August 4, 2010 - Proposition 8 ruled unconstitutional‎

From the ruling: "Proposition 8 fails to advance any rational basis in singling out gay men and lesbians for denial of a marriage license. Indeed the evidence shows Proposition 8 does nothing more than enshrine in the California constitution the notion that opposite sex couples are superior to same sex couples."

I don't think so. ;)
But Ryan's not into guys. :(

Everyone is into me!

Is there indication - pictures, sightings, Twitter - that Gosling and Willaims are more than colleagues or is it just the ususal gossip rumour and wishful thinking?

Because I have not seen anything that places them (yes some official PR) together during the last months.

Nice picture of Ryan G. I think he's beautiful in his own way, like Jake, Heath, JGL, Tom Hardy, Senor Bale, etc. They all have something uniquely beautiful about them. That video of clip Tom was great. TY :)

And Leo, Lukas, etc. etc. The most important thing is their talent as great actors.

Bitch Back

Dear Ted:
Question, if one of your B.V. stars did something huge—say for example, a gay B.V. star married his beard—would you immediately write about that under their guises or wait a little while? Or would you just not write about it at all because it would give too much away?
—JTP

Dear Tie the Knot:
If I wrote about it immediately, don't you think it'd be a bit obvious? But if a bearding turns into a not-so-holy matrimony then of course I'm going to dish the deets. Just look at Hardland Fuss.

Dear Ted:
Do you think Danneel Harris is pregnant?
—X

Dear Baby Ackles:
No. And I don't think she wants to be anytime soon either.

Dear Ted:
Matthew Bomer has been around for a few years in Chuck and Traveler, but I am absolutely in love with him on White Collar. I am a straight (bi-curious) guy, but I can't help looking at him and drool a little. Any juicy gossip on him?
—Bastiaan

Dear Poofing for Bomer:
No goss that hasn't already been circulating forever. Way sexy though, not a bad choice to get you all bi-curiously hot and bothered for. I'm sure you're not the first guy who's gotten a bomer over him. I mean, well, you know what I mean.

Dear Ted:
I've been wondering, what have Jackie Bouffant and his beard been up to lately? Is she ready to set him free and find a real man?
—Bonnie

Dear Bouff-Be-Gone:
Please, Miss Bouffant will definitely not be the one to end this relaysh. Not in a million, billion years, Bonn. Half the reason this babe is even snapped in pap pictures is because of her arm candy BF.

Agreed - and I like that most of them are also creative in other ways than just making films.

Heath started directing, JGL has already directed some little films, music (Gosling and JGL), stage work (Tom Hardy) and JGL has a collaborative art and media production company.

They are kind of a new generation of young actors.

Yeah, I loved Heath's involvement with the Masses:

Heath Ledger's Final Days Among the Masses

^^^

Birthed in a big loft in midtown Manhattan by one Los Angeleno, Amato, and one New Yorker, Jon Ramos, in 2002, the collective was transformed in the fall of 2006, when the members set up shop in Hollywood, and Amato’s longtime friend, Heath Ledger, started channeling some of his creative energy, and eventually, money, into the company. It was at the Masses that Ledger and his peers converged around a notion; taught each other how to shoot, light and edit; plotted out music and record labels; and sought to develop a little engine of creativity.

Anonymous said...

^^^

When I relocated to Los Angeles last year, I moved into Amato’s apartment, a vast and elegant second-story space in a white Spanish-style Hancock Park duplex, which he was sharing with his then-boyfriend, artist Andrew Campbell. The two had shared the place for years with actress Lisa Zane. She brought her brother Billy Zane into Amato’s orbit. And, after meeting a 17-year-old Heath Ledger on the set of the short-lived, Shaun Cassidy–created fantasy series called Roar, she lured the up-and-coming Australian actor to Hollywood and said he could live at the apartment on South Orange Drive with her, Campbell and Amato. It was the beginning, as they say, of several beautiful friendships.

Anonymous said...

^^^

Ledger got the part, the leading role in 10 Things I Hate About You, and quickly signed with CAA’s Steve Alexander and bought a new car (only to crash it soon thereafter).

