Bourdain told People in February he felt "some responsibility" to "at least try to live" after welcoming daughter, Ariane, now 11, with ex-wife Ottavia Busia in 2007.

Now, for the first time in her career, she’s been making these requests as a producer, on projects for which she also plays the leads. In the grimy, 1970s-set HBO series The Deuce, set in and around Times Square, Gyllenhaal is a self-propelled sex worker named Candy. And she plays the eponymous lead in Sara Colangelo’s Sundance hit The Kindergarten Teacher: the creatively frustrated, increasingly unhinged Lisa.
Today, Gyllenhaal is still tender from dental work that morning, feeling at her numb jaw as she eats a plate of blueberries and mushrooms (“not as weird as it sounds”). She tells me all about how women at work – not always synonymous with “women in the workplace” – have been a focus of her own career. (I bet you remember Secretary, to begin with.)

Of course, because Gyllenhaal is fascinated by these lines of thought, they become her characters’ fascinations, too. Right now, she’s reading film critic Laura Mulvey’s feminist essays about the male gaze because she thinks they would resonate with Candy. “Once you really get in it, everything is grist for the mill. You’ll hear a song and be like, ‘Oh shit’, and it’ll explode something in your mind about the world. It’s like how, if you’re in love, everything you come into contact with is about the affair.”
Gyllenhaal hints that one of her next affairs might be with her husband of nine years, Peter Sarsgaard, whom she calls “a great actor”. She’s more candid (but only a little) about her hopes of directing an adapted screenplay for The Lost Daughter, a novel by Italian literary phenomenon Elena Ferrante, whom Gyllenhaal adores for the quality of her candour. “Ferrante is a feminist hero for me, and part of what I find so heroic is her honesty – her honesty about the complicated nature of all of this. She thinks, and takes the time, and considers.” (Candy.) “She tries to tell the truth about where she is at; she’s not fronting at all. She even goes back and says, ‘I was wrong about that,’ or, ‘I was confused when I wrote or did that.’” (Lisa.) “I admire that so much: just the constant considering, rethinking, acknowledging and trying to understand someone who comes from a different perspective. While Curtis was on vacation with her husband, Variety reports, Gyllenhaal “tracked her down” to put in a good word for Green. The Donnie Darko star, a close family friend to Curtis and husband Christopher Guest, “urged Curtis to take Green’s call,” having loved his experience with Green when the two collaborated on last year’s Stronger.
Curtis said she values Green’s relaxed directorial style and trusted Gyllenhaal, an actor who kept things at a memorably low boil while waiting for time to correct its course in Donnie Darko, to recognize and appreciate that same quality in Green. “They’re both laid back and don’t take themselves too seriously,” Curtis said.

Jake Gyllenhaal was spotted at lunch on Friday with “The Crown” star Vanessa Kirby who played Princess Margaret on the Netflix show. Spies said the pair had a “cozy looking” meal at La Mercerie inside Roman and Williams Guild.
Said a witness: “It was touchy-feely. She was touching his hair. They were sitting on the same side of the table.”
But multiple sources familiar with the pair said they’re just close friends, and that Kirby’s dating Callum Turner. Said a pal, “Vanessa is a very tactile person. She is happily in a long-term relationship … it was just two friends catching up.”
Another source said that Gyllenhaal is pals with Turner as well as Kirby. Kirby is in action epic “Mission: Impossible — Fallout.” She co-starred with Gyllenhaal in “Everest.”

Meryl Streep and Helen Mirren could be sitting on opposite sides of first class on a flight to New York, and you could bet some asshole would write about how they got it on in the lavatory. By got it on, I mean they took turns getting off to the other reciting lines from Bridges Of Madison County and Caligula, but I digress. Donnie Darko and Princess Margaret, also known as Jake Gyllenhaal and Vanessa Kirby, were seen having lunch together Friday in New York, so that naturally has some people thinking they’re definitely fucking.
Page Six says their snitch caught the two having a “cozy lunch” that included all the requirements to make a publicity couple:

In Vanessa’s defense, she was rumored to be dating Tom Cruise. Maybe she was just trying to see what Jake’s rug was made of to pass the word along to John Travolta back at the Scientology bathhouse. Before we get too ahead of ourselves, other snitches claim this is much ado about nothing. Vanessa was on The View last week and when they asked about the Tom rumors, she said she’s been dating Callum Turner for over two years. Just watched Donnie Darko for the first time. Psychological thrillers are one of my favorite genres. I don’t like twist endings but this was a really great film. Jake Gyllenhaal is such an extraordinary actor and this was an amazing performance by him.
