Dear Ted:
Oh, please! You must start using warning signs when you conjure up visual images such as this one: "Jake Gyllenhaal used to strut and stretch right next to Patrick Dempsey, me and Tobey Maguire, all at the same pumping station." What are you trying to do, give your readers heart palpitations or something similar a little lower down? Made my day!

Dear Gym Bunnies:
No prob, and feel free to write up some fan fiction of the four of us fellas, makes great reading material (and more).

  1. One Girlie, Gonzo Blind Vice

As I’m off to get hitched, thought it would be terribly appropriate to give you a little salacious het-on-het action. I mean, why not, more straights than fruits get married, right? Oh, but could that just be because it’s only legal for you guys? Never mind. This isn’t a political soap bitch; it’s a Blind Vice, and as intent as I was to bring on the hetero horniness, Vadge Fly-Trap interfered. Or at least her gal-hungry paws did.

Vadge, really, is just as ballsy as most of the guys she’s simply clobbered in the Biz. More so, I’d say. She’s sorta like that Spitzer dude in fact—so obviously gunnin’ for the girls, while (stupidly) thinking nobody’ll notice. Hardly!

While Ms. VFT rakes in the major dough for her TV and movie appearances, much of the world may indeed have fallen in love with her, but I’m tellin’ ya, those worshippers certainly don’t include some rich-ass Bev Hills babes.

“She was sitting next to me, and her hand kept brushing up against my leg!” revealed one 30ish, single, Chanel-suited gal (who doesn’t like gals, at least, not in that way), regarding a luncheon party she attended with Ms. Fly-Trap. “She was actually squeezing my thigh at one point,” continued the guy-lovin’ lady, “and I, very directly, just had to ask her to stop it.”

How very polite. What’s the matter with a good ol’ bitch-slap to the overly painted puss, huh? I mean, if a guy had done that to some broad who didn’t want it, it’s safe to assume his pucker would be sucker-punched, essentially.

Oh, completely forgot. People dare not cross Vadge Fly-Trap, that’s why. She is, in T-town, what Tom Cruise used to be: megapowered and poop-proof. But not for very much longer.

And it ain't: Paris Hilton, Scarlett Johansson, Martha Stewart

  2. Prince of Persia: Sands of Time - Jake's co-star?

Fresh from treading the red carpet at the premiere of 10,000 BC in March, it is continuing to be a busy schedule for Reece Ritchie as this week he received a double boost. For the Oulton Broad 21-year-old was flying to Alicante this week after he was picked to star with Colin Farrell for the film Triage.

The trip followed hard on the heels of being chosen for his latest assignment starring alongside Jake Gyllenhaal for the first-part of an expected trilogy in the film based on the video game Prince of Persia: Sands of Time.

The Disney film, which is being directed by Mike Newell (Harry Potter and Donnie Brasco) and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, is due for release in August 2009. It follows the Playstation computer game classic about a prince who teams up with a rival princess to stop an angry ruler from unleashing a sandstorm that could destroy the world.

After attending auditions in London in January, Reece received the call that he'd got the part at the weekend and this means that he will be off to Morocco for filming of the video game adaptation in June.

With the project also set to be filmed at the UK Pinewood Shepperton studios, Gyllenhaal, who has appeared in The Day After Tomorrow and Brokeback Mountain, plays the prince with Ritchie being his accomplice and best friend. The part of Princess Farah has yet to be announced.

  3. McMurtry won a Pulitzer Prize for ’’Lonesome Dove,’’ one of his 40-plus books. Many of them have become films ... He co-wrote the Oscar-winning screenplay to ``Brokeback Mountain.’’ A video tribute screened during the Los Angeles Public Library’s literary awards dinner on Wednesday corralled the likes of Jake Gyllenhaal, Diane Lane and Jeff Bridges to laud McMurtry as a creative force, and a teller of truths as well as tales.

In this case Jake didn't really have a choice - Naomi would have kick his ass if he tried to avoid it!

"11. Scripter Award Gala (Feb 2008)

  5. Gay actors kept in closet by media, says Alan Cumming

Alan Cumming believes the media's anachronistic views of homosexuality mean many gay actors are reluctant to admit their sexuality. The X-Men 2 star has argued that a number of actors in Hollywood were unlikely to reveal their homosexuality due to the media's treatment of the issue.

