Oh now GG is abandoning the show. He’s “exiting”, he’s “giving up on”, now “abandoning”. Wow. Now a key phrase in that picked-up story is making it look like that was more of a heads up of this latest development.

    ToothyTile&GGoose @GoosesTile 1h1 hour ago
Placing bets now: GG never filmed that “pilot” at all, did he? He was late to Wilmington not at all due to “filming” that pilot. Those “filming” photos were so hinky looking because they were totally fake, weren’t they, buddy?

  11. Leonard Bernstein's estate has awarded exclusive music rights to Cooper's project, meaning Gyllenhaal's film can't use any music from 'West Side Story' or the composer's other works.

On May 1, Jake Gyllenhaal announced he'll play Leonard Bernstein in The American, a biopic about the legendary conductor and West Side Story composer that director Cary Fukunaga intends to start shooting this fall for Bron Studios.

But before Gyllenhaal could even put together a full orchestra, symbolically speaking, a rival Bernstein biopic was announced on May 10 – this one to be directed by and starring Bradley Cooper, who will produce Bernstein alongside Hollywood heavyweights Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese, among others.

Behind the scenes, both projects raced to secure music rights from the Bernstein estate. For the estate, it was an embarrassment of riches as two of Hollywood's most in-demand actors presented their case.

Cooper's team prevailed, and the estate awarded exclusive rights to Paramount and Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment, which are partnering on Bernstein. That means that The American can't feature any music that Bernstein composed, including West Side Story.

Paramount actually had the rights for years before they lapsed in recent months. Producers Fred Berner and Amy Durning have spent the better part of a decade trying to make a Bernstein film for the studio, with Josh Singer coming aboard to write the script five years ago. At point, Scorsese wanted to direct Bernstein, but he departed to helm The Irishman.

The project got renewed life in the past two months after Cooper showed a cut of his upcoming directorial debut, A Star is Born, to Spielberg. The elder filmmaker was impressed, and told Cooper he should direct Paramount's Bernstein biopic. Cooper was sold, with Amblin coming aboard as well, along with Spielberg as a producer.

Berner and Durning reengaged the Bernstein estate, which is carefully guarded by Bernstein's three children, Jamie, Alexander and Nina. Spielberg and Cooper also met with the estate, which was shown A Star is Born. (Spielberg is hardly a stranger to the Bernstein brood, since he has a separate rights deal for his planned West Side Story remake.)

"In our father’s centennial year celebration, we are delighted to form an exclusive and unprecedented partnership with Paramount Pictures, Amblin and this extraordinary group of filmmakers to create a Leonard Bernstein biographical film. They understand our father and are passionate about telling his story," Jamie, Alexander and Nina Bernstein said in a Paramount and Amblin press release earlier this week.

Bernstein isn't expected to start shooting until fall 2019. Cooper intends to do further work on the script in conjunction with Singer and the producers.

The American may have lost out on the music rights, but it isn't waving the flag of defeat. And, if all goes as planned, Fukunaga and Gyllenhaal's film will hit the big screen first, or in 2019.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Insiders close to Gyllenhaal and Bron say they fully intend to proceed, despite not being able to use any music from West Side Story. They note that Bernstein was just as famous for being a conductor, and that much of the music he conducted is in the public domain. (However, they likely can't use any of his orchestral recordings.) The indie film will be financed by a combination of sources, including foreign presales. Sierra/Affinity is currently shopping the project to international distributors at the Cannes film market, where it is receiving keen interest.

The American is a passion project for Gyllenhaal, who developed the film with his partner, Riva Marker, at their New York-based production company, Nine Stories. When the Paramount film seemed to be off the table, the music rights were suddenly free again.

“Like many people, Leonard Bernstein found his way into my life and heart through West Side Story when I was a kid,” the actor-producer said in a May 1 press release. “But as I got older and started to learn about the scope of his work, I began to understand the extent of his unparalleled contribution and the debt of gratitude modern American culture owes him. As a man, Bernstein was a fascinating figure — full of genius and contradiction — and it will be an incredible honor to tell his story with a talent and friend like Cary Fukunaga."

Michael Mitnick's screenplay for The American is based on Humphrey Burton's definitive biography, Leonard Bernstein. The film will a paint an intimate portrait of the man behind the music, including Bernstein's homosexuality.

