Neil Patrick Harris used to be an underage doctor on TV. Now he’s another Hollywood first: an out gay actor who can host award shows, play a womanizer, walk the red carpet with his boyfriend, and then get cast in movies as a straight dad. Neat trick.
Coming out is its own kind of theatrical performance: It’s a reveal. For most of show-business history, it’s been more like an exposure — often in the aftermath of a scandal, as with George Michael. But then there was Ellen DeGeneres, whose famous "Yep, I’m Gay" on the cover of Time seemed to presage a new era of openness, an end to the double life. Instead, it hobbled her career until she returned, years later, as a talk-show host. That was twelve years ago, and each year there’s more give in the social fabric, with openly gay newscasters (Rachel Maddow), talk-show hosts (Rosie O’Donnell), singers (Michael Stipe), American Idols (Adam Lambert), comics (Mario Cantone), and actresses (Wanda Sykes, Sara Gilbert, Portia de Rossi, Cynthia Nixon). Even some long-closeted female stars have quietly shifted their status, including Lily Tomlin, Jodie Foster, and, most recently, Kelly McGillis.
Yet there’s one set of performers for whom coming out is still considered a career death sentence: male actors, particularly those who play romantic leads or star in action films. The few who are out — Alan Cumming, Nathan Lane, David Hyde Pierce, Ian McKellan — are seen as niche performers. Rupert Everett, once a contender for the first Gay Bond, has been relegated to the margins of the industry. When Grey’s Anatomy’s T. R. Knight came out, it underlined his lack of chemistry with his female co-stars. Meanwhile, a retinue of major stars hover in limbo, their relationships haunted by the suspicion that it’s all for show, their performances (onscreen or on talk shows) scrutinized for indicators of some hidden self. The assumption is that they have little choice, since the conventional wisdom hasn’t budged: An out male star can never be a leading man. Straight women won’t be able to fantasize about him; straight men won’t be able to relate.
Harris has violated all these expectations. He staged his own revelation beautifully, with a clear and upbeat statement for People magazine in 2006, an interview with Out, and a good-sport appearance on Howard Stern, in which he shot back "whatever you please, man" when asked whether he was a top or a bottom. The idea all along has been to acknowledge the fact of his sexuality, then change the subject to his talent. Still, there was a kind of alchemy involved. Maybe it was Harris’s easy style of masculinity, at once unthreatening and seductive. Maybe the timing was right, coming after he’d proved he was more than a Trivial Pursuit punch line. Or maybe he’d learned, from his own extended personal coming-out process, how to handle the expectations of a wider audience.
Harris is careful never to complain about stardom. He always adds a caveat explaining that he is very lucky, that he is grateful for every opportunity, that he has learned a lot. But if there’s a strain of early fame that feels like heavenly power — when you’re the most super-popular person in the room and everyone wants you to take them to bed — that’s clearly not what Neil Patrick Harris experienced at 16. Mention Doogie Howser, M.D., the diary-keeping prodigy he played on the show, and Harris’s whole body language changes. He grimaces, and an extra diagonal line on his forehead appears like an arrow pointing far away.
Back in those strange L.A. years, Harris says, he was preoccupied almost entirely by work. It was a distraction that allowed him not to think about dating. "There were gay adults in L.A., and that kind of made me panic a bit?" His voice rises uncertainly with the memory. "Made me a little sweaty in my palms — and uncomfortable. That was just kind of the elephant in the room. Or not the elephant in the room, but the ringing in my ears: that that was some sort of horrible inevitability. And I tried many different angles to head in a different direction. Dating different girls, being the funny, witty guy at the party, to avoid being the sexual being. I wasn’t thought of in a sexual way, which is easy when you have big ears and the neck and are called Doogie all the time. So I just never really contemplated physicalizing any kind of sexual ideas until much, much later."

«Oldest ‹Older 801 – 1000 of 1360 Newer› Newest»5:35 PM - Sorry, but Aniston's "poor me" attitude goes on my nerves. She annoyed me so much during Friends and when she dated Brad. It seemed she thought she was a goddess or something.
Heath looks so fine in those pics with Naomi Watts and Nicole Kidman. He is relaxed and in a good mood, he always looked like this with Naomi. He looked miserable with Michelle and the media and deluded fans tried to make it seem as if he was uncomfortable because he was too media shy.Bullshit, he was a professional and (without being media whore) he knew how to handle himself in the spotlight, after all, it was part of his job.He just needed to be with someone who he really liked :(
I wonder how Reeke is going to look in events and industry parties. Maybe they already hired a "couple coach", you know, like a personal trainer for HW couples, instead of teaching gym exercises, he teaches couples body language and how to behave in public as if they were real and in love. ;D
Hey, it's Hollywood! They have coachs for EVERYTHING!
Jen - when did she start dating after Brad?
Jen didn't need a "boyfriend" two weeks after Brad left her.
Jake actually smiles when he's around Jennifer.
Yes, he does! Everyone smiles around Jennifer.
I wonder how Reeke is going to look in events and industry parties.
No need to wonder, there is enough photos and videos of Reeke attending events and industry parties.
^^But no premieres or award shows. Nothing "big" yet.
They never walked a red carpet together or possed as a couple,at least, i dont remember it...
Oscars are award shows.
Vanity Fair party is one of the biggest Hollywood events.
Going for latte doesn't count, people could do that with their grandmothers.
Oscars, Vanity Fair and CAA parties are big industry events and Reeke were there.
P.S. Vanity Fair - Reeke were there because Reese couldn't go alone + Ryan and Abbie were there, too.

