Never. Did I mention never? Jake has visibly proven (that means factually) that Austin has been in his life since 2002 clear up to near present (because of course, we don't have any pictures since SXSW 2016 although we do have that whole Michigan connection via Twitter. LOL!). They were co stars in a movie. They have proven that they still "keep in touch".

ReplyDeleteBut, in my opinion at the very least, it’s a brilliantly fascinating, dazzlingly big, and delectably weird performance. One that its in perfectly with Jake Gyllenhaal’s best work.
Because here’s the secret no one knows. Here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud and the sky of the sky of an actor called Jake. His chiseled good looks have fooled Hollywood on many occasions, but Jake Gyllenhaal’s true purpose in the Hollywood ecosystem is not to be a handsome leading man. It’s to be a weird little troll. Sometimes with leading-man good looks to disarm people, sure. But mostly the looks are inconsequential. Jake is here to be weird, and we should only ever let him.
Take a quick tour through Gyllenhaal’s filmography and you’ll know it’s true. His least successful roles — Love & Other Drugs; The Prince of Persia; even the otherwise junky-good The Day After Tomorrow — are the ones that were most closely tied to a traditional leading-man career plan. Which fully disregards the fact that Gyllenhaal’s career kicked off with an uninterrupted string of teenage weirdos, from Bubble Boy to Donnie Darko to The Good Girl. Then somewhere around the time he was considered for the Spider-Man role, when Tobey Maguire was maybe going to get replaced for Spider-Man 3, all of a sudden Hollywood starting thinking of him as a leading man, and they couldn’t get it out of their heads. He had his successes, of course.
It wasn’t until Nightcrawler, really, that everybody seemed to realize that we like Gyllenhaal best when he’s anywhere from a little to a lot unhinged. Look at even movies like Zodiac, Prisoners, or Nocturnal Animals, three films where Gyllenhaal plays fairly traditional types of roles (a reporter, a cop, a besieged family man); all three of those performances have an obsessive, twitchy quality to them. You can decide for yourselves whether the performances are all successful (for my money, two of the three are), but he is clearly much more comfortable and memorable playing to these characters’ strangeness.
And so we sit here and endure the Southpaws and Demolitions and all the other movies where Hollywood continues to try and mold Jake Gyllenhaal into the leading man he’s not rather than enjoying the hell out of a movie like Okja that lets him be exactly who we want him to be: a deeply weird and unsettling former Bubble Boy.

Q: Was there anyone you modeled the character of Dr. Johnny Wilcox after?
A: We had done a lot of research on the character based on animal experts like Steve Irwin and Jack Hanna. Jack Hanna used to come on David Letterman, and his clothing is pretty close to what Dr. Johnny wears. And a lot of it we based on a character from a UK show Animal Magic starring a guy called Johnny Morris. Jon Ronson, the film’s co-writer is from England so he also knew that show.
Q: Once you had Jake with you and were trying clothes on him, did it take a while to find the right outfits?
A: He kind of jumped into it and the character and went for it. He kind of hitched those shorts up and that became a thing. The shorts were like you could see his thighs. And the hat became very important. We tried a bunch of stuff on but it actually came together quite quickly.
The shorts are specific traveler explorer shorts. They’re from a company that specializes in that. The shirt was very thin and tropical. A shirt company Eton Shirts worked with us on that. They had this amazing shirt in their collection that, when you go in closely, has little tiny animals all over it, which is very fun.

Mgmnt back in 2012 --> oh, say at least through 2015, were persistent in placing Jake in New York City. It was his new home!! They sold his Los Angeles home, making a huge deal about it, and he could not talk in interviews enough about how he had left LA and NYC was his home now because that's where his family was. Only he wasn't talking about the family that he and Austin have, but about his original family, meaning his mother, sister and her family.
But we would catch Jake repeatedly in Los Angeles when he wasn't supposed to be, particularly like during the time he was performing in If There Is, I Haven't Found It Yet. ReplyDeleteFilming is starting on July 12 in New York. Maven Pictures is producing the film, based on Nadav Lapid’s Israeli film of the same name. Gyllenhaal is also producing along with Maven Pictures co-founders Trudie Styler, Celine Rattray, and Talia Kleinhendler.
Sara Colangelo is directing from her own adapted screenplay in which a kindergarten teacher who grows more and more numb each day she remains stuck in her mundane Staten Island life. When she discovers what may be a prodigious five-year old poet in her class, she becomes obsessed with the child and his talent– risking her career, family, and freedom.
Gyllenhaal came on board the project in late May. She received an Academy Award nomination for “Crazy Heart” and won a Golden Globe for her work in the BBC miniseries “The Honourable Woman.”