At age 25, Bernstein became the youngest music director in the history of the New York Philharmonic. In addition to his prolific career as a conductor, he composed numerous stage musicals, including On the Town and Wonderful Town. He also composed the film score for On the Waterfront.

Disappointed in the Bernstein estate. If they really wanted to do right by Leonard, they would have granted rights to use his music to both of these projects. Now there will be a probably brilliant film - Fukunaga and Gyllenhaal never disappoint individually, let alone together - about this brilliant man and yet the vision delivered will be handicapped by the absence of the most crucial aspect of Leonard Bernstein's life : his music.

But there was tragedy too with the premature death of her mother at the age of 56 from lung cancer. That it occurred just two years after Leonard Bernstein admitted he was gay and moved out of the family home — though he later returned — may no longer be an issue for Jamie, but there are always more questions.

“My mother’s death was a calamity for our family. I felt as if I hadn’t got to the other side of the stuff that you go through as mother and daughter before becoming wonderful friends.”

As for her father’s sexuality, she was not surprised that he was gay and has admitted being supportive of his attempts to arrive at some truth for himself, though she feels he had a terrible time sustaining a gay lifestyle at the expense of his long-established domestic life.

“I also think my youth prevented me from understanding the effect it had on my mother, who was devastated by what she saw as my father’s abandonment and humiliation of her,” she says.

What remains now for Jamie Bernstein is an enduring admiration for her father’s talent and a commitment to his legacy that has led her to resurrecting his groundbreaking Young People’s Concerts which she now writes and performs as narrator with orchestras across the globe. ...

One suggestion is that he chose to marry partly to dispel rumors about his private life to help secure a major conducting appointment, following advice from his mentor Dimitri Mitropoulos about the conservative nature of orchestra boards."

  36. Maggie Gyllenhaal sat down at the 2018 Vulture Festival to talk about five of her favorite projects, all of which involve a lot of crying. From 2002’s Secretary to the upcoming second season of HBO’s The Deuce, the actress has spent plenty of time inhabiting the lives of women who are having a rough time.

But things could be about to lighten up. When asked if she would be interested in doing a comedy as a change of pace, the actor announced that she and her husband, The Looming Tower star Peter Sarsgaard, are already working on one. “We are developing a comedy together,” she said. “It’s about Mary Matalin and James Carville. You know, Mary Matalin ran George Bush’s presidential campaign and James Carville ran Clinton’s campaign, and as they were campaigning against each other they had a love affair; fell in love.”

The actor didn’t offer further details, but the project could be based on Carville and Matalin’s 2014 book Love & War: Twenty Years, Three Presidents, Two Daughters and One Louisiana Home, which details the couple’s party-line-crossing marriage.

  45. Jake Gyllenhaal is set to play villain Mysterio in the next 'Spider-Man' movie.

The 37-year-old actor has reportedly won the race to portray the antagonist opposite Tom Holland who is returning as the webslinger in his second standalone film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Gyllenhaal was in competition with Ryan Gosling for the coveted part but the latter star pulled out of the running due to a scheduling conflict with another project. A source told The Sun newspaper: "Producers were keen to sign Ryan but he was busy filming another project. Jake is a suitable alternative with experience of playing villainous characters."

Mysterio made his first appearance issue #13 of comic book 'The Amazing Spider-Man' in 1964 and was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, the men responsible for giving Spider-Man to the world.

The original Mysterio is Quentin Beck, a special effects wizard and stunt man working for a major Hollywood studio who uses his expertise to pursue a life of crime after failing in his ambitions to become a rich and famous actor. There have been three different incarnations of the character since the original.

Shooting on the MCU blockbuster is due to begin in London in June. Holland, 21, will be making his fourth appearance as Peter Parker and his superhero alter ego in the film, having most recently appeared as Spidey in 'Avengers: Infinity War'.

His portrayal of the character was recently given the seal of approval by Lee, 95, on Twitter who says he is perfect in the part. The comic book legend tweeted: "Never give up on your dreams! When I first wrote Spider-Man my publisher said I was crazy because people hate spiders and insects and he was not going to publish it. But I never gave up, until it was published ... I think @TomHolland1996 is a great Spider-Man. He is the exact height and age I envisioned when I first wrote Spider-Man. Spidey was never supposed to be too large. How is my friend Tom doing?" British actor Holland was thrilled to get the compliment and replied: "Thanks very much Stan. It all started with you sir. Looking forward to catching up soon bud."

