And this morning when I checked into DL, some poster was claiming Tom had had a rumoured fling with a 'male understudy' in Chicago.

So much for boyhood experimentation. What a goer! If he were an oil spill he'd be somewhere bewteen China and Exxon's.

He appeared last season in a play at the Goodman in Chicago. He starts off the play nude and he has a very nice size dick. He also has a lot of tattoos. But, more importantly, there were a lot of rumors at the theatre that Mr. Hardy was having a fling with one of the understudies...a male understudy.

Go get technical and petty somewhere else.

I wasn't technical or petty. I was just interested in your opinion and it is not my fault you were pissed off last night.

Chelsea Clinton Weds In New York said...

The Clintons's statement via The NY Times: “Today, we watched with great pride and overwhelming emotion as Chelsea and Marc wed in a beautiful ceremony at Astor Courts, surrounded by family and their close friends. We could not have asked for a more perfect day to celebrate the beginning of their life together, and we are so happy to welcome Marc into our family.”

Just for the record, Clinton wore a strapless beaded gown designed by Vera Wang and Hillary Clinton wore a plum-colored gown by Oscar de la Renta.

Australia's First Showbiz Superhomo Couple

...In December 2007 Campbell confirmed his sexuality in a Melbourne newspaper interview that was widely picked up by other media outlets. Then he insisted he and Callea were "mates", both getting over break-ups with their respective partners. "We were questioned in early times together," Campbell says now, "and we kind of kept saying 'no' because, I mean, really, we'd only just met. You know, 'Are we together?' 'I dunno!"'

By following February, Campbell made "no" a definite "yes" in a radio interview. "We'd just kept denying it and ringing our managers and doing all that game-playing stuff, and we just got to a point where the relationship was really great and we were really happy with it, and [we wanted] to stop speculation fuelling."

Anonymous said...

So much for boyhood experimentation.

Hey now, maybe Tom is indecisive and still needs to find out if he likes gay sex or not, lol.

Anonymous said...

What impact might his honesty about his sexuality have on Campbell's career? In April, gay Newsweek writer Ramin Setoodeh criticised gay actor Sean Hayes – gay Jack in sitcom Will and Grace – for being "wooden" as a straight character in a Broadway revival of Promises, Promises.

Setoodeh argued that openly gay actors "still have reason to be scared". "While it's OK for straight actors to play gay (as Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger did in Brokeback Mountain), it's rare for someone to pull off the trick in reverse."

Campbell thinks watching a lot of Will and Grace may have blinkered Setoodeh's critical view. "It will be an interesting time now because I guess I do have a bit of a gay tag as an actor as well, and as much as I'd hate that to get in the way of roles because – oh, look, I've never had an issue; I've never played a gay role on telly or on stage."

Fake Pregnancy but Real Baby

Despite what the tabloids and glossy mags say, this very famous show business couple in not really pregnant. She had her tubes tied a long time ago. For the next few months, though, her fake, special-effects pregnant stomach made of silicone will slowly grow in size until she “gives birth” to an adopted baby. Since her other child/ren didn’t resemble her, no one will question that fact that this one won’t, either. You’ll get a close-up of the scientifically-made miracle child on the front cover of a magazine (now being negotiated for a hefty fee).

Q: Have the reasons behind gay males often being emotionally attracted to flamboyant, sometimes tragic women (Judy Garland, Cher etc.) ever been discussed or explored? – Jerry, Australia

A: It’s a little known fact that many gay men share several strands of DNA with raccoons: we’re drawn to sparkly things. In truth, no one really knows what’s up with gay men and fabulous female divas – and there might be as many theories as there are gay men. Here’s mine:

Gay men were traditionally very marginalized and oppressed – generally by straight men and the institutions they controlled. There were very, very few out gay men to identify with in entertainment, and we were reluctant to openly identify with our oppressors, so we were drawn to another group of outsiders: women.

But not just any women. Interestingly, we had no interest in demure, quietly-accept-the-status-quo female icons like Donna Reed, Doris Day, or the Virgin Mary (except in an ironic, camp way).

