FilmSourceCode: @Wossy Will you be interviewing Gemma's co-star in Prince of Persia Jake Gyllenhaal? He needs to be on your show again :) 3 minutes ago
I give Jake HIGH marks for admitting this. It was obvious to us that he felt this way about Heath. The fact that he's admitting this to a journalist is quite remarkable and I'm surprised not more is being made about this quote instead the focus is on that stupid regurgitated every man needs to find the right woman and every woman...yawn. That's not the real revelation in this article-it's about his feelings about Heath.
I completely agree with you. There was so much speculation here about the nature of Jake’s feelings for Heath and lo and behold right from the horse's mouth - he was always enamored with him - and then ... crickets chirping. No one cares. lol, funny.
I agree. Some posters will twist and turn everything to make Jake the bad guy. This one can’t be spun unless they say he lied or it was damage control (hmm, I’m giving them ideas ... 3, 2, 1 ... ;) ) so instead it gets ignored in favor of negative things. God forbid Jake does something right. I criticize Jake when he deserves (though love and all that) it but I also give him credit when credit is due.
Anonymous said... Trolly knows Jake flashing his rings means he and/or his pr does care about these sites.
Somebody sure does care since someone spent a whole lot of time on OMG from the Sea Gull Motel in Wrightown, NC during Austins first season on OTH. Of course that was Mon thru Thurs. The mystery person dissappeared on the weekends. Wrightown is a smaller town which is right next to Wilmington where OTH is filmed. That little bit of news scared the hell out of the trolls a couple nights ago on OMG:-)
LOL. The first thing I thought of when I saw that godawful pic was that Jake is trying to get the leading role of a Humpback Midget of Notre Dame Cyclops movie, "Sitting on the Crapper"
Jake needs a new management team. They must all be over 60. He is too trusting. They led him into bearding. They led him to GQ. Hell, even his best feature, his eyes, were turned brown in that photo. Why on earth would anyone do that.
"Some of us are so mean? What are you 14? This site is for adults only."
Now that's a joke, you are criticizing a man who doesn't give a shit what anyone on this blog thinks. Jake has you so obsessed with him to the point of "if you can't have him, let's talk shit about him to make ourselves feel better" mentality. It's middle America he cares about at this point. Jake will never be the savior to the gay community. If he does come out, his career is over and if his career fails like some of you are hoping, his coming out won't mean a thing. He will just be a washed up gay actor.
You should change the name of this blog to "We hate Toothy". I thought you were supposed to be supportive not homophobic and yes that's what some of you are being. Such radical comments, are some of you closeted conservative republicann?
Some posters will twist and turn everything to make Jake the bad guy.
Okay, some compliments. ;)
Jake gives better interviews than most actors. He may be unable to speak in logical sentences, but overall, his narrative is well-shaped - even expertly shaped - to reveal just enough personal detail while still keeping the mystique. I like the way he thoughtfully provides self-enhancing metaphors to bookend his stories with. There is a nice amount of self-deprecation that endears him to us. It's also to Jake's credit that he's able to discuss embarrassing examples of his own arrogance. Giving advice to Fincher. Bullying Heath. Going mental on Brian Geraghty in Jarhead. Telling stories on yourself is a good way to deflect criticism.
In all, Jake is very good at public relations, and he does what's needed to fulfill promotion requirements in a charming way. I can give no higher praise!
That said, I think the GQ interview is surprisingly subversive. It ostensibly celebrates Jake, but the subliminal message, both in words and pictures, is "Jake is [a] Huge [Ego]". I'm sure Jake would freely admit that anyway, so no biggie. Funny, though.
Heath is the love of Jake's life. I am dead serious. (No pun intended.) I would bet a dozen Oscars no one will ever surpass Heath as Jake's "creative partner." If Jake is straight, Heath will always be the idolized friend and actor from that "magical" time, part of a peak experience. If he's gay, Heath may also be a hot dream guy others will have to measure up against. Jeebus, Jake is fucked!
Jake Gyllenhaal Talks Heath Ledger with GQ, May 2010
said...
Actor opens up about his late co-star and friend
It’s been a little over two years since the body of Heath Ledger, aged just 28, was found lifeless in his apartment, after he’d overdosed on over the counter medication. Since then, his “Brokeback Mountain” co-star and friend Jake Gyllenhaal has kept very quiet about what it was like to work with such a talented actor as Heath was and, most importantly, about the pain his sudden death brought about. Jake breaks his silence in the May 2010 issue of GQ magazine.
Dressed up to the nines in a dashing J.Crew shirt and Prada suit, Jake says the experience of making “Brokeback Mountain” is one that he’ll always be carrying with him, both because of the wonderful people he met on the set and because of how they bonded. For instance, they all lived in trailers for about a month by the side of a river to shoot a few scenes, and this made them bond in ways they couldn’t have if they were to shoot on a closed set. The entire cast, director and producers would get up in the morning at the same hour to have coffee together, in what Gyllenhaal describes a “magical” experience.
The same goes for working with Heath, undeniably one of the most talented actors of his generation. “He was very sensitive. He didn’t always have a sense of performance in his everyday life. He knew who he was. I think actors very often, they know how to present something, and that’s part of their job. I think he was just really sensitive. We often used to do a lot of things together, because people were very interested in him and I think we felt safe together,” Jake says.
As for losing Heath, the actor says he had serious trouble dealing with that. “I don’t really like talking about it. That period of time was… it was difficult. Even when we did Brokeback and stuff, it was like my work was the only thing that mattered to me. It was like I could only understand or define myself through doing that. Life, I didn’t totally understand. And I think I was afraid of life. And I had success in my work, enough success that you could keep going back there. But after that happened… I think I recognized that it was work. And I recognized that this is for real,” Gyllenhaal explains.
"Some of us are so mean? What are you 14? This site is for adults only." Now that's a joke, you are criticizing a man who doesn't give a shit what anyone on this blog thinks.
10:59 PM, you obviously don't understand concepts like fan and fan blog.
The British-born actor, 37, was snapped out in Los Angeles yesterday and was almost unrecognisable as he went for a hike with a (male) friend.
The sexy shaved head, flat stomach and defining jawline have been replaced by a fuzzy head of hair, a rounder face and a bulging gut. But Miller didn't appear to be too concerned about his fuller figure as he laughed and joked with his friend, all too aware that the cameras were on him.
There was so much speculation here about the nature of Jake’s feelings for Heath and lo and behold right from the horse's mouth - he was always enamored with him - and then ... crickets chirping. No one cares.