  56. Jake Gyllenhaal Eyed for Villain Role in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Sequel
Jake Gyllenhaal has found his first comic-book movie role.

The Oscar-nominated actor is set to join Sony and Marvel’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming” sequel. He is in talks to play the villain Mysterio, joining Michael Keaton, who will return to reprise his role of Vulture.

Tom Holland is returning to play Peter Parker, with Zendaya and Marisa Tomei also coming back for the sequel. Jon Watts is back as director and Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley are penning the script.

Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal are producing.

Plot details are still unknown at this time, but sources say Marvel and Sony, who will co-produce the film, were looking to cast a new male and female lead, with the desire for the male lead to be played by an A-list actor. Actresses for the female role, which is expected to be someone in her 20s, are currently being auditioned by execs.

For Gyllenhaal, it marks his first time in the comic-book realm. Though over the last decade he has starred in more dramatic fare, the star has said he isn’t against doing a particular genre and takes each piece of material into consideration.

He is currently filming Dan Gilroy’s horror thriller “Velvet Buzzsaw,” but had been weighing several projects that he wanted to fit into his schedule before the end of the year. When several options were pushed to next year, it opened a window in his schedule for “Spider-Man” to be his next feature.

Gyllenhaal was most recently seen in the Sundance pic “Wildlife,” which opened Cannes Film Festival’s critics week. He also has the western “The Sisters Brothers” opening later this year.

  59. ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming 2’ Lands Jake Gyllenhaal to Play the Villain

Despite the events of Avengers: Infinity War, there will be a Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 (not the official title), and it’s set to arrive on July 5, 2019. That means casting has to start coming together so they can start filming later this year, and it looks like they’re already swinging for the fences with their first big piece of casting news.

According to THR, Jake Gyllenhaal is in talks to play the villainous Mysterio in the upcoming sequel. It’s a bit of funny casting since about a decade ago, Gyllenhaal was in the running to actually play Spider-Man, but now he’s aged out of the wall-crawler and into an antagonist. Additionally, Variety, while not confirming that Gyllenhaal is playing Mysterio, adds that Michael Keaton will return to play the Vulture.

For those who are unfamiliar with Mysterio, his first and most high-profile alter ego was Quentin Beck, “a special effects wizard and stunt man working for a major Hollywood studio with dreams of making a name for himself in the film industry. However, he came to see his career in special effects as a dead-end job. His attempts to become an actor were poorly received, but he realized that his expertise in illusions could make him an effective supervillain,” according to Wikipedia. The character is one of Spider-Man’s oldest antagonists, first appearing in The Amazing Spider-Man #13 in June 1964.

I don’t think there will be any complaints over a talented actor like Gyllenhaal landing the role. He’s showed his range time and again, and I’m pretty sure he’ll be able to play whatever they have cut out for him when it comes to Mysterio. The bigger question is whether or not they’ll keep the character’s fishbowl-head costume for his big screen debut.

It will also be interesting to see if Mysterio will be the solo villain or if it will mimic other superhero movies where they think more villains is somehow better. It can work if the supporting villains don’t take up too much screen time (I don’t think anyone minded the Shockers showing up in Homecoming), but it’s usually better to have a single antagonist rather than a bunch of baddies (unless they’re planning to unleash the Sinister Six at some point).

What do you think of Gyllenhaal playing Mysterio? Do you think there should be another villain in the mix? Sound off in the comments.

    ReplyDelete
  60. WOW, awesome casting. How did they pull that one off? Guess these Spidey movies are gonna have all the great villains

The first Mysterio story in the comics had him imitating Spider-Man out of jealousy, committing crimes using his identity and turning everyone against him. With Gyllenhaal in the running for Spider-Man before, this seems like an inspired bit of casting.

  64. Sounds great to me! I think it’s great casting and I’m excited to see their take on Mysterio. I know the fishbowl is his thing, buuuuuuut, I won’t be sad if it’s re-imagined somehow. Shrunk to some Daft Punk type thing.

Why does the title say they've landed him when the body says he's in talks?
    - It’s an industry term. It means they’ve agreed in principle. He’s been cast. He’s accepted the role. They are ironing out details (like scheduling and percentage takes) before he officially signs. So they DID land him.

I assume this means he's not taking over from Affleck for Batman...that's disappointing.

Its clear he doesnt want to be type cast as a superhero..so he thinks playing a villian is helpful in not being typecast and yet get the popularity and recognition for being in comic book movies. That seems like a good career choice. All this is relevant assuming homecoming 2 is good. But still its not dark enough for typed of characters he is taking on lately.