And i've seen more pics of Jake with Penelope Cruz than with Chin

Reeke decision. Doesn't change the fact that Reeke did attend big industry events.
They are actors. They are faking a relationship for 2 years. Posing 50 seconds for pictures is a piece of cake and I don't see what would be so special about it.
Please don't compare Reese and Jennifer.

First picture - that's George Segal on the stairs, right?
6:26, not everyone can fake being happy all the time, not even the best actor. You totally notice that somethings "off" most of the time.
My point is that every actor can fake for a few minutes in order to get good pictures.
My point is that every actor can fake for a few minutes in order to get good pictures.
Some don't even mangage that. Reeke are one of the best examples ... in the pics I've seen so far. ;)
True, that's why I still have hope for Jake.

" Jake said...

Ah don't be envious, you date one.
Jake is repeating himself - he said the same thing about Reese's beard!
Here’s the latest entry into the celebrity doll house: the fine folks at Lego have decided to make an action figure of Jake Gyllenhaal in the upcoming movie “Prince of Persia.” But, um, didn’t they forget something? And by that, I mean his insane hotness. Couldn’t they have at least given us a set of more chiseled abs or some seriously brooding eyes?
Hopefully, if they ever decide to make a figure of Jake in “Donnie Darko” or “Brokeback Mountain,” they’ll go for a more true-to-life approach.
The Frisky
Reeke can't look happy together for all the tea in China and she has an Oscar. True, it was ought by the studio, but still, you'd think she could act for the minute it takes to snap a photo.
Why has Ted been so quiet about Toothy lately? Could it be the engagement rumor isn't a rumor and Ted knows the announcement is coming soon?
I'm not a Reeke supporter, its just the silence is so loud from Ted and Reeke themselves.
Why has Ted been so quiet about Toothy lately?
Because people don't ask interesting Toothy questions?
Could it be the engagement rumor isn't a rumor and Ted knows the announcement is coming soon?
No, why would Ted care about Reeke engagement?
Couldn’t they have at least given us a set of more chiseled abs or some seriously brooding eyes?

We sat down for a 7 Things with an old Pop Vox pal this week, Wolverine and Australia star Hugh Jackman. First order of business: congratulating him on the big Emmy win for his Oscars writing team. He demurred, and in turn congratulated this year's Emmy and Tony host, Neil Patrick Harris, for possibly being the best host ever. Click the player to view!

Protesters at the G20 meeting in Pittsburgh have been met my an overwhelming and thoroughly militarized police response. Here's a video gallery of some on-the-ground confrontations yesterday and overnight.
Protesters at events like these are in many cases self-defeating and deliberately confrontational. But some of these videos look like outtakes from Children of Men. There are police in riot gear literally marching in lock-step formation ("Left! Left! Left, right, left!"), the apparent use of sonic weapons to disperse crowds, and an omnipresent creepy voice over a loudspeaker declaring, "By order of the Pittsburgh chief of police, I declare this an unlawful assembly." Last night, students at the University of Pittsburgh, including bystanders apparently hanging out news their student union, were gassed by riot police.

Anderson Cooper interviews former President Bill Clinton in a segment airing tonight (10pm ET) on AC360. Anderson asks Clinton about his recent statements about same-sex marriage, and why he changed his mind. In Toronto in May, while on a speaking tour with George W. Bush, Clinton described his position on same-sex marriage as "evolving". More recently, speaking at the Campus Progress National Conference in Washington, D.C., Clinton said, "I'm basically in support" of it.
In his most extensive remarks to date, Clinton now says he was "wrong" about same-sex marriage and was "hung up about the word."
Towleroad has obtained an advance transcript of Anderson Cooper's interview with Clinton. You can read it below, and watch a short clip.
AC: You said you recently changed your mind on same-sex marriage. I’m wondering what you mean by that. Do you now believe that gay people should have full rights to civil marriage nationwide?
CLINTON: I do. I think that, well let me get back to the last point, the last word. I believe historically, for two hundred and something years, marriage has been a question left to the states and the religious institutions. I still think that’s where it belongs. That is, I was against the constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage nationwide, and I still think that the American people should be able to play this side in debates.
But me, Bill Clinton personally, I changed my position. I am no longer opposed to that. I think if people want to make commitments that last a lifetime, they ought to be able to do it. I have long favored the right of gay couples to adopt children.
AC: What made you change your mind? Was there one thing?
CLINTON: I think, what made me change my mind, I looked up and said look at all of this stuff you’re for. I’ve always believed that—I’ve never supported all the moves of a few years ago to ban gay couples from adoption. Because they’re all these kids out there looking for a home. And the standard on all adoption cases is, what is the best interest of the child? And there are plenty of cases where the best interest of the child is to let the gay couple take them and give them a loving home. So I said, you know, I realized that I was over 60 years old, I grew up at a different time, and I was hung up about the word.
I had all these gay friends, I had all these gay couple friends, and I was hung up about it. And I decided I was wrong. That our society has an interest in coherence and strength and commitment and mutually reinforcing loyalties, then if gay couples want to call their union marriage and a state agrees, and several have now, or a religious body will sanction it, and I don’t think a state should be able to stop a religious body from saying it, I don’t think the rest of us should get in the way of it.
I think it’s a good thing not a bad thing. And I just realized that, I was, probably for, maybe just because of my age and the way I’ve grown up, I was wrong about that. I just had too many gay friends. I saw their relationships. I just decided I couldn’t, I had an untenable position.

