Jake is a walking stereotype for a deeply closeted man. Anyone else would have stopped with the story about crushing on Plimpton, the only reason he added that bit about first loving girls is to prove he's straight straight straight damn it. Sort of like when his pr person made the point of saying he was dating girls, not just dating.
Yes 4:55 Kiki knows about movie roles. We're not talking about mechanics or historical facts or being a professor; we are talking about having an eye to choose the right scripts, roles and even knowing what costars are good to be with; it's an innate, intuitive sense that many actors don't have. And yes like it or not actors who hang around each other talk about potential roles; they influence one another for better or worse.
Yeah it was something like "Jake wants to date girls." I'm surprised the source (PR) didn't just say "Jake loves vaginas and he craves pussy 24/7." Well maybe next time.
...and then takes the plunge and tests the water. I still hope that Jake will be the one who proves that an out gay male actor can be successful. It is about talent. Make good movies and people will come see them. The people who hate gay men probably dont go to the movies anyway. and girls just like good looking guys. Gay or Str8.
4:45PM I wonder what those two French Olympic biathloners are doing tonight...
Hm, Vincent Jay is still str8. But if you'd like to see a "love declaration" a la francaise, you can't get better than the energetic love making in this short made enirely on a cell phone. It's about a narrator, who is an actor ("A French Village", "L'Odisee de L'Amour") and his lover, a TV director (who specializes in opera recorded live, assist. to Patrice Chereau).

So true. You'd think they would realize that it's obvious that they are trying too hard and it just ends up sounding contrived and awkward - especially when it's clear as a bell that you generated way more heat gazing at your male former co-star than you ever had looking at your former supposed girlfriend.
Anne's always been a big fan of the gays. She's close with Queerty's former editor Andrew Belonsky and spoke with him about the challenges of being gay early in our beginning.