You should try reading WFT2 posts and Internet articles about Jake's GQ interview.
Two lucky winners (four tickets per family, so eight in total) will get a chance of a lifetime to attend the World premiere of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which will be attended by the star Jake Gyllenhaal, taking place on May 9, 2010, London

It's painful to watch footage of the TIFF BBM Press Conference. The moderator's an ass, and you can sympathize with Jake's discomfort and irritation when he starts up about Jake's family. But the interesting thing is how Heath and Jake respond to the dumb question about whether the other is a good kisser. It's their different approach to the business and life in a nutshell. Jake protects himself by smoothly deflecting with a joke. Clever. Crowd laughs, media is charmed. Heath gives himself no protection, answers it straight. Makes crowd feel bad for being frivolous. Media resents him. Not smart. You can also see James Schamus tried to protect him/them... "I've got nothing funny to tell you."
If he's gay, Heath may also be a hot dream guy others will have to measure up against.
imo this is likely. Remember that Joe Francis guy or what's his name that looked like Heath, and Jake was trying to cruise? Not speaking as a Jake/Heath shipper but as a Jake fan, I wish Heath wouldn't have died and I wish Jake would have the real deal.
10:59, you need to take a deep breath and calm down. Seriously. Jake has people kissing his ass up one side and down the other on a daily basis, and gets his ego stroked plenty :) So maybe you should put your energy into worrying about someone else who actually needs your concern. As for "wanting" Jake, lol - you also need to stop projecting your feelings onto others. Speak for yourself. I care about gay rights, but as a straight woman, I certainly don't "want" a gay man for myself, lol! Oh, and while you're at it - please stop making such broad generalizations and silly remarks about changing the name of the blog - there's a healthy mix here of attitudes, some are positive, some critical, most in-between, so what? If you want adoration and fawning 24/7 there's other places for that.
President Obama orders hospital visit rights for gays
said...
"There are few moments in our lives that call for great compassion and companionship that when a loved one is admitted to the hospital ... Yet every day, all across America, patients are denied the kindnesses and caring of a loved one at their sides ..."
Gay and lesbian Americans are "uniquely affected" by the relatives-only policy at hospitals, Obama said, adding that they "are often barred from the bedsides of the partners with whom they may have spent decades of their lives - unable to be there for the person they love, and unable to act as a legal surrogate if their partner is incapacitated."
The president listed widowers without children and members of certain religious orders among those who suffer under the policy.
President Barack Obama has told the Department of Health and Human Services to establish a rule that would not allow hospitals to deny visitation privileges to gay and lesbian partners.
April 15, 2010 11:03 PM ...his narrative is well-shaped - even expertly shaped - to reveal just enough personal detail while still keeping the mystique.
Kudos, 11:03 - your entire post was extremely insightful and an excellent and fair description, imo. Jake is extremely media aware and media savvy - by admitting his own arrogance, he has found a way to make it seem charming. Quite a feat, actually, not many people can pull that off :)
I liked what he said about Heath very much - I do think that was as close to being really open as he can get, and I can't blame him for not wanting to share more about him.
In today's Bitch Back a small mention re TT: And as always with beards, there's different levels. Whereas folks like Toothy Tile have a top-notch, no-nooky gal
Dear Ted: You said "I never said Nevis had a beard per se" in a B.B. yesterday. However, in a B.V. from about a month ago on Nevis, you said: "Only problem? He can't decide whether his beard or ex-boyfriend is the perfect fit for him..." That looked like a beard per se to me. So, could you please clarify this for us: Is Nevis' GF his beard or the real deal, and how does she get along with the ex-BF? Are they perhaps more of a triad than a couple? Because that would be...interesting. Anyhow, you're probably going to get tons of crap about this, sorry about that, don't let it get to you. We B.V. sleuths are kind of obsessive about the clues you give, and the beard comment from a month ago about Nevis seemed like a big clue. —Agusta
Dear Caught!: Nevis and his lady have a quite...complicated relationship. And as always with beards, there's different levels. Whereas folks like Toothy Tile have a top-notch, no-nooky gal, Nevis's sometimes-GF is in-the-know and in-the-action, but it's still up in the air who he prefers: this babe or his boy. We should all have problems like this.
Heath gives himself no protection, answers it straight. Makes crowd feel bad for being frivolous. Media resents him. Not smart.
Yeah, it was painful. I hated those stupid, lame kissing questions - anyone who asked always sounded like a 12 year old. But Heath's reaction is exactly why I admire him so much - he just doesn't play the game and that takes integrity. I love that he made the crowd aware of their own behavior.
No doubt there is stuff put out there that is exaggerated, embellished, and taken for a spin -but THIS - well, it's crystal clear to see that this guy speaks the truth. You can tell that story really happened just the way he described. "He hides who he really is for reasons I can only assume are valid." He nails it. Every time Jake's name is in print, there should be an apostrophe and then that sentence following it.
Wenty doesn't look bad with the extra weight, but that hair is all kinds of wrong.
And I just don't get why Ted keeps calling Nevis' girl a beard if they're the real deal, and to the point of not know which one her prefers. I also don't remember Ted ever referring to the guy as an ex.
President Barack Obama has told the Department of Health and Human Services to establish a rule that would not allow hospitals to deny visitation privileges to gay and lesbian partners.
Well, since he's talking about Pattinson and Stewart, don't think there was any hiring/arranging. And if the only purpose is to make him look straight, why would they have to actually do the deed. Reeke didn't. And the woman knows all, so this isn't a case of Nevis trying to pass as straight by fooling the woman as well, hence the having to sleep with her.
Jake needs a new management team. They must all be over 60.
Jake's old bats need to talk to the Page Six old bats. (Cindy Adams must be 109 by now.) Why isn't Jake on their Who's Hot sidebar? Heath is one of the bold names, RDJ and RPatz are there, Johnny Depp, Leo, Matt Damon... Maybe it's an old sidebar, but wtf.
Daniel Radcliffe, who last year pranced on the Great White Way in his birthday suit for the stark drama Equus, will take the lead in a new revival of the 1961 Pulitzer Prize-winning musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, to open in spring 2011, its producers have announced.
Still, 10.000.000 gays hate Joe Francis because he had a chance to 'hand out' with Jake but he turned it down ;)
lol, so true. imagining the "indirect" conversation between Jake and the mutual friend is pretty funny - I bet Jakey has that bit mastered to perfection. I also bet he doesn't get turned down very often :)
Nevis' girlfriend is considered a beard because Nevis' primary relationship is with his boyfriend. There are different kind of beards, from publicity only beards to the ones who have some sex, but they are still beards because the main relationship of the guy is with another man.
...Maggie also shared a little about her family's excitement for Jake's big blockbuster role in Prince of Persia, though she didn't have much to add on his budding romance since she's evidently not quite sure who Isabel Lucas is. Maggie said:
...On the Gylenhaals' excitement for Prince of Persia: "That will probably be a big deal. I hear it's really great — it's really funny and kind of smart. I hear it has a little Indiana Jones quality to it. I have not seen it, but I hear it's great!"
Y'all ready for this? LimeLife has just received an exclusive report that Twilight teen-dream Taylor Lautner attended a party at the home of a well-known gay socialite last weekend. We have the scoop, and the news has people everywhere cheering! (Except, perhaps, for teen girls.)
This may explain the wishy-washy Taylor Swift situation. A source with close ties to the Velvet Mafia, (also known as "The Gay Mafia") has told Limelife that Taylor Lautner partied at the home of openly gay X-Men director Bryan Singer last week. Singer's party kicked off Thursday evening, and Lautner spent a few hours there before leaving well into the wee hours of the night.
To be clear, Taylor Lautner was not seen kissing any other party-goers (a group composed almot completely of gay men), but, as our source says, Lautner "got the party -- and now the gay community -- buzzing about his presence."
And his role as Stretch Armstrong in an upcoming movie based on the popular toy from the Seventies is only stirring speculation -- adds our source, "Taylor is the new great gay hope. Ricky Martin coming out is about as exciting to the gay community as Larry King posing naked in Playgirl. The mere thought of Taylor Lautner being gay is what gay men everywhere are dreaming about."
We've been hearing the same for the last year. Our source noted that Bryan Singer is well-known for throwing parties with loads of gay Hollywood types flanking his home. The insider also offered this insight: "Think about it. Teenage girls have moved on from Taylor Lautner to Justin Bieber. Maybe they sense something ."
Okay, that may be taking it too far...but an intense report nonetheless!
Jake Gyllenhaal, On Finding Out He Got The Role of Prince Dastan
In this video, Jake Gyllenhaal says he was eager to take on the challenge of portraying Prince Dastan. Thanks to our fan, Cameliya M., for such an interesting question
Nevis' girlfriend is considered a beard because Nevis' primary relationship is with his boyfriend.
This is why I am confused. As far as I have seen, ted has never said the boyfriend is the primary relationship. In today's letter he says Nevis can't decide between the two, implying he likes them equally.
It sounds to me like Nevis is truly bisexual, and enjoying both relationships. Of course Ted hasn't exactly been very clear when writing about Toothy either lately.
cootiebanini: Working on Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (POP: TSOT) stuff today. This involves staring at pictures of Jake Gyllenhaal. Poor me. about 3 hours ago

