I thought "it" = Heath's performance.

"Jake often doesn't make sense. He is famous for his gyllenbabble."

I just read Jake's staggeringly inarticulate interview in GQ. All of this PoP promotion has clearly turned his brain to mush.

"Finding the right someone is universal."

Then he should have used gender-neutral, and orientation-neutral, pronouns. He didn't for a reason. Not that his dulled brain is capable of pronoun parsing at this point.

"Nothing else he said refutes or explains the fact the he used the type of bullshit language that's been drummed into society's collective brain for years(men go with women, women go with men)."

Hear, hear.

The comment about women finding a man and vice versa is pathetic but not entirely surprising. Not only is it more self-bearding, but it has Disney written all over it. Until PoP is released, the hetero-police at CAA and Disney will massage every word he says, and make sure that he takes advantage of every opportunity to announce his preference for the heterosexual lifestyle, while avoiding any discussion of his own sexuality. Years ago, Jake made a similarly asinine comment about women and men. I ignored that statement, and I'll ignore this interview as well.

And remember that Ricky Martin said the same things both before and during his bearding situation. If he hadn't, he wouldn't have gotten that huge music deal with Sony.

If I have to choose between actual bearding (Reeke) and virtual (or self) bearding (explicitly pro-heterosexual statements to the press and deliberately planted romantic rumors about every living blonde starlet in HW), I'll take the latter any day of the week.

Don't expect much more from him at this point. Vote with your feet on Memorial Day.

One day, his girlfriend, Michelle Williams, wrote a song title — ''Old Man River'' — on his forearm. Ledger got a tattoo artist to run the needles over her words, the way a shopkeeper will frame his first dollar. The song comes from a sad musical, and contains this key advice: ''He must know somethin', he don't say nothin'.'' So last summer, when the couple, first saw Brokeback Mountain — sitting in one of the poker-faced office towers of Manhattan — it should have been perfect: no people, no opinions. The room went dark. Ledger rides a horse, falls in love with another man, breaks his heart, misses out on the chance of his life. The lights came up, Ledger and Williams moved through the lobby. And Ledger had no idea what he'd just seen. ''I understood that it flowed, it was presented well. But whether it was good, whether it was bad — we walked out not knowing what we'd just watched.''

Yes, and I think that was quite deliberate on Jake's part.

Oh. But no, she meant the film.

(Thank god the majority of critics and audience liked BBM).

Jake Gyllenhaal's penetrating stare on the May cover of GQ is just a hint at the intense article inside. Beyond just chatting about his childhood love of the Van Halen song "Jump," Jake delves deep into some of his most difficult moments on set — from Brokeback Mountain era conflict with Heath Ledger to fights with Peter Sarsgaard while working on Jarhead...

Hmm, what conflict?

Anonymous said...

Hmm, what conflict?

I bet it was the "difficult" love scenes.

Jake is pretty and charming but his whole life consists of acting whether he's on camera or not. He's phony and he's found a way to make a living at being phony. I bet he doesn't even know who he really is. I'm kind of over him tbh. He's nice to look at but other than that he's a totally fake person, which in the long run is pretty pathetic.

Jake hides his sexuality, but he's not a phony.

I bet their relationship during and after BBM wasn't all rosy like it was made out to be.

As far as th GQ article. Just more JG BS. The man makes no sense when he talks. He is so phony and guarded he doesnt know how to put a coherent answer to a question. Sorry to be so negative guys but got to call it as I see it.

ITA, I think this is a really good explanation for why the GQ interview is such a mess. It goes way beyond the usual gyllenbabble.

And I for one will be voting with my feet, which are going to march right into SATC2, with its gay star Cynthia Nixon and its gay wedding.

4:15/4:17 wants Jake to reveal that Heath and Michelle are assholes and that he isn't in touch with them. You just wait to hear negative stuff. I bet you will be disappointed when you read the whole thing.

I remember talking to Michelle very recently and her being like, 'I didn't know if it was any good or not.'"