Talking to the BBC, the 43-year-old said: "I don't think the people that go see films care that much - the media make it more of a deal and it's made into controversy."

He added: "There is a lot of homophobia in the world - but in Hollywood definitely." Cumming's comments followed a complaint from Stephen Fry that he had been pigeonholed by casting directors since coming out. And Torchwood star John Barrowman has said it is "just sad" that some actors lie about their sexuality so as to protect their chances of securing work.

But Cumming, speaking ahead of the launch of new TV series Tin Man, a revamp of The Wizard of Oz, denied that pigeonholing was a fact of life for gay actors. "Some of them do, but lots of straight actors get pigeonholed in various roles," he said. "I'm quite outspoken in the media about what I perceive as a civil-rights struggle that gay people in America are still going through. "But I don't think that I only play gay characters, or I wouldn't be as convincing if I had a wife or a girlfriend in a movie."

Cumming's remarks are at odds with those of fellow actor Rupert Everett who claimed last year that Hollywood was "like al-Qaida". "After a certain age you can be gay. Before that it's not only not good, it's impossible," he told the Times newspaper. "Hollywood is a place that pretends it's very liberal but it's not remotely."

Everett had said in his autobiography Red Carpets and Other Banana Skins that he had been told by the head of MGM studios that he was turned down to play the romantic lead for Sharon Stone in a film because "to all intents and purposes a homosexual was a pervert in the eyes of America and the world would never accept me in the role and therefore MGM would never hire me".

You know that at some point Jake was sitting around with his management/pr team, strategizing on how to become an A-list box office star. "Okay, first, we get those pesky gay rumors under control. Plan Reese is going awesome! Next, I do a "message" comedy to show more of my "range." Nailed is going awesome! One is the mention of this guy being the Prince's 'accomplice and best friend'.
Unless the 2007 revision has changed things dramatically.
Second is the mention of 'Farah', instead of Tamina. We know her name wasn't changed in the Jan 2007 revision.

Oh yeah, I noticed another 2 things -
The mention of simply 'Prince' instead of 'Dastan' or 'Prince Dastan'.
And next, the confirmation of JG in the title role. We know he's in negotiations (or that could be just a silly grippy rumor gone wild, who knows?), we know for certain he wasn't confirmed.
And anyway, no one in his right mind would actually first accurately confirm/announce the most awaited role (and lead, titular role at that) of the century as a mere aside to a sidekick role."

We are talking about Hollywood A-list, not our favorite actors list:

    Wikipedia:
The A-list is a term that alludes to major movie stars, and/or the most bankable in the Hollywood movie industry.
The list was created by veteran entertainment journalist James Ulmer, who developed a 100-point method to quantify a star's value to a film production, in terms of getting a movie financed and the cameras rolling. The Ulmer Scale also takes into account an actor's history (box office successes vs. failures), versatility, professional demeanor, and ability and willingness to travel and promote movies.

Tom Hanks and Tom Cruise topped the latest ranking in 2006. Ulmer's latest Top Ten List, from 2006, also includes:
    Jim Carrey
    George Clooney
    Russell Crowe
    Johnny Depp
    Nicole Kidman
    Jude Law
    Brad Pitt
    Julia Roberts

  38. Comedian Demetri Martin in talks to play gay lead in Ang Lee's "Taking Woodstock"

Last week, I blogged about Taking Woodstock, the upcoming biopic of Elliot Tiber, the gay man who was instrumental in bringing the music festival to fruition. Well, it seems that Academy Award-winning Brokeback Mountain director Ang Lee has chosen a leading man, and in a surprising decision, it's stand up comedian (and Beatles-tressed) Demetri Martin. (Martin is currently in negotiations, so nothing's signed yet.)

Demetri is best known for his "Trendspotting" bits on The Daily Show, and I've had the hots for him I've been a fan of his deadpan style for a while. I'd be curious to learn what kind of casting process came up with his name, though. He certainly isn't the first one that springs to mind when you think of "gay hippie" ... although he certainly has the hair for it.

After the break, you can see one of my favorite Demetri bits, "Material Enhancers".