Anne Hathaway Loves The Gays
... AB: Do you think that celebrities really influence public opinion?
AH: I don't think celebrities influence public opinion, but I do think celebrities influence what people are talking about. You know, if you are well known and you have an interest in something, you can at least bring it to other people's attention. To look at a completely unrelated thing, The OC – in that period, Death Cab for Cutie went from being an underground thing to this widely popular band amongst a younger generation. That show wasn't telling them to like it, it was just saying, "Here's music that we like". Maybe it's not an influence on public opinion, but I do think celebrity endorsement does count for something. ...
AB: Do you remember when you first knew about gay people and what "gay" was?
AH: Oh, yes. Well, the first people to come visit my mom in the hospital after I was born were her friends, Sydney and Jack and – well, at that point they had been in a committed relationship for a few years, now they've been in a relationship I think for over thirty years – so they were family friends. When my parents explained what sex was to me, I didn't really – it didn't occur to me to ask, "Well, what about other people?" But then I think as I got older, maybe around five and six, I began to say, "Sidney and Jack kiss. How does that factor in?" And my parents said, "Well, sometimes men love men and women love women and sometimes they love both," so there was definitely an awareness of it, but my parents had such a relaxed, low-key and definitely accepting attitude, I never realized that it was anything controversial. ...
AB: Rupert Everett a few months ago made some comments about how Hollywood still works against people's sexuality. Do you get that impression that Hollywood condones the closet?
AH: Since I'm not a gay person, I don't really know the pressure that people must be under. I'd like to think that we're getting to a place where can be very honest and open about who you are and how you love. I think it's not necessarily Hollywood that encourages people to go into the closet – I don't even know how to answer this question! Since I'm not a gay person and since I've never felt any pressure in that respect, I don't think that I'm qualified to answer that question.
AB: You know, it may not even be Hollywood. It may just be what people perceive – what people project the American perception to be. You know, if I'm a young actor on Gossip Girl and I'm just coming up and I don't know how the public will react to my gay ways, I can understand why that would instill fear in somebody. I suppose.
AH: Ideally we could all be ourselves and love the way we love. But, quite frankly, actors being closeted is not as simple as, "I don't want anyone to know, because I'm ashamed" or "I'll never be famous." I don't think it's as simple as that. It's really hard to put yourself out there. It's really hard to be comfortable with the idea that people won't accept you and, in fact, it's really nobody's business is you don't want to tell anyone about your sexuality. Not that you should have to hide it, but if you want that to be a private part of your life – gay, straight, whatever. I can imagine it must be really hard to realize that people, without knowing you, just because of their own prejudices, will hate you. I don't judge the individual, but I'd like to see us get to the place as a society where we can just love each other and just be cool with each other.
Damn that soccer pic is so sweet. Thanks for posting it. Can you imagine American guys doing that. American guys are scared to death about sexuality. Its 100# str8 or else.
The 21st Annual GLAAD Media Awards will be held in Los Angeles on Saturday, April 17, 2010, starting at 4:30pm PT.
The GLAAD Media Awards recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives.
"The narrator (Samuel) discovered in childhood that he loved his older cousin (Yvan) totally, like one only loves at 6 years. But he learned to dissimulate his feelings during their last family reunion to enjoy the sheer pleasure of loving in secret. He associates pleasure with suffering -- he also likes his opened wounds.
Later he decides to multiply his sufferings/pleasures by dating (a kind of) French Craiglist. This became an obsession -- this "Call of the D*ck." ("C'est l'appel de la Bite.") One is feeling emptied only to need refilling again.
But for the last four years there was only sex with Stephane, which is exquisite. He needs sex immediately, without a reason or explanation, like a stolen pleasure. Repeatedly. Stephane calls to say he's fine, works away as usual, in the arts. He's busy but can find time to text.
Samuel is frustrated -- pleasured and annoyed in the same time. In the end he thinks it's not that important (how he takes this): He loves Stephane. He craves him. He needs reassurances, the joy of knowing that his lover exists. For now."
Even NPH said he dated a number of women before accepting his gayness. Most gay guys dated females in their youth. Jake has also told a story about his first kiss when a girl put her tongue in his mouth and kissed him at 8 or 9. Notice its always girls that pursued him, not the other way around. Even his sister set him up with Kirsten. Left to his own devices, women are not of interest to him sexually.
Jake’s personal trainer for Prince of Persia was Simon Waterson who is the former Royal Marine that has worked with Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig on the James Bond films.
For his role in Prince of Persia Jake had to ensure that is his training created the physique of a warrior and not a bodybuilder. He trained to build athletic muscle that was fast and agile. This form of training places more emphasis on muscular endurance.
For several months before shooting Prince of Persia Jake worked out 3 times a day, 6 days a week. Here is his daily workout routine that Simon Waterson set him:
• Wake up at 5.30am and eat a banana and some nuts and drink a strong black coffee. • At 6am he would do 90 minutes of intensive cardio training and core workouts. He would do hill sprints while wearing a weighted vest, followed by crunches at the top of the hill, and then gently run down the hill and repeat. Hill workouts are fantastic for building leg strength and endurance. • Post workout breakfast: Omelette and protein shake to help with muscle repair. • For lunch Jake would eat a meal that included a healthy protein source, such as tuna, a leafy salad and potato. • In the evening he would do one hour of specific resistance training including pull ups, press ups, core exercises and plenty of stretching. • The workout would be followed by a massage and then a light dinner, usually soup and another protein shake.
As Jake was a slight build before the training it was vital to ensure that he did not over-eat while building muscle. It is very easy to eat too much when doing strength training which can lead to increased fat levels. Your diet still needs to be lean and calorie controlled to ensure that you provide your muscles with the fuel they need without giving your fat reserves a boost. However, as part of the training regime some healthy treats are allowed, such as dark chocolate and some wine. An absolute strict rule is no refined sugar.
Idk I'd be hating life if I had to go thru that regime. And you gotta wonder how it adversely affects a body long term if Jake has to do it off and on if there's POP sequels.
This time clips of my fave Jake moments on the Donnie Darko audio commentary. From “my teeth are itching” to his spot on Christopher Walken impression.
There's an ONTD post of Reese shopping with kids and bf. Remember when we read Jake is a fan of soccer? Guess what she bought the boy? Pop up mini soccer goals. LOL.
I saw that too 8:55, lol. What I found interesting was how you really can't tell if the guy is Jake or Jim (Toothy or Toth!) ~ just put a hat, shades, stubble, floppy clothes on a tall brown haired guy and voila, he's Reese's bf!