Maybe Michelle meant, it wasn't good that people don't watch BBM anymore. IMO it's a grammatical mistake. Maybe he wanted to use indirect speech "she didn't know...", but instead used direct speech (quote) "I didn't know...", but didn't use present tense for "do" in the quote?

Anonymous said...

I asked why he says that he talked to Michelle recently and I;m not a stirrer. English is not my first language. I really can't understand why he said he talked "recently", when somebody here found Michelle's quote about BBM in a RS interview from 2006. Please explain how that can be and what the *uck is he alluding to.

Longer quote about Heath: "He was very sensitive. He didn’t always have a sense of performance in his everyday life. He knew who he was. I think actors very often, they know how to present something, and that’s part of their job. I think he was just really sensitive. We often used to do a lot of things together, because people were very interested in him and I think we felt safe together. For such a serious actor as Heath was, he was crazy funny. Dark funny, but funny. I don't think any of us can watch [Brokeback Mountain] to this day. I remember talking to Michelle very recently and her being like, 'I didn't know if it was any good or not.'"

Please don't put words in my mouth, I didn't say that. I just think it's funny that now that Jake has deigned to talk about Heath (right for promo time, coincidence, coincidence!) they were all of a sudden good friends? That's all it takes to convince you? If people would bother reading objectively (devoid of wishful thinking) they would realize that Jake is talking about Heath in the GQ article like one would about a costar.

No, I believed they were friends since Heath said it and Jake too in the Italian VF (when Heath was still alive). I never thought they were close friends, but they sure were friends and since they were all connected through BBM he was made a symbolic godfather. I see no reason why he didn't keep in touch with Heath or now with Michelle. Some make a big deal out of all this. *rolling my eyes*

Of course actors say they're all good friends during filming and promo. What else is new. They were reportedly jealousy issues between Jake and Heath during awards season, I wonder what the onset conflict was about. Jealousy, competition, something else?

Huh? The only jealousy report was from Lainey who insisted Jake was jealous of all the attention Heath got. So, you believe that?

Heath hated competition. He mentioned in many interviews how you just can not compare performances or movies. That's why he hated award shows.

If it makes you feel any better Tom, most people on Dlisted think that fumbled answer just proves he's gay.

And just for laughs, this is from one of the comments on Dlisted, filling in the blanks:

"It's...it's okay.... It goes in either direction.I, however, only go in one: gay. I think it's important for every man to find the right woman and every woman (me) to find the right man. Who am I to say what the most important thing in life is? Who am I to deny myself the peen?. The best answer I could give to any of those things is that I really don't know. The best blow job I could give to any man is, well, you don't want to know. Particularly right now in my life. Particularly because I'm gay."

It should be She didn't know if it was any good or not.

Or

quoting her I don't know if it's any good or not.

It's a mix up. She probably meant that it's maybe not so good that there are people who can't watch the movie anymore.

It's probably better to watch it to keep H.'s memory alive.

The uninterested posters scroll past this please, I know it's long, but I want to post Wes Bentley’s tribute in People in its entirety:

The reclusive actor Wes Bentley made a rare public statement Tuesday to remember his friend Heath Ledger as a "man who spread so much spark to so many people."

Capitalizing letters for emphasis, the American Beauty star described Ledger, who was found dead last week, as "a Vibrant Man, a Brave Actor, a Passionate Father and a Friend Forever."

"Heath was an essential piece of my Life," wrote Bentley, 29, who costarred with Ledger in 2002's Four Feathers. "At one point we were as close as two people could get without being blood. That closeness came from sharing a similar, life-altering experience in life at a young age where very few could relate and those who could often were pre-occupied with competition. It would have been isolating, not to mention boring, without him."

Added Bentley, who didn't make another film until five years after Four Feathers, "I don't know if I could have come back without him."

In fact it was because of Bentley turning down a part that Ledger got one of his breakthrough roles: that of the suicidal prison guard's son in Monster's Ball.

"(Wes) was signed up to play that part and he pulled out in the last minute because he really doesn't like to work that much," Ledger said in 2005. "I think they were threatening to sue him. So he asked me to do this for him to get him out of trouble. It was a great opportunity for me and I took it. It was a nice gift from Wes."