  41. I think it's one of those sometimes things are not what they seem cases.

Oh I see, you're one of those fans who believe that Jake and Heath had something special going on?

Right, they secretly fell in love with each other, they realized that the feelings Ennis and Jack had for each other are the exact same feelings they developed for each other. Heath dumped Michelle and hooked up with an even more oblivious Gemma. Jake broke up with Austin, if they ever were together that is, and found a good beard in Reese. Though Jake and Heath couldn't see each other that often, they phoned every day and when they finally saw each other it was like Ennis and Jack being together.
Now, how can you blame Jake not paying tribute? He is simply too crushed his beloved Heath died.

Is that what you think went on?

I think the truth is they were friends or rather acquaintances. They probably kept in touch and saw each other sporadically.
    That's it!

Since Jake doesn't have to pay tribute, he didn't do it.
And his and Reese infamous shopping tour doesn't bother him, cause live goes on.
I don't say he wasn't untouched by what happened to Heath, he most definitely was sad about it, but not totally out of his mind like some fans want to think.

I think my scenario is much more likely than the first, don't you think?

  69. Anyone else remembers On The Road movie and Jake playing Sal rumors?

Ask the AfterElton Flying Monkey! (April 28, 2008)

Q: I just re-read Jack Kerouac's On The Road. What's the deal with Kerouac (Sal Paradise) and Neal Cassady (Dean Moriarty)? I've heard rumors, and can read stuff online, but was there something more there, or was it just a 1940's bromance? — Jesse, New Haven, CT

A: Having never actually read On the Road, the Flying Monkey feels a little bit like Woody Allen in Zelig (1983) (whose never having read Moby Dick leads to hilarious consequences).

But speaking of Zelig, Neal Cassady (the inspiration for On the Road’s Dean Moriarty) lived a life not unlike Woody Allen’s movie character, helping to inspire On the Road (and many other Kerouac works), driving the bus immortalized in Tom Wolfe’s The Electric Cool-Aid Acid Test, appearing in a book by Hunter S. Thompson, and even being the subject of a Grateful Dead song (“The Other One”).

Early drafts of On the Road had Dean Moriarty experimenting sexually with men, and both Kerouac and Cassady did, in fact, have real-life same-sex sexual relationships (most notably with Howl poet and fellow beatnik Allen Ginsberg). But Cassady was bisexual, not gay, and Kerouac was deeply tormented by whatever gay feelings he had.

Kerouac was probably in love with Cassady, at least on some level. But did they ever pull a Brokeback pup-tent experience? Alas, I can’t give you a more definitive answer than all the rumors you’ve read online.

"I snagged this off Kennethinthe212. It's the love scene between Trevor Wright and Brad Rowe in "Shelter." For a pair of straight guys, I'd have to say they do pretty well here. Usually the whole thing fails because straight guys are afraid to kiss each other - they always end up sort of mashing their faces against each other. Gay men know the art of kissing. But these guys do OK, I'd give them a B-minus for authenticity in this scene but a soilid A for their overall performances in this fine film.

  114. Maggie Gyllenhaal Covers May 2008 Interview

Sexy and edgy Maggie Gyllenhaal appears on the cover of the most recent issue of Interview. Photographed by Bryan Adams and in conversation with Tim Blanks, Miss Maggie talks about “playing coy, playing house, playing druggy ex-cons, playing movie star, and never playing it safe.”

    On playing Rachel Dawes:
She’s [not] much of a girl in peril. She’s had a complicated set of circumstances to work herself through… Aaron Eckhart used to joke that any time I was supposed to be in peril, I had a real problem with it. I was trying to figure out a way that it wasn’t exactly what was happening.

On whether taking a role in The Dark Knight is an “investment in mainstream Hollywood”:
When I decided to do the movie, it wasn’t… Now I really feel I want to make movies that people see. I want to play strong, beautiful, powerful, elegant women. Now I really feel like there is something about mainstream Hollywood that I absolutely embrace. I’ve shed that adolescent part of myself that wasn’t interested in it before.

    On turning 30:
I see women 35, 36, a little older than me…and they have something that I admire and aspire to, so I’m looking forward to the rest of the decade. I’m actually just 30 and a half now, so I don’t have a whole lot of hindsight on this yet.