Mamet's Anne Frank in Turnaround from Disney
When it seemed as if “The Diary of Anne Frank” was going to be remade, that sounded like it could be a Disney movie.
But when adapted by provocateur playwright and filmmaker David Mamet as a pro-Israel exploration of anti-Semitism movie set in contemporary times – the project became less likely to be made by the Walt Disney Company. And so it has gone. Developed by the studio’s chief of production, Oren Aviv, the project was recently rejected by the studio as “too dark” and put in turnaround, according to people involved.
The writer who took on ethnic politics in the play “Race,” and sexual politics in works like “Oleanna,” takes on modern anti-Semitism in “The Diary of Anne Frank.” But the screenplay is not a retelling of the famous Holocaust drama taken from the diaries of Frank, but about a contemporary Jewish girl who goes to Israel and learns about the traumas of suicide bombing.
With the studio in a state of limbo after the ouster of chairman Dick Cook, it is unlikely that any projects will be getting the go-ahead at the moment, say executives doing business there. "It's very intense, and dark and scary," said the executive. "It's not a film version of 'The Diary of Anne Frank.' The story evolved into something more intense."
The Wrap
Dear Ted:
This is not really a question but I felt as if it must be said (or typed). I know a lot of people out there really want those gay stars to come out. People even say, "I will love them no matter what"! What you have to remember is that even California voters shot down Prop 8. There is even less tolerance in many of the other 50 states either. They can't come out! What would it do to them? They have a lot more people to worry about than just their fans! Please let them be! Ted, you can keep us guessing with your BVs. I love that s--t!
—Carissa
Dear Out and About:
If every last gay man and woman came out, there wouldn't be a person left on earth who didn't personally know a homosexual. Some careers in the present would suffer, but for the greater good for those after them. And ya know what? Neil Patrick Harris has never been a more coveted actor/host in his life, and he came out years ago to absolutely no negative stigma at all. Stars shouldn't keep closeted "just in case" people might react otherwise.
Awful Truth
Dear Ted:
Why don't we ask about Russell Crowe? Same reason you don't post shirtless pictures of him on your Web page. He's a douche whose sex appeal didn't last beyond the time it took to film Gladiator. In the interests of balance and just so you don't think we believe all gay men are well groomed with nice hair, please dish about Vin Diesel, John Travolta and Mike Myers. We won't give a rat's ass about the answer, though, because we mostly prefer well-groomed men with nice hair, but knock yourself out.
—Kitty
Dear Blech Men:
Uh, do I have to talk about Mike Myers? I'd much prefer not, mostly because any goss on the notoriously aggravating man has already been spread and he hasn't done one smart career move in years—even his five seconds working with Tarantino in Inglourious Basterds was a huge letdown.
Dear Ted:
I'm so happy to read so many supporters have taken the words right out of my mouth...you do what you need to do to cope with your current crisis! My mom always said you have to pick your vices carefully, and if you're like me cigarettes are the least dangerous of those vices. This is a little trick that helped me when I cut back (but I never did completely cut out)—smoke American Spirits. They are packed hard and full and it's kind of a chore to finish one. It will slow you down, anyway. I started smoking half of one instead of sucking down a whole Parliament, and now I smoke a half to one a day. You'll find somebody right for you, no doubt in my mind! You're rocking the Harrison Ford-when-he-was-still-hot thing—hell, you could probably land a straight dude.
—Ang and friends
Dear Smokin':
Oh goody, a sloppily dressed straight dude who has no idea what he's doing with another man in the sack—can't friggin' wait to get my hands on that. Thanks for the compliment, though, babe, Indiana Jones and Han Solo are some classic cinematic studs.
Dear Ted:
I was hoping you could clear something up for me relating to a rumor I've heard on and off for the last decade or so. To the best of your knowledge, is there any truth to the rumor that Keanu Reeves and River Phoenix were more than just friends?
—Radha
Dear Let the Dead Rest:
Of course they were more than just friends. They were also costars.
Please let them be! Ted, you can keep us guessing with your BVs. I love that s--t!

I went to imdb.com to have a look around and clicked my way to Jake Gyllenhaals page, where it was stated that he had been on News in the Morning to talk about Heath Ledger.I found it rather peculiar, since he has never mentioned his death in the media ever, from what I have heard.
Does anybody know anything about this, and if it exists... where can I find a clip?

Sure, I know that very well, guess I must have expressed myself somewhat unclearly there. On imdb you get the impression that Jake had finally spoken up on the matter of Heath's death, which I found a bit strange and misleading."
And that was it.
Much fuss about basically nothing, I suppose?

Even though IUC outed Jake Gyllenhaal yesterday, I’m reserving judgment on this new development until I see more proof. IUC spoke to a prominent West Hollywood man today who claims he was “intimate” with “Toothy” going far as back as 2004. The man, in his mid forties, told IUC he has evidence and is planning to reveal more bits soon. This is the fifth time in the last three weeks IUC has been in contact with the man, who used to live in a Beverly Hills mansion before moving to West Hollywood.