In his statement, Bentley urged people to "resist our routine chore of dwelling on a celebrities moments at Death, taking what is essentially inconsequential to a man's definition and making it his Legacy."

"While most of us forget we're alive and are dead on our feet, Heath woke up everyday excited about what was out there to enjoy," wrote Bentley. "He lived in a way that spread so much spark to so many people every day he had. Heath not only lived for himself, if he could've he would Lived for all of us as well. That was his way."

The Arkansas-born Bentley, who parents are both Methodist Ministers, concluded his statement with, "My Prayers are with all who loved him, his Family, Michelle, and Matilda."

Compare it to the way Jake spoke about Heath in the GQ article two years later, and you will draw your own conclusions. If you allow yourselves a moment of objectivity that is. This isn't meant as a criticism of what Jake said about Heath but of how people (choose to) interpret it. Bentely’s tribute is for a friend, Jake's words are about a costar.

Anonymous said...

Thanks 4:39, 5:22.

Jake could have said something when Heath died, or said something when People published its tribute to Heath.

And in talking about Heath, it just seems to me he's making it all about himself, and not in a good way. I agree he waited until PoP so he would get some publicity out of it. If he'd talked about Heath when he died he wouldn't get the same publicity he is now getting by talking for the first time.

Dlisted's Entire Post on Jake said...

It really doesn't bother me that Jakey Gyllenhaal looks like a delicately oven roasted chicken lollipop in granpappy's Easter suit on the cover of GQ. But it does bother me that they oh-so-carefully placed his tie OVER his special bubble boy area. Cock blocking is offensive in any form.

Anybigheadonlittlebody, Jakey talks to GQ (via HuffPo) about everything from Heath Ledger's death to life without a beard to play Mall Madness with in the middle of the night.

Jakey on Heath's death: "I don't really like talking about it. That period of time was...it was difficult. He was very sensitive. He didn't always have a sense of performance in his everyday life. He knew who he was. I think actors very often, they know how to present something, and that's part of their job. I think he was just really sensitive. We often used to do a lot of things together, because people were very interested in him and I think we felt safe together. Even when we did Brokeback and stuff, it was like my work was the only thing that mattered to me. It was like I could only understand or define myself through doing that. Life, I didn't totally understand. And I think I was afraid of life. And I had success in my work, enough success that you could keep going back there. But after that happened...I think I recognized that it was work. And I recognized that this is for real."

Jakey on being single: "It's...it's okay.... It goes in either direction. I think it's important for every man to find the right woman and every woman to find the right man.... Who am I to say what the most important thing in life is? The best answer I could give to any of those things is that I really don't know. Particularly right now in my life."

Every man has to find the right woman and vice versa?! Fuck me in the throat with a Reese Witherspoon romcom. If by the "right woman," Jakey personally means the perfect lady friend who will tell you to brush your teeth because your breath smells like old jizz or who will throw a cocktail in the face of the fuck buddy who did you wrong, then I'm right there with him. Every straight man needs a straight woman just as much as every fruit needs a fly.

Lamey said...

Jakey wants to be on the 5
Lately he really does. Totally campaigning for it.

Jake Gyllenhaal is on the cover of the new GQ just in time for Prince of Persia and while I don’t love the cover shot they chose because it makes his head look way too big, the photos inside are really, really cute. Not hot, but cute. Not look at me I’m so pretty with my mouth open Robert Pattison styles but goofy and silly and dorky and it totally makes up for the pants which, if I’m honest, even with a stylist, still aren’t fitting just right. But he’s just so f-cking cute.