  66. jakeovereverything: Jake with his bestie Greta Caruso and another friend at the Italian restaurant Via Carota in NYC on 5.21.2018.

After this photo (photos of Jake taken by different fan) was taken a very special fan ig admin from @jakegyllenhaal_savetheearth met Jake!! She said he was very nice, looked extremely tan, and looked like he might be trying to grow a beard. She gave him a gift of saffron that he was appreciative of receiving.

I am so happy for this person to happen across Jake on their vacation. She did what most Jake fans couldn’t which she didn’t bother him for a picture but just to speak to him and give her gift. This is actually the second time she has met Jake 🙊 I know she is very lucky!

She has posted about the encounter on her FB fan page that goes by the same name.
I posted her summary of meeting him but it is translated from Italian so some of the pronouns are wrong. https://www.instagram.com/p/BjFjuZGg5H5/

  68. After wowing critics at Sundance and Cannes, "Wildlife" opens in theaters October 19.

Paul Dano has been delivering excellent performances in front of the camera for over a decade now, from “Little Miss Sunshine” to “There Will Be Blood,” “Prisoners,” and “Love & Mercy,” but the 33-year-old actor is now a breakout director thanks to his feature debut “Wildlife.” The family drama premiered to critical acclaim at Sundance earlier this year and stirred up even more buzz at Cannes this month.

Written by Dano and Zoe Kazan, “Wildlife” is based on the 1990 Robert Ford novel of the same name. Carey Mulligan and Jake Gyllenhaal star as a couple whose marriage falls apart after they move to Montana and Mulligan’s Jeanette falls in love with another man. Newcomer Ed Oxenbould plays the couple’s young child who gets caught between the emotional devastation of his parents.

IndieWire’s David Ehrlich praised Dano’s directorial debut as “stunningly beautiful” in his A- review out of Sundance. “It’s a tender, gorgeous, and exquisitely understated drama about a family that loses its faith in itself,” Ehrlich wrote.

The debut trailer below puts Mulligan’s powerhouse performance front and center. Oscar buzz for the actress started immediately after the movie first screened at Sundance, and IFC Films is surely hoping to make her a contender with the film’s fall release date.

“Wildlife” opens in select theaters October 19. Watch the first trailer below.

  77. I've got a trailer for another comedic western for you to watch today, and this one looks like a lot of fun! The movie is called The Sisters Brothers and it has a great cast that includes Joaquin Phoenix, John C. Reilly, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Riz Ahmed.

The film is based on Patrick Dewitt’s novel of the same name, and the story follows "two brothers – Eli and Charlie Sisters – who are hired to kill a prospector who has stolen from their boss. The story, a genre-hybrid with comedic elements, takes place in Oregon in 1851."

I've always been a fan of westerns and this one has a very entertaining and refreshing vibe to it. I especially love the cast that they've brought together to play these characters. The Sisters Brothers looks like a fantastic film that will bring on some good laughs.

The film was directed by Jacques Audiard and it will be released in theaters later this year.

  78. Jake Gyllenhaal on his career and being Cartier’s watch ambassador
    ...
With his production company Nine Stories, he is on the way to becoming a filmmaker of note as well – from sourcing material to developing it from the ground up and collaborating with bold storytellers.

Regarding the foray into directing, Gyllenhaal points out that he sees it as merely a natural progression to growing up, and not at all – as some would assume – a move forward from acting.

“I think it takes maturity and a knowledge of oneself to be able to actually tell a story, to be at the helm of a project. I believe it takes a while to cultivate the ability to actually direct a film, so it feels like the natural movement as a human, for me, not as an actor.”

His other notable works include 2014’s Nightcrawler, which he also produced. Playing an investigative crime journalist who will stop at nothing to get the story, he received a Bafta, Golden Globe, SAG, Critics’ Choice and Independent Spirit Award nomination for it.
Within that same year, Gyllenhaal made his Broadway debut in Constellations and musical theatre debut in Little Shop Of Horrors. It was his first stage performance since 2002, when he starred in the revival of This Is Our Youth on London’s West End.

So how does he juggle it all? Gyllenhaal is constantly surrounded by the people who really matter. His family and friends are the ones who have played a big role in keeping him from careening off course.

