Michelle Williams said her first meeting with Heath Ledger was "cosmic."
The actress, who won the Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical for "My Week With Marilyn," opened up to GQ magazine for their February issue, which hits newsstands on January 24, about the late actor and how she dealt with his death.
"Our initial meeting, the circumstances of how we first met, were cosmic or something," Williams said.
Williams and Ledger starred together in the 2005 movie "Brokeback Mountain", which earned Williams an Oscar nomination. They have a 6-year-old daughter named Matilda.
Of their relationship, which started while they filmed "Brokeback Mountain," Williams said, "Yeah, a lot of things happened at once."
"It's a bit like: We had a lot of things to do, because we didn't have a lot of time, or something," she added.
When asked if she ever thought she and Ledger would up together, Williams replied that he scenario was "one of my favorite things to imagine."
She then added after tearing up, "It's actually one of my favorite places to visit."
The actress also said she was hounded by the press after Ledger died. "It was making me crazy. I felt like I was going crazy. It was too much -- trying to deal with what had happened and trying to deal with what was at our doorstep," she said. "I just felt trapped. And it's not just me -- there's somebody else who I'm trying to protect, and I can't. I can't make it stop, I can't make it go away."
She then told the reporter she tried to force herself to move on with someone else and began dating to try to start a new life.
"Because I really wanted, and I really expected or imagined, that Matilda would have siblings that were close to her age. I wanted that for her," she said. "But I couldn't make that happen. And now that she's 6 that isn't even a possibility anymore. So something that was making me feel impatient, that's been removed. For whatever reason, that's not our luck, or our path."
Back in September, Williams told Vogue magazine for their October issue that Ledger's death "changed how I see the world and how I interact on a daily basis. It's changed the parent I am. It's changed the friend I am."
After shooting "Shutter Island," the actress took a hiatus from acting to get over the loss of Ledger and came back with "Blue Valentine." Her role in the film earned her a second Oscar nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role.

I don't KNOW that anything will be different, but circumstances surrounding Jake are different. He's not promoting a big "blockbuster," he doesn't appear to be going after big blockbusters, he's changed management, his career focus seems to have shifted back to smaller movies. He's also not like Clooney, who makes his opportunities. Clooney writes, directs and produces. He's a third rate actor, but the man works hard. Franco is the same. Jake could act Clooney, Damon and (on a good day) Franco, under the table, but he's lazy. He doesn't produce, direct or, from what I've seen, write any scripts. In today's Hollywood, you have to cover all of your bases, and Jake doesn't have a lot of pluck.