During the interview Jakey talks about Heath Ledger and how his death changed him. He also discusses his relationship with his family and being single (click here to read excerpts), although the article was written before my exclusive that Jakey and Isabel Lucas have been hooking up in Montreal and meeting his mom on the weekend. Or it could be like a trip fling. They’re gorgeous, they’re young, they’ve been temporarily placed in an alternate reality, this is how it starts. As for how it ends and our hopes for an eventual McJakey ... well... I have heard from a LOT of Aussies in the last week or so, all of them with the video below as a reference, from Isabel’s appearance on ROVE, and, uhhh, have you seen Jakey on a talk show? Because he’s loose and really funny and up for anything, and then there’s Isabel who, um, wasn’t and apparently everyone watching back home (she’s Australian) was like, is there anything in her head?

Aw. Maybe she’s just shy?

Anonymous said...

Why should I be ashamed of myself.

Because there is no need to insult Jake like that. He's far from perfect, but he isn't an insensitive bastard either.

Anyone But Kagan said...

Idiotic, rambling, incoherent interviews like that GQ piece are just further proof that Reese ended the bearding prematurely. Notwithstanding the yogurt pictures, I think that both Jake and CAA/Disney would have preferred to have a blonde woman who would do most of the talking on Jake's arm in the run up to PoP.

It was a beautiful and eloquent tribute from Wes, no question about it.

True. I like Jake, and I don't think he's at all insensitive, but I still he think it's odd (that doesn't mean I'm pissed about it) that he didn't issue some kind of statement earlier after Heath died. He wouldn't have had to talk to the press directly because that may have been too hard on him. So, while it's true that this is an opportunity for him to speak of Heath (and from what I've read, I like the things he's said about Heath very much), if he really had wanted to, he could have MADE an opportunity to pay a tribute, like the one Wes did and not simply wait for the next big interview.

Brother-in-law Peter Sarsgaard on a fight he and Jake had, causing them not to speak for ten days: “The nice thing is, for Jake, he doesn’t see having any argument as something that ruins a relationship. He sees it as something that could potentially help one. That’s something I learned from him. I’m extremely close with him. He’s basically my brother.”

Peter further points out, in extolling Jake’s virtues, how unusual he is: “It’s a very difficult thing—or it has been over the course of my life—for me to have respect for people like Jake, who are not self-destructive, who are positive. There are very few actors who have that quality. I go [sighs], ‘Ohhhh, motherf–ker just wants to live—f–k him.’ and my thesis with Jake is that it is genuine. Exactly, Jake spoke when it suited HIM. The idea that he was too distraught to issue a statement I don't buy at this point. Even if it were so, what the heck does he pay his incompetent team for? It seems Wes Bentley and Heath were a lot closer that Jake and Heath so I imagine he was more devastated by Heath's passing but that and being a recluse didn't stop him from releasing a heartfelt tribute for his friend. From what I've read about him, Heath was not the kind of guy who would've liked to be discussed (I don't want so say something else here) in promotional interviews for a summer blockbuster.

Also the quotes re Heath are more about Jake himself than about Heath.

No, he doesn't and EVERYONE knows that. He's not making a political statement and he's talking about the worst subject for him - still don't see a big deal.

"The worst subject" ?? What, that he "just broke up with Reese Witherspoon" ?? Go home, babbler.

Why are you playing stupid?
Worst subject = lying about his sexuality, relationships, closet.

Anonymous said...

he pretty much said the same thing in the GQ interview from 2007. His comment was: I think that it's a man's job to find the right woman, it' the most important thing a man can do.. and then praised his father for picking the right woman.

When the interviewer asks him this time does he still think that it's the most important thing, he says it can go either way and states: I think it's important that every man finds a woman and adds the every woman finds a man, he just isn't sure if it's as important now.

I doubt PR changed the quotes twice, sounds like classic gyllenbabble. I laso think he really believes this, maybe it's something Papa thinks.

Try again, 8:37. This is the excerpt:

But since he split with Reese, does he still feel that way? ”Mmmm,” he says. “It goes in either direction. I think it’s important for every man to find the right woman and every woman to find the right man.”

Anonymous said...

Still lying and pretending like he did 3 years ago. All for his career, for work. Heath's death taught him nothing really in spite of what he claims.

"Finding the right woman" is about Jake trying to sound like a true heterosexual, so yes, that has to do with Jake's hiding in the closet.

