Lickshot, a new scrapbook by the photographer Ben Watts, arrived in bookstores today. Like Watts’s 2004 effort, “Big Up,” this is a relaxed photo diary in which movie stars, bikers and bikinied plain janes convey a curious in-your-face approachability. Watts makes use of handwritten annotations in Magic Marker and lots of two-dimensional ephemera — airline boarding passes, masking tape, thumbtacks, receipts and concert tickets — to lend lo-fi cred to his photo collages.
Inside, we find Heath Ledger skateboarding by the Los Angeles River. Andre 3000 is dressed, not uncharacteristically, like an elephant tamer. Schwarzenegger and Springsteen punch at the camera. There are gold teeth, and colossal rims, old graffitied limousines, pimptastic paraphernalia, tattoos and many motorcycles, but — as the photographer explains in the interview below — not a single female breast.

A: It was a very fluent thought that just sprung, leapt out. The image says “cover.” The book was still in the making [when Ledger died], so nothing had been chosen or decided or the pagination or anything had been formed. I knew Heath pretty well. I was in a close circle of friends with him. It’s a personal thing. … He was holding these two old muskets that his character had used in “Ned Kelly.” I just thought, with him pointing, it was a very confrontational, striking image. And I liked what he was wearing. I’m a big fan of sort of suits and tuxedo shirts in a kind of roughed-up way.

A: The one on the cover is him in character. The one of him on the back … I thought that was a good ending shot because it shows someone just skating off into infinity, you know. And that was on another shoot that we did, took a skateboard down in the L.A. River and they have those storm drains, and he went freeboarding off the back of a car. Actually, it’s pretty dangerous. But he didn’t seem to care.

Jake Gyllenhaal Saves Drivers From Parking Fines
Actor Jake Gyllenhaal recently committed a random of kindness by filling up several parking metres in Los Angeles after spotting an attentive traffic cop waiting to issue tickets.
The Brokeback Mountain star was returning to his vehicle after a day of shopping when he saw a law enforcement official standing near a number of parked cars.
A witness tells America's Star magazine, "Jake was shopping in Beverly Hills and noticed a few parking metres were about to expire. And he saw that the parking enforcers were standing right there, waiting to issue tickets when they ran out."
In a bid to save the drivers from a hefty fine, Gyllenhaal reached into his pocket for some spare change and used the coins to stave off the metres from expiration.

I don't see a family enjoying a holiday at all. I agree with those who have pointed out the obvious poorly done photoshopping job. Jake was probably already in Toronto with his family when these were released. The perspective of where people are located is way off to anyone who even has a cursory familiarity with photographic manipulation. I know people don't want to think that Jake is a part of this kind of scam operation, but it's sooooooo obvous. He's been doing this kind of stuff since Reeke. It is kind of comical though, since the pics are so poorly "digitized." Who knows maybe Jake is trying to let people know slowly that all of this is just made up.
Btw: Photoshopping is standard operation in the PR game. Nothing new.
