Jake Gyllenhaal Opens Up About His Desire to Be a Father: I Want a 'Family of My Own'
Jake Gyllenhaal may be an Oscar-nominated actor and Broadway star, but there’s still one role he hasn’t yet added to his resume: father. Gyllenhaal, 36, opens up in the new issue of PEOPLE about his desire to one day start a family.
“I want to continue becoming more of an adult than I already am,” he says of his future. “Hopefully with a family of my own.”
The Stronger actor says his bond with his sister Maggie Gyllenhaal‘s two daughters makes him excited for fatherhood.
“My sister has raised two beautiful daughters. They are the most amazing girls,” he says. “It’s fun to send them home with a lot of candy, because it was almost like, ‘Enjoy it, Mags!’ A little payback for being the sister who made me perform weird shows at our parents’ dinner parties.”
Gyllenhaal is currently single, and after past high-profile relationships with Kirsten Dunst, Reese Witherspoon and Taylor Swift, the actor says he doesn’t let rumors about his love life bother him.
“I’ve learned to have a real sense of humor about things. There will always be opinions. I think I’ve made my peace with that.”

Jake Gyllenhaal Is Desperate for a Baby
Jake Gyllenhaal, 36, is apparently hearing the tick-tick-tick of his biological clock on the press tour for his new movie Stronger. In an exclusive interview with People, he said he is ready to be a dad.
“I want to continue becoming more of an adult than I already am,” he explained. “Hopefully with a family of my own.” He added that babysitting his sister Maggie Gyllenhaal’s two daughters has been a joyous experience: “It’s fun to send them home with a lot of candy, because it was almost like, ‘Enjoy it, Mags!’”
Gyllenhaal has been dropping hints like this for years now. In 2015, during his press tour for Southpaw, he told multiple outlets that he wanted babies. Referencing the fact that he played a dad in the movie, he told People, “I would love for it not to be fictional.” In a more impassioned tone of voice, he told Entertainment Tonight, “I am not a father yet, but it is definitely a dream of mine, should I be lucky to have that to happen.” And he really let it all out with the Inquirer, explaining, “Nothing gets me more excited than thinking about being able to have a family and to be a father and husband. There is no other purpose I can see in the world than that.”

I know I wouldn't put it past a 'pregnancy' being floated out. Today, Jake set an unprecedented height of limbo on how far he'll go to deny his own children.
Is it possible Greta Caruso and a partner may want a child? She could pretend to carry and Jake be named the father. The child is "protected" from paparazzi view, a la the Gyllysarsgaard girls and Jake wouldn't necessarily be seen much at all with the baby. Then a "break up" occurs and the child remains to be really Greta Caruso's.
OR....OR, OR, OR, Jake maybe did wine and dine Austin for another rugrat and Greta could pretend to carry "their" child, while really the baby would be Austin and Jake's. I doubt that scenario though - seems pretty risky to me.
But after seeing all the nonsense with other celebs and weirdness, I don't put anything past these PR teams. And certainly after watching today, I don't put anything past Jake. He's pretty desperate for an Oscar nomination, it would appear.
I really don't put it past them.
Going on the record with a People mag exclusive is extremely big, don't underestimate. That's the kind of public denial that actually I think, puts Jake's psychological well-being at risk. But it's the guys' decision, and since he's just smirking away on this press junket, he must be fine and dandy with their decision.