Sophia Bush: Southern Discomfort with Don Johnson! said...

One Tree Hill babe Sophia Bush has scored a lead role in the ABC family comedy pilot Southern Discomfort.

The 27-year-old actress will play Haley, the overachieving younger daughter of Don Johnson and Mary Steenbergen. Southern Discomfort centers on a father whose life is “turned upside down when his grown kids move back in with him.”

Deadline reports the CW will either renew One Tree Hill or frosh drama Life Unexpected. If OTH gets picked up again, Sophia will have to kiss this pilot goodbye!

So he didn't say "right women" in the interview? Why does it bother you? Aren't you a moan also? Most of the posters here are. re you filled with such self-hate that you flipout iver the fact that your imaginary BF Jake talked about women like some freeper?

Anonymous said...

Good god. Did ANY of you actually read the interview in GQ? The entire interview and not just the excerpts that were taken out of context and put in that press release announcing the cover story on Jake?? Because if you did, you would be VERY surprised to read that (I kid you not) over half to 3/4 of the interview is spent discussing BBM, working with Heath on it, his feelings about Heath and the impact his death had on him. He barely discusses women.

The article is...fascinating. The interviewer watched the old clip of when the cast of BBM was on Oprah. At one point, Jake alluded to there being some conflict with Heath during some off days. The interviewer asked him about that and Jake recounted an incident when Heath as Ennis was talking about two gay men who lived together and how one of them was murdered as a result. Jake, mindful of how Dustin Hoffman would say things to him before a take to get a rise out of him, was trying to do a similar thing to Heath during his monologue. The thing was it made Heath very upset. Jake said he realizes now he was wrong and that Heath was brilliant in the scene.

The interviewer asked him further about his feelings toward Heath. Jake said he admired him and that (I kid you not--pick up the mag) he was "kind of enamored by him." He also said that Heath was a mover--he always moved.

He mentioned that after BBM he and Heath would keep in touch several times a month. He considered Heath not only a close friend but said "he was my creative partner."

Anonymous said...

That should be woman, although you do moan over Jake!

So he didn't say "right women" in the interview? Why does it bother you?

Read the interview - Jake mentioned women, but he didn't talk about them, he didn't discuss them.

I read he interview, O have the magazine and i didn't find it interesting at all except that it confirmed the rumors that there was some professional tensions between them at the time.

He talkas about women in general, the interviewer was most interested in Heath beause Jake never said anything about Jake when he died. Jake and his PR obviously gave the ok to talk about him.

I find it hard to believe that he thought he was a mentor but I always believed they kept in touch which means IMO that he knew about Heath's problems

That's not saying much since most of male HW were enamored with Heath it appears.

Anonymous said...

I don't know why, but it was important to me for some reason to know that Heath's most important co-star loved him too. No matter who else paid tribute. I know it must have been very personal for Jake to speak about it. But now we know! :)

I am serious. He absolutely said "I was kind of enamored by him." I read it several times. (I read the article at Barnes and Noble). Clearly, Jake's PR flack was not with him when he was being interviewed.

Anonymous said...

It was just so sad and tragic, what happened to Heath, I just needed to know Jake loved him too, for some reason. Yay! :)

Anonymous said...

yes, everybody loved Heath, yet the poor guy died miserable and alone..go figure

Anonymous said...

I know, it doesn't make sense at all! :(

Anonymous said...

Bullshit, you must know nothing about PR. Even if his rep wasn't in the room while he was being interview, the interview was "run through" byt the editors to the reps., they read the whole thing before it was put to print, they ok'd the photos too.

It seems that most of the actors were enomoured of Heath, sojake saying it is no big deal except a handful of fans. enamored, admired, fascinated, etc.

so was Depp, Gosling, DDL, Harnett, Bloom, Damon, Penn, etc.

Clearly 10:03 you are clueless, you must post on DC

Anonymous said...

The interviewer also asked him if he was shooting Brothers when he found out Heath died. Jake said yes and added he doesn't like talking about that period--it was very difficult.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, he and most of HW was enamoured of him, that's why he died alone in some apt.in SOHO on some mattress nude.