IUC Exclusive: IUC Investigation Reveals Jake Gyllenhaal Definitely a Flaming Poofter - Relationship with Reese is Toast
In case you hadn’t noticed, I removed the photo of Jake Gyllenhaal today from my list, featuring a photo of one celeb who is not gay.
Does this mean that I’m outing Jake? Is the Pope German?
The worst kept secret in Hollywood is that for almost four years,
Gyllenhaal has been anxious to break out of the celluloid closet. My
old friend Ted Casablanca has posted repeated notorious blind items
about this since 2005, discussing a mysterious celeb who he dubbed
“Toothy Tile,” documenting Gyllenhaal’s baby steps out of the closet,
only to be shoved firmly back in at the insistence of his publicists
and management who advised Jake that it would be career suicide for
him to take the leap.
This has resulted in the increasingly sad spectacle of Jake hitting
the town with a series of beards in the fine old tradition of
Hollywood. Think James Dean and Nathalie Wood. Or, more accurately
Cary Grant and Randolph Scott, who used to publicly hold hands and
gaze longingly into each other’s eyes at the Brown Derby restaurant
in Hollywood, as Toothy Tile was said to have done surreptitiously at
a restaurant with his boyfriend in one of Ted’s earliest blind items.
Unfortunately, Ted’s lawyers at E have put a straitjacket on him,
preventing him from releasing the name of the subject of the world’s
most famous blind item (though Ted refused to confirm this to me when
I had him on IUC for a live chat a couple of weeks ago.)
For a complete archive of Casablanca’s four-year documentation of the
increasingly sad Toothy Tile’s revolving closet doors, check out
www.toothytile.com.

I'm not a fan of Gilliam, but I'll watch the movie for Heath and Johnny Depp. I'm a fan of both.
ONTD comment:
Anyone else a little sad to see this released? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for them releasing it, I think it's going to be brilliant, and I can't wait to see it.
But once it's out, that's it, we'll have nothing more to look forward to out of Heath. In a way, he's not really gone yet because we still have this movie to look forward to, another new performance.
I'm not ready for it to all be over yet.

Ok all, I promise this will be my LAST article EVER to mention Robert Pattinson (well unless he becomes involved in some bizarre snorkeling accident involving an angry starfish or something). Anyway, I’ve been hearing a lot of responses to my “Top Ten Greatest Actors” list stating that RPatz is “just starting out” and can’t be compared to anyone that I mentioned, and that it isn’t fair. WAAAAAHH!!! Of course, that wasn’t even the point of the article, as I was merely responding to a question asking me what I thought ‘great acting’ was. That being said, let me state unequivocally that I don’t have some kind of bias against young good looking actors, quite the contrary, I feel there are a bunch of ‘em out there that have a tremendous amount of potential. So in the interest of closure, here is my list of 10 young actors under 30 whom I think possess ‘the goods’ that Pattinson sadly does not.
...
1) Jake Gyllenhaal
Already nominated for an Oscar for his heartbreakingly brilliant portrayal of Jack Twist in “Brokeback Mountain,” Jake Gyllenhaal is on his way to become a truly ‘great’ actor. His role as a conflicted Marine in “Jarhead” was raw and gripping in an otherwise underwhelming film, and “Donnie Darko” has become a veritable cult-classic, having much to do with the layered performance he turned in. On a side note, Jake was one of the major names mentioned in the casting for “Spider Man,” and I really believe he would have been the better choice over Tobey Maguire. It’s not that I dislike Maguire (in fact, he would have made this list if he were a few years younger), it’s just that Jake has all the elements that would have made a classic Peter Parker. There are rumblings, in fact, that Sony Pictures studio is thinking of replacing Maguire with Gyllenhaal, so I’ll definitely be rooting for that. Anyway, the sky’s the limit for Jake as far as his career goes. “Prince of Persia” will be his next big release, and it should be interesting to see how it does. Personally, making a movie out of a video game doesn’t sound like a very compelling concept to me, but who knows? Either way, Jake’s gonna do just fine in the future!
So that’s that…my “Top Ten Young Actors Under 30″. I hope we all can now have peace in the valley, hold hands and sing Kumbaya in resounding harmony.
The Faster Times
^^Seems people still have high hopes for Jake's career. Good to see that.
Jake,
this is just for you, a small reward for your No 1!
Hot Guys Without Their Shirts
^^^ I'm sure Jake won't mind if I take a look :)
"There are rumblings, in fact, that Sony Pictures studio is thinking of replacing Maguire with Gyllenhaal, so I’ll definitely be rooting for that."
She must be confused from the time Tobey was hurt. This would not happen for many reasons now.
1. POP would have to fail miserably before Disney would allow its newest franchise star to jump shift to a competitor.
2. Sony would have to replace Kirsten as well. Kirsten is only doing the next sequel because of Tobey.
3. If Kirsten does agree to do the Spiderman movie with Jake, Reese wouldn't allow it. But this could be his way out from under the chin. I highly doubt Kirsten would be that disloyal to Tobey because she only sign on for the sequel because of him and the director.
Has anyone ever heard the rumor that Kirsten broke up with Jake and not the other way its been spinned?
Supposedly she caught him with a guy.
Interesting to see what has come from those "announcements" of Ian Halperin - nothing......
Journalist my a**. He has just repeated old stories which we already knew - where are his so-callled proofs, pictures, the "mogul"? *LOL*
But he has already found a new target - poor Michael Jackson.
Jake broke up with Kiki because she had a serious drug and alcohol problem. Maybe still has. Recent rehab didn't really bring much it seems, she was seen partying and drinking again.
Jake breaking up with Kiki had nothing to do with her drug and alcohol problem, it was about Jake being gay.
Supposedly she caught him with a guy.
Just once? lol
If Kirsten does agree to do the Spiderman movie with Jake, Reese wouldn't allow it.
Who would ask the chin about her opinion?! No one.
tashiaw: Jake Gyllenhal in Apple store again -- now to watch the Hawkeyes thump Penn State.
Jake's PR needs to stop spinning the Spiderman crap, that ship sailed long ago. Isn't Pop enough?
Maybe Jake left Kiki becauseof many reasons? 1. Her drug and alcohol addiction. 2. He prefered sleeping with Austin. 3. She seems not to be very clean. According to some people who met her she stinks literally.
4. She was/is unfriendly oftentimes and used to embarrass Jake, who had to appologize for her numerous times.
Jake had many reasons to quit her.
Spinning the Spiderman crap is much better than spinning the Reeke crap! lol
Jake had many reasons to quit her.
And Kiki had one big reason to quit Jake.
Did Kiki or Jake ever talk about the break up?