Considering Rob and Tom are apparently unable to be separated for any length of time (see: Tom following Rob out of the country to film his new movie), I'd say Tom is the real deal. Rob goes along with it up to a point but he doesn't play the PR game like they wish he would. He's pretty much a PR nightmare since the boy has never had a filter. He's clearly counting down the days until he's done with Twilight so he can be out of that mess.
The PR team for the Twilight movies sure has their hands full between trying to convince fangirls that Robert and Kristen are a couple and hide Rob's relationship with Tom Sturridge to having to keep an eye on what Taylor Lautner is getting up to. And they also have Kellan Lutz to keep an eye on too.
That is one drop-dead gorgeous man. And the fact that he isn't closeted sends his wow factor off the charts. Not hiding who you are is a very attractive quality - and I don't mean sexually :)
I have no idea why HW makes such a big deal out of an actor's sexuality - these pics are just swoonworthy. Of course you can imagine them in the role of a straight romantic lead - or a gay romantic lead. They are actors.
randomfurlong: @evie Gemma Arterton is no Rachel Weisz... but Jake Gyllenhaal is better than Brendan Fraser. As long as it doesn't take itself seriously! 40 minutes ago
3 of the Best Celebs With Gay Siblings. And 3 Of The Absolute Worst
said...
It was hard not to get misty as Colin Farrell's recently expressed love and admiration for his gay older brother, Eamon. Of the bullies that used to regularly beat and taunt Eamon, Colin said, "They missed out because they saw him as a threat – not as a testament to the kaleidoscope and diversity of this beautiful world." Awww (no really, awww)! Farrell has always been tight with his bro, but how many of our own family members would go so far as to issue a press release praising us in support of an anti-homophobia campaign? (How many of our own family members even know how to issue a press release?) So we started searching for other celebrities who support their gay siblings and found just as many bad pairs as we found good. Let the love and hate begin!
TWO HOT HEROES: Scott and Chris Evans ... DRUGS NOT HUGS: Madonna and Christopher Ciccone ... FOR THE LOVE OF GOD: Anne and Michael Hathaway ... THE BASHER AND HER SODOMITE: Laura and Curtis Ingraham ... GAY AND GAYER: Rosie and Daniel J. O'Donnell ... THE TERROR TOTS: Mary and Liz Cheney
"Kirsten Dunst will be taking on the lead role in the upcoming Lars von Trier sci-fi disaster film Melancholia alongside Kiefer Sutherland and Alexander Skarsgard.
Penelope Cruz was originally tapped for the role, but she signed on to Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides instead."
Whatever she was to Jake (IMO she was a gf) you have to admit he had his best roles/movies when he hung around with her. I think she had a big influence on him choosing good scripts. Seems like after they broke up, [and his movies like BBMt and Jarhead, that she probably had input on, were made] his script choices haven't been all that great.
Dear Ted: I love Peter SkarsgÃ¥rd and Maggie Gyllenhaal. They are both talented and seem down-to-earth. Have they ever been a Blind Vice, apart or together? —Cine
Dear Sweet One: Wow, good one. Nope they have not. Forget about them sometimes! But, when it comes down to it, ultimately, just don't think these two have quite the sinful sizzle to get them into Blind infamy.
Dear Ted: Have Toothy Tile and Saucy Bossy ever worked on a film together? If so, did any extra-curricular kinky activities happen between the two down-low studs? —G
Dear Hollywood is Small: They're acquainted, yes.
^^Those letters were one after the other.
Dear Ted: I have a question regarding an oldie but goodie Blind Vice! Was Oded Good-Head servicing some random dude, or an equally famous hottie? —Mary in Cali
Dear Good Head Indeed: The guy wasn't famous, no. But, Oded sure is, especially lately. More than ever.
Dear Ted: You've stated that you don't use more than one moniker for the subjects of your Blind Vices—for ince, once Toothy Tile, always Toothy Tile. However, is it possible that a subject with a moniker was once the subject of another Blind Vice back in the day when your column was a weekly column and you didn't have monikers for your subjects? That is, could someone like Fey Oiled-Tush, who first appeared in your column in 2008, have yet another older Blind Vice attributed to him that had no mention of Fey Oiled-Tush or any other moniker back then? —ugbugmemenotnot
Dear Outsmart Me Not: Even though I'm far too confused at this point to follow you, exactly (the science you folks make this celeb debauchery out to be is pretty impressive), let me repeat: no Blind Vice member has ever had more than one name. Never has, never will.
Seems like after they broke up, [and his movies like BBMt and Jarhead, that she probably had input on, were made] his script choices haven't been all that great.
Yes, of course, Jake needs a beard to run his life and choose scripts for him. *rolls eyes*
Hooray for Kiki! I don't know if she had any influence over the choosing of scripts, but it's nice to think she and Jake discussed them over coffee. :)
What an adorable article about Matilda. ((((Heath))))
Hooray for Kiki! I don't know if she had any influence over the choosing of scripts, but it's nice to think she and Jake discussed them over coffee. :)
Sweet story about Jake's godchild Matilda. Chatting Up the Trophy Girl, Toddler Style
Thanks for posting :)
Matilda heard a song she liked, and she started swaying in her seat. “I like to dance!” she exclaimed. “Dance with me, Eliot!” ...
“Hey, kids, look at this,” he said in a spooky voice. Still in the Halloween spirit, he wore a tattered zombie costume out of which he started to pull wads of newspaper in a disturbing manner, all the while contorting his face in agonized expressions straight out of “Night of the Living Dead.”
Because Matilda was 3, her reaction was: “Ooh! Ha, ha, ha!”
Because Eliot was 2, his reaction was to contort his face in fear, burst into tears and cry very, very loudly.
Matilda said, “Mommy, Mommy — that baby is crying.”
Sweet story about Jake's godchild Matilda. Chatting Up the Trophy Girl, Toddler Style
Thanks. That really is sweet - and bittersweet. She has Heath's inquisitiveness and it makes me ache all over again to know he isn't here to experience this :( But it was touching and funny, too.