I want to know what Jake's routine was between lunch and dinner. Do yoga, go to coffee houses and work out his eyes, eat lots of lettuce and water, masturbate?
looks like a couple days ago, an innocent lasher, in commenting upon Jake's "enamored" remark about Heath, posted in the "Serious Jake" thread at DC: "Oh that he could have expanded on that comment. My Collins Dictionary says of the word enamoured;(Brit spelling) ...to inspire with love; captivate."
Talk about a thread killer, lol. So far UV and LG and everyone else have very studiously ignored it.
I'm surprised that "I was kind of enamored by him (Heath)" actually got past Jake's PR flacks/handlers. Maybe they thought because Heath is dead, it would be safe for Jake to say he had been enamored by him. But wow! Jake really did confirm what we always suspected about his feelings toward Heath.
10:17 AM, yeah, I'm still surprised at Jake's honesty. Would be interesting to know more about it and his friendship with Heath, hopefully it won't take 50 years until we get to read his memoir.
Yes Heath is dead, has been for over 2 years. No one outside of a handful of brokies are going on about it. They must be puzzled why it hasn't gotten any traction despite. Well maybe because it's no big deal, that's why his reps let it go through.
Brokies live in a bubble, between DC and a few other sites.
A brokie started a thread on DL to create interest but nada, it's just brokies posting on it.
I doubt UV and LG are pissed even though you wish them to be because you are pissed that there is no chatter bout the remark, no one cares.
Heath is dead, you can say things like that about a dead person, plus 2 years later no one gives a shit except the brokies, if he said it a few weeks or months after, then yes.
Jake and his PR aren't dumb but you sure the hell are.
Heath is dead, you can say things like that about a dead person, plus 2 years later no one gives a shit except the brokies, if he said it a few weeks or months after, then yes.
It doesn't matter if it's been 2 years or 10 years or if according to you no one gives a shit. What matters is that it's true and Jake admitted it. It pisses you and the babblers off and you know it.
Let's not forget one thing here, Jake went on record with saying he always was kind of enamored by a MAN. Dead or alive it doesn't fricken matter, Heath was a guy.
Dead or alive it doesn't fricken matter, Heath was a guy.
They became close friends and on top of that were very intimate with each other (kissing, cuddling etc...) on screen. Many could see it as harmless and interprete it as a straight guy man crush on a co-star/friend he admired. No biggie, you know?
Kirsten's advice doesn't matter much when you can talk to Maggie or Jamie Lee Curtis (for example).
Jamie Lee "Because I know I'm an addict, and I know I'm an alcoholic" Curtis? "I'm a layperson. I barely got out of high school. I have no business telling people what to do or my big philosophy on life." Curtis?
The one who lets her freak flag fly high? She was addicted to prescription drugs and alcohol in her 40s, entered a sobriety program, and is now a crusading recovering alcoholic. She's anti-makeup, anti-Palin, only wears black or white, has posed topless for AARP mag, and is an author of a bunch of kid's books. She also writes incoherent columns for HuffPo that tell people what to do. She still has a great body, and she's still nuts. I love her!
Kiki is just like Jamie Lee: interesting. Reese will never be interesting.
To many, yes. That's not the point, though. It still IS a big deal even if only a handful care. Jake could've said "I was always fond of him", "I always cared about him", "I always liked him" or such, but he chose "enamored" to describe his feelings. I find it hard to believe he doesn't know what it means.
I find it hard to believe he doesn't know what it means.
I like Jake and I think he's cute, but he doesn't always come across as the smartest cookie around (and I'm being nice here.) But anyway, Jake most likely knew what it means and was open about his feelings for Heath. I respect that. And I'm glad he finally spoke about him, to end all the endless speculation and to shut some fans up who actually didn't like the idea that Jake may have been a friend of someone with a serious drug problem. It's great he mentioned that he admired him and that he was like his creative partner. So, thanks Jake for shutting some idiots up (meaning some posters on DCF mostly).
If dopey Jake doesn't know what he means his PR does.
It no biggie because to the handful that do care the brokies, well PR doesn't give a fuck, period. If they did they would have issued a response from Jake 2 years ago.
No one made a reference to anyone outside BBM online fandom, so that's not even relevant.
UV, ... etc are all living in a bubble.
lol, changing your story already. You just said UV, etc. didn't care, weren't pissed off, now the excuse is they're in a bubble. Who cares? The point is UV'S hatred/resentment of Heath is well-documented and she especially can't stand anyone complimenting him or his acting, especially Jake. She didn't even like when he made complimentary remarks about Heath's acting in that Australian Brother's interview. In her opinion, Heath was beneath Jake in every way and it pisses her off no end that he even admired him and said so, forget about the enamored part.
Of course he knows what it means. Jake's words may ramble and his thoughts come out in a jumble, but he knows vocabulary. He does crossword puzzles. He is a word guy.
Who the fuck is UV, LG, ULI,Anouska, Monk, BBMswear aka Lisa, etc. Are these real people or slash characters? Weird that this blog is anon. but people seem to know who the fuck everyone is talking about.
Sometimes the best way of hiding a subject is to talk openly about it.
If public think that Jake has no qualms about saying he was "enamored" of Heath, then they will also think that is "no biggie".
This applied as well when Jake took the part of Jack Twist. The line of thinking was: "If he is really gay he wouldn't have done the movie where his character is gay too"
His silence on Heath's passing seemed very odd to me at the time. Now that he is freely speaking about it, I don't have much of the feeling that he is hiding something about his friendship with Heath anymore.
Nobody outside of the BBM online fandom gives a fuck and that's what is pissing you off and you know it.
No, assbrains, it's only pissing you off. LOL. 'Enamored' has no traction outside of the Jake bubble because 1) Everyone and their uncle has already said they loved Heath Ledger, 2) It's been well known for some time that Jake had a thing for Heath, 3) No one in the real world actually cares what Jake Gyllenhaal says - they just want him to take his shirt off.
Main Entry: enamored Part of Speech: adjective Definition: in love Synonyms: amorous, attracted, besotted, bewitched, captivated, charmed, crazy about, devoted, dotty, enchanted, enraptured, entranced, fascinated, fond, gone*, has a thing about, hooked, infatuated, loving, nuts about, silly about, smitten, stuck on, swept off one's feet, taken, wild about.
I'm asking because the postr at 11:22 seems to take JL Curtis for being anti-Palin among other things. Also during the '08 election there were some ratehr nasty, racist comments posted here about Obama and I recognized some of the rantings from some DC posters, Log cabin rethugs. I would assume they are Palin supporters.
Reese is a registered democrat, supported H. Clinton and I assume supporoted Obama since she attended a fund raiser so i don't get the connection unless you are refering to her fictional character in Election.
So come on fess up, come out of the closet! It's all anon. here, someoen here must have atttend one of those teabagger freeper rallies.
12:49, you're spot on with all of that. lol at 3) No one in the real world actually cares what Jake Gyllenhaal says - they just want him to take his shirt off. True. I can't imagine there are stampedes to buy the latest GQ, especially with that cover. I do wonder how it's selling in comparison to their other issues.

