The first tweet about the movie couple was separate from the one about the chiseled co-stars with beards. Thus the "while the Grey Goose is kicking in" comment... The second part definitely sounds like Supernatural. If he's a soap actor (which makes sense considering all the tweets to soap stars) he was probably talking about Jensen Ackles on Days.

I really think that what it really got between Heath & Naomi was the age difference. Gilliam: We were really close. After "Brothers Grimm," we were buddies. He just had all the qualities being an actor and friend. So after "Brokeback Mountain," he went through a bad year. I think the experience, the publicity for the Academy Awards was too much for him and not who he wanted to be. And he went through a strange year.
I'd thrown some scripts at him and was getting confused answers. So I'd stayed back. He was always interested in whatever I was doing, so he read Parnassus, and I had never asked him to do it. And he was in London working on the Joker, and at the same time he was working on a music video that he had written.
They were designing animation and they needed a place to work, so I put him to work in my effects company. We had a space there and they were happily working. One day, I was showing my special effect boys and talking through the scenes, and Heath slips me this little note saying, "Can I play Tony?" And I said, "Are you serious?" He said, "Yes, I want to see this movie." And the irony is that the only person who doesn't have the chance to watch this movie is Heath Ledger.
CNN: I didn't want him to stop being in the film. Talk to me about that quality.
Gilliam: Some people have seen the film, even though they know the circumstances. They said they were transported by the film, and they forgot the story of how it was made and Heath's death. Gilliam: I don't want to talk about it too much. It was the most devastating moment I've experienced. I was a finished guy. I surrounded myself with people who don't like me, who don't respect me and who don't listen to my every word. And they kicked me until I got up off my back. I imagined we could finish the film.
I've worked with a lot of great people and luckily we remained friends. So one of the people I called was Johnny Depp, because I introduced him to Heath and they had become very close. I was commiserating with Johnny and said, "I think the film's over. I'm going home." And he said "Whatever you decide to do, I'll be there." And that's a heartening statement. That is the beginning of the process of re-imagining the film. It was quite easy to rewrite it. All the premises were there. The ideas were all there. The first scene when Johnny goes through the mirror and his face changes.That establishes the principle very clearly and the rest fell well into place.

There is something i don't understand.
As far i remember, BBM was critically aclaimed and got lots of awards nominations.Heath & Jake were very proud of the movie and they seemed happy whith the success.
While the movie was aclaimed,is not like it was some kind of "Titanic" or "Twilight" cinema event, where the stars couldn't go outside their homes without being literally attacked by hordes of fans. The success of the movie was quiet and respectful and I've never really noticed the "Great Hollywood Machinery" around people involved in the film as Gilliam once said.
It was a very well done indie movie that got recognition and the 4 main actors' carrers changed considerabily for the better the next years.
So, i really don't understand what was what truly pissed Heath off. He already had his stardom moment with 10 Things and Knights Tale, so is not like it was ALL new to him after Brokeback.He was no stranger of Hollywood industry parties and his romances always were of high profiles. Don't want to nitpic here, but Kate (Heath's sister) confiremed H & M were never engaged. Yes, he had a great career, a healthy child and women (and men) seemed to like him. I think one problem was that he got over MW pretty quickly, but forced himself to live with her for the child's sake. That, imo, was one of the problems. But I'm sure that wasn't his only problem when you look at the sad outcome.

Well, I don't see why was such a sacrifice to promote an indie movie like Brokeback. Some interview here, some award presentation there and that was it. I noticed the same, but thought initially that they were checking with him because they wanted to ingratiate themselves with the alpha male.
But then it was in fact therapy: they wanted to protect him, see how he holds to the mediatic pressure, reassure him. He was the sensitive one in private life, although such a force on screen.

Some stars have enormous charisma. Hard to explain if you have never seen it live. I did once when I stumbled into a film set in Chicago a number of years go. I wont name the star, but he was a major hunk and very famous. We all waited behind a rope for the scene being filmed to unfold and the actor walked into the room from a behind a doorway. He radiated. We were bowled over. It was like an energy was pouring out of him. A life force. They say Heath had it too, in spades.
Someone wrote this to Celebitchy after Heath died, about the water pistol attack on him and Michelle at the BBM premiere in Sydney. Celebitchy had been knocking him for being a crybaby.Sorry so long.

He wants to act. He likes the work. It’s the acting part he loves. And why should he have to give that up, just because some photographers lack common decency and manners.

Benzodiazapines cause more deaths in N America than cancer. Theyare given out as sleeping pills and cause your body to fall apart slowly and are so addictive that many people get hooked after 2 wks. Yah Heath took anxiety, sleeping, pain pills for months but he was trying to get off them. Too late. It's sad he was so troubled but he's not evil or a junkie.

Heath had an addictive personality. Where one pill would be enough for one person, he needed several. Remember the NYT interview where he said he couldn't sleep so he took one Ambien and then woke up an hour later and took another Ambien, which didn't work either. Have any of you ever taken Ambien? Good god, even if you take a half, it hits you like a sledgehammer and you're out for quite a while. Prescription drugs are NOT evil--sorry they're not. People really do have extreme anxiety, depression, insomnia that needs to be alleviated and if you go to a REAL doctor (one doctor please) who can prescribe a course of treatment and make sure the meds won't interact negatively with each other (hopefully he'll only prescribe one), then the patient should be feeling better soon. And if the doctor is a good one, there will be follow-ups and a gradual weaning off the meds (never ever do it yourself) under a doctor's supervision.
But apparently, Heath didn't do that. He was reckless and desperate. He got meds from this doc, meds from that one, meds from this--were they real doctors or Dr Feelgoods (like Elvis' docs and MJ's doc)? Did he tell the other doctors what meds he was taking? If they were real doctors, they would have told him not to take certain meds together because they "interact badly" and are dangerous when used in a cocktail. Then there's the issue of where he got the oxycontin--very potent and dangerous painkiller. The DEA was investigating that--no doctors prescribed that for him so he clearly got it from one of his druggie friends (Mary-Kate?) or drug dealers.
Sorry prescription meds are NOT evil--my brother was on Xanax for two years following a very painful, acrimonious divorce. And it calmed him down and helped him enormously. (He's not on it anymore and--FYI, he was under medical supervision while he was taking it--he didn't shop for it on the Internet nor did he get it from druggie friends or Dr. Feelgoods). You're looking in delusion land if you think a lot of people out there (who are not celebs) are not taking meds for their anxiety/panic attacks, depression, etc. A LOT are but unlike Heath, that sad J & J heiress and other celebs and celeb hanger-ons, they're doing it in responsible way, not overdoing the dosages, adhering to their course of treatment and going to the doctor for follow-ups.
^^IA 8:20 AM. I suffered from depression a few years ago and I was in therapy and used prescipted meds, but I stopped when I felt better. Thank God I didn't get addicted to them.