Kirsten Dunst: 'I'll Never Date Another Actor'
Kirsten Dunst has been dating Razorlight frontman Johnny Borrell – and apparently rock stars make better boyfriends that movie stars.
"I don't ever want to date another actor again," the Spider-Man 3 star, 24, tells Jane magazine in its May issue.
"This quote is probably going to come back in my face, but I know someone who has a great saying: 'There are no actors, there are only actresses,' " she continues. "Sometimes creative people can be very dark and destructive." Still, Dunst, who dated Jake Gyllenhaal off and on for nearly two years before they split last year, admits: "I'm only saying bad things. I do know a few actors who are good and sweet and adorable."
Dunst shares the Jane cover with her Spider-Man 3 costar Bryce Dallas Howard, 26, who married actor Seth Gabel last June and welcomed a son in February. "I wish I were in a Bryce stage," Dunst says. "I'd rather be with someone I love, at home making dinner, than be single, for sure."
How does she know if a guy is boyfriend material? "For me, it's an intuitive thing," she says. "I have to be blown away or have a really good conversation and laugh with the person right away." And she's optimistic that she'll be in a "Bryce stage" fairly soon: "Manny, who did our hair for Spider-Man 3, gives me advice and is soulful. He says I'm going to be pregnant within two years."
People magazine
before they split last year
Wrong - 2005 was two years ago. Not even People magazine bothers with simple facts.
Has anyone ever heard the rumor that Kirsten broke up with Jake and not the other way its been spinned? Supposedly she caught him with a guy.
"Jake has been dating this guy for years, even before he broke up with Kirsten Dunst. Kirsten Dunst found out about his bf and confronted him at Chateau Marmont. The confrontation was loud and they broke up right there."