No, we were drawn to women who seemed to want to shake things up: women who seemed to be overcoming the odds of being the the wrong race (Diana, Aretha, Chita, Lena, Eartha), or having a big nose (Barbra, Cher, Bette Midler), or dealing with some kind of addiction (Judy, Liza, Janis), or just the general sense that men were out to abuse or dismiss them, mostly because they couldn’t conform to or wouldn’t play by the rules other men had made up (Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Lucille Ball, Marlene Dietrich, Elizabeth Taylor, Billie Jean King, and, well, all of the women listed above).

Even if it was sometimes subconscious, these women were demanding, through sheer force of their considerable talent and willpower, a reexamination of social mores.

And there was a subversiveness in how they went about it – a cheeky, wink-wink-nod-nod attitude that went over the head of many straight viewers. Through their choices of songs and roles, these divas could communicate one thing to their gay audiences, while still being conventional enough to find “mainstream” success.

What gay guy, circa 1972, couldn’t relate to that? It was exactly the way we wanted to live our own lives.

And then there are the tragic figures – women like Judy, Marilyn Monroe, and Janis Joplin who were destroyed by not just their own indulgences, but surely by social pressures as well. Perhaps we celebrate them because we understand their pain.

But as I’ve written several times recently, the times are changing – the role of divas is changing too. In a nutshell, this is why Kathy Griffin won’t shut the hell up.

No, I’m not.

If someone wrote "Gays killed Jesus" how would you feel?

Mel Gibson had a character in his movie who was gay and tossed him out a window to his death to get cheers from his audience. He then said disgusting things about people who are gay, women, jews, blacks, hispanics, should i go on? Oh, he hit his baby’s mama because “she deserved it.”

I live in the real world. Hate promotes hate.

I kind of doubt Jake was offered a role in Inception. At least not Leo's, he was hired to draw the audience mainly (imo). Other hot candidates for Leo's role were Will Smith and Brad Pitt.
Let's see how LAOD will fare B.O. wise with him and Hathaway as leads. As for award potential for LAOD, I don't see it.

Source Code said...

...
Back in January, you blogged here at the start of the Source Code process. Can you tell us a bit about how it all panned out after that, the experience of working, the learning experience, the cast, managing a second unit in Chicago etc?

It has been a seismic shift on how I would normally work, but I think I have adjusted ok. It all makes complete sense, when you think about it. With more money, there is more caution, more advice, more suggestion, and over the course of making the film, I had to keep reminding myself that I was asked to direct the film because the people in charge trusted my choices. I think that was the real turning point. At first it was a little over whelming, being second-guessed so much, but I educated myself fast, and fortunately I was supported by the incredibly gracious and talented Jake G, who really got behind me and trusted my instincts. It would have been easy to lose my perspective, with so many others being offered.
...
We’re all REALLY looking forward to Source Code, especially after the great feedback from Jake Gyllenhaal while being interviewed on PoP promotional tour, if you could take a step back, like Worzel Gummidge, and pop on an audience head, what would you think of what you have all achieved?

Too close to it, to be honest! I know that performance-wise we got some great stuff from Jake, Michelle, Vera and Jeffrey. I know that the script was always tight, and the film has a hell of a fast pace to it. I know that I did my best to inject some humor where I could. But other than that, we float, helpless in the post-production maelstrom right now!

About Tom Hardy: I find it odd that all these commenters (at other blogs) are suddenly coming out of the woodwork and now spilling about their sexual encounters with him. Did they ever mention it before? Did they ever write about it on other sites or their own blogs to record the events? I doubt it. I don't think the encounters ever happened. I'm not saying Hardy isn't gay or bi or had experiences; it's just that now people are jumping on the bandwagon and announcing "Yeah it's totally true - he's gay! I've had sex with Tom Hardy!" when I'm sure they didn't even know the man existed until they read that interview.

Anonymous said...

Did mainstream media (like Daily Mail) discuss Tom Hardy's sexuality before? I don't think so. There has to be the first time for everything, and that includes talking about sexual encounters.

Anonymous said...

fortunately I was supported by the incredibly gracious and talented Jake G, who really got behind me and trusted my instincts

Awwwww!

Anonymous said...

No one talked about Tom Hardy and/or his sex life before because no one gave a fuck about him until Inception. He was mostly just in British shows and films.

Positive about Hardy, despite everything said...

