It’s at the Samuel J. Friedman, MTC’s flagship Broadway theater, only until March 15, when it has to clear out to make way for MTC’s next production, something called “Airline Highway.”
I have no idea what that play’s about, but I can’t imagine it’s going “to take off” (I am so clever today!) the way “Constellations” has.

“If they were in another theater, they could extend this thing until the Tony Awards, probably longer,” says a producer.
This is the biggest hit MTC has had since “Venus in Fur” in 2011.
The play, by Nick Payne, is a brisk 70 minutes. It’s absorbing, if a little sudsy (people were crying by the end on the night I saw it). But what makes this production special is the chemistry between Gyllenhaal and Wilson.
They’re the Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne of this theater season. And Gyllenhaal puts on a flawless British accent.
My friend Imogen Lloyd Webber, news editor of Broadway.com, says “his accent is better than mine.”
Mark my words, both Gyllenhaal and Wilson will be nominated for Tonys. Gyllenhaal will square off against Alex Sharp, the star of “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.”
And Wilson could topple the Queen — that is Helen Mirren — in “The Audience.”
I bet the play is nominated, too, though the favorite this year remains “Curious Incident.”
