Simply Not Enough

when i found out that jamey rodemeyer killed himself - i felt deeply troubled. but when i found out that jamey rodemeyer had made an it gets better video only months before taking his own life - i felt indescribable despair. i also made an it gets better video last year - in the wake of the senseless and tragic gay teen suicides that were sweeping the nation at the time. but in light of jamey's death - it became clear to me in an instant that living a gay life without publicly acknowledging it - is simply not enough to make any significant contribution to the immense work that lies ahead on the road to complete equality. our society needs to recognize the unstoppable momentum toward unequivocal civil equality for every gay lesbian bisexual and transgendered citizen of this country. gay kids need to stop killing themselves because they are made to feel worthless by cruel and relentless bullying. parents need to teach their children principles of respect and acceptance. we are witnessing an enormous shift of collective consciousness throughout the world. we are at the precipice of great transformation within our culture and government. i believe in the power of intention to change the landscape of our society - and it is my intention to live an authentic life of compassion and integrity and action. jamey rodemeyer's life changed mine. and while his death only makes me wish that i had done this sooner - i am eternally grateful to him for being the catalyst for change within me. now i can only hope to serve as the same catalyst for even one other person in this world. that - i believe - is all that we can ask of ourselves and of each other.

  2. Whoever did went to a lot of trouble, I suspect they had a "deadline" and forgot about getting rid of that.

    What do you mean?

I think it means that someone is desperate to sell "Jake posing as Grace Jones photo is photoshopped".

  5. Wait a moment! do you want to say that someone has voluntarily made the fotoshop, so that Jake could say that it was not true?

    ReplyDelete
  6. I think that person who leaked Jake's Grace Jones photo has other (more incriminating?) Jake's photos so Jake used his lawyers to send him a message "don't publish them or it's going to cost you".
That's the only scenario I can think off that would explain Jake using lawyers for some silly photo.

Yes, he sounds like a wonderful person, hope his career won't suffer because of being openly gay.

  8. But do you think indeed that the photo is true? I have shown her/it to one friend of mine, enough experienced and he has told that it was a clear example of fotoshop even succeeded not so much good

That would also explain why Jake was perfectly fine with this fake photo, published before Grace Jones photo.

  10. 1:09 PM - I'm not photoshop expert, but Jake using lawyers and trying to force sites to take that photo down is very strange, something is fishy with that photo.

  12. Grace Jones photo has been published during, the promotion / gone out of Source Code, and I believe that Jake aimed a lot at this movie to relaunch his career, he didn't perhaps want other buzz gay that could damage his image of leadmen of sci-fi

For me the photo is clearly false, and the film was doing well and it had to still have released to a large extent of the world, perhaps he didn't want to risk, plus would have been an a little hazardous to threaten someone if the photo had been true or there was any of the others.

Hazardous? Jake has millions of dollars for lawyers, nothing hazardous about threatening someone to stop posting photos.

  29. Four months after his birth, we're finally getting a good glimpse at Natalie Portman's son, Aleph.

Mom and son were out and about in Hollywood on Thursday, and although we've seen Portman toting Aleph in cities like New York and Paris, we've never seen his face. Until now!

Aleph was born in June; dad is Portman's fiance, Benjamin Millepied, whom the actress met while filming "Black Swan."

But what is your opinion, what do you think happened, why was Jake so pissed off by that photo?

    ReplyDelete
  35. No, I am not contradicting myself, I say that if the photo had been true, Jake would have been afraid and he would have tried everything to withdraw it with the smaller noise possible, and this would have been enough easy with all of hisr money and knowledges, therefore if he has not done it it is because surely the photo is a forgery, and obviously it was not dafraid of the reaction or to be denied.

    1. It is possible that Jake can't contact the person who took that photo(s) - doesn't have enough info to find that person.
    2. It is possible that Jake was scared. If the photo is fake why would Jake use lawyers to threaten websites and ask them to take the photo down? He didn't do that with previous photo which is 100% fake (see 1:10 PM link).

  40. 2:40 PM - why are avoiding giving your opinion about what happened?

ow, I thought about having done this! however I repeat, the photo is obviously false, many experts are expressed on the subject, to the beginning the photo had the mark TMZ, when they have checked in their file they have discovered that there was not any photo and this already sets a big mortgage on the truthfulness of the matter, I think that after a few years has been clear for everybody that the history of Ted was a forgery, and that since the film was being all right, he didn't want to risk to revert, because he has understood how much the histories (true or false that is) put on internet, they can hurt indeed, therefore he has immediately thought of cut before it took the biblical dimensionos of the saga of TT. With This I don't Want to Say That jAKE is ETERO, Jake is gay with or without TT story or false photos

    ReplyDelete
  41. I thought about having done this!

    No, you haven't.

I'll repeat the question: if the photo is fake why would Jake use lawyers to threaten websites and ask them to take the photo down? He didn't do that with previous photo which is 100% fake (see 1:10 PM link). What is your explanation for that?