Even though PR dialed it back, the fact that Tom Hardy said as much as he did (shoe cliches and "it doesn't do it for me now" notwithstanding) in the original Attitude interview is viewed positively by some. Interesting that Frank and Andy - a blog from my generation - taps him and others like Enrique and Cesc for being progressive.

The New Leading Man

Perhaps then, this is the new leading man. While gay actors like Matt Bomer, whose double life includes a husband and kids, or Zachary Quinto and Wentworth Miller, continue to perpetuate the false attitude that to be open about your sexuality is career ending, clearly Tom isn’t too caught up in the implications of his sexuality. He’s incredibly attractive, in the summer’s biggest Hollywood blockbuster, and is a father, engaged to a beautiful woman. I’ll go out on a limb here and say Tom Hardy probably doesn’t lose sleep over his sexuality, or silly newspaper headlines for that matter.

Anonymous said...

Frank and Andy go to mention attitudes and this made me think of Jake on Jonathan Ross gagging at suggestion of a man kiss.

... For example last week, Enrique Iglesias appeared on Lopez Tonight to promote his new album Euphoria. When male fans in the audience cheered loudly, George Lopez asked Enrique if he’d ever kissed a guy before. As his male fans cheered louder, Enrique recalled performing recently at the London gay club G-A-Y where he serenaded a male fan on stage, something he has done before (see the video at left, taken at a concert several years ago. Enrique couldn’t be more cool). When George Lopez persisted by saying, “So you’re not opposed to kissing a dude,” Enrique asked, “You mean like, experimenting?” Before leaning in to kiss George on the cheek. The audience cheers, both men laugh, and for a gay guy watching, you can see Enrique gets it. His fans get it. Who he’s personally attracted to is irrelevant.

A similar television moment took place in Spain following the World Cup. At the conclusion of a short on camera interview with Spanish soccer star Cesc Fabregas, the television reporter Raul Gomez asked Cesc if he would fufill his dream of kissing a World Cup champion. Although the kiss is humorous, Cesc agrees with out hesitation. It’s a small gesture, but the lack of resistance, of self-awareness, of will this spark headlines or tarnish my public image self-doubt, is significant. It’s just a kiss.

For some, there's a difference between playing gay on screen and kissing another man in real life or admitting to it. I like actors like Ewan McGregor, who have few hangups about either.

Queerty: So Is Tom Hardy Not Formerly Bisexual? Or Just Scared Screwing Dudes Will Ruin His Future In Hollywood?

Anonymous said...

Comment to the Queerty article-

No. 30 · Erick
Seriously Queerty, get your act together, find the facts before you start "reporting".
Those quotes were taken by the Daily Mail from an Attitude Magazine interview from 2009 regarding his role in Rockanrolla. Those quotes most of the media regurgitated last week were taken out of context by the Daily Mail and did not accredited to Attitude.
If you read the original interview he said he fooled around with guys when was a kid, but guys dont do it for him. He in no way shape or form said he was bisexual, so he does not have to backtrack.
So when they say his comment were taken out of context is true, by the loathsome Daily Mail. In the original interview he is actually very honest and cool about playing around with guys in his teens, which is more than the majority of guys would even begin to admit to themselves.
Dont star hating on a cool guy who seems like an ally when you dont have all the facts

Obviously "White Collar" is his big break, but I'd definitely go back and watch some of his older stuff if you haven't seen it. :)

Thanks. I tried watching Chuck when it first started and couldn't get into it, but I'll try to check out the other two shows.

Not to stir things up since it was last night/earlier today, but I think "Jew boy" is offensive, and I don't know anyone Jewish who would ever use that, and certainly not as some kind of terms of endearment as someone suggested. The word "Jew" just in of itself is often used in a derogatory way, therefore the preferred term is Jewish. maybe it is because of the Holocaust, but Jews just don't throw around words that way, say, rappers throw around the "N" word.

I saw the comment at 8:17 when I glanced here earlier but didn't have time to comment, and am glad to see that one is gone too. Also offensive and anti-Semitic.

Joe McElderry's First Kiss Tells All said...

It didn't take long for X-Factor winner Joe McElderry's past to come forward following the young singer's revelation that he was gay on Friday.

