well, idk, I'm not sure it's any braver than what he did on SNL or even in BBM for that matter, lol! And Jake has a great sense of humor - he might like it!
We want everyone to be out + there is nothing wrong with wanting Jake to be openly gay.
Yes. Until famous people with money and power come out of the closet and stop bearding, it only makes it harder for "everyday people" to do the same. Sorry if that seems unfair, but that's the breaks. If you want the fame and the money and the power and the adulation, then you have to take the sucky stuff, too.
I ask Ted myself if Toothy's beard was fooling herself into believing it was a real romance and Ted answered yes that the beard and her people were thinking she was the one to change him, he was going to be "different" with her.
LOL, what a liar!
Ted said 100 times that the showmance is just PR tool for Reeke.
I ask Ted myself if Toothy's beard was fooling herself into believing it was a real romance and Ted answered yes that the beard and her people were thinking she was the one to change him, he was going to be "different" with her.
And I love, love 50 Cent. I think he's just the sexiest, and a brilliant writer. And I know he's gay [... because of] that cute little voice of his. It's okay, 50 Cent. Feel free to call me anytime. My boyfriend and I are experts. You can come over for dinner. And maybe dessert.
—Singer Rufus Wainwright, in Details, contributing to the new trend of celebs pretending to be experts about each other
I've just remembered that song that says "..When a maaan loves a woooman..".
What a homophobic piece of shit song, I'm throwing away the CD to the trash can now.
I always despised that song until they used it in the Crying Game.
It still makes me cringe. I'm not sure if it's only because the genders don't reflect my experience, or if it's because it seems to be excusing or even encouraging bad behavior.
I think that song is only about how when you love someone, you tend to overlook their flaws, big or small, and won't listen or tolerate putting them down, even if someone tries to tell you for your own good. You could change the genders when you listen, that's what I do, with classic songs, to make them appropriate to all relationships. :)
I'm not sure if it's only because the genders don't reflect my experience, or if it's because it seems to be excusing or even encouraging bad behavior.
The words don't always come out right. I'm pretty sure he misspoke here. I think he meant "I remember talking to Michelle right after we first saw the movie"
We do have quotes of them saying this back then. At that point, the experience of making the movie was "recent."
In other words - "Jake ignores Michelle and Matilda".
On the one hand I don't think what I said implies that. I think he just mis-used the word "recent." Not because he hasn't seen them recently, but because the experience of making the movie was recent, at that time several years ago when he had the conversation with Michelle.
On the other hand I don't have the impression that he's very involved in their lives.
For such a serious actor as Heath was, he was crazy funny. Dark funny, but funny. I don't think any of us can watch [Brokeback Mountain] to this day. I remember talking to Michelle very recently and her being like, 'I didn't know if it was any good or not.'
The words don't always come out right. I'm pretty sure he misspoke here. I think he meant "I remember talking to Michelle right after we first saw the movie
No, that's not how I read it. I don't think he misspoke - although he is confusing, as usual :) Here's my translation, fwiw: I think he DID speak to Michelle recently and they were reminiscing about Heath, the movie, etc., and so they were talking about their first reactions to the movie and how none of them knew if it was any good.
Jake Gyllenhaal is bruised and bloodied on the set of his new movie Source Code. The actor is seen on a break between takes during a busy day of filming in Montreal.
Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony are ready in case one of their children winds up coming out to them in the future, with Lopez saying:
"Honestly, it wouldn't bother me at all. I wouldn't be shocked or anything. Marc even once asked me, 'What if one of the babies is gay?' I said, 'Who cares?' And he was like, 'Yeah, I know. Who cares?' You just love your kids and want them to be happy."
Big month for Puerto Rico and gay-positive messages from some of, if not all three of, its biggest pop icons. Unfortunately, it still has crap TV like this—using anti-gay slurs when discussing/dissing Ricky Martin—to muddy the laters.
This stupid Namath biopic has been floated for years, and they always trot it out when Jake needs a little testosterone boost. I doubt that it will ever happen, and that's a good thing because it's probably so mediocre that Jake can barely look at it without getting sick. In terms of quality, it's probably Nailed times ten. It's so beneath him, it's embarassing.
In addition to self-bearding, Jake is macho-posturing through potential film roles in order to dispel more gay rumors (Boystown sighting in Chicago?), attract the fanboys to PoP and distract attention from the lame, incoherent GQ article.
LOL I think Jake reads WFT and OMG. In GQ he makes it point to cover some of the things we've talked about, like the rings he's worn on a chain. Sure, Jake, yeah those rings were the old black diamond one and a patron saint of actors ring. Uh huh.
So now we know! Committment rings my ass!!! He explained the necklace with the sapphires during the last GQ interview ( A gift from Maggie). The black diamond ring is from 2005, he bought it himself and the patron St of actors makes sense becasue at times it looke dike it was a pendent underneath his shirt.
And his quote about a man needing to find a womanwas not taken out of context, he just said no when asked if he still thought it was the most important thing than says who am i to say what is the most important thing.
Btw, one chain has the black diamond ring, the other has a PENDANT of the patron saint. The wedding band we saw thru his shirt opening and under his tight t shirt was neither a pendant or a small pinky ring. Good try Jake but no cigar.
