"On April 16, 21-year-old Azariah Southworth, the host of a Christian music television show called The Remix, came out publicly as a gay man to the Nashville-based gay publication Out & About. Since his brave decision, Southworth has seen a groundswell of support from the gay press and gay fans, and silence from the networks carrying his show, Christian media, and his show's fanbase.
AE: Was there a straw that broke the camel’s back? What made you decide to actually go forward and come out publicly?
AS: Well, it’s been a long time coming, as I said. I went through some things this past year and did a lot of research about what the Bible really says about homosexuality and did a lot of prayer, and I finally came to the conclusion that, you know what? This is okay. For me, this is okay. And I became confident in that and confident in who I am.
I knew the risk I was taking, but I found that it was going to be better to live my life authentically and honestly rather to continue to do what I was doing, building a career and suppressing feelings and being in denial. Because careers will always end, but who I am as a person goes further beyond that and the legacy that I want to leave is not one of denial and suppressing anything. I want to be honest and authentic with people.
AE: If you have any words of advice to any folks out there, young people or Christians who are struggling with their sexuality, or anyone else, what advice would you give them?
AS: That you’re not alone. You’re not abandoned. That God loves you unconditionally and that means that he loves you without any requirements. He doesn’t need you to meet any requirements or standards. That he loves you as you are and for who you are, right now. Reach out to someone that you can trust and that you feel will listen to you. You are loved. I mean, that’s the main point that I want to make to people, to let them know that they are loved and accepted, and I hope that they find that.

Dear Ted:
Got to ask…is Toothy Tile the obnoxious Spencer Pratt? Not that I think he, Heidi, Lauren and the group are actors by any means, but he and Heidi sure seem to be putting on an "act" with all the lovey-dovey fake photo moments. Seems like they have the perfect fake relationship. Also, what's up with Audrina? Every picture that girl takes has her eyes rolling up into her head...gross!

Dear Hills Headache:
There’s nothing we know (or care) less about than the intricacies of the epic melodrama that is The Hills, except, perhaps, what goes on—or not—in Hugh Hefner's boudoir. That said, one thing we know for certain is that Spencer is no Toothy, nor will he ever be.
Dear Ted:
Does Toothy's girlfriend know he's fond of boys, too?

"It's not about Reese's redneck public - it's about being seen as straight."
What's the difference?
Moviegoers expect leading actors to be straight. Same is true for the most important audience group - teenage boys and young men (who certainly don't care about Reese).
It's not surprising then that The Informers is the next book in Ellis's back catalog to be given the Hollywood film treatment. ... While the author has remained largely disconnected from previous film adaptations, he's served as a screenwriter here to help bring one of his most seemingly un-filmable books to the big screen.
Someone said that Austin's sex scene with a guy wasn't in the book. I hope that Ellis did make that change in the script. BTW, Ellis is gay.
Ellis
He was known to be bisexual for most of his life but in August 2005 he broke his silence about his sexual orientation and told The New York Times that his best friend and lover for six years, Michael Wade Kaplan, died in January 2004, at the age of 30. His 2005 novel Lunar Park, was dedicated to Michael Wade Kaplan.
You know what takes minimum effort but makes you look ten times more immature than you claim Jake to be is making fun of him even though you don't know him. I think a lot less of you all as people for it. So while you pat yourselves on the back for being better and more mature you sure don't come off that way.

Bret Easton Ellis Adaptation The Informers Loses Entire Vampire Sub-Plot with Brandon Routh?
Compared to most authors, onetime New York it-boy Bret Easton Ellis’s works have had a pretty good translation record at the cinema. American Psycho, The Rules of Attraction and Less Than Zero were all pretty faithful, quality adaptations that kept Ellis’s sensational penchant for drugs, kinky sex and sociopathic detachment intact. A tall order these days. Next in line is this fall’s The Informers. Not only did Ellis co-write the screenplay for his 1995 interlocked collection of twisted tales set in the ’80s, but the film easily has the coolest cast of any Ellis flick: Mickey Rourke, Kim Basinger, Winona Ryder, Billy Bob Thornton, Pineapple Express‘ Amber Heard and Brad Renfro’s last theatrical role.
Well, now it seems that the key element that made The Informers stand out from its darkly hedonistic pack, a good dose of the supernatural, including a vampire storyline starring Superman Returns‘ Brandon Routh as the book’s main vampire, Jamie, has either been “exorcised” or dumped altogether. Odd. Actor John Graham, who has a rather large role as the son to Thornton’s Hollywood exec, expressed dissonance about the film’s seemingly last minute change to IGN…
“There are no more vampires. They took the vampires out. There are no zombies or monsters either,” he announces. “This is more about the narcissistic side of people’s characters. God knows why they took the vampire characters out. I can’t say if I was pleased or displeased, that is just the way it is.”
Sounds as if Routh is no longer in the film, eh? If so, that’s a pretty big blow for him, as it would have given the All-American actor a dose of indie cred. There’s speculation that Ellis himself made the decision to ditch the fanged murderers from the film version due to criticism the book’s subplot received originally. Ho-hum. Fans will be bummed. Has to be more to it than that though, right? Perhaps director Gregor Jordan (Buffalo Soldiers, Ned Kelly) wasn’t digging the footage? If anyone has a contact or, cough, informant on this film, let us know.
Ellis is really starting to dive into Hollywood, with an adaptation of his batshit semi-autobiographical Lunar Park due in 2009, along with The Frog King, another writer-obsessed flick starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt that he wrote an original screenplay for. Also kicking around is Roger Avary’s third (yes, third) adaptation Glamorama, which would follow The Rules of Attraction and its obscure, never released, mysterious spin-off film Glitterati starring Kip Pardue.

