“Prison Break” Star Wentworth Miller In 2007: “I’m Not Gay”
Actor Wentworth Miller made headlines yesterday for coming out in a letter rejecting an invitation to the St. Petersburg Film Festival. “As a gay man, I must decline,” wrote the Prison Break star, who has been linked to Brothers & Sisters star Luke McFarlane in the past. “I cannot in good conscience participate in a celebratory occasion hosted by a country where people like myself are being systematically denied their basic right to live and love openly.”
But six years ago, when his hit series, Prison Break, was on the air, Miller had a different story to tell: “I’m not gay, but that rumor can’t be killed,” he told the Australian Associated Press “I know these rumors are out there … I’m cool with the fact that they exist, I mean this is about fantasy. Certain people are going to have certain fantasies, if someone wants to imagine me with a woman, or a man or one of each that’s cool with me as long as you keep watching the show.”
That same year, Miller told Metro UK he longed to find a woman to make an honest man out of him: “I don’t get a lot of chance to date. But it’s definitely something—a wife and kids—that I’m looking forward to experiencing at some point in the very near future.”
Whether Miller faced pressure from the studio to keep his sexuality under wraps, or the social climate is just more welcome now—or at 41, and focusing on screenwriting, he’s not so hung up on being a matinee idol—he’s not saying.

This is a lot of re-tread and not much we haven't already heard on DL, but I spoke with my insider source this weekend for gossip (this person is 100% reliable and I've know him for over twenty years) and I can unequivocally confirm a couple things:
- George Clooney has an apartment in NYC that he uses exclusively used for entertaining male escorts. When the hustler arrives, Clooney never acknowledges that he is actually Clooney and most of the times says something like, "Oh, I get all the time." However, both parties are well aware and it's just not spoken out loud. The escorts/hustlers are required to sign a full NDA. Fuck, get paid, then they're whisked away in a black car.
- James Van Der Beek never had an affair with John Wesley Shipp the guy who played his dad, but the latter is definitely gay (and poz). Van Der Beek is straight.
- Bradley Cooper = totally and completely gay.

I recall watching the Zachary Quinto It Gets Better video, before he officially came out and he seemed upset and conflicted about being closeted.
Wentworth Miller said he was so wrought about it, he walked away from acting.
Yet there are guys like Jake G, again assuming he is gay, seems to have zero conflict or qualms about it. He actually seems smug and arrogant in his hetero PR showmances. Whenever I see pictures of him he seems happy, laughing and almost smug. What does it say about him and actors who behave like him?

Southpaw TRAILER 2 (2015) - Jake Gyllenhaal Boxing Drama HD
The exclusive new poster for Southpaw, Antoine Fuqua’s boxing movie starring Jake Gyllenhaal, features the gleaming star in a tender embrace with Rachel McAdams, who plays his wife. But everyone who saw the film’s first trailer already knows that their romance will be rudely interrupted, and some people worried that the first clip gave too much of the story away.
“I was worried, and I spoke my mind about that,” says Fuqua (Training Day). “But the Weinstein people are great at [marketing], so I just put my trust in that. The audience sometimes, I guess, needs a little bit more context, especially this type of movie where it’s more of an emotional ride than people think—because it’s really a father/daughter story. So I had to roll with that. But, yeah, I was concerned about it, for sure. I still am.”
The film received a private screening at Cannes where Harvey Weinstein proclaimed that Gyllenhaal’s performance would get the Oscar nomination he so deserved for Nightcrawler. But Gyllenhaal wasn’t Fuqua’s first choice; Eminem was long attached to Kurt Sutter’s script before he decided that his music schedule prohibited him from making the movie at this time. Gyllenhall was the first actor the director then thought of who could deliver the chops, the drive, and the athletic ability of a boxer. But that’s a tall order for any actor, and though Fuqua never had any real doubts, others did.
“I sent him to the gym to audition for my trainer, Terry Claybon, and first day, Terry calls me and says, ‘Man, I think you picked the wrong dude,’” says Fuqua. “I said, ‘No, give him some more time.’ So he started working with him, and a few weeks later, he called me up again and said, ‘Oh, yeah.’ [Jake] started sparring with a few professional fighters we had in the gym with us, and he took some shots. I wanted to see what he would do. And he was in there. That’s when I knew he was going to do it.”
The boxing role required a high-degree of skill and athletic ability because Fuqua didn’t plan on building a champion fighter in post-production. “I’ve never seen a boxing movie shot the way I shot this one,” he says. “This one, you’re watching people getting punched in the face. The camera’s not cutting all the time. You’re watching people getting punched, and blood come out of their mouth. That’s part of what I was training Jake to do, which is, ‘We’re going to watch you fight.’”
Fuqua says he shot all the boxing first, to add to the realism of the film. “I said, ‘Whatever you look like after we get done fighting, is what you look like in this movie,” he explained. “ ‘If you got a black eye, you got a black eye.’ And that’s what we did. That’s why I love Jake. He gave me his heart. He trusted me, and I trusted him.”
Southpaw opens in theaters on July 24.

So, earlier this week, Ted Casablanca signed off from E! after 20 years there. That is a really long time to be writing a gossip column. Many of you have asked if I know anything. I will get to that in a minute. I think Ted deserves a lot of credit for the blind item. He made it popular. He made every column his own with that crazy language of his that only a Variety subscriber can truly appreciate. Over the past three weeks he has not really been there and after that long away, the move was not unexpected. Is he sick? Getting a new job? Fired for doing something wrong? Maybe he bad mouthed a Kardashian instead of kissing their rings. The rumor is that Ted was suspended while the bosses decided what to do. It didn't turn out well, and I don't think ted did anything on purpose. He could have caused a lot of damage to a lot of people. I think the bosses at E! should remember that and have given him a second chance. I think they chose what he did as an excuse to get rid of him and his salary and find someone they like more.

The "Renner blind" was a random blind about some gay guy, but in the middle he used the name Jeremy instead of the nickname he used. Everybody assumed it was Jeremy Renner. It's on here somewhere.