Okay, I'm not necessarily a believer in the whole ring theory, but I will say that there was something about the way he actually pulled the chains out of his t-shirt, rolled them around in his fingers and then "seemed alarmed" that the interviewer noticed sounded a little off to me - a little too contrived. Maybe it's nothing, or maybe he really is as sneaky as Ted says he is :) He's an actor after all.
"Between courses at the Ravagh Persian Grill in Manhattan(his choice), he pulls out from under his t-shirt the two chains that hang around his neck. Each has a ring at its end - one is a black diamond, the other a pendant of Saint Genesius, patron saint of actors - and he starts rolling them between his fingers. But he almost seems alarmed when I ask about them, as though he hasn't been aware of what he was doing."
Jake Gyllenhaal talks Ledger, life lessons and love in GQ
There was a time when Jake Gyllenhaal thought the most important job for a man was to find the right woman. Now? The actor's not so sure, as he told GQ magazine for the May issue.
The actor, who gives a brief “it’s okay” response when asked about how the single life is treating him, said romance is a two-way street. “I think it’s more important for every man to find the right woman and for every woman to find the right man.”
But is it the most important thing? Gyllenhaal gives a resolute no. “Who am I to say what the most important thing in life is? The best answer that I could give to any of these things is that I really don’t know. Particularly right now in my life.”
One thing Gyllenhaal does know for sure is that his upcoming role in “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” turned into a dream job. “I’m excited about it,” he said of the movie that he at first thought of as an unlikely gig. But he discovered “there’s a great character in the middle who I could play and have fun with,” he told GQ.
Lucky for Gyllenhaal, he also found beefing up for the role to be pretty fun as well – “Prince of Persia” director Mike Newell said he wanted Gyllenhaal to “look like courage.” So the actor, who’d already packed on eight pounds of muscle for his role in 2009’s “Brothers,” added on another four. "I'm a really athletic person, so I got off on thinking, 'how can I get my body into a shape to be him?' I love doing it. It keeps my mind focused and clear."
Gyllenhaal didn't mention any on-set spats with "Persia" co-stars, but the actor does have a bit of history with them. On the set of 2005's "Jarhead," he walked the line between acting like he was punishing fellow actor Brian Geraghty and actually punishing him, the movie's director Sam Mendes told GQ. Although Gyllenhaal doesn't think he slapped Geraghty around, when he tried to apologize, Geraghty told him he was crazy, called him a loose cannon and didn't speak to him for a month.
But perhaps the biggest lessons Gyllenhaal learned came after filming "Brokeback Mountain" with the late Heath Ledger. He and Ledger also had their tiffs, but in the end, Gyllenhaal said they balanced each other out. After Ledger died in 2008 - something Gyllenhaal said he still doesn't like talking about - it made him realize that he was hiding in his work.
"It was like my work was the only thing that mattered to me...I could only understand or define myself through doing that. Life, I didn’t totally understand. And I think I was afraid of life," he said. "But after that happened…I think I recognized that it was work. And I recognized that this [life] is for real."
I just caught up reading the GQ interview and all.
Omfg, it's Jake who's the queen of the babblers. That is the most incoherent bunch of hooey ever. And after 2 yrs of silence on Heath (because Jake is special and couldn't speak), the main thing he now says about Heath is that he was...sensitive. lmao. What a profound insight. Oh yeah, he also says Heath's death made HIM realize HIS own work is not the most important thing in HIS life. Such a relief to know Heath's death was useful in some way - at least it helped JAKE gain perspective. Jeesus, could Jake look beyond himself for 1 minute?
Jake plainly says that he admired and was "kind of enamored" of Heath. You can't get anymore plain than that. It's clear he loved him.
I'm surprised he said this much honestly. What I noticed is he didn’t go into anything too personal, kept the talk about Heath re BBM and things that happened some time before his death. I’m probably much too nosy but I would’ve liked to read a bit about that part that he said to have been "difficult", not so much talk around Heath's passing. Bottom line is, I really think he was honest in what he said about Heath and I like that.
The line about learning a lesson about life rings hollow. Sounds like the kind of thing he thought he was expected to say because Heath was so young when he died, and Jake sure hasn't changed his behavior. Still talking about being straight, hiding a partner and baby, looking for a new beard. Yep, he really learned that lesson.
Sounds to me like Jake pulled out the rings deliberately to get the reporter to ask him about them. And yes, I do think it is directed at us. Too bad he couldn't figure out a way to deny the footprint.
On getting into acting at such a young age: "I think at first I was just ambitious. It was blind ambition. I wanted to be out there. I mean, I remember watching my sister up onstage doing 'South Pacific' when we were kids and going, 'That looks like a f***ing lot of fun.' Was it attention? Probably, but I think it was more the magic. It's magic, some of what happens in movies."
And yes, I do think it is directed at us. (destiny)
^^I LOL when people (trolls) try to argue against this. The only and most popular fandom sites Jake has are IHJ, WDW, DC, OMG and WFT, and all of them are relatively small and the commenters overlap. These are the same people who also read and influence ONTD and many gossip sites. More critically, they (we!) are the core fans who are interested (obsessed) enough in Jake to do research, save and compare his quotes and really analyze his photos. So yes, we are very important in the potential of what we can discover, theorize, and reveal.
LOL to the posters who hate tweets, even the ones about Jake (WTF?). Guess what, the Library of Congress has determined that tweets are important historically, and they will be archiving every single tweet starting from its inception in 2006. The Library of Congress, that's really something.