“I always spend time with them, doing what they do, and that helps me pace myself. You can get overwhelmed by the work that you do and consumed with it, but when you look outward, like my mom would say, it’s like taking a breath,” he explains.

  89. So who is Mysterio? In the comics, Mysterio is the alter ego of Quentin Beck, a Hollywood stuntman and FX wizard who dreams of becoming a big film star. For Beck these dreams aren’t obtainable, however. He’s a crap actor and his FX work isn’t going to get him anywhere, until he gets an idea to utilize his ability to create expert illusions to help him get a leg up on a life of crime. Much like Leonardo DiCaprio’s future turn as a washed-up actor in Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” the idea of the Oscar-nominated Gyllenhaal playing a bad actor is delightful and could be a lot of fun.

Mysterio is also a pretty formidable opponent for Spider-Man. He doesn’t have superhuman abilities like Parker, but in addition to being able to create special effects and illusions, he’s a hypnotist, a chemist, and he knows robotics. He’s skilled in hand-to-hand combat due to his work as a stuntman, which allows him to keep up with Spider-Man despite the latter’s super strength. His ability to misdirect also gives him an upper hand in combat and will likely keep Spider-Man on his toes.

It will be interesting to see how Mysterio’s costume is translated on the big screen. While Vulture got a more realistic look, pairing a set of robotic wings with a fur-collared bomber jacket, Mysterio’s look in the comics is highly theatrical, iconic, and also a little absurd. He’s often clad in a long purple cloak, a green-checkered bodysuit, and a helmet that no one can see into. It seems likely that Mysterio’s look will get an upgrade in the “Homecoming” sequel to make him look less cartoonish, but, much like Spider-Man, Mysterio’s costume is also vital to his abilities.

Mysterio often uses chemicals and gases to create smokescreens, and his helmet protects him from the effects. He is able to create a gas that dulls Spider-Man’s spidey sense, an abrasive that destroys his webbing, and hallucinogens and hypnogens that create illusions and make anyone around him susceptible to his will. His boots contain magnetic coil springs that allow him to jump and cling to surfaces similar to Spider-Man. He’s a formidable opponent to his nemesis, aided greatly by his technology and ability to create diversions.

There’s good reason why Mysterio is one of Spider-Man most iconic villains, and one who fans are incredibly excited to see on the big screen. The casting of Gyllenhaal is an exciting one, not only because it hints at the Sinister Six finally assembling in the MCU, which is something fans have been hoping to see for a while, but also because even a cursory glance at Gyllenhaal’s recent resume proves he’s more than capable of bringing Quentin Beck to life with an unforgettable performance.

The only downside to the news? Waiting until 2019 to see what finally happens to Spider-Man in “Avengers 4” before his big return in July 2019.

... I think location and timing has everything to do with the projects that Austin and Jake take on. This show would have put Austin in a good location were Jake to be on the east coast. Did something change? Or did Austin even film this pilot?

One thing is for sure. I watch these two guys' social media activity pretty well. And they are not seen any more. This has been going on for awhile now. Jake's team fakes his whereabouts with old file photos and hinky looking ones. Austin isn't seen and not that he ever was, but once in a great while, there would be a sighting.

For two guys who allegedly want to be in the entertainment industry, they sure don't show it and haven't been showing it for several years. Now more than ever, they act like they're retired or out of the business, only emerging for very short periods. That's not normal for unattached, active actors. Things have changed noticeably for them, particularly for Austin career-wise.

That tweet from the gal who saw Family Tile on her flight, the Taco Bell and the coffee stop in western NY are about the last sightings of them that I think were for real. That's going pretty far back.

Now, Jake did a flurry of promo for Stronger and when he did SITPWG, there were plenty of photos from the stage door and interview after interview. But since then, it’s been extremely controlled. A few pics on a make up artist’s Instagram of alleys and asphalt don’t constitute filming pictures.

Austin did a flurry of photos on other people’s instagrams around his birthday and then he turns into Howard Hughes again.

When you compare them to others in the industry, they’re really showing signs of being more domesticated and leading more of a civilian-like life behind the scenes than their peers who try to convey the same thing thru the press and actually make more noise about it. It’s all very ironic.

  118. Annapurna Pictures has released the excellent first trailer for The Sisters Brothers, the upcoming Western dark comedy based on the novel of the same name by Patrick deWitt. The adaptation hails from Dheepan writer/director Jacques Audiard, making his English-language debut with a stellar cast. Joaquin Phoenix and John C. Reilly play the titular Sisters Brothers, Eli and Charlie Sisters, who are hired guns with a penchant for bickering who are tasked with killing a prospector who has stolen from their boss.