I wanted to pick Eliot up and console him, though I wasn’t sure what “She’s just not that into you” might mean to a 2-year-old.
^^The poster at 9:58 wrote in response to Kiki and Jake discussing scripts "lol". I assume they find it ludicrous that Jake would even talk to a woman, never mind have sex with one. They're in the same business, and I imagine they were friends and he respected her opinion, so why not talk together? sheesh
Why? It's kinda pathological how some of you jump whenever a woman is used in the same sentence as Jake, and the fact that the odds are a straight woman posted makes it even more weird.
We know he discussed whether or not he should take the role in BBM with Kiki. Thank goodness he did. There's a link to that somewhere. He said she encouraged him to do it.
Please don't play dumb, you damn well know that no one would care about advice from 20-something actress when you can get advice from people who are 20 years in the business.
20 years in the business might have been homophobic Hollywood, and discouraged him from taking the role. A young and fresh outlook would encourage him.
It's kinda pathological how some of you jump whenever a woman is used in the same sentence as Jake
I didn't see anyone doing that. What might be considered "pathological" are these kind of over-the-top assumptions and the twisting of words. I'm not 9:58, but not believing K had a big influence on his movie choices doesn't equate to "jumping" at a woman being mentioned. Talk about an over-reaction.
Of course they aren't. No one saw them together in 4 years, Kirsten said that they aren't in touch and it looks like they ignore each other (Montreal "reports") - it is obvious that the break was nasty and they aren't friends.
Now who's playing dumb? Maybe you are new here. All of the comments about women and Jake over the years and months, it's just when you add them all up - some can't give Kiki and credit at all, for anything, and put down any woman associated with Jake. It's pretty near misogyny, which I find strange considering probably most who post here are women. I don't know why that is. I like her, she's one of my favorite actresses, I have compassion for her situation, which I don't know the extent of, and I'll be glad to see her working again.
11:45, I'm not playing dumb and I'm not new - and your remark about "all the comments" and "years and months" proves my point that you're lumping everyone and everyone's posts together - that's what leads to assumptions and over-reactions. And it's fine that you like K and she's one of your favorite actresses - but, to me, that just further explains why you might be overly sensitive about her.
Out and proud: Kowalski tired of living a lie
said...
FORMER Olympian Daniel Kowalski has joined the small number of elite Australian sportsmen who have publicly announced that they are gay.
Kowalski, who has won four Olympic swimming medals, told The Sunday Age that he was ''tired of living a lie'' and that he wanted young gay people to know that others have had their experience. The few elite male Australian athletes who have announced publicly that they are gay include the retired NSW rugby league player Ian Roberts and, more recently, Olympic gold-medal winning diver Matthew Mitcham.
Kowalski said he was inspired to make today's announcement after reading about the Welsh rugby player Garth Thomas, who announced last December that he was gay. He was so moved by Thomas's story that he contacted the player. The resulting conversations left him feeling ''excited and relieved'' for Thomas, but he also felt ''anger because I was jealous … he was out and felt liberated and free. ''And it really got me thinking that I could do that (come out) if I wanted to. I felt really compelled to do it because it's very tough to live a closeted existence.''
A story in last week's Sunday Age about AFL players and coaches coming together to campaign against homophobia showed that there was community support and helped convince the swimmer to tell his story now. Kowalski said he was not expecting more athletes to come out in the wake of his story. ''I just want them to realise that they are not alone, that the feelings that they have are probably quite common and that at the end of the day it's really OK. There will be hard times, but you surround yourself with great, supportive people who love you for you and you'll be OK.''
The former Olympian said that it wasn't until 2006, more than three years after his swimming career ended, that he told family and close friends that he wasn't straight. He feels now that he had been in denial about his sexuality during his high-profile career. ''Things pop in my head that make me realise that I clearly suppressed these thoughts of being gay … because it was 'wrong', as a male it's 'wrong' but even more as an elite athlete.''
And this denial may have affected his competitive edge. ''I always knew that I lacked confidence when I stood up on the blocks and I do wonder sometimes if that lack of confidence was fear - fear of not really knowing who I am,'' he said. ''On the sporting side, I lost to some amazing champions, so I'm not for a second saying that this is the reason I didn't win. I often wonder if the lack of self-confidence and lack of identity in many ways held me back from reaching my potential.''
For his own future, Kowalski wants what most people want: ''I look for all the things straight people do. I want to fall in love and be happy and be proud of who I am.''
No, it does not make me overly sensitive because I like Kiki. How do you figure that? It gets tiresome, that's all, all of the negativity about her, and also any woman Jake may be associated with. That was the point, not just Kiki.
Kirsten has been in the HW industry since a very young age and I have the feeling that she must have seen it all in the business. I would take an advice or two from her if I were an actor.
12:57, miscommunication and misunderstandings are always a two-way street, in rl and especially on-line. Everyone brings their own issues, biases, etc. to the table in any conversation- we're all adults here, supposedly, and should all be aware of that. If you want to believe that the onus for any misunderstandings always lies with everyone else, and you couldn't possibly play a part in them - fine :)