If public think that Jake has no qualms about saying he was "enamored" of Heath, then they will also think that is "no biggie".
What public? Outside of Jake's fandom very few bought the magazine or care about what Jake has to say about Heath. The quotes about Heath that were picked up by other web sites did not include that little sentence so basically only Jake's loyal followers would know about it. If Jake really cared about what his fans/BBM fandom thinks and wanted to dispel speculation he would've said something two years ago, not now.
Wow, you really shouldn't post shit like that if you want to make a point, LOL!
It was supposed to be "and" instead of "or" and should have read differently. What I wanted to say is - outside of Jake's fandom, out of the people who bought GQ very few care about what Jake has to say about Heath.
GQ (originally Gentlemen's Quarterly) is a monthly men's magazine focusing upon fashion, style, and culture for men, through articles on food, movies, fitness, sex, music, travel, sports, technology, and books.
The magazine reported an average U.S. paid circulation of 824,334 issues per month, of which 609,238 were subscriptions. 73% of the readership are men, and 63% are single. 65% of readers had an income of $50,000 or greater; and 25% had an income greater than $75,000.
The one 12:43 PM is alluding to, Jake hiding something about his friendship with Heath. But other than here I haven't seen any such thing.
There probably was no secret about his friendship with Heath. Otherwise Michelle would have noticed, but she seemed very fond of Jake. Now, she wouldn't be if they both fooled her and around with each other. She's not stupid after all.
There probably was no secret about his friendship with Heath.
Exactly, there is no secret and there was no speculation (other than on WFT2) so back to my point, why would Jake use the "enamored" line as a PR move (according to 12:43 PM)?
It's hard to find out how well a magazine is selling. There are companies that track that information, but they sell it to subscribers to their service, and it is not cheap. Sometimes you'll read how a particular magazine did in stories, or in year-end magazine sale wrap-ups. Usually see it discussed more in terms of the tabloids and who sells and who doesn't; sometimes fashion magazines, but not too often with a magazine like GQ.
If I had to speculate, I would say Details is flying off the shelfs, but can't see GQ doing the same thing with that awful cover.
Exactly, there is no secret and there was no speculation (other than on WFT2) so back to my point, why would Jake use the "enamored" line as a PR move (according to 12:43 PM)?
IA, it's BS that someone says it's a PR move. Jake was honest about his feelings for Heath.
"There probably was no secret about his friendship with Heath. Otherwise Michelle would have noticed, but she seemed very fond of Jake. Now, she wouldn't be if they both fooled her and around with each other. She's not stupid after all."
I agree, unless something happened between them after Heath and Michelle broke up. Unlikely but not impossible.
Jake hiding something about his friendship with Heath.
I don't see how Jake was ever "hiding" his friendship with Heath. You don't call someone your best friend if you're hiding a friendship - and I don't think anyone seriously believes there was anything more than that going on between them. The fact that he admired Heath and was enamored by Heath is obvious from so many pictures but it's nice to see Jake confirm it with words and not shy away from saying that.
I think one of the most interesting things about Jake is how he can be so open and so seemingly candid, but yet so guarded and hidden at the same time. I don't think much "slips" out of his mouth accidentally (get your minds out of the gutter, lol).
"Jake is a walking stereotype for a deeply closeted man."
Correction. He is a walking stereotype of an ambitious, closeted gay man who is under enormous pressure to quell gay rumors even though he has no problem being gay himself. He's like the main character in the film 'Straight Jacket'.
Then tell me why you think Jake is lying about practically everything about his life but we should take his sayings about Heath as the irrefutable truth. Maybe he was being honest, who knows? But why is wrong to at least, being a little bit skeptical? Is not like Jake is the king of honesty, after all.
Then tell me why you think Jake is lying about practically everything about his life but we should take his sayings about Heath as the irrefutable truth
Because he has no reason to lie about his feelings for Heath - what is the upside for him of saying that he was enamored by Heath? I can't think of any. And, besides, I didn't need to hear Jake say that to know that was true - there were lots of pictures of them together that told me the same thing.
On the other hand, it's no secret why closeted gay celebrities lie, especially men who are known as, and are marketed as, heartthrobs (a description that I do believe Jake cherishes). The upside for lying is that they protect their careers, keep their heartthrob status, keep making movies, increase their chance of bigger box office success and keep moving up the HW food chain.
You think that hiding a boyfriend (maybe also a baby, altough i don't really believe that one) is a small thing compared to over-gush about a dead friend?
Enamored also means greatly admire, respect, think the world of, even be a bit starstruck by. What he said is what most people would say, if they worked with someone who was such a bright star and who died tragically and much too soon. That's why there hasn't been a big deal made about the comment.
It does if he still thinks of remembers him the way he was then, when asked about Heath. A bright, talented star, who Jake greatly admired and looked up to, and got to work with on probably one of their most important and memorable films. It wouldn't have anything to do with the tragedy itself.
Enamored also means greatly admire, respect, think the world of, even be a bit starstruck by. What he said is what most people would say, if they worked with someone who was such a bright star and who died tragically and much too soon. That's why there hasn't been a big deal made about the comment.
Well, he used the word "admire" so if he only meant "admire" he wouldn't have had to add the part about being enamored. Jake is also a star, so I don't think he meant "starstruck." It's clear from pictures he was captivated by him and fascinated, too, and had a crush on him. No, it doesn't necessarily mean he was deeply madly in love with him, but it's definitely not what "most" people would say. What does being "enamored" have to do with someone dying tragically, anyway?
Lots of male costars/actors talked about Heath but I don't remember seeing "enamored" used to describe how they felt about him. But I love how some posters are trying to spin something that was plain as the nose on Jake's face long before he admitted it.