When I first read deWitt’s novel a few years back, the Coen Brothers immediately came to mind—it’s a deeply funny, but also deeply sad book filled with violence, and I’m happy to see that Audiard looks to have struck the perfect tone to capture the spirit of this book. Phoenix and Reilly appear to have perfect chemistry, and I love the casting of Riz Ahmed and Jake Gyllenhaal in the roles of the prospector and the Sisters Brothers’ boss, respectively. This just shot up towards the top of my most anticipated list for 2018.

Check out the Sisters Brothers trailer below. Written by Audiard and Thomas Bidegain, the film is set for release sometime this fall, so expect a debut at one of the major fall film festivals ahead of an awards run.

M&M's been trying to tell me for quite awhile that Jake and Austin just don't live here in the States much anymore and I said oh, I can see that they have a place over there. But I still thought that LA was the sentimental home base.
But now that the Bennet bearding has been done with and at least since late last year, I too think these guys have flown the coop and their main residency is overseas.
Sure, Mgmnt probably filters out a few sightings when they are here, and after all, Jake was supposed to have filmed the Untitled Dan Gilroy Project™ in LA. But they're in the States sometimes obviously. Just not much anymore.
When there have been "sightings" of Jake, they're so hinky it's not even funny. The one they floated which was supposedly him and beard Greta Caruso? That wasn't even Jake from behind. It was a joke.

Tonight, Mgmnt floats some semi-blurry photo on an account that's in another language. And they use Mgmnt intern-operated Instagram accounts to float these pictures, claiming that the picture takers are contacting them personally to give them the "exclusives".
No more twitpics. No more Just Jared outings. Most everything now is filtered through Mgmnt controlled Instagram.

Another pattern that has become quite telling is Austin's social media. Pretty much the only time his account posts is around holidays and his birthday, when they need to place him far away from Jake. And he will tweet once in a great while about the ocean and sea life, topics which I do believe are dear to his heart. But they're quite impersonal in nature and usually involve asking for donations.

What is telling is how he doesn't tweet about live-time events, and most of all, events and shows in America. And I say it's because he's not here in the States. He's not only tied up with a family, but he's in a whole other time zone. Like, way off.

And this is the other realization - that these two guys are showing all the signs of being extremely domesticated. True, when you have this many children, your life is no longer your own. Kids as young as theirs can be very occupying and demanding. And though I think the kids are home schooled, there's still at least one not even pre-school age.
Now, is this because they've become a family on the lam? And why are they on the lam? Why move overseas?

Why move overseas? Because their kids are getting bigger. It's got to be harder to stay hidden. And Austin doesn't get recognized too much; Jake? Different story. Jake can't take these kids to Disney World or out to dinner. They can't go out as a family. I don't know how they've done it up to this point, but it has got to be much easier overseas. And I'm thinking either the UK and/or France. Particularly France would it be easier to hide out.

I recall that comment from a guy on Data Lounge years ago, who said that he had seen Jake with "his lover" several times overseas, and if I recall correctly it was either Italy or France. Refugees. They've become refugees from their own country - but by their own choosing. No sympathy here. This is their choice.

Makes one wonder, doesn't it? On one hand, it's nice to believe they've got this family life. But how healthy is it? It's never good to have to run away. And that's what you're doing - you're running away. You're like the Von Trapps. ...

I don't get your comparison to gay for pay porn actors.. I have nothing to say about gay for pay porn actors.. I don't need to call them gay, or straight, or whatever. And they are sex workers. And they can call themselves whatever they want. What have their lives got to do with a Hollywood leading man deciding to stay in the closet?
JG can obviously call himself whatever he wants. He's says he's straight. Fine. But I have the impression he's gay and closeted.

  124. I don't know how they've done it up to this point, but it has got to be much easier overseas. And I'm thinking either the UK and/or France. Particularly France would it be easier to hide out.

Because people in France don't have mobile phones or Internet.
And Jake and Austin want their kids to live far away from family and friends.

Deadpool 2 director David Leitch is also directing the upcoming movie based on The Division that will star Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain. He's now shared some information on how the film is progressing, and it sounds like good news for people who want to see the franchise move to the big screen.