On her role as drug addict Sherry Swanson:
What I found with Sherry was that she was in such a rough place that she didn’t have the luxury to feel any kind of self-pity or to fall apart at all, or she would not have been able to survive… I understood that all the things that happened in the movie were painful for her, but I didn’t really let that into the work. Then all the terrible things I’ve had to go through surfaced after we’d finished filming… I don’t think I could play that part now. I don’t know that I could be okay with the things I had to be okay with in order to play her.

On whether her “screwball glamour” a la Jean Arthur/Carole Lombard/Claudette Colbert was appropriate for The Dark Knight:
It’s a pretty dark movie. But sometimes qualities come out despite what an actor is in.

Maggie is adorable, and I agree with Blanks’ assessment of her as “a broad-in-waiting, the kinda-wanna-sorta brunette wo cracked wise through Hollywood’s Golden Age.” She’s just one of the many reasons that I can’t wait to see The Dark Knight. I think she’ll be a much more vibrant Rachel Dawes than Katie Holmes. Meanwhile, peep the rest of the Interview scans. You won’t be sorry!

  116. Hollywood's top stars face devaluing of A-list currency

Anyone glancing at 2007 boxoffice numbers might have noticed a striking absence of star power. Only four of the top 25 domestic grossers were driven primarily by movie stars -- the lowest number in history. The data captures what is becoming a seismic and industry-reshaping phenomenon: A-list talent is having trouble packing multiplexes based on star wattage alone.

With the exception of Will Smith -- sixth on the 2007 list with "I Am Legend" -- it's increasingly clear that other elements, from established franchises to marketable concepts to such brand-name creators as Tyler Perry and Judd Apatow, either give actors a necessary boost or entirely replace them as the draw for moviegoers.

"There are not a lot of movie stars right now," says Avi Lerner, who has produced movies with Bruce Willis and Robert De Niro. "The market has become more selective." The decline of star power comes as consumers are viewing film actors differently. Such voyeuristic media outlets as "Access Hollywood" and TMZ.com have demystified celebrities even as they feed unprecedented interest. Why turn out for a favorite star's movie if you can watch him walk his dog on TV and the Internet? "Mystique is what draws people to the movies," PMK publicist Catherine Olim says. "People want to go to the movies to get lost in a performance. And it's hard to do that with so much interference."

For the most part, stars and their reps have warded off financial adjustments that should follow from these boxoffice shifts. But there's growing sentiment -- familiar to producers but increasingly common, if largely unspoken, among agents -- that star salaries are out of proportion with star influence. Rollbacks, or at least a rethink, could be coming, a trend already manifest in some new deals and even in the recent wave of agency defections. The modern notion of star power -- the idea, which took hold about 30 years ago, that stars matter above all else to a movie's success -- placed tremendous power in the hands of talent and their agencies, which caused salaries to go up, which in turn increased actors' leverage even further.

But there's a sense now -- evident in multiple boxoffice metrics and comments uttered privately by the dozens of agents, managers and producers interviewed for this report -- that the interplay among consumers, celebrities and entertainment dollars is changing. The new dynamics are a challenge the next generation of up-and-comers -- Shia LaBeouf, Seth Rogen, Emile Hirsch and Katherine Heigl often are cited -- could face.

"As audiences get younger, they don't care about movie stars in the same way," Sony Screen Gems president Clint Culpepper says. "The idea of seeing a beautiful movie star on the big screen just isn't the same to them."

On the surface, movie stars are bigger than ever. They're ubiquitous on magazine covers and late-night TV. Their every move is dissected on blogs and fan sites. But the boxoffice reports tell a different story.

Such comedic actors as Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jim Carrey and Will Ferrell have in the past year or so hit longtime or even career lows. Brad Pitt has slid from a career high of $185 million for "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" to a paltry $4 million for "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford," low even by specialty standards. Leonardo DiCaprio's stock showed signs of waning with 2006's "Blood Diamond" ($57 million), a fact that might have partly prompted the major studios to pass on his buzz project "Low Dweller" several months ago. And it's not just leading men. Julia Roberts had three $125 million movies from 1997-2001; she hasn't broken $70 million since.