“And then,” Amato laughs, “he came back and sat on the couch for two more years. He didn’t want to do any of the TV shows. They wanted him for Smallville. That’s when I was working on TheX Files, and he would come visit me in between his auditions. He was just about to leave town, when the idea to play Mel Gibson’s son in The Patriot came up. He got the part, and then the drums started rolling. The Vanity Fair cover, the billboards. That was a strange time. His image was plastered all over Hollywood. And there he was on our couch.”

Anonymous said...

^^^

As they hang little graphic illustrations of monsters by Masses designer and illustrator Daniel Auber, the knowledge of Auber’s work with director Terry Gilliam, and how he met Ledger on the set of the 2005 film The Brothers Grimm, paint the joyful little mutants with extra weight.

“In the Masses, he wasn’t the boss,” Auber tells me later, back in L.A. “Like in the Renaissance, you have the people called mecenate. I think the translation is ‘patron [of the arts].’ It felt like that but in a really natural way. It was completely spontaneous — and so much fun. The Masses was a shelter from the bad side of Hollywood.”

Anonymous said...

^^^

Heath Ledger almost always moved through L.A. on a yellow Ducati, his head encased in a full-face helmet as he zipped between his home in the hills and his Hancock Park workspace with perfect anonymity. He could put on his mask, hop onto his motorcycle, zoom down Laurel Canyon Boulevard, then leave the bike in front of the Masses’ office and sneak inside without a single person catching a glimpse of his face.

Although he was living in Manhattan to be closer to his daughter, Matilda, he returned to L.A. once or twice monthly, and when he did, he was usually working at the Masses’ office. You’d know he was inside if the motorcycle was parked out front.

Anonymous said...

^^^

Ledger and Amato had begun editing Amato’s script for The Makings of You, a love story based in Brooklyn, which they believed would be Amato’s feature directorial debut. Ledger was also making plans to direct an adaptation of Walter Tevis’ coming-of-age chess novel, The Queen’s Gambit — a project he chose with daughter Matilda in mind. “It was all about Matilda and her future,” Amato says, “making smart things for intelligent young women.”

Amato adds, “I definitely think the Masses was probably the most positive, safest place in his life at the time.”

Anonymous said...

^^^

“I’m really annoyed at what I’ve seen in papers — that the darkness of the Joker character took over his personality. That is so ridiculously wrong,” says Auber, who was in London during The Dark Knight shoot, working with Ledger on the Modest Mouse video. “He was having a lot of fun. He was really enjoying it. He wasn’t dark at all. It was actually a real happy moment when I was in London [with him]. Matilda was there, Michelle was there. They were a happy family. He had a lot of free time for London and his friends — he would only shoot a few days a week. He really was not depressed by the character at all.”

He's traveling all summer back and forth. Well, he has the money and can afford it. Lucky him in this regard.

^^^ He's traveling all summer? What, with NO Austin. Why haven't we seen Austin in MV or he and Jake somewhere together this summer. If he can be seen with other stars like Mathew Mc., he can be seen with Austin. I want to see Jake and Austin together NOW! They are together aren't they?

That was a very touching article. I think the members of the Masses had genuine love and respect for Heath.

Of course, the will never say that something wrong was going on with him. They pretend everything was great and normal, as if there were indeed problems, people would believe it was a fail on Heath's part.

But I understand they don't want to talk about the bad things, they were his friends, after all. It's just that it only makes it too obvious that their thoughts and memories of him are incomplete and biased.

It's nice that Heath was loved by his friend and colleagues, but maybe it would be better if they keep remembering him in private.

I'm not surprised about LAoD. Remember the test screenings for Brothers--how people were having religious raptures over it because it was so good? Even Jeffrey Well's friend who saw LAoD at a test screening and raved about how good Anne was said the movie wasn't good--and that she was basically acting in a different from the others.

So my guess is that if ANYBODY gets an Oscar nod for the film it might be Anne. HOWEVER, because this year is unusually competitive for women, it might be way too tight for her to get a slot. Right now, Bening and Portman are locks. Also that gal from Winter's Bone, Mulligan from Never Let Me Go, Lesley Manville from Another Year, Robin Wright from The Conspirator (Redford film about only woman to be convicted for the assassination of Lincoln), Nicole Kidman for Rabbit Hole (I heard buzz this is her best role yet--and I know this script--I saw it on Broadway with Cynthia Nixon) and Helen Mirren of The Tempest.