He told Collider that he and his producers are "aggressively moving forward" with the movie. Right now, they are still developing a script and looking for writers, so it's still early days. But Leitch and company are passionate about making it happen.

"We're all fired up to do it, but it's just getting on the same page… It could be [in the immediate future]," Leitch said about when the movie might happen. "I like the idea of working with Jake [Gyllenhaal] and Jessica [Chastain] and that's really interesting to me, so who wouldn't want to aggressively move forward and find a point of view on it and dig in?"

In January 2017, Ubisoft announced that writer Stephen Gaghan, who won an Oscar for Traffic and also wrote Call of Duty: Ghosts, was attached to write The Division. However, Leitch's comments about still needing to find a writer suggest that Gaghan might have dropped out. Gaghan was also announced as The Division movie's director, but that is no longer true.

Asked what drew him to The Division, Leitch said it was the world that Ubisoft created.

"I think the world that those artists created is really compelling, obviously for people who love the game but for people who even--just a cursory look at the artwork and the immersive quality, it's pretty amazing," he said. "I think it also asks some interesting questions about society and putting people in those interesting positions. For me, I thought that was a cool playground."

The Division, like all other video game movies, faces something of an uphill battle given that video game movies have a history of being mediocre or worse. Collider asked Leitch if he was nervous about the so-called "video game movie curse."

"I mean, yes and no," he said. "They're two different experiences. Obviously the video game you're telling your own story and it's so active, and cinema is all about one person's point of view guiding a story, you're telling a story. I think sometimes those things are in conflict, but on a project like The Division again it's like there’s these bigger themes in there that you can pull one out and attach some great characters to and you can have a compelling story, and also given the trappings of the world that people love, I think you can deliver a good movie."

There is no word yet on the story for The Division movie, when it will start filming, or when it will come out. Ubisoft's latest video game movie was Assassin's Creed, which starred Michael Fassbender and opened in December 2016. It made more than $240 million at the global box office, according to Box Office Mojo; a sequel is reportedly on the way.

As for Leitch, he co-directed John Wick and then solo directed the Charlize Theron movie Atomic Blonde. Deadpool 2 was his latest directorial effort.

As for The Division game franchise, The Division 2 is on the way and will be discussed further at E3 2018 next month in Los Angeles. The first game was set in a post-apocalyptic Manhattan and was a big commercial success for Ubisoft.

They’re too busy. But boy, you sure do, don’t you? Look at this whole page and previous ones. Y’all are obsessed with every little thing I tweet and every comment I post on Narnia. What is this, the PG blog now? LOL! I may need representation at this point.

What did y’all do with the Troll? Finally kick him to the unemployment line? Because this isn’t him and it hasn’t been for a while now.

Sorry you have to maintain this blog all because M&M and I won’t go away. We’re in it for the LONG HAUL. In fact, it’s probably why you canned the original troll because his strategy was so stupid, all he did was cause M&M and I to create Narnia. And now you really can’t get rid of us.

    Boneheads, your whole team is.

This is me. This is PG, Lv2walk and Goosestile. When I comment on here? I sign my stinkin’ name. So every time you act like that’s me making the deleted comments, you can blow it out your ear because it has never been me.

    ...
Style: Would you describe yourself as an actor who enjoys taking risks in selecting film projects?

Gyllenhaal: No, I just try and listen to myself. I think more people should respond to things that they believe in, and not to things that other people tell them that they should.

Style: You are working with Denis Villeneuve for the third time on The Son; you’ve rarely repeated working with directors. Is it because it so happens that these projects came up, or were you looking for projects to collaborate on?

Gyllenhaal: Denis and I were looking for projects to collaborate on because when you get to be a certain age and have been doing it for long enough, I think the mind of the person you’re working with is equally important to the project. So, we were actively looking for things to work on together. Just like working with Dan Gilroy, on this new film. We made Nightcrawler and now we’re making another film together because I just adore his art.
    ...
Style: You’ve worked on a few theatre projects. Is it something you’re hoping to carve out a little more time for? You’re obviously a great singer and we’ve seen a bit of a revival in musicals – is it something you’re looking to do more of, films and theatre-wise?

Gyllenhaal: Yes, we are producing a number of theatre projects, we produced Sunday in the Park with George, which is the last show I did, and I’m going to be doing something in the winter again.

I made a promise to myself that for every three film projects, I would do a theatre project, and I’ve stayed pretty true to that promise.