Sean Ryan, a trainee hairdresser and model, went to UK's Sun tabloid to talk about how he was the singer's first kiss after meeting him backstage at the X-Factor audition:

"I got up to go home. I turned round and he made the first move and kissed me. It was definitely the first time he'd kissed a guy because he told me. He said he'd kissed a few girls but never had sex. It was a long passionate kiss. But that was all that happened and I left...He was shy and turned away when I leaned towards him. I could see he had the uncertainty I had felt at his age....[A week later they did kiss] Joe opened the door in pyjamas. His mum was out so we lay on the settee and kissed and cuddled. We didn't ever get any more intimate than that...He's been brave. It can't have been easy doing that in the public eye."

Over the weekend McElderry expressed gratitude for all the support he's received since coming out.

Dear Ted:
Is there anyone in Hollywood that is not full of vices? Or anyone that you consider such an awesome person you just can't write anything bad about them?

Dear Optimist:
You don't get anywhere in Hollywood by being sweet. If I were to say a couple of babes I'm quite fond of, but who are hardly flawless, it would be George Clooney and Meryl Streep. Tho Meryl is about as close to perfect as you'll get in this town.

Dear Ted:
Love that you're loving on Joseph Gordon-Levitt now! Totes agree. One of the best. Had the pleasure of meeting him once...class act. Anyway, you got it wrong about who he's dating. His GF is Lexy Hulme...a dancer. It's pretty serious from what I hear. So, are the rumors about him working with Kristen Stewart true? Read it on your board and was wondering. If so, would totally love that. They're both terrific actors. What are your thoughts?
—JGL fan

Dear Premature Excitement:
Knew JGL and Lexi were going strong at Sundance, but, not sure if that's still the case, babe. Either way, the guy's a total sweetheart and über-talented. He's gonna be big in Hollywood, no doubt. Haven't heard anything definitive on the K.Stew stuff, but think it's a fab idea.

Dear Ted:
What's your opinion of Ian Halperin? He seems to ride the coattails of your Blind Vices, outs celebrities without any valid proof and constantly plugs his own "tell-all" books and movies. Is this guy legit, or nothing more than a shifty fraudster?
—E

Dear Imitation Is Flattery:
I know very little about Ian, personally, only that he's been very gracious with me the few times we've spoken.

Dear Ted:
I'm a huge fan of HBO's True Blood. I've noticed that its stars frequent talk shows around key promo times (such as Chelsea Lately, Regis & Kelly). All of the main stars have made appearances except for my personal fave, Alexander Skarsgård. What gives?

I think JGL would make a great Bat-Villain. Nolan seems to know what the guys like in an action film, but what women like too. His Gotham world is the most real I have ever seen, not cartoonish. Nathan Lane joins Modern Family!

Nathan Lane is spending some time with the 'Family' next season.

Lane, star of Broadway and the movies, will play Pepper, a friend of Cam (Eric Stonestreet) and Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) on the ABC series 'Modern Family,' according to the Vulture report. He's described in the report as their "ultraflamboyant" friend, and that's saying something considering the personalities of the outwardly blissful Cam and Mitchell.

Lane is booked for a single episode. Although producers are attempting to keep the guest stars to a minimum in the upcoming season, the Lane spot was too hard to resist, according to the report. "Nathan was just too perfect for the role," said executive producer Steve Levitan.

How will he fit in? An old flame of Mitchell, who seems to go for the big and burly types? A babysitter for Lily? We shall see.

Season two of 'Modern Family' premieres on ABC Weds. Sept. 22 at 9PM ET.

I was trying to catch up on Bomer posts during lunch. The only reason I'm bringing this up is that I can't believe the hate being spewed on the JJ post on Saturday, a lot of it in the name of "Christianity". I could be wrong, but what with the anti-Semitic posts on here on Saturday, plus some digs at Bomer that seemed to come from our troll, I couldn't help but think our freeper loving troll was working himself up and spewing all over the internet.

You have to really be sick to get your jollies doing that.

And wow, three ONTD posts on Bomer just over the weekend. Haven't caught up on those yet.

I was at a mechanic's today for my car. It was a new shop I'd never been to before. While I was quietly reading, waiting, about 3 of the male mechanics were close to me standing on the other side of an open door and I could hear them chat. One of them brought up something and the other said "well call your ex-bf and ask him about it" and one of them said "no way would I call him" and the third guy said "why not, don't you still talk after all this time since you broke up?" LOL I don't know which ones were gay or if one was and the other two were supportive but it was surprising (and nice) to hear.