I think Anne and Jake will get Golden Globe nods for their work but no way is Jake getting an Oscar nod over Colin Firth, James Franco, Ryan Gosling, Robert Duvall, Michael Douglas, etc.

Anonymous said...

BTW, The King's Speech which got a standing ovation in Venice, Telluride, etc (and will play in Toronto) is the first frontruner for the Oscars in the categories of Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (Firth--LOVE him), Best Supporting Actress (Helena Bonham Carter) and Best Supporting Actor (Geoffrey Rush) and it's opening Thanksgiving--like LAoD.

It's a real crowd pleaser and it has a very inspiring, happy ending (and it's based on real-life historical characters).

Damn.

Jake needs a good script asap. Let's now hope that Source Code will deliver.

I'm a fan, but I'm slowly losing hope re. Jake's movies.
Or he can try to give his all as actor (if he didn't already) and deliver a mind-blowing performance in one of his upcoming films. That'd be something. I think he has potential for that, right?

Anonymous said...

I genuinely liked a few of Jake's movies, like October Sky, The Good Girl, BBM, Zodiac and he gave very good performances in DD (the role fit him) and BBM. But he never knocked me out of my socks. I'm still waiting for that performance of his that'll blow my mind.

Anonymous said...

Most of us want Jake to get some attention for his acting in a great film. But from what's been written so far, it's just an okay movie. And that' ok. His career is not over. He's still young and will happen on a good script with a good director. It will probably be a film we least expect. Look at Leonardo. He's a great actor and has been past up many times. And some male and female stars act their asses off and are never acknowledged. Jake still has a chance.

Anonymous said...

^^^ Leo: nominated, but has not won any award

Anonymous said...

If the award season buzz is not good on the movie, then what will really matter is how many tickets it sells. Romcoms rarely get good reviews, so it comes down to whether the actors can draw them in.

Anonymous said...

Yes, let's hope that the ticket sales will be satisfying.

Anonymous said...

Anne Hathaway is liked by males and females. I think she can become a romcom draw like Julia Robers in her hey day.

Sucks for Anne. A good performance in a good movie is recognized, a good performance in a mediocre or bad movie is overlooked most of the time.

"The most valiant thing you can do as an artist is inspire someone else to be creative" - J. Gordon-Levitt

I love this guy. And I love that he's worked with just about everyone - Helen Mirren, Lee Daniels, etc. etc. He's a great actor. I haven't seen Mysterious Skin in its entirety yet, but the clips I have seen on YouTube are so emotionally raw and honest, I'm really shaken to the core. I don't know if it's JGL, Gregg Araki, or the adapation of the script, the book, or all of that, but it is just an amazing performance, by everyone else too. I bet JGL could have given even Heath a run for his money as far as talent goes. I'm amazed.

Jake just blew me away as Jack in BBM, and also in Moonlight Mile, and October Sky. So he has it too - it's just a matter of the right film. :)

"I was at one of the test screenings and I actually had very little interest in seeing this if I had to pay for it. But let me tell you… the trailer doesn’t even begin to hint at how moving this film is. You’ve never seen Anne Hathaway like you will in this film. She’s been great before but never this brilliant."

I don't think he had a problem with the gay gossip per se, it was the sense of entitlement these paps have. Paparazzi is Italian for mosquito, or pest, I believe, and it isn't just JGL who has a problem with being pestered by them. They admit as much that they didn't have "altruistic" motives in pursuing him, but wanting to line their own pocket with a good story. Just because one may have been a gay paparazzi doesn't make him a nice person or give him any extra credence. Being an asshole is the great equalizer in this world. :)

You must be joking - Joe appeared as Eric’s gay buddy on a 1998 episode of That ’70s Show. He and Topher Grace shared the first gay kiss on North American prime-time TV. That caused a riot at that time and was a big deal.

I think it was a great reaction.

Of course, wonderful reaction! What a man! Everyone should do that and show us how hard it is to be a celebrity!

Well, I think he said that he usually does understand their position and accepts it as part of the territory, which is why I think maybe these guys went a little too far. C'mon, they aren't without their faults, and at least have written a chapter or two in the book of arrogant approaches. Gay gossip isn't so terrible, nowadays it's chic and even courted, but you have to admit the approach these people take is sometimes too aggressive.