Anonymous said...

Glad someone read the entire interview without jumping to judgement. Jake can't win you some of you no matter what he says whether its Heath or his sexuality. I haven't read the entire interview but I did read an excerpt where its said it was difficult to talk about Heath. I think some of you think Heath is the key to Jake's sexuality. And you hide behind Jake's lack of conversation about Heath's death as another reason to hate on Jake because he won't come out when you want him too. How childish is it to stomp your feet and say well I won't go see his movie because he didn't say what I wanted him to say?

You won't support his movie but you knit pick his every word. You will go to see SATC but be right back on this blog obsessing over Jake.

Are the same actors supposed to keep a watch 24/7. If there is any blame its with the lady that made the phone call to the Olsen twin first instead of calling 911.

People usually die alone, I'm sure Heath did not plan on dying that day.

Anonymous said...

DSF is dead news and was never big news to begin with - if Naomi was going to "deployed" it would have been immediately after - not weeks later when no one is even talking about it.

Thank you, 10:11pm. It's about time somebody called out on this babble going on.

I'm sorry, but I would gladly have read of this BBM lovefest extravaganza at a different time than just before PoP coming out.

The fact that it is being used as a teaser for the entire interview is a bad way to have it put out there.

And he could have used any other term regarding people needing to find their special someone or love of their life. Instead, he made it a point to narrow it down to man finding woman. Very Ward Cleaver-ish of him. That sentence right there tainted the entire interview for me.

And I have been looking forward to PoP. Wanted it to do well. Moved past Avon Lady. And then he goes and says something like that and it just recalls it all again.

Dictionary.com said...

I think it is a big deal myself :) I'm not surprised that he admired Heath and was enamored by him - it was obvious by the way he looked at him, but I am surprised he admitted it. Good for Jake for opening up about that :)

–verb (used with object)
1.to fill or inflame with love (usually used in the passive and fol. by of or sometimes with): to be enamored of a certain lady; a brilliant woman with whom he became enamored.
2.to charm or captivate.

—Synonyms
2. fascinate, bewitch, enchant, enrapture.

Huh? No, I am not going to stop complaining. What he said was intentional PR bullshit, designed to make him look like a 100% heterosexual man, someone who is so straight that the gay world doesn't even exist. That quote, that LIE of his, belongs on the same plane as the "Jake really wants to date girls" line used a couple months ago. Whether he said the GQ crap or if PR plugged it in, it's all part of the Jake Is Straight brainwash - and he's responsible for the promoting the bullshit just as much as his people are. IMO you need to stop making excuses for him, and recognize that he's a liar and a scammer, all in the name of the almighty dollar.

GQ might be out but in major metro areas and a few bookstores. Who knows in what podunk small-town the homophobic and small-minded UV/FL lives, and if IHJ is as eager to post Jake crap like they used to....like back when they were so enamored of him they would wait outside starving in an Arctic blizzard for days to buy a magazine of him on the cover.

The general reaction across the web to Jake's cover is pretty dismal. And most of his comments did not go over well either. He has said that his dad used to help him prepare but I guess he is on his own now that the family is split. You cant think straight and talk intelligently while try to wordsmith every word, sentence, thought before you say it so that you can hide your true nature. Be trying to hide who he really is, he just comes off as incomprehensible. Usually he at least qualifies as cute, but some of these pictures do him no justice at all. His PR can never get it right. Even the babblers are split on whether the pics/article are good or not.

We haven't been exactly smelling a genuine or critical hit with Jake Gyllenhaal's upcoming silly action job, Prince of Persia. But now even Jake's media is getting kinda fake-looking! Gorgeous G's just-released GQ cover is totally awkward.

Is this some kind of aftereffect from hanging out too much with Ms. Saccharine-Smile, Reese Witherspoon? Probably.

But there are bigger issues going on here:

Like what's next for Jakey's love life. He's most recently been linked to Transformers beauty Isabel Lucas, supposedly sneaking in some smooch time together up in Montreal and even inviting her to lunch with his mom.