You know what takes minimum effort but makes you look ten times more immature than you claim Jake to be is making fun of him even though you don't know him.
But we do know Jake :)
Yes, gay is okay but I am sure you (and I) don't know anything about Jake. Making fun and insulting him isn't going to change that.
We don't know Jake but we know a few things about him.
Some of them are not something to be proud of.
ECO-FRIENDLY STAR GETS NO LOVE FROM PEEING POOCH
FITSNews - April 23, 2008 - When we last checked in with actress Natalie Portman, she was feeling a titty bit nipply with U.S. presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. Now, she’s getting peed on by a dog, which is sort of a step up.
The 26-year old Israeli-American, who was recently rated the most eco-friendly Hollywood celebrity, was walking her dog in Manhattan Monday when the “surprise soaking” occured. From the New York Post:
While she was getting a pup’s-eye view of the surroundings from ground level, another stroller’s frisky pet raised its hind leg, relieved itself right on her shoes - and then ambled on its way.
Portman, who has appeared with her pooch on fellow dog-lover David Letterman’s TV show, took the incident with good humor.
Good for her. It’s a rare woman who can get peed on and laugh about it. Seriously, if this sort of thing happened to Paris Hilton or Lindsay Lohan, the chances that they would “take the incident with good humor” are roughly the same as the Cubs winning the World Series within the next 3,000 years.
Oh, and God forbid this dog ever pee on Jake Gyllenhaal …

This Reese thing is so ridiculous! Jake makes a fool of himself. Whether she's his beard or girlfriend doesn't matter, in both cases the hook up was a mistake.
If he's straight or bi, he should have found someone much less known. When you hook up with Reese Witherspoon = plenty of attention. But maybe he likes that?
If he's gay then there are certainly better and less known beards around.
I just want people to hear about him when a movie with him comes out, hopefully mostly good movies, like with Johnny Depp. Now he and Reese are regularly featured in rags. I hate it! He doesn't need this!
If he's gay then there are certainly better and less known beards around.
Reese isn't just any beard. She needed someone to make her look good after Ryan dumped her - Reeke PR compaign started in November 2006, few weeks after she filed for divorce. Same PR, Rendition, gay rumors - perfect job for Jake!
Malinda Williams Joins Tracy Morgan And Jessica Biel In 'Nailed'
Fresh from being featured in David Talbert's First Sunday with Tracy Morgan and Ice Cube, Soul Food's Malinda Williams will be working with Morgan again as she just signed on to 'David O. Russell's romantic comedy 'Nailed,', which stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessical Biel.
In the film, Biel's character Alice is a naive waitress who gets a nail shot into her head, causing erratic and outrageous behavior. She heads to Washington to fight for better health care and ends up falling for a clueless new congressman (Gyllenhaal) who must summon the political courage to save her.
Malinda's character joins Jessica Biel and Morgan's characters on a march to Washington, DC to persuade Congress to pass new healthcare reforms.
Also featured in the film are James Marsden and Catherine Keener. Morgan will play a an injured compatriot of Alice's who has given up on love.
Malinda Williams Joins Nailed
Now he and Reese are regularly featured in rags. I hate it! He doesn't need this!
Reese needs it very much! Tabloid readers are her public and Avon cosmetics buyers.
Jake needs it more and you must be 12 ywars old if you thik the opposite. She doesn'r need him to pimp Avon, she is quite capable of doing that solo, just like any celebrity endorsements, when his sister was pimping underwear and sneakers, she wasn't pimping Peter.
He needs her to straighten out his image and to get HW contacts, his parents are headed for divorce and are washed up in HW, thak God for real estate or they would be broke.
There you go, the real reason for Jake and Reese and why he is up her twat 24/7 and wants toplay daddy to her kids.
Jake needs it more and you must be 12 ywars old if you thik the opposite. She doesn'r need him to pimp Avon, she is quite capable of doing that solo ...
LOL!
Reese did everything in her power to replace "cheated and dumped wife" with "pursued by younger man" image.
There are tons of tabloid (PR) articles to support that claim.
He needs her to straighten out his image and to get HW contacts, his parents are headed for divorce and are washed up in HW ...
Don't be silly.
Jake love his parents but he isn't 7 years old. He's a Hollywood cild - he probably has more HW contacts then Reese.
... a Hollywood child ...
Funny how she nor he has actually sat down to an actual interview. That's her doing, silence=mytery to those 2 tools.
The cheated angle is because she is more popular/well known, makes more $$$ won an AA and being a single woman, they are pimping that angle, Jake is none of those things, he needs her contacts and she is introducing him to lots of $$$ inside and outside of HW, he is beyond grateful believe me.
Her upcoming Avon commercials/PR will be sans Jake as it should be, just like Maggie pimping sneakers and undies sans Peter.
The poor Jakey being forced to beard is tired, old and false.
... he needs her contacts and she is introducing him to lots of $$$ inside and outside of HW, he is beyond grateful believe me
Bullshit.
After all those flops and divorce Reese needs good PR, she needs it badly.
Reese is such a pathetic PR whore!
In 2006 she lied about getting 29 mil $ for her next movie - "to become the highest paid actress of all time".
Jake has flops as well and he needs it badly as well, so in fact they both need each other, so in fact it will work out in the end. People in HW use each other all the time, what I find amusing with you Jake fangirls is that you all think he's blameless in this, it takes 2 and he is more than willing.
Let's face it, nailed sounds like crap and Biel is the star, Reese's next movie is with VV and she is co-producer, the movie is the type that will make $$ despite reviews and she is smart enough to coproduce which menas $$$$ for her.
Jake is not too smart, no wonder he is up her twat.
Jake likes the arrangement.
Jake is a PR whore and a lair as well so they make a perfect couple.
You can spin all you want, but nothing you can say can change the fact that nobody forced Jake to go to Cabo, hang out at her place in brentwood 24/7, hang with her kids, etc and you know it.
Jake is not too smart, no wonder he is up her twat.
Jake likes the arrangement.
Don't count on that trolly!
Do try to get your head out of Reese's ass! LOL!
6:45 PM
Trolly, don't bother!
Babblers are waiting for you! LOL!
Let's face it, nailed sounds like crap and Biel is the star"
I agree with you there. Does Jake ONLY get offered crap? Where are the quality scripts?
Original Brothers script was great.
Nailed script could be crap, but we didn't read the script and we didn't read any script reviews.
Catherine Keener, James Marsden and Tracey Morgan Get 'Nailed'
This is one of those movies that has a premise so incredibly bizarre, yet has cast so strong, that I figure there is some promise I am simply not seeing. David O. Russell's romantic comedy Nailed already stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Biel, and The Hollywood Reporter says that the film has now added Catherine Keener, James Marsden and Tracy Morgan to the cast.
The plot follows a naive waitress, Alice, who is shot in the head with a nail. The injury causes her behavior to be erratic and outrageous (the IMDb says it causes her to become a sexually adventurous bombshell), and she heads to Washington to campaign on behalf of better health care for the freakishly injured. She ends up falling for a young and clueless new congressman, who must summon up his political courage to save her. Biel plays the waitress, Gyllenhaal the congressman. Keener will be playing a self-serving congresswoman, and Marsden the small-town boyfriend of Alice. Hopefully he's not the one who shot her with a nail. Morgan's character has yet to be decided.
Like I said, there is probably something I am not seeing. The script is penned by Russell and Kristen Gore, so the charm must lie there. But is the waitress' naivete the reason she was shot in the head? Or is she naive because she thinks her insurance will cover the cost of her injury? And must James Marsden lose a girl not only to Wolverine, to Superman and to Patrick Dempsey, but to Congressman Jake Gyllenhaal too?
To be fair, I'm willing to give Mr. Russell a fair shot after the surprisingly unique Three Kings -- although people still keep dissuading me from seeing I Heart Huckabees.