ReplyDeleteJake Gyllenhaal only did one thing this week as far as I can tell, and it was the classic Jake behavior of sporting a graphic tee in front of the paparazzi. The shirt said "New horrors old dreams," which could be a reference to anything I guess, but not a thing with a coherent Google Search result. I half-suspect it's a #Resistance sentiment, as Jake does love symbolic-only commitments to social justice. Otherwise it's something he saw on Tumblr. Maybe it's a shirt I made for him, wouldn't you like to know.
Jake wore this odd item to a Raf Simons fashion show in a Chinatown night market, where all the clothes were inspired by Blade Runner. Yes, yes, I agree, men have stupid ideas and who cares.
But! As you might know, Jake was not cast as the lead in the upcoming Denis Villeneuve film Blade Runner 2049 — despite speculation from the MSM, despite the fact that he has already worked with DV twice, and despite all logic and good sense. So perhaps the "Old dreams" shirt was a little bit of shade at DV, hmm? Probably! Otherwise, I don't know what Jake is doing back from Europe, as he's filming a movie in Romania in like two weeks. You could say "But Kaitlyn, why not a night out with Julianne Moore? Good for Jake, and good for the economy of New York City, which I'm sure appreciates free endorsements of expensive goods, photographed serendipitously in front of its famous thriving multicultural nightlife." 'WELCOME TO JACKSONVILLE' In a town called Jacksonville yesterday became the Urbasa mountain range, where the protagonists Eli and Charlie Sisters arrive in their attempt to catch the golden thief. On horseback and almost galloping, the riders Joaquin Phoenix and John C. Reilly repeated their scenes yesterday, without making use of doubles. According to Victoria de Lecea, both actors performed several riding lessons in Almería, under the supervision of Hernan Ortiz, the animal responsible during the shooting. Although initially planned to carry out a large stage construction in the Navarre area, it has finally been discarded by costs and this assembly will take place in Romania, the final destination of the project, before starting the postproduction phase. Y no, no está hecha ni en San Diego ni en el Panel de Marvel de la Comic-Con 2017. Se trata de una imagen colgada por un usuario de Twitter, que aparece en ella junto a Jack Gyllenhaal en el Valle del Tena, en Huesca.
La historia, según cuenta el usuario es que, paseando por la zona, se encontró con el actor de Prince of Persia y Zodiac y que este, alucinando ante lo que estaba viendo, se acercó a preguntarle por la camiseta de los Golden State Warriors que llevaba puesta.

A Twitter user becomes the internet celebrity of the day after meeting with Jake Gyllenhaal in the middle of the Tena Valley (Huesca).
With the permission of the tens of thousands of snapshots that circulate in the Comic-Con, a photograph is circulating on Twitter, surprising everyone and rivaling Halle Berry's drinking whiskey before dozens of comics fans.
And no, it's not made in San Diego or in the Marvel Panel of Comic-Con 2017. This is an image hung by a Twitter user, which appears in it alongside Jack Gyllenhaal in the Tena Valley, in Huesca.
The story, according to the user is that, walking around the area, he met the actor Prince of Persia and Zodiac and that, hallucinating to what he was seeing, approached to ask for the jersey of the Golden State Warriors was wearing.
Gyllenhaal is in the area filming Les frères sisters, the adaptation of the novel The Brothers Sisters by Patrick deWitt that Jacques Audiard is filming in the area and which also involves Joaquin Phoenix and Riz Ahmed.

ReplyDeleteThe Reports of This Break Up May Be....Subject to Change?
The last time Narnia left our "Rained Upon" man Austin Nichols, he was lying low as the dump-ee, contract ink faded and dried, and his ex-beard cavorting around with a "Logan Paul". It happened that fast.
Given the complexity of Austin's personal situation, setting up contracts with new beards is not that easy, hence the dizzying coupling and re-coupling of Austin with Sophia Bush. Although they had never "dated" before the tabloid headlines that placed them together in August/September 2009, a story was distributed in May 2010 that explained for all us clueless dunderheads that even though no one knew about it, Sophia and Austin had apparently been dating on and off since 2006.
...
Recently, we have seen this pattern repeated with Louis Tomlinson who is so gay for Harry Styles, that his team had to strap him him down with a baby stunt, an ex-baby momma, and a 0-100 American girlfriend. But, once the latter's contract ended in mid-January of this year, the boomerang, bad penny appendage of Eleanor Calder was speenway resurrected, nearly two years after the "breakup" of their previous four-year pairing. Whew, it's truly hard to keep up with these stunts sometimes.

Fast forward now to rumblings of new "bf" Logan Paul already "cheating" and the dancing around of are-they-even-an-official-couple or aren't-they, and within this short span of time, one can already see that "Chlogan" is a paper tugboat in the kiddie pool, capable of floating for a wee while or.....sinking.
Is it possible that "Chlogan" is providing Austin the needed time for him to jam "solo" in July? Only to eventually and no doubt "dramatically" disintegrate and send Chlo back to a conveniently awaiting Austin, oh say right around the start of the new school year or thereabouts? LOL!!
We won't be surprised if a contract renewal is in the works....
IN the meantime, Jake and Austin will continue their July hiatus sprinkled with a dose of mild bromance distraction. A live look at the Family Tile somewhere far, far away.....
