One Fabulous Fagola Run-in Blind Vice!
It was so delicious. Better than Angie getting her gal-flirt on at the Globes. Far better than whatever Mickey Rourke did with all those easy chicks at the after-parties. Call it showdown of the down-low dudes!
(You do know what down-low means, right? Uh, it's when superficially macho guys, often in the black and Latino cultures, but not always, like to screw with guys on the side while they've got the babes out in front.)
So here we go: Like the good little showman he is, Toothy Tile went to the Golden Globes this past weekend. And where was a camera when you needed one 'cause boyfriend ran into Lloyd Boy-Toyed, one of our other closeted Hollywood actors, just not as famous.
Jeez, wanna hear what happened?
They met. For the first time, I do not know, but I'm pretty sure it was. And even though both stars live to get their boy-flirt on, big-time, these guys are nearly a generation apart, so I highly doubt they mingle at the same gay gatherings.
But what's really interesting is how very sad Lloyd acted with Toothy, almost as if he saw before him the chance he'll never have: the possibility to come out of the closet and still have a career. Boy-Toyed never will out himself (although others sure as hell keep trying), not just because of his age, but because of his family, trust me on that one. But Toothy? Everybody knows he could still have it both ways; he's sure young enough. So what did Lloyd and Tooth discuss?

Not there, they didn't, although I do believe digital info was exchanged, a dynamic that never would have gone down had T.T.'s standard chick date been around, which she wasn't, at least not then. Where could she have been? Stitching up Kate Beckinsale's dress in the ladies room?
Oh, and Lloyd. You might as well throw that number away. Toothy so is not calling. Sorry. (He's taken, a few times over.)

I wonder if POP is really going to do that well. Signing the actors up for sequels is standard for Disney and other studios. But, if Disney is already trying to push a movie as a big summer blockbuster on their approved media outlets 2yrs before they release it makes me think that maybe they are trying to create a fire where there's nothing interesting about their movie. Read the other day that Spiderman 4 is supposed to come out summer 2010. If it comes out same time as POP, POP will be dead in the water.

I had wondered in Interview magazine dialogue with Fincher when Jake said he felt himself more matured than some other actors he was speaking of Heath's shenanigans.

The problem is that we as the consumers, are pressuring actors to use heroin and other drugs so that they perform on screen in a particular way that pleases us.
It's the same issue as heroin chic in the modeling industry. You can't be a model unless you shoot up. Because if you don't shoot up, you won't "look like a model."
You can't be an actor unless you shoot up, because otherwise somebody else will, and will look more strung out, which is what the audience wants for some sick reason, and he will take your job.

This shows to me that Heath didn't seem to have any real friends in the industry. The really close friends he had were from childhood and most of them, if not all of them, lived in Australia. He used to pay their flights to the US, so they could spend time with him.

I met him [Heath] a SAG Q & A for BBM. He was there with Michelle. Heath had cancelled the week before at a screening of BBM at the TV Academy in NH the audience of 900 or so "industry" ie card carrying SAG, WGA were not pleased when the emcee stepped out and said " Heath & Michelle have had to cancel tonite as their newborn is ill, I hope you understand." Well they didn't. The lot I sat in front of went from praising Heath as a "genius, brilliant actor" to " he's a junkie who stood us up." "He was out partying in SM last nite." in a nano second they began to hiss. Welcome to Phoneywood.
Focus rescheduled at the Design Center a week or so later. It was a much smaller house. Heath could not have been more gracious. He literally crawled on his hands and knees around the stage signing anything and everything we thru at him. Michelle was very quiet almost withdrawn. I held out my hand and congratulated him on his nomination. He met my gaze with those brown ball bearing eyes , smiled a half Ennis smile and said . "Thanks mate."
I believe the Jake/Heath encounter for several reasons:
Heath, the summer of 2007, was very vulnerable and sadly, a mess. Though he had begun filming TDK, he and Michelle had broken up and he wasn't seeing Matilda as often. He needed comfort and affection no matter how casual (remember all those gals he hooked up with following the breakup with Michelle?). I do think Jake admired him greatly and had a big crush on him. Heath knew that and rather than resist and/or run away from that (as he had previously--I don't think there was any affair prior to this), he succumbed--because he needed the "love," the affection, the comfort and contact.
I believe this story but I don't believe ANYTHING happened prior to that summer/period.

Interesting tidbits from summer/fall 2007. When Jake (at the Cannes FF) and Heath (at the Venice FF) were asked what their favourite film was this year, both guys said the same movie. I don't remember the title, but it's this British musical. Does anyone know?
Heath's friend Michael Stipe took pictures of Heath and Jake with those black glasses just days apart. And the black pullover Jake wore on the cover of Interview is most likely Heath's, he wore the pullover regularly at public appearances and candids ever since 2005. Everything may be a coincidence though.

I went and saw Maggie and Peter in Uncle Vanya last night. Dennis O'Hare was really good, but overall I thought the production and acting was okay, but nothing great. It could be that I saw it too early, it's just been playing since the weekend, and it could still be a work in progess. While it was kind of fun to be in such a tiny theater and be so close to the action (the theater seats only about 180 and has 6 rows on 3 sides of the stage) the stage design was a big problem. Tt had a diagonal row of beams across the stage, meant to represent a divider between inside and outside the house, but even in a tiny theater it meant that half the time I couldn't see people because they were blocked by the beam. I really think directors and reviewers should sit in the worst seats in a theater to see how the staging works.
Two tidbits. One, Naomi was in the audience. She didn't appear to be with anyone, and remained seated while everyone else was leaving the theater (presumably waiting for Maggie and Peter).
Two, at one point my gf turned to me and whispered that she can't believe Peter is straight, which made me laugh. Although I have to say I've never thought he was completely straight. Heck, if that DL thread being discussed on wft2 has any truth to it (and no way of knowing, consider the source), maybe no one in the family is. completely straight.

I remember the night I got home a year ago and had turned on the small TV in my bedroom. I sensed they were talking about something very serious and I stepped back into my room. I saw pictures of Heath on the screen and then I saw the scroll running along the bottom. And I was alone in my apartment, but I remember groaning aloud "Oh nooooooo.." and can still feel my shoulders just sag. It was absolutely crushing. I was stunned.