Reese's PR team LOVES people like you!
Jake and Reese are both in this 50/50. both their careers are not what they would like it to be. Both are publicity whores. They remind me of companies who advertise like crazy just before they crash!!
can't be 7.41 coa I HATE reese! just saying Jake is no saint....
coa = cos!
Why would Reese spend so much time with a man who doesn't satisfy her sexually? If she has another guy to do that, we'd hear rumors about it or Ted would have told us.
And Jake? Isn't Toothy insatibale sexually? With whom does he sleep with?
Is he still with Austin? Why no updates from Ted?
I think Jake is bi and him and Reese are together. I think they're a good match, both are pretentious and they'll become even more pretentious if their upcoming films are hits!
I might be wrong though!
That's right 8.29, you are wrong. lol!
Brothers won't be a hit. I bet the critics are going to pan it big-time because of the inferior acting. Reese's film will do pretty well because it's about Christmas so it has a built-in audience. Jake loves being the center of attention so he won't be happy when his movie disappears from sight while Reese is basking in the limelight. The fauxmance honeymoon will come to end at that point and the fauxmance should end soon after.
I might be wrong though!
You are wrong.
Ted said that Jake and Reese are not together, that TT has a beard and someone to go home to.
That's right 8.29, you are wrong. lol!
Perhaps you can tell me your theorie about the questions I raised in the first part of my post?
"Isn't Toothy insatibale sexually?"
huh? where did you get that from??
"Is he still with Austin? Why no updates from Ted?"
Hasn't Ted referred to TT's concealed domestic life and said GG is in for the ride? Do you want Ted to keep reassuring you every week?!
With whom does he sleep with?
Same boy(s) he slept with before Phonyspoon.
8:41 PM who is "GG"?
8:51 PM, you should read WFT posts / comments.
GG = Gray Goose (Austin)
GG = Gray Goose (Austin)

I think a lot less of you all as people for it.
LMAO!! We're all crying our eyes out now, I'm sure. Go back to gyllenbabble, troll.
Why would Reese spend so much time with a man who doesn't satisfy her sexually?
Gross. Reese Witherspoon and sex should never be spoken about in the same sentence!
:And must James Marsden lose a girl not only to Wolverine, to Superman and to Patrick Dempsey, but to Congressman Jake Gyllenhaal too?"
And Ryan Gosling in The Notebook. I don't get why James Marsden is always the guy who loses the girl in films. I'd choose him over all those guys. He's gorgeous!
"his parents are headed for divorce"
Is this true?
12.40 LOL!
12.49 so true...
12.53 If Cantara's ramblings in her blog are true and you go by the rumors on the internet, yeah, it's true!
Speaking of Cantara, in her facebook page, she refers to her relationship status as "complicated" and under favorite films writes, "anything directed by my beloved Stephen Gyllenhaal." She makes me barf.

Gross. Reese Witherspoon and sex should never be spoken about in the same sentence!
ITA.
Some people are just playing stupid and "forget" how she spent years in a bad marriage with a husband looking for and having sex outside marriage.
I don't get why James Marsden is always the guy who loses the girl in films.
Wow, that's quite a number of lost girls for James Marsden. "Can't keep the girl" typecast!