Remember that picture with Heath and Kiki at an Oscar party before the BBM shoot started and Jake already looked pretty captivated with Heath? Question for old Jake fans, does anyone know when Jake and Heath were cast, end of 2003/beginning of 2004? It would be interesting to know.
It was also obvious that Heath really liked Jake. I don't understand why anyone would have anything against their friendship especially now that Heath is dead and he's no longer a 'threat'.
Am I the only person who's getting sick of Jake promoting PoP? Between the bearding (actual and virtual), the publicity stunts, the festival screenings, the toys, the on-set pictures and the rambling, incoherent, implicitly anti-gay interviews, I'm just about done with this guy. All this hype for a movie that may, or may not, be that good. Just show the bloody film already and be done with it.
Am I the only person who's getting sick of Jake promoting PoP?
It's an expensive family movie that requires a lot of promotion, so Jake is just doing his job and trying to please Disney. I'm sure that Jake's TV interviews will be fun.
What does being "enamored" have to do with someone dying tragically, anyway?
Absolutely nothing. I don't know why you made that associated. Nothing like that was implied. All I meant was enamored has several shades of meanings. I didn't list them all; it doesn't mean I don't think it. Yes, I have always felt Jake loved Heath and was a close friend. The looking up to, star struck, fascinated with, all that, all the shades of meaning is what I meant. Maybe there was a romantic element, maybe not; but if Jake is so closeted, why would he blurt it out in GQ? He's not a child rebelling against his parents; he could just come out and say it. There's no need to rebel against his PR - he's an adult and could put a stop to it at any time. You have to make choices in your life.
What do you mean by a "threat"? Like making Jake to become an addict too?
Sure, you can add that to the list, too. According to some people Jake would've never been friends with a scum of the earth junkie like Heath. What about RDJ and Kiki? Jake's crush on Heath would make Heath a threat in some posters' eyes if he were alive, was what I meant, although I don't see why since Heath was straight.
"Maybe there was a romantic element, maybe not; but if Jake is so closeted, why would he blurt it out in GQ."
Maybe because dealing with the subject in a casual,"not a big deal" tone nobody would think that he is hiding something. It doesn't mean that his words aren't real, though.
Well, at least we now know, or have our thoughts confirms, that Jake thought the world of Heath, and loved him. Maybe HW doesn't use the word adored, but they do use the word enamored. Good for Jake - I never doubted it for a minute about Heath.
Maybe HW doesn't use the word adored, but they do use the word enamored.
Can you be more specific, give us some examples? And do you mean Jake used enamored instead of adored because HW does it and it's trendy or something? If yes, this is called PR, you know so it doesn't mean shit. Back to square one.
I meant that people use words unique to them to describe their own feelings. You or I might not use the same word (I would tho I think, just imagining working with Heath). Enamored to me has a magic quality to it, like you have been charmed by someone. Whether it means romantic or platonic love in this case, I don't know. Looking back on that time, Jake said it was magic.
Maybe he meant that they were always together in that remote location in Alberta, all of the crew, living and breathing the movie, never much of a chance to leave the "set" and so remained sort of in character a lot. They say that love scenes are not as romantic as they would seem and more clinical, with cameramen, retakes, whatever. But who knows? I would think it would be hard not to respond if you had an attraction, saying the lines and being into the moment. Especially what Michelle said, holding each other after one of the scenes. Who knows? :)
IDK if anyone else noticed and maybe it was in the script, but in the second scene in the tent when Jack lays on top of Ennis and he finishes the kiss, Ennis is leaning forward as if he didn't want the kiss to end yet. I always found it cute, but never anyone mentioned it.
7 takes one side, 6 takes the other side, and 3 takes from William's point of view. This was then followed by an additional 5 or 6 takes at William's insistence
What does being "enamored" have to do with someone dying tragically, anyway? Absolutely nothing. I don't know why you made that associated. Nothing like that was implied.
Here's why I made the association. Your words: "What he said is what most people would say, if they worked with someone who was such a bright star and who died tragically and much too soon" - because your words made a direct connection between what he said and how Heath died. Maybe you didn't mean it that way, but that's how it came out. I'm not even sure what you're arguing against really. You don't think Jake's a closeted gay man because he used the word enamored? That doesn't follow. All he did was speak the truth of his feelings - it doesn't mean he was "in love" with Heath, but he obviously loved him and had special feelings for him. As he said, he was his "creative partner." He was clearly trying to distinguish Heath from being just any friend and that his feelings for him were unique and special.
It wasn't a direct connection with how Heath died, I was trying to say that Jake's looking back on his times with Heath and reflecting on the loss, that Heath was special and unique. Of course we know that Heath was not just any friend. It has nothing to do with how it happened, just that it happened. He said things that you would say when you lose someone who meant a lot to you is what I meant. You would use heartfelt terms, it would be difficult and sad.
It has nothing to do with how it happened, just that it happened.
I should add that the only circustances that matter are that it was too soon and Heath was too young, and had so much going for him. That's the tragedy, not any other circumstances. Jake remembered good times between them, and also it was difficult and he doesn't like talking about it.
And no, I don't necessarily think using the word "enamored" means Jake is a closeted gay man.
Huh? No one said that. I know I didn't. It doesn't prove he's gay and it doesn't prove he's not gay. That's not even the point. But you implied that because he used the word "enamored" that he couldn't be a closeted gay man. Again, your words: "Maybe there was a romantic element, maybe not; but if Jake is so closeted, why would he blurt it out in GQ?"
Again, I'm not sure what you're still arguing against, but there's definitely a communication problem, lol.