Who are you talking to, 5:58 #2? When you just make a blanket comment like that please let us know who you are directing it to, or else it's assumed that you are answering the last comment.
That bit in GQ article about Jake and Peter's fight on-set of Jarhead is kind of funny with Peter hitting Jake in the windpipe and then claiming it was an accident. LOL
Peter Sarsgaard (Jake's brother-in-law, married to Maggie Gyllenhaal) on Jake and a fight on the set of 'Jarhead': "The nice thing is, for Jake, he doesn't see having any argument as something that ruins a relationship. He sees it as something that could potentially help one. That's something I learned from him. I'm extremely close with him. He's basically my brother."
Bulking up for 'Prince of Persia,' Jake downed a ton of coffee and energy gel for an impromptu bike ride with Lance Armstrong: "I was half a wheel ahead of him, like I was kind of egging him on. I was just totally jacked on caffeine."
7:02 I read that part but I don't feel like going back and quoting it, but IIRC Jake's story was about the very first time he rode with Lance. I don't remember any POP reference, that he was bulking up when that happened.??
Seven years ago, while at the top of her game, Jennifer Knapp announced what seemed to many a sudden decision: She was stepping away from Christian music, taking an indefinite hiatus. Rumors began to swirl—she was burned out, she needed a rest, she was upset about something, she was gay. Turns out that all the rumors were true, as Knapp reveals in this rambling, exclusive interview with Christianity Today. The one-time Grammy nominee ended her hiatus in late 2009 with a few small shows, an updated website, and an announcement that she was writing new songs. Many of those songs will be featured on Letting Go, releasing May 11, her first album since 2001's The Way I Am.
In one of her first extensive interviews since announcing her comeback, Knapp, 36, talks to CT about why she quit music in the first place, her lifestyle choice, her rekindled passion for songwriting, her faith, her new album, and more. ... Jennifer Knapp Comes Out
I was watching TMZ TV today and Harvey Levin (who's gay btw) didn't believe something Max the blonde surfer dude said, so Harvey told Max "Come on..." and Max who was a little irritated at being interrupted, snapped back at him - and it didn't sound exactly like he intended - "Don't come on me." The look on Harvey's face and everyone's face including Max was priceless.
love the tats wish i knew what they say and its nice t see ricky taking it all off . ok im blushing and i shouldnt of saw what i seen but , but i did and it was wow lol
Dear Ted: A lot of sources are saying that Jake Gyllenhaal and Isabel Lucas are hooking up? Is this just another brief fauxmance? —M
Dear Show and Tell: Let's see if she's on the tip sheet for the Prince of Persia premiere in a few weeks. If she is, I'm going to be very disappointed in Jake.
I would have found Jake's interview more credible had he not pulled that ring shit. That was such an obvious ploy. He has gone to great lengths to keep what he wears hidden for the last 2 years, and suddenly he pulls them out in front of an interviewer? He may have had 2 rings on that day, but they are not what he has been keeping hidden under his shirt all this time.
Kudos to PR for the vain attempt to make that story go away. You get an A for effort, but it did not work. In fact you just reconfirmed that the ring is significant.
It's funny/odd/weird that the interviewer described Jake's 2 chain as having rings, one with the black diamond ring, the other with a pendant. That's what he said. Who the fuck calls a pendant, a ring?
Still talking about being straight, hiding a partner and baby, looking for a new beard.
Or Jake is not lying and Ted exaggerated the Toothy Tile greatly or even made it up based on what he wanted to see. He's still the only one claiming Jake is gay.
Jake said that Heath influenced his life - that is the ultimate compliment.
Jake did not say that Heath influenced his life. He said Heath's death made him realize things about life. Big difference.
Jake reminds me of a more polite John McEnroe. He can't seem to speak of others with generosity.
A real compliment would be something that's about Heath, his worth as a person or an actor. "Heath left the world a better place than he found it." "He was hyper sensitive but a good man and worth the trouble." "He was an inspiring actor." "He was an asshole, but lovable." Whatever. Anything that is not mainly about Jake himself. But that seems impossible, lol.
Or Jake is not lying and Ted exaggerated the Toothy Tile greatly or even made it up based on what he wanted to see. He's still the only one claiming Jake is gay.
Don't be silly and don't play dumb - you know damn well that Ted is NOT the only gossiper claiming that Jake is gay. People aren't blind and stupid, they know about Jake's bearding and Jake was bearding because he's gay.
The interviewer asked him about that and Jake recounted an incident when Heath as Ennis was talking about two gay men who lived together and how one of them was murdered as a result. Jake, mindful of how Dustin Hoffman would say things to him before a take to get a rise out of him, was trying to do a similar thing to Heath during his monologue. The thing was it made Heath very upset. Jake said he realizes now he was wrong and that Heath was brilliant in the scene.
A real compliment would be something that's about Heath, his worth as a person or an actor.
I understand what you're saying but can't understand why people think that there is a need to prove Heath's worth as a person or an actor. We have Heath's movies and we have people who loved and admired him - we have all the proof that we need.
Jake comes across as fairly self-centered in general, I agree with that, but regarding Heath, going by the way he talked about him I think it's more an issue of Heath as a human being (actor, friend, man et al) having really affected Jake on a personal level rather than an issue of Jake making it all about himself. I found the article very insightful on that aspect. I believe everything he said about Heath except for that part about what he learned from his death. Either he said it because something of the sort was expected of him, or he thinks he learned that when in reality he didn’t.

