors?
Who cares, man, in this day and age?
Can't help thinking there's a dig or two at Jake in there.
"Babblers are not being realistic about the bad b. o. for POP--what a surprise. Only UV could get a thrill out of POP doing well in India"
not so bad in the rest of the world.
"Not so bad" is not what Disney and Bruckheimer were hoping for. Naturally, they're going to spin this, but barely squeaking out a second place ahead of a pos like SATC2 that was trashed almost relentlessly by reviewers is nothing to brag about.

:')
I think Jake is very dissapointed re. PoP.
Very likely.
Blaming on jake if the movie isn't a huge hit is totally unfair, it's disney faut on many points: scenario, a director who can't direct action movie and above all a very "strange" no marketing at all but at the very end... jake did his best and is quite a leading man.
and how explain americans perfer to see brainless movie like SATC instead of brainless movie like POP, don't know! a least in POP something' happening, SATC is just a long pub for posh clothes.
well he had his paycheck and the positive side: he is more known than before.
Doesn't seem like that possible drug investigation is about to slow Lance Armstrong down.
Lance is set to race in the Tour de Switzerland next week. Howevs, we're still hearing that multiple agencies are seriously weighing investigations into claims made by Tour de France winner Floyd Landis that Armstrong, too, has been blood-doping, which the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times and Sports Illustrated are also reporting. No word yet on how or if that will affect Lance's upcoming ride, but more importantly, we're curious if you all even care about this stuff.
Poll: Lance Isn’t Hanging Up His Cycling Hat Without a Fight, but Do You Care?
But more importantly, we're curious why is Ted ignoring Austin, Sophia and Jake's gym activities?
no need to be disappointed for a such useless movie. I know jake did it for fun and certainly for money too ( not naive) but no worry about his career at all! he is talented enough to play in good movie and sometimes the hit isn't the one we expected to be. Some quality movie can be hit. ( fortunately)
"But more importantly, we're curious why is Ted ignoring Austin, Sophia and Jake's gym activities?"
He said nothing either about bike pics last year!
Ha! Ted, what's up?
Stranded With A Star - Heath Ledger vs Jake Gyllenhaal
"I wanted him (Jake) to look at me the way he was looking at Heath Ledger."
LOL! observant woman, does she post here? ;)
where did you find
that?
PoP must be a huge disappointment for Jake, fortunately for him he has LAOD and Source Code, both sound very interesting.
LOL! observant woman, does she post here? ;)
Observant? Please, even JiS believers noticed his admiration, man crush whatevs. Some young, straight TDK fanboys (on imdb) who watched plenty interviews with Heath (and Jake) also noticed it. LOL. It was too obvious. ;)
5:02 PM - find what?
5:04 PM#1, true, but I never heard anyone say it on TV before. ;)
when does he start joe namath biopic?
5:04 PM#1, true, but I never heard anyone say it on TV before. ;)
Yeah, that's true. :D
when does he start joe namath biopic?
Is this even confirmed as one of Jake's upcoming projects?
when does he start joe namath biopic?
No idea, is it a sure thing?
Joe Namath biopic is still in the development phase, I hope Damn Yankees will be ready soon.
he said he is committed in bio of namath
and how explain americans perfer to see brainless movie like SATC instead of brainless movie like POP, don't know! a least in POP something' happening, SATC is just a long pub for posh clothes
Well, actually they didn't prefer SATC2. If you read closely, you'll see that PoP beat SATC2 - barely, but it still beat it - at the box office for the weekend. But I guess it's just easier to make a knee-jerk generalization about Americans :)
http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2010/05/26/jake-gyllenhaal-still-committed-to-joe-namath-biopic/
Disney and Bruckheimer should get most of the blame, but fair or not, most articles are saying that Jake's lack of drawing power also hurt the film. And its probably true that with a bigger name the film might have done better. There seem to be tons of people who will go to a movie just because Will Smith is in it. There are not enough Jake fans who do the same.
It's a good thing he has the other two movies, because they will give Jake a chance to redeem himself in the eyes of the studios and producers.
And if Jake is seen as not being able to get enough boys and men into the theater for an action film like POP, that does not bode well for the Namath project--not that I think the world needs another by the numbers biopic.
^^^
"Yes, Joe Namath is something I've been involved in and developing and trying to make really, really right because you have to make it pretty badass if you're going to do it right," the actor said. "So we're trying to do that and it's taken a little while."
In November of '07, David Hollander ("The Cleaner") was tapped to pen the script. This past April, the Los Angeles Times reported that James Mangold ("Knight and Day") was being approached to take on directing duties. The Times story also stated that while Gyllenhaal had "come aboard" the project years ago, he had not been officially cast.