4:46, you don't know much about the arts do you.
Kirsten knows much about the arts or about anything?! LMAO
OT but it's LOL seeing people get fighting mad because a volcano ruined their flight plans. How dare mother nature interfere with their schedule!
OT but it's LOL seeing people get fighting mad because a volcano ruined their flight plans.
I'm not laughing because Mother Nature showed us how fragile our technology can be.
"Sort of like when his pr person made the point of saying he was dating girls, not just dating."
^^^^
LOL! I remember. that was so funny!
Like when Lainey was writing about Reeke romance of the century and, just to make it perfectly clear, added that Jake isn't gay, lol.
Kiki knows about movie roles.
Kirsten knows much more about weed than acting or movie roles.
Yeah it was something like "Jake wants to date girls." I'm surprised the source (PR) didn't just say "Jake loves vaginas and he craves pussy 24/7." Well maybe next time.
And yes like it or not actors who hang around each other talk about potential roles; they influence one another for better or worse.
You make it sound like Dunst was the only person or the only actress in Jake's life - she wasn't.
Well maybe next time.
Don't give them new ideas! lol
Jake sees a vagina
^^^ That thing is disgusting.
Gawd the beard's expression is ugly. Can you imagine waking up next to that?!
...and then takes the plunge and tests the water. I still hope that Jake will be the one who proves that an out gay male actor can be successful. It is about talent. Make good movies and people will come see them. The people who hate gay men probably dont go to the movies anyway. and girls just like good looking guys. Gay or Str8.
You got that right, Tom! IA