What a small minded bitch!

I've seen his video, paparazzi were OK, JGL is an asshole.

Anonymous said...

He does not care much about the public image.

Of course he doesn't. That's why he said Topher Grace is the worst kisser because, you know, he's a guy and OMG, kissing girls is so awesome (what 30 year old guy talks like that?)

Anonymous said...

Maybe Topher Graces isn't a good kisser?

Anonymous said...

(what 30 year old guy talks like that?)

An idiot.

Anonymous said...

"I don't expect JGL to like paparazzi, I expect him not to be an arrogant asshole just because he can afford it, and to learn that gay gossip isn't so terrible."

Sorry, but you seem to forget the reactions here when Jake was spitting on that paparazzi.....

Joes reaction had nothing to do with "gay gossip".

"Jake does PoP and he is criticized and called a sellout"

I never called him a sellout, I had hoped PoP would be successful - unlike many people here, you seem to forget very fast.

Joe had only a small role in GI Joe and the film was - I don´t understand why - seen as a BO success. Jake played the main role and PoP is seen as a flop.

Anonymous said...

Many other actors haven't done as much for gay rights, and in fact have done more to hinder them. We don't want to name names now, do we?

Anonymous said...

I hate to say it, but Inception has run circles around PoP at the box office, I'm sorry to say. But I'm glad for Inception.

I saw a preview screening and I don’t think Anne’s performance is oscar-worthy. She started to grate on me after a while but that might be because I’m not generally her biggest fan anyway. Jake’s comedic skills are impressive and he really suits this role. The film is predicable and some of the script is cringeworthy but on the whole it’s not bad. I hope the film does well but I don’t think it’s an award winner.

Poor Topher, you mean he had to kiss this mouth twice?

JGL

Ooops, I got it wrong, it was just one kiss.

"Jake’s comedic skills are impressive and he really suits this role"

If the film is successfull I could see perhaps a Golden Globe nomination for best Actor/comedy.

the trailer doesn’t even begin to hint at how moving this film is

Must be talking about the first trailer. I thought the second trailer did more than "hint" at moving.

Anonymous said...

The film is rated R and I think many guys want to watch it because they want to get a glimbse on Annies boobs....

I hope it does well, I'm planning to see it. It sounds like a good story, and I like Anne's character's description, and it will be interesting to see Jake playing this kind of role too.

His last films were so serious and it is good to see him in something more lighthearted.

This could really become a crowdpleaser.

Ewww!

Anonymous said...

I don't think it's entirely lighthearted though. Anne's character has Parkinsons and it sounds like there are some pretty serious themes - health care, prescription drugs, etc.

Anonymous said...

Sorry, but you seem to forget the reactions here when Jake was spitting on that paparazzi.....

Why are you playing stupid? People criticized Jake here for that incident and you know it. JGL should get special treatment because you like him?

Anonymous said...

Oh God no, we all know the paparazzi are sacrosanct. I wouldn't dream of such a thing!

Anonymous said...

Keep playing stupid.

Nolan and DiCaprio made the movie a success.

Keep telling yourself that and maybe you'll believe it."

You MUST be joking. If you think Nolan and DiCaprio aren't the reasons behind Inception's success you are SERIOUSLY delusional.

Anonymous said...

Of course they are a huge part of it, but you are the one who is delusional if you deny that people didn't notice and enjoy the entire cast. I know what I saw and heard as an audience member, people unanimously loved TH's and JGL's lines and scenes, and I don't think they were first-time viewers of Inception. So keep telling yourself that it wouldn't have been a success otherwise. Nolan chose his cast very wisely, and the movie is a masterpiece. Maybe Chris Nolan could have cast inanimate mannequins and it still would have been a hit, though, who knows.

Anonymous said...

I can't wait until the DVD comes out.

Anonymous said...

JGL and Tom Hardy DID NOT make Inception a hit. It would've been a success regardless who played their characters and said their lines (wrote by Nolan). Nolan and DiCaprio were the box office draw--Nolan because of the smash hit TDK and Leo because of Titanic and his other work, both have a large following. JGL and Tom Hardy are unknown actors to the average moviegoer, only their own fans bought a ticket for them.