"Most of the stuff you saw in Forest Gump, Joe lived through all of it," says producer and friend Jimmy Walsh about Namath. The film will apparently follow the quarterback’s rise to rock star status – from a kid to how he earned the nickname ‘Broadway Joe’.

@wetdarkandwild Just found out an interesting fact - Jake is using the same stunt double for SC as he used 6 years previous in tDAT. lol! about 24 hours ago via web FilmSourceCode
Did you read the interview? Jake said he not only admired Heath but he "was kind of enamored by him." You can't get more plain than that.
^^^
"Did Heath never do anything that annoyed you?"
"No. I always admired Heath. I always was kind of enamored by him, you know. I mean, yeah, sometimes it was hard to sit with him. He moved.... He was a mover."

Yes, this. This is pretty much exactly my take on the interview. I do believe he genuinely loved Heath, admired him, and we all knew he was enamored of him. Everyone always says they learned something when someone young dies, that's a stock answer, but I doubt it has anything to do with reality. Because very few people (including Jake, obviously) actually DO anything different after saying they learned about life, blah, blah. I definitely agree that he appears to be fairly self-centered, which I guess is not unusual for an actor - but I think it's more evident with him because he so clearly loves - needs? - adulation and being the center of attention. There's a bit of immaturity in there, too, imo. He's not a full grown-up yet.
Jake should have also used the interview to explain why he was wearing a particular pair of shoes...
"Between courses at the Ravagh Persian Grill in Manhattan(his choice), he caually leans down and pulls a piece of gum from one of his shoes. But he almost seems alarmed when I ask about them, as though he hasn't been aware of what he was wearing on his feet".
Dear Ted: What a disappointment was to read the quotes from Jake Gyllenhaal's new GQ interview. I thought we could find a more mature, genuine and honest person, but instead we have the same image obsessed fake guy recycling his own three year old PR approved quotes from his previous 2007 GQ interview. Like "it's important for every man to find the right woman?" What the hell is this hetero-centric and homophobic statement? Is he still living in the 1950s? I know he is promoting a Disney blockbuster and wants a conservative majority to buy a ticket but come on! This is too much! Do you think this is the only Jake we are going to get post-Prince of Persia, too? —Carrie Bradshaw
Dear Dark Ages: Glad you agree with me. Was totally disappointed! Don't you think he needs to be in the edgier mags? Then again you aren't going to find the un-PC quotes in GQ, it's quite mainstream.
I do believe he genuinely loved Heath, admired him, and we all knew he was enamored of him."
I give Jake HIGH marks for admitting this. It was obvious to us that he felt this way about Heath. The fact that he's admitting this to a journalist is quite remarkable and I'm surprised not more is being made about this quote instead the focus is on that stupid regurgitated every man needs to find the right woman and every woman...yawn. That's not the real revelation in this article-it's about his feelings about Heath.