Back in early 2006, Lainey posted that Jake was being whiny about a number of thing, one was tghe fact that Jarhead wasn't the hit that he had hoped and blamed his handlers, and that Kiki dragging him down.
Jake and Kiki broke up in '04 and got back together in '05 reportly at Jake's urging. But by that time Kiki's drug use was more wide spread and it started to taint Jake which why he finally dumped her in late 2005.
Supposedly Maggie and Kiki were friends before he hooked up with kiki, Maggie and Kiki had a major falling out which had nothing to do with Jake which is why she objected to them getting back together.
Kiki was usefull to Jake until he brcame "tainted" with the drug rumors and her druggy friends that he used to hang out with.
From all reports not only was Kiki a junkie, but smelled, was snotty to fans, rude and acted like an ass in public, but I guess Jake put up witg it because she was Spiderman's GF. I'm sure he was in love with her based on some pap pics even though most of them looked staged but she was A-list and that was just as important IMO.
Back in early 2006, Lainey...
Lainey is the last person to be believed about Jake gossip.
9:34: Ah, Johnathan Jackson. He got that piece of fan fic based on several sightings of Jake and kiki at that hotel where they used to hang out and get high with her druggie friends. There were sightings then of them and a few of them arguing, he added getting caught to those old sightings. I they were arguing about something so personal in public back then, it would have been gossiped about, not several years later on Jackson's blog.
I always wondered who fed Jackson those recycled TT BI's with added "info": The restauraunt where he was allegedly "warned" by cops, the hospital where BT was allegedly born. They obviously knewe they had a sucker and the reason was to push the story outside of Tedland, but who? At the time it was rumored that some fangirls on Fanchitchat were the culprits.
To bad it blew up in the faces of them, Jackson and Ted, who had his "blessings" as he had Ian's "blessings".
BTW, before Jackson deledted all his old posts on what's left of his site, he had one last Reeke post from the summer of 2008 congratulating them on moving in together and hoping for a wedding, LOL!!!
Just as bad as Ian's "investigation".
9:48 That gossip rang true based on his behavior at the time: cancelling his appearences on talk shows in Dec. to promote BBM because he was jealous of the Heath praise. There was really no explanation foe his cancellations and some speculated that Finch wouldn't let him because he was filming Zodiac which was bull since he was allowed to promote Jarhead in Nov. (Zodiac filming started in Oct.)
He was whining and compaling before Lainey reported on it. He was pissed that he didn't get a GG nom. and didn't go to the awards, Zodiac filming was the excuse which was BS because he showed at some after party later, I guess his people told him to stop acting like a jack-ass or he won't get a AA nom.
Fangirls at the time had a fit that Lainey had the nerve to smear Jakey-poop.
To bad it blew up in the faces of them, Jackson and Ted, who had his "blessings" as he had Ian's "blessings".
Ted has nothing to do with Jackson.
What blew up in their faces?
He was whining and compaling before Lainey reported on it.
Link, please.
He was pissed that he didn't get a GG nom. and didn't go to the awards, Zodiac filming was the excuse which was BS because he showed at some after party later
IIRC, "some after party later" was that Golden Globes after party.
he was jealous of the Heath praise.
This is sad to read but it looked that way.
Sorry, that "explanation" for Jake not attending Golden Globe Awards show is ridiculous.
It pains me how ill-informed some of you are about the movie-making business but will post crap as if you know it to be true.
It's true Jake was filming Zodiac during the BBM promo time. We all know Fincher is a slavedriver of a director. So what's so hard to understand that some of the appearances Jake was supposed to make during BBM promo time happened to coincide with Fincher's filming schedule? When Jake didn't attend that awards show but did show up at the after-party, wasn't it possible that he had been filming earlier, finished for the night, and was able to attend the after-party?
For all we know some of Jake's BBM appearances could have conflicted with his on-location shooting in San Francisco.
Stop rushing to judgment on things you know noting about.
If Jake was jealous of the praise Heath got for BBM when they were supposedly friends and Jake was praised too I wonder how he felt about Heath’s praise for TDK. The Chin being a jealous bitch by nature probably rubbed off on him even more.
Thanks 10:29. That sounds about right. Poor Jake, just doing his job, but getting accused of being jealous of his former co-star. He really can't win can he.
10:08: Yes I know it was the GG after party, an industry party that he probably was urged to go to seeing that he was a no-show at the actual awards show. No pesky reporters to ask him questions at that GG party.
The link to that Lainey post was posted here before, I don't feel like looking for it. It should be in her archives for January 2006.
The fangirls on Fanchitchat fed Jackson that TT BS, I know because I used to post on there. They became aware of Jackson when he did a list of gay actors and Jake wasn't on it. They realized that he was dumb so they e-mailed him crap pretending to be an "insider", for some reason he never heard of the TT BV's so it was easy to embellish an already embellished tale.
Ted was aware of it and went on "vacation" in Aug. 07 at the same time of his "revelations".
When he returned he made some cryptic comments about a blogger about to out TT in some rag, this was before the NE picked up on it and debuked the story, the BT story anyway, this was in Sept. '07.
At the time it was speculated that Ted was trying to push the story into the mainstream using other gossip columnists. That was the 2nd time that it happened, the first time was back in April 2006 when MK posted that false story about him coming out based on a fangirl sending him BS , she used to post on ONTD, it was later revealed that the fangirl was one of Ted's interns at the time , Caroline who was registered at ONTD along with Cristina, another Ted intern. Caroline said that she was kidding when she sent that to MK. MK wasn't involved and had no idea who she was. She then deleted her ONTD account along with Christina.
Star picked up the story a few weeks later. Next up Jackson who had ties to NE, he peddled the story to them and the FF fangirls and Ted were all excited thinking it was going to be a big outing crediting Ted , but you all know what happened with that: a denial and Jackson became a joke. When he did the BT post a few months later, no one paid him any mind, that's what I mean by blowing up in their faces.
Then Ted, after appearing on Ian's show and probably giving him his "blessings" by referring to the toothytile archives that Ian used for his fanfic, then he all of sudden dropped it, LOL!!!
Foiled again.
Jake was jealous of Heath when BBM first came out. He 'wised" up later when word got bsck to him that some industry people didn't like what they were hearing.
Jake's whining, immature, egotistical behavior was gossiped about before, along withhis Mr, nice guy personia, way before Reese.
Take off your blinders.
One of the producers of BBM was asked at the time how Jake was handling the Heath praise, he said that it was hard but he was handling it. The GG awards was brought up and his non-attendance, he dodged it saying it's been hard, no mention of Zodiac filming.
I forgot his name.
Please stop with that "jealous of the praise Heath got" nonsense. Do you really believe Jake is a sociopath?
Jake was jealous of Heath when BBM first came out.
Is Jake jealous of all actors and actresses who are better than him or get more praise than him, or just Heath?
^^I think Oprah got wind of the jealous rumors that's why she addressed it on the show. Take a look at how Jake and Heath look at each other when she asks it, Jake turned to Heath to assure, he was not jealous. Watch the video on IHJ media. I think Jake was disappointed Jarhead wasn't as well received... and that Heath got most of the praise probably wasn't very easy. But all in all I think he liked Heath and Heath wouldn't have chosen him as godfather, no matter if it's just celeb gf, if they had problems.
"September 27, 2009 10:36 AM
Wow you have answer for everything, so I assume you don't believe Jake is gay?
So you don't believe any of the non gossip columnists accounts of Jake being caught with other men?
As far as Lainey vs Ted or Ian, what makes her more believable to you, could be because you don't believe Jake is gay? People tend to believe the gossip columnists who share their observations.
So calling people "fangirls" who beleive Jake is gay, what does that make you who probably believes in Reeke and pretty blue eyed babies?
September 27, 2009 10:36 AM
Wow you have answer for everything, so I assume you don't believe Jake is gay?
Trolly knows everything. LMAO
Trolly knows Jake is gay.
P.S. Trolly knows Jake is gay but would never admit that.
10:08: Yes I know it was the GG after party, an industry party that he probably was urged to go to seeing that he was a no-show at the actual awards show. No pesky reporters to ask him questions at that GG party.
Jake was avoiding reporters because he didn't want publicity?! LOL, bullshit.
Roman Polanski arrested!
article
He recently shot the fake parfume ad with Natalie Portman and Michelle Williams.
I'd personally never support a pedophile, esp. if I have a little kid myself like Michelle. Very disappointing that she worked with him.
Millions didn't have a problem with supporting Michael Jackson.
Ted has called Jake egotistical and that poster on Maggie's IMDB board sonofire who lives in Brooklyn and knows, Maggie, Peter, Michele and Jake called Jake a Jake-ass.
Being jealous of someone doesn't make one a sociopath and it doesn't mean he doesn't like the person, just means he was jealous, period.
The appearance on Oprah was used to disspell the rumors.
Jake was embarrassed, of course he didn't want reporters asking about the jealous rumors, Oprah was "safe". The GG party was a safe CAA party, no worries there, just shoing up playing the supportu=ive castmate.
There are 2 types of fangirls: The JIG fangirls and the JIS fangirls, the former was the ones involved in the Jackson BS, they are crawling all over or at least were on ONTD and FCC at thet time. Tey were also sloppy, chatty and way too obvious.
Stop getting your panties tied into a knot because Jakey-poop isn't perfect.
Jackson - While I don't believe Arviso's accusations, I do believe he commited statutory rape with Jordan Chandler. I think Jackson was an immensly talented guy, but deeply disturbed too. He needed help.
Millions didn't have a problem with supporting Michael Jackson.

