Who says Gosling isn't recognized in the industry? He has one Oscar nomination under his belt and a good chance at getting another. Even Jake mentioned Ryan specifically as an actor he'd like to work with. And who did that list a few months ago about the best 30 and under actors? I believe he was No. 1. As for better offers, I guess everyone has their own opinion on what a "good" offer means. For some it's not about box office.

Not everyone prefers the "better actor". For me, there are a number of things that draw me to an actor, talent isn't the only one, and not the most important. Ryan G doesn't interest me as an actor or person. He can be a million times better than Jake and his colleagues, I just don't care about him.

Isn't it strange that in spite of the good feedback from screenings LAOD doesn't play at any festivals? If the movie is as good as some sources say it is why don't they trust it enough to open it at festivals? LAOD could only benefit from the exposure. Unless these so called sources are plants and this is the studio's way of creating buzz. Notice that every report insists on how naked Jake and Anne are... trying to stir up interest?

I’ve also found that a lot of winners at these festivals are movies I would never pay to see. Spitfire Grill anyone? I don’t think so. And, I love indies.

It does help, if it's good. It creates positive WOM which helps at the box office, but I was thinking about creating buzz with critics for the awards season. I can't think of any good reason to not want a supposedly good movie to open at prestigious festivals, unless it was submitted and not selected.

Oh, ffs. I'm a huge JGL fan and a few weeks ago I even recommended that someone should see Mysterious Skin because he's so amazing. I think because of Inception JGL is finally going to get a lot more of the attention and recognition that he deserves. His upcoming movies look really interesting. Giving praise to an actor is not the same as dissing other ones! It's possible to think more than one actor is praiseworthy.

This re-teaming of Venice/Toronto premiere “Brokeback Mountain”‘s not-quite-couple Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway is based on Jamie Reidy’s memoir “Hard Sell: The Evolution of a Viagra Salesman.” Gyllenhaal plays said Viagra salesman, who meets and falls in love with Hathaway’s character—who has Parkinson’s Disease (cue Oscar buzz). The film’s trailer has proven quite popular and buzz is already quite high. But 20th Century Fox decided to keep audiences away from “Drugs” until its November release (unless it pops up somewhere else, though that seems doubtful).

IMO the success or failure of LAOD and Source Code will make or break Jake. If both are a succes - not necessarily in terms of awards, but audience/critics/box office, he has all possibilities. If they are failures I fear he will follow the path of Christensen.

Many have lamented this summer movie season as lackluster, but it hasn’t been. Things did get off to a bit of a rough start, but we ended up receiving a handful of worthwhile blockbusters and plenty of excellent indies. And most importantly, we got plenty of characters that will be remembered as above-the-cuff badasses.
When it comes to summer blockbusters it’s important to have your leading man or nemesis be heroic or strong –especially if he’s going to save the day (or try and ruin it). While a few of the characters on this list may not appear to be natural “badasses” on the surface, they most certainly are just that.
To kick things off, here are some of the lamest heroes of the summer. The ones that you don’t buy for a second as the savior of the day and ones you would rather see suffer a horrible death at the hands of their antagonist.

It´s just something that most people say in comments no matter if they believe it or not.

IMO, if there really is a BT, the perfect move would be for Jake to reveal he's a single dad and play up a sexy yet settled, non-partier, home-oriented child-loving gorgeous Farmer's Market organic shopper image - but without delving into his sexuality. Yes, there's something sexy about the single goodlooking dad image and it gives him another dimension that is missing with many of his peers like Gosling, JGL, Sam Worthington, Tom Hardy, etc. A sexy dad who outwardly appears to be available and most importantly, who IS available in everyone's imagination and hopes. It'll keep the gays talking and suspicious that he's gay, the straight females optimistic that they have a chance, and the straight males (who have no romantic fantasies about him) respectful that here is a young hardworking guy raising a kid just like they are or hope to be doing. Seriously I think that approach would work IF there's a Baby Tile of course, lol. If not maybe Jake could adopt or rent a kid!