    ReplyDelete
  42. P.S. Jake knows how Internet works - he knew that he can't stop websites from publishing that photo and he knew that he'll attract more attention to the photo by trying to stop websites from publishing it.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I think that after a few years has been clear for everybody that the history of Ted was a forgery

Ted was right - Jake is gay.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I have done this instead, the first false photo, has gone out in the period of LAOD, where he was practically always naked on a bed, the false photo didn't harm to its image because it was very similar, to the thousand advertising images of the film, instead the second photo is a clear attempt to ridicule him, and to make insinuations on him, if it were true whoever would get angry, Jake has always shown to know how to be to the joke and to have sense of the humor, he has never reacted against all the things said on him, also the most absurd, that's why I believe that its reaction is genuine. Instead why you keep on ignoring all the experienced people consulted that they have said that the photo was false? PS once more I don't believe that Jake is etero

    ReplyDelete
  45. Sorry 3:46 PM, but if Grace Jones photo is fake then it proves that Jake's sense of humor is lacking because people with good sense of humor would just laugh it off.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Instead why you keep on ignoring all the experienced people consulted that they have said that the photo was false?

There is not proof that photo is false, no opinions from photo experts. Your and anyone else's opinion is just an opinion - not proof.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Sense of humor doesn't necessarily mean to accept everything without reacting, a thing it is to laugh with him another it is to laugh at him

Are you sure to want to cross this road? have a lot of opinions of experts come out in that days , do you believe that the site that the has received the LETTER FROM THE lawyers has not made a verification? or all the other GAY sites ? if the photo had been true they would have gained for months, /they have not insisted because theirs also knew that was false, and it didn't suit to them. 95. Just yesterday, a photo of Jake Gyllenhaal in his underwear circulated across the internet, as he was said to be paying homage to Grace Jones’ famous pose. Now, we’ve learned that the photo is a fake!

Some photo experts are weighing in on the controversial picture, saying that it’s not actually the actor!

His rep weighed in, saying, “It’s a fake.”

A photo expert said, “The skin tones are really good, but the shadows are completely off. Look how there aren’t any against the wall, or along the body anywhere. It’s a fake.”

  110. The Jake/Grace Jones photo reminds me of the leaked pics of Oscar De La Hoya. He was dressed in women's lingerie, and at the time he of course denied it was him, saying the pics were photoshopped. Even had "experts" who swore the pics were fake.

Well now four years later, and the so called expert was actually hired by De La Hoya's lawyers to say they were fake. Oscar admitted a few months ago that the pics were actually real.

At the time, Mr De La Hoya’s handlers brushed off the photos as bad Photoshop jobs and his accuser as a money-grubber.

But in a tell-all interview this week, the former welterweight champ revealed: ‘It was me.’

Known as 'The Golden Boy,' Mr De La Hoya became the subject of the photo scandal in 2007 when Ms Dravnel, who claimed he had cheated on his wife with her and posted the embarrassing images on the internet.

At the time, the De La Hoya camp claimed it wasn’t him in the photos and that the stripper was 'out for money.'

The Golden Boy’s legal team even brought in their own ‘photo expert,’ who said the photos were a computer-generated forgery.

His spokeswoman said of the photos: 'His head's too small and it doesn't even look like his body.'

Geez that last comment about the head & body sounds familiar. LOL!

Four years later, Oscar De La Hoya comes clean: It WAS me in the fishnet and high heels pictures

Ted doesn't even name the so called "expert". So who is this person, and how knowledgeable are they? Ted probably just consulted with the resident E! web design person who dabbles in Photoshop as a hobby on weekends.

  115. From Queerty around the time the pic appeared:

Jake’s a public figure, and we can talk about him if we want to. We can even speculate about what he looks like in his underwear. We can’t — and won’t — claim that this picture of him is definitely authentic, since we just don’t know. (A lot of people seem to claim that it isn’t, but internet-photoshop-experts are about as reliable as internet-lawyers.)

  128. This is interesting too:

After De La Hoya launched a campaign to discredit the wild images, Milana Dravnel filed a federal lawsuit against him, claiming that his handlers duped her into agreeing that the photos were manipulated.

They settled the lawsuit out of court, and both sides clammed up, citing a confidentiality agreement.

But courthouse sources confirmed Wednesday that De La Hoya paid $20 million to buy her silence. The deal also called for her to give back the heels, lingerie and fishnets that she kept after their kinky photo session.

No I am embarrassed only for your slowness. Did you know that the Catholic Church has put us around 400 years to admit that Galileo was right and that it was the Earth that turned around the sun? I hope that you put some less time and that fanaticism doesn't take the upper hand.

I suspect Jake's lawyers issued the letter w/o consulting Jake. The letter was poorly written and unprofessional, it was from his lawyers office but most likely an intern did it that's why there was no follow-up.

The picture is silly and deserved to be ignored which I think he did, it was his legal dept that jumped the gun

  167. The picture itself is not objectionable, it's the fact that it's so obviously photoshopped. It would be a great pic if it were actually Jake's body. He's got a nice one, long arms and legs and torso. The guy in this pic looks more short and compact, and all the other elements look stilted and unnatural. This pic is so obviously a photoshop deal, that's what people are saying. This is so laughable, it's a common yoga pose that Grace Jones did not invent. lol Men have been doing yoga for centuries. That some would build up so much controversy about it says more about their own predjudices about gay people than those you accuse of being homophobes.

Just another attempt to goad Jake out of the closet, and cutting off anyone who would disagree by calling them homophobes to shut them up.

I don't believe Jake's lawyers would have gotten involved in something so minor, there are pics like this all over the internet, just another day at the shop if you ask me. (Although we haven't seen the Austin and the legs pic in quite some time either, come to think of it.) I'm sure he and his people ignored it, as with all the others.

I think some were taking 'journalistic license' and I use that term very loosely.

^ Why should there be a shadow on the wall? If no flash was used, there would be no shadow. Also, the room appears to have recessed lights (you can see one near the door). These types of lights would not cast a shadow on the wall.