But the 29-year-old told us, "I'm committed," and admitted that the role would not require nearly the amount of hitting-the-gym work that his turn in "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" did.
"I don't know about that," he laughed about packing on the muscles to play the Jets signal caller. "I don't know what I have to get back into to play Joe Namath, but I'll do it."
"But I guess it's just easier to make a knee-jerk generalization about Americans "
elsewhere people love brainless movies too don't worry
just it's more in jake favor unlike US
But more importantly, we're curious why is Ted ignoring Austin, Sophia and Jake's gym activities?
There's nothing for him to say - he's already made his points with his many remarks about Sophia and Austin and their "convenient" relationship, with confirming that Austin has a BV and that Sophia is aware of it, and recently answering a question as to whether Jake and Austin were still friends and describing them as bffs and besties.
POP came in third on Tuesday and Wednesday, and its drop off is a lot steeper than SATC2. Not a good sign.
boxofficemojo.
"It's a good thing he has the other two movies, because they will give Jake a chance to redeem himself in the eyes of the studios and producers."
i won't complain if he isn't considered as an blockbuster actor, he deserves more than that
"And if Jake is seen as not being able to get enough boys and men into the theater for an action film like POP, that does not bode well for the Namath project--not that I think the world needs another by the numbers biopic."
who know, it's really different and if he plays him well he can create buzz,it's all about acting there.
POP came in third on Tuesday and Wednesday, and its drop off is a lot steeper than SATC2. Not a good sign.
boxofficemojo.
The movie seems to be doing well overseas. Domestically, well...it probably will be a major turkey. The reviews outside of the US are not as bad either. Rather mixed to positive actually.
If you check out rottentomatoes.uk, PoP has actually 60% in cream of the crop.
cream of the crop = top critics.
Metacritic
User rating is 8.1 for PoP.
There's nothing for him to say
I don't know about that, I think Ted could find 100 things to say about his most popular BV subject and OTH hot 'couple'.
Yahoo
PoP has an A- rating by users.
Only IMDB has a rather low rating, 6.9.
I actually think it would be a good challenge for Jake to play a real person, and I think he has the acting skill to handle it. It would also be interesting to see the make-up job they did on him - I know there are people who thought Namath had rugged good looks in his heyday, but they're going to have to ugly Jake up a bit to resemble him, lol.
I don't know about that, I think Ted could find 100 things to say about his most popular BV subject and OTH hot 'couple'.
But nothing different than what he's said recently.
SATC2 was number one this past weekend in the UK--that surprised me.
I don't know about that, I think Ted could find 100 things to say about his most popular BV subject and OTH hot 'couple'.
But nothing different than what he's said recently.
That is not the point - the point is that Jake, Austin and Sophia weren't interesting enough to get separate Awful Truth post.
Box office preview: Why 'Shrek' will topple all four new releases
The hand-wringing has begun. After both Sex and the City 2 and Prince of Persia garnered less-than-optimal results last weekend, chatter about why the summer box office is not performing up to par went in full effect. In the end, Sex and the City 2 — with $57 million in its coffers statewide — should end its run in the green, but I’m sure talks of making a third are not happening. And though people expected more from Prince of Persia, which Disney must have spent a mint marketing, it’s a movie based on a video game starring a guy best known for his indie work. The lesson learned here: Jake Gyllenhaal is not a movie star.
This weekend is not going to improve things much. Yes, there are four new releases hitting theaters tomorrow, but it’s unlikely any of them will cross the $20 million mark. In fact, Get Him to the Greek, Marmaduke, and Killers will all be vying for second place in the $15-$18 million range.
...
5. Prince of Persia: $14 million
Expect this to drop over 50 percent too this weekend. The word-of-mouth has not been kind, and with so much other fare in the marketplace to distract, Persia will be lucky if it crosses $100 million.
EW
The word-of-mouth has not been kind,
But that's not true, is it?
But yeah, Jake is not a b.o. draw. Zodiac was carried and mostly promoted by Jake and received awsome reviews, but it still flopped at the b.o.. Bruckheimer should have played it save and hire someone like Bloom.
But that's not true, is it?
Tweets about Jake in PoP are very positive.
Tweets about Jake in PoP are very positive.
Yes, they are mostly positive. The reporter needs to get some facts straight.
Man does Jake get much undeserved shit for PoP. I mean it's not a great movie, but it's a fun summer flick. Some reviewers were way too harsh about a movie like PoP. It is what it is.
"Bruckheimer should have played it save and hire someone like Bloom"
but bloom is nothing anymore!
it's me or EW don't like inde actors?