Some movie reviewers are disturbed when an actor is too pretty and don't think it's credible.and yet Jake is a really good actor and has one of the most expressive face I ever seen. I have to disagree mostly with the 4:35 post. I don't think the gay fans who appreciate the gay rumors can make up for the straight fans who don't/are turned off by them. I mean, gay people are still a minority here, and the fact is, lots of gay fans are turned off by his bearding, etc. IMO, he was much more appealing to them before Reeke, which was a slap in their face.
There are plenty of peeps who don't care enough about him to pay attn, and i think those are the peeps all the Reeke stories were aimed at. Folks who'd heard a rumor or two and could say, "Oh, he must not be gay. He's dating that sweet Reese Witherspoon. Aw."
Ted's fans are only a small portion of the peeps who think he's gay. I thought that from the very beginning of my fanship, back when i just poked around on the internet and found so many things that pointed in that direction. #1 being a lack of any gf other than Kirstin. #2 being his propensity to hang out with guys almost exclusively and never been seen with women. I groan with dismay every time Jake's people wheel out a new beard from the woodwork, because no matter what they do or who they stand him next to, 3/4 of the internets are like, BEARD ALEEEERT! I think Jake will be fine. All actors have had roles that for one reason or another, didn't do well at the box office. It's not the end of the world. I think LaOD will do well. I wouldn't mind seeing more of Lukas either, I liked seeing him again in Inception. :)

Not odd at all since they ignores the E online article on secret babies and closeted actors with quotes from Ted was posted there and it was ignored.
I also noticed that they ignored Jake in Leadville with Peter and the film crew for a few days when all the other Jake blogs talked about it, SK only did a post after it was confirmed that Jake was there last weekend with Peter. I bet they thought Jake was in NC or Austin was in Co and they were spiining some fan fic, Leadville and Ted's latest comments have made it difficult for them to spin.
SK/OMG is back to spinning Austin's asanine tweets and slamming Sophia, SK really does have issues that I et goes back to HS and cheerleaders, LOL!

I used to enjoy posting on OMG because i shared their views on Reeke and that was enough for me. However, it eventually got to be tiresome - for ME - because i could not make myself believe that Jake was still involved with Austin and i sure couldn't believe they had a kid or kids together.
IMO - that says something really awful about Jake, that he would hide away his own child for years just to further his career, and i don't want to believe that about him. I had a hard enough time staying on board thru all the Reeke drama, which totally turned my stomach. However, that was done out there in the public eye for everyone to see and have an opinion about, so he had to expect some sort of reaction to it. He wouldn't have done it if he hadn't expected a reaction. That was the whole point - for people to notice and hopefully buy off on it. Some did; many did not.
So anyway, altho i do feel bad about giving him so much hell about that, my feelings - right or wrong - were at least based on something known and tangible: Reeke.
But to continually villify him as a Terrible Father of an unknown & unseen baby, just because he went out with a stain/wet spot on his shorts and because someone in the Reeke entourage happened to have a baby along for the trip to Paris is just over the top unfair imo. He doesn't deserve that and i didn't want to be a part of it any longer.
However, that's the designated spot to go if anyone wants to engage in that discussion. I say, live and let live. S!

Tom, i'm not trashing anyone, here or there. I do think the OMG beliefs have gone beyond believable, but if you are happy discussing them, that's fine. I do get a bit upset with how Jake gets run thru the mill for being a bad dad, which is what i said above.
As for marketing him as a single father, he may as well come out if he does that. With his image already teetering, that would push him into the realm of dads without baby-mamas because they don't WANT a baby-mama. I don't think there is any way he could suddenly have a kid - either the BT or a new baby - and come out with anyone believing he's straight.

I think you are free to express your opinion on OMG. I also think someone has the right to respond. Much of the critism directed at Jake comes from myself. I have tried to focus on other things and not say much about Jake. I got tired of hearing myself say the same thing over and over again. There are some posters who are very protective of Jake on OMG. I find that endearing and not mean spirited. You know how the old saying goes if you can't take the heat get out of the kitcken:-) Also there is really a deleted comment unless it is a nasty comment directed at another poster on OMG. I like OMG and WFT2. There are differences and that is good. Makes things interesting.
If it's a civil discussion, no. I happen to like that, even when the discussions get heated, it makes the blogs interesting. But when it degrades into juvenile name calling and insults, then it's best to shut them down and ignore.
With all the rumors flying about her and Hayden, I'm surprised that they would link Rachel with Jake.