Sort of like when his pr person made the point of saying he was dating girls, not just dating.
Not even PR persons can avoid Freudian slips :)
Vincent Jay is still str8
Yeah right.
What a beautiful video, the French one above. What a handsome guy. I wish there was a translation. :)
Why is he crying?
I don't know - I hope he didn't lose his lover in some way. :(

That video is just as beautiful as any movie lovemaking I have ever seen, passionate, romantic, even romantic sounds.

Amateurish translation for the link at 5:58 PM:
For now."
Another (subtitled) short here --Samuel returns to his high school in Lorraine at the border France-Germany:

Even NPH said he dated a number of women before accepting his gayness. Most gay guys dated females in their youth. Jake has also told a story about his first kiss when a girl put her tongue in his mouth and kissed him at 8 or 9. Notice its always girls that pursued him, not the other way around. Even his sister set him up with Kirsten. Left to his own devices, women are not of interest to him sexually.
Can you believe it's been already a year since Coachella? Jake probably still can't get the smell out of his fingers.
Time flies when you're having fun!
Jake Gyllenhaal Workout
How Jake Gyllenhaal Bulked Up For Prince of Persia – Diet and Workouts
Wake up at 5.30am and eat a banana and some nuts
Two nuts?
banana and some nuts
:)
Two dirty minds!
A regular huge banana not one of those minis.
Duh!
Idk I'd be hating life if I had to go thru that regime. And you gotta wonder how it adversely affects a body long term if Jake has to do it off and on if there's POP sequels.
LOL dark chocolate doesn't have refined sugar?!
Really good dark chocolate doesn't, and is bitter and healthy.
Idk I'd be hating life if I had to go thru that regime.
Waking up at 5.30am? Me too!
Back with my digital camera.
This time clips of my fave Jake moments on the Donnie Darko audio commentary. From “my teeth are itching” to his spot on Christopher Walken impression.
Jake Gyllenhaal Donnie Darko Commentary
I wonder what steep hill he ran up in LA.
There's an ONTD post of Reese shopping with kids and bf.
Remember when we read Jake is a fan of soccer? Guess what she bought the boy? Pop up mini soccer goals. LOL.
I saw that too 8:55, lol. What I found interesting was how you really can't tell if the guy is Jake or Jim (Toothy or Toth!) ~ just put a hat, shades, stubble, floppy clothes on a tall brown haired guy and voila, he's Reese's bf!
idk, doesn't sound bad to me at all, even with the extensive workouts. I already get up at 5:30am, and I'm not getting paid millions to do it, lol.
I already get up at 5:30am
That is not for humans! I am a night person :)
• For lunch Jake
• In the evening
I want to know what Jake's routine was between lunch and dinner. Do yoga, go to coffee houses and work out his eyes, eat lots of lettuce and water, masturbate?
The starvation diet along with the three workouts a day is probably why his gaydar was off.
If Reeke were dating for real (which I'm not saying is the case), it's definitely Jake who dumped her. She's just too phoney and superficial.
LOL :)
The starvation diet along with the three workouts a day is probably why his gaydar was off.
LOL :)
We were being starved to death, what do you expect?
We can't operate at 100% capacity on a lousy salad and a freaking potato.
Damn!
• Wake up at 5.30am
And I helped!
looks like a couple days ago, an innocent lasher, in commenting upon Jake's "enamored" remark about Heath, posted in the "Serious Jake" thread at DC:
"Oh that he could have expanded on that comment.
My Collins Dictionary says of the word enamoured;(Brit spelling) ...to inspire with love; captivate."
Talk about a thread killer, lol. So far UV and LG and everyone else have very studiously ignored it.
Jake and all PoP movie set guys :)
LOL 9:58 #2. And too bad LG and UV are practically all that's left who posts at DC anymore.
"Oh that he could have expanded on that comment.
My Collins Dictionary says of the word enamoured;(Brit spelling) ...to inspire with love; captivate."
I am sure UV and LG are pissed off with Jake because of this :)
We can't operate at 100% capacity on a lousy salad and a freaking potato.
LMAO
I am sure UV and LG are pissed off with Jake because of this :)
I bet they are. Good job, Jake! :D
But wow!LOL!!! Poor brokie, no one cares.
UV and LG may not be pissed off but you are, trolly.
^^^^ Calm down, you stupid and transparent trolly.
I doubt UV and LG are pissed
You know that they are pissed off - they can't spin shit about Jake and Heath being just costars anymore.
He certainly was a guy--as those pics of him jumping nude off a cliff for that scene in BBM prove.
BTW, Heath had a beautiful body.
10:33, you're so transparent. Look how long you went on about something that "no one gives a shit about." lol.
Nobody outside of the BBM online fandom gives a fuck and that's what is pissing you off and you know it.
UV, LG, Uli, Monk, Anouska, BBMswear aka Lisa, etc are all living in a bubble.
It's no biggie, and you are transparent in your dissapointment.
No biggie, you know?
To many, yes. That's not the point, though. It still IS a big deal even if only a handful care. Jake could've said "I was always fond of him", "I always cared about him", "I always liked him" or such, but he chose "enamored" to describe his feelings. I find it hard to believe he doesn't know what it means.
Nobody outside of the BBM online fandom gives a fuck and that's what is pissing you off and you know it.
LOL, not even a nice try!
I find it hard to believe he doesn't know what it means.
I like Jake and I think he's cute, but he doesn't always come across as the smartest cookie around (and I'm being nice here.)
But anyway, Jake most likely knew what it means and was open about his feelings for Heath.
Ledger is safely dead.
We're not buying what you're selling, trolly. Give it up!
I find it hard to believe he doesn't know what it means.
Come on! English is not my first language, I don't read books in English and I don't need a dictionary for 'enamored'.
PR doesn't give a fuck, period. If they did they would have issued a response from Jake 2 years ago.
Please use your head. PR does NOT own Jake, Jake decides about all important issues, PR is paid by Jake to work for him.
Nobody outside of the BBM online fandom..
ITA 11:50 AM. So again, thanks Jake! :)
In the end it's not Jake's fault that a couple of his fans are jealous freaks. Most of his fans are nice people though. :)
Of course he knows what it means. Jake's words may ramble and his thoughts come out in a jumble, but he knows vocabulary. He does crossword puzzles. He is a word guy.
He is a word guy.
Word!
Who the fuck is UV, LG, ULI,Anouska, Monk, BBMswear aka Lisa, etc. Are these real people or slash characters? Weird that this blog is anon. but people seem to know who the fuck everyone is talking about.
12:21 PM, how long are you part of Jake's fandom?
Sometimes the best way of hiding a subject is to talk openly about it.
If public think that Jake has no qualms about saying he was "enamored" of Heath,
then they will also think that is "no biggie".
IMO, the "enamored" shit was a smart PR move.
PR move?
Nobody outside of the BBM online fandom gives a fuck and that's what is pissing you off and you know it.
No, assbrains, it's only pissing you off. LOL. 'Enamored' has no traction outside of the Jake bubble because 1) Everyone and their uncle has already said they loved Heath Ledger, 2) It's been well known for some time that Jake had a thing for Heath, 3) No one in the real world actually cares what Jake Gyllenhaal says - they just want him to take his shirt off.

Sarah Palin has fans?!? Fuck!
OT: Any fans of Sarah Palin here?
If there are, I'm outta here.
Sarah Palin? The Reese Whiterspoon of politics? You must be kidding...
enamored
Yup, he was. ;)
LMAO
Reese Witherspoon supports only herself.

I'm waiting, fess up Palin lovers!
He was enamored by Heath but he seems to be sweet talking Ang Lee instead!
Jake = Slut
;D
He was enamored by Heath but he seems to be sweet talking Ang Lee instead!
Jake = Slut
;D
LOL no, it just looks like sweet talking to Ang. Heath was telling Jake something and he turned to him. I know it, cause i watched the video. :)
^^video
If public think that Jake has no qualms about saying he was "enamored" of Heath,
then they will also think that is "no biggie".
What public? Outside of Jake's fandom very few bought the magazine
Wow, you really shouldn't post shit like that if you want to make a point, LOL!
If Jake really cared about what his fans/BBM fandom thinks and wanted to dispel speculation...
What speculation?
Is there a way to know about how well is the magazine selling?
65% of readers had an income of $50,000 or greater; and 25% had an income greater than $75,000.
outside of Jake's fandom, out of the people who bought GQ very few care about what Jake has to say about Heath
Maybe, but that is totally irrelevant anyway.
What speculation?
The one 12:43 PM is alluding to, Jake hiding something about his friendship with Heath. But other than here I haven't seen any such thing.
yes, but how well is the issue with Jake in the cover is selling?
Call GQ :)
"Now, she wouldn't be if they both fooled her and around with each other. She's not stupid after all."
Maybe Jake had a crush on Heath but never talked or tried anything about it and kept it to himself.

That's possible, sure.

Unlikely but not impossible.
Of course it's not impossible. ;)
2:18 PM,
retarded trolls like you are hopeless.
Who in the right mind would compare Jake's closeted gay talk and talking about his dead friend?
WTF is wrong with you?