Is Jake jealous of all actors and actresses who are better than him or get more praise than him, or just Heath?

There are only JIS fangirls.
Fangirls by definition can't claim that their object of admiration is a liar.
Is Jake jealous of all actors and actresses who are better than him or get more praise than him, or just Heath?
How can anyone here know that? But when you are in a film and your colleague gets more praise, it sure can't be easy. On top of that a film you had high hopes for (Jarhead) wasn't as successful as everyone involved was hoping for.
Doesn't matter anymore, it's water under the bridge. Let's move on!
LMAO
...Lainey, January 04, 2006
"The point is that we all have our fantasy lovers. And I think five is a good number.
Unfortunately, at the moment, the fifth spot on my list is vacant. It was occupied a few weeks ago by Jake Gyllenhaal who has sinced turned into a sulky bitch and I'm not so much of a narcissist to say that petty whiny spoiled brats turn me on. So I've been taking nominations. Heath Ledger is gaining momentum. And since I love hopping on bandwagons, you just might find his name there in a week or two, depending on what happens at the Golden Globes."
Lainey was wrong as usual. Jake got Oscar nomination and BAFTA, nothing to complain about.
The Lainey lover still has not answered my question, whats makes Lainey an expert on Jake? How does she know more about him than does Ted or anyone else for that matter? She's a Reese lover or more importantly a Ryan hater? Oh yeah by the way, who calls a "straight" man a "sulky bitch"?
This was before any of that, 11:41 AM. I think that Oprah addressing the rumors in her show and Jake's absence at the GGs are proof enough there was jealousy there.
LMAO, part deux.
Maggie, in an interview for Secretary.
"The 40-year-old Shainberg was obviously taken with his young star, and willing to treat her as an equal. But this didn't go down well with all of the cast. In fact, Lesley Ann Warren (who plays Lee's mother) was very put out. "She was just so jealous, so paranoid," says Gyllenhaal, with a stricken look. "I watched the dailies and I went to her later and said, 'You were great,' and somehow she took it into her head that I hated her in the film and was going to get her edited out of it! I kept trying to be nice, but she was such a bitch, in the end I gave up."

It was pre Bafta win, when the GG noms came out and he got none, that's what supposedly made him pissy. But so what? Who cares anymore? It's over. Could we leave this BS behind and let Heath rest in peace and not repeat old things for the 100th time? It always gives me a bad feeling when he's dicussed here by Jake's fans. Biased place (even if some pretend not to be). It's wrong. Every real Heath fan wouldn't bring him up here of all places. Go to fansits. There are enough.
I think that Oprah addressing the rumors in her show and Jake's absence at the GGs are proof enough there was jealousy there.
That doesn't prove a thing and that jealousy gossip doesn't make sense at all - we have seen how Jake acted around Heath during BBMt promotion.
It always gives me a bad feeling when he's dicussed here by Jake's fans.
Jake fans are Beelzebubs?

Jake and Maggie were both spoiled brats. I think they aren't like that anymore though. What Jake says here sounds pretentious as hell.
I read he wasn't very popular in high school. Supposedly he was a know it all.
Jake got Oscar nomination and BAFTA, nothing to complain about.
Jake got a BAFTA only because double BAFTA nominee George Clooney ("Syriana," "Good Night, and Good Luck") split his own votes. It's long been laughed about in the industry. Jake won with very few votes. (London oddsmakers were all betting on George Clooney. At the Oscars, where Clooney and Gyllenhaal were also nominated, none of the bookies put Jake in contention at all.)
I agree, take the Heath talk to his fansites.
"She was just so jealous, so paranoid," says Gyllenhaal, with a stricken look. "I watched the dailies and I went to her later and said, 'You were great,' and somehow she took it into her head that I hated her in the film and was going to get her edited out of it!
You can't be friends will all colleagues, that's understandable. But during BBMt promotion Jake and Heath were friends, they were proud of their movie and knew that a lot of other people are responsible for the movie's success too: Annie, Ang, Anne, Michelle...
Jim Sheridan's exciting new projects:
JS
Every real Heath fan wouldn't bring him up here of all places.
Are you kidding? There are no Heath fans here.
Some of Sheridan's upcoming movies sound good. If Brothers or Jake's performance turn out fine, maybe Sheridan will consider hiring him again?

Give us a break. By the way, didn't you notice that we are trashing Jake today?

Who is trashing him? It's just old gossip that some are discussing.
Who agrees that Jake looks hot in the PoP stills?

We first need to find out how Sheridan and Jake got along :)
Who agrees that Jake looks hot in the PoP stills?
What were they thinking? Were they trying to make Jake look less attractive?