Jake must surround himself with people who say come out mister and you will be broke. No roles. No money. Instead they tell him to lie and be miserable inside. Jake needs to grow up and take control of is life. Lets hope something wakes him up and he says NO MORE!
Kowalski said he was inspired to make today's announcement after reading about the Welsh rugby player Garth Thomas, who announced last December that he was gay. He was so moved by Thomas's story that he contacted the player.
That's nice to hear, I'm sure Garth Thomas is happy about that too.
What I am hoping is Jake establishes himself as an good actor and has enough money to make his Mom happy and then takes the plunge and tests the water. I still hope that Jake will be the one who proves that an out gay male actor can be successful. It is about talent. Make good movies and people will come see them. The people who hate gay men probably dont go to the movies anyway. and girls just like good looking guys. Gay or Str8.
Jake must surround himself with people who say come out mister and you will be broke. No roles. No money. Instead they tell him to lie and be miserable inside. Jake needs to grow up and take control of is life. Lets hope something wakes him up and he says NO MORE!
ITA.
In contrast, I think people like Bomer has surrounded himself with people who say you can have both. Don't think it is a coincidence that he's friends with Quinto, another one who refuses to play that game, and went to high school with Lee Pace, another one who is known to be gay but doesn't beard and engage in related nonsense.
Jake seems to have surrounded himself with old Hollywood advisors, hence the dated thinking. Bomer's boyfriend looks to the same age as he is, and is openly gay himself. Big difference from Austin. I wonder if Austin would be out if not for Jake.
What, no one complained about this heterosexual quote?! :)
He [Jake] remembers when 'Running on Empty' was being filmed: "I had such a huge crush on Martha Plimpton. I remember sitting with her. I must have been 5 or something like that. I mean, she was just strong and beautiful. That is when I remember falling in love with girls.