Jake and Stephen
Interview with Cantara, discussed on April Fools Day:
D: You show a deeply personal admiration for the man. Is “fascination” an appropriate term? Regardless, this is lovely evidence of your multidimensional approach to art and artists.
Cantara: Stephen has many admirable qualities; he’s loyal, trustworthy and generous, a devoted family man and, incredibly for someone whose livelihood has been at the mercy of the Hollywood system for nearly thirty years, free of cynicism. He’s also stimulating to be around – young people are inspired by him, men are intrigued and women tend to go all gooey. I think this is because he exudes that spirit of Eros I mentioned earlier, that generative, creative force an artist is especially steeped in when he’s at the beginning of a project. In this case Stephen’s project is his own life. When his son Jake declares in an interview, “I know a man in his fifties who’s just starting to discover himself,” he’s talking about Stephen. As I say this can be very stimulating to be around but, on the down side, my dear author’s creative cauldron is almost always overflowing and, like other immensely creative people, he has trouble focusing on a single project and seeing it through to completion. A lot of this can be attributed to the business he’s in. Although he’s a mesmerizing pitcher, Hollywood hasn’t always been persuaded to let him deliver his own brand of product. To stay in the game he’s had to, as they say, keep his options open.
However, this past year or so Stephen has spoken publicly about his desire to spend his creative capital elsewhere rather than in the Hollywood system. And, in fact, quite recently he’s made some daring moves to simplify his life, to clear the decks and fully commit to work he believes in. He has not, however, completely rid himself of the influence of the business – in order to maximize its commercial potential he’ll readily simplify a wonderfully intricate, individualistic, heartfelt, well-written piece of prose – even if it’s his own. This frustrates me to no end. It’s like watching a Chippendale being whittled down into an Ikea chair. We’ve already had quite a few heated discussions (with the heat coming from me) on this subject. But I admire Stephen greatly because the artists’ dialectic, the age-old argument of material satisfaction versus the spiritual satisfaction gained from creating your art, is very much on the surface with him.
Sometimes his struggle ascends to a cosmic performance piece and that’s where it gets fascinating. Here, for example, is the real story behind that mostly improvised anecdote Jake told on Letterman: In a devastating freak fire at a vacation lodge not too long ago, Stephen had to make a split-second decision on which to rescue, his twenty thousand-dollar Rolex or the laptop containing the only copy of the manuscript of his first novel. He chose the laptop. When he does things like that I forget that I ever wanted to strangle the big lug, and fall in love with him all over again.
...
Q: Are you actually an ex-porn star?
Cantara: That is an exaggeration. I only played featured roles in full-lengths. I did dozens of loops (short films), though, in which a cast of two was sufficient. Actually I did make several Swedish Eroticas in which I was the draw, so I guess yes, I was a porn star back in the late 1970s. My screen name was Simona Wing.

Gay Rappers: Don't Fear This Book
"Who's the gay rapper?" It's been a parlor game in hip hop for years. A short and incomplete list of some of the most common names tossed around: Kanye West, Puffy, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Common, and, of course, lisping, yoga-master rap mogul Russell Simmons. While there are plenty of rumors for each one, most of those guys are suspected, honestly, because of their fashion sense (except Lil Wayne, who kissed a guy). Or because somebody's homeboy's cousin knows this cat who Puffy tried to do a three-way with. Innuendo is king. But now a formerly closeted gay MTV music executive named Terrance Dean is about to release a book—which has been anticipated for more than a year—that he says will out the gay rappers once and for all. Don't be mad, y'all! This could be the chance of a lifetime for one lucky closeted homosexual.
A riveting memoir, Hiding In Hip Hop, uncovers a hidden and well-known unspoken secret. Deep within the confines of Hip-Hop is a prominent gay sub-culture. A world that industry insiders are keenly aware of, but choose to ignore. From the testosterone of men striving to be on top and in control, to the "by any means necessary" bravado in an industry that thrives on power, homosexuality is a reality at nearly every level of Hip-Hop.
What's really surprising is that hip hop has managed to keep the identities of its gay people officially secret for this long. Rap has been big business and big money for a long time, but unlike in Hollywood—where gossip hounds have essentially uncovered the gay celebrities, who are then allowed to go about their business—the rap industry still feels that being openly gay could jeopardize an artist's career for good. Tom Cruise hasn't lost work because of the gay rumors surrounding him; Jay-Z surely would. It's a barrier that everyone remains afraid to cross. A rapper who started out as openly gay could theoretically make a career in hip hop, but it would not be a mainstream one. Even today, fostering the twin images of sex lord and crime lord are the most reliable way that MCs propel themselves into superstardom. Though this is changing (see Kanye), it's a long way from changed.
So when Hiding In Hip Hop comes out on May 13—assuming that it does out some identifiable figures in hip hop, and that it is reliable—the fallout will be fascinating to watch. I would expect immediate denials, and private reprisals from anyone named. But the real gay rappers, whoever they are, would be wise to stand up and be counted for the first time. They would go down in history for something much bigger than mediocre album sales. And the marketing opportunities would be enough to relaunch a flagging career, albeit in a slightly more bohemian arena.
If Del tha Funkee Homosapien came out as gay, no one would care. If a hardcore rapper like, say, Fat Joe came out, people would be surprised. But if one of the usual suspects like Kanye or Puffy came out, they would be positioned to use their already-deep resources to continue their careers as trailblazers. So a bit of advice to whoever may be named in the book (assuming it's true): Don't be the mad rapper. When you're dead and gone, one small step you took towards toning down the homophobia in hip hop would be worth much more than your music. And if you are Puffy, your music always sucked anyways. So go for it!
(And if anyone happens to get their hands on the book before May 13, email us.)

