I don't really see what the big deal is over Jake breaking ties with old friends. It happens all the time. People grow up, move on and make other friends. Occasionally some of the old ones stay around but life takes people in different directions. Doesn't mean something major happened.
I do not think they have just broken all the relations suddenly, they have slowly moved away more than anything else I think, Levine tweeted about Nightcrawler, Jene Hong Levine's best friend has a small part in EOW, when NEFTN did an evening in honor of Jake Levine was one of the guests, then there was a snowstorm in NY and he could not go, but he helped Jake with the auction on E-bay connected to the event.