But here's what Gyllenhaal tells the mag about being single:

"It's...it's OK....It goes in either direction. I think it's important for every man to find the right woman and every woman to find the right man....Who am I to say what the most important thing in life is? The best answer I could give to any of those things is that I really don't know. Particularly right now in my life."

See, this is the kinda Jake we can get on board with.

Who isn't indecisive about love at his age and in his biz? We're holding our breath he won't be parading Ms. Lucas around on, say, the Prince of Persia carpet just to try and prove he's content in his love life. We'll believe it more if he takes some time for himself.

Howevs, one thing more troublesome than who Jake may or may not be dating is how the hell are we going to save his damn career, 'cause we all love him so much?

It's been stale ever since the inception of Gyllenspoon, when they made Rendition, which really tested us major Gyllenhaal fans. (Heck, Meryl Streep and Sandra Bullock have more heat when they kiss than those two.)

Gyllenhaal's at this best with brooding, a bit tortured, edgy/funny. Anybody see Jarhead? Jake's wicked good when he's got a little dark twist to work with. I'm sorry, kiddie action hero for Disney? Am I the only one here who doesn't see this?

Of course, yes, yes, if I'm wrong about Persia, I will be the first to admit it, promise.

I'll tell ya what (onscreen, at least) shows a lot more promise is the movie J.G. filmed last fall, Love and Other Drugs. Based on the novel, Hard Sell: The Evolution of a Viagra Salesman, it's got Jakey surviving the killer (really) world of pharmaceuticals with a little Anne Hathaway messiness to help keep things interesting.

That's a movie I want to see a Jake action figure from. And a killer photo session with a feature in Interview, concurrently; forget this khaki-jacket magazine nonsense.

This mainstream cover boy look is just not the real Jake.

That's Not Really Jake on GQ—or Is It?

Anonymous said...

Of course, yes, yes, if I'm wrong about Persia, I will be the first to admit it, promise.

Fingers crossed!

Jake Gyllenhaal to play Joe Namath in biopic said...

Jake Gyllenhaal’s been a gay cowboy, a white Persian, a Marine, a Marine’s brother, a bubble boy, and now he’ll be Broadway Joe (aren’t you impressed I can read IMDB?). Gyllenhaal has actually been attached to the project like Andy Garcia’s malformed twin for a couple years now. The only new development is that, according to some Pajiba dork I pantsed in the quad, director James Mangold has been hired, which may kick the project back into high gear.

The project is finally finding some traction, although at this point, Universal Pictures is looking to take another pass at David Hollander’s script before it moves into production. Where that puts it in Mangold’s queue is an open question — he doesn’t have a go project at the time, and once Gyllenhall finishes filming Source Code for Duncan Jones, he’s got nothing else ready for lensing yet, either. Moreover, the fact that Mangold just came aboard Namath in recent weeks (after it stalled for two years) suggests that it could be warming up for production soon.

Joe Namath is of course the kid from Beaver Falls, PA who rode quarterbacking stints at the University of Alabama under Bear Bryant and the New York Jets (famously guaranteeing victory over the Colts in Super Bowl III) into a literal beaver fall. Or would it be a figurative beaver fall?

Point is, there were lots of vaginas around. And probably they were really hairy ones, as that was the style at the time. Another guy who famously likes hairy vaginas is Mo’Nique’s husband. Where was I? Right, Joe Namath. Following his playing career, he again made headlines for trying to kiss sideline reporter Suzy Kolber on live TV and having a nose that resembles a red potato. Jake Gyllenhaal seems too short and stocky to play him, but one thing they both have in common is sore knees. Oh right, like you didn’t know I would this into a gay joke somehow.

FilmDrunk

Anonymous said...

Since when is Jake short and stocky?? Namath is definitely not a pretty boy, though. There's going to have to be some unflattering make-up work done there. babblers will not be happy, lol. Namath obviously had talent on the football field, but he came across as a cliche 'ladies man' blowhard.