WDW - Jake Gyllenhaal on how Heath Ledger always inspires him to want to be a better actor

"Q: Your friend and "Brokeback" co-star Heath Ledger died in 2008.Has your view of life changed since?
JG: It sounds kind of funny that what I had focused on so far that had become so important, became even more important in my life. I refer to my work. It was even more important because I felt that what Heath had done was so extraordinary and inspiring. So I always want to be a better actor. On the other side of me as a human being, it was clear that it's just my job. I think that - mainly in the film industry - there are people who think that they will never grow old, never die. Heath has gone from us much too soon. I've noticed a distinction between work and life."

~~~~~~~
Nice words about Heath. But I thought Jake said he wasn't going to talk about Heath because it was no one's business? I thought he said Heath would "roll his eyes" if he spoke about him? I guess it depends on how he feels the day he's asked.
About Tom Hardy: I find it odd that all these commenters (at other blogs) are suddenly coming out of the woodwork and now spilling about their sexual encounters with him. Did they ever mention it before? Did they ever write about it on other sites or their own blogs to record the events? I doubt it. I don't think the encounters ever happened. I'm not saying Hardy isn't gay or bi or had experiences; it's just that now people are jumping on the bandwagon and announcing "Yeah it's totally true - he's gay! I've had sex with Tom Hardy!" when I'm sure they didn't even know the man existed until they read that interview.
^^ this is the kind of shit that bothers me. there was no coming out of the woodwork of past sexual partners with the bi female celebrities. No past partners, no ridicule from the male gay community, the female gay comm., no backlash. this is part of why male stars who deal with both sexes in the past and currently, don't speak about it. why bother? You are only gonna be labeled as gay or lying.. From the str8 commuinity, the gay comm. and all the tabloids will take shots at you.
Anonymous said...
Now one speaks about his sexual experiences openly, (somewhat), in an interview from years ago, and now all hell breaks loose.
Couple of thoughts about all the commentators coming out of the woodwork about Hardy. Some of them could be true, and maybe some of them didn't want to talk about him before now so as to not out him.
But generally I tend to believe these stories more when the person is not that well-known, or when you find old stories when you go back and look for them after the fact.
Why chatter about men, but not women? I think men like to boast more than women. I also suspect that in a lot of cases of bisexuality and women it may have just been a few partners, while I suspect with men there's more partners.
Jake did NOT say that, he said:
"The experience Heath and I had was also shared publicly with all the press and publicity we did. But what we shared as friends, though I respect the interest that so many people have in the mourning and grieving process and how it feels to other people, I feel like — and I don’t mean this in an unkind way — but I don’t think it’s anybody’s business but his and mine. So in that sense, to really respect him — and also the way he felt about his life and his private life and what he cared about, because he was a deeply caring and loving human being — every time anybody asks me any question about him, it would be like he was sitting next to me, and I know he would roll his eyes, because that’s the way he was. It was between us.”
I know what Jake said. I've read it more than once. "every time anybody asks me any question about him, it would be like he was sitting next to me, and I know he would roll his eyes"
So, what's the difference in what I wrote and what he said? Someone asked him a question about Heath. This time he answered. He didn't say it was no one's business and apparently he didn't think Heath would roll his eyes at the answer he gave. He's being inconsistent, which is fine, maybe it depends on his mood. There's no reason to be so defensive about him. I don't agree with the poster who said that Jake's answers are PR written. I think they're from the heart - but he's still inconsistent.
I have read all four sentences. If you read the interview from which this is taken, the interviewer did not ask Jake any "private" questions or ask him to betray a confidence he had with Heath. Sorry, but I see Jake as being inconsistent. Again, it's not a criticism so there's no need to be defensive. Jake has previously spoken about the fact that he was enamored of Heath - that's a personal feeling. Why wouldn't Heath roll his eyes at that? I kind of think he would. Jake also answered, I think it was in a Russian interview, a question about what was going on with Heath before he died, his frame of mind, was he in a bad way, etc. Jake didn't decline to answer that question, although he certainly could have. I don't remember his exact answer, but it was something along the lines that he had been in contact with him and didn't sense that anything was wrong. Anyway, my point is - he has spoken about personal things to some extent, and that's why I think it's inconsitent, but maybe you're defining it differently.
