Why doesn't he work more? Is it laziness?
He is too lazy or thinks that doing indie movies or TV or something else would spoil his "movie star" image.

There is nothing to suggest that Jake has a kid or some kind of his own family. For example - Jake was out every weekend during Source Code filming and he was out with friends a lot after Source Code filming.
Please. You call that proof? You have no idea what Jake does every weekend. Just because he may be seen for a hour or two somewhere doesn't mean he's not a Dad. Parents do go out. And, there's plenty of evidence that Jake is a Daddy. Including the Hollywood life account that indicated he arrived early at the Palm Springs Fest. afterparty and left early. Not really the behavior of a bachelor lookin' for his next conquest. In fact, Jake's behavior since late 2007 when he went into the closet speaks volumes. Just like his career took a U turn so did his personal, closeted life. Definitely, not a coincidence.

If you look closely at Jake's prior dining habits (pre-October, 2007) and now, he hardly eats out at all. Jake does not work long hours. He's an actor. Has months and months off at any given time. The perfect job for raising a family, actually. I would love to have that kind of quality time with my children. I'm sure others would too. Jake probably spends more time with his children than 90% of working adults who are away from home as much as 12 hours a day, commuting and working at a 5-6 day a week career.

Yes I am. I want Jake to stop making a fool of himself and have a good career. Personally I think Jake is the kind of person who feels everything, and I think the bearding is inhibiting him and bothers him on some level in a way it doesn't other stars. I think that inhibition and lack of confidence shows in his interviews, his photo opps, and who knows, maybe even when it comes to film casting. Last week I posted an article about an acting teacher who talked about gay actors abilities being inhibited by the closet. I believe that about Jake.

AfterElton: Jane, this week The Daily Beast ran an article talking about gay actors not getting cast in straight parts, and I’m just wondering what your experience in Hollywood tells you about where we’re at with gay actors. I mean, there are a lot of gay actors getting work right now but what about the leading roles? When do you think we’ll see more of that?
Jane Lynch: I don’t know when or if that will ever happen. I think because since most of the world is straight — and maybe we'll get to a place where this will happen — most of the world is straight and we want the audience to project their hopes and dreams for love and romance onto those actors. And if it’s not in some way possible, maybe never probably, in their mind that it could never happen, then they're not going to do it. You know, most people are straight, and I think that’s probably why.
AE: So you think audience acceptance is keeping networks and casting directors from making…
JL: Yes. This is a business of projection and desiring people from afar. And watching people go through trials and tribulations, so there has got to be some truth to it, in terms of, "I could see myself with that person." Because the leading man and lady are the person we want them to fall in love with, and most of the audience is straight. So for right now, we can only use straight actors.
Look, I’ve never -- as far as I know, it’s been behind my back if it has — I’ve never been turned down for a role because I’m gay. I’m a character actor, and that’s probably why. I don’t find Hollywood, in my own experience, to be homophobic. Have I ever been turned down? I don’t know because you never know when you don’t get something or why you didn’t get it. But I do think the straight folks will continue to play the straight roles.
AE: I just want to follow up because I want to make sure I don’t misquote you and that you understood the question.

It's not too late at all for her to stop all that; Jodie stopped immediately after the Julian Sands fiasco. Since, no dates, no questions answered on her private life, always solo and breezing through: that's how she can maintain control and dignity.

We "knew" by observation and intuition about those funny men. Add Rip Taylor into the mix. Those guys were never fully "out" since there was no such thing in those days, although Paul Lynde had wonderful lines on Hollywood Squares that all but spelled it out. ("Why do motorcycle men wear leather? Because chiffon wrinkles!) People laughed and accepted him as long as he was FUNNY. They were gay minstrels.

I don't think people speculated about any macho leading man back then except for, perhaps a small minority of gay men who understood that someone COULD be masculine and gay. The minority was HIDDEN. Gay was "underground." It was a very closed society. People were not nearly as sophisticated as today. Being gay was the WORST possible thing one could be back then. It was a horrible insult to even insinuate it about someone.