Old story. He's told that one before, along with the Ed Harris story. Nothing new there or surprising.

I don't recall "falling in love with girls" part used before.
I don't recall "falling in love with girls" part used before.
Don't remember if that part, specifically, was used before, but I do remember him talking about crushing on Martha Plimpton during the making of the movie (and on other girls when he was younger).
LOL cute! Do you know what sport they're playing, if it's pro teams or who it is? Also I wonder what those two French Olympic biathloners are doing tonight....
Reese is a person who knows how to earn money. Maybe Kirsten has more of an "artistic" mind about scripts.
Whatever it is, I didn't like Kirsten as a beard but I definitely don't hate her. Reese is obnoxious by herself, not just because she arranged the showmance. I disliked Reese way before the entire bearding crap.
But... if she ever wants to give me some advice about how to get lots of $$$$, then I'll be all ears!!! :)

What got the trolls' dander up today?
Maybe it's that less-than-flattering GQ cover pic; idk who the photog was, but I'm sure he's now on their shit list along with David Fincher, lol.
Violet Tendencies looks cute.
No one cares. lol, funny.
Because it's not negative.

^^ (tough love and all that)

Yes but I want to know:
Has he ever read the (once) abundant H/J slash?
Has he ever confessed his feeling to Heath? And if so, was he rejected?

Trolly knows Jake flashing his rings means he and/or his pr does care about these sites.
Somebody sure does care since someone spent a whole lot of time on OMG from the Sea Gull Motel in Wrightown, NC during Austins first season on OTH.
Of course that was Mon thru Thurs. The mystery person dissappeared on the weekends.
Wrightown is a smaller town which is right next to Wilmington where OTH is filmed.
That little bit of news scared the hell out of the trolls a couple nights ago on OMG:-)
but I'm sure he's now on their shit list
Why on earth would anyone do that.
she goes on family vacations with him
IMO that Virgin Islands pic was a photoshop. One pic of Austin and Sophia's faces smiling with a standard island scene in the background? Easy.
You all have so much class.
LOL 10:04.
I do wonder if the Sophin photo wasn't photoshopped too.

