This photo op during PoP opening weekend is proof Jake's PR and Disney are getting really, really desperate after the pathetic early numbers. Non-stop PoP promo wasn't enough, they want more publicity. Rethinking their strategy. Throwing the JiG crowd a bone in hopes they will be so over the moon to see Jake and Austin reunited, they'll forgive Jake and go see PoP while, of course, making sure Sophia is there for the JiS crowd. They want it both ways. So transparent.

Well, I'm certainly not "bitching" about the photo op. I think it's ridiculously contrived and phony - but contrived and phony is par for the course with Jake and photo ops. I actually think it's pretty funny. It's like they're playing a a chess game with the media. He purposely avoided being seen in public with Austin for a long time - and then, he's done with PoP promotion, the movie opens and Voila! Here they are. No, he's not coming out - that's why Sophia is in the pic. But I do think he wanted to be able to at least go somewhere in public with Austin because whatever the status of their relationship, friends or something more, he's no doubt tired of not even being able to be seen with Austin. It's a win for everyone. Sophia gives them cover. Plus, all of them get publicity. It's no accident that S&A have been doing the phony photo op dance lately or that she made that phony statement to the press.

He's a 29 year old male actor, he is still a kid in Hollywood. You all seem to forget Johnny Depp and RDJ didn't start out as mega box office stars. Its a hit or miss in HW, Jake is still young, his career is neither a flop or over. He's ambitious, all due respect to Heath Ledger, Batman was already a success, he didn't make the series and was not the reason for Dark Knights success. It already had a fanbase. Jake is still too young to be in such a hurry for a franchise. He has plenty of time fot that, his face will only get more handsome. If some of you are hoping POP will be a failure and therefore Jake will come out, don't hold your breath. POP still has a good chance to be a money maker outside the US. There is one positive for Jake, he is now international because of POP.

Look, I agree that PoP isn't going to make or break Jake's career. Movies are made, they're released, people talk about them for a while and unless it's an astounding success or an embarrassing failure (I don't see PoP being either one of those things), everyone moves on. That's what will happen here. He has two movies that look really good waiting to be released.

I don't understand what you're saying. What "reason" would Jake have for coming out? Actually, I think what Ted said here makes sense. There is no upside to coming out career-wise and that's obviously what he's focusing on right now. Plus, he keeps his real private life closely under wraps, so maybe he feels he has everything under control right now. Why stir things up. Coming out would create an unprecedented shitstorm of attention and scrutiny on his personal life.
Hmm, let's see. It's number one around the world this weekend and it's battling with satc for the number two spot domestically. It's likely to stay in the theatres fir awhile based on the weekend Bo numbers, and with accessories and delayed movie decisions ( ie. cash strapped people didn't want to see two movies in one weekend) Disney will definitely make some money on this movie.

I was at a party yesterday and the conversation turned to movies. I asked a couple of teen-age boys about PoP - they said they weren't interested in old video games. When I asked them if they were interested in seeing PoP, they said they'd heard of it, but instantly dismissed it because it was made by Disney. However, they did say they'd probably check out Toy Story 3 because they liked the first two. When I asked a couple of the teen-age girls if they were interested in seeing Jake in PoP, they said, "I thought he was the guy in "Robin Hood"?" lol But they generally don't go to "family" movies, so I don't think they're the group PoP was aiming for.

Exactly where did I say they were hanging out together because of the Armstrong biopic? I was talking about the numerous photo ops that suddenly dropped to zero when the project came to nothing. They didn't need publicity anymore or interest in the biopic so they stopped spending time together with the paps around. Jake said recently, I think it was in GQ, that during his physical preparation for PoP he would often go riding/train with Lance. So, you see, he can avoid having his pics taken when he wants to or when he has no need for them.

I think that Disney's furious spin on PoP is the surest sign that they were always nervous about the film, as well as Jake's ability to sell it largely on his own. Bruckheimer was non-committal on sequels, they almost completely muffled Jake for two years, made sure that the film opened on Europe first to get some momentum, schmoozed the fickle, semi-homophobic, video-gaming community for two years, kept Jake as far away from queers of all stripes for as long as humanly possible and held back the film a year to squeeze as much free, glowing press coverage of the PoP production as possible. Everything about this process suggests nervousness on Disney's part. Regardless of how much money they spent on PoP, and how much they spin the BO (which is, to be fair, relatively impressive given the stiff competition), I think that Disney is relieved that Pop did fairly well, all things considered.

The LA Times mentioned overseas sales for POP, and the press takes that into consideration. Given that many, if not most, movuies drop 40 to 60 in sales in the second week, it will take a miracle for pop to recover.
SATC2 made more money and performed better than PoP which was a flop (LA Times is correct) in its opening weeking. Two things to remember: SATC2 is R-rated so it wasn't expected to be number 1 (not according to box office mojo) during the very family-friendly Memorial Day weekend while PoP is not R-rated and was geared for young boys, gamers and families; plus, SATC2, though it underperformed in comparison to two years ago when the first movie came out, has a FAR less smaller budget than PoP. This means it won't take that much for SATC2 to recoup (meaning it'll be a hit whereas PoP it will take a lot for it to recoup. And certainly when Toy Story opens next weekend, that's going to divert A LOT of moviegoers away from Shrek, et. al.
It did better internationally but it still was pretty soft. It flopped big time in the U.S. so I'm sure Disney is disappointed. But make no mistake about it--SATC2 might not have done as well as it did two years ago but in comparison to PoP, which had a larger budget and more of a wider range of family friendly audiences, it outperformed the Disney flick.

It's "Basix Cafe" and, yeah, it's obvious to me that that was a true sighting because Ted first wrote about it as a non-blind about Jake and Austin at Basix and a few days later posted the first Toothy BV at an unnamed restaurant in WeHo with "marble" tables (which Basix has). I don't remember Ted mentioning Jake and Austin in a non-BI via Basix. I do remember him reporting about Jake sitting with some guy and them getting all mity -eyed talking about their childhoods. The TT BI came after
Yes, sorry, he mentioned Jake by name but not Austin, and as I said the BI came a few days later - but he specifically mentioned the "marble" tables in the BI and said it was a hint (Basix) and it's clear he was talking about Jake. I don't think "Grey Goose" had a name yet.
Guy-pal doesn't = Austin. One can speculate the identity, but Ted never said Austin and Jakey-poo.
So it's a non-BI but the ID of the guy-pal was unknown
If Heath was into homosex, then we can take it as a given he and Jake messed around.