Miss New York Becomes First Miss America Contestant With Gay Rights Platform
A Beauty Queen to Believe In
By Julie Bolcer
Move over, Carrie Prejean. Claire Buffie, crowned Miss New York in June, is the first Miss America contestant to compete on a gay rights platform. A trained dancer and Apple employee, she knows her profile may seem unusual for a pageant contestant, and that’s exactly why she believes she can win over America in the competition this January.
In her first interview with the gay press, the 24-year-old Indianapolis native spoke with The Advocate about her platform of improving the climate for LGBT youths in schools, misconceptions about beauty pageant contestants, and the real lesson of Prejean, the 2009 Miss USA runner-up.
Do you think beauty pageant contestants are misunderstood?
Yes, I do. Even upon entering my first local for the Miss America organization four years go, I had some of those stereotypes that are very common — the hairspray, the eyelashes, the glue and the tape, and all those things. What I found was a group of incredibly intelligent, driven, and service-minded women. I have found my absolute best friends through this organization.
The Miss America organization is a scholarship organization. Each of us has a platform that we support. Girls support platforms from a variety of places. Things like promoting the arts, arts education in schools, traffic safety, driving safety.
Do you fit the stereotypical mold of a pageant contestant?
I don’t think I fit the mold at all, but I think that’s been the greatest part and the reason I have such an effect on people throughout the pageant. My coworkers have said, “No offense, but I didn’t think you were a pageant girl.” It’s empowering women.
What is your day job?
I have my own business in commercial portraiture and graphic design. I also work for Apple, but I’m not allowed to say any more about Apple other than I work for the company on the technical side, based on PR restrictions.
How did you get started in competition?
I started just four years ago. My platform was a strong reason in getting started. I think it’s an unlikely challenge for this message to be discussed. I competed in Indiana for two years in college. Once I graduated, I came to New York and continued competing. I don’t think I would have continued competing if my platform was not something about which I’m so passionate.
Are you aware of any predecessors who competed on a gay rights platform?
In the 90-year history of Miss America, we have not yet found any Miss America contestant who has had this platform. It is quite unique.
Leonardo DiCaprio & Tom Hardy Join Joseph Gordon-Levitt In The Riddler Competition
With Christopher Nolan behind the next "Batman" movie, taking part in the film could be a dream for every performer. Words on the street are, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy and Joseph Gordon-Levitt who have worked with him in "Inception" are longing to star in untitled Batman 3 project.
The three actors are allegedly battling to play The Ridder in "The Dark Knight" sequel. Comic Book Movie, which obtains the information from an inside source, reports that Warner Bros. allows Nolan to hire one of the actors because of the extra publicity and attention it would bring to the movie as they were praised for their performances in "Inception".
While DiCaprio and Hardy are just added to the list of potential depicter of the movie's villain, Levitt has been linked to the role for quite some time. His status was just listed as "interested" on the list which reportedly mentioned The Riddler as a character which will appear in the upcoming film.
Christopher Nolan is expected to return to the directing seat of "Batman 3" which script is being written by Jonathan Nolan and David S. Goyer. Warner Bros. has secured July 20, 2012 slot for the U.S. release.
As of late, Leonardo DiCaprio was said deciding not to star in untitled Viking project which will be produced by Mel Gibson. The "Titanic" star, however, is on board for producing Catherine Hardwicke-directed thriller "Red Riding Hood".
Tom Hardy, who is possibly best known for playing the title role in British film "Bronson", is set to take a lead role in "Mad Max: Fury Road". He additionally will co-star Reese Witherspoon and Chris Pine in "This Means War".
Joseph Gordon-Levitt, in the meantime, has landed roles in such films as "500 Days of Summer" and "G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra". He is currently in production for "Premium Rush" and will be soon seen in "Hesher" in which he stars as the title character.
That's a good point. Sometimes an actor can change physical appearance to fit a role (DeNiro for Raging Bull and Charlize Theron for Monster), but certain things can't be changed. If Jake plays Namath, he will need some make-up to give him the rougher facial features that Namath has, but basically he's a pretty good fit. Jake bulked up, etc., for PoP, but I wonder how far he'd be willing to go as far as gaining a lot of weight and making himself physically unattractive for a role.