When star power does still exist, it seems to be narrowing. At the height of stars' drawing potential in the 1990s, you could drop such then-A-listers as Kevin Costner or Arnold Schwarzenegger into pretty much any movie and expect to gross $100 million stateside. (How else to explain "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" or "Kindergarten Cop"?)Today's top-paid stars, on the other hand, need to be paired much more carefully with material to score a runaway hit.

Johnny Depp might largely be responsible for the $300 million-$400 million domestic grosses of his "Pirates" movies, but put him in "Sweeney Todd" or "From Hell" and those films struggle to reach $50 million.

Matt Damon has been a key part of two of the most lucrative contemporary franchises ("Ocean's" and "Bourne"), but his boxoffice mojo has stalled in other turns ("The Good Shepherd": $51 million domestic). Adam Sandler fails to open any movie that isn't one of his trademark comedies. And George Clooney might be capable of helping drive ensemble franchises like "Ocean's," but put him in a period screwball sports comedy and you have the dud that is "Leatherheads."

Perhaps the star who best epitomizes the new era is that ultimate A-lister, Tom Hanks. From 1998-2002, Hanks had a whopping six movies, from war pictures to romantic comedies, that earned between $115 million and $215 million domestically. Outside of a built-in brand like "The Da Vinci Code," he hasn't had a movie in that range since.

Many of these shifts stem from the way most studio movies are now made. While a number of studios -- Warner Bros., and to some extent, Paramount -- still seek to build projects around stars, others, such as Fox and Disney, are relying much more on concepts. When newly minted MGM executive Mary Parent addressed a group of agents recently, she said the studio was looking for title-driven projects, not star-driven ones. "What more and more studios are saying is, 'Let's find a concept we can market to all four quadrants, and once we have that, then we'll get the best person who can fit that concept,' " one agent says.

Meanwhile, stars are seeing their stock devalued by the rise of Wall Street slate financing because source material often is regarded as a more reliable predictor of boxoffice than a star, which explains the glut of money now spent on everything from "He-Man" to "American Girl." And even as international boxoffice becomes more crucial, it's having a peculiar effect on star power because it's becoming harder to argue that a particular A-lister will appeal so broadly. Why spend so much on talent when it's possible that Poland or Korea audiences won't know the difference anyway?

Despite these factors, a central paradox remains: the payday. Such stars as Sandler and Stiller still regularly land $20 million fees with significant backend points -- full freight, in industry parlance. But there are signs that loads are lightening. For stars in less-proven films than, say, "Bourne" (for which Damon earns $20 million-$25 million plus backend), the good times might be slowing down, especially as rising marketing and production costs continue to eat up budgets. "The $20 million against $20 million deal is basically dead," one agent says. There's always a new star nabbing an eye-popping amount, like what insiders say is Jason Statham's $5 million for "Crank 2" or an established star like Meryl Streep pulling in $1 million for a week's work on "Rendition." But new ways of calculating paydays by tying them to boxoffice essentially would amount to a rollback.

The model of the future could be Carrey's deal for "Yes Man," in which he accepted no upfront money and will earn a higher percentage of the film's revenue. In the future, stars might not be paid simply for being stars; they'll be paid for delivering results. Then again, the stars themselves are a big reason for these changes. In the past, A-listers, by design or by circumstance, hewed closely to the commercial fare that made them famous, but today's stars are more adventurous.

The growing prominence of awards season combined with the increased specialization of Oscar films has led many stars -- Clooney, Pitt and Angelina Jolie are just a few -- to take on more challenging and esoteric roles. That might be great for their art, but commercially, the effects are more complicated. "Consumers are savvy, and whenever a trailer comes out with a Clooney or Pitt movie, they're very wary, scrutinizing it for whether it's the George and Brad they love or something else entirely," one agent says.

With another summer of concept-driven movies looming, the proportion of top boxoffice grossers driven by nonstar factors could increase. Smith again could prove his drawing power when the superhero drama "Hancock" opens in July. But most of the other top earners in 2008 will come from other quarters, as winter winners like "Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who!" likely will be joined by such nonstar-driven hopefuls as "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian," "Speed Racer" and "The Dark Knight." And consider the star vehicle "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," which is partly driven by the presence of Harrison Ford. That it continues a story line hatched almost 30 years ago and features a star born twice as far back tells you all you need to know about the modern relevance of star power.