Ellen Page Lesbianism Update: Why The Fuss?
My column this week goes into yet more sexuality talk about Juno star Ellen Page, so I’m bracing myself for the usual rounds of “How dare you?” and “Who cares?” In defense, let me once again get out the same rationales that I dug up when outing Methuselah and tell you why this sort of thing is OK. OK?
Firstly, a celebrity is a public figure whose life is regularly dissected by the media. By pursuing this high-profile profession and becoming a boldface name in the process, they’ve implicitly agreed to this kind of scrutiny (within the law and reason). I always find it amusing that no one ever complains when straight stuff comes out about them—you never hear, “How dare you say that male actor is dating that female actor? This is an outrageous invasion of privacy!” It’s only when the gay word comes up that people suddenly decide gossip is vulgar and irrelevant. But I personally feel that to gossip about every aspect of celebs’ lives EXCEPT the gay stuff is homophobic, hypocritical, and downright silly.
“But it hurts careers!” comes the inevitable response from the outraged. Well, I didn’t MAKE these people gay, I’m just saying they are. It’s up to them to come out or not, but it’s not up to ME to shut up about it. I’m not going to make homosexuality off limits because I might be tapping into the ethical failures of some bigots out there by speaking the truth. I don’t find homosexuality—or hints of it—distasteful at all and I’m not going to cater to those who do by shutting my trap on the subject. And if I should never say anything that might hurt a career, then maybe I should make a point of writing that Will Smith is white, Mel Brooks is young, and Norbit was a really good movie.
What’s more, Ellen Page—who may or may not be gay—is clearly playing along with all the speculation. She’s MAKING people talk by not giving definitive answers about her sexuality. She even did a sketch on Saturday Night Live that seemed to feed right into all the chit chat. By refusing to squawk, “How dare you! I am NOT a lesbian,” she’s letting us think that this kind of talk isn’t appalling to her at all. Even when her publicist called me, she never said, “She’s not a lesbian,” just “That was me with her at the Oscars” (though I hung up on her, so who knows what else she was going to say).
There’s even someone who’s gone on a lot of sites and shrieked that she knows who Ellen’s girlfriend is, even including the girlfriend’s supposed phone number. THAT’S going too far. I just need her address so I can send a wedding gift.
http://blogs.villagevoice.com/dailymusto/archives/2008/04/ellen_page_lesb_1.php
The hip hop book looks to be intriguing, not to much longer to wait to see if the MTV exec outs any singer. Thanks for the info, and musto's blog about Page is spot on. Page seems to be another of the keep em guessing variety as is Jake, almost identical. Musto makes very good points though in his argument for the need for celebrities to be more truthful in this regard.
Michael Musto about Ellen Page - interesting blog comment:
"Also, though gossip goes hand-in-hand with celebrity these days, don't you think that the amount of attention a celebrity receives (meaning that which is not based on their actual work, but rather their personal life) should be comparable to the amount of attention they seek from the media outside of their professional appearances?
Page is no Lohan or Hilton-- she has not been seen at any celebrity hot spot clubs/restaurants or drunkenly rambling. Obviously, the attention that comes along with acting is unavoidable these days, but those who aren't playing into it shouldn't have their personal lives continuously under attack."
Stephen had to make a split-second decision on which to rescue, his twenty thousand-dollar Rolex or the laptop containing the only copy of the manuscript of his first novel.
This is hilarious. Sophie's Choice has nothing on this.
Rolex...First Novel...Rolex...First Novel...Rol-
Poor Jake-Dad. Who needs enemies with friends like Cantara.
^^^ LOL!
I don't get why James Marsden is always the guy who loses the girl in films. I'd choose him over all those guys.
"While many of us eagerly await the first on-screen sex scene to star James Marsden, the actor himself is dreading it.
The X-men hunk tells British Magazine Closer: "It's so embarrassing with everyone watching you. It's the opposite of romantic. I already feel like the crew are judging me, so imagine doing a sex scene." Marsden continued, "They'd be thinking: 'Ooh, is that how he does it in real life?' Awful! I don't know how I'd react if I was offered a part with a sex scene. My wife would tell me to do it, though. She wants people to see that I'm sexy."
We like her. She sounds like a smart woman. Now if only we can get his wife to convince him to consider exposing some serious flesh in said sex scene, we'll be all set."

People magazine has preportedly written about how a co worker/actor on the movie Brothers belives Jake really loves Reese. That everytime she would show up on set he would be so loving and happy or some crap like that. Read it in a norwegian magazine not long ago. People magazine is really sponsoring project Reeke.

Reinventing The Joker
When you think of Batman’s enemies, one of the first that comes to mind is the Joker. The reason is because of Jack Nicholson’s portrayal of him in Tim Burton’s 1989 film Batman. Nicholson received great reviews for his acting in what many critics and moviegoers referred to as “over the top” and “absolutely crazy.” Word around Hollywood is that Heath Ledger’s new Clown Prince takes “over the top” to a whole new level. A level that Sir Michael Caine calls “terrifying.” Ledger plays the Joker, an enemy of Christian Bale’s Batman in July’s The Dark Knight (the sequel to Batman Begins).
The casting of Ledger shocked many fans and critics because of his previous films, such as Brokeback Mountain, Casanova, Brothers Grimm, I’m Not There, 10 Things I Hate About You, and The Patriot. Director Christopher Nolan (Batman Begins, The Prestige) chose Ledger to wear the make-up, and the outcome has stunned all those who have witnessed Heath reinvent the greatest comic book villain of all time.
In a December interview with Empire Magazine, who debuted the first official Joker picture, Ledger confessed about the pressure of creating this beloved villian.
“I definitely feared it. Although anything that makes me afraid I guess excites me at the same time. I don’t know if I was fearless, but I certainly had to put on a brave face and believe that I have something up my sleeve. Something different…”
Ledger’s Joker is a cruel, cold blooded, mass-murdering psychotic character, compared to Nicholson’s, which was tipsy and loony. Ledger described to Empire Magazine the mindset that he had to develop to perfect this role.
“It’s a combination of reading all the comic books I could that were relevant to the script and then just closing my eyes and meditating on it. I sat around in a hotel room in London for about a month, locked myself away, formed a little diary and experimented with voices - it was important to try to find a somewhat iconic voice and laugh. I ended up landing more in the realm of a psychopath - someone with very little to no conscience towards his acts. He’s just an absolute sociopath, a coldblooded, mass-murdering clown, and Chris has given me free rein. Which is fun, because there are no real boundaries to what The Joker would say or do. Nothing intimidates him, and everything is a big joke.”
The Dark Knight hits theaters July 18, 2008.