^^
I'm just expressing my opinion and i'm interested to know what other posters think. That's all, there is no need to use the F word.
What he said is what most people would say, if they worked with someone who was such a bright star and who died tragically and much too soon.
No, they wouldn't use that word because that word has nothing to do with Heath's tragic death.
It does if he still thinks of remembers him the way he was then, when asked about Heath. A bright, talented star, who Jake greatly admired and looked up to, and got to work with on probably one of their most important and memorable films. It wouldn't have anything to do with the tragedy itself.

Heath wasn't (just) a bright, talented star to Jake - he was a friend, someone Jake loved.
What do you mean by a "threat"? Like making Jake to become an addict too?
What do you mean by a "threat"? Like making Jake to become an addict too?
No, I don't think that's what was meant. Besides, I doubt many of his friends knew he had a drug problem (if he had one that is).
Am I the only person who's getting sick of Jake promoting PoP?
It's an expensive family movie that requires a lot of promotion, so Jake is just doing his job and trying to please Disney. I'm sure that Jake's TV interviews will be fun.
Heath wasn't (just) a bright, talented star to Jake - he was a friend, someone Jake loved.
Yes, absolutely. Goes without saying.
^^association
Maybe there was a romantic element, maybe not; but if Jake is so closeted, why would he blurt it out in GQ.
Because Jake is human, imperfect, and doesn't plan every sentence he's going to say.
Some posters think he does plan his every word and have his PR review and approve everything.
I don't know why you made that associated.
See 2:55 PM post.
Some posters think he does plan his every word and have his PR review and approve everything.
Of course he doesn't.
You misunderstood the post.
Most interviews have review and approval.
I meant that people use words unique to them to describe their own feelings.
This is something entirely different though. :) I agree, I don't think it was a PR scripted line, just Jake being honest.
Looking back on that time, Jake said it was magic.
He also said painful in hindsight, but aren't special things always like that?
LOL how Jake never said he was enamored, or anything else, of Reese.
:)
What is the polar (and I do mean polar) opposite of enamored? Sorry, that's mean.
Jake also said, they lived the movie, but not literally. What does he mean? We all know Heath was a method actor though...;)
*cough*
:)
What is the polar (and I do mean polar) opposite of enamored? Sorry, that's mean.
I don't know, but repelled would probably fit. ;)
Who knows? :)
Reese is a natural repellent.
love scenes are not as romantic as they would seem and more clinical, with cameramen, retakes, whatever.
True but what about rehearsals? ~heh~
:)
Ang talked about filming the love scenes in an interview and he said he saw private feelings. I wish I had the link. :(
I remember that - he just let it happen, or something like that?
Especially what Michelle said, holding each other after one of the scenes. Who knows? :)
It's interesting they did it, I mean hold each other off screen. Or kiss off screen when she asked them to do it.
I think MW is naughtier than we all think. ;)
Whatever happened, they were some of the most beautiful love scenes I have ever seen on film.
I think MW is naughtier than we all think. ;)

I don't know, I listed to it (radio interview) a long time ago but I remember the private feelings comment and And saying they were very engrossed.
What is the polar (and I do mean polar) opposite of enamored?*
*Indiference?
I'm straight and I love my straight friends very much but if i had to make out with them i'd feel kinda engrossed too ;)
5:44 PM, engrossed means engaged, absorbed er, shall we say into it? ;)
I don't know, I listed to it (radio interview) a long time ago
And I have a link somewhere ...
IDK if anyone else noticed and maybe it was in the script, but in the second scene in the tent when Jack lays on top of Ennis and he finishes the kiss, Ennis is leaning forward as if he didn't want the kiss to end yet. I always found it cute, but never anyone mentioned it.
I've noticed :)
5:44 PM, engrossed means engaged, absorbed er, shall we say into it? ;)
Ha! I thought they were "grossed"!!!
my mistake, I apologize :D

Click "audio of the Ang Lee interview about Jake and Ennis' kiss and love making scene in the tent from" link at the bottom of the page.
Here's an extended outtake of the interview about the kiss between Ennis and Jake (Ledger and Gyllenhaal) when they meet up in Ennis' home town after a long absence. In the movie, the two lovers kiss passionately at the bottom of the stairs when they greet each other, and the kiss is observed by Ennis' wife, who is played by Ledger's real-life fiancée, Michelle Williams. (Gyllenhaal, by the way, described kissing Ledger as being like exfoliating.) Lee describes how the kiss was filmed unrehearsed, and how Williams critiqued the scene urging retakes until she personally was convinced of the passion of the kiss. How many takes in all to get the perfect Ledger/Gyllenhaal kiss? 7 takes one side, 6 takes the other side, and 3 takes from William's point of view. This was then followed by an additional 5 or 6 takes at William's insistence until she was totally convinced of the passion of the kiss. Funnily, one of the most difficult things was getting the hats to stay on why the guys kissed!
Lee also talks in the interview about his admiration for the actors in carrying off the love scene in the tent.

What does being "enamored" have to do with someone dying tragically, anyway?
Absolutely nothing. I don't know why you made that associated. Nothing like that was implied.
Here's why I made the association. Your words:
"What he said is what most people would say, if they worked with someone who was such a bright star and who died tragically and much too soon" - because your words made a direct connection between what he said and how Heath died.
Yes, I think we are on the same page with that.
And no, I don't necessarily think using the word "enamored" means Jake is a closeted gay man.
It seems to be a two-way street.