Anonymous said...

People didn't went to see Inception because they wanted to watch TH or JGL. Movie is very good, but not a masterpiece.

Anonymous said...

^^You are right, but they were an added plus, I think, and a really pleasant surprise. They won't be that unknown anymore, that's for sure. :)

Not all actors are interchangeable like props, lol. Some make a role their own. Imagine Chace Crawford and Channing Tatum as the point man and the forger. Fail. Also, it's Nolan's writing but Hardy improvised the "darling" in the best line of the movie, making it immeasurably better. Personally, I think Hardy stole every scene he was in, and the chemistry between him and JGL has contributed to the film's popularity. No director, producer or casting agent in Hollywood thinks these two had nothing to do with Inception's success, even though it's a "Nolan and Leo" movie.

"Inception" is a hit and both, JGL and Tom Hardy are now known to a wider audience. Both had great scenes and lines. Both characters were appreciated by the audience not only by women also the fanboys.

Every director, producer or casting agent in Hollywood knows that they didn't sell the movie, aren't the reason for good BO.

Loody says:

As stated earlier, the film while technically well made (Zwick is a professional director) is cliche ridden and predictable. By the end of the film I felt like we were getting a doctor’s lesson on Parkinson’s Disease.
The film COULD HAVE gone in a very interesting direction had it explored the difficulties of dating someone with a severe illness. It could have touched on some very sensitive issues regarding that topic in an intelligent non-Hollywood way that I think would have really had an impact on the viewers.
Instead the film opts for a feel-good, traditional Hollywood ending. The mainstream audience may enjoy that and as a result it may be a hit, but I personally thought it could have been so much more.

There's a hot new couple in town! Jake Gyllenhaal isn't letting his split from Reese get the best of him, in fact, he already has another woman in his life.

Jake has been quietly dating Rachel Bilson, sources close to the couple tell Hollyscoop.

"They're trying to keep a low profile but they're definitely dating," a source close to the new couple tells Hollyscoop EXCLUSIVELY.

Both Jake and Rachel are notoriously private when it comes to their personal lives so they want to keep their new relationship under wraps for as long as they can.

Rachel recently split from her fiancé Hayden Christensen, but the details of the breakup remain vague. It certainly didn't take her long to get back in the dating game though. But when you're as adorable as Rachel, you don't stay single for too long.

What do you think of the new couple? Tell us your thoughts!

^^I've never been really sure if Jake was gay, I tended to think he was bi. But like Reeke many of you convinced Jake is gay, if he really is dating Bilson, I'll be 100% convinced he is gay.

I think Rachel's a nice gal, nothing like Witherspoon. It's Jake's decision to beard and she probably will get more publicity with him. I hope JIG fans won't post nasty things about her 24/7 like with Reese. She, other than Reese, doesn't deserve it imo.

idk, I think Jake and his people know that they're not going to win over the JiG crowd. They know that we know and we know that they know that we know, etc. So they want to concentrate on the fangirls and the public at large, a lot of whom don't know much, if anything, about Rachel Bilson and will just see that she is some pretty young thing and don't they make a gorgeous couple, blah, blah. Having said that, I admit that out of all the pretty young things out there, idk why you'd pick someone who just GOT DONE bearding - but if you look at posts at places like Lashers, some of the people there never heard of her so they certainly wouldn't know that either (plus those same folks don't believe there is such a thing as a beard so they would just dismiss it).

I don't think the beardng market is too wide.

A beard is like a baby sitter. The best ones are hard to find and you can't settle for nothing less than the best professional.
If Rachel is the most descent thing Jake can get right now, then I guess he'll have to go for it.

I choose the name "Rake",btw

He most likely won't come out anytime soon, wouldn't people be suspicious if he is publically single for years and years?

Anonymous said...

But he's not "single" for years and years.

I've watched both premiere videos of Natalie for Black Swan and Michelle Williams for Meek's Cutoff. Natalie took the time to sign autographs for fans, whereas Michelle didn't and fans booed. I'm usually not a Natalie fan, because of some really silly remarks and actions of her as of late, but that made me dilike her a bit less. :D