Now that's a joke, you are criticizing a man who doesn't give a shit what anyone on this blog thinks.
So why are you so worried? Take a chill pill. It's all just fun and games for people who are bored at work.
You're right. No one cares about Heath.
Hmmm.
Yes he is!
I would bet a dozen Oscars no one will ever surpass Heath as Jake's "creative partner."
Guh, what a thought, and I agree. :)
Heath is the love of Jake's life.
Awwwwww :)

Opposites attract :)

Dear Ted:
You said "I never said Nevis had a beard per se" in a B.B.
—Agusta
Dear Caught!:
Nevis and his lady have a quite...complicated relationship. And as always with beards, there's different levels. Whereas folks like Toothy Tile have a top-notch, no-nooky gal, Nevis's sometimes-GF is in-the-know and in-the-action, but it's still up in the air who he prefers: this babe or his boy. We should all have problems like this.
Bitch-Back! Is Eclipse Doomed Already?
Heath gives himself no protection, answers it straight. Makes crowd feel bad for being frivolous. Media resents him. Not smart.
Yeah, it was painful. I hated those stupid, lame kissing questions - anyone who asked always sounded like a 12 year old. But Heath's reaction is exactly why I admire him so much - he just doesn't play the game and that takes integrity. I love that he made the crowd aware of their own behavior.
Remember that Joe Francis guy or what's his name that looked like Heath, and Jake was trying to cruise
You mean this guy?
No doubt there is stuff put out there that is exaggerated, embellished, and taken for a spin -but THIS - well, it's crystal clear to see that this guy speaks the truth. You can tell that story really happened just the way he described. "He hides who he really is for reasons I can only assume are valid." He nails it. Every time Jake's name is in print, there should be an apostrophe and then that sentence following it.
You mean this guy?
I'm not the original poster, but yes, that's Francis guy.
I just don't get why Ted keeps calling Nevis' girl a beard if they're the real deal
Because they are occasional fuck buddies, not the real deal :)

Doesn't sound like a fuck buddy to me. And why would that make someone a beard?
10:28 AM, she is a beard because she was hired/arranged/asked to be a beard, to make him look straight.

Well, since he's talking about Pattinson and Stewart...

Nevis' girlfriend is considered a beard because Nevis' primary relationship is with his boyfriend. There are different kind of beards, from publicity only beards to the ones who have some sex, but they are still beards because the main relationship of the guy is with another man.

Lautner being called "The Great Gay Hope!"

DL gossip:
The PR team for the Twilight movies sure has their hands full between trying to convince fangirls that Robert and Kristen are a couple and hide Rob's relationship with Tom Sturridge to having to keep an eye on what Taylor Lautner is getting up to. And they also have Kellan Lutz to keep an eye on too.

(How many of our own family members even know how to issue a press release?) wtf? Pene chose Pirates over Lars??
"Kirsten Dunst will be taking on the lead role in the upcoming Lars von Trier sci-fi disaster film Melancholia alongside Kiefer Sutherland and Alexander Skarsgard.
Penelope Cruz was originally tapped for the role, but she signed on to Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides instead."
A big part of Dunst's success is she picks good film roles.
Yay Scott and Chris Evans! :)
YAY!! Return of Kiki!!
I'm glad she is being hired again
I guess this means she is doing more than ok :))))

Dear Ted:
I love Peter Skarsgård and Maggie Gyllenhaal. They are both talented and seem down-to-earth. Have they ever been a Blind Vice, apart or together?
—Cine
Dear Sweet One:
Wow, good one. Nope they have not. Forget about them sometimes! But, when it comes down to it, ultimately, just don't think these two have quite the sinful sizzle to get them into Blind infamy.
Dear Ted:
Have Toothy Tile and Saucy Bossy ever worked on a film together? If so, did any extra-curricular kinky activities happen between the two down-low studs?
—G
Dear Hollywood is Small:
They're acquainted, yes.
^^Those letters were one after the other.
Dear Ted:
I have a question regarding an oldie but goodie Blind Vice! Was Oded Good-Head servicing some random dude, or an equally famous hottie?
—Mary in Cali
Dear Good Head Indeed:
The guy wasn't famous, no. But, Oded sure is, especially lately. More than ever.
Dear Ted:
You've stated that you don't use more than one moniker for the subjects of your Blind Vices—for ince, once Toothy Tile, always Toothy Tile.
Dear Outsmart Me Not:
Even though I'm far too confused at this point to follow you, exactly (the science you folks make this celeb debauchery out to be is pretty impressive), let me repeat: no Blind Vice member has ever had more than one name. Never has, never will.
Bitch Back!
I think she had a big influence on him choosing good scripts.
I'm sure Kirsten had zero influence on Jake's choosing scripts.
Seems like after they broke up, [and his movies like BBMt and Jarhead, that she probably had input on, were made] his script choices haven't been all that great.
Yes, of course, Jake needs a beard to run his life and choose scripts for him. *rolls eyes*
But, when it comes down to it, ultimately, just don't think these two have quite the sinful sizzle to get them into Blind infamy.
Good :)
Have Toothy Tile and Saucy Bossy ever worked on a film together?
Dear Hollywood is Small:
They're acquainted, yes.
Who is Saucy Bossy?
Saucy Bossy - Top guesses: Jamie Foxx, Tracy Morgan
Yay Scott and Chris Evans! :)
You can say that again ;)
But, when it comes down to it, ultimately, just don't think these two have quite the sinful sizzle to get them into Blind infamy.
Good :)
I think it's good, too :) I like them a lot, individually and as a couple - and, besides, they don't need anymore BVs in the family, lol.
Hooray for Kiki! I don't know if she had any influence over the choosing of scripts, but it's nice to think she and Jake discussed them over coffee. :)
What an adorable article about Matilda. ((((Heath))))

Sweet story about Jake's godchild Matilda.
Chatting Up the Trophy Girl, Toddler Style
Thanks for posting :)
Matilda heard a song she liked, and she started swaying in her seat. “I like to dance!” she exclaimed. “Dance with me, Eliot!”
...