Hm, idk, I think he's looking good...

Give him a break. He was nominated. Which was more than most actors and he won. Even if it was one vote, he won. Why are you taking that away from him? He won. You didn't.
Give him a break. He was nominated. Which was more than most actors and he won. Even if it was one vote, he won. Why are you taking that away from him? He won. You didn't.
No one can take this away from him. Jake is still young and ambitious (which is a positive thing to me) and he'll probably win some more awards in his life. :)
He won. You didn't.
You're mixing me up with a nominated actor, dearie.
You are right that it may have been one vote, though. lol
Awards are good for publicity, but that's it. Adrien Brody has an Oscar, Johnny Depp doesn't.
Don't get pissed because someone posted some gossip about Jake circa 1/06 here, since when does anyone here offended about posting ancient gossip. You are just pissed because you know its true and poinst Jakey-poop in a dim light.
Never said Lainey was an expert on Jake gossip, no one is IMO, just people repeating crap and adding their own spin.
Jake acting nice around BBM promo was pre-awards, Aug.-Sept. '05 before the movie came out in Dec. About time they appeared on Oprah in Jan. it was already gossiped elsewhere he was jealous, Lainey was just repeating the gossip. Odd thatafter the Ophrah appearence Jake appeared on Leno and was asked if he was going to the GG and he said yes. I think this is also when he said that he was didn't like the kissing scenes and blocked it out.
Jake and Heath presented Ang with the Director's guild award and presented at the SAgawards but this was after the jealousy chatter. He did get a SAG nom. an AA nom and a Bafta nom. and win.
At that point Jake-poop and everyone else knew that despite the praise, Heath wasn't winning any major awards because of PS Hoffman.
Awards are good for publicity, but that's it. Adrien Brody has an Oscar, Johnny Depp doesn't.
Heath has an Oscar (which some here saw it comming, like his death ;)) and Jake doesn't. But Jake has a much more respectable filmography than Heath who only showed what he can in Monster's Ball and people only praised him so much for BBM, because he surprised them, right?
;)
You are right that it may have been one vote, though.
Jake and Heath's performances in BBMt would be unforgettable with and without awards.
^^...coming...
I was just correcting my spelling mistake in 12:55 PM.
Jake has a much more respectable filmography than Heath who only showed what he can in Monster's Ball and people only praised him so much for BBM, because he surprised them, right?
That's what you can read on Gyllenbabble by some Babblers and some Jake fans on WFT2 think that too, but wouldn't admit it.

The problem with that gossip is that it doesn't make any sense and there is nothing to support it.
Is there any proof that what Ted says about Jake aka Toothy is the truth? No. Either you believe him or you don't. Same as with Lainey or Perez, etc...
That's what you can read on Gyllenbabble by some Babblers and some Jake fans on WFT2 think that too, but wouldn't admit it.
You can't measure movies and performances like oranges.
Same as with Lainey or Perez, etc...
Exactly. Lainey is selling straight Jake and Reeke. I ain't buying anything from her.
I think dismissing Heath and his work makes some posters feel better about Jake, here and on Gyllenbabble. Just like noone can take away Jake's Bafta, noone can take away Heath's Oscar, Golden Globe, Bafta or other awards.
No 1:23 PM, Reeke has nothing to do with a real romance.
As far as Heath's work on IMB, it seems to me he picked work that he wanted to do as an actor not to be a star. Jake wants to be a star not an actor. Heath was his own person, some of his works were a "f@#!k you" to Hollywood. Look at who Heath's friends were in Hollywood, respected actors known for taking chances.
Someone mentioned how Jake acted around Heath. I think Jake's not the only one, many seemed to like Heath. Anne and many others described him as very generous and someone who was all "give, give, give". He let people live in his house, use his computer, he paid his friend's plane tickets to visit him etc... I mean, of course he was liked. LOL.
OTOH, he was a playboy and changed his women like underwear.
Nobody is perfect.
I wish I knew how to quit Jake Gyllenhaal.
Me too. But I can't. I'm addicted to Jake. ;)
"No 1:23 PM, Reeke has nothing to do with a real romance."
I want to believe you because I do believe Reeke is more about business than anything else.
Pitt isn't a risk taker either, but all his career he was lucky to work with good directors and star in really good movies, like IB with Tarantino most recently.
1:05: Makes sense to me. Jake had no idea that BBM was going to be a bigger hit than Jarhead. Jarhead was the film that was going to get him praise, and hopefully an AA nom. BBM was just some small indie film with a top notch director sure, but he and everyone else had no idea. Heath wasn't a threat then, but he was in Dec. after it came out. Jake and Heath didn't appear in pulic exceot at the award shows in Jan/Feb. And on the biggest night of them all, the AA you couldn't even get them to pose together, odd. Not one AA award pic of not only them together but not with Lee nor Larry and Diana who won for best adapt. screenplay.
I don't think he's all that as an actor either, but he's one lucky fellow this Mr. Pitt.
Heath wasn't a threat then, but he was in Dec. after it came out.
What kind of threat? There were 20 other actors who had a chance for leading role nomination, why would Jake have a problem only with Heath?
Talking about BBM cast and crew. Jake Shamus' crush on Jake was too obvious. LOL.
I'm irresistible!
Just let Heath and Heath's and Jake's friendship rest in peace. There must have been some affection there, he's Matilda's godfather whether an active one or not, thats between Jake and Michelle now. If Jake was jealous, so what, its a human emotion.