Q: So I don't usually do this (fans self), but I have to know, Mr. Monkey, is Dave Franco, younger brother of super-awesome gay friendly James Franco, a friend of Dorothy? I only ask this because of a reference he made in a short interview: “Once a week I would meet up with the coolest teacher and we’d go over my work. All my friends were like, Soooo… once a week at lunch you meet up with Mr. Schulenberg to talk about poetry. (smiles) They all thought I was having sex with my teacher. But I really just loved to write and it was a nice outlet.” What say you to the minions, Oh Icarus of the Apes?– Jacob, Santa Monica, CA
A: Regular readers like you know how much I hate the “is he gay?” questions, but I’m making an exception in the case of Dave, the Franco brother who shaves, because he’s the best part of the reimagined Scrubs. In addition to that show, you may remember Dave from such roles as Gonzo in Greek, as well as Greg, the Guy Who Pissed His Pants Eight Years Ago in Superbad. He also plays a drug dealer in the new Ben Stiller movie Greenberg.
As far as I can tell, Dave has never suggested a sexual orientation one way or the other in interviews. (Regular readers also know that, as a personal policy, I do not schedule interviews with actors, just so I can ask: “Are you gay?”)
But from the quote you provide, I’d be inclined to say, “not gay,” if only because closeted gay actors tend to not make gay references about themselves. Basically, they doth protest too much.
Then again, we’re talking about the Franco brothers, who both seem decidedly unbalanced – in the best possible way – so who the hell knows?
I was being sarcastic, clearly it takes A LOT to please us. ;)
lol, but, idk. Seems to me it's not a matter of "pleasing" anyone it's more that most WFTers basically don't fall for PR bullshit and aren't mindless fangirls - that's the purview of babbler/lashers and I'll happily leave it to them :)
who was the first gay celebrity to come out?
said...
Q: All this Ricky Martin talk has me wondering: who was the first gay celebrity to come out publicly? Caveats: It's got to be post-Stonewall, because the concept of coming out didn't mean the same thing before then. And it's got to be someone who was already well-known by straight folks and THEN came out – nobody who was just a celebrity of the gay subculture. – Sam, Denver, CO
A: It is complicated, isn’t it? Walt Whitman came out in his poetry, and Oscar Wilde was outed (as a result of some public “indiscretions) in the 19th century. And a number of authors were out pre-Stonewall, perhaps most notably Gore Vidal and James Baldwin.
But “coming out” really was different pre-Stonewall, if only because journalists would almost never ask the question (and often not report it even if a celebrity answered it anyway).
Stonewall took place on June 29, 1969. In the aftermath, Noel Coward was encouraged to come out, but he declined (even as he had given his partner and others full permission to discuss his sexuality posthumously; he died in 1973).
Dusty Springfield came out as bisexual in 1971, becoming the first pop star ever to do so. David Bowie came out as bisexual in January of 1972 (and then later took it back, and then later took that back). And Lance Loud didn’t ever officially come out on An American Family, the landmark “real world” documentary that aired on PBS in 1973, but he sometimes wore make-up and women’s clothes, and everyone just assumed he was gay from that point on (something Loud didn’t dispute).
Some notables on Out Magazine's Top 50 Most Powerful Gay People
Nice to NPH so high on the list and that he has some movies in the works. I don't go to the movies often, but I'd be inclined to give his a chance and support him and the studios/companies that hire him. Life seems good for him and I'm glad.
I understand what you're saying but can't understand why people think that there is a need to prove Heath's worth as a person or an actor.
No need at all. It's been expressed by many. My comment is about Jake referencing most everything he says about Heath back to himself. It may not be intentional - I agree he seems to have cared for him - but it's funny and so egocentric.
I think it's more an issue of Heath as a human being (actor, friend, man et al) having really affected Jake on a personal level rather than an issue of Jake making it all about himself.
Listen to what you yourself are saying. It's about Heath having affected JAKE on a personal level. You see, it's about Jake. ;)
Regarding what Jake learned from Dustin, and now concedes it was a bad thing to do to Heath:
If you have seen the extra material from Monster Ball DVD, the actor who played Heath's father also liked to taunt Heath and the black guy with off-camera lines which tried to derail their respective characters' ways.
The theme of the interview is the "Jump". It begins and ends with a "Jump" story. Jake regrets he didn't make the jump with Heath.
Yeah, I noticed that right away. And it's pretty ironic because "jumping" symbolizes risk taking and fearlessness and a real sense of freedom - things that are antithetical to a closeted gay man :(
He did imply that he didn't jump then, but that he would now. He said he regretted not jumping. He's grown and changed. He also, when enough time was spent on a topic in his estimation, said it was "time to jump". :)
He said he regretted not jumping. He's grown and changed. He also, when enough time was spent on a topic in his estimation, said it was "time to jump". :)
12:02, of course Jake was responding to questions directed to himself. And he obviously loves that format and stuck to it religiously. ;)
Amusingly enough, Heath played one of the world's most famous narcissists - Casanova. Right after acting with Jake in The Brokeback Mountain.