The state of star power is also evident on the Web. The data in the charts below was compiled by Nielsen BuzzMetrics, which tracks the amount of buzz in the blogosphere. Nielsen is the parent company of The Hollywood Reporter. The Judd Apatow film "Knocked Up," released June 2007, was more buzzed about on blogs than A-list stars like Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio, and even the movie's star, Katherine Heigl. Will Smith was more buzzed about than his own blockbuster film "I Am Legend" when it was released in December 2007.

  117. ^^^ Hollywood Reporter article comment:

    Fascinating stuff!

Perfect example - saw Iron Man today and loved it with the capacity audience, most of whom have never really heard of Downey, and they probably never came for Paltrow, yet it will achieve major bo due to the fresh, savvy approach, not big names.

Saw a trailer for Valkyrie now apparently only releasing 2009, with former mr-big himself - it looks real bad, and bad news for UA - and Paula W shouldn't hitch her star to this former star. Trailer for Raiders was ho-hum, seen-it-all before stuff with more than a hint of desperation. So, let's hear it for plot-driven movies, with more studio bucks spent on content than over-rated risks.

  118. 9:02, I totally agree. Heath and Jake casting was perfect and iconic.

I think Montgomery Clift would have made a great Jack - I see that sensitivity and a sort of impatience in his performances, and a certain look in the eyes. I remember watching old movies with my mom, he was one of her favorite actors. James Dean would have been great too, with his rebellious and not-caring-what- anybody-thinks attitude. As far as Ennis, Paul Newman, after what I saw in the screen test, is Ennis. It's like he pulls into himself and hides, when he says "Can't Here", reminding me of Heath's Ennis, after James Dean unabashedly says "Kiss Me", much like Jack. So for Jack, and actor who is a cross between Montgomery Clift and James Dean, which is Jake, and a Paul Newman to play Ennis, which is Heath. High praise, I think. :)

Right after her much deserved Academy Award for Best Actress in 'Walk the Line' fabulous actress Reese Witherspoon was hit with a barrage of reports from two separate weekly magazines that her marriage was in trouble.

    Reese Furious Over Reports

    Reportedly she was furious.

Life & Style Magazine, which broke the report on its cover, cites an insider that claims “Reese blew a gasket when she read about her marriage."

“She told her publicists, ‘This is completely overshadowing my win! We need to do something. I’m not going to turn into one of those actresses where it’s all about my personal life. I’m the highest-paid actress in history, and this crap isn’t going to bring me down!’”

    Is it working?

Not according to Life & Style. They will report in Friday's edition that Ryan reluctant to pretend things are OK? An insider says it’s because he’s fed up with Reese’s relentless ambition.

“He told Reese that unless she tries to actually be the sweet person she pretends to be - rather than the domineering woman she really is – he’s going to walk,” says the insider.

    ***

The Enquirer had earlier reported the troubles as well, but detailed that Reese was ready to put her high-priced career on hold and have another baby if that's what it took to keep the pair together.

Reps have denied any marriage trouble.

All those Reeke PR and photo opportunities didn't make me believe in Reeke.
Why would Jake's weekend in LA make any difference?
Why do you think it’s even worth mentioning?

  162. Maybe they're just tired of people (aka Ted and his believers) thinking they're faking it and now try harder to avoid being photographed together? Could be!

God, I hope you are a teenager!

    Why?

  164. Because an adult shouldn't be so naive and uninformed.

    I don't think I'm the naive one here! ;)

  166. So what is your problem with Reeke?

Why do you need any more proof that Reeke is for real after Rome "love fest"?

  167. Why do you need any more proof that Reeke is for real after Rome "love fest"?

I think they "came out" after promotion for the film was done, they probably didn't want to overshadow the film with their relationship. After the Rome FF there was no promotional work needed anymore.

  168. And what is the point of silly arguments like this one:

I said maybe he was hiding! And it's a fact he left L.A. on April 21st! We have picture proof!!! Like it or not!

    ReplyDelete
  169. Well r 7:54, read all the comments that lead to this quote you posted and then you'll understand.