I agree: I like Jake, and watching the train wreck that was Reeke was so not fun. Plus, it f'd up my enjoyment of him. If he ever really falls in love with someone, girl or guy, i'm all for it. It's not like i don't want him to have a life so I can enjoy him. But selfishly, he was my one bit of totally frivilous fun and it got all screwed up when she came along. I really liked the idea of him being gay - it made him unique and special and interesting. Somehow it elevated him about all the other dudes in HW. I think we're kind of at a lull right now, between film. It'll get more interesting! The biggest thing for me is that a guy so drop-dead gorgeous as he is, is never seen with a woman. Except for Reese, and they never seemed to have any spark. It used to bug me that he never held car doors open for her. Not that it's necessary anymore, but it is a gentlemanly thing. lol

I never saw any pics of JBG and Jenny Lewis? Did they really date? I've heard that mentioned before, but since i never saw any pics i wasn't sure if it was true or just a way to make him look more straight. I find it super-odd that there are so few pics of him with women other than K and R.
I still enjoy writing in the fandom, and it kinda sucks to see folks giving it so much hell like there isn't anything good being written any more. There aren't as many authors writing these days, but i think there are several good stories in progress. There are also some that aren't so great, but that's always been the case. And it's a fandom, not Barnes and Noble. I am glad for anyone who enjoys writing to get their chance to have someone read their work. It's a fun hobby, and it keeps us off the streets and out of the shopping malls. Long live the BBM fandom! S!
I don't know about the rest of the fandom, but for me, the loss of Heath really took the wind out of my sails. But I got an infusion of zest since I saw Inception, for some reason. I'll always think the world of Chris Nolan, not only as a talented and inventive director, but a classy gentleman. He was great about Heath, and brought out the best in him. :)

The reason why you only saw that one or 2 pics of them (at the premiere of DD I believe) is because the paps didn't give a shit then and they were together less then a year. They weren't hanging out in the usual pap spots I assume that came later on.

Fandom, BBM fandom or Jake fandom? The Jake fandom doesn't care that much about BBM. Now if you're referring to BBM fandom, the one I'm talking about, I think it's supposed to be about the love for the movie, not just the kink of some women who know they''ll never get with Jake so they live vicariously through Ennis. Many can't separate Jake from Jack. Babblers downplayed BBM, its importance to Jake's career and life many times and they are a big portion of what's left of the fandom so that should tell you how important the movie itself is to them.
I give the BBM fandom 2 years tops.

I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing, moving on is a natural process.
I wasn't talking about BBM, the slashers, etc. Just fandoms in general. I kinda lost interest for awhile. I'll never ever forget the film. I don't think being a fan means you secretly want to "get with" your favorite actor, or are deluded enough to think you can. Maybe you just think they are very talented, interesting and attractive to watch, and that's it.

First of all you have to define "dating." Going out to a movie with an opposite sex friend is many times described (especially by outsiders/co-workers/acquaintances who see you but really don't know you) as dating. In Hollywood two opposite sex stars sitting in the same restaurant means dating. "Dating" is a wide term; it doesn't automatically mean having sex.

Yes, all those things. Mmmmm. I did see him sing Natural Woman. Who knew. I loved Third Rock too, one of the funniest shows ever, and he was really cute in it. He's got a nice face, voice and body, so athletic and graceful, in a guy's way.

Believe it or not, not everyone is impressed with JGL.
No, there really isn't that much of a resemblance between HAL and JGL, just a little bit. However, it's enough for me. JGL is wonderful in his own right. Not that Heath could ever be replaced, but it's nice to know that there are other uniquely talented actors around. I love JGL's attitudes about HW, and just about everything else. I do find JGL quite masculine, just in a non-traditional way. His face is gorgeous, his body is compact and wiry. There are many kinds of manly, thank goodness. :)