"The great lover had been ill as a child, so his selfish parents ignored him and left him in the care of his grandmother. She idolized him and instilled in him a sense of his superiority. But his mother remained distant and the only time she paid attention to Casanova was when he showed wit or charm. So he became the son she wanted, amusing and charming, forever performing. ... Casanova had two things in his upbringing that can produce the grandiose false self of the narcissist – neglect and overindulgence. With a combination of adoring grandmother, critical, disapproving mother and weak, absent father Casanova was bound to become a narcissist."
There are degrees of narcissism; many people have it to some extent. The personality disorder is characterized by a pathological need to be the center of attention, need for admiration, and lack of real empathy. (i.e., The narcissist's situation is always worse than yours. Even if you're very ill, his trauma of being your friend while you are ill is worse than yours of being the ill person. If you actually die, the true tragedy is the grief he suffers.)
At the same time as being rather lacking in empathy, the narcissist is a great student of human emotion. He analyzes people all the better to manipulate them and run his games. It goes without saying that he is self-ish. There's rarely any genuine generosity. Most seeming generosity has an ulterior motive.
There is a growing body of research indicating that aggression is closely associated with narcissism. Most narcissists cannot accept any criticism and will erupt in rage if challenged. At the same time they can be very critical of other people and always think that their way is better. Making comments that subtly - or not so subtly - belittle others is another classic trait.
Narcissists can be very, very vain. They are often perfectly turned out and obsessed with grooming and will have bathrooms full of products and potions. They can be rude to people believed to be below them on the social spectrum, e.g. waiters.
Another major sign is that the person 'gaslights' - i.e. lies and denies. Many of the behaviors are sly and subtle but the cumulative effect is to make you dance to their tune. If you try to call them out, they'll deny everything or play dumb.
Interestingly, it's also said that narcissism produces self-destructive behaviors. Jake doesn't seem to have those, so maybe he's not a narcissist at all.
It's about Heath having affected JAKE on a personal level.
Which is intrinsic to how Jake sees Heath. Maybe he can’t separate Heath from Heath’s impact on him. You could say that’s egocentrism, but I don’t think that’s what this is. It shows how important Heath really was to him, more than compliments like "Heath was a great actor, great guy, etc" would imo. We’ve heard it all before and without it being spelled out by Jake in this interview (though he did say he admired Heath), isn’t it obvious he thought the world of him? I felt there was a certain note of intimacy in the way Jake talked about him without going into 'too personal' territory. What can I say? I liked what I read. If you didn’t, that’s fine. :)
I re-read the interview and now I'm convinced that this bit was staged. Jake's a pro - he's doing his first big interview in years and there is no way he "accidentally" or "mindlessly" PULLS two freaking chains OUT from his t-shirt and then starts playing with them, ffs. And the "almost seems alarmed" bit is overacting to show that he wasn't doing it on purpose. Lame. He might as well have just yanked the chains right out and shoved them in the reporter's face, lol.
Because he knows people have been speculating about what's on the chains he wears under his shirts. Not just here and OMG. A lasher wondered about it at DC.
You honestly believe that celebrities pr people don't keep track of sites that talk about them? What do you think the "p" in pr stands for? Maybe they don't know anything about that Toothy Tile character either, lol.
Keeping track is one thing and staging something because of fan speculations is something else.
*shrug* call me cynical, but that didn't ring true at all to me (no pun intended, lol). And celebrities stage things all the time - I don't know why it is so hard for people to understand this. If he can stage a fauxmance for years, why couldn't he stage that? What you see is not what there is. Jake said as much in his interview - that Heath was kind of an exception in this regard.
Kind of OT, but some funny/interesting comments over at ONTD about Ryan Phillipe's Men's Health cover. Looks and bodywise, I have to say that Toth is a boring old fart compared to Ryan and Jake, lol.
If you read the quote again you will see that the writer said that Jake has RINGS on each chain, but only mentioned the black diamond one. It sounds like there is another ring on the chain with the patron saint medal that he wears too. I wonder if the other is the gold band that Jake wears on the chain.
Hi guys! Just took a quick lunch break and I'm back to catch up. What'd I miss? Again, all of this ring conspiracy stuff could be true, but you can't know for sure.
Can anyone remember the last time that WDW said anything even remotely critical of Jake? Anything at all? Are they just a second-order pr blog, shilling the Disney/CAA line? DC is even worse. Both just look like pr-approved shill boards. Is there any reason for a Jake fan with an IQ above 60 to visit these boards besides the pretty pictures? But then again, there doesn't seem to be much going on in Jake's life right now besides lots of pretty (or not so pretty; that GQ cover was totally unflattering) pictures. Nothing substantive (or coherent) has come out of the man's mouth in years.
Every blog has it's purpose and tone. It's not a reason to go around criticizing other sites--well, except maybe GB and DC, because they're crazy delusional homophobes. :-D
First people are complaining about the negativity here and at OMG, now the positvity at WWD. Looks like someone is stirring.
IHJ, DC, GB, WDW, OMG and WFT2, the worst "fan" blogs evah! The stink worst that a pile of horseshit in mi August and are run and visited by a bunch of middle-aged hags except for IHJ she's young and Cullen is a middle-aged queen.
Useless sacks of shits and a waste of apace and are delousional if they think anyone outside that circle jerk gives a fuck.