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but what prompted the Jake's producer says that he and Reese are so devotedly in love stories? They just came out of the blue. Interesting that they sprout around Austin's b-day.
" ...Gyllenhaal's producer pal Ryan Kavanaugh told PEOPLE at the 23rd Annual "Salute to Youth" dinner in Los Angeles on Thursday"
People Magazine reporter asked him and he was nice enough to provide the answer they were expecting (if you believe People Magazine).
Reese will be in Washington DC May 3rd or 4th for the Avon Walk thing. She will probably drop by and visit her devoted boyfriend for a photo or two at some point during that trip.
This weekend we just got the "so in love" story.
These two make me barf.
Or maybe Jake will join her for the walk. He seems like such a wuss to me now. Not sure what I ever saw in him.
^ I doubt it. They're a private, non-PR whore couple, remember??
Oh, except for the part where they arrange pap shots and plant stories in the tabloids.
This Cantara chick sounds off her rocker! Is she actually with Stephen Gyllenhaal or is it all a fantasy? 0_0
Is Jake still friends with Austin?
12.23 LOL!!
"Is Jake still friends with Austin?"
I think he is, but I like to hope they are not friends as Austin deserves much better!
Ted Casablanca is getting married!
Don't Get Over It
It’s Monday. You’re pissy; we’re less so (I’m getting married in less than a week, and Becky’s gonna be free of my pushy ass for a whole two, woo-friggin’-hoo!). But hell, let’s get to it, already: the Pissed List!
Ted - It’s Monday
Bashoff, Elbrick, Thorell and Keating Set for Reading of Donnie Darko
Spring Awakening's Blake Bashoff will play the title role in a by-invitation-only reading of Donnie Darko, a new play based on the 2001 cult film of the same name that featured Jake Gyllenhaal, Drew Barrymore and Patrick Swayze.
Marcus Stern, the associate director of Massachusetts' American Repertory Theatre, has adapted the film for the stage and will direct the May 5 reading at the Mint Theatre on West 43rd Street.
In addition to Bashoff, the cast will also feature Linda Mugleston as Rose Darko, Blake Hammond as Eddie Darko, Maura Malloy as Elizabeth Darko, Carolyn McCandlish as Samantha Darko, Aya Cash as Gretchen Ross, Melissa Dye as Dr. Lillian Thurman, Xanthe Elbrick as Karen Pomeroy, Isabel Keating as Kitty Farmer, Joel Van Liew as Principal Cole, Clarke Thorell as Jim Cunningham, Eric Schneider as Seth Devlin, Lauren Roth as Cherita Chen, Curt Hansen as Rabbit/Frank and Jaqui Polk as Joanie. Seth Slar-Heyn will read the stage directions.
Donnie Darko, according to press notes, "is a mind-bending work of comedy, drama and science fiction with a rollercoaster plot that leaps from metaphysics to sociological warfare to teenage angst to family values." The plot concerns Donnie Darko, "a charming but troubled teenager, [who] faces a life-threatening experience that leads him to question everything he knows – and so begins one of the strangest, hilarious and most haunting stories ever told. During his journey, Donnie challenges the hypocrisy of his school and community. He baffles his parents and teachers with his odd, yet brilliant insights, and he falls in love for the first time with the girl of his dreams. The stakes could not be higher. Will he save the world or face his own demise?"
Donnie Darko was presented at A.R.T. in October 2007. The cast of local actors included A.R.T. company members Remo Airaldi (as Principal Cole), Thomas Derrah (Jim Cunningham), Will LeBow (Eddie Darko) and Karen MacDonald (Kitty Farmer) as well as Dan McCabe (Donnie), Flora Diaz (Gretchen Ross), Paula Langton (Rose Darko), Carolyn McCandish (Samantha Darko) and Mara Sidmore (Dr. Thurman).
Richard Kelly penned the original "Donnie Darko" screenplay.
Bashoff, who played a recurring role on ABC's "Lost," has also been seen on the television series "Judging Amy," "Numb3rs," "Without a Trace" and "One Tree Hill." His film credits include "Bushwhacked," "Big Bully," HBO's "A Child Betrayed: The Calvin Mire Story" and "The New Swiss Family Robinson." Bashoff is currently making his Broadway debut in Spring Awakening.