So you are saying, since we believe Jake is gay, that he can't be with in a 50-mile radius of a woman, can't talk to one? IDK
I wanted to pick Eliot up and console him, though I wasn’t sure what “She’s just not that into you” might mean to a 2-year-old.
lol.
So you are saying, since we believe Jake is gay, that he can't be with in a 50-mile radius of a woman, can't talk to one?
Who is saying that?
^^The poster at 9:58 wrote in response to Kiki and Jake discussing scripts "lol". I assume they find it ludicrous that Jake would even talk to a woman, never mind have sex with one. They're in the same business, and I imagine they were friends and he respected her opinion, so why not talk together? sheesh
The poster at 9:58 wrote in response to Kiki and Jake discussing scripts "lol".
Sure, because that comment made him/her laugh.
Why? It's kinda pathological how some of you jump whenever a woman is used in the same sentence as Jake, and the fact that the odds are a straight woman posted makes it even more weird.
It's kinda pathological how some of you jump whenever a woman is used in the same sentence as Jake
Give us a break and read posts.
We know he discussed whether or not he should take the role in BBM with Kiki. Thank goodness he did. There's a link to that somewhere. He said she encouraged him to do it.
I imagine they were friends
Yes, they were friends and then the truth came out.
I'm sure Kirsten is DIRECTLY responsible for Jake's movie career, LMAO!
Kirsten was a friend, but Jake was and is fortunate to have family and family friends in the business if he needs an advice.
OK, so asexual family women are ok, anyone else is forbidden. Got it.
I believe Kiki is still a friend.
11:30 AM
Please don't play dumb, you damn well know that no one would care about advice from 20-something actress when you can get advice from people who are 20 years in the business.
Not necessarily. 20 years in the business might be stale advice.
I believe Kiki is still a friend.
I like her, she's one of my favorite actresses
There is your answer. I don't care about Kirsten Dunst one way or the other.
turbomitch: @pawlmichael If I said I have a man-crush on Jake Gyllenhal, would that make you feel awkward the next time we see each other?
11:45, I'm not playing dumb and I'm not new - and your remark about "all the comments" and "years and months" proves my point that you're lumping everyone and everyone's posts together - that's what leads to assumptions and over-reactions. And it's fine that you like K and she's one of your favorite actresses - but, to me, that just further explains why you might be overly sensitive about her.
Most Jake fans hate Kiki, always did.

Sorry 12:57 PM, but Kirsten "I'll Never Date Another Actor" Dunst is not exactly a role model material.
Kirsten has been in the HW industry since a very young age and I have the feeling that she must have seen it all in the business. I would take an advice or two from her if I were an actor.
Kistens is just an actress.
I would take an advice or two from her if I were an actor.
Kirsten's advice doesn't matter much when you can talk to Maggie or Jamie Lee Curtis (for example).

Let's see if Bomer ever gets a Hollywood franchise...
I do believe he is happier than Toothy, though.I guess that's not a small thing after all
Jake seems to have surrounded himself with old Hollywood advisors, hence the dated thinking. Bomer's boyfriend looks to the same age as he is, and is openly gay himself. Big difference from Austin. I wonder if Austin would be out if not for Jake.
I wonder if Austin would be out if not for Jake.
I think he wouldn't.

What if Jake's family and friends agree with those 'old Hollywood advisors' regarding his coming out?
What, no one complained about this heterosexual quote?! :)
He [Jake] remembers when 'Running on Empty' was being filmed: "I had such a huge crush on Martha Plimpton. I remember sitting with her. I must have been 5 or something like that. I mean, she was just strong and beautiful. That is when I remember falling in love with girls.
ASHORT315: A customer just told me I look like Jake Gyllenhaal (as he bought women's underpants. But I'm not concerned about that). Thanks new haircut!

Martha Plimpton is a total butch, btw.

Describe your first kiss.
Matt Bomer: "My first kiss was in the fourth grade with a girl named Darcy on the end of a diving board. We were on the swim team together."

Not necessarily. 20 years in the business might be stale advice.
IA; I doubt very much that Jake's contemporaries in his age group are telling him to beard.
^^
They should have asked him about his last kiss!! ;)
Kiki vs Reese advice; I'll take Kiki's any day. Jake chose crap when he was around romcom bitchface; Nailed and POP anybody?!

LOL cute! Do you know what sport they're playing, if it's pro teams or who it is? Also I wonder what those two French Olympic biathloners are doing tonight....
Not necessarily. 20 years in the business might be stale advice.
Oh yes, I'm sure you would consult a very young doctor or broker instead of looking for "stale" advice from someone who has more experience.
People who are 20 years in Hollywood business know a lot more than some spoiled, young actress.
Kiki vs Reese advice; I'll take Kiki's any day. Jake chose crap when he was around romcom bitchface; Nailed and POP anybody?!
Jake's beards have nothing to do with the movies he was offered nor the movies Jake accepted to do.
They should have asked him about his last kiss!! ;)
Shush!
LOL 4:46, you don't know much about the arts do you. You'd ask Grandpa how to be on the cutting edge.