well, idk, I'm not sure it's any braver than what he did on SNL or even in BBM for that matter, lol! And Jake has a great sense of humor - he might like it!
Oh, I'm sure Jake will love it, but that commercial has such potential for the teasing and jokes :)

oh, for sure - but I think Jake's used to that. can't be any worse than the BBM teasing and jokes, I wouldn't think, lol!
With all due respect, I don't think anyone has a right to tell another how to observe their religious practices, or how they want to write a post.
In defense of podunk towns, in mine we have an openly gay person serving (openly) in our town government.
It's just a stereotype a minute around here, ain't it?

We want everyone to be out + there is nothing wrong with wanting Jake to be openly gay.

Yes. Until famous people with money and power come out of the closet and stop bearding, it only makes it harder for "everyday people" to do the same. Sorry if that seems unfair, but that's the breaks. If you want the fame and the money and the power and the adulation, then you have to take the sucky stuff, too.
I know Jake fits Toothy
That doesn't really matter anymore, faking a relationship for such a long time is proof enough that Jake is gay.
Ted finally mentioned Isabel in his latest crap referring to Lainy's blurb about Mama in Montreal.

Finally?! Is there really any reason to repeat Lainey's "gossip"?
And I love, love 50 Cent. I think he's just the sexiest, and a brilliant writer. And I know he's gay [... because of] that cute little voice of his. It's okay, 50 Cent. Feel free to call me anytime. My boyfriend and I are experts. You can come over for dinner. And maybe dessert.

How Rufus Wainwright Knows 50 Cent Is Gay
Rufus talks too much!
Why is Ted quoting Lainey's PR plants?
To make it more interesting :)
Wait a minute - are you serious about this?
"I remember talking to Michelle very recently"
The words don't always come out right. I'm pretty sure he misspoke here. I think he meant "I remember talking to Michelle right after we first saw the movie"
We do have quotes of them saying this back then. At that point, the experience of making the movie was "recent."
"Wait a minute - are you serious about this?"
Hm, I guess. Maybe I'm wrong. What do you mean?
That song speaks of something universal.
I'm pretty sure he misspoke here. I think he meant "I remember talking to Michelle right after we first saw the movie"
In other words - "Jake ignores Michelle and Matilda".
Hm, I guess. Maybe I'm wrong. What do you mean?
To be honest, I never thought about songs, but what about movies and TV and 98% heterosexual pairs? That must be 10x worse.
Take it from us, guys, Brokeback Mountain is one of the best films ever made. :)

True, but there is one big flaw - it isn't five hours long!

I play a mean game of fetch!
LOL :)
Thank you, 1:57 :)
Bullshit, 2:33. He knows people know the mystery ring means something, and it's not praying that he gets hired for a movie.
Does he explain the baby footprint in the interview?!
I'm the patron saint of breaking legs.
Btw, one chain has the black diamond ring, the other has a PENDANT of the patron saint. The wedding band we saw thru his shirt opening and under his tight t shirt was neither a pendant or a small pinky ring. Good try Jake but no cigar.
2:56, Babblerdom is a better place for you. Go there.
LOL!!!!

That's it. I'm OVER this rambling narcissist.
4:25 PM, maybe you should read the interview again, it is easy to see how much Jake loved and admired Heath.
Jake said that Heath influenced his life - that is the ultimate compliment.
4:35, I agree. Jake plainly says that he admired and was "kind of enamored" of Heath. You can't get anymore plain than that. It's clear he loved him.
4:25 PM, what did you expect, what do you want to hear from Jake about Heath?
4:35 and 4:46, ITA. :)
I’m probably much too nosy...
You aren't the only one. ;)
Still talking about being straight, hiding a partner and baby, looking for a new beard.
All that doesn't mean that Jake is a bad person.
I remember watching my sister up onstage doing 'South Pacific' when we were kids and going, 'That looks like a f***ing lot of fun.
Should we presume that Jake isn't pissed off with Billy Crystal? :)
LOL to the posters who hate tweets, even the ones about Jake (WTF?). Guess what, the Library of Congress has determined that tweets are important historically, and they will be archiving every single tweet starting from its inception in 2006. The Library of Congress, that's really something.