Ted Casablanca To Be Made Honest Woman
Big News in Gayville. And when we say “big,” we mean “a sort-of-famous E! network staple homo-journo plans on getting hitched”. No, not Steve Kmetko. No, not Mark Malkin. No, not even Ryan Seacrest. Give up? Ted Casablanca! (As if the headline didn’t tip you off.)
That’s right, everyone’s favorite toothy yet handsome columnist has accepted soon-to-be hubbie Jon Powell’s proposal. Or, at least, that’s what Defamer heard from Stony_Curtis who heard it from Casablanca’s The Awful Truth:
Which brings me to why I feel like Ms. Hilton today—kinda/sorta/maybe just a li’l. All legal and loony, really. See, my partner, whose name is Jon Powell, got all rather Paris Latsis when we were on a deserted Hawaiian beach.
Mind you, J. didn’t have a huge-butt rock with him, but, he did do something that’s often accompanied with such brilliant specimens: He proposed. And I do mean marriage… [And] I said yes.
So, get ready, Ah-nuld, you homo-bashing big-hair. Since the California legislature approved gay marriage, only to be vetoed by your fruit-served self (I mean, do you all know how many gays have serviced Schwarzenegger’s girlie coiffure alone?), I suspect my attention to your sorry and sagging behind will only increase during my engagement.
‘Cause a gossip columnist can’t live by love alone.
How romantic: a beach, a comparison to Paris Hilton and a threat to highlight a Governor’s political shortcomings. Mr. Casablanca truly is in love.

Wow!
Congratulations Ted and Jon!

NYT Looks at the Young Gay Newlywed Game
The New York Times published a major Sunday magazine piece on the new crop of young, 20-something gay newlyweds that Massachusetts' marriage laws have spawned. Here's a bit of it:
"Most of the couples insisted they shared those responsibilities in 'an egalitarian way.' While Joshua occasionally referred to himself as a 'gay housewife,' other young gay married men bristled at the notion that they would fashion their domestic lives around heterosexual stereotypes.
"'It never ceases to amaze me how many people will say to us, ‘So, who’s the woman, and who’s the man, in your marriage?’' says Jason Shumaker, who lives in a Boston suburb with his husband, Paul McLoughlin II, who is an assistant dean at Harvard. They met eight years ago when they were 25, and they legally married at 29 (registering to wed on the first day gay couples could do so in Massachusetts). 'I just think that’s the dumbest question ever,' he added. 'Yes, we’re married, but we’re also two guys, so neither one of us has to be ‘the woman.’' (And 'with no ovaries drying up,' as Paul put it, they don’t need to rush into having children. They plan to adopt in the next five years, once Paul finishes his Ph.D. in higher-education administration at Boston College.)
"During a break from opening the door to trick-or-treaters at their home last Halloween, Jason and Paul — who wore matching lizard outfits — told me about the T-shirts they’d donned at the end of their reception. The front of Paul’s shirt read, 'I Am the Husband,' while the back read, 'I Am the Wife.' (Jason’s shirt had the opposite emblazoned on each side.) 'It was fun to make a little bit of a social statement and poke fun at the idea that we would fit neatly into these heterosexual roles,' Jason said."
I think just about anyone who has been in a gay relationship has experienced the curiosity of straight friends as to 'who's the husband, who's the wife?' As for the 50's photos of domestic bliss, I've yet to come across anything that idyllic among any couples I know. But it's not a bad thing to dream.

No more Gatecrasher?
Ben Widdicombe Will Gossip No More
No, The New York Daily News' Aussie gossip maven Ben Widdicombe isn't dead. But the celebrity-party-booze beat is dead to him. After a recent vacation in his native land of 'roos and convicts, Widdicombe has decided to start enjoying life again. His farewell Gatecrasher column will run tomorrow, but he was good enough to share his feelings with us in advance.
"I have been a gossip columnist for all my 10 years in New York—first with the online fashion column 'Chic Happens,' and six years full-time with the Daily News. But for a writer New York is like a fairground, and I think it’s time to go on some of the other rides. Also lately I’ve developed a peculiar attitude towards scandal—with some of the items that have crossed my desk I’ve thought, 'This really isn’t any of my business.' Which is problematic for a professional gossip columnist.
"I approached Gatecrasher as essentially a humor column that happened to be about gossip. But now for me it’s time to Leave Britney Alone. Two weeks ago I went down to Palm Beach for Ivana Trump’s wedding, which was a hoot. Around midnight, as the reception was winding down, I found Kathy Hilton alone in a corridor. She was in front of a full-length mirror, holding her dress and dancing with her own reflection like a happy teenager. Something about that moment struck me as the perfect image to leave Gossip with."
Ben's retirement completes a circle. Every single New York City gossip columnist who started out around the same time as I did are all gone now, victims of the inevitable burn out. Well, all but one...

Gatecrasher
Monday, April 28th 2008, 4:00 AM
Oh no! After four years (which is 28 in liver years) Gatecrasher has crashed its last gate for the Daily News. I hope you've had as much fun reading the column as I have had writing it, but today I am leaving to pursue my ambition of becoming the world's first plus-size hand supermodel. Wish me luck!

Great, more liberal propaganda disguised as a movie!
"Nailed" stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Jessica Biel, James Marsden, Catherine Keener, Tracy Morgan and Olivia Crocicchia in the tale of a woman who gets a nail lodged in her head and travels to Washington to fight for better health care."
In other words...the heroine will be promoting socialized health care. The movie will make it look like a good idea.
Look, this is really getting ridiculous. Take the time to read the plot synopses for any given movie in the works, and it's got some liberal message in it.
I've noticed that liberals can't ever suceed in open debates, because their ideas don't make sense and wither quickly under questioning. Thus they need to promote their ideas in movies and TV shows, where they have total control over the script and can cast their ideas in the most positive light, and make them look hip and cool. Throw in a love story, a conservative villain, and the idea spreads as all liberal ideas do - through emotion and not logic.
T.R. Knight & Mark Cornelsen
T.R. Knight, 35, and his boyfriend, 19-year-old college student Mark Cornelsen, are still together.
The couple, who have been dating several months now, were seen walking hand-in-hand near the Los Feliz home of the Grey's Anatomy star this weekend.
It's been a while since we've done this, so we're excited. What should their new nickname be????? Leave your suggestion…after the jump!