    ReplyDelete
  170. I did read all the comments but I still don't understand why are you using silly arguments to "sell" Reeke.

I don't want to sell Reeke, really. I'd prefer another partner for him anyway. But as long as he's happy he can be with whomever he wants to!

Your posts are saying something different.

  173. Your posts are saying something different.

I just try to be realistic!

This Ted C. stories make no sense to me.
I want to know what happened to Austin? Are Jake and Austin still secretly together? What happened to the surrogate baby?
Does Reese have sex with another guy? I mean she's a pretty, healthy woman. If there was a guy for Reese, Ted would have mentioned it by now. She probably also has "needs" Don't you think?

    ReplyDelete
  174. Yes, I think Jake and Austin are still together.

No, I don't think there is a surrogate baby.

Couldn't care less about dull, unattractive Reese.

No, I don't expect Ted to know everything about celebrities. Nor do I expect him to write everything he knows.

    ReplyDelete
  175. 8:34, you know what I know for sure? We both probably will never know the truth. ;)

Hey, it was still fun exchanging messages with you! :)

    ReplyDelete
  176. Here is a truth you can count on:
Don't believe anything you read about celebrities. The Hollywood machine works night and day to fabricate phony stories.

    ReplyDelete
  177. She probably also has "needs" Don't you think?

Reese is DIY girl, if you know what I mean. Her best sexual relations are when she relates to herself.

  179. Damn, 9:08! Just, damn.

    ReplyDelete
  180. I'm not particularly for Gyllenspoon or Jaustin, though I'd be okay with either pairing. So, don't take this question as me trying to sell Reese and Jake, but if he is bi and if his relationship with Kirsten was real, isn't it at least a possibility that their relationship is real? Even if they do pimp it out for PR gain, doesn't the possibility remain? Jake doesn't have to be completely straight to fall for a woman.

    ReplyDelete
  181. No. This is too convenient to be true. I never paid too much attention to the Jake is gay rumors before he took up with Reese. I thought they were garden variety gay rumors that start up about every single new actor.

Then this. It rings so false. Now I think he really is gay.

  182. Wave to the angry babbler at 9:08 everyone!

    HI!!

    ReplyDelete
  183. So, bsd, none of the Ted stuff rang true for you until Gyllenspoon? Did Rome do it for you? Yes, I agree the photos looked super fake. Still, I'm not completely sold on the Awful Truth BIs.

I'm starting to feel about Jake the same way I have felt about Tom Cruise for years. I think they have secrets, but I'm not necessarily convinced that it's homosexuality.

Part of me thinks that Jake is not gay at all. Maybe he has some strange sexual deviance he doesn't want to get out or a hooker fetish or something like that.

    ReplyDelete
  184. I'll wave and laugh. 9:08 is friggin' hilarious.

    ReplyDelete
  185. There are some straight people I know that had harmless crushes on the same sex, maybe that's what happened to Jake with Austin and Heath. I don't think there was anything between them, but he may have felt a strange attraction, maybe it was even mutual and it showed in their interactions.

    ReplyDelete
  186. Hi babblers. What's wrong, are things a little boring over at "Jake is straight central"?

    ReplyDelete
  187. How can you not develop tender feelings for someone who's your friend in RL and whom you kissed tenderly and were physically close to in front of a camera. It's only natural there is a different kind of dynamic between them!

    ReplyDelete
  188. 10:31 AM...well said.

and all the people arguing when/where/if/how jake and reese are together should get over it.

just face it: he's with the chin.
    girlfriends that shop together...

btw, it may seem like a small detail, but going to places like banana republic is part of a careful image refashioning (note: maggie or kiki would never be caught dead in a banana republic, "the retailer that caters to preppie wannabes"). it shows (again) how much jake wants to go mainstream. reese is delivering him into her dull, conservative mini-van driving, People-mag reading Avon demographic. that's where the money is!

he may have flirted with danger (big dawg Heath) and experimented with sweetness (puppy Austin), but he ain't wet dark and wild. he's wet dark and scared.

the trust-fund baby has had enough of living on the edge..he's jumped back into the safety zone.

that's basically what ted is going on about. and just because jake's safe with reese for now doesn't mean he isn't attracted to men.