Bitch-Back! Readers Split Over Robsten Shirtgate
An old ring and a pendant not 2 rings, read it again.

It's funny/odd/weird that the interviewer described Jake's 2 chain as having rings, one with the black diamond ring, the other with a pendant. That's what he said. Who the fuck calls a pendant, a ring?
Are there such things as pendant rings?! Ring pendants? Bracelet earrings? Tongue stud watches?
Jake did not say that Heath influenced his life. He said Heath's death made him realize things about life.
Yes, because Heath was important to him, was part of his life.

Anything that is not mainly about Jake himself.

Dear Ted:
What a disappointment was to read the quotes from Jake Gyllenhaal's new GQ interview.
Dear Dark Ages:
Glad you agree with me. Was totally disappointed! Don't you think he needs to be in the edgier mags? Then again you aren't going to find the un-PC quotes in GQ, it's quite mainstream.
Bitch Back!
Gee, Jake wasn't aware he was taking his chains out of his tee shirt or that he was wearing shoes.

Ah, those shoes ;)

Yes, I agree with this, too.
Finally - Jake did one thing right! :)

Easy to please? I wouldn't go that far, lol.
I was being sarcastic, clearly it takes A LOT to please us. ;)

DUH!
I still didn't read the interview, waiting to cool down first, don't want to have too high expectations.
I still didn't read the interview, waiting to cool down first, don't want to have too high expectations.
I read it when it was first posted on WDW. Today I read it again. It takes some time to digest it properly.

You see, it's about Jake. ;)
The theme of the interview is the "Jump". It begins and ends with a "Jump" story. Jake regrets he didn't make the jump with Heath.
Is Chris Heath, the reporter, a man or a woman?
Regarding what Jake learned from Dustin, and now concedes it was a bad thing to do to Heath:
If you have seen the extra material from Monster Ball DVD, the actor who played Heath's father also liked to taunt Heath and the black guy with off-camera lines which tried to derail their respective characters' ways.
^^He was only responding to the questions asked:
1) Is that your sense?
2) Could you make sense of it all?
3) What effect do you think it had on you?
4) What were you scared of?
5) Afterward [a disagreement] did you think that you had done anything wrong?
Is Chris Heath, the reporter, a man or a woman?
Chris Heath?!
Is Chris Heath, the reporter, a man or a woman?
A man.
Love the name. :)
Chris Heath - Jake's best friend and Heath. Unfuckingbelievable.
He said he regretted not jumping. He's grown and changed. He also, when enough time was spent on a topic in his estimation, said it was "time to jump". :)
Well, I guess we'll see. Some of the things he said in the interview certainly don't back that up. I know it's a cliché - but talk is cheap :) Jake has a lot of money, it would be nice to see him put it where his mouth is (another cliché but I couldn't resist, lol.)
Narcissistic Personality Inventory
Sounds like someone I've run into before over at OMG. ;)
I re-read the interview and now I'm convinced that this bit was staged.
Why would Jake do that?
Why would Jake do that?
Because he knows people have been speculating about what's on the chains he wears under his shirts. Not just here and OMG. A lasher wondered about it at DC.
Jake is reading WFT and DC? Or his PR?
Or his PR?
You honestly believe that celebrities pr people don't keep track of sites that talk about them? What do you think the "p" in pr stands for? Maybe they don't know anything about that Toothy Tile character either, lol.
Duncan Jones and Jake Gyllenhaal on the Source Code set
Is that what Jake's going to wear thorough the whole movie?
Yes!
You honestly believe that celebrities pr people don't keep track of sites that talk about them?
Keeping track is one thing and staging something because of fan speculations is something else.
And celebrities stage things all the time - I don't know why it is so hard for people to understand this.
Jake, it didn't work! lol
Kind of OT, but some funny/interesting comments over at ONTD about Ryan Phillipe's Men's Health cover. Looks and bodywise, I have to say that Toth is a boring old fart compared to Ryan and Jake, lol.
Posted on OMG by Special K
If you read the quote again you will see that the writer said that Jake has RINGS on each chain, but only mentioned the black diamond one. It sounds like there is another ring on the chain with the patron saint medal that he wears too. I wonder if the other is the gold band that Jake wears on the chain.
Hi guys! Just took a quick lunch break and I'm back to catch up. What'd I miss? Again, all of this ring conspiracy stuff could be true, but you can't know for sure.
Message for PR
Maybe some people don't wanna visit Paranoia-ville?

LOL!