Someone thinks Jake is a good guy.
"So...it was the Sunday when we moved the clocks ahead and I got out of bed thinking that it would be nice to see even less people at the Farmer's Market since everyone lost an hour of sleep. I had made all of my purchases and went to get my weekly sugar cane/cayenne detox juice but the guy said he had to make a new batch. They know I like it fresh so I didn't complain and decided to spend 20 minutes reading. I was just looking around and happened upon a hot dude with a great body and nice posture. I said to myself, "Wow. He looks like a young Paul Newman. Nice job, cupcake, you'll go far in this town." I went back to reading. But I looked up again and was like, wait a minute, that's Jake Gyllenhaal!
I'm not really into bum rushing stars unless they are star academics like Cornell West, but Brokeback does hold a special place in my heart. So I made a deal with myself; I'll get my detox juice and leave and if I happened upon Jake on my way out I'll say something to him. It was about 10 minutes later and Jake was gone from view. I got my juice and started on my way home when I noticed two women whispering about a guy further down in front of me. He was looking at sprouts. So I walked up beside him and looked at some spinach:
Me: "I don't want to make a big deal of this, but I just wanted to tell you that I love you and I think you're the best ever."
Jake: "Awww...thanks!"
Me: "God bless you."
Jake: "Thanks. Take care."
So then I went home. I was trying to convey to him positive energy given Heath Ledger's recent demise and as a gay fan say what I could without going into a lot of stuff. The thing that struck me was that he was a present and sincere person; the "awwww" was totally not condescending or sketchy. Very nice guy and combined with the good looks....I had to get home quickly and watch BBM in the privacy of my own home."

They look so cute together!
3:23, so many fans still seem to confuse Jake and Heath with Ennis and Jack.
The poor fan probably watched BBM a little too often.
I believe that many hard core fans are more devastated about Heath's/Ennis' passing than Jake tbh!
3:23, so many fans still seem to confuse Jake and Heath with Ennis and Jack.
Confuse?
They like them because of Ennis and Jack. Nothing wrong with that.
The anticipation for TDK seems to be huge. Did anyone else wonder if the movie and Heath's performance suck, Heath's only memorable performance will be Brokback. He'd be remembered as the gay cowboy who offed himself in real life.
3:35, who does that? I think most fans like Ennis and Jack simply for Ennis and Jack, the characters they are, and have no trouble separating that from the actors who played them. For me, it never entered my mind to think that Jake or Heath were gay in real life, lots of straight actors have played gay characters, and lots of gay actors in HW play straight characters, I am sure. I only started to wonder when I kept coming across the moniker of Toothy Tile, and wanted to know who, or what, the hell it was. :)
Did anyone else wonder if the movie and Heath's performance suck, Heath's only memorable performance will be Brokback.
From what we saw and heard it’s clear that Joker will be a very memorable performance.
Still, whatever happens with TDK I think fans and average moviegoers will prefer to remember him as Ennis.
I think just about anyone who has been in a gay relationship has experienced the curiosity of straight friends as to 'who's the husband, who's the wife?
I just find this offensive and ridiculously stupid. I realize the guy who wrote this article needs something to write about, but as a straight person, I have never wondered this, ever about gay men I know in relationships. It's ridiculous - I see them as two individual men, and as far as cooking and housework, someone has to do it! Neither are strictly "feminine" activities. I know where this crap comes from too, a statement made sometime years ago, taken out of context by a layperson, and converted to pop, dime-store psychology, and may or may not have become part of societal discourse - but I don't know anyone who has ever said it, nor would have the gall to say it even if they did believe it.
It also is sexist, because the implication is anything female, or "feminine energy" is somehow lesser than male or "masculine energy", when in fact they are what they are, equal yet complementary forces, and I believe everyone has both to varying degrees.
A lot of straight people have a problem with homosexuality and masculinity - for them homosexuality is a negation of masculinity; they expect gay men to be effeminate. I believe that's one of the reasons why lesbians are more easily accepted compared to gay men.
That lesbians are more easily accepted than gay men is another myth. I am in a lesbian relationship, and I have gotten all teh same guff and homophobia as any gay male friend - combined with a prurient and unwelcome interest in my sex life. Straight men's weird lesbian fantasies do not equal acceptance.
^^I don't doubt it, Anon. 7:19 - the same ridiculous assumptions in reverse.
A lot of straight people have a problem with homosexuality.
And a lot of them don't. I think the people who hurl these unfair generalizations at others say more about their own predjudices than those they accuse. There are plenty of deserving homophobes to attack, instead of straight people who are on your side. Go after them.
Update from Ted: It's not George Eads.
Dear Ted:
I'm terrible at Blind Vices; I never even try to figure them out. But I've finally been tempted to take a guess about Toothy Tile's identity. Is it...George Eads? Love the column, and I'm not even a celebrity groupie!
F.G.
Dear CSLies:
Your CSI-specific Toothy guess makes me think you’d search down Georgie-boy for an autograph...or more. Lucky for your celeb fantasies, he isn't Tooth-babe.
Dear Ted:
What is going to happen first: Are we ever going to find out who Toothy Tile is, or is our planet going to be destroyed because aliens don't like the way they are portrayed in J.J Abrams' flicks?

Dear Outting Space:
You’ll be seasick from Cloverfield 2 before T.T. gets some cojones, that’s my hunch.
Just because Heath's performance as Ennis was iconic doesn't mean that his Joker can't be as well. I think it will be. Can't wait for TDK!!
Ted calls Jake a "big bottom-diva tease" oh LOL!!
